00:00:05.720 New York City Mayor Eric Adams federally indicted.
00:00:08.880 Eric Adams has been indicted on charges including wire fraud, bribery, and conspiracy
00:00:13.160 out of the Southern District of New York, becoming the first sitting New York City mayor to face criminal prosecution.
00:00:19.580 Some of the charges include conspiracy, wire fraud, bribery, and solicitation of a contribution by a foreign nation.
00:00:26.240 According to federal prosecutors, Adams accepted illegal, quote,
00:00:29.960 straw contributions to his campaign going back nearly a decade.
00:00:34.260 Quote, for nearly a decade, Adams sought and accepted improper valuable benefits such as luxury international travel,
00:00:40.620 including from the wealthy foreign business people, and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him,

00:00:48.460 As Adams' prominence and power grew, his foreign national benefactors sought to cash in on their corrupt relationships with him,

00:01:06.780 With 40 days until election day, Gallup has some great polling for Republicans.
00:01:11.900 More American adults identify as Republicans in the third quarter of the presidential year for the first time in recorded history,

00:01:20.400 The finding is rather significant because party identification is a strong indicator of party preferences
00:01:26.180 leading into the November presidential, House, and Senate elections.
00:01:31.000 Gallup is reporting that 48% American adults identify as Republican or leading Republican,
00:01:37.080 while only 45% identify as Democrat or leading Democrat.
00:01:41.180 Decision Desk HQ predicts that Republicans have a 57% chance of keeping control of the House,
00:01:47.780 and in the Senate, Republicans have a 71% chance of retaking control, according to their latest forecast.
