00:00:00.000 I'm Lou Dobbs with this Great America Show midday update for October 4th.
00:00:04.960 Promises broken and history made. Kevin McCarthy lost the speakership largely because he did
00:00:10.900 backroom and side deals with the Marxist Dems and Joe Biden. He's the first speaker in American
00:00:16.900 history to have been voted out of office. And now the race is on to see who replaces him.
00:00:23.240 Congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio has just announced he's running to be the new speaker,
00:00:27.740 the highly respected and well-regarded chairman of the House Judiciary Committee
00:00:32.400 is, in my opinion, the most qualified and talented successor to McCarthy.
00:00:37.500 And the House Majority Leader, Steve Scalise, is said to be positioning himself
00:00:41.860 behind the scenes as well. Whip Tom Emmer has also been mentioned as interested.
00:00:47.560 President Trump has said he'd be open to serving as speaker for a short term
00:00:51.580 if it would help the Republicans. Newt Gingrich,
00:00:55.120 no fan of the rough and tumble of the political arena and the Washington Circus.
00:01:00.860 He called the Freedom Caucus and other conservatives in the House traitors. Gingrich,
00:01:06.480 furious that his friend was betrayed, but he didn't mention that McCarthy flat out lied to the
00:01:11.920 conference and the conservatives, promising regular order that he wouldn't move legislation
00:01:17.200 that didn't have a Republican majority. Instead, he moved with Democrat votes and sold out the GOP
00:01:24.740 in debt ceiling negotiations with Biden and in the latest continuing resolution to keep government
00:01:30.540 open. More fallout. We find out McCarthy had also permitted Nancy Pelosi to have a private office
00:01:37.620 in the House. Speaker pro-temporary Patrick McHenry, to his credit, ordered Pelosi moved out of the
00:01:44.720 hideaway office by today. Not good optics at all.
00:01:48.740 Our guest today is Roger Stone, best-selling author and political strategist, and he has,
00:01:55.380 without any question, new ideas about what this new Congress can do. Please join us for that and
00:02:01.660 more on The Great America Show today. I'm Lou Dobbs with this Great America Midday Update.
