00:19:37.360It's alleged some of the charged defendants acted as facilitators who orchestrated the marriage fraud scheme, pairing foreign nationals seeking immigration status status with United States citizens willing to participate and engage in a sham marriage.0.56

00:20:02.680Some of the other charged defendants acted as recruiters by finding and recruiting United States citizens to participate in the scheme,
00:20:11.020and other defendants acted as officiants, officiating dozens of these alleged fake marriages.
00:20:18.760Now, the way that this scheme allegedly worked is the facilitators used social media and
00:20:26.440other forms of advertising to market fraudulent immigration services to foreign nationals,
00:20:31.940primarily from China, and Chinese nationals would pay these facilitators as much as $100,000
00:20:38.940for assistance in obtaining a marriage, which then allowed them to apply for a green card.
00:20:44.740The facilitators also paid willing U.S. citizens as much as $30,000 to engage in the sham marriage
00:22:20.040These charges and the indictments now unsealed, they show how far people will go to cheat our immigration system.
