00:00:00.000 Hello, everybody. I'm John Fawcett with This Great America Show midday update for Tuesday, May 6th.
00:00:04.260 Happy Tuesday, folks. President Trump earlier this afternoon meeting with the newly elected
00:00:09.980 Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney. An interesting conversation. Carney is socialist,
00:00:15.280 globalist, communist, I guess we can say. Praised President Trump for what he's done for America,
00:00:23.480 what he plans to do for America, and the message he ran on. Sort of interesting coming from a
00:00:28.040 socialist. Take a listen. Thank you for your hospitality and above all for your leadership.
00:00:34.240 You're a transformational president, a focus on the economy with a relentless focus on the American
00:00:40.120 worker, securing your borders, ending the scourge of fentanyl and other opioids, and securing the
00:00:49.160 world. And I've been elected with my colleagues here, with the help of my colleagues here, I'm
00:00:58.740 to transform Canada, with a similar focus on the economy, securing our borders, again on fentanyl,
00:01:05.860 much greater focus on defense and security, securing the Arctic and developing the Arctic.
00:01:11.900 And the history of Canada and the U.S. is we're stronger when we work together, and there's many
00:01:16.380 opportunities to work together. And I look forward to addressing some of those issues that we have,
00:01:21.260 but also finding those areas of mutual cooperation so we can move forward.
00:01:25.400 That's great. Very nice. Thank you very much. Very nice statement.
00:01:28.860 Now, the conversation got a little interesting when the topic of the sale of Canada came up.
00:01:35.540 Carney says that Canada's never for sale, but Trump had different thoughts about the situation. Take a listen.
00:01:41.140 As you know from real estate, there are some places that are never for sale.
00:01:46.000 That's true.
00:01:46.360 We're sitting in one right now, you know, Buckingham Palace that you visited as well.
00:01:50.280 That's true.
00:01:51.220 And having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign last several months,
00:01:57.280 it's not for sale. It won't be for sale ever. But the opportunity is in the partnership and
00:02:04.180 what we can build together. And we have done that in the past. And part of that, as the president
00:02:08.700 just said, is with respect to our own security. And my government is committed for a step change
00:02:16.260 in our investment in Canadian security and our partnership. And I'll say this as well,
00:02:21.720 that the president has revitalized international security, revitalized NATO, and us playing our
00:02:28.380 full weight in NATO. And that will be part of the issue.
00:02:30.900 They have, I must say, Canada is stepping up the military.
00:02:38.700 Right from the man's mouth himself, never say never, President Trump to Prime Minister Mark
00:02:54.760 Carney. Folks, we got a little issue in the Senate. The rhinos are acting up again yesterday on the
00:02:59.760 Great America Show. We brought you the story about D.C. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin and his nomination
00:03:06.020 to be the next U.S. Attorney. It has to be done in the next two weeks. And if it's not,
00:03:12.380 Marxist Dem, radical Marxist Dem, and radical Trump hater, Judge Boesberg, is going to get to
00:03:19.040 pick the replacement, the temporary replacement for the D.C. U.S. Attorney. Now, a United States
00:03:25.120 Senator, a Republican, in air quotes, who's facing re-election in 2026, is willing to let that
00:03:31.960 crooked Judge Boesberg pick the next attorney. Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina told reporters
00:03:38.620 on Capitol Hill this morning that he has said to the White House he will not support Ed Martin's
00:03:44.180 nomination for D.C. Attorney at this point due to concerns over January 6th. Take a listen.
00:03:50.500 I met with Mr. Martin. He seems like a good man. Most of my concerns related to January 6th. And he
00:03:59.380 built a compelling case on some of the 15, 12 prosecutions that were probably heat of the
00:04:06.020 moment bad decisions. But where we probably have a difference is I think anybody that reached the
00:04:12.300 perimeter should have been in prison for some period of time. Whether it's 30 days or three years is
00:04:16.280 debatable, but I have no tolerance for anybody who entered the building on January the 6th. And
00:04:21.980 that's probably where most of the friction was. I see. So he disagreed with you on that?
00:04:25.820 Well, no, I have to say that Mr. Martin did a good job of explaining how there were people that
00:04:31.920 probably got caught up in it. But they made the stupid decision to come through a building that had 1.00
00:04:37.720 been breached and that the police officers and others were saying stay away. So the difference wasn't 1.00
00:04:42.880 that they should be charged, in my estimation, it's by how much. That's an argument I'm willing
00:04:48.060 to have. But we have to be very, very clear that what happened on January the 6th was wrong. It
00:04:54.180 wasn't, it was not prompted or created by other people to put those people in trouble. They made
00:05:01.520 a stupid decision and they disgraced the United States by absolutely destroying the Capitol. At this 1.00
00:05:07.780 point, I've indicated to the White House I wouldn't support his nomination.
00:05:10.480 How's Trump called you? I know this. Mr. President, I talk all the time.
00:05:15.260 Tom Tillis, a total rhino. What he forgets to mention is the Capitol Police officers who
00:05:20.460 opened the doors for some of those people to come through the hallways. You know, I don't
00:05:24.180 have to explain this to you folks. You guys know it better than perhaps anybody as you've
00:05:27.900 followed us on this show and lived through it with us for the past many years. Tillis is a total
00:05:33.700 disgrace, a total disgrace to this country and his constituents. What these judges and prosecutors 0.98
00:05:39.820 did to some of these January Sixers with that 1512C charge he was talking about, that obstruction,
00:05:45.580 which the Supreme Court said that is unconstitutional and not allowed to be used. Tillis comes out
00:05:52.540 now and is just using the talking points of the Marxist left. So folks, I'm going to give
00:05:56.680 you the phone number to Tom Tillis' office. It's 202-224-6342-202-224-6342. I'll give it to you one
00:06:07.540 more time for you to write it down. 202-224-6342. Folks, I don't ask you for much on this show.
00:06:17.480 Hammer those phones, call that office and let him know about your frustration with him not supporting
00:06:23.440 Ed Martin for D.C. U.S. Attorney for standing up to the tyrants of the left. Now, as I mentioned,
00:06:29.800 Tillis is up for re-election in 2026. A move like this would sort of put him in a peculiar place if
00:06:35.220 he's not going to run again. If he is going to run again, I should say. If he's not going to run again,
00:06:40.320 then he knows what he's doing. But please call that office and let them know that you support Ed
00:06:47.120 Martin for D.C. U.S. Attorney and enough is enough with the RINOs going against the Trump administration.
00:06:53.880 Columbia University, they're in big trouble. 180 jobs have been lost due to President Trump's
00:07:00.400 administration's federal cuts. Quote, moving forward, we'll be running lighter footprints of
00:07:05.160 research infrastructure in some areas and in other maintaining level of research continuing
00:07:09.640 to pursue alternate funding sources. In some cases, schools and departments are winding down
00:07:15.080 activities but remain prepared to re-establish capability if support is restored. This is
00:07:21.500 from Claire Shipman, the school's acting president. I'm so sorry, folks. Maybe you shouldn't have
00:07:27.720 supported pro-Hamas, pro-terrorists, massive demonstrations on your campus, allowing them to 0.56
00:07:34.740 create an insurrection, I should say, on the campus. Maybe you shouldn't allow that to happen
00:07:40.440 and your federal funding wouldn't have been cut. Pretty simple, right? Folks, please be sure to join us
00:07:45.940 today for The Great America Show. We're going to be joined by former L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva.
00:07:51.900 He's got a big announcement. He's a Democrat, but maybe not anymore. He's going to join us today at
00:07:57.440 6 p.m. on The Great America Show, 6 p.m. Eastern time, that is. Please be sure to join us for that
00:08:02.140 tonight and each and every day for The Great America Show. I'm John Fossett with this Midday Update. Have a great day, everybody.
