00:00:00.000 The same thing with exorcisms. Sometimes, just because I didn't want to leave these people
00:00:05.520 without shepherds, I did a small exorcism on certain people. And in this case, you see,
00:00:10.760 I am empowered to do special things which I didn't have before I was a priest.
00:00:17.120 Hey, my friends, do you remember when I was in Switzerland for the consecration of those
00:00:23.580 SSPX bishops? I told this story because it was a moving one. I had heard a story a long time ago
00:00:29.760 of my colleague at LifeSite News, Dr. Micah Hickson. She told me once about this priest,
00:00:35.720 this society priest who drove over two hours to get to her dying grandfather. It was
00:00:43.200 something really moving because, you know, she couldn't find anybody close by and he was dying,
00:00:50.800 so she was getting desperate. So she kept calling further and further afield. When she reached this
00:00:55.980 priest, who I'm going to introduce to you in a second, Father Conrad Heisegems. He was in Holland,
00:01:01.540 by the way, and he was supposed to drive a couple hours to all the way to the sort of part of
00:01:06.360 Germany, Holland, where they're sort of together. She's sort of thinking, oh, there's no way he's
00:01:10.200 so far away. He left immediately. He was like ready to do it. And I wanted to give you that
00:01:17.980 conversation with him so that you can hear his side of the story, which is really amazing.
00:01:25.980 In addition to that, I had an interview with Timothy Gordon over the idea of men and women
00:01:35.540 and the whole traditional view from the catechism of the Catholic Church around the duties of a
00:01:43.420 husband and wife. And for a lot of people that didn't sit well, because while the teaching was
00:01:47.720 given, the traditional teaching, which is good, right, and unquestionable, the question came up
00:01:52.740 of, you know, how fathers are supposed to join with their wives in terms of care of the children,
00:02:01.920 even of the little children, even in changing diapers. And this traditional priest,
00:02:07.840 while upholding the traditional teaching perfectly, both in his belief and his counsel,
00:02:15.040 has a very different perspective from the one we already heard. And you're going to be
00:02:21.080 interested to learn it. Stay tuned for this interview with Father Heisegems.
00:02:25.320 Father Heisegems, welcome to the program. Thank you very much for inviting me, dear John Henry.
00:02:30.020 Let's begin, as you always do, with the side of the cross, if you could lead us, Father.
00:02:33.460 In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen. Amen. So, Father, I was just
00:02:39.580 wondering if you could tell that beautiful story when I was in Switzerland, actually before I was
00:02:44.160 in Switzerland, I heard this incredible story from Micah about a priest who did this incredible
00:02:50.380 thing when she looked for priests all around when her dad was dying um none to be found and she
00:02:56.680 would call further and further afield and by the end of it she was getting desperate because it was
00:03:00.820 so far away um and uh then she happened upon yourself and uh you you went and it was so
00:03:09.140 touching to her moved her so much moved her dad um i just thought it was so touching and uh then
00:03:16.120 when I had the great grace to meet you in Switzerland, you described how it was a grace
00:03:20.420 for yourself, which just made it even more stunning to me. Would you take us through what
00:03:26.160 happened from your end? We have to move back like in, I think, 2005 something. I was made
00:03:32.900 responsible for teaching in a boys school, which I did with great pleasure. And next to it, I was
00:03:40.200 responsible for a mission we call it a chapel in the northwest of germany it was the only chapel
00:03:47.440 in the northwest of germany offering the traditional mass and rites my area i was responsible for was
00:03:54.300 quite enormous i mean like for european standards and all of a sudden i get a phone call like someone
00:04:02.260 was looking for um the last sacraments for a holy unction and so on um but the person was not
00:04:09.280 catholic yet had been catholic before by the way um in the byzantine right is a serb person from
00:04:17.180 a serbian and i said okay we've learned in the seminary a list of priorities priority number one
00:04:27.080 usually are the dying just before starting holy mass for example you have to do your mass
00:04:32.200 and certainly the Sunday Mass.
00:04:34.280 In other cases, you run.
00:04:37.580 Hey, my friends.
00:04:38.700 I just heard about a great Catholic mobile phone company
00:04:41.540 that gives 100% of its profits
00:04:43.840 to traditional Catholic religious orders.
00:04:46.960 Monasteries and Catholic media,
00:04:48.940 and no, I'm not joking,
00:04:50.340 they support traditional Catholic priests and religious.
00:04:54.760 Do you even know that every time you make a call,
00:04:57.460 send a text, or use mobile data,
00:04:59.680 your provider earns revenue. Have you ever thought about where that money goes? Many companies
00:05:06.640 support causes that conflict with traditional Catholic values, but now there's a traditional
00:05:13.140 Catholic alternative. It's called iCatholic Mobile. With iCatholic Mobile, you'll get
00:05:19.380 dependable nationwide 5G talk, text, and data service on America's largest network. You'll get
00:05:26.720 also personalized customer support, and you can keep your current phone number. So make the switch
00:05:32.080 today. Call 802-988-6588 or visit iCatholicMobile.com. May God bless you. I replied like I was
00:05:43.040 being formed in the seminary. Okay, where does he live? How far is it? Okay, this is my area.
00:05:53.460 It was eastern Frisia, which is now a part of northwestern Germany.
00:05:59.120 It was quite far away from where I was.
00:06:01.680 It was in another Bundesland, to call it, in Germany, which is a state.
00:06:07.680 And I had to travel like 200 kilometers, but I said, okay, it's my region.
00:06:12.700 And I was very lucky not to have any urgent obligations at the very moment.
00:06:18.800 So that was what I called providence.
00:06:20.340 so I went there
00:06:22.440 and I heard the good man
00:06:24.680 it was her grandfather
00:06:26.880 by the way
00:06:27.540 the man was old
00:06:30.540 dying, sweet
00:06:32.720 but had changed religion
00:06:34.620 because in the region there's no
00:06:36.780 Byzantine liturgy for a long time
00:06:39.220 and let alone
00:06:41.160 Catholic Byzantine
00:06:42.420 and he had become part of
00:06:45.260 a Protestant group
00:06:46.720 that was very active in the region
00:06:48.680 and I came to him
00:06:50.800 and I was sitting next to his bed
00:06:52.720 and I told him I'm a Catholic priest
00:06:54.660 and that's the reason why I'm here
00:06:56.760 and those people talked to me
00:06:59.040 that were his granddaughter
00:07:00.880 which you know and his daughter
00:07:02.940 and
00:07:04.740 explained to him look
00:07:06.400 how many churches do you think Jesus found it
00:07:09.180 just one
00:07:10.540 do you want to be a member of that church
00:07:13.440 of course I do
00:07:14.500 and then I went further
00:07:17.180 do you know what the word catholic means fitting for everyone and the all people all time
00:07:26.860 and you know who's the founder of the catholic church since when it started says no said it
00:07:33.580 started with jesus the word catholic meaning this church and its teachings was already used in the
00:07:42.300 the year 103 by St. Polycope of Smyrna, and that means it was all in place at the time.
00:07:51.240 So anything that comes later can't be Christ's church. And Jesus, being on earth, God-man on
00:07:57.540 earth, has given strengthening means for people in your situation. Would you want to receive those?
00:08:06.840 he said yes to both
00:08:09.720 questions
00:08:10.660 and normally
00:08:12.920 if someone wants to convert
00:08:14.800 you teach the whole catechism for one
00:08:17.640 year and a half
00:08:18.400 and then if he's still willing and he's practicing
00:08:21.560 because we have to test him too
00:08:22.860 is he putting effort into it or not
00:08:25.120 you baptize him or you take him into
00:08:27.620 the catholic church during a ceremony
00:08:29.700 in which he swears allegiance
00:08:31.600 to the true faith
00:08:32.520 but in this case you speed up because the man
00:08:35.740 dying. So he became Catholic
00:08:37.740 in the moment. He received
00:08:39.840 all sacraments you give
00:08:41.240 to people in
00:08:42.740 danger of dying.
00:08:45.640 And afterwards, I went away with a
00:08:47.580 beautiful feeling.
00:08:49.500 It was my first convert, by the way.
00:08:51.600 I had lots of them afterwards.
00:08:53.540 There was a new priest at the time.
00:08:55.540 I was very happy.
00:08:57.380 And I told his daughter what had happened.
00:08:59.580 And she was cheering along, of course.
00:09:02.780 And later on,
00:09:03.580 the granddaughter, which is your colleague,
00:09:05.180 uh the same thing um for me it was exceptional in so far it was my first conversion that i had
00:09:13.520 to um lead as a priest but for the rest of the procedure wasn't that um exceptional because
00:09:22.960 all the priests in the society of simply as a tenth do those kinds of things but being the
00:09:30.280 first time in such a situation with a non-Catholic person becoming Catholic was, of course, very 0.81
00:09:36.640 exceptional and, for me, giving me a very beautiful feeling. I often go away from giving people 0.96
00:09:45.460 lost rights in a jubilation mood, if I may say so. But he's dying. No, he's dying in Jesus' arms.
00:09:56.000 He's landing in the correct place.
00:09:59.080 Some people lose speech just after they have confessed, but just in time.
00:10:05.420 I've seen those miracles, let's say, happen.
00:10:07.840 People that haven't practiced for a long time, and then in this moment, they open up, and every grace flows in.
00:10:16.220 How do you feel as a priest afterwards?
00:10:18.200 I mean, like in heaven yourself?
00:10:20.940 Happens quite often.
00:10:22.400 Also, I've had another case.
00:10:24.480 it was i think the only other case that um a human being dying was not catholic and i had
00:10:31.080 to come to the deathbed happened in the hague uh there's some zealous souls that smell when someone
00:10:39.200 is in danger of dying and might convert and they call me and you go in so i went into this
00:10:48.540 particular lady was 101 years old oh my goodness but looking very good if i had to to
00:10:56.860 tell how old she was i would have said like more than 70 but probably not too much over 80 but
00:11:04.860 she was 100 and this lady had an uncle which was catholic and she always loved to listen to him
00:11:11.620 and what happened in the catholic church but she never converted and then told the same story to
00:11:17.740 her as i did to this particular serb grandpa in east frisia and she said please go ahead
00:11:27.140 um i've always thought it might be the truth i believe it let's let's do it and she lived on
00:11:35.240 for two years after this to my surprise she became more healthy after this the giving of
00:11:41.880 sacrament which by the way i have experienced quite a lot because that's one of the possible
00:11:48.200 things in the holy unction either it helps to put the step into the next life in the best possible
00:11:55.800 fashion or you heal and i've seen these healings happen more than often for example there's a man
00:12:04.760 from uganda with uh his at the time he had three little children a wife and three children and i
00:12:13.400 was called to his bed because he was about to die i think it was still in his 40s or perhaps already
00:12:20.440 in his 50s and the lady was weeping like i'm being left alone with three little children how will i
00:12:28.040 manage it's okay jesus will take care of you whatever but we'll give you sacraments and just
00:12:34.520 after he jumps about again uh later on just a few weeks later i heard she is expecting she's with
00:12:44.600 child just with child was it were triplets no triplets and afterwards they still had two more
00:12:52.920 uh little girls wow and he he has no sign of being in in danger of life so i've seen those things in
00:13:01.800 another case just before that one of our faithful is a young man he's in a security firm and his
00:13:08.440 mom goes to mars his father doesn't because he was sick ill and i was called to his uh bed like
00:13:15.240 he won't live long anymore and his legs have to be amputated that's certain i gave him the sacrament
00:13:21.880 and afterwards he wanted to thank me
00:13:24.880 he still has his legs
00:13:26.560 that's not my work 0.98
00:13:29.940 but I see it happen as a priest
00:13:31.640 the same thing with exorcisms
00:13:35.460 sometimes just because I didn't want to leave these people
00:13:39.620 without shepherds
00:13:41.540 I did a small exorcism on certain people
00:13:44.520 and in this case you see
00:13:46.880 I am empowered to do special things
00:13:51.720 which I didn't have before I was a priest, like the trouble disappears,
00:13:57.960 or you see demons manifesting or whatever, being scared, by the way,
00:14:03.180 of St. Joseph in one particular case.
00:14:06.880 So those are the things where in your ministry as a priest,
00:14:11.340 you all of a sudden discover, like, I know I'm ordained, but now I see it,
00:14:17.140 from the very effects of what your ministry implies.
00:14:21.220 So when you think back to that day in your early, early priesthood, when you went, I guess it probably didn't occur to you, all of what went into them getting to you in the first place, call after call to many, many priests around, everybody refusing.
00:14:37.640 Do you remember that call, what time of day it was?
00:14:41.460 It was the afternoon.
00:14:43.980 And you drove about 200 kilometers, so it took you, what, a couple hours at least?
00:14:49.560 Two hours.
00:14:50.140 like a bit less in germany because you can speed just as much as you like but uh we were restrained
00:14:57.840 by uh or um superiors like 140 per hour that's enough okay trying to stick to that to that the
00:15:05.500 distance is still long but um it's not like in countries where you can just drive like 100 per
00:15:12.160 hour but anyway i got there within two hours and went back and i went in again i think upon his
00:15:21.240 funeral all right no i'm not sure not upon i was back there again later on talking to his wife
00:15:28.740 his widow let's say which was a very young woman younger than his granddaughter and
00:15:36.100 And trying to tell her what had happened, and maybe she too could be invited to the church, the original one.
00:15:47.760 She didn't follow through on that, however.
00:15:51.220 But I remained in touch every now and then with the man's daughter and granddaughter.
00:15:59.080 So every now and then.
00:16:00.380 Now, Father, I have a kind of a difficult question.
00:16:03.300 So one of the things that I'm sure you deal with very often, particularly in the society, because that's where the traditional faith is still practiced.
00:16:14.420 And we have in the old catechism, in the Roman catechism, this teaching on the duties of a husband and a wife.
00:16:25.480 And it's very challenging.
00:16:26.820 I had a show with Timothy Gordon recently, and we went through that teaching, but he came away with a different conclusion than I lived in my own life and that many people do, because there is this thing.
00:16:44.860 yes it is true the traditional teaching actually maybe you can just explain it to us briefly what
00:16:50.760 the traditional teaching is with regard to a husband and a wife uh in in marriage if you could
00:16:55.940 sum it up for us we can take the encyclical of pious the 11th uh which is casticonubi
00:17:01.540 and the short answer is the man is the head the woman is the heart
00:17:07.580 and the man is the head but can't treat her like a child a subject in that um fashion
00:17:15.960 um and the degree of being subject varies he says according to the circumstances of culture
00:17:25.820 and of what the man does and does not for example if there's no husband anymore it's very simple
00:17:32.380 she's the head of the family. If he's not able, she takes over. If he doesn't want to,
00:17:38.480 a thing that's very crucial, she has to do it. And for the rest, you can look into scripture,
00:17:45.440 Ephesians 5, or in one of St. Peter's letters, I think in 1 Peter. I think it's 5. 1 Peter 5.
00:17:53.800 Let's first take Ephesians. The woman should be subject to her husband, but, dear husband, 0.99
00:18:00.160 you have to lay down your life for her 0.96
00:18:03.100 because she inherits the same promises
00:18:06.980 we inherit
00:18:08.060 and I think the last thing comes from Peter's letter
00:18:12.480 so they are like
00:18:14.740 equal in value
00:18:16.360 but not equal in the roles they have
00:18:19.220 and for the rest
00:18:22.660 the Holy Scripture doesn't detail much
00:18:26.240 but I've seen
00:18:29.420 how much strength it gives to the children
00:18:33.500 when both parents are one in the faith
00:18:37.100 and when both respect one another.
00:18:45.840 And where the truth is, there is God.
00:18:49.140 The world is basically going the way of the church
00:18:53.380 and vice versa. Everyone who's being named a bishop
00:18:57.060 is being named because he's a nice guy.
00:19:00.500 Does he have the Catholic faith?
00:19:01.980 Well, that's not really important.
00:19:03.280 He's nice.
00:19:04.260 I started studying the early church
00:19:05.840 and I realized, wow,
00:19:08.280 the church was all centered around the Eucharist.
00:19:11.240 God has sent again the Blessed Virgin Mary
00:19:14.180 to ask us through an imploring and loving voice
00:19:17.520 to convert while there is still time.
00:19:20.560 St. Peter the Apostle on the first Pentecost Sunday
00:19:23.060 to tell these pious Jews who came to Jerusalem
00:19:26.540 in pilgrimage, that they need to come into the church and be baptized.
00:19:30.960 And the faithful were crying out,
00:19:32.340 blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord.
00:19:35.680 Peace in heaven and glory in the highest.
00:19:38.020 So the Pharisees complained, tell them to shut up.
00:19:41.140 And Jesus said in reply, I tell you, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out.
00:19:46.400 In other words, the truth will never be silenced.
00:19:49.400 And my friends, we're inviting you to Fatima, Portugal,
00:19:51.980 the greatest place of prophecy since Christ himself walked the earth.
00:19:55.620 Beginning November 11th, there will be a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage that combines some of the best Catholic prophecy speakers
00:20:03.300 with a chance to walk in the footsteps of the shepherd children in the land that Our Lady graced over a hundred years ago.
00:20:11.100 Her messages are being fulfilled in our time, so we hope you will join us in responding to her call at this most important Marian Shrine.
00:20:21.360 Seats are limited, so please book right now.
00:20:25.620 some children are scared already being children of marrying later on will i make the same mistake
00:20:35.060 as my mom that married such a man how can i know he's not tricking me like um playing a show before
00:20:44.660 the marriage and then afterwards um dropping the mask i say just look at how they treat other
00:20:52.260 people in their environment, like their own mother, their own sisters. If they are respectful
00:20:59.280 to them, if they're gentlemen to them, then maybe he might trust them. But the other element is,
00:21:04.960 like, are they praying on their own? Are they interested in the faith on their own? Or is it
00:21:13.020 just to please a lady or whatever? Or are they just in master for the rest, nothing? Look at those
00:21:19.560 aspects before you say, I can trust him. And as far as education of children is concerned,
00:21:27.080 children look up to their parents and imitate them. And they have an image of what a woman
00:21:33.360 should be and what a man should be. First of all, looking at their own parents. At any age,
00:21:40.180 the parents should help one another, educating the children.
00:21:42.780 One of the things that often happens, it actually comes from psychology a lot. They say that what a woman really needs psychologically out of a relationship is love, and what a man needs is respect. Does that ring true with you? Is that just a psychological piece of advice, or do you think that plays into church teaching in any way?
00:22:09.800 It's not enough. Women, mainly wives, complain sometimes, I want to be secure with my husband, and I want him to lead me also in religious matters, to lead me gently.
00:22:25.800 Because there's husbands that leave the thing to their wives, like, okay, there you go, and they feel abandoned.
00:22:34.100 They still love their husband, but they would wish to be led and strengthened by their husband.
00:22:41.540 Also in educating children, a man has a lower voice than a woman, which gives him more authority.
00:22:52.180 when i look back to my own childhood sometimes we were alone with our mom and i had a brother of mine 0.71
00:23:00.800 that would come home and roll on his back and with his legs in the air
00:23:06.780 i'm going to let go of everything mom said no you're going to help um putting the table
00:23:13.980 come on
00:23:15.400 no
00:23:16.720 my mom said and at
00:23:19.840 five o'clock dad will be there
00:23:22.160 and he'll know it
00:23:23.200 and he froze
00:23:25.420 became very serious and he said
00:23:27.960 all evilness
00:23:30.200 has gone
00:23:30.840 what do you want me to do
00:23:33.540 that's how the authority of a father
00:23:36.180 works his muscles
00:23:37.900 he's taller
00:23:39.060 he has a deeper voice
00:23:41.080 this makes sure his authority
00:23:43.940 is being taken much more for serious
00:23:46.200 even if the child knows
00:23:47.960 mom is right
00:23:49.060 but the authority of the father is
00:23:52.040 very
00:23:54.260 crucial very often
00:23:55.620 this issue of family life
00:23:57.980 family discord in
00:23:59.920 today's world is affected a
00:24:02.040 lot by what
00:24:03.760 we experience
00:24:05.700 because everywhere you go right now
00:24:08.180 on earth is filled with impurity
00:24:10.080 and it is
00:24:12.260 it's ubiquitous
00:24:13.760 in a way that never has existed before in the history of mankind.
00:24:18.540 That particular challenge, how have you counseled people?
00:24:22.640 What advice do you give people to steer clear of or deal with such things?
00:24:29.980 Especially in regard to purity or in the roles husbands and wives take upon them, or both?
00:24:38.160 Both. 0.84
00:24:39.060 Both. Okay, let's first talk about the roles of husband and wife.
00:24:42.260 the husband is meant
00:24:44.560 his talents usually are
00:24:46.660 stronger in conquering
00:24:49.300 the outside world
00:24:50.700 put a man
00:24:53.160 a husband without work 0.96
00:24:55.060 he perishes
00:24:56.700 on the other hand
00:24:59.200 coming back from work
00:25:00.520 a man needs a bit of rest 1.00
00:25:03.400 the wife has to learn this 1.00
00:25:05.460 give him a space like 0.99
00:25:06.860 for a while doing his own thing
00:25:08.940 but on the other hand
00:25:11.140 a woman solves her problems 0.99
00:25:13.560 in explaining them to someone
00:25:15.540 she can trust and who
00:25:17.440 listens, at least
00:25:19.380 listens to her, not even bring the solution.
00:25:21.640 That's very strange. We found it strange
00:25:23.520 as men. Like, 0.94
00:25:25.440 she just explains her problem. I was a new priest.
00:25:27.740 I had heard this in my
00:25:29.120 education as a priest.
00:25:31.440 And it was the first time, my first year, the same
00:25:33.520 first year. And
00:25:34.980 a woman came to me
00:25:37.560 and said, I need some advice. 0.77
00:25:39.220 do you have time okay i have time then and then she came then and she explained her
00:25:43.540 difficult situation at home and i've i told her listen lady um i understand your problem
00:25:50.620 but i have to pray over it and think about it because i don't have a solution yet
00:25:54.760 and she replied hey but it's okay someone has listened to me and taken me for serious
00:26:01.600 what that's not a thing we men are happy about but they are and i in preparing people for marriage
00:26:10.960 i tell every future husband just listening and taking it for serious
00:26:15.780 solves souls more more than half of her problem take that for serious please
00:26:21.580 and investigate yourself ask how how was your day children find this important also it's not
00:26:29.020 difficult, but you have to take your time and take it for serious. How was your day?
00:26:34.200 And there's bones growing between children and fathers in these moments. If fathers aren't there
00:26:41.060 upon supper, it's very dangerous. And the authority of the mom becomes a lot stronger 0.92
00:26:50.140 when she knows I have the backing of my husband and children know it. And if dad and mom are not
00:26:58.040 one, they exploit it
00:26:59.980 at once. How can I make it happen?
00:27:02.480 Thy will be done on earth as
00:27:03.920 is in heaven. Not God's will, but my will
00:27:06.140 on earth as is in heaven.
00:27:07.800 Human beings have that tendency and children test
00:27:10.140 their limits.
00:27:13.860 And if there's a father, it says
00:27:15.080 there it is.
00:27:17.480 It will work, usually.
00:27:20.180 Certainly with small children.
00:27:22.100 As far as the roles are concerned, it's important 1.00
00:27:24.060 that male things are done 1.00
00:27:26.200 with dad and female
00:27:28.220 things with mom. There's of
00:27:30.260 course a whole lot of things
00:27:32.200 that can be done together, that should be done together
00:27:34.380 and dads should
00:27:36.320 be there also for the little children. I know
00:27:38.380 little girls that have
00:27:39.740 an easier, better
00:27:42.260 bonds with their dad than with their mom 0.99
00:27:44.480 which is an exception, being
00:27:46.300 so small as a child. But
00:27:48.360 still it happens because the dads
00:27:50.360 are present, they
00:27:52.380 take child 0.99
00:27:53.280 to their breasts, 0.85
00:27:55.960 to their chest and talk to the child and the child is very happy with it i've even experienced
00:28:03.880 one case as a family with five children the youngest child was such a father loving child
00:28:09.340 and the eldest daughter which is i think she was 15 at the time and the child was like two
00:28:17.840 two years old the father took his daughter in the summer and said i'm proud of you and the little
00:28:23.840 one it's a little choleric all emotion disappeared from her face from her little face 0.92
00:28:30.240 she went on her feet stepped onto the sofa so that she could come near to her 1.00
00:28:37.420 eldest sister and with her both hands with all force beat her sister like you don't take away 1.00
00:28:48.300 my father from me then everyone was crying out like what's happening here and then she started 0.64
00:28:54.040 weeping but only then she was aware of the fact that uh she went too far in the bonds with her
00:29:00.520 father not tolerating anyone in in this uh domain but you see um i have not i've seen another family
00:29:08.460 in which the daughter had a lot of self-confidence through her father being taken serious by her
00:29:17.600 father. Another example which I've seen, usually, for example, my own brother has a family of five
00:29:25.540 children. He always helped his wife in everything where he could because he had a lot of manual work
00:29:32.360 to do. But also, he was not afraid of doing the diapers with his baby children. And I've seen a
00:29:41.520 father here i mean he goes to two places in the church with his family of four children
00:29:48.220 and the mom looks exhausted and and people told me watch out this dad doesn't help with the
00:29:56.220 little children and the mom is exhausted i say i can't act upon this because i haven't witnessed
00:30:02.860 it myself and if i say i heard it from other people it won't work they have to come upon
00:30:08.780 to me
00:30:10.520 themselves and one day
00:30:12.520 the wife was
00:30:14.880 weeping and seeking for advice and help
00:30:16.920 and I called both in and said
00:30:18.780 look young husband
00:30:20.260 you might not have noticed 1.00
00:30:22.720 but your wife needs help 1.00
00:30:24.700 here and here
00:30:25.600 and she loves you still
00:30:27.700 no worries about it, she loves you a lot
00:30:30.740 but don't think
00:30:32.860 your role as a father
00:30:34.660 is just bringing in the money
00:30:36.120 giving a kiss and then off again
00:30:38.680 there will be no
00:30:40.700 bonds between you and your children early on
00:30:43.020 that's one thing and your wife
00:30:44.720 needs more help 1.00
00:30:45.860 and it took it for serious
00:30:47.800 certain wrong ideas exist
00:30:50.640 because the good example
00:30:51.860 very often is not there
00:30:54.780 it was even worse
00:30:56.480 at the time when I was in Germany because 1.00
00:30:58.280 a whole generation has been roved off 1.00
00:31:00.920 I mean like the generation that was sent 1.00
00:31:02.600 to the front
00:31:03.140 in the second world war it's not there
00:31:06.500 and
00:31:07.740 all those fatherless fathers that then heard about new theories about education, which
00:31:14.160 was just a lack of education, didn't do their jobs, which in the next generation made sure
00:31:22.840 that boys that wanted to marry are not fit to marry, because they have never seen the
00:31:29.540 example of a true man taking his true responsibility, treating his wife like a gentleman does, and
00:31:36.520 taking pleasure in taking
00:31:38.900 his children with him and do
00:31:40.780 something interesting
00:31:41.560 and in the times of the screens
00:31:44.780 of course it's very easy
00:31:46.740 very easy consumption you go in front
00:31:48.840 of your screen and you
00:31:49.880 kind of
00:31:52.520 take some leisure
00:31:54.840 in this respect and you think your children
00:31:56.900 are the same way and then you do
00:31:58.840 nothing worthwhile with them there are no
00:32:00.880 bonds growing they become lazy
00:32:02.860 and perhaps even tyrants if you don't
00:32:04.940 child i could write books about this because we see before our eyes but luckily the good lord is
00:32:10.700 like giving me a beautiful life as a priest seeing families flourishing that start from the
00:32:20.600 beginning on a good level like um we're counting on god's grace and we're doing whatever is
00:32:27.820 necessary to please him and i see husbands treating their wives like true gentlemen
00:32:33.800 wives looking admiring to their husband and being grateful that's the kind of marriages you want to
00:32:40.280 see that's why that's how where we were made for let's say when we marry that's amazing if i might
00:32:45.600 add one thing father just for husbands as you said what you said is perfect it's just one thing that
00:32:52.120 from my own um errors in uh in trying to do that which you suggested about listening
00:33:01.800 um i was even taught in school because i went through psychology about active listening but
00:33:08.980 i always thought ah it's just a thing um it's not a thing it it it it works and it helps people to
00:33:17.520 understand that you are, in fact, listening, that little repetition of what they're saying,
00:33:24.060 a paraphrase of what they've said to show that you understood them, all that stuff really works,
00:33:32.880 without which it can be bad. I used to take it all in, listen to it, and sort of
00:33:39.100 not say anything. And then, because I knew she was finished talking, raise another subject.
00:33:45.160 and it did not work very well
00:33:47.620 I know because you haven't demonstrated
00:33:49.660 that you were really taken up serious
00:33:51.720 and even if you don't have a solution
00:33:53.880 yet but you're really
00:33:55.760 really mulling it over
00:33:57.000 and the other person is seeing it
00:33:59.600 you take this person for serious
00:34:02.020 that solves a lot
00:34:03.140 I had to go through this process
00:34:05.760 myself growing up
00:34:07.660 I grew up between boys
00:34:09.520 no girls there
00:34:10.820 and we were very quick at
00:34:13.600 trying to solve problems like
00:34:15.060 okay let's not um waste too much time to it tell me what's going on that okay i know i know already
00:34:21.780 there's that okay we do it and then i was on a language course in southern france because um
00:34:27.540 in where i come from in flanders the dutch speaking part of belgium you learn
00:34:33.060 four languages i mean like your own language which is dutch and then you learn french as a
00:34:39.220 second language but you don't hear it so often in everyday life however much the french speakers
00:34:44.940 or like 30 kilometers away and then you learn English which you learn very quickly because
00:34:50.440 you hear it all the time and you learn German which is not too difficult because it's closer
00:34:56.980 to Dutch but upon coming out of university as an historian I had the trouble like I could read
00:35:05.700 French sources and I could talk to French talking people but not fluently so I was looking for a camp
00:35:13.080 to train it and I was training it
00:35:15.500 and one of my instructors 1.00
00:35:17.500 was a female human being 1.00
00:35:19.020 instructing very well by the way 0.52
00:35:21.260 but she told me when
00:35:23.380 she was expressing a thing
00:35:24.940 that I would interrupt and say I know the solution
00:35:27.820 you can't do this with people
00:35:29.560 that's what she said to me
00:35:31.340 I took this for serious
00:35:32.440 and later on I had a young man
00:35:34.760 a Dutchman here where I am now
00:35:37.300 a strong young man
00:35:39.560 that was really willing
00:35:40.960 to be a good husband later on
00:35:42.780 However much, he hasn't got a good father, but he wants to be one.
00:35:46.540 And he is at the moment, by the way.
00:35:48.800 But he had a girlfriend from Poland at the time.
00:35:51.580 He was married to a Polish girl, woman, another one.
00:35:55.940 But at the time, he had that problem.
00:35:58.560 Like, I don't know why it's going badly between us.
00:36:04.060 Could you talk to her?
00:36:05.160 I said, if she's willing.
00:36:07.060 And she explained to me.
00:36:08.120 every time i'm explaining a problem to him he brings the solution before i ever am
00:36:16.640 ready explaining the whole thing and she decided before my eyes i cut this relationship off
00:36:24.160 and it doesn't have to think i come back again for this particular reason we were both impressed
00:36:32.520 i must say he has never made the faith the same mistake anymore he he wanted a polish woman because
00:36:41.300 he said said in northern europe the the deepest faithful catholics you have to look for there 0.97
00:36:46.280 there's lots of them here too in the netherlands by the way but it had to be a polish girl has
00:36:52.040 found one he's a very like the dutchman can be undertaking man he looks in the program of the
00:36:59.920 Society of St. Peter 10th in Poland. What did it do
00:37:02.060 with the youth? There's a giant
00:37:03.940 celebration of New Year's Day
00:37:05.900 with all the youth, and they come together
00:37:08.140 in Warsaw. I'll be
00:37:09.920 there, and I'll pick my 1.00
00:37:11.960 wife there. And he did. 0.67
00:37:14.580 I was very surprised.
00:37:16.360 They have a happy marriage now.
00:37:17.840 He's learned his lesson the hard way.
00:37:19.640 Father, thank you so very much for
00:37:21.880 all of your wisdom, your teaching.
00:37:23.760 One last thing we'd ask of you. Can you give us
00:37:25.900 your blessing?
00:37:26.960 With a lot of pleasure.
00:37:28.740 A Ditorium Nostrum, my name is Domini
00:37:31.120 Be feci c'ere me terra
00:37:33.260 Amen
00:37:35.920 Amen
00:37:39.920 Amen
00:37:40.620 Thank you so much, Father. God bless you
00:37:43.180 Thank you a lot. You too. I pray for you and your apostolate
00:37:45.900 which I'm very fond of
00:37:47.720 for a long time. Thank you for the good work you do
00:37:50.060 And God bless all of you
00:37:53.180 Hello, I'm Frank Wright
00:37:58.100 for LifeSite News.
00:38:00.060 I'm speaking to you today
00:38:01.260 in an appeal to you
00:38:02.440 to donate to LifeSite's fundraising campaign.
00:38:05.320 Saint Augustine said
00:38:06.340 that evil can be explained
00:38:08.800 as the deprivation of the good
00:38:10.780 from the lives of men.
00:38:12.660 When men lose sight of the good,
00:38:14.340 evil fills their lives.
00:38:16.340 The mission of LifeSite News
00:38:17.680 is to bring you the truth
00:38:19.220 about the crisis of the church
00:38:21.000 and the state that we inhabit today.
00:38:23.580 And it is only LifeSite News,
00:38:25.120 in my opinion,
00:38:25.980 under the leadership of John Henry Weston,
00:38:28.100 that is prepared to do this regardless of the cost. This means that LifeSite News cannot rely
00:38:34.420 on monetization on major platforms and instead relies on you, our faithful readers and viewers
00:38:41.860 and subscribers, to keep our mission to bring you the truth of faith, freedom, life and the family
00:38:50.500 in a time of universal deceit and apparent apostasy. God bless you all and I'll see you
00:38:57.220 you again soon on LifeSite News.
