00:00:00.000 I'm Lou Dobbs with this Great America Show Midday Update. The Supreme Court today handing
00:00:05.000 two rulings down that signal the beginning of the end for the vast overreach of the Marxist-Dem
00:00:11.440 Biden regime. The court today struck down Joe Biden's $430 billion student loan forgiveness
00:00:18.760 plan. Before last year's midterm elections, the Biden White House had been buying votes,
00:00:25.020 promising young voters they wouldn't have to pay off their student loan debt,
00:00:28.540 a promise Biden knew was good politics, and it paid off at the polls. But in a 6-3 opinion written
00:00:36.080 by Chief Justice John Roberts, the high court reminded Biden that he's president of the United
00:00:41.840 States, not the dear leader for life dictator he seems to often think he is. The high court ruling
00:00:49.220 any president would be required to win congressional approval legislatively to put such a burden on
00:00:55.660 taxpayers. In another 6-3 opinion today, written by Justice Neil Gorsuch, the Supreme Court handed
00:01:02.920 down a ruling that is a clear, strong victory for free speech. This case came about when a Colorado
00:01:09.340 web designer launched a business to create and sell wedding websites and work with same-sex couples,
00:01:16.540 but would not, she said, create messages that conflicted with her religious beliefs.
00:01:21.900 This not the only win for religious liberty on the Supreme Court this week. Yesterday,
00:01:28.260 the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that employers must be accommodating of employees' religious
00:01:34.820 observance. The case arose from a former Postal Service mailman who did not want to work on Sundays
00:01:41.360 in order to observe the Sabbath. This ruling will set a new standard for employers who will now have
00:01:48.080 to accommodate work schedules for observant employees. The commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity
00:01:54.460 Commission says these latest Supreme Court rulings pressure woke corporations to end ESG and DEI programs
00:02:03.880 for their employees. I think this is going to be a wake-up call for employers. Today is a time,
00:02:10.300 the best time for employers to take a really hard look at the lawfulness of their corporate diversity
00:02:14.200 programs. Even though many employers don't use the word affirmative action, it's rampant today from ESG
00:02:20.960 to focuses on equity. Pretty much everywhere, there's a ton of pressure at the Corporate 100
00:02:26.360 across corporate America to take race-conscious decision-making, race-conscious actions in
00:02:33.380 employment law. And that's been illegal and it's still illegal.
00:02:37.380 And Brazil goes totalitarian, the newly re-elected president Lula da Silva's left-wing government
00:02:44.460 and Brazil's electoral court barring former president Jair Bolsonaro from running for office.
00:02:51.800 Brazil's electoral court has banned him from running for office again until at least 2030.
00:02:57.960 This has a familiar ring, doesn't it? He was barred because Bolsonaro declared the election last year
00:03:04.100 was rigged and stolen from him. Brazil's new government, not much on free speech,
00:03:09.300 but when they interfere with an election, they get the job done, don't they?
