The John-Henry Westen Show - Cardinal Müller's Take On Pope Francis' Pick For The Synod： Fr. James Martin

00:00:00.000 Do you ever wish you had a high-ranking church official, maybe even a cardinal, maybe even a

00:00:06.240 Vatican cardinal, explain to you exactly what the heck is going on in the church today? Because

00:00:11.540 things are nuts. We've got the Pope appointing the best-known heretic in all of the United States, 1.00

00:00:19.440 among the bishops, that is, to be a cardinal. When in this same area, in fact, this bishop,

00:00:26.000 and of course, I'm speaking of Bishop McElroy in San Diego, but this bishop was the suffragan,

00:00:32.040 which means a sort of like a lower bishop than the major archbishop in the area, which is of course

00:00:39.180 Gomez in Los Angeles, but Gomez is not made a cardinal, but San Diego's McElroy is. Very

00:00:46.420 confusing times. Also, Father James Martin promoting homosexuality, transgender, everything, all over 0.68

00:00:53.840 the place, being given all sorts of accolades by the Pope. The Pope answers his dubia. He won't

00:01:00.160 answer the dubia of the cardinals. This is nuts. You know, and then there's rumors about Pope Francis

00:01:06.980 going to resign. Is he dying? Why is he holding a consistory in August when it's super hot?

00:01:13.640 We've got a Vatican cardinal here to answer all of that. Stay tuned to the John Henry Weston Show.

00:01:23.840 Take a look at this. This is Cardinal Burke talking in 2017 about demonic forces entering the church

00:01:45.260 at that time in 2017. Hard to believe that so long ago. This was given at Rome Life Forum,

00:01:50.400 a conference that LifeCite has been running since 2014, actually. Do you know that we're running

00:01:55.980 another one this year, October 31st and November 1st? That is right at the end of this horrific

00:02:03.560 synod on synodality. October 31st, November 1st, 2023. Come join us in Rome. Go to RomeLifeForum.com

00:02:12.720 for more information. Watch Cardinal Burke give this snippet on demonic forces entering into the

00:02:18.600 Vatican from his talk at Rome Life Forum in 2017. It seems clear from the most respected studies of

00:02:27.280 the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima that it has to do with the diabolical forces unleashed upon the

00:02:34.300 world in our time and entering into the very life of the church. For the recovery of peace will be a

00:02:41.460 gift from heaven, but it is not properly speaking the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Her

00:02:48.540 victory is of another order, supernatural and then temporal by addition. It will first be the victory

00:02:57.600 of the faith, which will put an end to the time of apostasy and the great shortcomings of the church's

00:03:05.320 pastors. Thank you, Eminence, for joining us on the John Henry Weston Show. In the name of the Father,

00:03:13.360 and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. If I could start, we are right now experiencing a lot

00:03:21.020 of consternation. There's a bunch of cardinals in Rome right now. Megyn Kelly was just on television 0.68

00:03:28.020 saying something's going on. There's a lot of rumour about Pope Francis may retire, Pope Francis may be

00:03:35.320 dying. Can you tell us anything about what's going on in Rome right now?

00:03:41.260 Yeah, I don't exactly know what is happening, but nobody knows what is happening. All is in God's

00:03:49.580 hand. The day will come and everyone has to die. And also the Pope is a human being, a man like us, and is a

00:04:00.560 pilgrim on this earth. And we have to pray for him because he is a successor of St. Peter. St. Peter is the first

00:04:13.580 pope and shepherd of the universal church, and also be a human being with all his lights and shadows,

00:04:26.300 every body of us. And we have to ask the pardon of God and looking for his grace. And I don't hope,

00:04:36.780 personally, not that he will retire, because Pope Benedict did retire. And this was a great shockwave

00:04:48.780 for the church, because the pope is a bishop, the bishop of Rome. But at the same time, he has a principle

00:04:57.740 and the fundamental, the permanent fundament of the unity of the whole church in the revealed faith.

00:05:04.460 And in the communio of all the bishops of all the local churches. And therefore, the other thing,

00:05:12.620 as a retirement of the bishop, because this has some repercussions for all the church. And the Pope

00:05:25.420 Benedict is still alive. And it will be a big problem to have two popes,

00:05:33.340 and it is not good for the church. But everybody has its own meaning. But me, as a theologian,

00:05:45.340 I am fundamentally against the resignation of the popes. Only in extreme cases, we can understand it.

00:05:59.820 But in normal situations, we must always accept that the pope is a human and become older. Everybody

00:06:10.700 of us become older. But God loves everybody. If he's a baby or if you are 95 or 100 years old, with all the

00:06:20.540 problems of becoming older. But we have to give witness also in our sufferings, in our becoming

00:06:29.580 old and our old aged. If we are in every case, God is with us. And the government of the universal church

00:06:41.340 is another understanding of a political big state, like the United States or the world power here is more

00:06:54.380 important. The testimony you are giving for Jesus Christ, the crucified and the risen Lord and the hope we have

00:07:03.580 for us all after this earthen life.

00:07:13.100 One of the things that is fueling this speculation is that the consistory is being held in August,

00:07:22.220 when normally it's not extremely hot in Rome. Normally, the pope would go off to Castel Gandolfo.

00:07:28.460 It's not happening. There's a consistory now happening in Rome.

00:07:33.980 Do you know, in August, which is the worst time, have you ever seen that before? What's your thoughts

00:07:40.300 on why that's happening now? I think it's very strange, because it's the hottest time in Rome. It

00:07:49.260 could become 40 degrees or more. And if you are all together in this relatively small roof, 200 persons,

00:07:58.860 it will be not the hell, but the purgatory for all. It could be that the Holy Father wants to prepare

00:08:07.900 for us for purgatory because we are all sinners. What's shown to our time in the purgatory. That could be.

00:08:16.860 And it could be that he is looking, if we are well prepared, not only to be close to him in good times,

00:08:30.060 but also when it becomes hot in the metaphorical sense and I, and we will do the best I will do,

00:08:42.300 give my best to help him and to the Holy, our Holy Mother, the Catholic Church.

00:08:50.540 But it's a little bit strange. It's true.

00:08:52.620 That is exactly the August, not why yet, now, in this moment, this moment, and why to wait,

00:09:03.740 first with the announcement of the consistory, and now to wait with the realization, three months,

00:09:16.380 is very strange.

00:09:19.340 One of the bishops being elevated to Cardinal is, in the United States, extremely controversial

00:09:28.140 because he has taken stances on life, on family, particularly, particularly on homosexuality,

00:09:36.940 that are at odds with the Church's teaching on homosexuality. The most famous of those, Bishop McElroy,

00:09:49.100 he's argued for all sorts of things, very particularly on the life issue. He was adamantly

00:09:55.340 against denying Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians. In fact, he argued at the Bishop's

00:10:03.100 Conference against any kind of superiority of abortion as a matter for choice in elections. He was talking

00:10:11.740 about how poverty should be at the same level. And so he's been a very controversial figure in the

00:10:19.900 Church in the United States. And yet he was elevated to the College of Cardinals, despite the fact also

00:10:27.020 that he is a Suffrican Bishop, and that the current Bishop of Los Angeles, who's the Metropolitan there,

00:10:34.860 is himself still an Archbishop, but not elevated to the College of Cardinals. Archbishop Gomez

00:10:41.580 remains Archbishop Gomez, and not Cardinal Gomez. Do you have any comment on that?

00:10:48.220 Not only in the United States, but everywhere in the world, nobody can understand

00:10:53.820 this appointment because it's not only an election of some bishops on the periphery outside,

00:11:07.100 but can justify it with the internationalization of the College of Cardinals, but in the United States,

00:11:15.500 biggest diocese of the world, of the United States, is Los Angeles,

00:11:23.580 and they have a very, very good bishop. And this is a fingertip, I think, for a certain understanding,

00:11:34.620 I think a wrong understanding of the Catholic Church in America. The categories in which the Church in some

00:11:44.860 countries is interpreted is, according to my opinion, absolutely wrong. The Church is not divided in

00:11:52.940 fractions, in a liberal wing and conservative wing. The difference is for all Catholics, and especially for

00:12:04.060 the bishops to be faithful to the Word of God and the doctrine of the Holy Church. We are not bishops in

00:12:13.980 our own name, with our political understanding and preferences. I cannot say I am on the side of Biden,

00:12:22.220 nor of Trump, nor of Trump, nor of Trump, and therefore I will change the Catholic faith according to my

00:12:29.660 political options. But the opposite is true. We have, as Christians, we have to

00:12:37.580 give some orientation for the politicians, especially if they are naming themselves Catholics. They must 0.81

00:12:48.380 act in the Catholic name, not as a pressure group for the Catholicism. We don't need pressure groups or

00:12:56.300 help of politicians or help of politicians for the Church, but for the natural right and the natural

00:13:03.900 basis moral. And the first right of everybody is the right to life, for life, to live there. This is the

00:13:16.060 first gift God gave us. And if a bishop is saying the same level is our struggle against poverty,

00:13:26.060 like not so much against abortion. That is the wrong, absolute wrong approach to the question. It's a

00:13:35.980 political approach, but not a theological and moral approach to the questions. We say the Church is the

00:13:47.580 advocate of the Church of God. We advocate for everybody, also for the non-Christians, because we believe that

00:13:55.180 everybody is a creature of God. And therefore, the right to life is an absolute basic fundamental right. And we see

00:14:06.380 there is a war going on. The war against the life which is coming from God. The beginning 0.61

00:14:16.860 of the life, we are now killing the coming generation, the children in the modern womb, 1.00

00:14:29.820 and also our grandparents with euthanasia, and destroying the basis of all the consequences

00:14:42.860 of the generations, which is the matrimony of man and woman of one-one, and his own woman, and not 0.67

00:14:53.900 the several so-called diverse forms of sexuality. The sexuality is only for man and woman in the

00:15:05.980 matrimony who has read the first page of the Bible, and then the authentic

00:15:15.500 interpretation of the work of God by the Son, Jesus Christ. He gave in Matthew 39 about what is matrimony.

00:15:27.180 He gives the definition of matrimony. The man will let behind father and mother and will be linked and

00:15:38.460 together with his wife, and they will become one flesh, one unity of thinking, of body, of sexuality.

00:15:48.140 And this is the source of the family, the children. And father and father coming from there,

00:15:58.620 fathers and mothers, and they are the great

00:16:03.820 and the great line of the generations, of the beginning of the creation until to the end of the

00:16:13.180 world. And God has gave to us human beings this great responsibility to become in the matrimony as

00:16:24.540 father and mother the mediators of the natural life. And in our Christian thinking,

00:16:30.940 Catholic father and mother, Christian father and mother and father are the first representatives of

00:16:40.060 Jesus Christ. According to our common priesthood, father and mother has a priestly role towards their own

00:16:52.940 children. And that is absolutely clear that every priest, cardinal, the pope, every bishop must be

00:17:05.340 absolutely faithful to the revealed faith and to the natural law which is given to us without making his

00:17:17.740 personal politics. And a good bishop is a shepherd and not a politician of the second class.

00:17:38.300 You know that here on LifeSite we love to tell amazing stories. There are few so heroic and amazing

00:17:46.140 as the story we're about to tell you that's coming soon. You gotta watch this.

00:17:53.260 When I was in seminary, I was reading a book by Henry Nowen. He talked about a nuclear man, you know,

00:17:59.180 and people who grew up in the 1980s were kind of formed by that immediate and constant threat of nuclear

00:18:06.620 annihilation. My generation has grown up, you know, under the specter of priestly sexual abuse.

00:18:15.420 I think that for many of us that has also been all-encompassing, you know, I mean,

00:18:24.940 I entered the seminary in January of 2004 and it's basically been there for me from in the beginning.

00:18:32.060 One priest's sacrifice for many priestly sins. The story of Father John Halliwell. Coming soon from LifeSite News.

00:18:47.180 One of the, that actually brings us to my last question. I thank you so much for your time.

00:18:55.980 We have probably been beset by something going on in the church almost more than anything else.

00:19:03.580 In Father James Martin, a Jesuit, we have a priest who is world famous for the promotion of homosexuality, 1.00

00:19:16.540 for a change in the church to accept homosexuality. He was looked down upon by certain faithful bishops in

00:19:24.300 the United States who looked at him and were saying, you can't do this, you can't try to change the

00:19:30.300 teaching of the church. Nevertheless, Pope Francis first invited him to speak at the World Meeting of

00:19:37.820 Families, then invited him to become a member of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications,

00:19:43.420 then met with him personally in an audience which Father Fritz, excuse me, Father Martin used to promote

00:19:53.020 his homosexual pushing, if you will. He then also, this is Pope Francis also, answered various dubia or 0.64

00:20:02.060 questions that Father Martin posed on behalf of an LGBT group that he himself founded. And the Pope answered

00:20:11.900 those questions. At the same time, Pope Francis has not met with Cardinal Zen when he came to visit on

00:20:20.060 behalf of Chinese Catholics suffering under the heel of communism, and also would not answer 0.94

00:20:27.260 Cardinal Burke and the other dubia cardinals their questions. Catholics around the world are very confused,

00:20:36.060 confused, and we're wondering what we should do. Could you help us to understand and give us a way forward?

00:20:46.380 I am a Catholic theologian, Bishop and Cardinal, Roman Cardinal, absolutely on the side of the Pope,

00:20:53.900 but in the institution of papacy. But that doesn't mean that I have to justify all what is happening,

00:21:03.580 because also in the past, some great theologians, Saint Augustine, criticized some actions of words of

00:21:14.860 the popes of their time, and other some cases. Now, my great predecessor as prefect of the congregation of

00:21:24.940 the faith without their name. Cardinal Robert Bellarmine, he criticized also some ideas of the Pope.

00:21:37.260 And Melchior Cano was an absolute great Catholic theologian. He said, it's not the adulation of the Pope

00:21:48.780 which makes the papacy great in the church, but it is absolutely clear and nobody can change the doctrine

00:21:59.420 of our Catholic faith that homosexual behavior is a grave sin, but all forms of sexuality outside of the legitimate 0.97

00:22:13.100 matrimony is a great sin, a mortal sin. And Father Martin cannot change it with all his political actions

00:22:25.020 and his networking and all his propaganda he is making. What he is doing is a heresy,

00:22:36.860 absolutely a heresy. Nobody can justify it and he cannot excuse himself only with the doing of a pastoral work for

00:22:49.100 these persons with a sexual self-attraction. Nobody is more close to these people as Jesus Christ who gave his life

00:23:01.660 for every body. But this was not a justification of the sin, but a justification of the sinners.

00:23:09.900 And they gave us a grace to convert us and nobody can say I have a tendency to the

00:23:18.940 poly-marriage or to do I love not only one woman, but I love five. That is not a justification

00:23:29.340 for this. This is the abbreviation of the true sense of the matrimony, which is the love between

00:23:41.100 men and women. And therefore, there is no chance and they can do what they want, but what is wrong is wrong,

00:23:51.340 and what is right is right. And they cannot make us quiet. And with all the propaganda machine, with their

00:24:00.940 deformations, they are making against us. I heard this is Father Martin, who also that, of the Cardinal Müller,

00:24:10.460 because I am not under this line about what he is doing, is absolutely wrong and is misleading the people.

00:24:19.980 And he is bringing in danger the salvation of the people with his wrong ideas and his wrong actions.

00:24:32.380 And they cannot introduce wrong ideas and misleading of the people only according to this ideology of LGBT

00:24:48.460 propaganda. And the other thing, we are the Catholic Church and Jesus Christ, the head of the church,

00:24:58.220 is a good shepherd of everybody. And I think this ideology is only abusing these people with their

00:25:08.540 personal stories they have. And it's better to show the good way of conversion. Not only ecological

00:25:21.740 conversion is not needed, but a moral conversion is needed of every body. And also, I cannot understand

00:25:32.460 why Cardinal Tsen was not worthy to receive an audience, because he is a great testimony

00:25:41.820 of the Catholic faith. And especially in Hong Kong, where he is fighting for the basic human rights. And we cannot

00:25:55.260 sacrifice him only for some agreements with this dictatorial regime in China. And we cannot say China, 0.70

00:26:09.420 China. China is a country of the Chinese people. Everybody of them is created according to the image of God. And we will never accept 1.00

00:26:23.660 this interpretation, or they have another tradition, and they don't understand our

00:26:29.340 our occidental understanding of human rights. All the human rights are universal, and everybody is a person

00:26:40.620 before God. And we are accepting all these Chinese people as our brothers and sisters

00:26:50.780 of the same God of the same God and creator. And we hope that they will become our brothers and sisters in the supernatural

00:27:00.220 sense in Jesus Christ. There we are preaching to everybody the gospel. And that is my absolute

00:27:11.420 meaning and understanding. And I will say it openly, without a diplomatic to and fro. What is wrong is wrong,

00:27:23.820 and what is right is right. And I am not a Jesuit. I have not to say, if the Magistery is saying

00:27:34.860 the black page is white, that is white. No, no, white is white. And I am faithful to my eyes,

00:27:46.060 and especially I am faithful to my ears, when we are hearing the word of God. And the word of God

00:27:54.940 is a sword. It's going to both sides and separating the good and the bad.

00:28:05.260 And good is to go the way of Jesus Christ. And nobody has authority to change or to falsify

00:28:18.620 the revealed Catholic faith according to the word of God and the doctrine of the church. And

00:28:29.980 and all these people are always speaking about the Second Vatican Council. So you have to look what

00:28:38.140 Gaudium et Spes is saying to the matrimony in the chapter and the articles 2050 and following. And they can

00:28:52.380 read what is the true doctrine of the Catholic Church about the matrimony.
