00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Thursday, May 1st.
00:00:04.960 Happy May, folks. Those April showers, hopefully, will start to bring some May flowers. 1.00
00:00:10.680 Some big news out of the White House this morning. We have our first departure.
00:00:14.500 That's right. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and his deputy Alex Wong will be departing the White House this afternoon.
00:00:21.280 You may recall Mike Waltz. He was at the center of the SignalGate leak chat.
00:00:24.960 That was when Jeffrey Goldberg, that Marxist leftist of the Atlantic, somehow added to a group chat talking about plans to bomb Yemen.
00:00:33.880 Multiple people saying that the White House will be removing Waltz, his deputy Wong, and much of the team at the National Security Council
00:00:41.680 because of unhappiness throughout the national security establishment about how they are doing.
00:00:47.220 It's also been revealed, another interesting tidbit, Waltz expected firing is unrelated to the SignalGate
00:00:53.080 and the signal, or the SignalGate scandal, that is, may have instead temporarily saved Waltz's job.
00:00:59.260 Quote, the West Wing is unhappy. The State Department is unhappy.
00:01:02.620 This was before SignalGate. Ironically, SignalGate may have saved Waltz's job
00:01:07.760 because the president did not want to be seen as giving in to Jeffrey Goldberg.
00:01:13.020 Very, very interesting.
00:01:14.880 Multiple news outlets now confirming that Waltz will indeed be departing this afternoon, as I said, with most of his team.
00:01:23.080 And the Marxist Dems can't seem to get a hold of themselves.
00:01:26.740 So who's coming to the rescue? That's right, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
00:01:31.040 Hakeem Jeffries has apparently figured out how bad it is and how bad it looks for members of his party to be traveling to El Salvador
00:01:38.020 to advocate for illegals who have been deported by the Trump administration.
00:01:42.600 Jeffries is reportedly quietly telling other Democrats to knock off the trips and to stay the hell away from El Salvador.
00:01:50.220 This week, it was revealed that four Democrats traveled to El Salvador, stayed at a luxury resort.
00:01:56.380 The optics for that can't be too good, right, folks?
00:01:59.720 The entire affair has caused millions of Americans to wonder why the Democrats would go such lengths for people who aren't even American citizens.
00:02:08.720 I'm not entirely sure myself.
00:02:11.300 The Trump administration, on the reverse, has only cared about the American people and the America First Way.
00:02:16.620 The Trump administration has reportedly revoked the visas of approximately 4,000 foreign students in their first 100 days.
00:02:23.960 Almost all of these students have some sort of criminal background.
00:02:28.300 Over the last month, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reportedly said that they were trying to root out as many student radicals as they could find.
00:02:35.720 Apparently, the Secretary of State was not kidding.
00:02:39.980 This is an important policy change in the United States.
00:02:42.060 The American people do not want to play host for foreign students who come here and call for other nations' destructions that are our allies. 1.00
00:02:50.460 It doesn't make much sense.
00:02:51.940 It's much easier for you folks to just stay where you are.
00:02:55.020 And we have some good news to bring you this morning from the Senate.
00:02:57.460 The Senate vote to eliminate President Trump's tariffs has failed, despite three GOPers siding with the Marxist Dems.
00:03:05.820 Two senators who would have voted to terminate did not show up to vote.
00:03:10.580 Democrats ran into an attendance problem, I guess we could say.
00:03:13.840 Senator Sheldon Whitehouse was absent, along with Senators Mitch McConnell,
00:03:17.360 who had voted in favor of similar bills reversing tariffs on Canada earlier this month.
00:03:22.940 Maybe they ran into car trouble? Who knows? Maybe somebody spoke to them.
00:03:26.420 Senator Rand Paul, turns out he's a rhino, has sponsored a resolution that would have terminated all of President Trump's tariffs,
00:03:34.240 including those on America's top adversary, China.
00:03:38.180 The vote deadlocked to 49-49, meaning it failed by one vote.
00:03:42.460 But there were three Republicans who voted to stab President Trump in the back to end those global tariffs.
00:03:48.520 Rand Paul of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine,
00:03:52.260 and you've probably guessed the last one in this last three seconds.
00:03:55.660 That's why I've been delaying?
00:03:57.460 That's right, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.
00:04:00.960 Constantly the same names, folks.
00:04:02.640 2026 is right around the door.
00:04:06.160 It's time to get rid of these rhinos once and for all.
00:04:10.080 Paul's legislation is similar to the tariff bill that passed earlier this month,
00:04:13.560 though more expansive.
00:04:15.100 That bill sponsored by, of course, Senator Tim Kaine,
00:04:18.040 would have terminated the national emergency tariffs only on Canada.
00:04:21.560 Now, I want to tell you why it just makes zero sense on Rand Paul's part as for what he's trying to do.
00:04:28.060 Even if the bill passed, it faced almost certain defeat in the House of Representatives.
00:04:32.880 In addition, Republicans have also recently voted to make it harder for lawmakers to take up resolutions
00:04:38.300 related to Trump's tariff authority.
00:04:41.880 And did he seem to forget about the veto power that the President of the United States has?
00:04:46.420 I guess he did. 1.00
00:04:49.000 What Rand Paul did was absolutely stupid, and it was stupid to make the Republicans look that way. 1.00
00:04:54.440 But, 2026 is around the corner, folks. 1.00
00:04:57.160 Let's not forget what these people are doing.
00:04:59.180 And the long-awaited United States and Ukraine deal to sign for rare-earth minerals has finally been signed.
00:05:07.080 Earlier this year, President Trump announced he would be demanding Ukraine provide the United States
00:05:11.480 with access to its vast reserves of rare-earth minerals in exchange for continued military and financial assistance.
00:05:17.900 The deal will grant the United States privileged access to new investment projects
00:05:21.520 to develop Ukraine's natural resources, including aluminum, graphite, oil, and natural gases.
00:05:27.120 This was the deal that was set to be signed when Zelensky came to the White House just about a month ago.
00:05:32.080 And through his temper tantrum, President Trump recently met with Zelensky in the Vatican
00:05:37.320 for the funeral for the Pope.
00:05:41.000 Unsure if that's where the deal was made, but it would make for a pretty damn good story, wouldn't it?
00:05:46.240 A deal in the Vatican?
00:05:47.920 Now, it's unclear how the peace talks will resume.
00:05:50.700 Vladimir Putin not happy about the United States signing that mineral rights deal.
