Hello everybody, I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Thursday,
00:00:07.560
Earlier today, President Trump met with China's communist dictator Xi Jinping in Busan, South
00:00:12.760
Korea, for talks that were focused heavily on lifting recent restrictions and tariffs
00:00:19.620
Following the meeting that President Trump described in a statement as truly great, the
00:00:23.700
two sides confirmed that China would lift restrictions on exporting rare earth and critical
00:00:28.020
minerals, which Beijing has imposed in response to tariffs on its goods.
00:00:32.460
The restrictions would be paused for a year, potentially returning if Beijing and Washington
00:00:39.140
But President Trump appeared positive about restrictions not returning during his remarks
00:00:43.520
on Air Force One while en route back to America.
00:00:47.260
President Trump also speaking to the media on Air Force One saying tremendous amounts of
00:00:51.440
soybeans and other foreign products are going to be purchased immediately by China.
00:00:56.960
Take a listen to President Trump on his meeting with Xi Jinping.
00:01:06.040
A leader of a very powerful, very strong country, China.
00:01:14.760
We have, it was an outstanding group of decisions I think that was made.
00:01:27.080
And we've come to conclusion on many, very important points.
00:01:30.820
And we'll be handing that to you in a little while.
00:01:33.220
You know, we're having, because there's a lot of, a lot of different things.
00:01:38.400
President Trump is set to meet again with Xi Jinping.
00:01:41.560
He says in April, either in Washington, D.C. or in Florida, I would assume at Mar-a-Lago,
00:01:47.260
President Trump also going to reciprocate with a trip to China somewhere around that time.
00:01:53.060
President Trump, when speaking to the media, also says that they discussed Ukraine and that
00:01:57.180
China is going to help the United States and Russia and Ukraine try to come together on an agreement,
00:02:10.500
And we're both going to work together to see if we can get something done.
00:02:14.120
We agree that the sides are, you know, locked in and fighting.
00:02:18.860
And sometimes you have to let them fight, I guess.
00:02:21.240
But he's going to help us, and we're going to work together on Ukraine.
00:02:28.200
You know, he's been buying oil from Russia for a long time.
00:02:35.020
And, you know, I can say India's been very good on that front.
00:02:45.160
We discussed working together to see if we could get that war finished.
00:02:55.040
I'd like to see 6,000, 7,000, 8,000 young people, mostly young people, for the most part soldiers, be killed.
00:03:03.340
Just hours before President Trump met with Xi Jinping,
00:03:05.980
President Trump announced Wednesday night from South Korea that he has ordered the Department of War
00:03:10.480
to, quote, immediately start testing nuclear weapons,
00:03:13.680
something the United States has not done since 1992, the end of the Cold War.
00:03:19.360
Trump's statement came just an hour before I said he was scheduled to meet with President Xi Jinping in South Korea,
00:03:25.840
also after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the successful test of two nuclear-powered,
00:03:30.760
nuclear-capable weapons systems, a cruise missile and an underwater drone.
00:03:37.880
But if push comes to shove, he's going to have to be the president of war and keep the rest of the world in check.
00:03:48.480
And the rhinos in the Senate just can't get their acts together, folks.
00:03:53.700
I don't know what their deal is, what the problem is.
00:03:57.020
30 days, day 30 now, the government shut down, the Chuck Schumer shut down.
00:04:01.260
And you would think that the Republicans in the Senate and the House would let the Marxist Dems implode on themselves.
00:04:08.780
Last night, the Senate voted to nuke President Trump's, no pun intended, by the way,
00:04:15.440
This is the second time this year that the Senate has voted to repeal President Trump's tariffs on Canada.
00:04:20.120
Now, the problem here, the Republicans, well, four rhinos, we'll call them,
00:04:25.380
Rand Paul, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins,
00:04:29.040
the four rhinos, House Speaker Mike Johnson will not hold a vote on the measure.
00:04:35.900
And to show who the rhinos are, President Trump never would sign that measure into law anyway.
00:04:41.280
President Trump on Saturday increased tariffs on Canada by 10 percent of what they're now paying
00:04:45.780
after the government of Ontario played that deceptive Ronald Reagan ad during the World Series.
00:04:50.780
Canada then came out and said they were going to look to or the prime minister of Canada rather came out and said
00:04:55.020
they're going to look to Asia to replace America.
00:04:57.940
Well, good luck. There's a little bit of water in between the two countries.
