00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm Lou Dobbs. This is The Great America Show, and it's great to have
00:00:07.640 you with us. The House investigating committees are getting it done, bringing truth to the
00:00:13.060 American public about political corruption rampant in the Biden regime. The whistleblower
00:00:19.220 working on the Hunter Biden probe this week spoke out for the first time since his six
00:00:24.600 hour-long testimony was released by the House Ways and Means Committee. Gary Shapley is a 14-year
00:00:31.280 veteran of the Internal Revenue Service, and he talked with CBS News this week about how federal
00:00:36.780 agencies intervened in his investigation and what he discovered in his investigation of Hunter Biden.
00:00:44.380 There were personal expenses that were taken as business expenses. Prostitutes, sex club memberships,
00:00:52.460 hotel rooms for purported drug dealers. How much did Hunter Biden owe in taxes?
00:00:58.200 So from 2014 to 2019, it was $2.2 million. There were certain investigative steps that we weren't
00:01:04.140 allowed to take that could have led us to President Biden. And you wanted to take him.
00:01:10.400 We needed to take them. And you weren't allowed to take them.
00:01:13.060 That's correct. If this was any other person, they likely would have already served their sentence.
00:01:17.440 Shapley's remarks are in direct contradiction of Attorney General Merrick Garland and what Garland
00:01:24.720 told us last week about the U.S. Attorney for Delaware, David Weiss.
00:01:29.900 As I said at the outset, Mr. Weiss, who was appointed by President Trump as the U.S. Attorney in Delaware
00:01:37.160 and assigned this matter during the previous administration, would be permitted to continue
00:01:42.060 his investigation and to make a decision to prosecute any way in which he wanted to and in any
00:01:49.120 district in which he wanted to. Mr. Weiss has since sent a letter to the House Judiciary Committee
00:01:54.660 confirming that he had that authority. I don't know how it would be possible for anybody to block him
00:02:00.460 from bringing a prosecution, given that he has this authority. And he was never told no.
00:02:06.280 I'd say he was given complete authority to make all decisions on his own.
00:02:10.100 So who is lying? There's no doubt in my mind. How many more whistleblowers does it take to
00:02:16.220 recognize the truth about this corrupt administration? The New York Times reporting this week that they've
00:02:22.740 done an independent investigation. And are you ready for this? The New York Times confirms that the DOJ
00:02:29.840 did intervene and block more severe charges against Hunter Biden. Charges that the U.S. Attorney says
00:02:37.320 were blocked by A.G. Merrick Garland's Department of Justice. New York Times writers Glenn Thrush and
00:02:44.700 Michael Schmidt wrote this, quote,
00:02:47.840 If Mr. Weiss wanted to move ahead without the DOJ's approval, he could have brought the issue to
00:02:53.800 Mr. Garland's attention and the Attorney General could then appoint him special attorney, which would
00:02:59.620 allow him to bypass the standard chain of command. Well, whatever the truth is, instead of Weiss pursuing
00:03:07.560 those possible felony charges, Hunter was granted the sweetheart deal in which he will admit to a
00:03:13.120 firearm charge and plead guilty to unpaid taxes, facing no jail time whatsoever. But a federal judge
00:03:20.340 will still have to approve the deal. That outrageous sweetheart deal. We'll see what happens.
00:03:27.360 House Speaker Rhino Kevin McCarthy has already served up his own sweetheart deal to Joe Biden
00:03:33.420 when he caved on the debt ceiling negotiations. Now McCarthy has attacked President Trump,
00:03:39.700 the man that's responsible for McCarthy even being Speaker of the House in the first place.
00:03:45.420 McCarthy on CNBC declaring that, quote, he's not sure if Trump is the strongest Republican in the race
00:03:52.940 to beat Joe Biden in 2024. How's that for gratitude? The intellectually deprived Rhino can't read polls
00:04:01.340 either. The latest polling shows Trump the most powerful candidate by a far margin. For that,
00:04:07.900 we turn to our friends at RealClearPolitics. The latest GOP primary polling, according to RealClearPolitics,
00:04:15.020 has Trump at 52 percent. That's 30 points higher than second place Ron DeSantis. The general election polling,
00:04:24.500 according to RealClearPolitics, has President Trump beating Joe Biden head-to-head, DeSantis losing to Biden head-to-head.
00:04:32.420 So just what metric would Rhino McCarthy be using when he made his moronic and ill-considered comments?
00:04:38.160 Well, I can tell you, my personal belief is he was listening to his good buddy, Paul Ryan.
00:04:44.960 Turning now to our guest today, he's Congressman Matt Rosendale of the great state of Montana.
00:04:49.860 He sits on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, the House Committee on Natural Resources.
00:04:54.780 He's a member of the House Freedom Caucus and a great American who happens to have opposed Kevin
00:05:00.060 McCarthy to be Speaker of the House. Congressman, great to have you with us. A lot going on right now
00:05:06.060 in your state of Montana. You've got more Chinese-like balloons invading U.S. and your state's airspace.
00:05:13.140 You've got a train wreck and hazardous materials spilling into the Yellowstone River.
00:05:17.780 And you have the IRS raiding one of your gun shops. What more could be going on right now in the state
00:05:24.140 of Montana, Congressman? The only thing we're missing are the locusts, Lou, I will tell you.
00:05:29.280 It has not been great. Meanwhile, we are resilient people, and I will tell you that the moisture has
00:05:37.300 been good. The crops are looking good, which makes the cows look good. So we're going to be okay with
00:05:43.980 this, but we will not surrender. As Winston Churchill so profoundly stated amongst the war of World War II,
00:05:55.860 when his people were huddled in the subways and trying to figure out what they were going to do
00:06:00.740 as Germany continued to bomb them. And he said, you know, we're going to fight this. We're going to fight
00:06:06.220 in the streets and the beaches and the seas and the skies, and we will not surrender. And by golly,
00:06:14.240 that's how Montanans are.
00:06:16.440 Great. I wouldn't expect any less of Montanans at all, and certainly no less of you.
00:06:21.720 Let's start with that train wreck, if we may. Hazardous materials. Pete Buttigieg, the
00:06:29.700 purported Secretary of Transportation, doing absolutely nothing. Are you getting the help
00:06:37.680 you need to deal with that spill?
00:06:42.040 We are. Fortunately, we have a very, very active emergency services, first responders here in Montana,
00:06:50.640 Montana, and the rail system itself, that was the Montana Rail Link. They immediately had their
00:06:57.620 people out there on the scene. So let me give you the real version of what happened. It was 6 a.m.
00:07:02.480 on Saturday morning. There was a train wreck, okay? And what is not known is whether the bridge
00:07:10.720 collapsed going over the Yellowstone River, which caused the derailment, or whether the derailment and
00:07:18.540 the accident, ensuing accident, caused the bridge to collapse. So put that aside for a moment. We had
00:07:25.720 like 10 cars that ended up down in the drink. No injuries, no fatalities. So the loss of life or
00:07:35.260 injuries, none was sustained. So everybody is just really happy about that. The train cars that went
00:07:41.460 into the river contained sulfur and asphalt. Both of those materials, when they come into contact with
00:07:48.980 the cool water of the Yellowstone River, solidify, keeping the environmental impact down to a minimal.
00:07:56.900 They had closed down the water systems for the municipalities downstream from there, and cautioned to
00:08:04.420 make sure that they didn't take in any contaminants. They've been monitoring the river continuously to
00:08:11.300 make sure what the water quality is like, and it's okay. The intakes have been opened back up again,
00:08:19.540 and the DEQ, Montana Department of Environmental Quality, the EPA, and private contractors are on site,
00:08:27.620 monitoring all that. They also were monitoring air quality because there was some cars that had a
00:08:36.900 sodium hydrosulfide, but they did not go into the river. They were able to get them away from the accident
00:08:44.180 zone and get those materials protected, so none of that was dispersed into the air. So the air quality,
00:08:49.940 water quality seems to be coming in good. There's been cranes put out on the site, two very large cranes,
00:08:57.060 to start taking the debris out of the river of the train cars that are still there. There's specialized
00:09:03.220 diving teams that have been dispersed to the site to make sure that they can help with cutting metal
00:09:08.980 and getting things out of the way to assist in removing the damaged train cars from the river. As that takes
00:09:17.540 place, the Federal Railroad Administration and the NTSB are both on site and will stay on site until they
00:09:28.580 have determined what caused the accident. So right now, the issues we're dealing with are number one,
00:09:35.860 fiber optic. There was a fiber optic line hanging on the bridge at the time of the accident. That was severed.
00:09:42.980 They have been able to erect a temporary line across the river to restore that fiber optic because it was
00:09:50.740 basically delivering 911 service to three counties on the other side. So that's up and running again,
00:09:57.620 and they'll do a more permanent operation a little bit later. The other thing was to reroute the freight. I mean,
00:10:06.500 we've got a lot of freight that just got tied up because this is the line heading west. So what it
00:10:11.380 will do now is go from Billings, which is the town closest to the east. It's going to go from Billings
00:10:19.380 to the north to Great Falls. From Great Falls, it will go to Shelby, Montana. And then from there,
00:10:26.020 it can go to points west. Any of the products that are over in Gallatin County, which is the next main
00:10:34.020 depot, if you will, to the west, those products can obviously go to the west. But any of that that
00:10:40.980 has to be transported to the east, we now have a major problem. You're going to have to either use
00:10:46.100 trucking. If it cannot be trucked, then those products are going to have to be delivered to the west
00:10:51.140 all the way to Spokane, Washington, at which time they will be distributed to points to the north
00:10:56.820 and south, and then rerouted back around to the west. So everything considered, we have things
00:11:04.020 contained on the site. I expect to be out there. I wanted to make sure the site was safe and stable
00:11:10.100 before I inserted myself because you just don't want to be causing problems when they have all of that
00:11:17.780 first response taking place. I will be out there in the next, I think, Thursday is when I'm scheduled
00:11:23.780 to go. And everything considered, we've got potable water going into the municipalities and redirected
00:11:32.900 freight and construction of our clearing of the rest of the debris out of the river. So we're in
00:11:41.300 pretty good spot. Congressman, the great news is no one injured, no one. Well, there could have been
00:11:50.500 easily loss of life there. And there could have been incredible threats to the to the drinking water
00:11:56.580 and to the residents there. So I'm glad to hear your report on that. It's let's turn to another issue.
00:12:04.340 And that is the IRS with a significant size force raiding a gun shop in Great Falls.
00:12:14.020 What is the status of that? What is going on? That is is deeply disturbing. I received information
00:12:22.420 that 20 IRS agents fully armed and equipped with like whatever they they riot type gear with the vesting
00:12:31.460 and everything like that showed up at a gun store in Great Falls about a week ago, just about more than
00:12:39.620 a week ago. And one ATF agent was with them. And when the owner of the store showed up at 7 a.m.,
00:12:46.020 they demanded entrance. They had a search warrant and they went in. He said that they were professional,
00:12:53.620 but that the ATF agent was actually doing a little bit of the directing and the IRS agents confiscated
00:13:02.020 some financial records, but not so many financial records. What's really troubling, Lou, is they took
00:13:07.540 cases upon cases, all of what they call the 4473 forms that this gun store owner had on premises. And the
00:13:16.740 4473 forms are the ones that you fill out when you're purchasing a firearm to declare that you
00:13:24.260 have not have been found guilty of any violent crimes. You're not a felon. I mean, it's all personal
00:13:31.220 information and just the fact that you wanted to purchase a firearm, but make it clear there's no
00:13:37.460 information on there about the firearm you're trying to purchase, nor the cost or value of that firearm.
00:13:43.940 So there's no financial information on there whatsoever. And the statute says that the only
00:13:51.460 people that are supposed to have access and possession to that are the gun store and or the ATF. And the
00:13:59.620 ATF told the IRS agents that when they tried taking those forms, but they still said, basically, tough. And
00:14:07.940 they took the forms. The IRS agent said tough? No, that's my words. But I'm saying that was
00:14:16.340 effectively their stance. They said, we are taking this. This is what we are doing. And they ignored
00:14:22.100 the ATF agent telling them that they were not supposed to. And now they have access, they have
00:14:27.220 possession of 13,000 4473 forms on Montanans. And Lou, if the IRS is not helping the federal government
00:14:38.180 build a database on who actually owns firearms, I don't know what else they're doing with this
00:14:43.780 information. I mean, there's a lot of conspiracy theories, but there's also a lot of conspiracies.
00:14:49.620 But absolutely. And well said, I have to say, I'm encouraged that an ATF agent tried to intercede
00:14:57.380 with the IRS on behalf of the shop owner. We've seen just exactly the opposite of that conduct.
00:15:04.420 As you well know, in Georgia, Congressman Loudermilk had to
00:15:10.020 step up to get between the ATF agents and a gun store owner there in southern Georgia.
00:15:20.180 Yeah, this is really problematic. I've been in touch with why first I sent off letter to
00:15:26.980 the IRS and to the ATF and stating not only my displeasure, but demanding to have the
00:15:34.260 4473 forms returned back to this store owner. And I've been working with my state attorney general
00:15:42.100 to see if he can help me to intervene. And then what I can do at the legislative level,
00:15:47.460 level at the congressional is to attack on a two prong approach. Number one, Lou, I think we need to
00:15:55.620 take the weapons away from the IRS. I don't know why the IRS needs to be carrying around ARs.
00:16:02.820 I just, so I'm going to, I'm going to pursue that. Wait a minute, Congressman,
00:16:07.140 are you telling me they went in there with AR, with M16s? I don't know if they were M16s,
00:16:13.140 they were ARs. So they could have been a different, a different caliber. They got, yeah. But,
00:16:19.220 but they were of the 20. In the parlance of the left, that those would be assault weapons.
00:16:24.900 Yeah. But the 20 IRS agents were fully armed with ARs. Unbelievable.
00:16:31.460 Yeah. And this is, this is, this is Soviet style tactics, Lou. This is intimidation, not only
00:16:38.660 of the store owner, but of any of the customers that showed up during the day while they maintained
00:16:46.180 that business. Basically, they maintained control of that business and had it shut down. So this was
00:16:53.620 to intimidate anyone who was thinking about coming in there too. Don't get in our way. We will crush you.
00:17:00.420 We're talking with Congressman Matt Rosendale. We're going to continue this
00:17:04.180 and find out what in the world is going on with the ATF, the Internal Revenue Service,
00:17:09.940 and this government that apparently has been overtaken by Marxist Dems. And the Biden regime
00:17:17.460 is going wild. We'll be right back. Stay with us.
00:17:27.700 We're back now. We're talking with Congressman Matt Rosendale and Congressman, we were talking about
00:17:33.220 the gun store owner. I have to say, listening to what has happened in a number of stores,
00:17:38.900 gun shops around the country. The disposition, there's been no follow-up. There's been no consequence.
00:17:47.780 Why, why should not the conference, the Republican conference deal with this issue
00:17:53.460 together and make it a national issue? Because this is outrageous abuse of power, in my opinion,
00:17:59.700 and I sense in your opinion as well, by the federal government. This has got to be stopped.
00:18:06.180 There can't be just little incidents. This is a chain of incidents and an obvious directive coming
00:18:13.540 from perhaps the White House itself. Look, I don't know where it's coming from, but I will tell you
00:18:20.900 that when they go into gun stores, law-abiding citizens, and you send in a team of armed IRS agents.
00:18:31.460 Again, this is Soviet-style intimidation tactics. It is absolutely unacceptable in our society, and I am
00:18:41.860 gravely concerned about the collection of this data that is taking place. That is why we need to go in
00:18:50.740 and, number one, disarm the IRS. That is just out of control. Number two, we need to go into the
00:19:01.780 statute and make it exceedingly clear that these 4473 forms, number one, are only to be viewed by the ATF,
00:19:11.780 and in lieu, number two, I think that we need to check. What happens is the Biden administration is
00:19:18.420 going around the law, and they're using rule. We've seen it time and time again because they
00:19:23.620 can't modify the law. They know they don't have the support to do that, so they pass a rule that
00:19:28.980 says that the gun owners need to maintain these records in perpetuity as long as they own the gun
00:19:35.300 store. Well, if you have that information that's available, sooner or later it can be compromised by
00:19:42.980 someone. There's no reason for that to be retained for such an extended period of time, and we need
00:19:50.420 to put into statute that that information needs to have a limited time. I don't know the magic number.
00:19:56.260 Is it 30 days? Is it 90 days? I don't know, but once it hits that deadline, that that information
00:20:05.940 must be purged, destroyed, so that we don't have situations like this arising where there's no other
00:20:12.180 reason for the justification of the IRS to collect all of this except to create a database.
00:20:20.340 Well, like I said, I think the Republican Party needs to take this on in the Congress of the United
00:20:26.260 States full investigation and get on it because this is just an outright violation of Second
00:20:32.900 Amendment rights on every level by the Internal Revenue Service, as it turns out, rather than the
00:20:38.900 IRS, excuse me, the ATF. ATF, exactly. I want to turn to the other one. Have they shot down that
00:20:46.900 balloon over Montana yet? Oh, my gosh. So let me give you a little bit of background. So when the
00:20:52.820 first Chinese spy balloon came across our nation several months ago, that was back in February,
00:20:59.300 the, thank goodness, the vigilant people across the state of Montana looked up to the sky,
00:21:05.780 which we do, and by the way, we can actually see what's going on up there. We're not crowded out
00:21:11.460 with pollution, nor buildings, and they saw that there was something going across the sky, and a very
00:21:19.460 alert reporter, photographer, excellent photographer down in Yellowstone County, Larry Mayer,
00:21:25.060 took some photographs of this thing, great images that showed the balloon and all of the cargo that
00:21:33.460 it was carrying for conducting surveillance, was released. DOD came out and basically threatened him
00:21:40.900 and was trying to suppress the information then. It went so viral, it went so viral that people across
00:21:47.860 the nation said, what in the world is going on? And the White House says we're not going to,
00:21:53.860 their first response was, we don't know what it is, or we don't know where it came from or where it's
00:21:59.140 going, and we're not going to investigate. That was their very first response. And it was a lie,
00:22:06.820 because they saw the balloon when it was approaching the Aleutian Islands, and they allowed it
00:22:12.260 cross over Alaska, Canada, and then as it hovered over Malmstrom Air Force Base in north central Montana,
00:22:21.620 which has control over 150 ICBMs, then they started paying a little bit more attention to it,
00:22:29.140 but they allowed it to continue to traverse across the continental United States until the public outrage
00:22:36.260 reached such a level that they shot it down over the Atlantic. And then we had several other balloons,
00:22:40.820 and as I was reaching out to Department of Defense back then, they were denying what was going on,
00:22:47.460 no one would give me any kind of accurate information whatsoever, and so I became very frustrated and
00:22:53.620 was assured, Lou, trust me, next time it's going to be different. So then on Monday evening, I started
00:23:03.300 getting reports at 9 p.m. from local residents here in Dawson County, Montana, that they were tracking yet
00:23:09.940 another balloon that that was hovering above my branch here in eastern Montana. I mean, they showed
00:23:16.100 me maps where they were tracking it, and it was hovering at about 57,000 feet, and I immediately
00:23:21.860 reached out to DOD and said, what's going on? Are you tracking this? And again, they denied it, and they
00:23:28.100 said that they don't have any information that would cause them to believe that there was surveillance
00:23:36.980 being conducted from this device because it was too small to carry any kind of a payload. Therefore,
00:23:44.580 they were not going to expend any resources to do any more research on it.
00:23:50.100 So now the DOD, after the experience with those other balloons earlier this year,
00:23:56.420 now they think they're real smart and can tell what's going on. I mean, is there any part of this
00:24:04.100 government that's making any sense? No, and they continued to be in the deny mode. And then after
00:24:10.100 I put something out on social media on Tuesday, then DOD comes out and acts like they did this full,
00:24:17.380 complete analysis of what was going on, and oh, this is just a weather balloon,
00:24:23.220 it has FAA ratings, and da-da-da-da-da. Meanwhile, they wouldn't share that with me
00:24:28.820 on the night before, or the morning of, or the morning of. And so they continued to do the same
00:24:35.300 thing, deceive and deny. And that is terrible government. Well, it's terrible government,
00:24:42.980 but it turns out it's our government, or it used to be. But now it's its own lock, stock,
00:24:49.060 and barrel, it appears to me, by the Marxist Dems. I don't know who's in charge of it.
00:24:55.540 Maybe it's still Obama. Maybe it's the intelligence agencies. Maybe it's the donors all combined.
00:25:02.980 You know, maybe they have a burning tree rendezvous every month and decide what this country is going
00:25:09.780 to do. But when they're denying information to a US congressman, that's pretty serious stuff.
00:25:16.180 I mean, at what point will McCarthy say that it's time to impeach some people? Maybe throw in,
00:25:24.580 by the way, Mayorkas. Throw in Lloyd Austin. And, you know, Merrick Garland, I don't know,
00:25:37.060 I think he might be the top of the list. What do you think?
00:25:39.380 Hey, look, it took us quite a bit of work to simply censure Adam Schiff, who basically
00:25:47.860 lied to the American people time and time again and started a propaganda war against President Trump.
00:25:57.060 And it was all we could do is muster up the votes to censure him. So...
00:26:02.660 Put that win by six votes?
00:26:04.820 Yeah, like six votes.
00:26:06.580 Yeah, it's amazing.
00:26:08.020 And so we've got, look, the uniparty is real, Lou. The uniparty is real. And unfortunately,
00:26:16.500 this is what we're up against. There are a few people, not nearly enough in Washington,
00:26:22.900 that are willing to take the difficult votes, to make the difficult statements, to actually say,
00:26:29.540 what is the truth? The emperor is not wearing any clothes. And then to take the beatings from the
00:26:37.300 national media that we end up doing just to try and keep people informed. But the people,
00:26:43.060 they know in their bones that something is wrong. The people know that government has gotten too big.
00:26:49.380 They know when they go to the school board meeting and there are those that are whispering because
00:26:55.860 they're afraid to be public about their proclamations for fear that the FBI may be knocking on their door.
00:27:02.740 That is no way for us to live in the United States of America.
00:27:07.220 Well, it isn't. And by the way, we're living that way because of the Marxist
00:27:12.340 Dems who run the Democrat Party. Let's be very straightforward. The Democrat Party has declared
00:27:19.380 war on the American people. And we're going to take that up as we continue with Congressman
00:27:24.820 Matt Rosendale here on The Great America Show. Stay with us.
00:27:28.500 We're back. We're talking with Congressman Matt Rosendale. And my goodness, have we got a list
00:27:40.500 of issues to talk about here? These issues all affect the country, whether it's a Second Amendment,
00:27:46.420 whether it's a national defense, national sovereignty. By the way, we were talking about the what looks to
00:27:52.980 be another Chinese balloon. We haven't heard the disposition of that yet. We don't know whether
00:27:58.340 it's been shut down or just simply they wave at it as it goes over top secret facilities like they did
00:28:05.300 with the first one that came across at which Joe Biden allowed to traverse the entire United States.
00:28:12.820 What what is your thinking about the fact we haven't heard a word out of this administration
00:28:17.220 about what they're going to do about China's desire to build a military base in Cuba?
00:28:23.060 Oh, I think that the people across this country recognize that Joe Biden has been
00:28:30.980 very compromised by the Chinese Communist Party. I mean, that is on full display now. And that gives me
00:28:41.140 really, really grave concern because we're not just talking about militarily. I always tell folks, look,
00:28:48.020 China wants to be the the global power. They want dominance globally. And the way that you achieve that is first
00:28:58.980 economically, which gives you the ability to expand your your reach militarily. And they have been very effective at
00:29:08.980 doing both. And unfortunately, Lou, we have assisted them by by devaluing the dollar by the increase in
00:29:18.100 inflation because of the additional out of control spending by the Marxist Democrats, as you rightfully
00:29:26.660 call them. In 2019, pre-COVID, we collected the collections for revenue for the federal government were at about
00:29:36.980 $4 trillion, okay? The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, an incredible piece of legislation that the Democrats
00:29:45.460 demonized it, said it was causing the national deficit to increase. They were 100% wrong. We collected more
00:29:56.580 revenue. We will collect this year after tax cuts and jobs, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, we will collect
00:30:05.380 somewhere near $5 trillion worth of revenue this year. The problem is that the Biden administration
00:30:11.620 continues to propose about $6.5, $6.8 trillion worth of spending. And so with a $32 trillion national debt,
00:30:22.420 with the, unfortunately, the McCarthy-Biden agreed upon debt ceiling having a date of January of 25,
00:30:31.540 instead of a number with virtually no curbs of spending whatsoever, we know we're going to be looking at
00:30:38.340 somewhere between $36 and $37 trillion of national debt as of January of 25. We are continuing to undermine the
00:30:49.060 value of the dollar and weaken our own country, which helps China.
00:30:53.860 Well, I think I can sum up what has happened under McCarthy as Speaker and to the 118th Congress.
00:31:03.540 Speaker McCarthy and the 118th Congress will not have a word to say about two full years of federal
00:31:11.380 budgets. You might as well not exist as far as fiscal policy is concerned because of what the leadership
00:31:18.740 in the Senate and the leadership in the Speaker's office have done to the American people.
00:31:26.580 100%. 100%.
00:31:28.260 Look, I spent a lot of time and effort working on the first debt ceiling package that we were crafting
00:31:34.100 at the beginning of this year, because we knew the debt ceiling was going to be the big argument.
00:31:38.340 We also recognized, several of us did, that that was going to be the leverage point that we could use
00:31:43.940 to make sure that we could get policies, good policies implemented, because with only one of
00:31:50.020 the chambers, you know, the House of Senate and then the executive branch only having one of that,
00:31:55.700 one of the legs of the stool, we knew that our leverage was going to be quite limited. But we put
00:32:01.060 together a really strong package that froze spending, that clawed back a bunch of out of control
00:32:07.620 spending the Biden administration had proposed. It did increase the debt ceiling, but it was until
00:32:12.820 March of next year, which would have given us the ability to have a little bit more leverage over
00:32:19.940 the appropriations process. And then it also contained all of the provisions of HR1, which was our domestic
00:32:28.900 energy policy and our domestic critical minerals policy. And all of that went out the window when McCarthy and
00:32:37.620 Biden struck their deal to increase the debt ceiling. Not only did it take it away for the
00:32:43.700 next six, eight months, but as you've rightfully stated, Lou, it took it away until January of 25.
00:32:50.660 And so now how are we going to get policy that is necessary to help this country to secure our border,
00:32:58.260 to produce domestic energy without having the ability to tie a monetary consideration to it?
00:33:06.420 Well, we can't. It took us out at the knees.
00:33:09.940 Yep. And it took you out at the knees because of Speaker McCarthy's judgment. You know, when I look
00:33:16.900 at what's happening in that swamp right now, Congressman, I've got to believe there are a number of people are
00:33:21.940 being blackmailed by somebody somewhere because they're acting a lot different than they said.
00:33:28.100 McCarthy, by the way, is one of them. Somebody's got to have something on him because he's turned
00:33:32.660 it upside down. Somebody's got to have it something on several of the Supreme Court justices. We just
00:33:42.260 we just watched the Supreme Court decide that the Constitution is irrelevant to their decisions about
00:33:50.020 electioneering. They're not going to pay attention to Article one of the Constitution that requires
00:33:55.380 that the state legislature decide the place, time and manner of elections. They decided to interpret
00:34:02.020 that. And oh, by the way, all of those, not all, but nearly all of those so-called originalists and
00:34:08.100 conservatives went with the liberals on the Supreme Court. I mean, we are up against it, Congressman.
00:34:14.100 We are. We are. And I will tell you, I don't know that that anyone is holding
00:34:19.460 any information about any elected officials whatsoever, but I will tell you this.
00:34:24.580 It's in my experience that once you make serving in Congress your job, excuse me, your career,
00:34:36.660 once it becomes your career, it becomes your, you know, your sole income, it becomes a problem.
00:34:44.340 People's votes get tainted. I truly am at public service now. I was blessed. I had a career,
00:34:54.740 a successful career before I entered into politics. And so the work that I do now is as a public servant
00:35:02.500 to try and make sure that we can preserve this republic. And we have so many individuals that, quite frankly,
00:35:09.220 started at a young age, grooming themselves to become professional politicians. And so we often hear
00:35:16.420 this is this vote is going to end your career in politics. And once you have made it your career,
00:35:24.340 then your votes are already tainted. Well, I think that's a great, straightforward assessment of
00:35:31.700 the situation. I want to say to you how much I've enjoyed talking with you. I know the audience has
00:35:37.540 been delighted to listen to you and your perspective on what is happening both in your state and the
00:35:44.500 country. And there seems to be considerable overlap. We always give our guests the last word here,
00:35:50.740 Congressman, as you know. I want to thank you again. And your concluding thoughts, if you will, sir.
00:35:57.300 There are so few of us in Washington that are fighting for this country, Lou, that I can't tell
00:36:03.940 you how much I appreciate you inviting me on to help us get our voice out, because we are limited
00:36:09.780 on the venues that will include us, that will allow us to freely speak, not to just cut us down to a 10
00:36:19.620 second sound bite. And this is critically important that we have outlets like you. And so what I will
00:36:25.780 ask your listeners is that identify who the folks are that are truly fighting for you, the Americans.
00:36:34.500 As President Trump so fondly says, the forgotten man and woman across this country that are out there
00:36:42.900 trying to raise their family, get a good education for their children, and keep food on the table,
00:36:48.580 we are out there fighting for you. We are you. And so when you find out who those folks are,
00:36:56.660 help them. Go out and help them. And if that means just putting out a sign in your yard to support
00:37:04.100 them, do so. If that means making a few phone calls to your friends to make sure that they know
00:37:09.780 who's actually fighting for you, make a few phone calls and certainly get your friends and neighbors
00:37:15.780 to vote. And if you have the ability to make any kind of financial support, I assure you,
00:37:23.460 we need that as well, because there are well-organized machines, not only in the Democrat Party,
00:37:30.420 but in the Republican Party that are spending millions and billions to try to keep voices
00:37:37.140 like mine and my conservative colleagues silent because they are all part of the
00:37:43.940 Uniparty that are there to enrich themselves and not to preserve this republic. Congressman Matt
00:37:50.420 Rosendale, great to have you with us. Thanks for all you're doing for the great people of Montana
00:37:55.460 and this country. God bless you. Thank you. Thanks, everybody, for being with us today.
