Did Fatima priest Fr. Gruner predict Francis' consecration of Russia?

Summary

A former member of the Fatima team believes that the next Pope will be the one to carry out a prophecy made by Father Nicholas Grunner, who was a priest at the center of the famous pilgrimage to Fatima in 1892.

Transcript

00:00:00.280 Believe it or not, Father Nicholas Gruner, the priest of Fatima, as many knew him for many, many years,
00:00:06.320 actually predicted that the consecration of Russia by the Pope in union with the world's bishops
00:00:12.880 would actually happen by the successor to Benedict XVI.
00:00:17.420 I kid you not.
00:00:18.700 We're going to show you this video and discuss it with a former member of that Fatima team,
00:00:24.180 Kennedy Hall, that you all know from LifeSite News.
00:00:26.980 Stay tuned.
00:00:30.000 Kennedy, welcome to the John Henry Wesson Show.
00:00:50.840 Thanks for having me back.
00:00:52.940 Let's begin as we always do at the sign of the cross.
00:00:55.200 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
00:00:58.560 Amen.
00:00:59.100 Amen.
00:00:59.300 So, super fascinating.
00:01:01.660 You were part of the Fatima Center for a little while, and I want you to comment on this video.
00:01:08.360 Let's watch it first together, and then let us hear what you think.
00:01:11.900 I've been told that it would not be John Paul II who would do the consecration of Russia.
00:01:19.500 I've been told it would not be his successor, but the successor of John Paul's successor.
00:01:25.200 In other words, the successor of Benedict XVI.
00:01:26.940 So, in that sense, it's good news because we're now going to have the next pope.
00:01:31.400 The next pope will be the one to do the consecration.
00:01:33.820 I've been at this for 36 years.
00:01:35.760 It's been a long time, and I'm getting a little tired.
00:01:38.920 And so, it's very nice to know we're getting closer, that we're getting closer to the consecration.
00:01:44.720 When that takes place, we will have the consecration not of the world, but the consecration of Russia, as already specified.
00:01:51.080 When we have the consecration, we will have world peace.
00:01:53.980 And I'm sure we all could use world peace.
00:01:55.760 Also, the financial crisis and the threatening World War III, if he does it in time, will not take place.
00:02:03.380 So, Kennedy, that's just incredible.
00:02:06.300 Where did Father get this information?
00:02:09.260 This seems like total prophecy, and what do you make of it?
00:02:12.900 I have no idea.
00:02:13.820 You know, when I started working at the Fatima Center, I was there after Father Grinner had passed, God rest his soul.
00:02:18.840 And I've heard a lot of stories.
00:02:21.940 And, you know, he was steeped in the devotion to Fatima.
00:02:25.500 You know, he was the Fatima priest.
00:02:27.600 And he was also steeped in the private revelation.
00:02:31.260 It can be difficult, murky waters getting into some of that.
00:02:33.960 But he was always trying to discern what was true.
00:02:36.400 And he was talking to the insiders in Rome.
00:02:39.100 He had connections all over the place.
00:02:40.480 And I think he just sort of put it all together and said, here's what's going to happen.
00:02:45.780 There could be a backstory that I don't know.
00:02:47.880 But he made a lot of predictions that came true, especially about Pope Benedict and Francis and so forth.
00:02:53.760 And this seems like one of them.
00:02:56.220 Amazing.
00:02:56.840 Well, okay.
00:02:58.000 So, this is a really confusing time because while there's a massive hope, there's also massive consternation.
00:03:03.940 I guess that comes with everything.
00:03:05.380 But here we are in the midst of this from this pope.
00:03:08.640 And we at LifeSite News are very upfront about what this is about Pope Francis.
00:03:14.320 This is very damaging, very concerning.
00:03:16.480 He has attacked church teaching on so many issues over these last eight years.
00:03:22.280 It's been unbelievable.
00:03:23.740 And yet now we see this.
00:03:24.960 What do you make of it?
00:03:25.900 Well, he's the pope.
00:03:28.160 I mean, I know some people will say, well, actually, I'm going to back up here.
00:03:30.680 Some people aren't sure if Pope Francis is the pope.
00:03:33.040 But that doesn't, in my mind, actually change what will happen because I imagine Benedict will take place, will take part.
00:03:40.560 I believe he's the pope.
00:03:41.780 Okay.
00:03:42.000 That's just my own belief in my own opinion there.
00:03:44.600 However, I would say there are times in church history when there's been confusion about who's the pope and there have been saints who were wrong about who the pope was.
00:03:56.460 And there's also been times in church history where there's been terrible popes, just objectively speaking.
00:04:01.500 I can't remember the pope's name, but it was during the time of what was called the pornocracy, which was a time when it sounds like it was like what it sounds like.
00:04:08.340 I mean, Rome was full of prostitutes in the Vatican and it was a terrible time.
00:04:11.500 And there was a major doctrinal issue coming up and people thought that massively important church teaching, which cannot be changed, was going to be on the surface changed.
00:04:20.840 And a pope who was a derelict stopped it.
00:04:25.380 Pope Francis is not the worst pope we've ever had in history, I don't think.
00:04:28.840 I mean, maybe in some ways people will say he is.
00:04:31.100 I don't know.
00:04:31.900 But he's definitely not the best we've ever had.
00:04:34.140 And it doesn't matter.
00:04:36.460 Our lady said the pope will do this and it will happen late.
00:04:39.860 We know that the prophecy has to come true because our lady doesn't tell lies.
00:04:45.360 But at the same time, he also sits in the chair.
00:04:49.120 He is the pope.
00:04:50.220 He has a view of things.
00:04:53.180 He's got the archives.
00:04:54.460 He talks to the insiders.
00:04:55.980 There are people praying for him.
00:04:57.240 There are people fasting for him.
00:04:58.340 You know, we pray for the pope every day on the rosary.
00:05:00.000 We're just one family.
00:05:00.860 How many billions of rosaries have been prayed for this man in the last seven, eight years?
00:05:05.080 I have no idea.
00:05:06.180 But it's been billions.
00:05:06.960 Grace affects people in strange ways.
00:05:11.280 Who thought St. Paul would be knocked off his horse and become who he was?
00:05:14.140 I don't know.
00:05:15.280 These things are a mystery.
00:05:17.000 Whatever the pope's doing, whether it's because he wants to jump on the Ukraine bandwagon, I don't know.
00:05:22.500 I don't know what the reasons are.
00:05:24.220 But whatever he's doing, he's doing this and it's the pope.
00:05:26.760 And on the one hand, we should be, I see why we can be skeptical.
00:05:31.400 On the other hand, God surprises us.
00:05:34.520 The astonishing reversals in church history have been just that.
00:05:37.140 They've been astonishing reversals.
00:05:38.720 God willing, we're living through one of those right now.
00:05:41.720 Amazing.
00:05:42.300 So let's address some of these controversies because it's interesting.
00:05:45.080 You mentioned Saul and Paul and whoever thought that Saul would convert.
00:05:49.560 And it's true.
00:05:50.560 I'm going to tell a little story because this is actually very personally relevant.
00:05:53.700 And I'm not saying that I'm a prophet or anything else, but just, and I've heard similar people with similar stories to this.
00:06:00.900 In fact, Charles Morton, the filmmaker who was doing the film on Fatima and met with Sister Lucy and interviewed her spiritual director,
00:06:10.100 for whom we're doing a life thunder, by the way.
00:06:11.600 And I encourage you to watch our show together.
00:06:13.520 Fascinating stuff.
00:06:14.460 But he too had kind of an inner revelation about Francis.
00:06:18.540 And my story about Francis is very simple.
00:06:20.940 There was a mother superior I knew of great order whose bishop, who was very, very good,
00:06:27.040 had done the right thing in terms of a self-evaluation if he indeed had covered up for sexual abuse unintentionally.
00:06:35.760 But he brought upon himself an investigation.
00:06:38.820 And of course, that investigation showed, yep, there was some things that he could have done better.
00:06:43.360 And for this, though, he was asked to leave by Pope Francis, which was absolutely horrendous, totally uncalled for.
00:06:48.340 He was better than almost all of, if not all of, the U.S. bishops anyway.
00:06:53.300 But nonetheless, this happened the day that the bishop was taken out.
00:06:56.400 I called the mother superior, whom I knew, and I said, I'm so sorry that you've lost your spiritual father.
00:07:01.760 And, you know, give her my condolences.
00:07:03.660 And I was walking to mass at the time.
00:07:05.460 And I just knowing what Pope Francis had done and had been doing and very terrible things in terms of both threatening church teaching,
00:07:16.160 really taking a hacksaw to the root of the church's tradition in canceling these traditional orders.
00:07:21.680 It was just horrific.
00:07:24.260 And I had a sort of inner thought of, boy, you know, he's just like Saul persecuting the church.
00:07:29.920 And I really pray that he has that conversion that's so needed.
00:07:34.440 And he'll fall off that horse and turn around and become, like Saul did, a great apostle of zeal,
00:07:42.200 much more so than others, because he was so zealous in his persecution of Christians that, you know, that he became this apostle of such great zeal as well.
00:07:53.120 And it was very much the same thought with Francis.
00:07:55.600 He is, unlike most popes, so zealous for what he wants.
00:08:00.460 What he wants is the other side, actually, horrifically.
00:08:03.260 It's been the liberal approach to the church, what many think is a heretical approach of modernism in the church.
00:08:12.480 But he's pursued it zealously, so much more zealously than most would,
00:08:16.260 because he basically seems to have no concern what others are going to think about what he does.
00:08:20.060 He just does it anyway.
00:08:21.420 So if that could be turned around to the truth, and literally, you imagine what could have been done, you know,
00:08:30.160 what needs to be done is, hey, all you bishops who are against the traditional teaching of the church,
00:08:37.240 smarten up right now, or you're right, you're gone.
00:08:39.620 That kind of thing, you could see him doing with that same zeal, but he's doing it on the other side right now.
00:08:44.080 So imagine a turnaround.
00:08:45.860 Well, I get to Mass, and I kid you not, the story told in the reading at Mass is the conversion of St. Paul.
00:08:53.220 And I was floored a little bit thinking, well, I was given some hopefully grace in being hopeful for Pope Francis.
00:09:00.940 And that's why we've called for the conversion of Pope Francis after Bishop Schneider instructed us to do so and did so himself publicly.
00:09:08.980 And we've been praying at LifeSite for that every day.
00:09:12.580 A beautiful thing it would be.
00:09:13.800 And let's go forward like little children and accept that this is what's being done.
00:09:17.900 In fact, when it was first called out that this is coming, we were like stunned.
00:09:22.160 Two main questions.
00:09:23.180 One, is it being done in union with all the bishops of the world, like Our Lady asked for?
00:09:27.500 And two, you know, is the mentioning of Russia and Ukraine together okay, or is that going to cause a problem?
00:09:38.320 I'm going to let you address one of those now, the union with all the bishops of the world.
00:09:44.400 You know, what did you make of that when it first broke and what was your reaction?
00:09:50.560 Yeah, so when it first broke, I was actually, I went to a Holy Name Society meeting that night at my chapel.
00:09:56.460 And so I talked to one of my priests, a very good priest.
00:09:59.080 And I, and you know, at that point it had not been announced that it would be in union with all the bishops.
00:10:05.280 However, I had the idea.
00:10:06.420 I thought, you know, this Ukraine thing, I mean, it's everybody has the Ukrainian flag in their bio on social media and things.
00:10:11.800 Like this is the issue du jour.
00:10:13.200 However, it's actually cool to pray for the Ukraine, even if you're a leftist.
00:10:19.380 So I thought there might just be some, and maybe that's why God's choosing this time, because this idea that you're going to pray for Russia and Ukraine.
00:10:26.660 That's something that even people who are non-religious, they'll probably support as some sort of virtue signal, let's be honest.
00:10:32.480 So I thought, you know, I imagine, I said to my priest, I said, you know, Father, I think a lot of bishops are going to do this.
00:10:39.420 Just because, you know, every day bishops offer mass, and every day they pray for the Pope, I mean, I would imagine so.
00:10:48.780 There's been no stipulation.
00:10:53.380 I mean, if you look back at the actual text between the exchanges between Sister Lucy and Our Lady and things like that, it says to pray for the Pope with the bishops at the same time for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
00:11:03.660 But it's not as if there was some sort of missile that was put forth, and it was something with rubrics, okay?
00:11:10.000 So I asked my priest, and I said, what would constitute being in union with the Pope on this?
00:11:14.840 I said, would it be enough if they, you know, in their hearts basically said, I also consecrate that nation, and I'm going to offer my intentions for the Holy Father's consecration at mass?
00:11:27.800 And we said, you know, it might be enough.
00:11:29.700 I mean, again, it just says the Pope in union with the bishops.
00:11:34.440 And at the same time, that could be interpreted as same day, you know, because let's, you know, let's be honest.
00:11:41.060 Let's say, you know, you're a bishop, and you intend to do it at 5 p.m. Rome time, and you're in Tokyo, so it's 2 in the morning or whatever it is, and for some reason your car breaks down on the way to the cathedral.
00:11:51.280 I don't know.
00:11:51.880 I mean, if you get there at 2.30 your time, and you have the intention, does that nullify it?
00:11:56.320 I mean, that wouldn't fit the way we look at Catholic theology.
00:11:58.620 Intention, real intention is very important.
00:12:01.540 So we both agreed that, you know what?
00:12:03.660 If the bishops want to do it on the same day, and they all want to say, intend to do the same thing the Holy Father does, that would probably suffice in a similar way with ecumenical councils.
00:12:12.500 It's never the case, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's the case, maybe when the church was very small, but since then, not so, that every single bishop on earth actually attends every session of a council.
00:12:24.000 Even at the Second Vatican Council, many of them were not there for various reasons.
00:12:28.540 But why do we say that a council happens, the bishops of the world with the pope?
00:12:32.640 Because there's what's called a moral majority.
00:12:34.600 It represents the body of bishops, and those who aren't present give their assent as being part of this body of Catholic bishops.
00:12:40.040 The same thing could also be true about what's happening with this.
00:12:43.940 Now, since the few days ago, when we weren't sure what was going to happen, we now see that Pope Francis has put out a publication, and he published this on LifeSite, or the Rome, I should say, put it out, that they're inviting all the bishops to do it.
00:12:55.480 I also just got a message from Matt Gasper, his mutual friend, and he said the Filipino bishops have put out their intentions on their own to do it anyway, and they're all saying they're going to be doing it at 5 p.m. Rome time.
00:13:06.640 So what it actually looks like at this point, it's not just going to be something where we're hoping they'll join, but where the pope is inviting them.
00:13:13.540 And the last thing I'll say before I stop rambling too much is, you know, this is the age of blind obedience, which is not good.
00:13:20.320 This is why we have so many issues in the church.
00:13:21.800 But the thing is, the bishops of the world love to be on Pope Francis' good side, to a fault.
00:13:27.540 Pope Francis is doing something, and for them, it looks real good if they jump right on it.
00:13:31.660 So maybe, you know, with this combination of the Ukraine virtue signaling, plus disobedience in the church, you know, these sorts of things, it might just be a fruitful time for exactly what Our Lady asked for to happen.
00:13:42.180 Amazing, amazing.
00:13:43.260 And then one question about the Ukraine and Russia being mentioned together, not Russia alone, I know a lot of people thought there was some problem with that.
00:13:50.840 But Bishop Schneider, I think, has answered that question.
00:13:52.880 If you go to LifeSite News right now, you'll see the answer.
00:13:55.220 And that is that, you know, at the time that the consecration was asked for, Ukraine was part of Russia anyway.
00:14:01.400 So there's no problem there with that.
00:14:05.780 So let's be hopeful.
00:14:07.500 Let's be thankful.
00:14:08.320 Let's really, like little children, go forward.
00:14:11.240 You know, if there's some big problem, God only knows.
00:14:15.380 He'll reveal that to us.
00:14:16.480 But what we're trying to do is answer the request of Our Lady.
00:14:19.460 And we see that now.
00:14:21.100 I think Heaven's brought it forward as truly needed, as something we're all hopeful for.
00:14:27.180 And especially for Catholics who have been, have a childlike faith.
00:14:30.760 I think the promise for Our Lady that the world will be given a period of peace will know that because a period of peace will be real peace.
00:14:41.340 Our Lady's not going to promise a period of peace in the world that still has 50 million unborn children killed every year, every year around the world.
00:14:50.400 So let's pray for this.
00:14:52.240 Let's do it.
00:14:52.720 Thank you, Kennedy, for joining us on this episode.
00:14:54.860 Thank you.
00:14:55.340 Let's hope this happens.
00:14:57.040 Amen and amen.
00:14:58.320 God bless you all.
00:15:00.080 And we'll see you next time on The John Henry Weston Show.
