Hello everybody, I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Friday, December 19th.
00:00:06.500
President Trump just moments ago announcing deals with nine pharmaceutical companies
00:00:14.980
This is President Trump's fight that he's taken on since day one
00:00:17.960
against the pharmaceutical companies and their overcharging of the American people.
00:00:23.140
Take a listen to President Trump just moments ago with the big announcement.
00:00:25.680
I'm thrilled to be joined by the leaders of nine of the world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers,
00:00:33.040
all very big names, celebrities in their own right, very, very powerful people.
00:00:40.040
And they head some of the most admired companies anywhere in the world.
00:00:44.640
It's a great group to announce that they've agreed to offer many of their flagship drugs,
00:00:51.240
really all of their flagship drugs, at heavily discounted most favored nations prices.
00:00:57.100
In other words, whatever the drug sales were over the world, in the world,
00:01:02.220
whatever the lowest number is, if it's Germany, if it's in the UK, anywhere,
00:01:16.060
We've been laughed at and scoffed at for years, for years.
00:01:19.400
In fact, I was going to do it in my first term, but unfortunately, with the advent of COVID,
00:01:26.520
as you would say, it was not, I don't think it was a very good time to be hitting up Spain, Italy, France.
00:01:35.700
So the hardest thing to do was going to be to get a country to do it,
00:01:40.640
because we would have a pill in New York that was for sale for $130,
00:01:46.520
and you could buy it in Germany and France and Spain and someplace.
00:01:54.740
So we'd pay 10 or 13 times more, pay five times more, pay all different prices.
00:02:03.280
Now, the pharmaceutical companies were difficult, but they also love our country.
00:02:13.820
Now, as you folks heard, TrumpRx, which is President Trump's website,
00:02:18.900
well, you'll be able to go on and just buy your prescription
00:02:20.800
straight from the pharmaceutical companies, getting the middlemen out,
00:02:25.940
And while President Trump was announcing that record-breaking deal
00:02:30.680
Secretary of State Marco Rubio was doing his own thing.
00:02:37.280
telling everybody that we're going to get America cleaned up
00:02:41.600
We can't take any more people into this country,
00:02:50.020
and that is we've admitted a lot of people into the United States,
00:02:52.580
and perhaps the overwhelming majority of them are not bad people and so forth.
00:02:56.840
But there are people, we know, okay, for a fact,
00:02:59.080
there are people in this country who got in through some form of vetting
00:03:05.520
And we've seen tragic evidence of that very recently,
00:03:11.860
Because there are some places where you can't vet people.
00:03:14.120
You can only vet people on the basis of information you have about them.
00:03:17.300
But that information is oftentimes dependent on
00:03:19.800
whether there's some local authority that actually has any information about them.
00:03:25.480
which is why the president has sort of put a stop to all of these things
00:03:28.280
until these systems for admitting people into our country can be improved.
00:03:31.940
But I think everyone would understand that after a flood of 15 to 20 million people
00:03:35.780
into our country, almost unrestrained in some extent,
00:03:39.040
over the last four years before taking over in January of this year,
00:03:42.820
there's a desire in our country to put a stop to that
00:03:46.940
to ensure that not only do we know who's in the country now,
00:03:49.600
but in the future, we're not going to face some of these challenges
00:03:54.200
So, look, the United States remains the most generous country in the world
00:03:59.140
This year alone, close to a million people will enter this country legally
00:04:03.820
But we do have a right, like every sovereign country does,
00:04:08.980
and what we think you might or might not do in the future.
00:04:11.740
We have a right to make sure that you're not going to come to this country
00:04:14.160
and pose a burden on our social safety network.
00:04:18.520
All of these things are rights of sovereign countries.
00:04:20.940
A bunch of sovereign countries in the world do it.
00:04:23.260
Most of the countries in the world have far more restrictive immigration policies
00:04:31.560
This is, right now, we are less than a year removed
00:04:34.280
from the most reckless migratory incompetence in American history,
00:04:38.460
where a flood of people and mass migration events
00:04:42.680
And they can claim all they want that they vetted people.
00:04:51.240
had no documents upon which they could be vetted on.
00:04:55.220
The Trump administration continuing to make America great again.
