Summary

A Jewish professor at Columbia University has been suspended for standing up to pro-Hamas protesters on campus. Why is it that when someone speaks out in defense of Israel, they get intimidated? What is the difference between a pro-Israel and pro-Palestine group? And why does this happen on college campuses?

00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody, and welcome to The Great America Show.
00:00:05.380 It's great to have you with us.
00:00:06.380 Thanks so much for joining us today.
00:00:08.400 It seems every day I come on here and do this show, something is going wrong in America.
00:00:13.020 And it's, of course, under the Biden-Harris regime or the Harris-Biden regime or the Obama-Harris-Biden regime,
00:00:19.480 however you want to label it or call it.
00:00:21.880 It's clear Joe Biden's not running the show.
00:00:24.440 One of the big issues we have among the many is legal immigration.
00:00:28.420 And the problems it's causing to this country, whether it be them overwhelming our hospital systems
00:00:34.000 or them overwhelming our education systems, New York, where we do the show out of among some of the worst affected by it.
00:00:43.200 Some of the estimates are 20 to 30 million illegals allowed in this country under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
00:00:48.900 Some say more, some say less.
00:00:50.620 I'm erring on the side of more.
00:00:52.900 But the political division in this country, it's hitting new levels.
00:00:55.940 And it's gotten even worse since the Gaza situation with Israel, the war between Israel and Hamas.
00:01:05.420 A professor this week at Columbia University suspended, a Jewish professor, Israeli professor, suspended from his duties from Columbia University.
00:01:12.900 Now, we haven't heard about this for a while since the initial riots at Columbia University.
00:01:16.940 We saw some months ago when the war first started on October 7th.
00:01:21.500 Actually, it's almost over a year and a half now.
00:01:24.180 But the riots were sometime after October 7th.
00:01:27.780 And we haven't heard about this since.
00:01:29.480 But now Columbia University this week has suspended this assistant professor for what they say is intimidation for standing up for Israel.
00:01:37.800 But you're allowed to have these pro-Palestinian, Hamas sympathizers, in some cases terrorist sympathizers, terrorizing college campuses across this country.
00:01:47.800 But when you speak out and you speak up for Israel, you're suspended and you lose your job.
00:01:53.200 I want to bring in our guest today.
00:01:54.400 He's a political science professor at Suffolk Community College, and he's the host of the PAS Report.
00:01:58.800 Nicholas Giordano, also a good friend of mine, I must say, although I'm not sure I wanted to say that.
00:02:04.000 But whatever.
00:02:04.980 Nick, it's great to have you with us.
00:02:06.380 What's going on in this country?
00:02:07.880 You're in the classroom each and every day with these students.
00:02:11.720 It seems when it comes to Israel, there's zero tolerance.
00:02:16.400 But when it comes to supporting Hamas and Palestine and, you know, two-state solution or whatever, you know, it may be, there's an issue.
00:02:25.520 Your thoughts, Nick?
00:02:26.860 Well, it shows how higher education, how far it's fallen.
00:02:29.580 I mean, when you have university leaders that can't openly condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization responsible for slaughtering innocent civilians, you know you have a problem.
00:02:40.980 And it's the effectless leadership that has led to these student groups that have become extremely hostile to take over college campuses, and nothing happens to them.
00:02:51.280 They engage in incendiary language.
00:02:54.220 What really frustrates me, though, is when they continue to call it protests.
00:02:59.800 These are not protests.
00:03:01.180 The second you disrupt campus life and campus activities, you prevent others from attending their classrooms.
00:03:07.680 You harass students, you assault them, you threaten them.
00:03:11.320 That's when the protest is over.
00:03:13.000 That's now a violent mob that exists.
00:03:15.680 And yet these colleges have allowed this to go on for too long, and it's really insulting.
00:03:20.100 Columbia University is actually one of the worst offenders in this country where anti-Semitism is just off the charts over there.
00:03:28.980 And they're now suspending a professor that speaks out in defense of Israel.
00:03:34.640 Yet how many students are still back on campus after they took over a building at the end of last semester and forced finals to go online and canceled graduations?
00:03:46.540 It really is stunning, and it shows how rotten to the core higher education has become, where it's deviated far from open debate, intellectual curiosity, the free exchange of ideas, to this mob groupthink mentality.
00:04:01.500 And all you are witnessing is the anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism on display.
00:04:08.020 And people need to understand that, that it's not just about Israel.
00:04:11.240 It's actually about the United States.
00:04:12.920 That's the goal.
00:04:13.800 You have a Bengali student group over at Columbia University that said it's about destroying Western civilization.
00:04:21.280 That's the end goal.
00:04:22.380 That's what they're looking to do, that the United States and Western civilization is responsible for all the world's ills.
00:04:28.820 And so it must be destroyed.
00:04:31.180 And the question is, well, then why are you here?
00:04:33.140 I mean, I just don't get it.
00:04:34.960 Yeah.
00:04:35.280 You brought up a good point.
00:04:36.740 The attacks on the college campuses, and you just called them attacks.
00:04:41.500 I'm going to call them on this show, for all intents and purposes, insurrections.
00:04:45.580 Because it's a word that the Democrats like to use so freely and openly.
00:04:49.300 They freely call people racist.
00:04:50.740 They call people insurrectionists who fight back or just merely stand up and speak out against the status quo and the norm that's not so normal anymore in this country.
00:05:01.680 You know what's so interesting to me about this whole thing, Nicholas, is that after October 7th, the months after, we saw these college campuses getting taken over.
00:05:08.860 And it just so happens it's in the middle of an election season.
00:05:13.160 Now, you know, polling shows that it kind of hurt the Democrats because even if you watch the debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, the first one.
00:05:22.700 But Trump pretty much got out there and roasted Joe Biden because he said the Palestinians hate you and the Israelis hate you because you've not taken either side.
00:05:30.960 I mean, it's very in politics.
00:05:32.480 Nick, you know better than anybody's political science professor.
00:05:34.520 It's very hard to be put in the middle of one thing and not be on either side.
00:05:38.740 You're a hard right Republican or you're a Marxist dem.
00:05:41.540 I mean, but he managed to put himself in the middle of this thing.
00:05:45.620 And after polling started to show that these riots and these insurrections across college campuses were hurting the Democrats, they all of a sudden slowly started to dwindle down.
00:05:58.920 Now, that doesn't make much sense to me.
00:06:00.440 Maybe you can explain this to the audience.
00:06:02.260 But how does that happen?
00:06:03.940 And how do you go from one day having fires and fire extinguishers and fireworks and this and occupies and camping out to now all of a sudden it just goes away when the polling shows it's hurting one side?
00:06:16.840 You have any thoughts on that?
00:06:18.380 Yeah, I do.
00:06:18.860 I mean, there's a couple of things going on.
00:06:20.320 So, first of all, you brought up the president of the United States.
00:06:23.560 And again, we see this feckless leadership.
00:06:25.980 The reality is you can't be all things to all people.
00:06:28.720 You can't sit there.
00:06:30.140 And when you're trying to play this wishy-washy game that you're supporting both sides, well, both sides will end up turning on you.
00:06:36.940 I mean, that's clear.
00:06:38.100 But when we look at the protests and why some of them have stopped, there's three reasons, right?
00:06:43.580 So it was the end of last semester that we saw a real increase in the violence, the violent rhetoric, the takeover of buildings.
00:06:51.080 And then summer came, and all of a sudden, students are on summer break.
00:06:55.400 So, you know, they can't interrupt their summer break to go cause trouble.
00:06:59.300 So that was one factor.
00:07:00.760 The next factor is that some of the colleges in the country did change leadership.
00:07:05.840 There were repercussions.
00:07:07.740 In fact, Columbia changed leadership, but that hasn't had much of an impact.
00:07:10.920 But they did change leadership at these universities where some universities are coming out, and they are taking a hotline approach.
00:07:17.960 They are having zero tolerance because they know optics-wise it looks terrible for them that they can't control their own campuses.
00:07:25.660 But the third thing I think is the most important, and it's not necessarily about the election.
00:07:30.360 It's more about the donor class.
00:07:32.900 How many donors came out and said that they are cutting off their contributions to their Alamadas?
00:07:40.620 They're no longer going to be donating to these colleges.
00:07:44.040 They don't like the radicalism that we're seeing.
00:07:46.100 And so once the funding begins to dry up, well, that forces colleges to change their behavior to take a much more proactive approach.
00:07:55.380 So I don't think it's necessarily election-related.
00:07:58.580 I think it's more funding-related than anything else, and it shows you that it is about the money.
00:08:04.340 Well, I'll argue with you on that because on January 6th, the insurrection, the worst day in America, you know, the day that undermined American democracy, the worst,
00:08:12.380 we saw a lot of violent people, but it turned out now that some of those violent people weren't exactly Trump supporters,
00:08:19.460 and they were there as demonstrators, some from the government, some from a group we know very well called Antifa.
00:08:26.380 And it makes you think, because someone by the name of George Soros, who seeks to undermine American democracy each day that goes by,
00:08:36.380 has dumped hundreds of millions of dollars into this country in one form or another way,
00:08:40.380 it would be to influence elections or, in some cases, funding Antifa.
00:08:45.840 And buying radio stations.
00:08:47.540 And buying radio stations, which the Democrats are letting him do.
00:08:50.420 So he was also said to be funding some of these groups during that time.
00:08:57.200 There's no secret that George Soros is a Marxist dem.
00:09:00.240 His son is married to Huma Abedin, which is a very odd relationship, a 20-or-something-year age gap.
00:09:07.720 I'm not sure, you know, and I'm going to refrain from what I was going to say in the best case of professionalism.
00:09:13.440 But, you know, you see these weird things that's happening.
00:09:15.840 And to go back to my point about the polling, you see Democrats that start hurting Democrats.
00:09:21.440 And then the correlation of George Soros funding these groups, these Marxist left Antifa groups.
00:09:28.000 And then all of a sudden it stops.
00:09:30.080 So my question to you is, how much of these insurrectionists do you think are paid professionals?
00:09:37.920 And how many of them are actually students who care?
00:09:40.900 Well, I think a lot of them are actually paid professionals or just random adults that don't even attend these universities.
00:09:48.300 And we actually know that through police records with many of them that were arrested, where it's like they weren't even students at these schools.
00:09:55.260 And you do have this professional activist class where they go from one protest to another protest.
00:10:02.000 And they're the disruptors.
00:10:03.620 So there is no doubt that that was taking place.
00:10:07.000 And we know a lot of money was rolling in.
00:10:09.600 And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out.
00:10:12.520 You just look at all the tents.
00:10:14.500 They were all the same tents around the entire country at these colleges and universities.
00:10:19.080 These aren't like, you know, let's buy $10 tents from Amazon.
00:10:23.060 These were really expensive and professional.
00:10:25.960 All the signs that were made.
00:10:27.760 You know, college students are supposed to be broke, right?
00:10:30.500 So when they're protesting, they get a piece of Otec paper, use a Sharpie marker, and that's their sign.
00:10:36.060 Well, they had all these professionally made signs that literally cost thousands of thousands of dollars.
00:10:42.540 So there's no doubt that there was funding behind this.
00:10:45.240 And I do believe that there was pressure behind the scenes to pull back on these protests going into the fall semester because it's an election.
00:10:54.620 But again, I think that the real reason that the colleges took action for many of them was because of the donor class.
00:11:00.840 Once you start hurting the gravy train, that's how you force people to react.
00:11:07.340 And the gravy train is the most important thing.
00:11:09.540 But I don't think it's the end with these protests.
00:11:12.340 I think it may be just the beginning.
00:11:14.820 And it's going to be interesting to see how it meshes out with the results of the election.
00:11:21.000 And that's going to really interest me because are the protests with Israel and Palestine going to just stop?
00:11:27.480 And then if Trump wins, it'll just be anti-Trump protests on college campuses.
00:11:31.640 And it tells you jumping from one thing to another.
00:11:34.520 But I will guarantee you, if you actually attend any of these protests that are going on and you talk to the students,
00:11:40.320 many of them, ask them probing questions about Israel and Palestine and Lebanon and Iran,
00:11:46.200 many of them won't be able to answer a single question, but they'll sit there and chant death to America and death to Israel.
00:11:51.540 You know, I'd love to go to one of them.
00:11:52.660 I just think, you know, something Lou tried to do to me over the last, you know,
00:11:56.840 five or six years that I worked for him was tame me.
00:11:58.760 And it was one thing that him and I shared as our hotheads and inability to control ourselves.
00:12:04.820 He was a lot better than me to his respect, but I would love to go to them.
00:12:12.100 My problem is I'd get there and I'd probably wind up doing something I shouldn't have done because of their disrespect for America.
00:12:18.560 I want to take a quick break here, Nick.
00:12:20.120 When we return, I want to go further into that government funding because people are putting their money where their mouth is,
00:12:26.820 and they are cutting off funding to these radical Marxist institutions.
00:12:31.140 And you had said Colombia, for example, changed their leadership.
00:12:34.820 Nick, it's like changing one dirty pair of underwear for another dirty pair.
00:12:38.100 I mean, it's the same garbage they're bringing in.
00:12:40.220 We're taking a quick break here.
00:12:41.220 We're talking with Nicholas Giordano.
00:12:42.880 He's a professor of political science at Suffolk Community College, and he's the host of the great podcast, The PAS Report.
00:12:49.460 We're coming right back.
00:12:50.140 Stay with us.
00:12:52.040 Folks, are you tired of supporting big box stores and multi-billion dollar corporations that don't support us?
00:12:57.300 Corporations that donate tens of millions of dollars a year to push woke Marxist dem ideologies?
00:13:01.480 Whether it be Amazon and Jeff Bezos or Target with their transgender clothing for kids, or even Bud Light going totally woke, enough is enough.
00:13:09.020 Why should we as lovers of this country continue to support these corporations?
00:13:12.740 The answer is we shouldn't.
00:13:14.560 I constantly get people who reach out to me and ask,
00:13:16.720 John, what can we do to save this country?
00:13:18.840 Where can we shop and support American-made brands and conservative ideologies?
00:13:22.900 Well, we now have a solution to stop shopping at these woke companies and stop funding the deep state and a solution to buy American.
00:13:28.940 This is something we can all do right now to kick the deep state in the teeth and stop funding our enemies and vote with our dollars.
00:13:35.880 We have a parallel economy for around 450 household products.
00:13:40.100 Not only can you cancel woke brands like Procter & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson, you can also cancel the stores that carry them.
00:13:46.240 I need you all to head over to switchwithjohn.com, that's switchwithjohn.com, where you can read all about our movement.
00:13:53.560 We have access to a conservative manufacturer that will replace these brands and the stores you buy them from.
00:13:59.060 It isn't an additional budget item because instead of turning right into Target or left into Walmart,
00:14:03.440 you're going to shop directly online, directly with the manufacturer.
00:14:06.820 Folks, this is a patriot movement that is happening right now before our eyes.
00:14:10.640 Every 47 seconds a shopper is switching to our online store and we need you to partner with us, join us, and band together.
00:14:17.520 I just canceled my Amazon Prime subscription because I've truly had enough.
00:14:20.760 So what do you say? It's time to put your money where your heart is?
00:14:24.020 Join us today and help save this nation.
00:14:25.720 Go to switchwithjohn.com, that's switchwithjohn.com, to learn how you can join thousands of other patriots and help take this nation back.
00:14:35.100 Switchwithjohn.com. We'll see you there.
00:14:39.200 We're back. We're talking with Nicholas Giordano.
00:14:41.180 He's a professor of political science at Suffolk Community College.
00:14:44.040 And for all you who have watched this show, Lou touted community colleges on this show as the greatest thing that you can possibly do because of these woke universities like Columbia University, like Harvard University, that allow these things to go on.
00:14:59.860 You go to a community college, you figure out what you want to do with your life.
00:15:02.840 When I went to college, you know, I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my life.
00:15:05.600 Never did I think I'd be sitting in front of this camera some 10 years later.
00:15:09.120 But nonetheless, you know, community college is a bang for your buck and, you know, you get your money's worth.
00:15:15.960 And I think you get, and you're going to answer this for me, a little less indoctrination.
00:15:20.040 First, I really want to turn to the gravy train like you mentioned.
00:15:23.600 Columbia University did their annual Giving Day fundraiser this week.
00:15:28.780 They received 30% less funds than in previous years.
00:15:32.020 The university raised $21.3 million in 2022, a 28% decline this year.
00:15:41.460 So it's time, I think, now.
00:15:43.600 Robert Kraft, I believe, one of their big fundraisers, the owner of the Patriots, said he wants nothing to do with them.
00:15:49.200 Who does, Nicholas?
00:15:50.080 Who wants to put their name to something that's supporting terrorists?
00:15:54.320 Well, not many people.
00:15:55.940 And so we see the people like Robert Kraft.
00:15:59.120 You know, a lot of people like to attack the billionaires, but a lot of these billionaires, they prop up some of the university systems and their endowments and whatnot.
00:16:06.820 And they're tired.
00:16:08.300 Real quick.
00:16:08.820 I just got to say it because everyone goes after billionaires.
00:16:12.440 And, of course, we're all jealous of billionaires.
00:16:14.000 We want to be billionaires ourselves.
00:16:15.300 But, Nicholas, without billionaires, this country isn't built.
00:16:19.640 I don't remember, but years ago, Occupy Wall Street, these people were coming out saying we want to get rid of banks.
00:16:24.960 Well, I hate to break it to you.
00:16:26.180 None of those buildings would be there without banks and without billionaires.
00:16:29.360 I'm sorry.
00:16:29.600 I had to get that off my chest because it's.
00:16:31.040 Yeah.
00:16:31.240 And don't forget, they also came with their Apple iPhones and their designer jeans and their Nike sneakers.
00:16:38.700 So they're all hypocrites in the end.
00:16:40.400 Slave labor, no less.
00:16:41.720 Absolutely.
00:16:42.340 But they're all hypocrites.
00:16:43.420 And that's their phonies.
00:16:44.980 It's virtue signaling.
00:16:46.240 All these people want to pat themselves on the back as if they're the moral holy warriors of the 21st century.
00:16:51.600 When in reality, all they're doing is causing disruption and annoying other people.
00:16:56.580 But the donor class pulling back their funds is a really important indicator because it tells us that they're dissatisfied with the higher education system.
00:17:04.300 And it goes beyond that, right, because we actually have employers that have publicly announced that they're not going to be hiring students that come out of these universities because they know the quality of employees that they're going to be getting if they do hire them.
00:17:19.560 And they don't want to deal with pompous, self-entitled, spoiled brats that want to express political opinions at work and make the workplace a toxic environment.
00:17:29.320 They want people who are going to produce.
00:17:31.420 So this is going to have a ripple effect.
00:17:33.540 And the colleges better wake up before the break.
00:17:35.380 You said, you know, you replace one administrator with another and it's almost the same thing.
00:17:39.980 And you're right.
00:17:40.760 There's a long line of incompetent people in academia, administrators that have all gone through this far left system.
00:17:47.000 And that's why you don't see changes happen.
00:17:50.100 But I do believe this time, while the change may happen slowly, I do think that academia does have to change.
00:17:58.080 Otherwise, it's going to push itself towards irrelevancy.
00:18:01.440 And you will see other people look more towards the community colleges.
00:18:05.580 They'll look more at trades.
00:18:07.080 They'll look more at starting a business as opposed to going to a four-year university and being indoctrinated.
00:18:13.160 Yeah.
00:18:13.640 You know, there was a book.
00:18:15.800 It was out by, I think his name is Luke Rosiak.
00:18:18.300 It was titled Race to the Bottom.
00:18:20.620 I think that's the name of the book.
00:18:22.180 And he pretty much went into how you professors are indoctrinating our children, not you specifically, but your peers.
00:18:29.300 Obviously, not me.
00:18:31.840 Indoctrinating our children and what they're doing to them.
00:18:34.140 And there was a statistic I remember reading when I read the book, Cover to Cover, that I may be missing this a little bit.
00:18:43.480 But the bottom line was that teachers and professors score among the lowest percentile on standardized testing when they go and do their boards and all those exams, which is kind of funny because these are the same people who want to sit here and teach our children.
00:18:59.280 Now, I don't hold standardized testing as the holy grail.
00:19:02.660 I think it's absolutely ridiculous and stupid because there are people who are smart who are just very bad test takers.
00:19:08.160 I could have probably went to an Ivy League school.
00:19:09.920 I didn't care to sit down and study for tests, nor would I ever want to go to an Ivy League school with what I've learned today.
00:19:14.480 I probably wouldn't make it out a semester because I would have told one of the professors to go F themselves when they try to indoctrinate me with this garbage.
00:19:22.800 But nonetheless, it's unbelievable.
00:19:25.140 But some of the things they're teaching in these schools, Nicholas, in these good schools, we'll take, for example, University of California, San Diego.
00:19:31.700 San Diego is rather conservative relative to the rest of California.
00:19:36.280 They're rolling out climate change courses and they're requiring that the students take them.
00:19:43.520 Now, this is just a new level of indoctrination we're learning about.
00:19:47.700 Usually it's, you know, this nonsense of in the past few months was Gaza and Hamas and Israel.
00:19:55.720 Now they want you to learn about climate change.
00:19:58.260 Nicholas, I talked to Mark Morano, who's one of the best climate change experts very often on this show, and he's excellent.
00:20:05.020 And he assures me that there is really nothing to worry about.
00:20:08.320 But your thoughts, I mean, as we've hit a new low of stupidity in this country.
00:20:14.060 Well, I'll say a couple of things.
00:20:15.780 So with the whole climate change thing that UC San Diego is doing, the thing that the audience needs to understand is that these are climate change degree requirements.
00:20:24.820 That in order to graduate and get a college degree, regardless of your major, you're going to have to take climate change courses.
00:20:32.700 And that's where it falls along the category of indoctrination.
00:20:36.620 I mean, if I am going to for criminal justice, well, climate change is irrelevant to my profession.
00:20:43.720 Now, if I'm going for earth science, OK, it may make sense to take a course that deals with the climate change issue.
00:20:50.520 So it's completely ridiculous.
00:20:52.080 And it's not just climate change degree requirements where we see this indoctrination being pushed.
00:20:57.740 Multiple colleges throughout the entirety of the country have also included diversity, equity and inclusion degree requirements.
00:21:04.640 So here in New York State, you have SUNY that now requires that you complete at least six credits of diversity, equity, inclusion certified courses in order to get your college degree.
00:21:16.440 Whether you're going to to become a lawyer, an accountant, a gym teacher, it doesn't matter.
00:21:22.560 Everyone has to take these courses in order to get the college degree.
00:21:25.580 And that's where it goes into the line of indoctrination.
00:21:29.820 That's not education.
00:21:31.200 And the education system itself, let's be honest, we spend one point two trillion dollars from kindergarten through higher education.
00:21:40.060 This is taxpayer money throughout the country, federal, state and local.
00:21:43.480 And what are we producing? Right.
00:21:45.720 What are we getting as a result? And it's failure.
00:21:48.320 It's incompetence. So 13 percent of students are proficient in American history.
00:21:53.400 Twenty two percent are proficient in civics.
00:21:55.640 Twenty three percent proficient in mathematics.
00:21:58.040 Twenty four percent proficient in science.
00:21:59.860 So we see the complete collapse of education.
00:22:03.760 And it's not really about education anymore.
00:22:06.340 It's now about activism.
00:22:07.900 We're going to push a political agenda and we're going to create the next generation of activists.
00:22:13.080 And I could assure you, you could match the decline within our education system with the decline of our nation.
00:22:20.500 OK, if we continue down this trend, history will show as we started to go down this road of activism and radicalism within our schools, the United States began to collapse because you can't have a bunch of people graduating that are largely incompetent.
00:22:37.100 And yet at the same time, instill them with this disdain, this hatred for the United States, that they're one day going to be leading.
00:22:46.420 Yeah. Yeah, absolutely right.
00:22:47.940 You know, I back when I got into this industry some years ago, it feels like forever now.
00:22:52.960 But I was embarrassed that I was a millennial because I thought my generation of people were the dumbest generation of people that we've ever seen in this country, just based on the stupid things that were happening.
00:23:04.180 People were eating Tide Pods.
00:23:05.600 I mean, there was Tide Pod trends.
00:23:07.320 There was all these stupid TikTok trends and Instagram trends where you did stupid.
00:23:11.040 And I'm sitting there like, is you really this stupid?
00:23:14.000 Yes.
00:23:14.200 And then we have the next generations.
00:23:15.740 And I'm like, oh, my God, it's getting worse.
00:23:17.960 I mean, is this even possible that it get this bad?
00:23:20.240 Well, actually, I'm going to be optimistic.
00:23:21.640 It's actually not getting worse.
00:23:23.000 Gen Z is actually more conservative than millennials are.
00:23:26.400 Well, yes.
00:23:27.260 But in the inception, it looked like it was it was going the wrong way.
00:23:30.480 Now, I think, like you said, it's going.
00:23:32.540 We got to take one more quick break here.
00:23:33.820 We're coming right back with Nicholas Giordano, professor of political science at Suffolk Community College.

00:24:44.520 We're back.
00:24:47.800 We're talking with Nicholas Giordano, Professor Nicholas Giordano, a professor of political science at Suffolk Community College,
00:24:53.980 host of the PAS Report, a great podcast.
00:24:56.940 I encourage you all to go subscribe and download and listen to Nicholas's guests and his insights past the show.
00:25:04.080 I want to turn to an issue that I mentioned in my opening monologue, Nick, and that's illegal immigration and the effect it's having on our schooling systems.
00:25:12.720 Now, I understand it wouldn't affect yours as much because you're in higher education,
00:25:16.040 but for kids in grade school, kids in eighth grade and below and kids in high school,
00:25:22.420 there's some states now in, like, take, for example, Oklahoma and Texas and Tennessee,
00:25:28.460 who are questioning the legality of having illegal immigrants in our schools without legal residency,
00:25:37.400 and are they entitled to public education?
00:25:40.700 Now, it's an interesting thing to think about.
00:25:43.140 I don't know really where I stand on that right now, but it's a really interesting thing if you think about it.
00:25:49.880 You're here illegally.
00:25:50.860 You're not allowed to be here, yet you're reaping the benefits of a taxpayer-funded institution.
00:25:57.840 What are your thoughts on that?
00:25:59.680 Well, by law, any child that comes over to the United States,
00:26:03.040 any child that's a minor has access to the public education system because we are a human nation,
00:26:07.980 and if we do have kids here, we would much rather than put them in schools as opposed to just being on the streets.
00:26:14.480 But it raises a really important question.
00:26:17.460 It's not cheap to provide this education.
00:26:20.380 So take New York City, for instance.
00:26:22.540 In one year, New York City got 30,000.
00:26:26.320 The New York City public education system got 30,000 newly enrolled students that were the illegal immigrants, undocumented.
00:26:36.080 Some of them were asylum seekers.
00:26:38.200 30,000.
00:26:38.940 Now, everyone needs to do the math because it costs $38,000 a year per student.
00:26:45.300 Per student.
00:26:45.980 So 30,000 new students, $38,000 a year per those 30,000 students.
00:26:52.020 You are talking about billions of taxpayer dollars that have to go to this.
00:26:57.080 But not only is it the tax dollars that's only being impacted, right?
00:27:01.060 The quality of education also gets impacted.
00:27:04.700 If you have a classroom where there's going to be five, six people, seven people that don't know the English language,
00:27:11.060 that can't speak English, well, how does that change the classroom dynamics?
00:27:15.240 How does that slow the learning levels down for everyone in the class?
00:27:19.220 And it really does become a problem.
00:27:20.840 And the schools are not equipped to handle this problem.
00:27:23.780 We see it in New York City.
00:27:25.020 We're seeing it in Chicago.
00:27:26.260 We're seeing it in Denver, Colorado.
00:27:28.440 All these states that wanted to claim their sanctuary states are now reaping the problem of what they were preaching about.
00:27:36.260 And they're all complaining because it's not like the federal government's providing the funding for these students.
00:27:41.000 This is on the local residents and the state itself to provide this education.
00:27:45.780 So it's decimating budgets across the country.
00:27:48.680 So you have taxpayer dollars that are being used.
00:27:51.880 You have students that can't speak English and are far behind.
00:27:57.060 And the schools don't have the resources to take care of them.
00:27:59.960 And so it's impacting the quality of education that American citizens and legal permanent residents get.
00:28:05.500 And then you have the broader impacts within the society of what happens when you inundate areas with people from other countries that are not supposed to be in this country.
00:28:16.920 And it really is a perfect storm that we're witnessing.
00:28:20.340 I mean, learning levels are at historic lows because of what they did during the coronavirus.
00:28:25.200 The academic achievement gaps are at their widest levels because of what they did at the coronavirus.
00:28:29.820 So students are already behind and now they're going to be falling further and further behind as they simply cycle through the system.
00:28:37.800 Yeah. You know, you mentioned the humanitarian part of it.
00:28:40.440 And I'm kind of like I said when I asked you the question, I'm kind of torn on it because, you know, I know many illegals who are in this country from Mexico and they are good people.
00:28:48.340 They're hardworking people.
00:28:49.640 But at the end of the day, Nick, they're here illegally.
00:28:51.820 They broke the law.
00:28:52.780 They came here illegally.
00:28:54.440 They're not supposed to be here in the first place.
00:28:56.600 And, you know, obviously, as Americans, as human beings, we have hearts and compassion.
00:29:02.180 But by allowing them to come here and raise their kids here and allowing them to have what is called an anchor baby,
00:29:08.340 where if you have a baby in America and you and your spouse are illegal, the baby is automatically a citizen because he's born here.
00:29:14.600 By doing that, you're incentivizing them to come here.
00:29:16.780 You're incentivizing them by allowing them to use our schooling system.
00:29:20.260 You're incentivizing them to come here.
00:29:22.720 So that's why I want to say worse than that.
00:29:24.280 You're actually incentivizing human trafficking to a large degree, too.
00:29:27.360 I don't think people recognize that, you know, when we look at the numbers, over 300,000 unaccompanied minors have crossed the border.
00:29:36.040 So when they're unaccompanied minors, they're not with any parents or anything.
00:29:39.620 And they're placed with someone that says that they're a family member.
00:29:43.120 So so I think it's actually even worse when we look at it from the humanitarian aspect.
00:29:48.280 How is that humanitarian? Because these are the ones that are going to be targeted.
00:29:53.620 And when you look at the gangs and recruitment in the gangs, you know, MS-13 isn't coming to me.
00:29:59.540 They're not coming to my children. They're not coming to my neighborhood to recruit them.
00:30:03.480 Who are they recruiting? Well, they're trying to recruit, you know, those unaccompanied minors that came into the country that don't have any real connections,
00:30:10.500 that feel isolated or lonely. That's who they're going to recruit.
00:30:13.420 So I think that what this administration has done, in my opinion, it crosses the criminal threshold.
00:30:20.360 They opened the borders. They allowed this problem to happen.
00:30:23.560 They thought they could control it. They have now lost all control over it.
00:30:27.020 And the situation is getting far worse.
00:30:29.920 Well, it's not necessarily just this administration.
00:30:32.700 It's Obama who gave us DACA that's been sitting in the courts.
00:30:35.900 I mean, for years and years and years where he says these people are allowed to come here.
00:30:40.240 I mean, it just blows my mind.
00:30:42.260 And I want to turn to something, an issue that we have in this country.
00:30:45.120 And it's first we have these illegals who come through the southern border to come to school.
00:30:49.180 Then we have an issue of people we allowed to come in here with visas.
00:30:52.960 Now, I have a lot of friends from other countries, very, very wealthy people who can't come to this country.
00:30:58.680 And I'm talking European countries who can't come to this country because it's very hard for them to get visas.
00:31:04.320 And it's people who own businesses in other countries who are very, very well off by even American standards.
00:31:10.940 And they can't get a visa to come here.
00:31:12.220 They want to come visit.
00:31:13.260 They don't care about coming to move here or stay over, stay their visas.
00:31:16.620 They run successful businesses overseas.
00:31:18.140 But they can't get visas.
00:31:20.080 Yet we have, Nicholas, speaking of college, immigrants coming from or migrants coming from China and Asian countries, but specifically China, who they give out visas like it's absolutely nothing to come to our school system.
00:31:34.500 Well, let me tell you a story about what's happening in this country this week.
00:31:37.560 Five Chinese graduates of the University of Michigan were caught spying on U.S. military bases, this according to the FBI.
00:31:45.600 The incident occurred during Northern Strike Exercises, one of the largest U.S. National Guard training exercises held in America.
00:31:52.380 The students were charged with false statements, conspiracy, destruction, alteration of falsification of records in a federal investigation.
00:32:00.120 Now, these are people who are doing espionage, right?
00:32:03.460 They're coming here.
00:32:04.140 They mean to harm America.
00:32:05.840 You're not spying on military bases.
00:32:07.400 This is Nicholas for fun.
00:32:08.580 Maybe as a child, you and I would go watch the planes land at Newburgh Airport or wherever and think it was cool.
00:32:15.720 We go to air shows and watch it.
00:32:17.260 This is college age students who just graduated, who received education from our country that we give visas to like it's nothing.
00:32:25.640 These are enemies.
00:32:26.700 You're spying on our infrastructure.
00:32:29.400 You're spying on our military.
00:32:30.980 These are enemies.
00:32:32.140 I mean, what are we to do?
00:32:33.760 Are we supposed to stop visas altogether for people who want to come to college in America because we have bad actors?
00:32:40.500 And people will argue it's only a few people.
00:32:43.440 But Nicholas, all takes a lot.
00:32:46.080 And Congress should be investigating this.
00:32:47.820 Yeah, but it's more relative to the sample size, you know, of all kids going to college.
00:32:53.700 But it's not.
00:32:54.500 And that's the part of our problem.
00:32:55.640 I wrote a whole article about this published in Daily Wire about a year and a half ago where our institutions have become reliant on federal, on foreign monies and on foreign students.
00:33:06.900 The reality is that a lot of Americans aren't going into the STEM programs and these college universities need to fill their seats.
00:33:14.880 And so they recruit from other countries to fill those seats and they pay exorbitant amounts of tuition.
00:33:21.580 Now, China has figured out a way to influence the system and understand that we've seen China influence the system where they have agents on tons of the research universities, the major research universities throughout the country.
00:33:36.060 They're there to conduct espionage operations, identify people that could serve as spies, look at the research projects, try and recruit professors.
00:33:45.240 And we've seen this happen.
00:33:46.400 Harvard University, Charles Lieber, Professor Charles Lieber, was actually convicted of spying for China.
00:33:52.820 I mean, he was feeding China information and he was getting all this money from the Chinese government.
00:33:58.180 He was actually on contract with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, interestingly enough.
00:34:04.220 But you look at it, it is really dangerous and it's national security that's at risk.
00:34:09.320 So this is a measure that Congress should look at is what is the national security threat of having all these foreign students come?
00:34:17.280 And even if it's not for espionage purposes, understand that these foreign students will go to some of the best engineering schools here in the United States.
00:34:26.320 They are then going to leave, go back to their native countries to improve and bring the technologies to their countries, which are in direct competition with us for global power.
00:34:36.820 So it really falls into a national security issue that should be investigated.
00:34:41.100 And China is the worst of the worst offenders in this.
00:34:45.080 The saddest part of it all is we let them do it.
00:34:47.140 I want to wrap up with this.
00:34:48.080 I know you're tight on time.
00:34:49.680 Another big issue that it's been in Congress and all around for years now, and it's men playing in women's sports.
00:34:57.400 And notice I didn't say transgender because biologically there's no such thing as transgender.
00:35:01.700 Nicholas, you're either a man or you're a woman.
00:35:03.820 That's it.
00:35:04.540 There's two different DNA makeups.
00:35:06.600 There's no transitioning from a man to a woman.
00:35:09.440 You're a man in a woman's body, a woman in a man's body.
00:35:12.540 There's no such thing as transgender.
00:35:14.200 I got to get that out of the way.
00:35:16.180 There's some people who are fighting back.
00:35:18.660 Nevada's women's volleyball team has taken a vote among the team members that they will forfeit against any team who has men playing as women in their sports.
00:35:30.100 I mean, it goes against the school's policy, but I mean, hats off to these people.
00:35:34.400 Enough's enough, Nicholas.
00:35:35.380 You know, at some point you've got to take a stand, right?
00:35:39.620 I mean, 80% of the public is behind what these women are doing for Nevada, and 80% of the public thinks it's ridiculous.
00:35:48.100 And it's also dangerous, right?
00:35:49.440 I mean, obviously, as men, we're bigger, we're stronger, we're faster.
00:35:52.500 Are there exceptions to the rule?
00:35:54.180 Sure.
00:35:54.920 But the reality is that we are built differently.
00:35:59.000 Men and women are different, and it's not a secret.
00:36:01.540 It's not a surprise.
00:36:02.840 And that's why everyone needs to push back.
00:36:04.660 I mean, I think that this is one of the unspoken issues that's going to impact the 2024 elections, but the reality is enough with the stupidity, all right?
00:36:13.260 We've got to bring back common sense.
00:36:15.020 And the reality is you don't change anything for maybe 0.1% of society, you know?
00:36:20.740 And from a party that claims that they care about women, it's interesting to see them let men dominate in a bunch of women's categories.
00:36:29.460 It's interesting to see them let men apply for women-only scholarships, to let men win women-only beauty pageants, to let men win state championships for women-only sports.
00:36:41.720 So they don't really care about women the way they say they do, and I think it's an affront to our entire country, and the nonsense just needs that.
00:36:50.380 Yeah, it's unbelievable.
00:36:52.140 I mean, it makes me want to almost go back to graduate school, and I was a hell of a baseball player.
00:36:57.640 Go back and play women's softball.
00:36:59.060 I mean, it's become such a damn joke what we've allowed this country to come to.
00:37:04.280 And an overwhelming majority of it is men playing in women's sports because no woman wants to sit in, you know, at least any smart one.
00:37:12.360 I don't know a woman who would want to go out and play football with a bunch of men.
00:37:15.140 It sounds like a recipe for injury and disaster.
00:37:18.240 I mean, Nicholas, this country is going to a hell in a handbasket.
00:37:23.200 There's a few people who are doing a good job at not indoctrinating our children and waking them up to the realities of what be, and you're one of them.
00:37:31.380 Where can people listen to your podcast?

00:37:47.640 Anyone with that, you don't need an education for that, an American education.
00:37:51.160 It's very simple.
