00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm John Fossil with this Great America Show midday update for Monday, May 12th.
00:00:04.600 Happy Monday, folks. President Trump is wheels up to Saudi Arabia, starting his trip in Saudi Arabia.
00:00:10.640 Also, we'll be visiting with Qatar and the UAE, looking to maybe make some business deals, get some investments here in America.
00:00:17.980 The first stop on the agenda will be Saudi Arabia.
00:00:21.520 President Trump meeting with Mohammed bin Salman, crown prince, pledging $600 billion in investments in the United States over the next four years.
00:00:28.880 That was after President Trump first took office.
00:00:32.180 President Trump saying, quote, last time they put up $450 billion, but this time they've gotten a little bit richer.
00:00:38.080 We've gotten a little older.
00:00:39.720 So he said, if I'm going, you're going to pay a trillion dollars to American companies over four years.
00:00:43.740 And they've agreed.
00:00:45.020 The deal signed in Saudi Arabia will include at least $100 billion in military sales, as well as big energy and mineral deals.
00:00:51.740 The Qataris are also expected to announce $200 to $300 billion in deals and investments.
00:00:55.740 This includes a huge commercial aircraft deal with Boeing and a $2 billion deal to purchase MQ-9 Reaper drones.
00:01:02.920 This according to Axios.
00:01:04.980 The Qataris are also considering gifting President Trump a 747 to serve temporarily as Air Force One.
00:01:12.040 Qatar's Ministry of Defense and the Pentagon are discussing the issue.
00:01:15.020 While the Marxist Dems and the mainstream media absolutely go berserk,
00:01:18.720 they can't figure out why Qatar would gift us a $400 million plane.
00:01:23.640 President Trump in the Oval Office earlier today before departing on that trip says,
00:01:27.600 we give everybody everything for free.
00:01:30.580 And maybe it's time America starts to get some things in return for free.
00:01:34.740 Take a listen to President Trump earlier today.
00:01:37.560 Mr. President, what do you say to people who view that luxury jet as a personal gift to you?
00:01:42.300 Why not leave it behind?
00:01:43.160 You're ABC fake news, right?
00:01:44.900 Why not?
00:01:45.180 Because only ABC, well, a few of you would.
00:01:48.320 Let me tell you, you should be embarrassed asking that question.
00:01:52.840 They're giving us a free jet.
00:01:54.820 I could say, no, no, no, don't give us, I want to pay you a billion or $400 million or whatever it is.
00:02:01.200 Or I could say, thank you very much.
00:02:03.880 You know, there was an old golfer named Sam Snead.
00:02:06.940 Did you ever hear of him?
00:02:07.740 He won 82 tournaments.
00:02:09.000 He was a great golfer.
00:02:09.940 And he had a motto, when they give you a putt, you say, thank you very much.
00:02:14.980 You pick up your ball and you walk to the next hole. 1.00
00:02:17.200 A lot of people are stupid. 1.00
00:02:18.700 They say, no, no, I insist on putting it. 1.00
00:02:20.840 Then they putt it and they miss it.
00:02:23.400 And their partner gets angry at them.
00:02:25.240 You know what?
00:02:26.200 Remember that, Sam Snead.
00:02:28.220 When they give you a putt, you pick it up and you walk to the next hole and you say, thank you very much.
00:02:33.060 Respectfully, sir, as a businessman, somebody came in and looked at us and said,
00:02:36.760 Have you ever been given a gift worth millions of dollars and did not receive anything?
00:02:41.060 It's not a gift to me.
00:02:41.840 It's a gift to the Department of Defense.
00:02:44.620 And you should know better because you've been embarrassed enough and so has your network.
00:02:48.540 Your network is a disaster. 0.58
00:02:49.820 ABC is a disaster. 0.92
00:02:51.460 Fake news is exactly what they are.
00:02:53.740 It doesn't make sense why the media is so against President Trump and why the media is so against this country as a whole. 0.99
00:03:01.320 Sick, sick people.
00:03:02.560 President Trump getting a lot of stuff done before heading off on that trip to the UAE.
00:03:08.300 Earlier this morning, President Trump signed executive orders to reduce drug prices in America to rates similar to those that other nations pay.
00:03:16.360 President Trump signing that executive order in the Roosevelt Room.
00:03:18.960 He was with HHS Secretary RFK Jr., Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services Administrator Dr. Oz, NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattachara, and FDA Commissioner Marty McCary.
00:03:31.500 RFK Jr. gave a few words to the press and really called out the Democrats and what they've been lying and promising for many, many years that President Trump seemingly has been able to do in just over 100 days.
00:03:45.200 This is an extraordinary day.
00:03:51.220 This is an issue that, you know, I grew up in the Democratic Party and every major Democratic leader for 20 years has been making this promise to the American people.
00:04:00.560 This was the fulcrum of Bernie Sanders' runs for presidency, that he was going to eliminate this discrepancy between Europe and the United States.
00:04:10.100 But as it turns out, none of them were doing it.
00:04:14.240 It's one of these promises that politicians make to their constituents, knowing that they'll never have to do it.
00:04:20.740 And the reason they'll never have to do it is because they know that Congress is controlled in so many ways by the pharmaceutical industry.
00:04:29.000 There's at least one pharmaceutical lobbyist for every congressman, every senator on Capitol Hill, and every member of the Supreme Court.
00:04:37.460 I sum estimates three.
00:04:39.920 Pharmaceutical companies, the industry itself, spends three times what the next largest lobbyist spends on lobbying.
00:04:48.880 So this was an issue that people talked about, but nobody wanted to do anything because it was radioactive.
00:04:58.140 They knew you couldn't get it by Congress.
00:04:59.880 We now have a president who is a man of his word, who has the courage.
00:05:06.920 President Trump was taking money from the pharmaceutical industry, too.
00:05:10.260 I think they gave you $100 million.
00:05:11.560 But he can't be bought, unlike most of the politicians in this country.
00:05:17.920 And he is standing here for the American people.
00:05:21.600 I don't know what, you know, there's writers like Elizabeth Warren or Robert Reich who are saying that President Trump is on this side of the oligarchs.
00:05:31.920 There has never been a president more willing to stand up to the oligarchs than President Donald Trump.
00:05:39.460 And I'm very, very proud of you, Mr. President, for your courage.
00:05:44.760 I'll say, because I don't want to be crude, your intestinal fortitude, your stiff spine, and your willingness to stand up to the American people.
00:05:56.960 RFK Jr. doing a terrific job.
00:05:59.020 And there's a reason why he's so liked by Republicans.
00:06:01.640 And he used to be liked by Democrats until he decided to come to the winning team.
00:06:06.260 Great man and says it exactly how it is.
00:06:08.520 Now, over the weekend, in the prior administration, you would have seen Joe Biden on the beach somewhere eating an ice cream cone on a cheap lawn chair, sleeping.
00:06:17.280 But over this weekend, while President Trump was working, so was Scott Besant, Treasury Secretary.
00:06:22.540 The White House announced it over the weekend, a historic trade deal with China.
00:06:26.220 Tariffs are being reduced.
00:06:28.060 That's right, folks.
00:06:28.880 President Trump and his team secured on Sunday, cutting both countries' tariffs on imported goods from 115% for at least 90 days.
00:06:37.080 U.S. Trade Rep. Jameson Greer and Treasury Secretary Scott Besant held those discussions in Geneva, Switzerland with the Chinese representatives.
00:06:44.780 These talks aimed at addressing the escalating trade war, which has seen the U.S. imposed trade tariffs as high as 145% on Chinese goods,
00:06:53.500 with China retaliating on 125% tariff on American goods.
00:06:57.920 Along with promising to address the fentanyl issue and the fentanyl crisis that China seemingly sent over to America, 0.90
00:07:04.600 China will also be buying more American goods now, opening up for Americans to make money,
00:07:10.040 whereas on the other side, China's been making money on the backs of Americans for many years.
00:07:14.300 Folks, please be sure to join us today for The Great America Show and each and every day for The Great America Show and The Great America Show midday updates.
00:07:20.240 I'm John Fossett with this midday update.
00:07:22.560 We'll see you at 6 p.m. Eastern time for The Great America Show.
