00:00:00.000 Hi everyone, this is John Henry Weston for LifeSite News.
00:00:03.060 I wanted to just give you an update again on my daughter Mary Catherine and her progress
00:00:07.860 to thank you for your prayers and actually share with you some very good news.
00:00:12.200 Stay tuned.
00:00:30.880 Let's begin as we always do with the sign of the cross.
00:00:33.640 In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
00:00:38.480 Amen.
00:00:40.060 I have some really neat news to share with you.
00:00:43.520 My daughter Mary Catherine, as if you might have heard, the progression was really quite
00:00:49.100 serious.
00:00:49.420 We had a very bad diagnosis of Hashimoto's encephalitis.
00:00:56.700 She went to hospital basically paralyzed.
00:00:59.440 We almost lost her on the way in the ambulance because of breathing problems.
00:01:04.040 She had to be resuscitated and so on.
00:01:06.440 And so that was what we were presented with in hospital.
00:01:10.340 There were first a 13-day stay in hospital where there were many episodes and a lot of
00:01:17.560 different testing, just sometimes very scary, and a lot of paralysis, basically an inability
00:01:24.960 to move.
00:01:26.220 And we had some movement, but in the upper limbs and so on.
00:01:30.760 That was followed by a release from hospital and then a few days of return to hospital after
00:01:39.600 repeated seizures.
00:01:41.440 In fact, the seizures started to get so bad that my wife just couldn't take it anymore.
00:01:47.200 Went back into emergency once again, back by ambulance to the hospital.
00:01:51.600 And so things were pretty rough for a while.
00:01:56.040 But I have to tell you, your outpouring of prayers, I got contacted literally by thousands
00:02:02.020 of people.
00:02:03.280 And there was an outpouring of prayer like nothing else.
00:02:06.460 There were priests from different parts of the world who celebrated masses for Mary
00:02:11.480 Catherine, promises of prayers, even from some bishops.
00:02:14.900 And also, it was very touching, the school that Mary Catherine attended.
00:02:21.920 I had to pull her from it, unfortunately, because of what was going on.
00:02:25.660 But the school, Our Lady's Seat of Wisdom College in Canada, they had done a day of fasting
00:02:33.280 for Mary and prayer together as well.
00:02:38.260 And I heard many, many of the students joined in that and professors as well.
00:02:42.560 Very touching, all of this support and prayer.
00:02:47.520 It's a beautiful thing.
00:02:50.480 And it's been very fruitful.
00:02:52.980 Mary, after having been rushed to hospital last week, because of the seizures, four and
00:03:02.660 five in a day sometimes, very, very concerned.
00:03:06.960 She was in hospital.
00:03:08.080 She witnessed the, or the doctors witnessed the seizures.
00:03:12.340 They had her videotaped and on EEG machines to see what was going on.
00:03:15.880 And believe it or not, she was released from hospital seven days ago now.
00:03:24.240 And as of yesterday, we have six days with no seizure at all.
00:03:31.840 So that is, for us, a miraculous thing.
00:03:36.360 I want to also give you an update on her mobility.
00:03:40.720 So, you know, we're, physiotherapy right now consists of trying to get up and,
00:03:45.880 and, and walk.
00:03:46.900 And so, um, on Saturday, uh, Mary Catherine for the first time went to mass and, uh, she
00:03:54.920 went to mass and, um, we didn't realize it that much, but when you're sitting in a chair
00:03:59.640 or in a pew, you're actually using your legs quite a bit to balance, I guess, and things
00:04:04.040 like that.
00:04:04.520 I know things we don't think of, but, um, she was pretty exhausted after that and, uh,
00:04:10.600 unable to walk back to the car.
00:04:12.100 So we got a few fellows and we carried her back to the car.
00:04:14.520 Um, on Sunday, the next day, uh, we were a little bit more cautious.
00:04:20.120 She, she remained in the car for mass listening on the, on the radio, but, uh, was able to
00:04:25.160 come in for Holy Communion, make it all the way up and all the way back, and then, uh, sit
00:04:29.180 down and talk to some friends.
00:04:30.260 She's totally overjoyed to be back sort of in the community as it were, and, uh, back
00:04:36.540 with her friends.
00:04:37.100 And she's got a little message that she wanted to share with you personally of thanks.
00:04:43.180 Here she is now.
00:04:46.700 Thank you so much, everyone, for praying for me.
00:04:48.960 Really helped through this journey, and I will be sure to keep all of you in my purse.
00:04:53.560 Once again, thank you so much for your prayers.
00:04:59.640 Mary Catherine is praying for all of you who are praying for her, and what a beautiful community
00:05:05.780 of love and support we have in this brotherhood of Christ.
00:05:10.920 And so let's keep one another in prayer.
00:05:14.800 Um, miracles do happen, and in the midst of this world, which is always going to be full
00:05:21.680 of suffering and different challenges that we have to face, we can be there for one another.
00:05:29.160 We can extend not only, um, you know, uh, our, our smiles and our prayers for one another,
00:05:37.640 but, uh, there have been a lot of amazing people who have, uh, made meals for the family and
00:05:43.860 done things to reach out and help out.
00:05:46.200 And, uh, it's an awesome community.
00:05:48.700 We've got to keep that up.
00:05:49.760 Not only when we're in the midst of absolute insanity, but it's so good because you really
00:05:53.900 know who your friends are when you're down.
00:05:56.460 Thank you, LifeSite family, and all of you who've been praying for us.
00:06:00.940 May God bless you.
00:06:02.400 I'm John Henry Weston.
