00:00:00.000 Hello everybody, I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Wednesday, October 8th.
00:00:05.040 President Trump's crackdown on crime in America continues.
00:00:09.020 FBI Director Cash Patel and Deputy AG Todd Blanchard in Chicago this afternoon
00:00:13.040 addressing some law enforcement as President Trump is calling for the imprisonment
00:00:17.420 of Governor J.B. Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson for their role in making Chicago just a very, very unsafe place.
00:00:24.420 President Trump posting on Truth Social, quote, Chicago mayor should be in jail for failing to protect ICE officers.
00:00:30.720 Governor Pritzker also.
00:00:32.580 Cash Patel laying out some of the crime numbers they have in Chicago, and it's a lot worse than I thought
00:00:38.120 and probably most of you thought.
00:00:40.180 There's allegedly 110,000 gang members on the streets of Chicago.
00:00:45.220 They've had 1,200 shootings and 360 homicides this year alone.
00:00:48.800 Take a listen, FBI Director Cash Patel.
00:00:51.020 We are taking the juggernaut that is demolishing the weaponization of law enforcement and bringing it to places like Chicago.
00:00:57.160 When I was there today with Todd, we learned that the Chicago city streets have 110,000 gang members.
00:01:03.160 That's right, you heard me right.
00:01:04.320 They had 1,200 shootings this year alone, 360 homicides.
00:01:08.920 When politicians choose to side with those metrics and not their citizenry,
00:01:13.640 thank God we have President Trump and this Department of Justice and this FBI going in there and crushing violent crime.
00:01:18.640 President Trump sent us into these cities quietly to set the stage, to set up for the National Guard,
00:01:23.600 to see the success that we saw in Washington, D.C., in Memphis.
00:01:26.800 The FBI has been leading the charge in every single one of these streets because we know how to gather ground-level intelligence
00:01:32.160 and we know how to put handcuffs on the bad guys, and we know that we have the backing of this administration.
00:01:36.660 And most importantly, the agents at the FBI know that they have the backing of the American people and their government.
00:01:42.360 And as I always say here, folks, on The Great America Show, where is the people's right to live in a safe city?
00:01:48.400 Where is the people's right to not have to worry about getting shot by a stray bullet?
00:01:54.180 Where is the people's right to be able to go outside and not have to worry about any crime in their city?
00:01:59.880 That's the question I asked J.B. Pritzker and Brandon Johnson.
00:02:03.160 And it's now been a week since the Chuck Schumer-Hakim Jeffries government shutdown.
00:02:07.860 Doesn't seem there's an end in sight.
00:02:09.700 Right. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi making her media rounds to gloat and brag and do whatever she's got to do. 1.00
00:02:15.760 Continuing the Marxist Dem plan and the Marxist Dem trend of face-planting on national television
00:02:22.300 when trying to lie about the government shutdown and why it still shut down and who shut it down.
00:02:27.920 Take a listen to Pelosi. Now, it's unclear if she was sober or on any sort of alcohol this early in the morning,
00:02:35.500 but take a listen to Pelosi, please.
00:02:37.260 Just, I mean, I understand what you're saying about where the differences are, and they are very big.
00:02:42.980 They are voting yes on what we say here in Washington, a clean CR,
00:02:47.260 a bill to keep the government running for seven weeks, and Democrats are voting no,
00:02:52.160 and for the reasons you just said. So how are they shutting down the government?
00:02:55.720 First of all, it isn't a clean CR. Okay.
00:02:58.220 So let's not stipulate to that. It's not a clean CR. What do they have in it?
00:03:01.940 It's going into that. The point is...
00:03:04.720 Of course, Pelosi, not really knowing where she even is,
00:03:09.660 can't really explain why the Democrats wanted to shut down the government
00:03:12.640 and why the Democrats are playing games with the lives of the American people. 0.99
00:03:17.440 Doesn't make much sense to me. Probably doesn't make any sense to you.
00:03:20.420 And maybe some good news coming out of the Supreme Court in the next few days.
00:03:23.600 A report released this afternoon found that Republicans can pick up
00:03:27.160 an additional 19 congressional district if the Supreme Court were to void
00:03:31.260 all parts of a civil rights error law.
00:03:34.180 The Supreme Court will rehear Louisiana v. Callias,
00:03:37.420 a case that could result in the elimination of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act,
00:03:41.380 a provision that bars racial gerrymandering when it dilutes minority voting power.
00:03:46.120 However, this is coming up either this week or next week in the Supreme Court,
00:03:49.940 so the Republicans could possibly pick up another few seats,
00:03:53.820 which would probably help their chances coming into the 2026 midterm elections.
00:03:58.840 But never underestimate the Republicans' possibilities to screw something up
00:04:03.220 that seems so perfect.
00:04:05.000 And former FBI Director James Comey turning himself in today in federal court,
00:04:10.180 pleading not guilty to lying to Congress.
00:04:12.460 This, Comey, seems to all of us, is more than just guilty of lying to Congress.
00:04:18.720 I guess we'll have to wait and see what Pam Bondi does, 1.00
00:04:21.600 and if she decides to bring some federal charges against him
00:04:24.660 for all the bad malice he's done to President Trump
00:04:28.420 and the malice he's done to this country,
00:04:30.740 on behalf, of course, of the deep state operation they've been running
00:04:33.920 for the last 10 years, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
00:04:37.560 Comey, nonetheless, pleading not guilty,
00:04:39.440 beyond laughable, I think, for all of us who have witnessed
00:04:42.640 what's gone on the last 10 years.
00:04:45.020 Folks, please be sure to join us tonight, 6 p.m. Eastern Time
00:04:47.360 for The Great America Show.
00:04:48.340 That's 6 p.m. Eastern Time for The Great America Show.
00:04:51.860 We'll see you there tonight.
00:04:53.380 So much to talk about, so much to get to,
00:04:56.040 and we're covering it all tonight on The Great America Show.
00:04:58.540 I'm John Fawcett with this Midday Update.
00:05:00.720 Have a great day, everybody.
