00:01:45.280 are still trickling in, quote-unquote.

00:01:48.280 Republicans are inching closer towards a slim majority in the House

00:01:51.320 while the Senate still hangs in the balance.

00:01:54.000 The Senate races in a few key states have yet to be called now, two days later.

00:01:58.800 Why is it taking this long?

00:02:00.080 I mean, how is it that a state in a modern and allegedly advanced country

00:02:04.200 could take two days to count its ballots and still not be finished?

00:02:08.140 How do we explain a state that has 60% counted of its votes,

00:02:12.620 and then you check back 18 hours later, and they've counted 75% of their votes?

00:02:17.260 How could this slow pace possibly be justified,

00:02:20.280 especially when states like Florida, with far more ballots to count,

00:02:24.860 manage to get them all tallied in like five hours?

00:02:27.960 Well, it makes sense once you understand the process.

00:02:31.900 And I think a lot of people don't understand the process.

00:02:34.180 There's a lot of misinformation.

00:02:34.980 So in Arizona, for example, it takes a long time in Arizona.

00:02:39.640 Well, what happens is each individual ballot has to be ferried up a mountainside

00:02:44.960 on the back of a goat and delivered to a magical oracle who's sitting in a cave,

00:02:50.000 who then communicates the results via a chain of smoke signals,

00:02:53.600 which eventually get back to the election office,

00:02:55.960 which then, after any necessary corrections are made, of course,

00:02:59.340 sends the tally to CNN by carrier pigeon.

00:03:02.520 So that's the system, and it's quite standard.

00:03:05.280 I mean, how else are they supposed to do it?

00:03:07.100 Can you think of a better one?

00:03:08.860 At least that's the most encouraging theory that I can come up with,

00:03:12.520 because the more likely explanation is that they take so long because they want to take so long,

00:03:17.640 and there is no good reason why they could want that.

00:03:21.080 I mean, there are reasons why they could want it, but no good ones.

00:03:23.580 They don't fix the system because, for their purpose, the system isn't broken.

00:03:29.360 It's working exactly as they prefer, according to their purposes.

00:03:33.500 Yet, even as we wait for the mountaintop oracle to give us the final results,

00:03:37.480 we can still arrive at certain conclusions about the state of our country and our culture,

00:03:41.540 and none of them are all that encouraging, I'm afraid.

00:03:44.660 So take Montana referendum number 131.

00:03:48.200 The results here, too, are still being tabulated somehow, but with 90% reporting or so,

00:03:53.300 it looks certain that the referendum is going to fail in Montana.

00:03:56.900 Nearly a quarter of a million residents voted against the referendum,

00:04:00.120 with about 200,000 voting for it.

00:04:02.620 What does the referendum seek to accomplish?

00:04:04.560 Well, it is supposed to guarantee medical treatment for infants born alive after a botched abortion.

00:04:11.580 So to be clear, a majority of voters in Montana

00:04:13.920 do not want to give life-saving medical treatment to a born infant outside of the mother's womb.

00:04:20.880 They voted in favor of leaving the child to die horrifically and painfully.

00:04:26.540 Now, there are some generous souls out there who want to make excuses for these voters,

00:04:31.620 claiming the referendum was worded in a confusing way.

00:04:35.140 And that can be a problem, certainly, and has been in the past.

00:04:38.020 There's a referendum, and then you look at the way it's worded, and it's hard.

00:04:41.280 In fact, we had one of those a couple months ago we were looking at,

00:04:43.480 and it's just hard to tell what they're asking you.

00:04:47.040 But you tell me if you're confused by this.

00:04:48.880 Here's the actual language.

00:04:49.940 Here's the question that appeared on the ballot in Montana.

00:04:52.360 This is what it said.

00:04:54.780 An act adopting the Born Alive Infant Protection Act,

00:04:58.360 providing that infants born alive, including infants born alive after an abortion,

00:05:02.100 are legal persons, requiring health care providers to take necessary actions

00:05:06.020 to preserve the life of a born-alive infant,

00:05:08.580 providing a penalty, providing that the proposed act be submitted

00:05:11.500 to qualified electors of Montana, and providing an effective date.

00:05:16.060 And then the voters were invited to vote either yes, approving the referendum,

00:05:20.980 or no, to rejecting it.

00:05:23.080 These are the statements.

00:05:24.000 It's an act providing legal protection to infants born alive.

00:05:27.780 Yes or no?

00:05:28.340 I can't see how anyone could possibly be confused by that.

00:05:32.800 Again, an act to provide legal status to infants born alive after an abortion.

00:05:36.840 Yes, you want to give them that status and thus save their lives, or no, you don't.

00:05:40.900 And if you say no, as it clearly indicates in the wording,

00:05:43.180 you are voting to deny legal protections to born infant children.

00:05:47.580 A majority of voters in Montana, Montana, okay,

00:05:50.640 not typically considered a bastion of far-left activism, voted to deny those protections to children.

00:05:58.420 We can comfort ourselves with the desperate hope that these Montana voters are just incredibly stupid

00:06:04.100 rather than incredibly evil, but I think that would be a false hope.

00:06:08.800 In fact, abortion and infanticide won on the ballot all across the country,

00:06:13.260 in red states and blue states.

00:06:14.460 Voters from Montana to Kentucky to more expected places like Michigan and California

00:06:19.120 voted, often by considerable margins, to deny any legal protections to children born and unborn.

00:06:26.500 That's the fact of the matter.

00:06:28.300 It's not fun to consider, but it is a fact all the same.

00:06:32.760 There is definitely, we cannot deny, a candidate quality problem in the Republican Party,

00:06:37.200 but there is also, I'm afraid to say, a voter quality problem.

00:06:43.520 Now, the results of these referendums and of the races themselves can largely be explained by,

00:06:48.420 and blamed on, I suppose, two often overlapping groups, and that would be Gen Z and unmarried women.

00:06:55.340 Now, it's been widely discussed, and it comes as a surprise to no one, I assume,

00:06:59.640 that Democrats won the Gen Z vote by about two to one.

00:07:03.140 But the unmarried woman factor is, I think, most notable.

00:07:07.160 As the Daily Wire reports, quote,

00:07:08.200 Unmarried women voted Democrat in the 2022 midterm elections by a significant margin,

00:07:13.000 according to exit poll data.

00:07:14.620 Compared to married individuals favoring GOP candidates this year,

00:07:18.060 a CNN exit poll of 18,571 total respondents found 68% of single women mark their ballots

00:07:24.820 for Democratic politicians, a 37-point margin over the Republican Party.

00:07:29.740 Republicans gained 20% more votes from married men than Democrats,

00:07:32.920 while single men voted 7% more for GOP figures.

00:07:35.900 We should also note, importantly, that Republicans won the married woman vote by 14 points.

00:07:41.740 So Republicans win clear majorities of the married vote,

00:07:44.260 and still a slim majority of the married, of the rather unmarried man vote.

00:07:48.980 But unmarried women swing heavily to Democrats.

00:07:53.340 Based on this, we can also assume that they are largely responsible for these ballot measures

00:07:57.140 enshrining abortion and infanticide across the country.

00:07:59.620 I mean, that's why these measures passed, or didn't pass, as the case may be.

00:08:03.760 The good news for Democrats is that the number of unmarried women in the country continues to

00:08:11.640 increase year over year.

00:08:13.660 In the middle of the previous century, so around 1940, 1950, a vast majority of the households

00:08:18.800 in the country, 80% or so, were comprised of married couples and families.

00:08:22.560 They were led by married couples or families, you know, 80%.

00:08:25.940 That number fell to around half by the end of the century.

00:08:29.000 So around 2000, we were about 50% of households were led by married couples.

00:08:34.520 And within a decade after that, around 2010, it fell to less than half.

00:08:39.480 So now a majority of households are not led by married couples.

00:08:43.180 And this is a first in recorded history.

00:08:47.680 And the trend continues rapidly in that direction every year.

00:08:50.420 This is very bad news for children, and not just because unmarried people are more likely

00:08:55.780 to vote to strip children of basic legal protections, but also because the children born to these

00:09:00.500 unmarried people, remember, we're talking about unmarried people, not necessarily childless

00:09:03.940 people, not exclusively childless.

00:09:06.740 So any children born to these unmarried people, by every conceivable measure, face greater obstacles.

00:09:12.160 Okay, they'll have a worse time of it.

00:09:13.460 They will fare worse.

00:09:15.440 Children born to single parents are far more likely to have behavior problems, far more

00:09:20.140 likely to have academic problems, far more likely to drop out of school, far more likely

00:09:23.580 to get expelled, far more likely to end up in prison, far more likely to end up on drugs,

00:09:27.540 far more likely to end up homeless, far more likely to fall victim to violent crime, on and

00:09:31.700 on and on.

00:09:32.980 It is extremely bad for children and for society to abandon marriage.

00:09:38.120 That's just the fact.

00:09:39.240 But as is so often the case, what is bad for kids and bad for the culture is really good

00:09:46.140 for the Democrats.

00:09:48.640 You know, they are, the Democrat Party is a, it's a vulture.

00:09:52.400 You know, it feasts on the carcass of decaying civilizations.

00:09:58.040 Now, it's easy to see why the Democrat Party is determined then to undermine marriage and destroy

00:10:02.780 the nuclear family.

00:10:04.120 You can see why the left is openly hostile to the nuclear family, why they have declared war

00:10:08.000 against it.

00:10:09.560 The nuclear family, led by a man and woman bonded in marriage, serves as a blockade, a

00:10:14.340 fortress, standing against the left's political and cultural aspirations.

00:10:18.600 They know they can't achieve their ultimate ends without blowing up the fortress, and that's

00:10:22.840 what they've set out to do, and they're already having, you know, enormous success, and they're

00:10:26.340 reaping enormous political rewards in the process.

00:10:29.680 Now, why do unmarried people, especially women, tend to favor Democrats?

00:10:34.620 That's obvious enough.

00:10:36.360 Marriage and family life will tend to make you less selfish, tend to make you less obsessively

00:10:41.700 focused on your own desires, tend to make you more invested in the future, more grounded,

00:10:47.320 right?

00:10:48.020 In a word, more conservative.

00:10:51.420 Selfish, shallow people will naturally find leftism more appealing, and they're also more

00:10:56.760 susceptible to manipulation.

00:10:58.540 What's more, when you're single, you're more vulnerable, and that's more likely to be dependent

00:11:02.380 on the government.

00:11:03.980 Democrats know this, which is one of the primary reasons they oppose a nuclear family.

00:11:06.920 Nuclear families need less from the government, typically, and therefore are harder to control.

00:11:13.180 The more reliant you are on the government, the more you can be controlled.

00:11:17.300 The easier it is for the Democrats to extract your vote.

00:11:21.820 Unmarried women in particular, if they're sexually active, you know, are going to be more likely.

00:11:26.760 Democrats can get their vote, manipulate them, use emotional blackmail to get their vote

00:11:30.500 with the abortion issue, because they're more vulnerable.

00:11:35.320 And because they're not married, if they have a kid, they're more likely to see it as a crisis,

00:11:40.440 you know, because they're not married.

00:11:42.200 Now, when you're married, and there are still married couples that get abortions,

00:11:45.920 which is hideously evil, of course.

00:11:47.760 But if you're married and you have a kid, you're less likely to see it as a crisis,

00:11:52.420 because you're married and you have a family.

00:11:54.420 And that's what the marriage, this is what that's all about.

00:11:56.900 So what does this mean?

00:11:59.620 It means, of course, that our political problem is, first, a cultural problem.

00:12:04.600 And there is no solving the former without addressing the latter.

00:12:07.900 And there is no addressing the latter if we're going to neglect marriage and the family.

00:12:12.540 You know, for decades, conservatives have looked for ways to win the political game

00:12:15.920 without winning the cultural game.

00:12:18.080 And they're looking for ways to win the culture, then,

00:12:20.820 without defending and encouraging marriage and the family.

00:12:23.020 And it just doesn't work.

00:12:23.960 It can't.

00:12:24.420 It never will.

00:12:25.040 If we want the cultural victory, and thus the political victory,

00:12:30.760 our message should be, get married, have kids, stay married.

00:12:38.260 Get married, have kids, stay married.

00:12:41.000 In that order.

00:12:47.820 If more people follow that, yes, Republicans will win many more elections.

00:12:51.320 You know, if we were still at 80% married households,

00:12:55.620 then Republicans would never lose a national election again.

00:13:00.540 But more importantly, we will have saved our culture from annihilation.

00:13:05.000 And more important still, people will be living purposeful, joyful lives.

00:13:11.300 Which ultimately is the end result that Democrats are most desperate to avoid.

00:14:37.960 And what I'm always saying, and it might not be the answer people want to hear,

00:14:41.180 but it's just the truth, that you have to look at this as a long game.

00:14:47.360 You have to play the long game.

00:14:49.060 This is a generational struggle.

00:14:51.060 It is not something that's going to be won overnight.

00:14:55.100 If the red wave had materialized, exactly as a lot of people expected,

00:14:59.820 and we had the big red wave, would that mean that the culture is saved?

00:18:20.960 Which means that Biden's agenda is dead in the water.

00:18:24.400 that it was living in the first place,

00:18:25.480 to the extent that he's even living in the first place.

00:18:46.980 and critical race theory fared depressingly well

00:18:50.040 in the yesterday's superintendent and school board races,

00:18:53.100 according to their writer, Jessica Winter.

00:18:54.740 So Jessica Winter of the New Yorker is depressed today

00:18:57.840 because, yes, although Democrats did better

00:19:02.540 on a national level and in the national offices

00:19:05.100 than people expected,

00:19:07.080 they didn't do very well in school board races.

00:19:08.640 They didn't do very well in superintendent races.

00:19:13.240 And the New Yorker is lamenting

00:19:15.040 that the, quote, culture war tactics

00:19:17.420 in those races paid dividends.

00:19:20.180 And they did.

00:19:22.320 And so that's why, as I was emphasizing yesterday,

00:19:24.980 I hope that the,

00:19:26.560 I know the Republican establishment in particular,

00:19:29.560 the lesson they take from every election,

00:19:31.980 whether it's a win or a loss or somewhere in between,

00:19:34.740 they always take the lesson that,

00:19:36.160 well, you see, this proves that all we should be talking about

00:19:38.100 is tax cuts.

00:19:40.080 And we got to leave all this culture war stuff to the side.

00:19:43.620 But yesterday's results prove exactly the opposite.

00:19:47.440 In areas where conservatives leaned into the culture war
