00:00:11.640 Today, the big news out of the Big Apple.
00:00:14.020 A New York City jury found Marine veteran Daniel Penny not guilty of criminally negligent homicide
00:00:19.800 in the chokehold death of Jordan Neely in New York City's subway car in 2023.
00:00:24.820 Penny, who was 26 years old, pled not guilty to charges of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
00:00:32.000 The judge in the case dismissed the second-degree manslaughter charges against Penny on Friday
00:00:36.120 after jurors said they could not come to unanimous decision.
00:00:39.840 Jurors in the case deliberated for more than 20 hours.
00:00:42.640 Penny faced a maximum possible sentence of 15 years in prison on the manslaughter charge
00:00:46.480 or four years on the negligent homicide charge.
00:00:49.560 The acquittal came after jurors heard from more than 40 witnesses.
