The Great America Show - Tuesday Update： April 8, 2025

00:00:00.000 Hello everybody, I'm John Fossett with this Great America Show midday update for Tuesday, April 8th.

00:00:04.660 Happy Tuesday, folks.

00:00:06.560 Volkswagen freezing all U.S. imports, including Audi, due to President Trump's 25% auto tariffs.

00:00:12.260 That's right, Volkswagen slamming the brakes on all imports to the U.S.

00:00:16.680 as executives are scrambling to figure out how they will be affected by President Trump's tariffs.

00:00:22.000 The German auto giant, which owns Audi, was holding cars that arrived after April 2nd

00:00:26.000 when President Trump announced a 25% tariff on all auto imports and that kicked in at U.S. ports.

00:00:33.700 Volkswagen execs have ordered dealerships of a luxury brand and showroom

00:00:37.340 to work with the company's existing inventory of about 37,000 vehicles

00:00:41.360 for roughly two months of sales, according to trade publications.

00:00:46.300 Now, America sells about a million Volkswagen vehicles a year,

00:00:51.020 so it'll be interesting to see just what they want to do in the long run

00:00:56.520 and how they're going to play this out.

00:00:59.060 The tariffs may cause Audi executives to rethink the strategy

00:01:02.500 as the 25% duty could hobble the company's efforts to compete with, you know,

00:01:07.340 German rivals like BMW or Mercedes.

00:01:10.460 Volkswagen, of course, has a plant and a line of cars from Chattanooga, Tennessee.

00:01:14.660 BMW has a plant in South Carolina with Mercedes factory in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.

00:01:21.020 Car makers usually have a maximum just under three months' worth of inventory on hand in the United States.

00:01:28.080 Could give some foreign automakers some wiggle room as they try to establish

00:01:31.800 what impacts the tariffs will have on them as a company as a whole.

00:01:37.720 Now, America alone sells about a million Volkswagen vehicles,

00:01:42.980 so we'll wait and we'll see just how they want to play this out

00:01:46.940 and, you know, how they want to proceed with the tariffs.

00:01:49.960 But, that's how it goes.

00:01:52.260 America first, folks.

00:01:53.240 That's what we all voted for.

00:01:54.920 A new shocking poll.

00:01:56.020 Majority of Marxist left center Americans now justifying a Trump assassination attempt?

00:02:03.000 The survey was conducted by Network Contagion Research Institute

00:02:06.500 found that a disturbing number of self-identified leftists

00:02:09.840 are in favor of violence against their political enemies.

00:02:12.900 According to the survey, an average of 1,300 Americans,

00:02:16.860 31% of respondents said it would be at least somewhat justified to murder Elon Musk,

00:02:22.540 while 38% said the same thing about President Trump.

00:02:25.660 Among the respondents who identified as left of center,

00:02:28.900 support these acts as significantly higher,

00:02:31.520 48% in Musk's case and 55% in Trump's.

00:02:35.020 Now, nearly 40% of all respondents also stated that destroying a Tesla dealership

00:02:40.700 in protest would be at least somewhat acceptable.

00:02:44.940 Folks, these people are not mentally all there. 1.00

00:02:48.980 As a matter of fact, they're mentally insane.

00:02:52.740 I'm not entirely sure what these people think they're getting away with, 0.98

00:02:56.320 but it's a new America.

00:02:58.520 It's time to make America great again,

00:03:00.240 and these people want to stand in the way,

00:03:01.620 and they want to cause destruction.

00:03:03.280 This isn't the 2020 summer of love anymore.

00:03:06.120 They're going to learn the hard way.

00:03:07.980 And an unlikely 2028 contender,

00:03:10.480 I know we're a little bit a ways away.

00:03:12.160 President Trump just took office,

00:03:13.480 but we always got to look into the future.

00:03:15.840 An unlikely contender, what it was last week,

00:03:18.700 now says he's open to all options.

00:03:21.880 That's right.

00:03:22.220 Stephen A. Smith of ESPN saying that after weeks of denying

00:03:26.160 he would entertain running for president in 2028,

00:03:28.840 he's now saying he's leaving all doors open.

00:03:33.360 That after a new poll out from our good friend,

00:03:36.100 Rasmussen, Mark Mitchell over there,

00:03:38.740 showing Stephen A. Smith within striking distance

00:03:41.440 of Kamala Harris for the 2028 nomination.

00:03:44.460 We'll keep you updated here as a new polling comes available,

00:03:47.180 and if we find out any intentions of Mr. Stephen A. Smith,

00:03:51.060 we will keep you updated.

00:03:53.380 The Supreme Court is allowing Donald Trump

00:03:55.320 and the Trump administration to enforce deportations

00:03:58.060 of gang members under the Alien Enemies Act.

00:04:02.020 The Supreme Court of the United States lifted a block

00:04:04.040 from U.S. District Judge,

00:04:05.660 Marxist Judge James Bosberg,

00:04:08.540 which prevented President Trump's administration

00:04:10.360 from deporting suspected illegal alien gang members

00:04:13.480 under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act.

00:04:17.120 While the ruling from the Supreme Court

00:04:18.840 is a win for President Trump and his administration,

00:04:21.460 it's described as narrow and focused

00:04:23.200 on the proper venue for the cases

00:04:25.260 rather than the administration's use

00:04:27.440 of centuries-old law to justify the decision.

00:04:30.460 So we'll just have to keep on going

00:04:31.900 and see when they stop us again.

00:04:34.160 I'm assuming it'll be sometime soon.

00:04:37.520 In Housing Urban Development,

00:04:38.800 Secretary Scott Turner has published a letter

00:04:40.740 to the HUD grantees warning them

00:04:43.200 that no U.S. tax dollars are to be spent

00:04:46.000 on supporting or housing illegal aliens.

00:04:49.660 Secretary Turner is saying,

00:04:51.020 quote, I want to make it crystal clear,

00:04:53.480 no taxpayer dollars will be given to organizations

00:04:56.080 that support, house, shelter, or provide care

00:04:59.480 to illegal aliens who broke the law.

00:05:02.360 Amen, and God bless Secretary Turner.

00:05:05.460 As I said, folks, it's a new dawn,

00:05:07.360 it's a new day, and America is back.

00:05:10.920 President Trump is reportedly planning

00:05:12.380 a military parade to be held on June 14, 2025,

00:05:16.480 the 250th anniversary of the United States Army.

00:05:19.300 It just so happens to be President Trump's birthday.

00:05:23.060 Washington, D.C. source with knowledge

00:05:24.560 of Trump's planning told the Washington newspaper

00:05:26.940 that the military parade will stretch

00:05:28.940 almost four miles from the Pentagon

00:05:30.320 to Arlington, in Arlington, to the White House.

00:05:33.920 Very nice for the most patriotic president,

00:05:36.920 at least in my lifetime, maybe in yours.
