00:00:00.000 The coronavirus is about to result in a worldwide lockdown.
00:00:04.260 The rapid spread of the virus is unheard of in modern history and results from Italy are
00:00:09.480 totally staggering. There are some fascinating ways in which priests are attempting to safely
00:00:14.720 distribute Holy Communion and hear confessions, and we must recognize this as a chastisement
00:00:19.960 from God. All that and more on this episode of the John Henry Weston Show. Stay tuned.
00:00:30.000 Let's begin, as we always do, with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father,
00:00:50.680 and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. For the first time in Rome in hundreds of years,
00:00:57.740 there will be no celebration of Holy Week. No Holy Thursday, no Good Friday, no Easter Sunday.
00:01:04.120 That didn't even happen during the World Wars. Not, says historian Professor Roberto de Mate,
00:01:10.660 since perhaps when Napoleon invaded Rome at the end of the 18th century. The professor told Life
00:01:16.300 Sites Dr. Micah Hickson that he supports, and I quote, restrictive health measures. He supports
00:01:22.760 these restrictive health measures because, he says, faced with the coronavirus epidemic. I believe
00:01:29.740 that the Italian line, which aims to protect people's health, is more fair than that of some
00:01:36.400 countries, such as England, which attribute primacy to the economy. Professor de Mate explained,
00:01:43.180 in fact, he rebuked Great Britain for its approach to let the illness run its course without many
00:01:48.660 restrictions so far. Boris Johnson's position seems to be based on eugenics and Darwinism,
00:01:54.420 and I'm afraid that it will bring misfortunes to his country, he said. As a side note, I'm sure many
00:02:01.220 of you would have seen the leaked briefing for the government's National Health Service published
00:02:05.800 in the Guardian newspaper yesterday. It was entitled UK coronavirus to last until spring 2021,
00:02:12.140 and could see 7.9 million hospitalized. The document says that, and I quote, as many as 80% of the
00:02:19.640 population are expected to be infected with COVID-19 in the next 12 months, and up to 15%, and that's
00:02:26.160 7.9 million people, may require hospitalization, end quote. The paper points out that with a 1% mortality
00:02:34.280 rate, that would lead to over half a million deaths this year, except the World Health Organization
00:02:41.460 has suggested a mortality rate of over three. So, there's no surprise that Professor de Mate says,
00:02:48.660 I am therefore in favor of restrictive health measures, but he also reminds us that in Italy,
00:02:54.180 it is forbidden to leave houses unless you have to go to work, to a pharmacy, or to a supermarket.
00:03:00.220 But Professor de Mate, at the same time, reminds us of the importance of our spiritual lives.
00:03:05.640 He regrets that masses are currently abolished in Italy, saying that, in my opinion,
00:03:10.420 it would be possible to authorize them with due precautions. Now, we are receiving, he says,
00:03:19.220 extra misam communion every day from a zealous priest. That is, communion outside of mass.
00:03:25.940 So, communion in the mouth, he says, cannot carry the virus if the priest disinfects his hands every time
00:03:34.560 he distributes it. So, let me explain then what they're doing in Italy right now, at least some
00:03:40.260 priests in Italy are doing. Some very ingenious ways to, they would be open to celebrating mass when
00:03:47.120 that gets allowed again, by, by the way, restricting the number of people that are allowed to come into
00:03:51.800 the church at any one time, to 50 or so, whatever the requirement that the government sets is in order
00:03:57.940 to limit the spread of the virus. Also, to just have people sit six feet apart. And also, when they
00:04:04.440 come up for holy communion, one at a time, again, six feet apart. And when the priest does administer
00:04:10.200 holy communion to the first one, he then cleanses his hands in a solution of water and alcohol before
00:04:16.220 administering communion to the next person. And so, therefore, you have a very clean, if you will,
00:04:23.740 or disinfected way of distributing holy communion. Moreover, in the U.S. and other places, there are
00:04:31.280 priests who are administering holy communion in different ways, in different kind of ingenious ways.
00:04:39.220 There are solutions proposed for outdoor masses with the churchgoers in their cars, either getting
00:04:45.120 holy communion in their cars or making spiritual holy communions from their cars, at least being able to
00:04:51.140 witness the holy sacrifice of the mass live. Some, of course, are watching their masses on TV. Some
00:04:57.020 people are live streaming masses. Some priests are doing them over radio. Also, confession in vehicles
00:05:03.700 with a good priest, a priest a good distance away. Again, three to six feet away or whatever the government
00:05:10.460 proposes its legislation. And then the priest is able still to hear, making sure people aren't in
00:05:19.120 earshot. But this can be set up back of a parking lot type of thing and having, you know, people
00:05:25.540 able to confess their sins. This is an absolute requirement when people are in need of a good
00:05:32.320 confession, especially if they're in danger of death. And the thing is, of course, we're going to
00:05:37.000 be publishing on LifeSite ways of making your spiritual holy communion a perfect act of contrition when
00:05:42.640 there's absolutely no possibility of getting to a priest. You are able to, with the intention
00:05:47.540 of making a confession, if possible, make a perfect act of contrition, which can actually also forgive
00:05:55.780 even mortal sins. Professor DeMatte stresses, we must certainly do everything to preserve our lives,
00:06:04.440 but we must also ensure the spiritual goods that we need in order to persevere in the difficult days
00:06:09.860 ahead. Practically speaking, the spiritual means are, he says, the daily holy rosary and holy communion
00:06:17.820 as frequently as possible, even extra misan that's outside the mass. But above all, we must love the
00:06:23.400 justice of God, because without justice can be no mercy, and God is infinitely merciful, because he is
00:06:29.180 infinitely right. So to understand what this, about this remark, or what this means, we must understand
00:06:35.740 the gravity of our current anti-God world. There's more sin now than in any other time in history,
00:06:41.980 and that's simply a fact. Many people actually say, oh no, there's not. There was, you know, so much sin
00:06:46.240 before, before. Ah, you know what? Nonsense. First of all, let's do a quick proof. Our Lady of Fatima came
00:06:52.280 in 1917, told the little children, more people go to hell because of sins of the flesh than for any other
00:06:58.200 reason. And yet, sins of the flesh, of course, sins of impurity, which we've explained many times, and yet
00:07:04.680 there are more people today who view porn regularly than there were people alive in 1917. So don't let
00:07:13.840 someone tell you it was worse before it wasn't. Moreover, we have the most extreme heresies of all
00:07:19.520 time, accepted by a majority of Catholics and pushed by the Pope himself. So we must also have an outlook
00:07:28.000 of joy, by the way, rather than only worry, and not to worry. We have to have the hope of eternal
00:07:34.160 salvation. The prospect of death is not terrifying. It is the only way of entrance into eternal life.
00:07:41.920 In his talk on the matter, Professor de Maté said, and I quote, it is time to multiply the calls for
00:07:47.000 conversion and repentance and to nourish the supernatural spirit of those close to us. De Maté also puts this
00:07:54.600 current crisis in the context of the message of Fatima, or Lady of Fatima, saying that this is the
00:08:01.960 moment to remember the message of Fatima because the divine punishments, which have already been
00:08:07.000 affecting the Church for many years, are making themselves visible to the whole society, end quote.
00:08:12.840 And that's perhaps, at least for me, one of the most interesting comments of all. Remember the vision
00:08:18.060 of Fatima when you see a night, and now this was the words of the vision of Fatima, when you see a night
00:08:22.700 illumined by an unknown light, know that this is a great sign given you by God, that he is about to
00:08:27.140 punish the world for its crimes by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and the
00:08:31.520 Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart
00:08:36.460 and the communion of reparation on the first Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, said Our Lady,
00:08:42.380 Russia will be converted, and there will be peace. If not, she will spread her errors throughout the
00:08:46.920 world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred. The Holy Father will have much to
00:08:52.140 suffer. Various nations will be annihilated. In the end, she said, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.
00:08:58.620 The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will
00:09:04.340 be granted to the world. But then the third part, released in 2000, stated, and I quote again,
00:09:10.580 we saw an angel with a flaming sword in his left hand. Flashing it gave out flames that looked as though
00:09:16.320 they would set the world on fire, but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady
00:09:23.020 radiated towards him from her right hand. Pointing to the earth with his right hand, the angel cried
00:09:29.800 out in a loud voice, penance, penance, penance. We saw an immense light that is God, something similar
00:09:35.880 to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it. A bishop dressed in white, with the
00:09:40.560 impression that was the Holy Father. Other bishops, priests, men and women religious going up a steep
00:09:45.400 mountain, at the top of which there was a big cross of rough hewn trunks, as of a cork tree with
00:09:51.320 the bark. Before reaching there, the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins, now pay
00:09:57.100 attention, and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the
00:10:03.420 souls of the corpses he met on his way. Now that's very interesting to note, because if we look at the
00:10:12.120 numbers of deaths that are possible in Italy with only a one, or that are possible with only one percent
00:10:19.480 of the nation of the UK, is over 500,000 deaths. Italy is actually seemingly worse right now. In the Lombardy
00:10:29.400 region, it's not a one percent morbidity, it is a 6.6 percent morbidity. We'll see what, how that plays
00:10:36.540 out, what that means. We'll probably see it in the coming weeks, but this is going to be very scary
00:10:42.220 indeed, and the prospect of having to step over corpses is very real. Professor DeMatte, nonetheless,
00:10:50.860 recalled an earlier essay on the coronavirus. In an earlier essay on the coronavirus, he recalled the
00:10:57.700 similarity of the third Fatima Visions angel with the account of the miracle of the stopping of the
00:11:03.860 bubonic plague, or Black Death, as it was known, which, if you remember, wiped out half of the population
00:11:09.440 of Europe. The angels, in fact, are, he says, the executors of divine punishments on people, as the
00:11:17.220 dramatic vision of the third secret of Fatima reminds us by calling us to repentance. The Black Death
00:11:23.620 ended with a miraculous intervention of Our Lady via an image of her painted by St. Luke the Evangelist.
00:11:31.960 As the plague ended, Pope Gregory witnessed angels singing the Regina Celi, and that's, by the way,
00:11:38.560 where we get the prayer from, the song Regina Celi, which we sing during Easter. And then he saw St.
00:11:45.780 Michael the Archangel atop what is now called Castle San Angelo, sheath, that means put back into its
00:11:51.860 a bloody sword. And that's when they knew that the plague had ended. And, of course, this seems
00:12:01.980 somewhat dire because here is another angel looking or now sheathing his sword of punishment for the
00:12:08.800 world. But despite his being in the hardest hit of nations suffering from coronavirus, Professor
00:12:16.640 DeMatte remains hopeful. He tells us to remind one another that everything that happens is, and I
00:12:22.700 quote, for the salvation of the elected and for the triumph of the church, adding that, quote, the
00:12:28.880 closer the punishment is, the closer will be the triumph of her immaculate heart, the immaculate heart of
00:12:34.700 Mary that Our Lady has promised us. The solution to all of this is that of Our Lady and Our Lady of
00:12:42.880 Fatima. It's not a battle against flesh and bud, but principalities and powers. It's waged first and
00:12:49.380 foremost in our own hearts. The formula for success is easy. It's daily mass wherever possible, the five
00:12:56.080 first Saturdays, three Hail Marys, the rosary, confession, consecration to Our Lady of ourselves
00:13:02.100 and our families, the scapular intercession of the saints and guardian angels, and never ever lose hope.
00:13:09.760 In the end, my immaculate heart will triumph, Our Lady promised. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia
00:13:17.220 to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world. In 2017,
00:13:24.780 Cardinal Raymond Burke called on the Pope to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
00:13:30.020 He said, and I quote, regarding the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I do not
00:13:34.460 doubt for a moment the intention of Pope St. John Paul II to carry out the consecration on March 25th,
00:13:41.060 1984. The servant of God, Sister Maria Lucia of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart indicated that Our Lady
00:13:48.840 had accepted it, but it is evident that the consecration was not carried out in the manner
00:13:54.280 requested by Our Lady. Recognizing the necessity of a total conversion from atheistic materialism and
00:14:01.140 communism to Christ, the call of Our Lady of Fatima to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart in
00:14:06.580 accord with her explicit instruction remains urgent, he said. For those who may still object
00:14:14.760 to calling for the consecration of Russia, Cardinal Burke recalled the words of Pope St. John Paul II
00:14:20.160 himself, who said in 1982 during his consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart, and I quote,
00:14:25.900 Mary's appeal is not for just once. Her appeal must be taken up generation after generation
00:14:32.500 in accord with the ever new signs of the times. It must be unceasingly returned to. It must ever be
00:14:40.140 taken up anew. So let's renew our own consecration to Mary this March 25th, the Feast of Her Annunciation,
00:14:49.160 where she became the living tabernacle of God, the Ark of the New Covenant, the Theotokos,
00:14:54.440 the God-bearer, or simply the Mother of God. And with that, we can say with great confidence to
00:15:02.000 the Eternal Father, behold not me, but behold the handmaid of the Lord. Let's ask again for the
00:15:08.980 consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Let's do our part to honor the Mother of Jesus
00:15:14.840 so that we might worthily honor her Son, in her, with her, and through her. For LifeSite News,
00:15:22.040 this is John Henry Weston, and may God bless you.
