The Great America Show - Thursday Update： May 8, 2025

00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Thursday, May 8th.

00:00:04.180 Happy Thursday, folks. The bells are ringing in Vatican City, just outside of Rome, Italy,

00:00:10.540 6 o'clock local time, 6 p.m. local time, I should say, just after 12 o'clock Eastern time,

00:00:17.520 if you're here on the eastern seaboard here in America.

00:00:20.720 White smoke poured out of the Sistine Chapel chimney, which means we have a new pope.

00:00:26.100 Well, Cardinal Robert Prevost, an American missionary who spent his career ministering in Peru,

00:00:31.960 leads the Vatican's powerful office of bishops, was elected the first American pope

00:00:36.380 in the nearly 2,000-year history of the Catholic Church.

00:00:41.480 Prevost, who's now officially the new pope, will take on the name Leo XIV as his new name.

00:00:47.980 President Trump, in an earlier-than-usual press conference in the Oval Office this morning,

00:00:51.760 unveiled the first of his post-tariff Liberation Day trade deals,

00:00:56.040 this one with the United Kingdom, revealing increased market access with, quote,

00:00:59.860 one of our closest and most cherished allies.

00:01:03.180 The United States and United Kingdom are to sign the, quote,

00:01:05.680 tremendous trade deal and enter into economic security alignment,

00:01:09.480 President Trump's saying in the Oval Office during a conference with Prime Minister Sir Keir Straumer.

00:01:14.340 What's included in that new trade deal is a $5 billion opportunity for new exports for U.S. farmers, ranchers, and producers,

00:01:22.100 the opening for $700 million in ethanol exports and $250 million in other agricultural products like beef,

00:01:29.200 streamlined customs for exports, securing of the supply chain of U.S. aerospace manufacturers

00:01:34.780 through preferential access to high-quality U.K. aerospace components,

00:01:40.040 and lastly, a trading union for steel and aluminum.

00:01:42.520 President Trump also still leaving on that 10% tariff.

00:01:46.600 The art of the deal, folks. The art of the deal.

00:01:49.940 Some good news for U.S. citizens.

00:01:51.520 Illegal aliens, beginning May 7th, can no longer fly without a REAL ID, 1.00

00:01:56.580 according to the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Noem.

00:01:59.960 The exception of the new flight identification standard is for those who want to self-deport.

00:02:05.760 The TSA agents have began enforcing REAL ID at airports across the United States.

00:02:09.640 On Wednesday, Congress passed the REAL ID Act about 20 years ago following the attacks of 9-11.

00:02:16.520 To get a REAL ID, it's pretty simple.

00:02:18.320 Well, the simple part is what you have to do.

00:02:20.940 The not-so-simple part is sitting in the Department of Motor Vehicle,

00:02:23.480 where we often see some of the angriest government employees, I think, on the planet. 0.86

00:02:28.740 To get a REAL ID, you just have to go to the DMV and prove that you're an American citizen,

00:02:33.660 whether you have a green card, a passport, a birth certificate, a Social Security card.

00:02:37.200 That's all you've got to do.

00:02:38.060 So, as long as you're an American citizen, a U.S. citizen, you should have no problem.

00:02:42.500 Now, the people who might have a little bit of an issue are the illegal aliens. 0.94

00:02:46.500 The Trump administration is set to release damning new audio of Biden's classified documents interview

00:02:52.820 with Special Counsel Robert Herr.

00:02:55.600 The Trump administration is reportedly preparing to release the full set of audio

00:02:59.020 for the now infamous classified documents interview with that Special Counsel.

00:03:03.600 The recording, which was long shielded by Biden's Gestapo-like Justice Department,

00:03:07.360 is expected to confirm what conservatives have known for a long time.

00:03:11.720 Joe Biden was mentally unfit for office, and Democrats knew all along.

00:03:15.900 Folks, you know how much great joy it brings me to bring you guys great news on this show.

00:03:22.880 Truth, justice, and the American way, you know, is the mantra of this show.

00:03:26.920 Well, I've got some good news for you today, because truth, justice, and the American way

00:03:30.900 will always prevail, regardless of anybody who stands in the way of it.

00:03:35.060 The FBI, this afternoon, has decided they're going to launch a criminal investigation

00:03:39.460 into New York Attorney General Letitia James over mortgage fraud. 0.86

00:03:43.780 The FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office in Albany have opened formal criminal investigations

00:03:48.700 examining the real estate and mortgage transaction of Letitia James,

00:03:52.240 according to law enforcement sources being briefed on the matter.

00:03:55.860 It's unclear why U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi steered the referral to New York's Northern District.

00:04:01.180 Although James is a statewide elected official with offices in Albany,

00:04:04.760 the transactions that she was taking part in involve her personal property and purchases

00:04:08.720 and loans that were processed in New York City and Virginia.

00:04:12.500 Some of the transactions also may fall outside the federal statute of limitations,

00:04:16.740 although one of the mortgages involved in James' assessment

00:04:20.080 is a loan document related to her 2023 purchase of a resident in Virginia.

00:04:25.480 Last month, you may recall, the Trump administration criminally referred James

00:04:28.980 to the Justice Department over accusations of mortgage fraud.

00:04:31.660 The Federal Housing and Finance Agency, FHFA, accused James of falsifying records,

00:04:37.480 citing a five-unit property in New York.

00:04:40.000 She claimed it was only four units in order to get a more favorable loan.

00:04:44.680 This is exactly what she went after Donald Trump for, wasn't it?

00:04:48.140 I guess retribution is coming, but it's coming in the form of, as I keep saying,

00:04:53.860 truth, justice, and the American way.

00:04:55.800 There's no laws being broken here.

00:04:57.300 Tish James broke the law, and she must be prosecuted now, 1.00

00:05:01.620 because that's what she said about Donald Trump.

00:05:03.680 Rules for thee, and rules are going to be for me as well.
