00:01:11.580 Now, last week, the Supreme Court issued a decision on the landmark voting rights case in Louisiana. 0.98

00:01:17.820 Arguments were heard in Virginia's Supreme Court in Scott v. McDougal.

00:01:21.520 in the case in louisiana the supreme court held that louisiana's congressional map

00:01:26.560 was unconstitutional it was racially gerrymandered under the equal protections clause of the 14th

00:01:31.900 amendment now yesterday supreme court ordered that the judgment be issued to the lower courts

00:01:37.420 immediately rather than in 32 days which will now allow louisiana to redraw its congressional maps

00:01:44.220 immediately in the mcduzel case the state held a referendum vote to temporarily amend the state's

00:01:50.060 Constitution to allow a redistricting that would most likely yield a 10-to-1 favored map for the

00:01:57.120 Democrats. Currently, the map is 6-to-5 favored of the Democrats in Virginia. President Trump

00:02:03.460 received 48% of the vote in the 2024 election. However, to restore fairness, as was worded on

00:02:09.340 the ballot, April 21st, Republicans would be limited to less than 10% representation.

00:02:14.820 so if that's not gerrymandering then what is 48 of the vote to president trump

00:02:23.680 but will now have if they're lucky one seat of representation in congress now i'm sure the

00:02:32.180 democrats know this that's how you're represented on the federal level every so many people get a

00:02:40.240 congressional seat, that congressman, congresswoman goes to Congress to represent you on the federal

00:02:44.940 level. But in the case of Virginians, 48% now have about 1% of the say. So now the Virginia

00:02:56.480 Supreme Court has not issued a decision yet on this Scott versus McDougal. However, an injunction

00:03:01.540 to halt the referendum in a lower court was left in place, which may suggest a favorable ruling

00:03:05.980 against the 10-to-1 gerrymandering favoring the Marxist Dems.

00:03:09.260 So there is some possible smooth roads ahead for the Republicans.

00:03:16.320 And me, personally speaking, I believe it's not going to be upheld in Virginia.

00:03:22.520 And if the Virginia Supreme Court does uphold it, I think it heads right to,

00:03:26.940 directly to, the U.S. Supreme Court, which we could already see,

00:04:23.120 equity and justice sought a temporary restraining order barring governor jeff landy from implementing

00:04:28.960 a new map to replace the unconstitutional gerrymandered map that they had pushed before,

00:04:36.320 for which absentee ballots were mailed out on April, and early voting began on May 2nd.

00:04:42.680 Now, in their petition, plaintiffs stated that there was irreparable harm if their members

00:04:48.700 and their votes were canceled because of the government's unlawful executive order

00:04:52.320 purporting to cancel the May 16th elections. So in other words, what they wanted is just

00:04:57.240 one last chance one last chance to cheat just one last chance kick the can down the road

00:05:04.640 so they're tweaking out they said before the governor issued his executive order

00:05:10.860 the Louisiana NAACP members had already cast their absentee ballots in the May 16,

00:05:16.280 2026 congressional primary and that as a result the governor suspended the elections

00:05:20.360 the Louisiana NAACP's efforts to educate voters on the timing of the May 16th election

00:05:25.680 they were wasted now with the supreme court's expedited judgment it would be unconstitutional

00:05:32.640 for louisiana to allow these elections to go forward given the high court's ultimate decision

00:05:37.120 that the current map violates the 14th amendment equal protection clause

00:05:41.160 so how could louisiana apply the u.s supreme court's ruling

00:05:48.400 when the election as argued in mcdougall early voting has already begun

00:05:53.600 Now, one of the central arguments in the McDougal case was that the General Assembly violated Virginia's Constitution by proposing the amendment days before the election for the next General Assembly.

00:06:07.240 In Virginia, the Constitution requires that the proposed amendment be agreed to first by the General Assembly, then an election for the House of Delegates must occur before the next General Assembly delegation votes on the proposed amendment for a second time.

00:06:20.800 From there, its proposed approval is presented to the voters of Virginia as a referendum.

00:06:28.620 Now, that's a lot, right?

00:06:30.700 And we didn't hear about it.

00:06:34.500 Because the House of Delegates didn't pass the proposal the first time until October 31st of 2025, days before the election for the next House of Delegates.

00:06:43.760 Petitioners argued that they already cast their ballots, thwarting intent of the framers to allow constituents accountability on how their delegates voted on a proposal.

00:06:53.640 Millions of early voters weren't even aware that there was such proposal that was going to be made.

00:13:29.060 couldn't figure it out now Louisiana delayed its May 16th house primaries last Thursday after the

00:13:35.760 ruling on Monday which is yesterday we'd said the Supreme Court fast-tracked the timeline

00:13:40.800 to allow them to get through it right away.

00:13:44.840 Now it's sped up this normal 32-day timeline

00:13:48.360 before Justice formally returned the case to the lower court.

00:13:52.640 It's because the Supreme Court understands there's elections that are going on.
