00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm John Fossett with this Great America Show midday update for Tuesday, September 8th.
00:00:04.760 Happy Tuesday, folks. I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend. Your weeks are off to a great start.
00:00:09.940 President Trump putting his money where his mouth is.
00:00:12.840 President Trump's super PAC shelling out his first $10 million bid.
00:00:17.000 Well, I should say gift.
00:00:19.240 This one goes to Ken Paxson and his Senate campaign down in Texas.
00:00:25.120 As I said, its first general election contribution ahead of the November midterms,
00:00:28.640 according to the filing that was just made available today.
00:00:31.880 Now, it's a welcome sign for Republicans who have implored President Trump
00:00:34.840 to mobilize his massive campaign war chest
00:00:36.960 and that he must get out and back Ken Paxton
00:00:40.400 because the Republicans, or I should say rhinos, in the Senate
00:00:44.560 have no intention to do so.
00:00:46.640 They're still very butthurt that President Trump endorsed Paxton over Cornyn.
00:00:51.440 Can't seem to get over themselves.
00:00:52.960 So President Trump putting his money where his mouth is.
00:00:55.780 Now, somebody who doesn't put their money where their mouth is, is someone out in Los Angeles, California. 1.00
00:01:02.360 Now, House Republicans are having some questions for L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, but she doesn't care. 0.99
00:01:08.160 The mayor is blowing off a request to peer in Washington, D.C. to explain what happened to the more than $1 billion in tax dollars that she received to combat homelessness. 0.93
00:01:19.080 Now, will she be prosecuted for not appearing?
00:01:21.440 Probably not.
00:01:22.380 the House's bunch of feckless Republicans, but Congressman Tim Burchett, as part of the panel,
00:01:28.100 says he's not going to accept her excuse. Burchett says she must be held accountable,
00:01:32.960 and he will do everything he can to make sure that she shows up, or, as I said, be held accountable.
00:01:39.300 President Trump over the weekend escalating his trade war with Canada, announcing that Bombardier,
00:01:44.460 a Canadian aircraft manufacturer, will no longer be allowed to sell its jets to the United States
00:01:49.180 unless they decide to come build in the United States.
00:01:52.800 Now, last month, Trump slapped a 50% tariff on about $20 billion of Canadian goods.
00:01:57.980 Canada's Mark Carney response reportedly announced plans to impose tariffs of 15% to 50% on American goods,
00:02:04.860 although Carney's already been taking advantage of America and our farmers,
00:02:07.640 so nothing really new on that front.
00:02:11.560 But President Trump is now threatening to decertify Canadian business jets
00:02:15.420 and their manufacturing if they do not start producing in America.
00:02:20.300 It seems Mark Carney should get his act together
00:02:22.240 before it's too late for his country, his prime ministership,
00:02:26.780 or any trade with America, perhaps.
00:02:29.560 I guess you mess with the bull and you get the horns.
00:02:33.200 Some really promising numbers out of America this afternoon. 1.00
00:02:36.460 Younger workers who are not college graduates
00:02:38.500 are seeing one of the lowest unemployment rates in recent history,
00:02:42.680 According to a Burning Glass Institute analysis that was reported by the Wall Street Journal, the analysis is for those between the ages of 22 and 34 without diplomas from a higher education institute.
00:02:54.540 The historically low unemployment rate for this demographic, which rivals low since 2003, breaks with rates of unemployment among college-educated peers in the same age window.
00:03:05.100 So, seems pretty promising for these folks
00:03:09.260 The report comes now just days after extremely strong job numbers
00:03:13.040 With the United States adding 162,000 jobs in August
00:03:16.360 The unemployment holding at 4.1%, same rate as it was in July
00:03:21.160 The latest jobs report, of course, blowing past all economists' predictions
00:03:25.080 As they usually do, they predicted 55,000 jobs
00:03:28.860 And an uptick in unemployment to 4.2
00:03:31.260 So unemployment, as I said, stayed safe, and the jobs were 162,000.
00:03:35.940 So they missed by a tiny, tiny bit.
00:03:39.520 SpaceX, a company that is owned and managed by probably the smartest man on this planet, Elon Musk.
00:03:46.080 Elon Musk is planning to create a $100 billion rocket launch site in Louisiana,
00:03:51.740 which would support thousands of Starship flights each and every single year.
00:03:56.760 Elon has created a vast amount, speaking of millionaires,
00:03:59.680 a vast amount of millionaires, blue-collar millionaires, who have been with him at Tesla.
00:04:04.720 So some jobs now coming to Louisiana. The rocket company plans to build the site in Vermilion
00:04:09.400 Parish, marking it the second Starbase campus, and the fourth SpaceX launch location in the
00:04:15.000 United States. The site construction will start in 2027, allow for launches by 2029. Elon Musk
00:04:22.260 predicted in an announcement video that the Starbase in Louisiana would eventually create
00:04:26.480 probably 10,000 really exciting jobs in the state. Elon Musk continues to help make America great
00:04:34.920 again, continues to help contribute to making America great again. So God bless him. An Amazon
00:04:41.820 cargo jet crashed to Miami International Airport on Sunday, killing five people, injuring several
00:04:46.420 more. The crash occurred after the jet overshot the runway. Video captured the harrowing aftermath.
00:04:53.120 Not much known after the crash, the pilot's identity.
00:04:57.240 None of that known yet, of course, as the investigation goes on.
00:05:01.880 But we do know five people killed, five people injured.
00:05:04.920 All five people who were killed were on the ground, not on the plane.
00:05:09.620 Folks, please be sure to join us each and every night for The Great America Show.
00:05:12.420 Rumble, YouTube, Twitter, wherever you guys join us for The Great America Show.
00:05:15.980 We will see you there.
00:05:17.080 I'm Jon Fossett with this Great America Show midday update.
00:05:19.680 Have a great Tuesday, everybody.
