The John-Henry Westen Show - Pope Francis backs pro-LGBT 'Nun of the Trans,' causing confusion

00:00:00.000 Pope Francis has shocked the world by praising a nun who promotes Catholic acceptance of cross-dressing, sex change operations, and homosexual relationships.

00:00:09.500 These issues are tough, and it's complicated by the fact that this nun is actually doing some very good things in helping people out of dire poverty.

00:00:18.260 We're going to unpack all of that and more about Pope Francis' controversial actions relating to transgenderism in this episode of the John Henry Weston Show.

00:00:26.760 Stay tuned.

00:00:30.000 Before we begin, I wanted to tell you that LifeSite has launched an internship which will give you great opportunity to learn on the inside what we're doing and how we do it and participate in this great mission.

00:00:58.640 If you want to check it out, please do so at lifesitenews.com slash internship.

00:01:03.940 Let's begin, as we always do, with the sign of the cross.

00:01:06.740 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

00:01:12.180 LifeSite reporter Doug Mainwaring reported last week on Pope Francis' praise for Argentinian sister Monica Astorga Cremona, known locally in Argentina as the Nun of the Trans.

00:01:24.040 Pope Francis' praise came in light of the Nun opening a new complex of twelve small apartments dedicated solely to housing men claiming to be women and their sexual partners.

00:01:36.320 In his communication with Sister Cremona, the Pope referred to her transgender clients as, quote-unquote, girls.

00:01:44.500 Dear Monica, God who did not go to the seminary or study theology will repay you abundantly, said the Pope.

00:01:52.540 I pray for you and your girls, end quote.

00:01:55.580 It's not the first time Pope Francis has shown a stance opposite what the Catholic Church traditionally teaches about the rejection of one's God-given sexual identity.

00:02:07.480 On October 2nd, 2016, Pope Francis referred to a woman who underwent a sex change operation as a man.

00:02:16.020 He referred to her having married another woman and admitted to inviting them to the Vatican in 2015, describing the couple as happy.

00:02:26.120 And clarifying his use of pronouns, the Pope said that he, that was her, but is he.

00:02:31.540 As with most of his controversial remarks, the statements came during an in-flight press scrum.

00:02:39.040 On October 2nd, 2016, on his return flight from his papal visit to Georgia and Azerbaijan,

00:02:45.360 the Pope referred to a woman who, quote, felt like a man, but, quote, was physically a young woman, end quote.

00:02:53.180 After a sex change surgery, in sometime between her 20s and 40, Pope Francis said, he got married.

00:03:02.480 And also he said, quote, he wrote me a letter saying that for him, it would be a consolation to come see me with his wife.

00:03:11.760 The Pope also said, quote, I received them and they were very happy.

00:03:15.660 And you can add to that the fact that the Pope has openly promoted one of the biggest promoters of homosexuality and transgenderism in the Catholic Church in America, Father James Martin. 0.54

00:03:29.160 The Pope named Father Martin to the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.

00:03:34.100 The Pope had Martin speak at the Vatican's World Meeting of Families and also met with him personally in an audience,

00:03:40.740 the photos of which were used by Father Martin to attest to the Pope supporting his agenda,

00:03:46.780 which has garnered opposition from several U.S. bishops.

00:03:51.180 The issues surrounding transgenderism are complex and today more so as society is pushing hard on this agenda

00:04:00.260 and fiercely claiming that those who question it in any way are purveyors of hatred.

00:04:06.320 We have gone so far as to criminalize, at least in some states and nations,

00:04:12.440 psychological help for those wishing to normalize their sexual desires.

00:04:17.340 The Catholic Church's teaching on the matter of sexuality are, however, very clear, and they cannot change.

00:04:24.440 The teaching was actually succinctly summarized last year in a document by various high-ranking prelates,

00:04:30.480 including Cardinal Raymond Burke and Bishop Athanasius Schneider,

00:04:34.560 called the Declaration of Truths.

00:04:37.520 The document said it is a rebellion and grave sin for a man to, quote,

00:04:42.740 attempt to become a woman, end quote. 1.00

00:04:45.640 It said the male and female sexes, man and woman, are biological realities created by the wise will of God.

00:04:53.000 It is therefore a rebellion against natural and divine law and a grave sin that a man may attempt to become a woman 1.00

00:05:01.180 by mutilating himself or even by simply declaring himself to be such,

00:05:06.240 or that a woman may in like manner attempt to become a man or to hold the civil authority,

00:05:13.140 has the duty or right to act as if such things were or may be possible and legitimate.

00:05:19.820 So those are quotes again from the Declaration of Truths by Cardinal Burke, Bishop Schneider, and other high-ranking prelates.

00:05:29.100 In the year 2000, the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith issued confidential guidance to bishops,

00:05:35.380 noting that sex change procedures do not alter a person's gender.

00:05:39.840 The document instructed bishops never to alter the sex listed in the parish baptismal records

00:05:45.600 and said that Catholics who have undergone sex change procedures are not eligible to marry

00:05:51.080 because, in the eyes of the Church, they would be marrying someone of the same sex.

00:05:58.060 The Church's traditional stance on sexual teaching,

00:06:01.560 while it is characterized by the secular world as unfeeling, even cruel,

00:06:07.180 in actual fact speaks to the reality of human sexuality

00:06:10.660 and is truly the only loving and caring stance.

00:06:14.660 The falsehood of supporting lifestyles which lead to physical, mental, and spiritual harm

00:06:19.880 may seem caring on the surface,

00:06:21.840 but in reality they deprive individuals afflicted with sexual dysfunction

00:06:26.760 the care and the help they need and deserve.

00:06:30.360 The best spokesmen for the truth on these difficult issues

00:06:33.700 are actually those who have gone through sex change operations

00:06:37.620 and have testified to the devastation that has resulted.

00:06:42.840 Walt Heyer is a man who lived as a woman for eight years.

00:06:46.680 He mutilated himself, actually, to appear as a woman.

00:06:51.240 His testimony must be heard

00:06:53.640 as it encapsulates the reality of sex change

00:06:57.500 and the harm of affirmation of the rejection of one's God-given sex.

00:07:03.440 Affirming children into a cross-gender identity is child abuse. 1.00

00:07:10.060 Let's be honest.

00:07:12.320 It's not physical abuse, but it's psychological abuse.

00:07:17.660 It's emotional abuse, and it's sexual abuse. 1.00

00:07:21.360 We cannot kid ourselves any longer,

00:07:24.800 and our children are being destroyed.

00:07:27.960 I, myself, was cross-dressed at the age of four,

00:07:33.940 1944, 74 years ago.

00:07:38.920 And as a result of that, I became gender distressed

00:07:43.880 to the point to where I underwent gender reassignment surgery

00:07:48.580 after struggling because of being cross-dressed

00:07:52.440 in a purple dress at the age of four.

00:07:55.500 Those, we cannot ignore how devastating it is

00:08:01.700 to young people to cross-dress them and affirm them.

00:08:06.860 Do not kid yourselves.

00:08:09.340 I'm here as a witness to this,

00:08:11.940 that I'm still today stand before you

00:08:15.440 with a mutilated body and a life that was destroyed

00:08:19.300 in many ways, redeemed by Christ, certainly,

00:08:23.900 but destroyed because I was affirmed

00:08:26.840 and told how cute I looked, how wonderful it was,

00:08:30.660 and went to a gender therapist who said,

00:08:33.340 all you need to do is have hormones and reassignment surgery. 0.99

00:08:38.040 That was in 1981.

00:08:39.640 I underwent the surgery in 1983

00:08:42.700 because they said this is the treatment

00:08:45.520 for gender confusion.

00:08:47.740 Wrong.

00:08:48.860 It's destructive.

00:08:50.500 It's not treatment.

00:08:52.180 It's further abuse.

00:08:54.240 This is the physical abuse.

00:08:56.300 Cutting off body parts

00:08:57.740 and filling someone with hormones

00:09:00.380 is one of the most destructive things you can do,

00:09:04.520 and it's not repairable.

00:09:05.840 There's things that cannot be restored.

00:09:10.120 I'm here as a witness to tell you

00:09:11.980 we have to stop this nonsense.

00:09:14.580 There are many testimonies

00:09:16.700 from those who have gone down the road

00:09:18.520 of so-called gender transition

00:09:20.200 and warn of its devastation

00:09:22.100 and the saving power of Christ

00:09:24.380 who was able to deliver them

00:09:26.180 from the harmful and sinful lifestyle.

00:09:29.740 My mom refused to call me Jake.

00:09:32.260 She never gave in to that.

00:09:33.680 She never used male pronouns,

00:09:34.740 and I hated her at the time for it.

00:09:36.700 I was so angry,

00:09:37.560 and I would demand that she would call me Jake,

00:09:39.080 but the truth was

00:09:41.220 her not calling me Jake

00:09:42.620 was like a tethered reality to me.

00:09:44.620 I never forgot who I was,

00:09:46.360 and in the end,

00:09:47.520 when Jesus Christ came into my life

00:09:49.500 and he radically set me free

00:09:51.220 and he began to pull me out of that lifestyle

00:09:53.480 and show me the deception that I had been in,

00:09:55.960 and he began to set me free of that,

00:09:57.680 and I was so thankful

00:09:58.540 that my mother never gave up on me.

00:10:00.920 She never gave in to the lie,

00:10:02.160 and she was like an anchor in the ground,

00:10:05.120 always standing firm on the truth,

00:10:07.580 and ultimately she's the one that led me to Christ,

00:10:10.480 and she was there for me

00:10:11.960 when I was ready to come home,

00:10:13.320 and I left that entire lifestyle.

00:10:15.040 I walked away from the identity,

00:10:16.440 my job, my partner,

00:10:17.620 everything to follow Christ,

00:10:18.860 and he's just radically set me free of all of it.

00:10:21.080 I have no desire to go back.

00:10:22.920 But even though the church's teaching

00:10:25.040 is clear on the matter,

00:10:26.420 the confusion being caused by Sister Cremona,

00:10:30.520 Father James Martin,

00:10:31.680 and even the Pope himself

00:10:32.960 is very grave indeed.

00:10:36.060 Added to that,

00:10:37.140 there is the societal pressure,

00:10:38.960 even in the form of laws

00:10:40.220 that are crushing Catholics 1.00

00:10:41.620 and all who would adhere to morality

00:10:44.080 on these very issues.

00:10:46.140 These issues are complex,

00:10:48.020 and in the case of Sister Cremona,

00:10:50.220 they are exacerbated by the fact

00:10:52.080 that she is rescuing these individuals

00:10:54.300 from sometimes dire poverty

00:10:56.160 and giving them clean living quarters.

00:10:59.780 Oh, what a joy it would be

00:11:01.440 if Sister Cremona did that like a Mother Teresa 0.98

00:11:04.660 without validating these people's sexual sin.

00:11:09.000 It can clearly be seen

00:11:10.740 that she is affirming these poor people

00:11:13.600 in their sexual sin 0.91

00:11:14.940 because she's permitting these men 0.82

00:11:16.840 dressed as and sometimes mutilating their bodies

00:11:19.740 to look like women 0.99

00:11:20.680 to live in these apartments

00:11:23.060 with their same-sex partners.

00:11:26.360 Moreover, Sister Cremona

00:11:27.840 has promoted LGBT so-called rights

00:11:30.760 and gay pride marches.

00:11:32.860 She could have helped these poor people

00:11:35.120 out of poverty

00:11:36.080 while offering them the Christian truth

00:11:38.620 about God-given sexuality.

00:11:41.640 Now, sure,

00:11:42.760 that would be a harder path.

00:11:45.040 Probably society would not celebrate

00:11:47.060 her work as it is now

00:11:48.920 if she were to do it that way,

00:11:50.980 but it would be the way of Christ.

00:11:52.920 It would minister to these poor people,

00:11:55.420 body and soul,

00:11:56.900 giving them help both in this world

00:11:58.920 and in the next.

00:12:02.020 If you want a good picture

00:12:03.640 of the new and false church

00:12:06.360 that is being promoted

00:12:07.560 knowingly or unknowingly

00:12:09.320 by Pope Francis,

00:12:11.120 Sister Cremona is a good place to look.

00:12:14.460 There is a distortion of the Catholic faith 0.83

00:12:16.600 happening to such an extent

00:12:18.240 that the faith is becoming unrecognizable.

00:12:21.960 There is a famous transgender activist

00:12:24.720 and comedian in Argentina

00:12:26.900 with whom Sister Cremona

00:12:28.720 has associated with

00:12:30.380 this biological man

00:12:33.060 who claims to be a woman

00:12:34.260 calls himself Lizzie Tagliani.

00:12:37.580 And in a video

00:12:38.780 in which he acts

00:12:40.040 as an on-location reporter

00:12:41.780 for a TV show,

00:12:43.020 he walks around

00:12:44.140 an outdoor Catholic celebration

00:12:46.040 where he speaks

00:12:47.120 with several people in the crowd,

00:12:49.080 eventually speaking also

00:12:50.420 with an extraordinary minister

00:12:52.080 of Holy Communion

00:12:52.800 who is actually distributing

00:12:54.380 Holy Communion in the crowd.

00:12:56.860 The transvestite Tagliani 0.99

00:12:58.880 asks the extraordinary minister

00:13:01.300 of Holy Communion

00:13:02.040 if he can receive

00:13:03.140 even though he may have sinned,

00:13:06.120 and she gives him communion.

00:13:08.360 There is commotion in the studio

00:13:10.300 as this comes as a surprise,

00:13:11.980 and Tagliani says jokingly,

00:13:14.080 well, if I melt,

00:13:14.960 I know why,

00:13:15.600 because I received communion

00:13:16.600 while being in sin.

00:13:18.340 After the laughter

00:13:19.280 in the studio dies down,

00:13:20.700 the host says,

00:13:21.460 anyway, the Pope says

00:13:22.940 to cause trouble,

00:13:24.540 to which Tagliani responds,

00:13:26.560 of course,

00:13:27.140 I just made a mess,

00:13:28.900 just like Pope Francis

00:13:30.000 said we should.

00:13:32.440 The situation in the church

00:13:34.080 is dire.

00:13:35.520 We seem to arrive

00:13:36.520 at the times prophesied

00:13:37.960 in Holy Scripture

00:13:38.620 when even the elect

00:13:39.800 will be confused.

00:13:41.940 And here's where I want

00:13:43.240 to ask you

00:13:43.920 to join me in a plea

00:13:45.440 to all of our faithful

00:13:47.180 bishops and cardinals

00:13:48.520 to speak out

00:13:50.120 and to defend the faith

00:13:51.580 which is being corrupted

00:13:52.740 by the Pope himself.

00:13:55.440 Yes,

00:13:56.420 these times are hard,

00:13:58.120 and yes,

00:13:58.740 it is a difficult stance

00:14:00.820 to take

00:14:01.340 for these bishops

00:14:02.660 and cardinals

00:14:03.240 who need to speak out

00:14:04.800 to the Pope himself.

00:14:06.620 But in fact,

00:14:08.040 they're called

00:14:08.680 to defend the faith.

00:14:10.900 In fact,

00:14:11.520 it was the very apostle

00:14:12.880 who was the first one

00:14:14.380 to publicly confront

00:14:16.220 the first Pope,

00:14:17.300 St. Peter,

00:14:17.880 on his error.

00:14:19.840 He said this

00:14:20.800 to Bishop Timothy,

00:14:22.460 and it is a charge,

00:14:23.940 I believe,

00:14:24.720 to all of the current

00:14:26.260 bishops

00:14:26.860 and cardinals

00:14:28.160 who are still faithful

00:14:29.560 to the one true

00:14:30.940 holy Catholic

00:14:31.740 and apostolic faith.

00:14:33.760 St. Paul said this

00:14:35.420 to Bishop Timothy,

00:14:36.620 I charge you

00:14:38.860 in the presence of God

00:14:40.100 and of Jesus Christ

00:14:41.960 who is to judge

00:14:42.760 the living and the dead

00:14:43.820 by his appearing

00:14:45.360 and his kingdom,

00:14:47.580 preach the word,

00:14:48.500 be ready in season

00:14:50.020 and out of season,

00:14:51.040 reprove,

00:14:52.000 rebuke,

00:14:52.660 and exhort

00:14:53.500 with complete patience

00:14:55.360 and teaching.

00:14:56.680 For the time is coming

00:14:57.960 when people will not

00:14:59.020 endure sound teaching,

00:15:00.540 but having itching ears

00:15:01.960 they will accumulate

00:15:02.800 for themselves teachers

00:15:04.100 to suit their own passions.

00:15:05.940 and will turn away

00:15:07.560 from listening to the truth

00:15:09.060 and wander off

00:15:10.460 into myths.

00:15:12.380 As for you,

00:15:13.560 always be sober-minded,

00:15:15.180 endure suffering,

00:15:16.440 do the work

00:15:17.120 of an evangelist,

00:15:18.680 fulfill your ministry.

00:15:20.920 And that's the plea

00:15:23.640 we all make

00:15:24.960 to the good bishops

00:15:26.240 and cardinals

00:15:26.920 who are still willing

00:15:27.900 to defend the faith

00:15:29.500 for Christ,

00:15:30.760 for his church,

00:15:31.620 and indeed

00:15:32.260 for our own children

00:15:33.320 who are being deceived

00:15:34.620 and confused

00:15:35.380 in this time

00:15:36.460 of great error

00:15:37.620 and confusion

00:15:38.340 coming from

00:15:39.460 the Pope himself.

00:15:41.740 For LifeSite News,

00:15:42.900 this is John Henry Weston.

00:15:44.500 May God bless you.

00:15:45.300 You're welcome.

00:15:46.640 For LifeSite News,

00:16:00.360 you're welcome.

00:16:00.800 Listen to it.

00:16:05.880 Bye-bye.
