00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm Lou Dobbs, and this is The Great America Show. Great to have you
00:00:08.380 with us on these, well, July 4th Independence Day holidays. The Supreme Court, in its final
00:00:16.020 week of the spring term, abolishing affirmative action, giving strong support to the freedom
00:00:21.740 of speech, giving primacy to the right of religious freedom over work schedules, and
00:00:27.880 all in all reaffirming the nation's founding values that the Biden regime has been trampling
00:00:34.020 for the past two and a half years. It's been a tough two weeks for President Biden. The
00:00:40.260 Supreme Court last week issued a series of blows to the Biden regime's radical agenda, including
00:00:46.560 a reminder to Mr. Biden that his powers as president are limited by the Constitution, and his half
00:00:54.160 trillion-dollar walking-around money program was ruled unconstitutional, the court ordering
00:01:00.980 in effect a restoration of respect for the American taxpayer and the law as they defeated his student
00:01:09.160 loan forgiveness plan. In a 6-3 ruling last week, SCOTUS said the Biden student loan forgiveness
00:01:16.440 plan is a no-go without congressional approval, period. President Biden spoke at the White House
00:01:23.620 Friday and addressed the high court's ruling, and he takes no blame for his totalitarian overreach.
00:01:30.760 This program was all set to begin. The website had been set up, the applications had been simplified,
00:01:37.000 so that it took less than five minutes to complete. Notice had been sent out to people about the relief
00:01:42.700 they were eligible for. 16 million people. 16 million people had already been approved. The money was
00:01:49.340 literally about to go out the door. And then Republican elected officials and special interests
00:01:54.620 stepped in. They said, no, no, literally snatching from the hands of millions of Americans thousands
00:02:00.540 of dollars in student debt relief that was about to change their lives. You know, these Republican
00:02:06.060 officials just couldn't bear the thought of providing relief for working-class, middle-class Americans.
00:02:11.800 Republican state officials sued my administration, attempting to block relief, including millions of their own
00:02:17.940 constituents. Republicans in Congress voted to overturn the plan. I think everyone, I don't think I had
00:02:22.560 any Republican votes for this plan. At the same time, think about this. We all supported the
00:02:28.560 Paycheck Protection Program. Remember PPP? You know, which was designed to help business owners who lost
00:02:34.880 money because of the pandemic? It was a worthy program. But let's be clear, some of the same elected
00:02:40.560 Republicans, members of Congress, who strongly opposed giving relief to students, got hundreds of thousands
00:02:47.300 of dollars themselves in relief, members of Congress, because of the businesses they were able to keep
00:02:53.320 open. Several members of Congress got over a million dollars. All those loans are forgiven. You know how much
00:03:01.100 that program cost? $760 billion. My program's too expensive. $360 billion more than I proposed in my
00:03:13.940 debt relief program. The PPP program Biden refers to was to keep Americans afloat during the plague of
00:03:21.160 the China virus and approved by Congress. Biden blames the Supreme Court and Republican members of
00:03:27.480 Congress for his overreach, his endless authoritarian fiats that no president, not even Barack Obama,
00:03:35.800 ever attempted in such numbers. The Supreme Court ruling surely gave Biden agita, as did the number of
00:03:43.040 whistleblowers coming forward from the Internal Revenue Service. They made apparent the corruption of the
00:03:48.680 Biden crime family and that of the Department of Justice. Whistleblower Gary Sharpley, 14 years an IRS
00:03:56.660 agent, says the Department of Justice intervened a number of times when his agency investigated the
00:04:04.000 connection between Hunter Biden's business dealings and Joe Biden. They were told they were not allowed to
00:04:11.140 look into any reference to the big guy. Congressman James Comer, who's been leading the investigation
00:04:17.720 into the Biden family corruption, says overseas payments to the Biden family could exceed $40 million.
00:04:26.900 Comer says the DOJ has engaged in a cover-up of public corruption at the highest level.
00:04:33.860 This is another example of the Department of Justice meddling to have a cover-up. This is a cover-up
00:04:39.880 of public corruption at the highest levels. And if you go back to when we brought the General
00:04:45.120 Council for the National Archives in for a transcribed interview in the House Oversight
00:04:49.580 Committee, they said the DOJ told them to stand down. We have FBI whistleblowers that Senator Grassley
00:04:55.460 and I have worked with that said they were told to stand down on this investigation of Biden bribery.
00:05:01.140 Now you have two very credible IRS whistleblowers who have said the same thing. They started finding
00:05:06.900 those shell companies that we've disclosed in the House Oversight Committee. And I think they were
00:05:11.880 on number five or number six out of 19. And they were told to stand down. So we have a situation here
00:05:18.700 where our federal government has been involved in a cover-up. It's generated by the Department of
00:05:25.640 Justice. And it continues with this Hunter Biden plea deal. I mean, this is a slap in the face of every
00:05:31.920 American who works hard and pays taxes and believes in our system of justice.
00:05:37.220 Joe Biden nonetheless seems to be getting a free pass to this point, while President Trump may soon
00:05:43.240 face another 45 charges that the Marxist thug Jack Smith is reportedly considering. We're in the eighth
00:05:50.640 year of Marxist-dim political persecution of President Trump. Jack Smith, Merrick Garland,
00:05:58.000 and Joe Biden will surely pay for these crimes against an innocent man. Joining us now is attorney
00:06:05.500 Kurt Olson. He's represented President Trump and currently represents Carrie Lake. Kurt, great of
00:06:11.840 you to take time to talk with us over these July 4th holidays. A lot of opinions out of the Supreme
00:06:18.280 Court last week. Of course, religious liberties reassured students will have to pay their debts
00:06:23.540 and affirmative action for college students is no longer. Let's start with the Supreme Court decision
00:06:29.400 ending affirmative action. Your reaction, Kurt, to this historic ruling?
00:06:34.100 Well, I do think that this is a watershed opinion, which is putting a nail in the coffin of quotas.
00:06:43.180 And it ruled that colleges who were using simple quotas based on race for admission policies were
00:06:50.740 flat-out unconstitutional. And this is a great day for America, because we're getting back to where
00:07:00.020 it's merit that counts, not the color of your skin. I mean, this goes back to the Dr. Martin Luther King,
00:07:06.980 in his I Have a Dream speech, when he said, you know, I dream of the day when somebody will judge me for
00:07:12.900 the content of my character, not the color of my skin. And it's, you know, odd to think that it took us
00:07:19.940 50 years to come back to that notion. It is. How will it be enforced? Do you have any idea?
00:07:27.540 Well, what it will do is that students who have been discriminated against based on the color of their skin
00:07:33.780 in the admissions process should be able to sue. I haven't had an opportunity yet to read the opinion in
00:07:41.540 detail. But there may also be issues with respect to federal funding. So many of these colleges receive
00:07:48.900 federal funding. And if they are using policies that are unconstitutional, those funds should be at
00:07:55.860 risk as well. It's time for meritocracy to return to this country. We have fallen prey to some of the
00:08:04.020 most noxious left wing values that we could possibly have permitted. We would never have
00:08:12.580 dreamed of permitting 50 years ago, some of them helpful and necessary. But most we're now in the
00:08:20.180 woke society, which is, to me, the ultimate extension of what was driving things like affirmative action
00:08:26.740 at the time. Your thoughts?
00:08:28.260 Well, I think when you look at, you mentioned woke society. And woke society, it's the difference
00:08:34.500 between what is just happening and what is being done to you. And so this idea of wokeness and white
00:08:42.900 supremacy, this is a recent phenomenon. And so what you're seeing is there is an effort to divide people
00:08:51.860 in America by race, by religion, by sexual preference. Everything is being done. And this is part
00:09:00.580 of a takedown of America. And it's done by the establishment, because when the people are divided
00:09:07.300 and focused on their differences. So when you have Biden come out and say that white supremacy is the
00:09:15.140 greatest threat to America? Since when? And these ideas that are being promoted to divide people,
00:09:28.180 that's the true danger to America. So getting back to the idea, as you said, to a meritocracy
00:09:35.140 and having the court put on a stamp of approval of the constitution, which is what this country was founded
00:09:42.980 on. This is a great event. And hopefully this will lead, this will be one more nail in the coffin of
00:09:50.420 wokeness, which has just been a travesty and being used by people who want to control people.
00:09:59.060 True words were never spoken, Curt. And we listened to the Department of Defense talking about how they're
00:10:06.180 going to operate. But they are now at least a year behind current events. We now have heard from
00:10:15.460 BlackRock, the institution that started all of the ESG, the environment, social, the equity, social
00:10:24.500 governance, ESG nonsense to go along with CRT, critical race theory, all of that Marxist blather.
00:10:32.180 They're going to have to roll back a lot of silly, silly talking points that they put in the mouths of
00:10:38.500 their CEOs and discussed at their board meetings. It's ignorance. It was known ignorance. And now the
00:10:45.380 left is starting to retreat. And just in time, I might add to support what you're saying.
00:10:51.460 Yeah, I hope that it's a retreat because it's a question of, are they just not going to talk about
00:10:57.620 it, but still do it in another form? Or are they actually going to stop promoting the policy of ESG?
00:11:06.420 And I think the jury is still out on that. But this shows the power of the market. Anheuser-Busch is a
00:11:16.100 perfect example of how people can vote with their wallet, so to speak, and reject this notion of
00:11:25.460 wokeness of an agenda that is being put on. And one thing that state legislatures can do, because many
00:11:33.060 pension plans invest in BlackRock. So BlackRock, I think, has about $14 trillion under assets.
00:11:42.500 And so states, particularly those that are conservative, that do not believe in the agenda
00:11:49.620 of the left and the woke culture, they should be taking a hard look as to whether or not
00:11:55.140 the state pension plans that they are at least have some measure of control, that they could cause a
00:12:02.180 divestment from BlackRock that has been promoting anti-American policies. And so I would call on state
00:12:09.300 legislators to start taking a more active role. And the same thing with universities, state-funded
00:12:14.660 universities. State legislatures can start taking a more active role to stop wokeness, whether it's in
00:12:22.580 the university or the boardroom. This is a fundamental threat to America. And with state legislators,
00:12:30.020 if they get the guts to start heading or taking this on, we can really get America back to its
00:12:39.380 founding principles.
00:12:40.260 We're talking with Attorney Kurt Olson. Stay with us. We're coming right back.
00:12:44.660 We're back, Kurt. I want to take up what the president said. President Biden, right after
00:12:57.060 the announcement that the Supreme Court had rolled affirmative action off the books,
00:13:03.940 he said that this is not the final word. I've never heard a president say that about a Supreme Court
00:13:12.740 decision. I have heard, of course, the reaction of this administration to Roe v. Wade and that
00:13:19.940 ruling. This is a government that, you know, these people are all talking, the left is all talking about
00:13:26.180 election deniers. This is a president who is denying our constitution. He's denying our system of
00:13:32.500 government. And no one is calling out the Biden regime for being anti-Constitution, anti-America.
00:13:41.700 What is going on here?
00:13:44.020 Well, again, this is just another arrow in the quiver of the takedown of America. And so what
00:13:50.660 they are trying to do is to delegitimize the court whenever it rules in a manner that they don't agree
00:13:56.580 with. Because at the end of the day, they want control. And so whether it's court
00:14:02.260 packing or having term limits on Supreme Court justices, these are fundamental changes that they
00:14:11.380 want so that they can implement their agenda. And so whenever a decision comes forward that they
00:14:19.780 don't agree with, you know, they don't follow the constitutional order, because the Supreme Court is
00:14:28.980 supposed to be the final word on the constitutionality of a decision. And so you may recall the Morby
00:14:35.380 Harper decision that came out two days ago, where the Supreme Court ruled six to three, that article one of
00:14:42.980 the constitution where state legislatures, it states that they have plenary authority to govern the time,
00:14:48.900 places and manner of elections. The Supreme Court ruled that they are the legislature is still subject
00:14:54.980 to judicial oversight, which for the left was a victory. They didn't complain about that. They didn't
00:15:01.700 seek to delegitimize the court. And so this just shows the intellectual dishonesty of the left and that
00:15:06.660 for them, it's not about the Constitution. It's not about America. It's about power. And that's their end game.
00:15:13.300 These are Marxist Dems leading the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party itself is now a Marxist party,
00:15:21.220 as far as I'm concerned. And certainly this administration aligned with communist China, aligned with Iran,
00:15:30.020 with Venezuela. This is this is a and Cuba, apparently, because they're not even objecting to China
00:15:36.660 building a military base in Cuba. This is a period of great peril for the United States. And this
00:15:43.620 administration is so anti-American, they don't even attempt to hide it anymore. At least they were some
00:15:49.380 subtlety in the early months of the administration. But now they're full on anti-America and anti-
00:15:55.860 certainly American sovereignty. And we're talking about this as we go into July 4th. I'd like to get your
00:16:03.620 thoughts as a former SEAL, Kurt, if I may, about what this country is, where we are, what what you're
00:16:11.780 thinking about on this July 4th.
00:16:14.500 Well, I'm thinking about the peril that this nation faces. Much of what you much of what you just alluded to.
00:16:21.460 But I'm also looking at people starting to awaken and to reassert themselves. And so I'll give you
00:16:29.780 one example that just happened in Spalding County, Georgia. The supervisors there voted to get rid of
00:16:37.220 electronic voting machines. And these are the people that are coming forward and starting to take control.
00:16:44.500 And this is against the state government. Secretary of State Rasenberger and Kemp both oppose this measure.
00:16:51.700 The same thing in Shasta County, California, where the supervisors there voted not to renew the
00:16:58.740 electronic voting machines manufacturer's contract. You want to go to hand count. And so what you're
00:17:04.180 seeing, and I think what needs to be celebrated and promoted, just as it was in 1776 and the years
00:17:11.860 preceding that, where the American people stood up to tyranny. And they just didn't go along with it
00:17:18.340 anymore. You're starting to see that same spirit come alive. And we need to promote that even further and
00:17:25.380 celebrate it. Because this is what will save the country. It's when the people start realizing that the
00:17:31.780 power resides with them for change, just as it did back in 1776.
00:17:39.380 Wise and inspiring words, Kurt Olson. We thank you very much for those words.
00:17:43.860 And we thank you very much for being with us today on The Great America Show.
00:17:48.340 Kurt, thanks so much. And God bless.
00:17:50.580 Thank you, Lou.
00:17:51.460 Kurt Olson, in the fight, working for President Trump and America. Kurt, a great American. We hope
00:17:58.820 you have a great Fourth of July, our 258th Independence Day. Let's make sure our great country
00:18:06.660 has many, many more. Our guests here tomorrow will be former senior intelligence analyst for the
00:18:11.940 National Security Agency and whistleblower Russ Tice. We hope you'll be with us. Till then,
00:18:18.420 thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.
