00:00:00.000 Hello everybody, I'm John Fawcett with This Great America Show, Midday Update for Monday, February 3rd.
00:00:05.720 Hope you folks all had a great weekend. Your week's off to a great start.
00:00:09.540 Promises made, promises kept. The trade wars are underway.
00:00:13.680 Well, it's not really a trade war, but that's what the Marxist Dems want you to think when they broadcast on their mainstream Marxist networks.
00:00:21.180 We're in a trade war. We're in a trade war with Mexico and Canada and China.
00:00:25.580 And that's not entirely true. President Trump enacting his tariffs on Saturday.
00:00:32.020 They go into effect tomorrow, or actually tonight at midnight.
00:00:35.360 Markets didn't react too well to them at the open this morning, but since rebounding, Dow is in the green.
00:00:41.380 NASDAQ down slightly and the S&P also down slightly, but they've come back a long way.
00:00:45.560 Some of the indices down multiple hundred points.
00:00:49.100 So, Canada is not relenting. Justin Trudeau wants to be the big tough guy in the race.
00:00:54.180 He's pledging not to buy any American-made bourbon or whiskey or anything that Americans make.
00:01:00.180 One province in Canada actually canceling an order of Starlinks or $100 million.
00:01:05.000 That's fine. They can go without the internet. That's on them. Joke's on them.
00:01:09.460 But what President Trump is simply asking these countries to do is to just stop the inflow of migrants at their border with America.
00:01:18.440 Is that too much to ask for? Well, if you ask Justin Trudeau, it's too much to ask for.
00:01:23.760 He wants to be the dictator and savior of the day, the big shot.
00:01:28.240 Well, if he were to succeed against President Trump, he'd be the first person, at least in my lifetime, to succeed against President Trump.
00:01:35.300 But in recent years, at least, I don't see Trudeau as the man who's going to go ahead and do that.
00:01:41.440 We saw what President Trump did to those 16 Republicans on the stage in 2016 and everyone else who came against him in 2020 and then 2024.
00:01:50.920 It doesn't work out too well for these folks.
00:01:52.940 So good luck to Trudeau and may the best man win or woman or, you know, whatever.
00:01:59.780 We don't want to assume what Justin Trudeau is.
00:02:02.300 Down in Mexico, President Scheinbaum.
00:02:04.640 She called it quits.
00:02:06.880 The tariffs were supposed to go to Mexico as well, but Scheinbaum waving the white flag.
00:02:13.100 Claudia Scheinbaum agreed to send 10,000 troops to its northern border as one of the ways to stop the 25% tariff on them.
00:02:20.520 The concession comes days after grandstanding by the Mexican president who publicly claimed she would stand up for her country's sovereignty.
00:02:28.240 Well, that didn't last very long.
00:02:29.960 Well, President Trump's going to hold up on the tariffs on them for just about a month while they try to negotiate a deal.
00:02:36.600 Mexico is a very big problem with the fentanyl.
00:02:38.800 We need to cut it through that border.
00:02:40.280 We need to stop it through that border.
00:02:42.160 Enough's enough.
00:02:42.880 President Trump doing all he can.
00:02:45.960 Now it's going to take, you know, the Mexican government to go ahead and help us out here if they are good people.
00:02:52.920 Now, if they don't want to help us, it tells you all you need to know.
00:02:56.140 So, President Trump not only going after Mexico, Canada, and China.
00:03:01.940 President Trump, in a recent interview aboard Air Force One, says the United States has a large trade deficit with the United Kingdom, but it can be worked out amicably.
00:03:11.100 But the European Union's atrocity is a whole different ballgame.
00:03:14.460 President Trump reportedly set to start looking at what they can do to impose some maybe tariffs, we'll call them, on the European Union and stop them from taking advantage of this country.
00:03:25.400 It's nice to see a president who has America's best interest as his interest.
00:03:32.260 You know, we don't often see that.
00:03:34.340 We haven't seen it, certainly, for the last four years.
00:03:36.480 So, it's nice to see that President Trump is doing the Lord's work for us.
00:03:42.080 And President Trump making good on one of his campaign promises to shut down one of the biggest criminal organizations in America.
00:03:48.500 That's the U.S. Agency for International Development, USAID.
00:03:52.580 The employees who worked there got a little bit of a, you know, funny for some, not so funny for others, email on Sunday night.
00:03:59.940 Quote, at the direction of the agency's leadership, who's now headed by Marco Rubio, at the direction of the agency's leadership, the USAID headquarters at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C., will be closed to agency personnel on Monday, February 3rd, 2025.
00:04:18.600 Hmm.
00:04:19.440 The email continued.
00:04:20.380 Further guidance will be forthcoming.
00:04:22.540 Anyone who works in the building is asked to work remote, with the exception of those essential on-site building maintenance duty workers.
00:04:30.900 So, President Trump, once again, promises made, promises kept, folks.
00:04:35.780 Folks, please be sure to join us for today's episode of The Great America Show.
00:04:39.340 We're joined by radio host and legend, the great Rich Valdez.
00:04:44.320 We take up DEI.
00:04:46.240 You know that big problem that's been plaguing this country for the last four years?
00:04:48.940 Well, it's on its way out the door, but we take that up.
00:04:51.820 We take up this border crisis, the tariff crisis, and much, much more.
00:04:56.400 It's today on The Great America Show, folks.
00:04:58.520 I'm John Fossett with this midday update.
00:05:00.820 Have a great day, everybody.
