You know, my friends, after seeing the damage that Pope Francis did to the faith of Charlie
00:00:08.000
Kirk, to his willingness to become a Catholic, I've got to return to something that's really
00:00:13.720
important that I didn't get a chance to address fully, and I'm going to fully address it now.
00:00:18.240
Let's think back to Father James Martin at the Vatican, sitting across a desk to Leo the 14th,
00:00:25.060
both smiling at each other, announced in the Daily Vatican Bulletin with photos at Vatican
00:00:35.080
A new president of the Pontifical Academy for Fine Arts was curated in exhibitions of seriously
00:00:41.800
disturbing homoerotic art, including one infamous picture of a nude man urinating on the head
00:00:49.600
Sister Lucia Karam, hardcore pro-homosexualist and pro-abortion advocate, having a less public
00:00:57.920
meeting with Leo, but still with Vatican media photographs of Karam clutching Leo's arm.
00:01:05.080
A homosexualist pilgrimage being welcomed to the Vatican for the Jubilee year, with a listing
00:01:11.320
on the Jubilee website, and a mass said and celebrated at the Jesuit Church in Rome, complete
00:01:17.160
with rainbow cross and attendees wearing shirts saying, F the rules, but they didn't stop
00:01:24.260
There's a rainbow over Leo the 14th's Vatican, and it's not the sign of God's covenant with
00:01:32.080
Leo himself is signaling that he is indeed what many were calling him from day one.
00:01:42.100
The most repeated phrase in scripture is, Do not be afraid.
00:01:47.360
We are called to speak the truth, to proclaim the gospel, and to live our lives without fear.
00:01:53.720
For the past three years, we've brought this mission to the very heart of the Church.
00:01:58.880
At the Rome Life Forum, you won't just hear truth proclaimed, you'll have the chance to ask
00:02:06.780
This is your opportunity to engage, to challenge, and to go deeper into the battles we face today.
00:02:19.040
Let's begin as we always do, with the sign of the cross.
00:02:22.520
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
00:02:29.360
LGBT Pride Month usually takes place in June, but it seems it's been going on for a long time.
00:02:37.520
I just told you some of the crazy stuff that Leo XIV is permitting and promoting over there
00:02:48.620
And that's not to mention other travesties like one of Leo XIV's first Episcopal appointees
00:02:56.820
giving his full backing to an LGBT Mass in San Diego.
00:03:03.600
They've been told to sit tight and put their trust in Pope Leo XIV, who we were promised
00:03:19.960
But it's very clear that the moves he's taken soon after his election were because he wasn't
00:03:29.760
People have been hanging on to this sort of promise of hope until now.
00:03:39.380
But as disturbing as it is to see a pilgrimage of homosexual activists be welcomed into the
00:03:45.540
Jesu or into the Vatican St. Peter Basilica itself, or to see a new president for the Pontifical
00:03:51.600
Academy, who has curated exhibitions of homoerotic art billed as referring to sadomasochism and fetishism
00:04:00.480
and art which celebrates the 1970s porn cinemas.
00:04:04.240
I think the real thing that broke the illusion was Leo XIV's private audience and official Vatican
00:04:20.580
Here's what Father Martin said about the meeting.
00:04:24.880
I was profoundly grateful for my audience at the Apostolic Palace with the Holy Father this
00:04:32.780
The message I received was that Pope Leo will be continuing with the same openness that
00:04:55.300
One, just how bad Martin's record of LGBTQ advocacy really is, including even blasphemy,
00:05:05.520
But two, the scandal caused by Leo XIV, which is not lessened by some of the excuses that people
00:05:13.880
And it's actually aggravated by this sort of orgy of homosexual adjacent moves coming
00:05:24.000
I'm going to explain both parts of this to you.
00:05:31.920
So just to recap, unless you've been living under a rock for the last decade, you know all
00:05:38.900
about James Martin, SJ, but there's just so much that we can't help but forget bits and
00:05:48.820
So to see why this is such a scandal, let's recap on some of what makes him so special.
00:05:56.280
Martin is a Jesuit priest known for his fervent promotion of LGBTQ among Catholics.
00:06:05.140
As Taylor Marshall told me recently, he is the best known promoter of the transgender
00:06:17.460
Under Francis, it's not exaggeration to say that he was one of the highest profile priests
00:06:24.920
Francis actually wrote a preface to Martin's pro-LGBTQ book, which linked the raising of a
00:06:31.920
Lazarus with homosexuals coming out and embracing who they are.
00:06:37.040
Just imagine having the Roman pontiff, the vicar of Christ on earth, writing a preface for
00:06:44.000
You would have to be one heck of a guy to win such an accolade.
00:06:48.500
In that preface, by the way, Francis claimed that he knew and liked other writings from James
00:06:59.560
And Father Martin was a frequent visitor to the Francis Vatican.
00:07:03.980
There were many photos of him and Francis grinning at each other over the papal desk.
00:07:09.780
James Martin, SJ, was given important roles in the Synod on Synodality.
00:07:15.160
He was assigned to a working group on LGBTQ issues.
00:07:19.540
In the lead-up to that event, he hosted an off-the-record event, which married gay Catholics
00:07:31.500
So, now, of course, they are all included or entitled to inclusion, but just like all
00:07:40.320
the rest of us, they can only be included on Christ's terms.
00:07:45.640
A thief or a robber is entitled to full inclusion, but he must give up his sins.
00:07:58.900
Just as Christ said to the woman caught in adultery, sin no more.
00:08:04.340
There's just so much to say about Martin's pro-LGBTQ record, but let's keep going.
00:08:10.700
He advanced that awful 70s cliché, which claimed that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah, the reason
00:08:17.340
why those cities were destroyed, was a lack of hospitality and failure to welcome migrants.
00:08:32.680
The teaching of the Church in her ordinary and universal magisterium, which is infallible,
00:08:42.020
And yet, last year, Fr. James Martin claimed that homosexual relations are, and I quote,
00:08:48.320
integral to the meaning of the Church as the people of God, end quote.
00:08:53.100
Notice that he capitalizes people of God, but there's not the Church.
00:09:00.080
It, I don't know, it really does defy description.
00:09:04.100
Well, Martin also claimed that the Church, or people of God, if you like, would be, and
00:09:09.580
I quote, immeasurably poorer, he said this, without gay priests.
00:09:22.240
they've celebrated masses for you, baptized your children, heard your confessions, visited
00:09:28.260
you in hospitals, presided at your weddings, and buried your parents, end quote.
00:09:34.160
Well, even the modern Vatican has ruled, again and again, that men with the deepest homosexual
00:09:41.420
inclinations should not be ordained to the priesthood.
00:09:50.040
Martin manages to introduce a bit of blasphemy into the equation as well.
00:09:54.540
In June of 2023, he claimed that June was the month of the Sacred Heart for Catholics,
00:10:11.520
The other shows us whom Jesus calls us to love today, end quote.
00:10:16.520
This wasn't his first example of homoblasphemy, by the way.
00:10:21.880
Only a month or so before, he compared reading LGBTQ books to kids with our Lord Jesus Christ's
00:10:31.360
parables, comparing those who live homosexual lifestyles with the Good Samaritan, for example.
00:10:38.560
Following the release of Fiducia Supplicans, Martin went out of his way to perform supposedly
00:10:49.360
He did them, and the media was invited at the same time.
00:10:54.560
He was, in fact, to perform a public blessing of this kind in December of 2023, publishing
00:11:02.980
Many have tried to claim that Fiducia Supplicans was about blessing individuals, as if that
00:11:09.920
But Martin makes it clear that he is blessing these homosexual couples as couples, as, by
00:11:16.240
the way, Fiducia Supplicans says in the translations that are not English.
00:11:22.640
Last year, James Martin commissioned a piece of art by another priest for an LGBTQ outreach
00:11:34.020
The painting depicts Francis washing the feet of a denim-wearing Christ surrounded by outcasts,
00:11:43.980
So I wonder what he thinks of Christina Perella, the new president of the Pontifical Academy
00:11:50.380
Would Father James Martin agree that the disgusting homo-fetish art is, as Christina said, poetic,
00:12:09.940
And I would say Father James Martin is proud of it.
00:12:13.600
But I want to pause and address some of the arguments presented by people who are trying
00:12:22.920
So private audiences don't mean anything they say.
00:12:27.720
So first, we're told that all sorts of people request private audiences.
00:12:34.920
They just, you know, you can just go in and request a meeting with the Pope.
00:12:37.540
As with the inclusion of the homo pilgrimage on the Jubilee website, an audience doesn't
00:12:49.320
But you know, just like we said with the Jubilee website, it does imply something.
00:12:55.260
Leo isn't going to be accepting requests for private audiences from the likes of me or you,
00:13:02.340
He isn't going to be accepting them from a white nationalist or the International Wife-Beating
00:13:12.280
Society or the American Nazi Party or the late Hugh Hefner, a pornographer.
00:13:23.420
And clearly who he does receive is different to those who he doesn't receive.
00:13:29.940
I already made a video about the LGBTQ pilgrimage, and that showed that while inclusion might
00:13:40.420
And that something is what they're saying is at least acceptable, even if it isn't positively
00:13:48.640
So saying that meetings don't mean anything is simply an excuse.
00:13:59.760
There's the duty that we all have to profess the faith.
00:14:03.880
There's the people who are saying that we shouldn't believe what Martin says.
00:14:08.020
After all, they say, if Martin is such a terrible villain, surely he's lying about what Leo said
00:14:18.200
Perhaps Leo was actually calling Martin to repentance and to stop promoting LGBTQ activities
00:14:28.200
Well, there's an easy way to see whether this is true or not.
00:14:33.560
And it's the same as when Francis used to have that old atheist journalist come and do
00:14:43.240
Anyway, the atheist Scalfery would come out of those interviews with Francis and claim
00:14:50.640
The way to know whether James Martin is lying is that the Vatican will explicitly disavow what
00:15:02.140
If it doesn't do that, then we should rightly presume Leo and his Vatican are approving his
00:15:09.540
presentation, that is, James Martin's presentation, of the meeting.
00:15:14.600
You know, Pope Leo XIII, Pope Leo XIV's heir, namesake, if you will, quoted Pope Felix III in
00:15:34.200
He who does not oppose an evident crime is open to the suspicion of secret complicity.
00:15:44.120
Look, if somebody was saying of you on the internet and millions of people saw it, that
00:15:50.520
you denied a dogma of the faith, like the virgin birth of our Lord, so what would you do?
00:15:58.720
Well, the church actually teaches that you have a responsibility to profess the faith openly
00:16:03.720
whenever our silence or evasiveness would imply denial of the faith, contempt for religion,
00:16:13.320
So you would have a duty to correct the record if someone slandered you that way publicly on
00:16:21.720
Well, going back to Francis, that's precisely what he did not do with scolfery.
00:16:29.200
He, in fact, did the opposite and invited that atheist back for further interviews again
00:16:37.660
The silence alone implied consent, but such a repeated line of action says only one thing.
00:16:46.500
So if a celebrity priest is so dramatically misrepresenting what Pope Leo XIV said to him,
00:16:56.220
Pope Leo has a duty to set the record straight and take appropriate action.
00:17:04.400
While it's been a long time now, there's no clarification.
00:17:08.840
I think the appropriate action for Pope Leo to take would be laicization and excommunication
00:17:16.920
of James Martin and a profession of his own belief.
00:17:21.580
That's Pope Leo's belief in the truth on the very issues that James Martin goes off on.
00:17:37.020
My bet is that he isn't going to take appropriate action and he isn't going to set the record
00:17:42.940
straight because we've already waited, I think, for way too much time.
00:17:48.300
Once again, saying we don't know what was said or perhaps Martin misunderstood is just
00:17:57.720
We do know what was said because actions speak louder than words, both in terms of the Martin
00:18:04.520
interview itself and in terms of the bewildering set of pro-homosexual decisions going on in
00:18:12.620
Is there anything more powerful perhaps than this?
00:18:16.980
So then we hear about the comparison with Jesus.
00:18:23.080
Jesus met with sinners, they say, and it was the Pharisees that condemned him for doing so.
00:18:34.940
We're all sinners, obviously, but we're not objecting to actions that our Lord himself did
00:18:42.840
and clearly intended as a lesson for his church.
00:18:46.540
But this is either a really cynical argument or very naive.
00:18:51.800
The location might have changed from Casa Santa Marta to the Apostolic Palace, but it's business
00:19:00.100
It's reasonable for us to think that because of the burden of proof is on Leo himself to
00:19:05.140
break with the precedent, contradict Martin, and proclaim the gospel clearly.
00:19:10.500
It's not reasonable for us to imagine that Leo is breaking with France's precedent because we have
00:19:22.100
Why would we believe something without any evidence for it?
00:19:26.200
It's also wishful thinking, which might make some people feel good.
00:19:30.540
But, as I just said, it puts souls at risk because everybody else understands the message loud and
00:19:38.880
And even in the unlikely event that it was true, it's still gravely scandalous.
00:19:44.860
A pope is a public figure concerned with the common good, and for him to be hypothetically sacrificing
00:19:52.400
the common good by causing grave doctrinal scandal for the sake of a private good, of Martin's
00:20:05.320
And then the comparison with Jesus totally fails.
00:20:12.160
There was no ambiguity about Christ's elevated moral teaching and the need to convert and
00:20:19.980
Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect, Jesus said.
00:20:23.440
He, therefore, that shall break one of the least of these commandments, and so shall teach
00:20:27.460
men, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven.
00:20:29.860
And nobody engaged in public sin ever came away from Jesus being able to say, oh, he told
00:20:43.700
There was no prostitute who visited him and said, I'm open for business.
00:20:48.560
Unfortunately, there has been nothing like that doctrinal or moral clarity from Pope Leo
00:21:00.900
Even the stronger moments over the Francis pontificate have had nothing like the previous
00:21:11.380
In the church of our grandparents, this would not have been possible in the first place.
00:21:17.480
There's no way a priest could be advocating homosexual and transgender lifestyles in the way
00:21:24.060
But those who did advocate doctrinal errors, even of a more subtle way, they were warned,
00:21:33.220
disciplined, excommunicated, and ultimately laicized.
00:21:36.700
Let me give you an example of the French priest, Alfred Loisy, one of the leading modernists.
00:21:43.160
In 1903, the Archbishop of Paris urged Pope St. Pius X to have Loisy and his books scrutinized
00:21:53.400
So the books were censured a couple of years later.
00:21:57.600
The following year, Loisy, that's Father Loisy, made respectful noises while maintaining his
00:22:05.440
Rome issued further professions for Loisy to make, which he refused.
00:22:10.180
And then Rome took swift doctrinal action with a syllabus of errors and the great encyclical
00:22:17.180
Paschendi, along with the anti-modernist oath imposed on many of the clergy at multiple stages
00:22:24.320
in their careers, and the establishment of the Sodalitium Pianum, which was responsible for
00:22:32.860
doctrinal vigilance on a grassroots level throughout the world.
00:22:36.260
Father Loisy kept going, and then was excommunicated publicly in 1908.
00:22:54.260
Because preserving the integrity of Catholic doctrine in the souls of the little ones takes
00:22:59.520
precedence over the alleged rights of conscience of heretics and modernists, or the need to
00:23:12.420
If the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet so that the people are
00:23:18.240
not warned, and the sword comes and takes any of them, his blood I will require at the watchman's
00:23:28.760
It's also, in a sense, how Francis acted with Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, when he was saying
00:23:37.440
There are also very many priests across the world currently facing canonical trials for saying the
00:23:45.940
So the power and the will to suppress and excommunicate is definitely there, just not for those who
00:23:54.140
advocate sodomy, transgender, and other trendy causes.
00:23:58.640
As such, to grant a private audience to Father James Martin to pose for smiley photos with him and to allow
00:24:07.320
him to claim that Pope Leo told him he'd be continuing with the same openness that Francis showed to
00:24:13.820
LGBTQ Catholics. To leave that uncorrected, on the record, and Martin undisciplined, still in good standing, is a
00:24:23.720
complete scandal. And we are justified in believing Martin's report of it.
00:24:28.980
Do you know what? I think that these sorts of really flimsy arguments show two things of those making them.
00:24:36.820
The first is a need to preserve one's positive view of Leo XIV at all costs. And the other is that people are not
00:24:45.100
shocked about sodomy anymore. Not even many of us Catholics. And I'm afraid that I now need to give you a trigger
00:24:54.600
warning because we need to talk about exactly why homosexual activity is contrary to the moral law. And this is not for
00:25:02.280
little ears. And I'm not even happy for my own ears to hear this stuff. But so that we don't get banned, by the way,
00:25:08.680
if you're watching this on YouTube, I'm going to have to direct you to LifeSiteNews.com for the rest of this video.
00:25:15.960
So, what is sodomy? Ready? Let's go back to the basics. Sexual activity is ordered toward the procreation of
00:25:25.440
children. That's why it's only legitimate in the context of marriage. The permit union of man
00:25:32.260
man and a woman. And this union, like the sexual activity permitted within marriage, is again ordered
00:25:39.920
toward the procreation of children, as well as their upbringing in a safe, stable environment. And this is
00:25:47.440
why sexual activity outside of marriage is contrary to the natural moral law. It's also why it makes no
00:25:53.680
sense to say that two people of the same sex can marry each other. But there's more. The human
00:26:00.280
reproductive organs are designed for, guess what? Reproduction. For them to be used for the sake of
00:26:08.700
sexual pleasure with a person of the same sex is to pervert their very purpose and can cause very
00:26:17.420
significant health problems. After all, just as the reproductive organs are for reproduction and not
00:26:24.580
mere sexual pleasure, so too the digestive system is for digestion. And that bodily system, especially
00:26:32.680
the latter part of it, if you get my meaning, is really complex. It's crucial for the well-being of
00:26:39.840
the whole body and it's very easily damaged, you might say. It's easy to cause trauma to the latter part of
00:26:47.280
the digestive system. A 2021 survey of men who have regular receptive sex with other men found that 12.7 of
00:26:58.960
them suffered from fecal incontinence. That's not being able to hold your stuff together without the
00:27:06.580
use of a diaper. And in the previous month, that is, they've suffered that. And so imagine having to deal
00:27:14.360
with that issue with having diapers and the aroma, which comes from that. These are not happy things
00:27:22.380
we're wishing on people, we're encouraging in people. It might explain the proliferation of adult
00:27:29.060
diapers in supermarkets in years, recent years, by the way, but that's another story.
00:27:35.020
So incontinence is one thing, but that's to say nothing of the sexually transmitted diseases
00:27:40.580
and even intestinal parasites. Why are we doing this? Why are we promoting this?
00:27:48.920
These harms to people. These things are caused by homosexual activity itself and by the subculture of
00:27:56.420
unprotected, if you pardon the word, and very promiscuous sexual activity. This, the grave misuse of
00:28:04.680
such an important part of human life, our body parts, and the harm caused by all this, and not
00:28:11.220
hatred and bigotry, that demonstrates why homosexual activity is gravely contrary to the moral law.
00:28:18.420
In other words, it's a sin. And in fact, the natural order, reproduction, marriage, and so on,
00:28:25.920
are so important to the moral law in society that the Bible, drawing on the destruction of Sodom and
00:28:31.280
Gomorrah, actually refers to sodomy as one of the four sins that cry out to heaven for vengeance.
00:28:37.320
That's why St. Paul said to the Romans, also expressing the consequences of such activity,
00:28:43.860
the men also leaving the natural use of women have burned in their lusts one toward another,
00:28:51.400
men with men working that which is filthy and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due
00:28:57.320
to their error, end quote. One of the many punishments for this activity, St. Paul says,
00:29:03.260
is being, and I quote, delivered up to a reprobate sense. That is, blinding themselves to spiritual
00:29:11.160
realities and to truth in general, and falling further and further into more errors and sins
00:29:17.380
until they ultimately die. Often at an earlier date than for other people, by the way. St. Peter Damon,
00:29:24.020
the 11th century monk who wrote extensively on the spread of sodomy among the clergy,
00:29:31.620
Certainly this vice, which surpasses the savagery of all other vices, is to be compared to no other.
00:29:40.520
For this vice is the death of bodies, the destruction of souls, pollutes the flesh, extinguishes the light
00:29:48.500
of the intellect, expels the Holy Spirit from the temple of the human heart, introduces the diabolical
00:29:54.300
inciter of lust, throws into confusion, and removes the truth completely from the deceived mind.
00:30:00.940
He goes on at great length. Is all this and the temporal effects, such as disease, mental illness,
00:30:08.540
bowel incontinence, reduced life expectancy, and so on, are these outcomes that you'd want for yourself
00:30:14.620
or your son or your brother or your enemy? How about even your worst enemy?
00:30:20.420
Now recall what Father James Martin said in his Sacred Heart tweet. He said that the Sacred Heart
00:30:28.880
shows us how Jesus loves, and Pride Month shows us whom Jesus calls us to love today.
00:30:35.860
Huh, what a cliche. Martin and everyone else want to make out of love requires affirmation of a lifestyle,
00:30:43.680
that if we don't affirm the lifestyle choices of so-called LGBTQ people, then we aren't loving them.
00:30:50.720
And that in fact, we condemn their lifestyle choices, then we're hating them.
00:30:57.280
That's actually the opposite of the truth. There can be no love without truth. And when someone is
00:31:04.300
going in a direction that's going to end in their destruction, there's no love in staying silent
00:31:10.960
and letting them destroy themselves, if we can do something about it.
00:31:15.920
Whatever you wish that others should do to you, said the Lord Jesus, by the way, do for them.
00:31:26.800
Father James Martin is advocating for lifestyles that destroy both the soul in eternity and even the
00:31:32.200
body in this life. And Leo XIV is having smiling private audiences with this Judas priest,
00:31:40.200
whose teaching is encouraging precious souls from whom Christ died to embrace debauchery and sexual
00:31:46.180
sin, while welcoming pilgrimages based around celebrating this filthy vice, promoting those
00:31:53.140
who curate this art, and appointing bishops who offer masses themed around this.
00:32:00.660
So you're right. We're going to call this out. Pope Felix said, and I quote,
00:32:07.080
An error which is not resisted is approved. A truth which is not defended is suppressed.
00:32:15.180
He who does not oppose an evident crime is open to the suspicion of secret complicity.
00:32:20.520
If we weren't calling it out, or we were defending Leo's failure to call it out,
00:32:27.260
we at LifeSite News would be part of the problem. And we don't want to be part of the problem.
00:32:32.300
Benefit of the doubt is over. It's a nightmare scenario. But it's the very nightmare scenario
00:32:40.280
I warned of at the time of the conclave. The day before the conclave, on the 7th of May,
00:32:45.680
I gave an interview to Glenn Beck, and I told him that if the cardinals elected a moderate,
00:32:51.380
a conservative who might be less bombastic, use a bit more Latin and wear a bit more red silk and
00:32:57.540
talk about our Lord more, but otherwise maintain the status quo, if a man like that, I said,
00:33:03.140
was elected, then it would lull many to sleep while solidifying the advances. You can't really
00:33:13.240
call them advances, but the direction of Francis's reign. Around the same time, Taylor Marshall said
00:33:21.600
the same thing. Three days before the election, he made a video describing a cardinal who he described
00:33:27.760
as a, quote, middle-of-the-road candidate or a compromise. And he said, maybe not as radical
00:33:33.580
and in-your-face as Pope Francis, or as Bergoglio. So this is where he's dangerous, Taylor said,
00:33:42.140
describing him as the worst case scenario on the Francis trajectory and the scariest dark horse,
00:33:48.640
for the same reasons that I just said. So which cardinal was he talking about? You guessed it,
00:33:55.340
none other than Robert Francis Prevost himself, who was indeed elected Pope Leo XIV. So look around us.
00:34:04.240
What I and what Taylor and what others all warned about has come to pass. But if anyone could be
00:34:11.760
forgiven for giving Leo the benefit of the doubt, we need to be really clear, that benefit of the doubt
00:34:19.880
period, it's got to be over now. When people show you who they are, you need to believe them. Before
00:34:28.200
the conclave, Cardinal Prevost showed us that he was a loyal son of Francis. And now, Leo XIV has shown
00:34:36.600
us that he is faithfully continuing his legacy. And scandals like this are going to be sending people
00:34:44.840
to hell. Pope Leo is indeed shaping up to be a Francis 2.0. As much as I hate to say it,
00:34:57.140
that's the reality. For LifeSite News and Sign of the Cross Media, I'm John Henry Weston. May God bless you.
