Hello everybody, I'm John Fossett with this Great America Show midday update for Thursday, March 13th.
00:00:05.340
Happy Thursday, folks. I hope your days are off to a great start.
00:00:08.140
If they're just getting started, if they started early, I hope they're going even better, as always.
00:00:13.140
Senate Majority Leader John Thune calling the Marxist Dems bluff.
00:00:17.500
Vowing to move forward on the Trump-backed House-passed funding plan.
00:00:21.740
Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer, that Marxist, announced this week that
00:00:24.880
after a lunch with his fellow Democrat Marxist caucus,
00:00:28.540
he would reject a House-passed government plan to keep the government funded past his Friday deadline
00:00:33.600
through the end of the fiscal year, which is September 30th.
00:00:36.980
Quote, funding the government should be a bipartisan effort, but the Republicans choose a partisan path.
00:00:43.120
Drafting their continuing resolution without any input, any input from the Congressional Democrats.
00:00:48.340
This was according to Chuck Schumer on a Senate floor speech.
00:00:51.360
Quote, because of that, because of the Republicans do not have the votes in the Senate to invoke closure on the House CR.
00:00:57.000
Of course, legislation in the Senate requires 60 votes to invoke the closure,
00:01:01.880
a necessary step in ending debate and advancing the bill to the floor.
00:01:05.520
Now, as I said, Senate Majority Leader John Thune is calling Schumer's bluff.
00:01:10.520
He moved forward on Wednesday evening to schedule the vote to invoke closure on Friday.
00:01:15.380
Thune has 53 Republicans to Schumer's 47 Democrats,
00:01:18.660
although Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has said he will oppose the CR.
00:01:22.780
Therefore, eight Democrats will be needed to invoke cloture to fast-track the bill for passing.
00:01:28.780
Now, the relatively clean CR is only 99 pages, folks.
00:01:34.240
We haven't seen a bill that short in a very long time.
00:01:36.540
It includes minimal modifications to current spending levels,
00:01:38.880
including a $485 million spending bill for immigration and custom enforcement, ICE,
00:01:45.640
requested by President Trump's Bordersar, Tom Homan, to facilitate his continued deportations.
00:01:53.520
Democrat overwhelmingly supported these spending levels in December,
00:01:57.200
although freezing current spending levels throughout an entire fiscal yield
00:02:00.440
would be a monumental achievement for the Republicans, especially for the spending hawks.
00:02:04.620
The Marxist Dems will own, will own, folks, this government shutdown,
00:02:09.920
as they have in the past, but this one falls solely on them.
00:02:21.140
Trump is threatening Europe with a 200% wine and spirit tariff.
00:02:25.760
Consequences are looming for trying to resist President Trump's bid
00:02:28.940
to rebalance the United States' economic relationship with the rest of the world
00:02:33.820
He signaled on Thursday threatening a mega 200% tariff on European alcohol.
00:02:42.320
The European Union, one of the most hostile and abusive taxing and tariffing authorities in the world,
00:02:47.800
which was formed with the sole purpose of taking advantage of the United States,
00:02:56.300
The U.S. will shortly place a 200% tariff on all wine, champagnes, and alcohol products
00:03:02.380
coming out of France and other EU representative countries.
00:03:06.400
This will be great for wine and champagne business in the United States.
00:03:13.260
It's a big problem that we are a consumption economy.
00:03:17.780
It's a big problem that we haven't had a surplus in trade since 1975, folks.
00:03:27.060
When we are the number one GDP country in the world,
00:03:29.780
there's no reason we should have a four times higher deficit in trade than the next country,
00:03:36.760
So, President Trump doing all he can to bring America back to the front
00:03:45.520
President Trump signs an executive order this week cracking down on radical activist judges
00:03:51.940
and he's demanding to pay court costs to stop frivolous injunctions
00:03:55.900
costing taxpayers millions and millions of dollars.
00:03:59.780
This anti-democratic takeover is orchestrated by a form of shopping organizations
00:04:03.820
that repeatedly bring meritless lawsuits used for funding and political grandstanding
00:04:11.180
Taxpayers are forced not only to cover their costs and their antics
00:04:16.440
but most needlessly wait for government policies they voted for.
00:04:19.940
Moreover, this situation resulted in the Department of Justice,
00:04:25.140
dedicating substantial resources to fighting frivolous suits
00:04:30.280
This effective administration of justice in the federal courts
00:04:32.740
depends on mechanisms that deter frivolous litigation
00:04:39.500
Folks, we saw it all throughout President Trump's campaign
00:04:52.320
And there was no repercussions ever levied on any of these people.
00:04:56.680
And over in Russia, Vladimir Putin says he is in favor,
00:05:05.240
He warns he has serious questions for President Trump on how it would work.
00:05:14.900
Vladimir Putin says he wants this long-term peace.
00:05:37.540
who's been hesitant to any long-term peace deals or anything like that,
00:05:44.640
saying he will not recognize any Russian territory in the region
00:05:58.000
about impending Epstein files released with a major announcement.
00:06:01.900
President Trump says he will deliver a major speech
00:06:06.100
fueling rumors that pedophile Just Jeffrey Epstein's files
00:06:12.940
remarks about restoring law and order, according to Axios.
00:06:16.160
Now, it's unhighly unusual for a president to deliver a speech at the DOG
00:06:20.400
as the agency strives to remain independent from the White House,
00:06:25.680
