The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 1060 - Why The Democrats Want You To Stay Unmarried Forever

00:00:00.000 Today on The Matt Walsh Show, Democrats dominated the unmarried woman vote on Tuesday.

00:00:04.480 You can see why the left is so determined to destroy marriage and the family.

00:00:07.440 Also, were the results actually as bad for Republicans as everyone seems to assume?

00:00:12.060 We'll discuss.

00:00:12.920 And Joe Biden considers investigating Elon Musk.

00:00:15.680 For what exactly?

00:00:16.620 Well, he hasn't figured that out yet.

00:00:18.100 AOC issues a public apology for failing to have pronouns in her bio.

00:00:21.560 Plus, cops arrest a blind man for having a walking cane.

00:00:24.600 It may sound like there's more to this story, but there really isn't.

00:00:27.240 We'll talk about all of that and more today on The Matt Walsh Show.

00:00:30.000 You know, I love spending the holidays with my family.

00:00:41.760 And one of the ways that I like to do that is with delicious meat from Good Ranchers.

00:01:32.900 That's GoodRanchers.com slash Walsh for two Black Angus New York strip steaks free with your order.

00:01:38.980 Good Ranchers, American meat delivered.

00:01:40.800 Well, as it stands right now, the election results, as we are told,

00:01:45.280 are still trickling in, quote-unquote.

00:01:48.280 Republicans are inching closer towards a slim majority in the House

00:01:51.320 while the Senate still hangs in the balance.

00:01:54.000 The Senate races in a few key states have yet to be called now, two days later.

00:01:58.800 Why is it taking this long?

00:02:00.080 I mean, how is it that a state in a modern and allegedly advanced country

00:02:04.200 could take two days to count its ballots and still not be finished?

00:02:08.140 How do we explain a state that has 60% counted of its votes,

00:02:12.620 and then you check back 18 hours later, and they've counted 75% of their votes?

00:02:17.260 How could this slow pace possibly be justified,

00:02:20.280 especially when states like Florida, with far more ballots to count,

00:02:24.860 manage to get them all tallied in like five hours?

00:02:27.960 Well, it makes sense once you understand the process.

00:02:31.900 And I think a lot of people don't understand the process.

00:02:34.180 There's a lot of misinformation.

00:02:34.980 So in Arizona, for example, it takes a long time in Arizona.

00:02:39.640 Well, what happens is each individual ballot has to be ferried up a mountainside

00:02:44.960 on the back of a goat and delivered to a magical oracle who's sitting in a cave,

00:02:50.000 who then communicates the results via a chain of smoke signals,

00:02:53.600 which eventually get back to the election office,

00:02:55.960 which then, after any necessary corrections are made, of course,

00:02:59.340 sends the tally to CNN by carrier pigeon.

00:03:02.520 So that's the system, and it's quite standard.

00:03:05.280 I mean, how else are they supposed to do it?

00:03:07.100 Can you think of a better one?

00:03:08.860 At least that's the most encouraging theory that I can come up with,

00:03:12.520 because the more likely explanation is that they take so long because they want to take so long,

00:03:17.640 and there is no good reason why they could want that.

00:03:21.080 I mean, there are reasons why they could want it, but no good ones.

00:03:23.580 They don't fix the system because, for their purpose, the system isn't broken.

00:03:29.360 It's working exactly as they prefer, according to their purposes.

00:03:33.500 Yet, even as we wait for the mountaintop oracle to give us the final results,

00:03:37.480 we can still arrive at certain conclusions about the state of our country and our culture,

00:03:41.540 and none of them are all that encouraging, I'm afraid.

00:03:44.660 So take Montana referendum number 131.

00:03:48.200 The results here, too, are still being tabulated somehow, but with 90% reporting or so,

00:03:53.300 it looks certain that the referendum is going to fail in Montana.

00:03:56.900 Nearly a quarter of a million residents voted against the referendum,

00:04:00.120 with about 200,000 voting for it.

00:04:02.620 What does the referendum seek to accomplish?

00:04:04.560 Well, it is supposed to guarantee medical treatment for infants born alive after a botched abortion.

00:04:11.580 So to be clear, a majority of voters in Montana

00:04:13.920 do not want to give life-saving medical treatment to a born infant outside of the mother's womb.

00:04:20.880 They voted in favor of leaving the child to die horrifically and painfully.

00:04:26.540 Now, there are some generous souls out there who want to make excuses for these voters,

00:04:31.620 claiming the referendum was worded in a confusing way.

00:04:35.140 And that can be a problem, certainly, and has been in the past.

00:04:38.020 There's a referendum, and then you look at the way it's worded, and it's hard.

00:04:41.280 In fact, we had one of those a couple months ago we were looking at,

00:04:43.480 and it's just hard to tell what they're asking you.

00:04:47.040 But you tell me if you're confused by this.

00:04:48.880 Here's the actual language.

00:04:49.940 Here's the question that appeared on the ballot in Montana.

00:04:52.360 This is what it said.

00:04:54.780 An act adopting the Born Alive Infant Protection Act,

00:04:58.360 providing that infants born alive, including infants born alive after an abortion,

00:05:02.100 are legal persons, requiring health care providers to take necessary actions

00:05:06.020 to preserve the life of a born-alive infant,

00:05:08.580 providing a penalty, providing that the proposed act be submitted

00:05:11.500 to qualified electors of Montana, and providing an effective date.

00:05:16.060 And then the voters were invited to vote either yes, approving the referendum,

00:05:20.980 or no, to rejecting it.

00:05:23.080 These are the statements.

00:05:24.000 It's an act providing legal protection to infants born alive.

00:05:27.780 Yes or no?

00:05:28.340 I can't see how anyone could possibly be confused by that.

00:05:32.800 Again, an act to provide legal status to infants born alive after an abortion. 0.55

00:05:36.840 Yes, you want to give them that status and thus save their lives, or no, you don't.

00:05:40.900 And if you say no, as it clearly indicates in the wording,

00:05:43.180 you are voting to deny legal protections to born infant children.

00:05:47.580 A majority of voters in Montana, Montana, okay,

00:05:50.640 not typically considered a bastion of far-left activism, voted to deny those protections to children. 1.00

00:05:58.420 We can comfort ourselves with the desperate hope that these Montana voters are just incredibly stupid 1.00

00:06:04.100 rather than incredibly evil, but I think that would be a false hope. 1.00

00:06:08.800 In fact, abortion and infanticide won on the ballot all across the country,

00:06:13.260 in red states and blue states.

00:06:14.460 Voters from Montana to Kentucky to more expected places like Michigan and California

00:06:19.120 voted, often by considerable margins, to deny any legal protections to children born and unborn.

00:06:26.500 That's the fact of the matter.

00:06:28.300 It's not fun to consider, but it is a fact all the same.

00:06:32.760 There is definitely, we cannot deny, a candidate quality problem in the Republican Party,

00:06:37.200 but there is also, I'm afraid to say, a voter quality problem.

00:06:43.520 Now, the results of these referendums and of the races themselves can largely be explained by,

00:06:48.420 and blamed on, I suppose, two often overlapping groups, and that would be Gen Z and unmarried women.

00:06:55.340 Now, it's been widely discussed, and it comes as a surprise to no one, I assume,

00:06:59.640 that Democrats won the Gen Z vote by about two to one.

00:07:03.140 But the unmarried woman factor is, I think, most notable. 0.54

00:07:07.160 As the Daily Wire reports, quote,

00:07:08.200 Unmarried women voted Democrat in the 2022 midterm elections by a significant margin,

00:07:13.000 according to exit poll data.

00:07:14.620 Compared to married individuals favoring GOP candidates this year,

00:07:18.060 a CNN exit poll of 18,571 total respondents found 68% of single women mark their ballots

00:07:24.820 for Democratic politicians, a 37-point margin over the Republican Party.

00:07:29.740 Republicans gained 20% more votes from married men than Democrats,

00:07:32.920 while single men voted 7% more for GOP figures.

00:07:35.900 We should also note, importantly, that Republicans won the married woman vote by 14 points.

00:07:41.740 So Republicans win clear majorities of the married vote,

00:07:44.260 and still a slim majority of the married, of the rather unmarried man vote.

00:07:48.980 But unmarried women swing heavily to Democrats.

00:07:53.340 Based on this, we can also assume that they are largely responsible for these ballot measures

00:07:57.140 enshrining abortion and infanticide across the country.

00:07:59.620 I mean, that's why these measures passed, or didn't pass, as the case may be.

00:08:03.760 The good news for Democrats is that the number of unmarried women in the country continues to 1.00

00:08:11.640 increase year over year.

00:08:13.660 In the middle of the previous century, so around 1940, 1950, a vast majority of the households

00:08:18.800 in the country, 80% or so, were comprised of married couples and families.

00:08:22.560 They were led by married couples or families, you know, 80%.

00:08:25.940 That number fell to around half by the end of the century.

00:08:29.000 So around 2000, we were about 50% of households were led by married couples.

00:08:34.520 And within a decade after that, around 2010, it fell to less than half.

00:08:39.480 So now a majority of households are not led by married couples.

00:08:43.180 And this is a first in recorded history.

00:08:47.680 And the trend continues rapidly in that direction every year.

00:08:50.420 This is very bad news for children, and not just because unmarried people are more likely 1.00

00:08:55.780 to vote to strip children of basic legal protections, but also because the children born to these 0.89

00:09:00.500 unmarried people, remember, we're talking about unmarried people, not necessarily childless

00:09:03.940 people, not exclusively childless.

00:09:06.740 So any children born to these unmarried people, by every conceivable measure, face greater obstacles. 0.94

00:09:12.160 Okay, they'll have a worse time of it.

00:09:13.460 They will fare worse.

00:09:15.440 Children born to single parents are far more likely to have behavior problems, far more

00:09:20.140 likely to have academic problems, far more likely to drop out of school, far more likely

00:09:23.580 to get expelled, far more likely to end up in prison, far more likely to end up on drugs,

00:09:27.540 far more likely to end up homeless, far more likely to fall victim to violent crime, on and

00:09:31.700 on and on.

00:09:32.980 It is extremely bad for children and for society to abandon marriage.

00:09:38.120 That's just the fact.

00:09:39.240 But as is so often the case, what is bad for kids and bad for the culture is really good 1.00

00:09:46.140 for the Democrats.

00:09:48.640 You know, they are, the Democrat Party is a, it's a vulture.

00:09:52.400 You know, it feasts on the carcass of decaying civilizations.

00:09:58.040 Now, it's easy to see why the Democrat Party is determined then to undermine marriage and destroy

00:10:02.780 the nuclear family.

00:10:04.120 You can see why the left is openly hostile to the nuclear family, why they have declared war

00:10:08.000 against it.

00:10:09.560 The nuclear family, led by a man and woman bonded in marriage, serves as a blockade, a 1.00

00:10:14.340 fortress, standing against the left's political and cultural aspirations.

00:10:18.600 They know they can't achieve their ultimate ends without blowing up the fortress, and that's

00:10:22.840 what they've set out to do, and they're already having, you know, enormous success, and they're

00:10:26.340 reaping enormous political rewards in the process.

00:10:29.680 Now, why do unmarried people, especially women, tend to favor Democrats? 0.97

00:10:34.620 That's obvious enough.

00:10:36.360 Marriage and family life will tend to make you less selfish, tend to make you less obsessively

00:10:41.700 focused on your own desires, tend to make you more invested in the future, more grounded,

00:10:47.320 right?

00:10:48.020 In a word, more conservative.

00:10:51.420 Selfish, shallow people will naturally find leftism more appealing, and they're also more

00:10:56.760 susceptible to manipulation.

00:10:58.540 What's more, when you're single, you're more vulnerable, and that's more likely to be dependent

00:11:02.380 on the government.

00:11:03.980 Democrats know this, which is one of the primary reasons they oppose a nuclear family.

00:11:06.920 Nuclear families need less from the government, typically, and therefore are harder to control. 0.99

00:11:13.180 The more reliant you are on the government, the more you can be controlled.

00:11:17.300 The easier it is for the Democrats to extract your vote.

00:11:21.820 Unmarried women in particular, if they're sexually active, you know, are going to be more likely. 0.99

00:11:26.760 Democrats can get their vote, manipulate them, use emotional blackmail to get their vote

00:11:30.500 with the abortion issue, because they're more vulnerable.

00:11:35.320 And because they're not married, if they have a kid, they're more likely to see it as a crisis,

00:11:40.440 you know, because they're not married.

00:11:42.200 Now, when you're married, and there are still married couples that get abortions, 1.00

00:11:45.920 which is hideously evil, of course.

00:11:47.760 But if you're married and you have a kid, you're less likely to see it as a crisis,

00:11:52.420 because you're married and you have a family.

00:11:54.420 And that's what the marriage, this is what that's all about.

00:11:56.900 So what does this mean?

00:11:59.620 It means, of course, that our political problem is, first, a cultural problem.

00:12:04.600 And there is no solving the former without addressing the latter.

00:12:07.900 And there is no addressing the latter if we're going to neglect marriage and the family.

00:12:12.540 You know, for decades, conservatives have looked for ways to win the political game

00:12:15.920 without winning the cultural game.

00:12:18.080 And they're looking for ways to win the culture, then,

00:12:20.820 without defending and encouraging marriage and the family.

00:12:23.020 And it just doesn't work.

00:12:23.960 It can't.

00:12:24.420 It never will.

00:12:25.040 If we want the cultural victory, and thus the political victory,

00:12:30.760 our message should be, get married, have kids, stay married. 0.62

00:12:38.260 Get married, have kids, stay married.

00:12:41.000 In that order.

00:12:41.880 That's the three-step process.

00:12:45.120 Get married, have kids, stay married.

00:12:47.820 If more people follow that, yes, Republicans will win many more elections.

00:12:51.320 You know, if we were still at 80% married households,

00:12:55.620 then Republicans would never lose a national election again.

00:13:00.540 But more importantly, we will have saved our culture from annihilation.

00:13:05.000 And more important still, people will be living purposeful, joyful lives.

00:13:11.300 Which ultimately is the end result that Democrats are most desperate to avoid.

00:13:15.740 Now let's get to our five headlines.

00:13:25.300 The left is losing their faith, but we're not.

00:13:28.380 And a core part of that faith is prayer.

00:13:30.200 You know, I talk a lot about stressful things all day,

00:13:31.920 and you might feel a little bit overwhelmed with where the country is going.

00:14:14.420 There's a couple other points I wanted to make,

00:14:16.780 just about the general, about the election results.

00:14:19.280 And the first is, just to reiterate something that I think I said yesterday

00:14:22.700 and that I say all the time,

00:14:24.920 when I get this question about, you know, what are we going to do?

00:14:28.480 How do we save the country?

00:14:29.580 How do we save our culture?

00:14:30.980 And a question that's asked a lot now after the election results,

00:14:34.660 but, you know, in general, it's a question conservatives always have.

00:14:37.960 And what I'm always saying, and it might not be the answer people want to hear,

00:14:41.180 but it's just the truth, that you have to look at this as a long game.

00:14:47.360 You have to play the long game.

00:14:49.060 This is a generational struggle.

00:14:51.060 It is not something that's going to be won overnight.

00:14:54.880 Okay?

00:14:55.100 If the red wave had materialized, exactly as a lot of people expected,

00:14:59.820 and we had the big red wave, would that mean that the culture is saved?

00:15:03.220 Hooray! 0.97

00:15:03.680 You know, you control maybe both houses of Congress for two years with a Democrat president.

00:15:08.960 Does that save the culture?

00:15:09.680 No.

00:15:11.240 It would have done a lot that should have been done,

00:15:13.140 and the primary thing is it would have delivered the rebuke to the Democrats

00:15:16.200 that they desperately need.

00:15:18.880 But that wouldn't have saved the culture.

00:15:22.360 Saving the culture and our civilization, again, that's a generational fight.

00:15:25.760 How do I know it's a generational fight?

00:15:26.920 Because it took generations for us to get here.

00:15:29.260 Okay, we did lose the culture.

00:15:30.920 We are right now in a, you know, we are in hostile, occupied territory, culturally speaking.

00:15:38.240 We're the guerrilla fighters, the guerrilla warriors in the culture war.

00:15:43.140 So it is lost.

00:15:45.320 We did lose it.

00:15:46.140 We're trying to regain it, recapture what was lost.

00:15:48.340 But it took generations to lose it.

00:15:50.880 It'll take generations to win it back.

00:15:53.800 And not just one generation.

00:15:55.740 I mean, look at Gen Z, dominated by, you know, a reliably voting Democrat.

00:16:02.140 What does that mean?

00:16:02.940 It means that the ultimate victory, if it comes,

00:16:07.220 if we save Western civilization and it becomes a thriving,

00:16:14.040 shining city on the hill again,

00:16:19.420 I'm not going to live to see that.

00:16:21.820 And you're not going to live to see it either.

00:16:24.720 Maybe our children will, or maybe our children's children.

00:16:28.260 So that's what we're working towards.

00:16:31.760 We're going to be in the trenches, right, for our whole lives.

00:16:34.600 You could be depressed by that if you want to.

00:16:38.720 I don't find it depressing.

00:16:40.620 You know, I find it somewhat invigorating.

00:16:42.860 Because I know what my job is.

00:16:44.980 It's very simple for me.

00:16:46.400 This is my, right, this is my lot,

00:16:48.960 is to fight down in the trenches,

00:16:50.600 to do the dirty work for the sake of future generations.

00:16:54.400 People used to do that.

00:16:56.060 You know, we used to be a society where people fought

00:16:58.380 for the sake of the future.

00:17:00.800 You know, they fought for things,

00:17:02.420 for results that they would not live to see.

00:17:04.620 And they were fine with that.

00:17:07.040 These days, we want the immediate satisfaction.

00:17:09.820 We don't care about any victory that we don't get to see tomorrow.

00:17:14.060 But that's just not the way this is going to be.

00:17:15.680 We've got to get used to it.

00:17:17.780 Makes it very simple.

00:17:18.840 Your lot, your vocation is to fight.

00:17:21.020 That's what you're here for.

00:17:22.120 That's what you're going to do.

00:17:24.360 Embrace it.

00:17:26.340 Learn to enjoy it.

00:17:27.380 That's what it really takes.

00:17:29.860 That's the, you know, the attitude and the personality

00:17:33.660 that we're going to need to adopt, if you don't already.

00:17:37.200 Embrace the fight and also learn to enjoy it.

00:17:42.240 But at the same time, I also wanted to note,

00:17:44.900 and these two things may seem contradictory.

00:17:46.800 They're really not.

00:17:47.280 But, you know, I think it's also worth noting that this

00:17:52.400 perhaps is not as big of a disaster for Republicans

00:17:56.600 as it's being made out to be.

00:17:58.700 Right?

00:17:59.120 It's not good.

00:18:00.340 We didn't get the red wave that was expected in all of that.

00:18:03.980 But the way that we're talking about this,

00:18:05.760 the way the media is talking about it,

00:18:07.580 the way that many conservatives are talking about it

00:18:11.340 in their kind of depressive state,

00:18:13.220 it's as if it was this crushing, resounding victory

00:18:16.780 for the Democrats, and it really wasn't.

00:18:18.540 The Democrats are going to lose the House.

00:18:20.580 Okay?

00:18:20.960 Which means that Biden's agenda is dead in the water.

00:18:22.880 I mean, it's just dead to the extent

00:18:24.400 that it was living in the first place,

00:18:25.480 to the extent that he's even living in the first place.

00:18:27.800 So they're going to lose the House.

00:18:30.320 So they're going to lose that.

00:18:32.620 And what we also know is that,

00:18:35.740 and we know about what happened in Florida,

00:18:37.900 and there are other bright spots as well.

00:18:40.120 In fact, the New Yorker put out this tweet today

00:18:43.360 in this article.

00:18:44.480 It says,

00:18:45.020 Candidates who railed against teachers' unions

00:18:46.980 and critical race theory fared depressingly well

00:18:50.040 in the yesterday's superintendent and school board races,

00:18:53.100 according to their writer, Jessica Winter.

00:18:54.740 So Jessica Winter of the New Yorker is depressed today

00:18:57.840 because, yes, although Democrats did better

00:19:02.540 on a national level and in the national offices

00:19:05.100 than people expected,

00:19:07.080 they didn't do very well in school board races.

00:19:08.640 They didn't do very well in superintendent races.

00:19:13.240 And the New Yorker is lamenting

00:19:15.040 that the, quote, culture war tactics

00:19:17.420 in those races paid dividends.

00:19:20.180 And they did.

00:19:22.320 And so that's why, as I was emphasizing yesterday,

00:19:24.980 I hope that the,

00:19:26.560 I know the Republican establishment in particular,

00:19:29.560 the lesson they take from every election,

00:19:31.980 whether it's a win or a loss or somewhere in between,

00:19:34.740 they always take the lesson that,

00:19:36.160 well, you see, this proves that all we should be talking about

00:19:38.100 is tax cuts.

00:19:38.680 That's all anyone cares about.

00:19:40.080 And we got to leave all this culture war stuff to the side.

00:19:43.620 But yesterday's results prove exactly the opposite.

00:19:47.140 Okay.

00:19:47.440 In areas where conservatives leaned into the culture war

00:19:50.820 and fought it openly

00:19:52.080 and effectively

00:19:54.400 and had a compelling cultural message,

00:19:56.900 they won.

00:19:58.460 Okay.

00:19:58.680 Florida, again, big example,

00:20:00.960 not just there.

00:20:03.140 You could also look to Texas.

00:20:05.600 I mean, look to the states

00:20:06.740 where they openly opposed gender ideology,

00:20:12.380 passed laws or policies

00:20:14.560 to at least try to curb, you know,

00:20:17.320 the abuse of children

00:20:18.500 that is inflicted by gender ideology. 1.00

00:20:20.760 In Florida, in Texas,

00:20:23.260 here in Tennessee,

00:20:25.280 Republicans did very well.

00:20:26.120 And then the school board races,

00:20:28.660 most tellingly of all.

00:20:31.480 Where the school board races,

00:20:32.380 it's all culture.

00:20:34.660 You know, it's opposing the left's cultural agenda

00:20:37.320 and indoctrination of children,

00:20:39.260 whether it's critical race theory

00:20:40.440 or radical gender theory 0.87

00:20:41.560 or whatever else.

00:20:42.840 You know, the assault on parental rights.

00:20:46.020 So the message is compelling.

00:20:47.760 It can win.

00:20:50.120 Even being handicapped by the fact

00:20:52.520 that Democrats have a massive advantage

00:20:54.120 with unmarried women,

00:20:54.840 and they have a massive advantage

00:20:56.160 politically with young people.

00:20:58.300 Even so, the cultural message wins.

00:21:00.980 But you have to convey it.

00:21:03.820 You have to fight for it.

00:21:04.600 You have to communicate it.

00:21:06.800 Most Republicans don't.

00:21:08.260 They shy away from it,

00:21:09.360 and then they lose.

00:21:12.980 Because the other thing is that you have to,

00:21:14.540 many voters,

00:21:15.800 they're not clued into these things,

00:21:18.200 and so you can't just expect them

00:21:19.880 to already agree with your cultural message.

00:21:21.940 If you want them to agree

00:21:22.660 with the cultural message,

00:21:23.400 you have to make the case.

00:21:24.940 You have to make the argument.

00:21:26.860 Explain why they should.

00:21:29.740 And what we find is that

00:21:30.880 when conservatives do that, they win.

00:21:32.920 When they don't, they lose.

00:21:34.620 Pretty simple.

00:21:36.200 You know, Biden certainly is taking this

00:21:37.660 as a crushing victory.

00:21:39.060 This is from the Daily Wire.

00:21:39.860 It says,

00:21:39.960 on Wednesday,

00:21:40.580 after most of the results

00:21:41.400 had been tabulated from Election Day,

00:21:43.200 President Biden declared

00:21:44.040 that he would do nothing differently

00:21:45.460 despite voters being disenchanted

00:21:47.060 with the direction of the country.

00:21:48.460 Earlier in his press conference,

00:21:49.540 Biden had stated that

00:21:50.460 the voters were also clear

00:21:51.720 that they're still frustrated.

00:21:53.260 I get it.

00:21:53.760 I understand it's been

00:21:54.460 a really tough few years

00:21:55.500 in this country for so many people.

00:21:57.300 But then a reporter,

00:21:58.020 noting Biden's comments

00:21:59.100 that voters were frustrated

00:22:00.160 in polls showing 75% of voters

00:22:01.980 believe in the country

00:22:02.540 is heading in the wrong direction,

00:22:03.680 asked Biden,

00:22:04.880 what in the next two years

00:22:05.880 do you intend to do differently

00:22:06.880 to change people's opinion

00:22:08.260 of the direction of the country,

00:22:09.580 particularly as you contemplate

00:22:10.620 a run for president in 2024?

00:22:12.660 Biden said,

00:22:13.720 nothing because they're just

00:22:15.480 finding out what we're doing.

00:22:17.040 The more they know

00:22:17.840 about what we're doing,

00:22:18.780 the more support there is.

00:22:20.820 I'm not going to change.

00:22:22.160 As a matter of fact,

00:22:23.080 you know,

00:22:23.580 there's some things

00:22:24.260 I want to change and add to.

00:22:25.340 For example,

00:22:25.880 we had passed the most bipartisan,

00:22:27.640 we passed the most extensive

00:22:28.700 gun legislation.

00:22:30.240 And I don't know why I'm reading,

00:22:31.480 I'm attempting to read Biden quotes

00:22:33.000 rather than just playing them for you.

00:22:34.520 We passed the most extensive

00:22:36.020 gun legislation anti,

00:22:37.760 you know,

00:22:38.680 rational gun policy in 30 years.

00:22:40.500 Wait,

00:22:40.740 anti-rational gun policy?

00:22:43.500 And,

00:22:43.880 but we didn't ban assault weapons.

00:22:45.660 I'm going to ban assault weapons,

00:22:46.980 so I'm not going to change the direction.

00:22:50.840 Well,

00:22:50.980 anyway,

00:22:52.040 we're going to restore,

00:22:54.240 restore the soul of the country,

00:22:56.700 begin to treat each other

00:22:57.560 with decency,

00:22:58.460 honor,

00:22:58.700 and integrity.

00:22:59.460 Oh,

00:22:59.540 there's that again.

00:23:00.640 Restore the soul.

00:23:01.860 Joe Biden is restoring our souls

00:23:03.700 because we are soulless

00:23:06.600 and they need to be restored.

00:23:07.420 Now,

00:23:07.520 it is true that in fact,

00:23:08.580 there are some voters

00:23:09.840 who are basically soulless.

00:23:11.160 Like,

00:23:11.300 for example,

00:23:11.660 the ones who voted in favor

00:23:12.860 of denying legal protections

00:23:14.400 to infants born alive

00:23:15.360 after an abortion.

00:23:16.520 I mean,

00:23:16.660 they are soulless,

00:23:17.600 but that's a problem

00:23:19.560 that goes beyond the ability

00:23:20.600 of the president

00:23:21.160 of the United States

00:23:21.820 to solve.

00:23:22.380 And anyway,

00:23:22.940 this president certainly

00:23:23.680 is not trying to solve

00:23:24.400 that particular problem.

00:23:25.100 So,

00:23:26.960 what this tells us

00:23:29.480 is that Biden

00:23:31.280 has learned exactly,

00:23:32.740 no,

00:23:32.920 the lesson he's taking,

00:23:34.560 even though 75% of voters

00:23:36.260 are saying that we're on the wrong,

00:23:37.820 we're going the wrong direction.

00:23:39.960 Biden and the Democrats

00:23:41.300 have bought into this idea

00:23:42.460 that because there was not

00:23:43.960 a massive red wave,

00:23:45.580 because Republicans

00:23:46.500 didn't win

00:23:47.420 by as much as expected

00:23:49.220 on,

00:23:50.560 in these national races,

00:23:51.800 that means

00:23:53.680 that the Democrat party

00:23:55.640 had a crushing,

00:23:57.180 cruising victory,

00:23:57.940 and now they have a mandate

00:23:59.160 to continue doing

00:24:00.000 exactly what they were

00:24:00.700 already doing.

00:24:01.600 That's the lesson

00:24:02.240 they're going to take,

00:24:03.000 which gives another advantage

00:24:04.020 to the Republicans

00:24:04.620 because the Democrats

00:24:05.720 are going to double down

00:24:06.680 on the wrong,

00:24:07.880 they're going to double down

00:24:08.620 on the crazy,

00:24:10.100 while being more hampered

00:24:11.400 in their ability

00:24:12.640 to actually enact it

00:24:13.820 because they're not going to have

00:24:14.540 the House of Representatives anymore.

00:24:16.420 They're going to double down

00:24:17.200 on that,

00:24:17.620 and that gives us an advantage

00:24:18.500 heading into 2024.

00:24:19.520 So that's another silver lining

00:24:20.680 we could look at.

00:24:21.220 He also,

00:24:22.600 Biden,

00:24:22.960 during the press conference,

00:24:23.700 was asked about the possibility

00:24:24.980 of investigating Elon Musk.

00:24:27.800 For what?

00:24:28.980 Well, maybe he'll explain,

00:24:30.860 and we'll see his answer.

00:24:31.760 Here it is.

00:24:33.240 Do you think Elon Musk

00:24:34.340 is a threat

00:24:35.080 to U.S. national security,

00:24:36.660 and should the U.S.,

00:24:38.620 and with the tools you have,

00:24:40.040 investigate his joint acquisition

00:24:42.460 of Twitter

00:24:43.040 with foreign governments,

00:24:44.280 which include the Saudis?

00:24:51.220 I think that Elon Musk's cooperation

00:25:01.440 and or technical relationships

00:25:08.000 with other countries

00:25:10.020 is worthy of being looked at.

00:25:15.720 Whether or not

00:25:16.740 he is doing anything inappropriate,

00:25:19.660 I'm not suggesting that.

00:25:21.080 I'm suggesting that

00:25:21.900 it's worth being looked at.

00:25:28.500 But that's all I'll say.

00:25:30.680 Yeah, we don't want to have

00:25:32.480 inappropriate relationships

00:25:33.420 with other countries,

00:25:34.160 he says,

00:25:34.720 as he ships another $15 billion,

00:25:36.980 $50 billion to Ukraine.

00:25:41.000 So they're going to,

00:25:41.960 he's looking at,

00:25:43.060 look at the possibility

00:25:44.320 of investigating Elon Musk

00:25:46.060 for taking over Twitter.

00:25:47.780 Like, but again,

00:25:49.680 what would even be

00:25:50.460 the pretense for that?

00:25:52.520 He doesn't have one.

00:25:54.240 The pretense is just that

00:25:55.620 Elon Musk is doing something

00:25:56.760 they don't like,

00:25:57.400 and so they're going to

00:25:57.840 investigate him.

00:25:58.420 They're going to send 0.91

00:25:58.700 the FBI after him.

00:26:00.140 I mean, this is,

00:26:00.700 this, this, we,

00:26:02.740 the word fascism

00:26:03.840 is vastly overused.

00:26:06.840 This is fascism.

00:26:08.100 That's what this is.

00:26:09.560 I don't know what it looks like.

00:26:10.720 It looks like the government

00:26:11.620 going after someone,

00:26:12.580 investigating them,

00:26:13.400 send the federal government

00:26:14.140 after them

00:26:14.620 because they just did something

00:26:16.720 that the government

00:26:17.680 doesn't like.

00:26:18.380 It's not illegal.

00:26:20.620 And at the same time,

00:26:21.540 I will say that,

00:26:22.420 you know, look,

00:26:23.940 we know the left

00:26:25.640 through the government,

00:26:27.540 advertisers,

00:26:28.240 and all of that,

00:26:29.500 they're putting a lot of pressure

00:26:30.540 on Elon Musk.

00:26:32.560 And the thing that

00:26:33.340 they're most concerned about,

00:26:34.280 I mean, they don't really care

00:26:35.260 who is in charge of Twitter.

00:26:37.140 It doesn't make a difference

00:26:37.560 to them who's in charge of Twitter.

00:26:39.100 They don't care about

00:26:39.500 any of the technical stuff, okay?

00:26:41.180 They don't care about

00:26:41.860 his relationships

00:26:42.500 with the Saudis.

00:26:45.100 Like anyone in our government

00:26:46.280 has any room

00:26:47.100 to complain about

00:26:48.280 problematic relationships

00:26:50.280 with the Saudis.

00:26:51.860 But that's not what

00:26:52.720 they care about.

00:26:53.640 What they care about

00:26:54.280 is the possibility

00:26:55.160 that Elon Musk

00:26:56.240 will actually turn Twitter

00:26:57.980 into a free speech haven

00:26:59.420 and allow people

00:27:00.520 to just express their ideas

00:27:01.960 and speak to each other.

00:27:03.280 That's what they don't want.

00:27:04.540 That's obviously

00:27:05.140 what they're worried about.

00:27:06.740 As long as Elon

00:27:07.700 doesn't do that,

00:27:08.840 then they will hold off.

00:27:10.760 So these are all

00:27:11.340 just threats.

00:27:12.260 What they're really saying

00:27:13.000 to Elon is,

00:27:13.620 you better keep

00:27:15.040 the content moderation

00:27:16.140 policies in place.

00:27:17.200 I don't care how you inform,

00:27:18.040 but they better stay in place

00:27:19.200 or this is what

00:27:20.100 we're going to do to you.

00:27:22.160 And that makes me

00:27:22.840 a little bit nervous

00:27:23.400 because then it becomes

00:27:25.700 a question of whether or not

00:27:26.600 Elon will succumb

00:27:27.800 to that pressure or not.

00:27:28.680 I hope he doesn't.

00:27:29.640 But I will say that,

00:27:30.660 and it's still early on,

00:27:32.040 but he's been in charge

00:27:34.420 of Twitter for a couple weeks now.

00:27:35.920 Content moderation policies

00:27:36.880 have stayed in place

00:27:37.640 as they were before.

00:27:38.500 You still get suspended

00:27:39.200 on Twitter for all the same

00:27:40.040 things you did before.

00:27:41.200 If you, quote,

00:27:42.080 misgender someone,

00:27:43.040 if you call the left groomers,

00:27:44.100 you get suspended for that.

00:27:45.920 All the accounts

00:27:46.740 that were unfairly banned,

00:27:48.160 still banned.

00:27:48.740 None of them have been

00:27:49.220 invited back yet.

00:27:51.600 And it's not like Elon

00:27:52.640 isn't making

00:27:53.300 massive sweeping changes.

00:27:54.640 I mean, just yesterday,

00:27:55.460 he instituted this policy

00:27:56.540 of, you know,

00:27:57.620 giving the blue check verification

00:27:58.860 to anybody who wants it

00:28:00.100 if they pay $8.

00:28:01.400 And I know that I was

00:28:02.260 on this show saying

00:28:03.160 that I think it's a good idea,

00:28:04.640 but, you know,

00:28:05.380 my thought was that,

00:28:07.540 okay, you're giving

00:28:08.100 the blue check verification

00:28:08.900 to people who verify

00:28:10.240 their identities

00:28:11.180 and so that we know

00:28:12.420 that these are real,

00:28:13.440 legitimate accounts

00:28:14.480 and these are not bots

00:28:16.300 or trolls or whatever.

00:28:18.200 And I assume

00:28:18.940 that's what verification

00:28:19.900 would be.

00:28:21.660 Like, you have to provide

00:28:22.420 an ID and do all this.

00:28:23.880 And I don't think

00:28:24.500 that you should have

00:28:24.860 to provide an ID

00:28:25.500 to use a social media platform,

00:28:26.680 but if you want

00:28:27.400 the verification,

00:28:28.220 if you want to be considered

00:28:28.780 a verified account,

00:28:30.260 then you have to go through

00:28:30.820 a process of verifying

00:28:31.720 your identity.

00:28:32.680 That's not what Musk did.

00:28:33.820 He's just,

00:28:34.060 as long as you pay him

00:28:35.340 the $8,

00:28:35.800 he'll give the blue check

00:28:36.780 to anyone.

00:28:37.220 And so now this supposedly

00:28:39.140 was supposed to be

00:28:39.660 a process put in place

00:28:40.740 to tamp down

00:28:41.980 on the bots and trolls.

00:28:43.100 He's only made it worse

00:28:43.860 because he gave them

00:28:44.540 all blue checks.

00:28:45.340 And so now there are

00:28:45.900 parody accounts,

00:28:47.160 people imitating

00:28:47.960 public figures

00:28:48.760 and they have the blue

00:28:49.400 check next to it.

00:28:50.420 It's just like total chaos

00:28:52.160 on Twitter now.

00:28:53.320 And it makes the whole,

00:28:54.400 it's a,

00:28:54.860 it makes the whole experience

00:28:55.960 even more chaotic

00:28:58.180 and it makes Twitter

00:28:59.020 more unusable

00:28:59.800 than it was before.

00:29:01.440 And I know on this show,

00:29:02.520 I said,

00:29:02.840 I said that I kind of

00:29:03.660 like the idea of opening

00:29:04.460 up the verification process.

00:29:05.400 But again,

00:29:05.840 I said that on,

00:29:07.200 on the thought,

00:29:07.960 the assumption

00:29:08.380 that the verification process

00:29:10.200 would,

00:29:10.520 would involve

00:29:11.220 some kind of actual

00:29:12.300 verification

00:29:12.980 and it doesn't.

00:29:13.800 So the point is,

00:29:16.800 you know,

00:29:18.460 that not any kind of

00:29:19.820 urgent national issue,

00:29:21.480 I understand.

00:29:22.740 The fact that Twitter

00:29:23.580 is more confusing

00:29:24.260 and they're giving

00:29:24.800 blue checks to everybody,

00:29:25.860 you know,

00:29:26.140 I think the average American

00:29:27.180 probably isn't all

00:29:27.860 that concerned about that,

00:29:28.500 but that's a major change

00:29:31.120 that Elon has made

00:29:32.100 right away.

00:29:34.840 But that's not the kind

00:29:35.660 of major change

00:29:36.340 that we were hoping for.

00:29:38.560 So the major changes

00:29:40.260 that we're looking for

00:29:41.220 are the changes

00:29:42.240 to content moderation

00:29:43.380 and censorship.

00:29:44.860 And he hasn't touched

00:29:45.520 that yet.

00:29:47.000 We'll see if he does.

00:29:47.920 But as I said,

00:29:48.640 I'm a little bit nervous

00:29:49.200 about that.

00:29:51.480 All right,

00:29:51.940 we have some,

00:29:52.740 we have some AOC clips

00:29:54.520 to play for you.

00:29:55.020 These are always fun.

00:29:55.660 So first of all,

00:29:56.400 she issued an apology

00:29:57.420 on Instagram

00:29:58.060 a couple of days ago.

00:29:59.980 And I just thought

00:30:01.120 that I should play this for you.

00:30:02.380 Here's what she's

00:30:02.760 apologizing for.

00:30:04.920 Oh,

00:30:05.400 I'm sorry about that.

00:30:06.380 They used to be on there.

00:30:07.600 Let me go in and check

00:30:08.740 and see if I can add them.

00:30:10.680 Sorry about that.

00:30:11.840 They used to be there.

00:30:12.880 I guess they fell off,

00:30:14.120 but I'll put them on right now.

00:30:16.680 So she's apologizing

00:30:18.120 that she didn't have

00:30:19.400 pronouns in her bio.

00:30:21.640 Somebody,

00:30:22.000 one of her followers

00:30:23.120 were upset at her

00:30:23.900 for not having pronouns.

00:30:26.560 Even though,

00:30:27.540 presumably,

00:30:27.820 all the followers know

00:30:28.440 that she's a woman.

00:30:29.160 So they know that.

00:30:30.240 But they need her to say it.

00:30:31.640 They need to have the pronouns.

00:30:32.600 They know what their pronouns are.

00:30:33.720 They just need them listed.

00:30:34.840 They need her to

00:30:35.960 pay the tithe,

00:30:37.940 basically.

00:30:38.660 And that's what they need.

00:30:39.700 They need the virtue signal.

00:30:41.400 And so she apologizes

00:30:42.440 and says that she'll

00:30:43.220 put it back up.

00:30:45.100 Perhaps more relevant,

00:30:46.220 she was on the,

00:30:47.680 I think this is,

00:30:48.220 what is this,

00:30:48.520 the Breakfast Club,

00:30:50.060 talking about the issue

00:30:50.980 of crime.

00:30:51.900 And she's getting

00:30:56.800 chicken and egg confused

00:30:57.980 a little bit here,

00:30:58.580 I think.

00:30:58.980 Let's listen to this.

00:31:00.860 A lot of people think

00:31:02.240 that crime is up

00:31:03.180 when we actually see

00:31:04.660 that shootings are down,

00:31:06.540 when we see that

00:31:07.460 huge indicators

00:31:08.980 on the most violent crime

00:31:10.540 in New York City

00:31:11.060 is down.

00:31:11.880 Subway crime is up.

00:31:13.320 But let's also note

00:31:14.260 that subway crime is up

00:31:15.480 after they committed

00:31:17.000 so many more officers

00:31:19.240 to the subway system.

00:31:20.940 So that also tells us

00:31:21.760 from a policy perspective,

00:31:23.540 adding more cops

00:31:24.380 to the subway

00:31:24.760 isn't solving this problem.

00:31:25.880 So there are other things

00:31:26.780 that can solve this problem.

00:31:29.900 Right.

00:31:30.400 So add more cops

00:31:31.360 to the subway

00:31:31.800 and then I guess

00:31:33.040 she is claiming

00:31:33.640 that because of that

00:31:34.900 you end up

00:31:36.000 with more crime.

00:31:38.760 As if, what,

00:31:39.520 the criminals are

00:31:40.220 looking for places

00:31:41.140 where the cops are

00:31:41.900 just to give them

00:31:42.480 a challenge?

00:31:44.460 No.

00:31:45.160 Most criminals are,

00:31:46.940 here's the thing

00:31:47.420 about being a criminal,

00:31:48.560 okay?

00:31:48.700 Not that I have

00:31:50.500 a ton of experience

00:31:51.160 in this area,

00:31:51.700 but most criminals 1.00

00:31:53.200 are cowards, 1.00

00:31:55.920 first of all, 0.99

00:31:57.060 okay?

00:31:57.340 Because they're

00:31:58.840 victimizing innocent people.

00:32:00.260 That's what a crime is. 0.98

00:32:01.820 And also they're lazy. 0.56

00:32:03.420 You know,

00:32:03.640 they're looking for opportunities. 0.94

00:32:05.100 They're lazy 1.00

00:32:05.640 and they're cowards. 1.00

00:32:08.480 Either that 1.00

00:32:09.080 or they're insane 1.00

00:32:09.920 and hopped up on drugs. 0.95

00:32:11.040 I mean,

00:32:11.220 they could be

00:32:11.600 all of those things.

00:32:13.260 So if they're insane

00:32:14.120 and hopped up on drugs,

00:32:15.160 then, you know,

00:32:16.160 they're not going to be

00:32:17.360 immediately dissuaded

00:32:18.340 just by cops being there,

00:32:20.500 but at least

00:32:20.760 if the cops are there,

00:32:21.600 then they can put a stop

00:32:22.520 to it,

00:32:23.040 you would hope,

00:32:23.760 in theory,

00:32:24.560 and arrest the people.

00:32:26.540 But the rest,

00:32:28.240 yeah,

00:32:28.400 if the cops are there,

00:32:29.520 then they're going to go

00:32:30.160 and they're going to look

00:32:30.500 for someone else.

00:32:30.980 They're looking for

00:32:31.680 an opportunity.

00:32:34.020 Now,

00:32:34.420 on the subway,

00:32:35.300 and also,

00:32:36.320 you put more cops there,

00:32:38.220 if that's not

00:32:39.100 bringing the crime rate

00:32:40.860 down in that environment,

00:32:42.760 that might mean

00:32:43.260 that you need

00:32:43.580 more law enforcement,

00:32:44.500 or we might have

00:32:45.900 to look at

00:32:46.420 are the law enforcement

00:32:47.280 officers actually doing it?

00:32:48.100 Are they enabled

00:32:48.640 to do their job?

00:32:49.340 Yeah,

00:32:49.500 you have them there.

00:32:50.800 There were cops

00:32:51.300 all over the place

00:32:52.040 during the BLM riots.

00:32:53.540 The cops were everywhere.

00:32:54.660 You could throw a rock

00:32:56.880 and hit a cop,

00:32:57.500 and that's what

00:32:57.840 the BLM rioters 0.58

00:32:59.140 were actually doing.

00:33:00.460 They're there,

00:33:01.060 but they weren't

00:33:01.340 allowed to do anything.

00:33:02.300 They were just

00:33:02.640 sitting on their hands.

00:33:03.680 So you have to

00:33:04.480 have them there

00:33:05.160 and have them

00:33:05.460 the power to do

00:33:05.920 their jobs.

00:33:07.800 But also,

00:33:08.420 on the subway in particular,

00:33:09.280 a lot of that crime,

00:33:10.200 this is being driven

00:33:11.060 by the homeless,

00:33:13.820 drug-addicted, 1.00

00:33:14.340 crazy people. 0.99

00:33:16.140 And yeah, 0.80

00:33:16.640 they're not going

00:33:17.020 to be immediately

00:33:17.440 dissuaded by the fact

00:33:18.280 that there are cops around

00:33:18.880 because they're on drugs 1.00

00:33:19.960 and they're crazy. 0.89

00:33:21.840 Still good to have 0.59

00:33:22.440 the cops there,

00:33:22.980 though,

00:33:23.480 if they're unable

00:33:24.740 to do their jobs.

00:33:27.100 All right.

00:33:28.360 I was going to play

00:33:28.980 another AOC clip,

00:33:29.780 but I think we've

00:33:30.160 probably seen enough.

00:33:30.880 I don't think

00:33:31.120 you need to see more.

00:33:32.680 CNBC gives us

00:33:33.560 an update on

00:33:34.500 Biden's student loan

00:33:36.200 forgiveness.

00:33:36.920 So we know that

00:33:37.360 the loan forgiveness

00:33:38.360 was passed,

00:33:39.600 and well,

00:33:40.640 sorry,

00:33:41.060 it was not passed

00:33:42.020 makes it sound

00:33:42.420 like it was legislation.

00:33:43.260 It wasn't.

00:33:43.600 It was decreed

00:33:44.420 and illegally,

00:33:47.260 unconstitutionally.

00:33:49.260 And whatever

00:33:49.840 happened with that?

00:33:50.900 You know,

00:33:51.180 are there a lot

00:33:52.160 of people,

00:33:54.180 college graduates

00:33:54.980 that had student loans

00:33:56.300 and they've been able

00:33:56.840 to pay them off

00:33:57.540 or they've been able

00:33:58.220 to pay into that principle

00:33:59.880 and, you know,

00:34:01.500 and have some

00:34:02.260 financial stability?

00:34:03.480 Well, let's find out.

00:34:05.780 Recipients of

00:34:06.440 President Biden's

00:34:07.320 student debt

00:34:07.920 forgiveness plan

00:34:08.700 could see their

00:34:09.220 monthly payments drop

00:34:10.320 up to $300 a month

00:34:11.760 in the coming weeks.

00:34:12.640 But get this,

00:34:13.660 73% say they actually

00:34:15.840 plan to spend

00:34:16.680 that extra cash

00:34:17.500 on travel

00:34:18.160 and dining out.

00:34:19.360 And joining us now

00:34:19.940 is the NBC Tech

00:34:20.800 Check co-anchor

00:34:21.640 Deirdre Bosa.

00:34:22.720 So, Deirdre,

00:34:23.600 why are people

00:34:24.140 more inclined

00:34:24.600 to spend the money

00:34:25.260 they're saving

00:34:25.860 on non-essentials

00:34:27.060 instead of paying

00:34:27.540 off their bills?

00:34:28.100 I think we may

00:34:28.620 know the answer.

00:34:30.400 Well, that could be

00:34:31.580 according to one survey,

00:34:32.680 but, you know,

00:34:33.240 it could be easy as well

00:34:34.220 for some people

00:34:34.980 to enjoy traveling

00:34:35.880 and eating out

00:34:36.660 rather than worrying

00:34:37.680 about the future.

00:34:38.380 One Financial Coach

00:34:39.620 tells CNBC.com

00:34:40.780 that you should

00:34:41.380 not use the loan

00:34:42.580 forgiveness only

00:34:43.540 for long-term goals.

00:34:44.780 Your short-term self

00:34:46.160 may get frustrated

00:34:46.980 and give up on

00:34:47.940 planning ahead altogether.

00:34:49.720 So instead,

00:34:50.540 they say,

00:34:51.160 make sure your

00:34:51.820 regular bills are paid,

00:34:52.940 check in on your goals,

00:34:54.040 and try to achieve

00:34:54.800 a balance that also

00:34:55.820 lets you invest

00:34:56.580 in your future self.

00:34:57.560 Oh, okay, good.

00:34:59.980 Yeah, well,

00:35:00.360 because, yeah,

00:35:00.860 you don't want to

00:35:01.140 plan for the future

00:35:01.600 too much,

00:35:02.080 and that might

00:35:02.500 make you frustrated.

00:35:04.060 And so you really

00:35:04.560 just want to make sure

00:35:05.040 that you can enjoy

00:35:05.620 the moment

00:35:06.060 and have good mental health

00:35:07.160 and have a nice night

00:35:08.080 out on the town.

00:35:10.080 That's good financial advice.

00:35:13.060 Never mind the fact

00:35:13.680 that you're stealing

00:35:15.220 that money

00:35:15.820 from American taxpayers

00:35:17.380 so that you can just go

00:35:19.020 and have a nice dinner

00:35:20.480 or go on a vacation.

00:35:21.680 Like, CNBC is reporting it

00:35:25.240 like, oh,

00:35:25.700 that's an interesting,

00:35:27.400 fun little tidbit.

00:35:29.320 So we are taking money

00:35:30.900 from hardworking,

00:35:32.700 blue-collar Americans

00:35:33.580 who didn't go to college,

00:35:35.220 made different choices,

00:35:36.420 made better choices,

00:35:37.340 actually.

00:35:38.840 Many of them said,

00:35:39.840 I can't afford college,

00:35:40.580 so I'm not going to go

00:35:41.280 and try to pay.

00:35:41.820 I'm not going to take out

00:35:42.900 a loan I can't afford,

00:35:44.220 as opposed to the college graduates

00:35:45.560 who went ahead

00:35:46.160 and did that.

00:35:47.820 And now we're taking money

00:35:48.660 from them.

00:35:49.540 It was bad enough

00:35:50.400 when we're taking money

00:35:51.000 from them

00:35:51.320 to pay off

00:35:52.260 the financial obligations.

00:35:53.540 You're paying off

00:35:53.960 someone else's

00:35:54.500 financial obligation.

00:35:55.740 You're paying for,

00:35:56.660 you know,

00:35:56.900 a commitment

00:35:57.340 that someone else made.

00:35:59.020 And then we find out,

00:36:00.160 not surprisingly,

00:36:01.960 that you're not even

00:36:02.520 paying off that commitment

00:36:03.600 or that obligation

00:36:04.400 because they're just

00:36:05.100 going off and wasting

00:36:05.780 the money elsewhere.

00:36:09.280 It's,

00:36:09.880 I mean,

00:36:10.280 it is actually

00:36:11.520 an absolute moral outrage.

00:36:15.700 Taking money from,

00:36:16.900 you know,

00:36:19.460 working class people

00:36:20.700 so that upper-class

00:36:23.060 college grads

00:36:24.220 can go on vacation.

00:36:25.540 I cannot think of,

00:36:26.700 it's hard to think of

00:36:27.300 something more outrageous

00:36:27.900 than that.

00:36:29.980 And,

00:36:30.460 you know,

00:36:31.100 again,

00:36:31.760 not a,

00:36:32.640 this is a feature,

00:36:33.700 not a bug.

00:36:35.460 Of course,

00:36:35.900 the Biden administration

00:36:36.380 knew this was going to happen.

00:36:37.180 They're fine with it.

00:36:40.040 And it's totally predictable,

00:36:41.420 too,

00:36:41.600 because

00:36:41.920 this is all,

00:36:44.240 this all feeds into

00:36:45.020 this entitlement mentality.

00:36:46.060 You know,

00:36:47.960 the people that were calling

00:36:48.760 for student loan forgiveness

00:36:49.640 in the first place, 0.92

00:36:50.280 all of them entitled brats. 0.71

00:36:52.560 Every single person 0.80

00:36:53.460 calling for loan forgiveness,

00:36:55.380 saying that

00:36:56.240 the loan that I took out,

00:36:57.920 the obligation that I have,

00:36:59.160 the commitment that I made,

00:37:00.480 should be paid for

00:37:01.340 by someone else 0.77

00:37:02.400 because I don't give a damn

00:37:03.720 about those other people. 0.99

00:37:05.280 I'll take food out of their mouths. 0.99

00:37:06.720 I'll take food out of their children. 0.95

00:37:07.620 I'll take food off of their,

00:37:08.500 off of their children's plate

00:37:09.980 for,

00:37:11.000 for me

00:37:11.480 because of the commitment

00:37:12.140 that I made

00:37:12.800 that I don't feel like

00:37:14.020 living up to.

00:37:16.140 So every single person

00:37:17.020 calling for that,

00:37:17.720 all of them,

00:37:18.680 every single one 0.94

00:37:19.380 entitled spoiled brats.

00:37:23.340 Is it a big surprise then 0.97

00:37:24.540 that you give them the money

00:37:25.280 and then they just go waste it?

00:37:27.240 That's what entitled 0.89

00:37:27.920 spoiled brats do. 1.00

00:37:29.140 And you know something? 0.70

00:37:29.840 They're going to go waste the money

00:37:30.940 and they're still going to have

00:37:32.200 the student loan,

00:37:32.980 which they have not paid down at all.

00:37:34.760 And now they're going to go

00:37:35.520 back to Biden

00:37:36.360 and say,

00:37:37.360 well, we need more

00:37:37.860 loan forgiveness.

00:37:38.360 This isn't fair.

00:37:41.060 I took the money.

00:37:42.100 I went to Cancun

00:37:42.760 and now I,

00:37:43.300 but I still have

00:37:43.660 the student loan forgiveness.

00:37:44.920 I still have the student loan.

00:37:45.980 I'm,

00:37:46.180 I'm,

00:37:46.640 I'm crushed by the burden

00:37:47.780 of this debt.

00:37:48.460 Feel sorry for me.

00:37:51.780 And then Biden

00:37:52.400 will just give them more money.

00:37:54.720 That's the way these works.

00:37:56.080 All right.

00:37:56.440 This is from the Daily Wire.

00:37:58.840 It says,

00:37:59.160 former president Donald Trump

00:38:00.100 tried to downplay

00:38:01.140 Florida governor Ron DeSantis'

00:38:02.440 dominant election victory

00:38:03.500 on Tuesday night,

00:38:04.300 claiming that his victory

00:38:05.240 in 2020 in Florida

00:38:06.260 was more impressive

00:38:08.340 than DeSantis' victory

00:38:09.460 last night,

00:38:10.060 even though facts

00:38:10.700 do not support that notion.

00:38:12.660 Trump said on social media,

00:38:13.780 quote,

00:38:14.900 now that the election

00:38:15.540 in Florida is over

00:38:16.280 and everything went quite well,

00:38:18.060 shouldn't it be said

00:38:18.620 that in 2020,

00:38:19.400 I got 1.1 million

00:38:20.680 more votes in Florida

00:38:21.520 than Ron D got this year,

00:38:23.000 5.7 million

00:38:23.860 to 4.6 million.

00:38:25.840 Just asking.

00:38:28.740 And this is,

00:38:29.580 you know,

00:38:29.760 this is in line

00:38:30.400 with what Trump

00:38:31.700 has been doing

00:38:32.160 before the election,

00:38:33.240 Ron DeSantis,

00:38:33.720 and then he was out

00:38:35.060 threatening

00:38:35.580 to dig up dirt

00:38:37.900 on Ron DeSantis.

00:38:38.920 That's what he was doing.

00:38:39.500 While the election

00:38:40.060 was going on,

00:38:40.600 he was making that threat

00:38:41.500 and now he's saying,

00:38:42.940 I got more votes

00:38:43.660 than Ron DeSantis.

00:38:45.340 And of course,

00:38:46.340 that's a meaningless statistic.

00:38:49.300 More people vote

00:38:50.100 in presidential elections

00:38:52.000 than vote

00:38:52.380 in midterm elections.

00:38:54.120 Actually,

00:38:55.240 the turnoff

00:38:56.320 for Ron DeSantis,

00:38:57.100 when you compare it,

00:38:57.880 when you say

00:38:58.220 that he was only

00:38:58.720 a million less

00:38:59.740 than would show up

00:39:00.660 during a presidential election,

00:39:01.520 that's really impressive.

00:39:04.380 But beyond that,

00:39:05.300 I know that there are people

00:39:05.980 in the audience

00:39:06.560 that you just,

00:39:07.520 you don't want to hear

00:39:08.040 the criticism of Donald Trump.

00:39:09.420 It makes you very upset.

00:39:12.480 Well,

00:39:12.880 you just,

00:39:13.240 you got to get used to it

00:39:14.240 because he's,

00:39:15.380 if he's going to run

00:39:16.000 for president,

00:39:16.660 he's going to get criticized.

00:39:17.840 Politicians get criticized.

00:39:18.900 This is not 2016 anymore.

00:39:20.440 We're not doing the whole thing

00:39:21.520 where you're not allowed

00:39:22.020 to criticize the guy.

00:39:23.160 We never should have done

00:39:23.780 that to the game.

00:39:24.240 I never played that game,

00:39:25.180 but no one ever

00:39:25.720 should have played that game.

00:39:26.980 No one is above criticism.

00:39:28.360 And if you're a politician,

00:39:30.020 if you're a candidate,

00:39:30.720 if you're president

00:39:31.100 of the United States,

00:39:32.220 you deserve scrutiny.

00:39:35.200 You need to be scrutinized.

00:39:37.140 And if you want Trump

00:39:38.340 to be president,

00:39:39.040 that's all the more reason

00:39:39.920 why you should encourage

00:39:40.920 the scrutiny.

00:39:43.920 And when he screws up,

00:39:45.940 you should criticize him

00:39:47.140 on the hope that he'll change

00:39:49.100 and stop screwing up

00:39:50.020 and be a better candidate.

00:39:52.420 And so,

00:39:52.960 the fact of the matter is here,

00:39:55.640 I mean,

00:39:55.940 leaving aside everything

00:39:56.740 about how he's just like

00:39:57.620 going after

00:39:58.220 the most popular

00:39:59.760 and effective Republicans

00:40:01.760 in the country

00:40:02.240 because he's jealous,

00:40:03.020 but just from a political standpoint,

00:40:06.440 from a branding,

00:40:07.940 marketing,

00:40:08.440 that kind of thing,

00:40:09.240 campaigning standpoint,

00:40:11.620 it just looks weak.

00:40:13.560 He looks weak

00:40:14.520 and pitiful right now

00:40:15.540 because he's throwing

00:40:16.440 all these pot shots

00:40:17.560 at a winning Republican

00:40:20.340 while that guy ignores him.

00:40:23.840 Now,

00:40:24.000 it's one thing

00:40:24.500 eventually if they both

00:40:26.040 are running

00:40:26.400 and they both run

00:40:27.140 in the primary,

00:40:27.760 they are going to go

00:40:29.220 after each other.

00:40:29.840 That's going to happen.

00:40:32.820 And so,

00:40:33.240 Ron DeSantis,

00:40:33.780 if they're running

00:40:34.120 in the primary,

00:40:34.560 he can't go the entire time

00:40:35.480 without ever responding

00:40:36.180 to Donald Trump.

00:40:36.880 But right now,

00:40:38.260 this is the smartest thing

00:40:39.320 because he's busy

00:40:39.940 governing and winning

00:40:41.080 and so he's just

00:40:41.880 ignoring Trump

00:40:42.720 and Trump continues

00:40:44.180 to snipe at him

00:40:45.000 and it just looks weak.

00:40:47.500 And Trump cannot afford

00:40:49.480 to look weak.

00:40:50.580 That's not his brand.

00:40:51.580 His brand is not

00:40:52.240 to be desperate and weak.

00:40:56.560 His brand also

00:40:57.760 is usually not

00:40:58.720 to hit first.

00:41:01.220 That's not what he does.

00:41:03.480 You know,

00:41:03.620 he usually takes

00:41:04.540 the alpha dog position

00:41:06.600 of I'm not going

00:41:07.300 to go after you.

00:41:07.880 Like, 0.77

00:41:08.040 you're too small

00:41:08.920 to bother going after you. 0.89

00:41:10.540 If you go after me,

00:41:11.780 I'll come after you. 0.99

00:41:12.700 I'll hit back twice as hard. 0.97

00:41:15.280 But I'm not going

00:41:16.020 to just walk out there

00:41:16.840 flailing around,

00:41:17.760 flailing my arms

00:41:18.400 and hitting everything in sight.

00:41:19.640 That was Trump's brand before.

00:41:21.360 And it was extremely effective

00:41:23.360 and compelling,

00:41:24.100 obviously.

00:41:25.380 It's one of the things

00:41:25.900 that made him president

00:41:26.540 in 2016.

00:41:28.680 But now he's,

00:41:30.100 he is doing

00:41:33.360 what people do to him.

00:41:36.420 Like,

00:41:36.860 there's Trump derangement syndrome.

00:41:38.140 Well,

00:41:38.260 he is now

00:41:39.420 exhibiting

00:41:40.460 DeSantis derangement syndrome.

00:41:42.540 He's constantly attacking

00:41:43.940 this guy

00:41:44.280 while he is ignored.

00:41:47.240 And it does not look good.

00:41:49.760 It looks weak.

00:41:50.740 OK,

00:41:52.600 so the criticism here

00:41:53.380 is this is not about,

00:41:54.160 oh, 0.97

00:41:54.180 Trump's being an a-hole. 0.98

00:41:55.100 Like, 0.99

00:41:56.140 I don't care about that.

00:41:58.420 That is his brand.

00:41:59.960 And how could I complain?

00:42:01.260 That's partly my brand too.

00:42:02.280 So who am I

00:42:03.420 to criticize

00:42:03.920 a fellow a-hole? 0.85

00:42:05.160 But

00:42:05.280 that's not the issue.

00:42:07.320 The issue is looking 0.99

00:42:08.120 weak and pathetic, 0.98

00:42:09.580 which is what it looks 1.00

00:42:10.900 like right now.

00:42:12.660 And if you do want

00:42:13.640 Trump to be the guy

00:42:14.320 in 2024

00:42:14.800 and you don't want

00:42:16.100 DeSantis to be the guy,

00:42:17.600 then you should

00:42:19.900 especially

00:42:20.620 be, like,

00:42:22.680 crying out right now

00:42:23.740 to Trump,

00:42:24.940 stop looking weak,

00:42:26.100 settle down,

00:42:26.760 stop this.

00:42:30.880 Just my advice.

00:42:32.840 All right,

00:42:33.140 let's get to the comment section.

00:42:34.440 If you're a man,

00:42:35.940 it's required

00:42:36.640 that you grow a bit.

00:42:38.100 Hey,

00:42:39.780 we're the sweet baby gang.

00:42:44.680 David says,

00:42:45.660 thank you for saying

00:42:46.300 what needed to be said

00:42:47.080 about the voters.

00:42:47.980 We have way too many people

00:42:49.380 voting who should not

00:42:50.380 be allowed to.

00:42:51.140 We have so many voters 0.99

00:42:52.080 who are brain damaged. 0.97

00:42:53.560 Well,

00:42:54.560 yeah,

00:42:54.780 and that explains

00:42:55.280 how they vote 0.53

00:42:55.900 for brain damaged people 0.87

00:42:56.980 if they're brain damaged

00:42:57.720 themselves.

00:42:58.800 Well,

00:42:59.220 you know,

00:42:59.420 David,

00:42:59.640 I've never been hesitant

00:43:00.620 about criticizing the voters.

00:43:02.680 I mean,

00:43:02.760 I'm open about

00:43:03.960 the fact that,

00:43:05.520 as I'm always

00:43:06.100 advocating,

00:43:07.880 you know,

00:43:08.060 there should be

00:43:08.660 fewer people voting.

00:43:09.960 It should be harder to vote.

00:43:11.340 There should be parameters

00:43:12.280 put in place

00:43:13.080 to weed out people

00:43:14.120 who are 0.54

00:43:14.760 effectively brain damaged.

00:43:17.660 And

00:43:17.940 if you cared about

00:43:20.380 your republic,

00:43:21.460 if you cared about

00:43:22.160 the precious democracy

00:43:23.760 that is supposedly

00:43:24.920 under attack,

00:43:25.740 then that's what

00:43:26.300 you would want.

00:43:27.040 That's how you preserve it

00:43:28.460 and that's how you protect it.

00:43:30.140 You protect it

00:43:30.980 from the masses 1.00

00:43:31.720 of morons 1.00

00:43:33.220 stumbling 1.00

00:43:34.620 into the polls

00:43:35.640 having no idea,

00:43:37.640 you know,

00:43:38.500 rubbing their eyes

00:43:39.800 at the sunlight.

00:43:42.660 First time they've left

00:43:43.340 their homes.

00:43:44.320 They've been in a cave,

00:43:45.420 you know,

00:43:45.740 effectively.

00:43:47.760 I have no idea

00:43:48.480 what's going on

00:43:49.000 in the world

00:43:49.400 or who they're voting for

00:43:50.700 or why.

00:43:51.640 Stumbling in there

00:43:52.420 drunkenly, 1.00

00:43:53.220 stupidly, 1.00

00:43:54.620 randomly casting ballots. 1.00

00:43:55.800 Like,

00:43:56.620 if you want to protect

00:43:57.820 your republic

00:43:58.440 and your democratic system,

00:44:01.280 then you've got to

00:44:02.540 protect it from that.

00:44:05.760 But that's not

00:44:06.700 a conversation

00:44:07.100 very many people

00:44:07.600 want to have.

00:44:09.340 Two Sides,

00:44:10.420 One Stone says,

00:44:12.620 so will suing the parents

00:44:13.980 prevent kids

00:44:14.720 from being shipped

00:44:15.400 to California

00:44:16.160 for procedures?

00:44:17.080 You can't sue

00:44:17.620 those doctors,

00:44:18.360 but if you can still

00:44:19.160 sue legal residents

00:44:20.140 of Tennessee,

00:44:21.460 then the parents

00:44:21.980 won't ship their children

00:44:22.860 out of the state,

00:44:23.620 so it's extra protection.

00:44:24.960 Yeah,

00:44:25.180 I imagine with the law

00:44:26.420 that's getting passed

00:44:26.980 here in Tennessee,

00:44:27.760 protecting children

00:44:28.420 from gender mutilation

00:44:29.540 and from being drugged

00:44:31.820 and mutilated.

00:44:33.360 As we discussed yesterday,

00:44:34.640 that bill,

00:44:35.500 Bill 1 of the session

00:44:37.200 was officially filed

00:44:38.160 yesterday in Tennessee,

00:44:39.400 and not only

00:44:41.900 does it ban

00:44:43.020 the medical practice,

00:44:44.100 not only does it

00:44:45.020 allow victims

00:44:45.720 to sue

00:44:46.340 so-called healthcare

00:44:47.980 providers

00:44:48.480 who inflict this

00:44:49.860 on them,

00:44:51.060 but it also allows

00:44:52.000 for kids

00:44:53.440 to sue their parents,

00:44:54.680 too,

00:44:55.780 if their parents

00:44:56.620 send them in 0.99

00:44:58.180 to be butchered. 0.99

00:45:00.440 And, yeah, 0.98

00:45:01.080 I would imagine

00:45:01.580 if you're a parent

00:45:03.680 shipping your kid 0.54

00:45:04.860 anywhere,

00:45:05.280 and you live in Tennessee,

00:45:06.660 shipping them anywhere 0.92

00:45:07.300 to get butchered,

00:45:08.480 then, yeah,

00:45:09.760 you're liable

00:45:10.140 to get sued.

00:45:12.440 Ariana says, 0.55

00:45:13.300 wow,

00:45:13.760 love the look today,

00:45:14.800 Matt,

00:45:15.140 clothes and hair

00:45:15.940 looking dang good.

00:45:17.740 Well,

00:45:17.940 I really wish

00:45:18.280 you hadn't said that

00:45:19.480 because that was

00:45:20.040 the tan jacket

00:45:20.820 I was wearing yesterday,

00:45:22.460 and right after the show,

00:45:24.680 I did march into

00:45:25.680 our wardrobe department

00:45:26.800 and tell them,

00:45:28.360 never give me

00:45:28.840 this tan jacket,

00:45:29.600 burn this tan jacket,

00:45:30.860 I never want

00:45:31.140 to see it again.

00:45:31.820 Actually,

00:45:32.320 those were my words,

00:45:33.120 exactly.

00:45:34.600 And,

00:45:35.240 because I just don't,

00:45:36.960 a tan jacket

00:45:37.600 doesn't look good at all.

00:45:38.960 I'm not a tan jacket guy.

00:45:41.480 And,

00:45:41.760 but you know what,

00:45:43.320 I said that,

00:45:44.420 I don't like the tan jacket.

00:45:46.520 And then the immediate

00:45:47.360 question back to me was,

00:45:48.420 oh,

00:45:48.960 was the audience

00:45:49.800 making fun

00:45:50.440 of your outfit again?

00:45:51.260 And I said,

00:45:53.620 I said,

00:45:54.120 it's like I'm a child

00:45:55.260 coming home from the bus stop

00:45:56.460 in tears.

00:45:57.140 Your mom's like,

00:45:57.760 were they making fun

00:45:58.480 of you again?

00:45:59.940 No,

00:46:00.140 they weren't making fun of me.

00:46:01.100 This is my own decision.

00:46:02.460 I don't like the jacket.

00:46:03.560 I don't make every decision

00:46:04.640 about what I wear

00:46:05.860 based on what the audience says.

00:46:07.120 And then the next question was,

00:46:08.120 oh,

00:46:08.260 so your wife didn't like it. 0.92

00:46:09.080 Your wife told you it's bad.

00:46:10.060 No,

00:46:10.420 I'm saying it.

00:46:11.980 This is about my body,

00:46:13.580 my choice.

00:46:14.140 This is about my choice

00:46:15.140 about what I wear.

00:46:17.100 I can actually make

00:46:17.960 those kinds of decisions

00:46:18.720 sometimes.

00:46:19.220 Now,

00:46:22.260 I mean,

00:46:22.500 it's true.

00:46:23.160 Usually,

00:46:23.680 if I'm expressing

00:46:24.700 an opinion

00:46:25.100 about what I'm wearing,

00:46:26.960 usually it's because

00:46:28.940 my wife said,

00:46:29.940 this looks better on you.

00:46:30.660 So that is like 99%

00:46:31.740 of the time.

00:46:32.160 But every once in a while,

00:46:33.620 I actually develop

00:46:34.900 my own perspective

00:46:35.980 about style

00:46:37.780 and the things

00:46:38.640 that I wear.

00:46:40.740 And this is in that.

00:46:41.860 This is the 1% of times

00:46:43.140 where that's the case.

00:46:44.940 All right.

00:46:46.600 Fletcher says,

00:46:48.520 bro,

00:46:48.740 if Florida wasn't

00:46:49.500 such a bug-infested

00:46:50.520 hellhole with air

00:46:51.680 so humid

00:46:52.300 you could swim

00:46:52.940 through it,

00:46:53.460 I'd totally move.

00:46:55.960 Yeah,

00:46:56.360 I kind of feel

00:46:56.760 the same way.

00:46:57.200 Well,

00:46:57.380 I love living in Tennessee.

00:46:58.260 Tennessee is great too,

00:46:59.220 but I certainly would never,

00:47:03.820 I could never move

00:47:04.520 to Florida

00:47:04.940 even if I wanted to

00:47:06.160 because of,

00:47:07.000 right,

00:47:07.240 the weather just doesn't.

00:47:08.520 I need the seasons.

00:47:10.280 Can't deal with the humidity.

00:47:15.300 Jennifer says,

00:47:16.200 kind of related,

00:47:16.700 Matt,

00:47:17.120 what is your take

00:47:17.700 on move to a red state?

00:47:19.140 I'm in Minnesota

00:47:19.820 and it seems to be

00:47:20.620 turning into a deep blue state

00:47:22.460 while previously purple.

00:47:24.240 Everything my husband,

00:47:25.540 kids,

00:47:25.860 and I have

00:47:26.520 is here,

00:47:27.160 family,

00:47:27.640 jobs,

00:47:28.120 homes,

00:47:28.440 the great outdoors

00:47:28.960 like no other.

00:47:29.840 I love Minnesota

00:47:30.580 but get nervous

00:47:31.220 about where the state

00:47:32.060 is headed,

00:47:32.500 but honestly,

00:47:33.160 we won't ever leave

00:47:34.220 our lives here.

00:47:35.420 Do we deserve

00:47:36.060 what is coming

00:47:36.620 by not leaving?

00:47:37.560 Is there anything

00:47:38.100 noble in staying?

00:47:40.680 I'm a bit,

00:47:41.040 even though,

00:47:42.200 putting aside

00:47:42.920 everything I just said

00:47:43.480 about I wouldn't move

00:47:44.240 to Florida

00:47:44.500 because it's too hot

00:47:45.160 but I already live

00:47:46.860 in a red state

00:47:47.260 so I don't need to.

00:47:48.320 I am a big advocate

00:47:49.740 of,

00:47:51.040 yes,

00:47:51.360 move to a red state.

00:47:52.480 Leave where you are,

00:47:53.240 move somewhere else.

00:47:54.220 Balkanization, 0.95

00:47:54.780 it's inevitable

00:47:55.340 and we might as well

00:47:57.080 embrace it.

00:47:57.960 Talk about embracing things,

00:47:59.100 you might as well

00:47:59.520 embrace that.

00:48:03.060 If you live

00:48:03.820 in a deep blue state,

00:48:07.020 the trends

00:48:07.980 are against you,

00:48:09.240 the demographics

00:48:10.140 are against you

00:48:11.140 and yeah,

00:48:12.660 you can stay there

00:48:13.200 and go down

00:48:13.580 with the ship,

00:48:14.140 you can stay there

00:48:14.800 and say,

00:48:15.040 well,

00:48:15.120 I'm going to fight

00:48:15.540 for the state

00:48:16.040 and there might be

00:48:16.820 some states,

00:48:17.460 it depends on where

00:48:18.020 you live.

00:48:20.060 You know,

00:48:20.320 Minnesota,

00:48:21.180 probably a lost cause.

00:48:22.260 If you live in California,

00:48:23.320 definitely a lost cause

00:48:24.340 because the majority

00:48:27.860 of voters,

00:48:28.600 it's not just the voters

00:48:29.220 too but also the institutions,

00:48:30.520 they're all against you.

00:48:31.860 They have declared

00:48:32.560 what they want.

00:48:33.780 You know,

00:48:34.020 they want this

00:48:34.920 decaying husk

00:48:35.920 of a state,

00:48:37.680 crime ridden,

00:48:39.600 they want this

00:48:40.160 crime ridden, 1.00

00:48:40.780 dirty hellhole. 0.99

00:48:41.840 That's what they want 0.98

00:48:42.500 and so you're around

00:48:44.940 a bunch of people

00:48:45.280 that this is what they want.

00:48:46.740 You're living in their 0.99

00:48:48.060 utopia,

00:48:49.800 which is a dystopia.

00:48:52.880 I think the only way

00:48:53.860 around it is to move

00:48:54.700 but obviously

00:48:57.420 you've got to make

00:48:57.820 a decision you think

00:48:58.500 is right for your own family

00:48:59.300 and I'm also not

00:49:01.140 one of these people

00:49:01.620 that's easy.

00:49:02.180 I moved to Tennessee

00:49:03.200 two years ago

00:49:03.900 but what happens

00:49:05.280 a lot of times

00:49:06.160 people,

00:49:06.960 they move to a state

00:49:08.000 whether it's,

00:49:08.740 you know,

00:49:09.220 Tennessee or Florida

00:49:10.520 or Texas

00:49:10.940 and they get there

00:49:12.440 and then they

00:49:12.760 immediately complain

00:49:13.800 about all the other

00:49:14.700 conservatives

00:49:15.180 that are moving there

00:49:16.080 which I don't do that

00:49:18.200 because first of all

00:49:18.760 who am I

00:49:19.260 to complain

00:49:19.860 when someone else

00:49:20.420 moves here

00:49:20.720 when I just did

00:49:21.460 but also

00:49:22.620 I think it's,

00:49:23.180 I think it's,

00:49:24.140 it's good

00:49:25.060 bring in the reinforcements

00:49:26.200 bring in the cultural

00:49:26.840 reinforcements.

00:49:28.020 I'm all for it.

00:49:29.520 Now I recently watched

00:49:30.540 Jordan Peterson's

00:49:31.160 exclusive Daily Wire

00:49:32.140 plus three part series

00:49:33.340 on marriage.

00:49:34.280 It is the definitive

00:49:35.040 statement Jordan

00:49:35.760 has made on marriage

00:49:36.820 and I have to say

00:49:37.500 it is vital viewing

00:49:38.520 now more than ever

00:49:39.700 like we talked about

00:49:40.780 at the beginning

00:49:41.120 marriage rates

00:49:41.680 are an all time low

00:49:42.660 U.S. birth rates

00:49:43.400 are falling

00:49:43.840 young people

00:49:44.300 are getting married

00:49:44.840 much later in life

00:49:45.640 and less frequently too

00:49:46.500 the left has corrupted

00:49:47.520 or destroyed

00:49:48.620 every traditional institution

00:49:49.700 including of course

00:49:50.500 the nuclear family

00:49:51.280 for those of you

00:49:52.340 man children out there

00:49:53.660 who are still living

00:49:54.200 like flat frat boys

00:49:55.160 Jordan's got a wake up

00:49:56.800 call for you

00:49:57.360 and he says it

00:49:57.980 with a lot more tact

00:49:58.880 than I ever would

00:49:59.800 and if you're married

00:50:00.760 and you feel like

00:50:01.280 you're in a rut

00:50:01.660 Jordan will show you

00:50:02.340 how to rekindle

00:50:03.100 that honeymoon spark as well

00:50:04.320 if you think I'm joking

00:50:05.360 at one point Jordan

00:50:06.140 even tells you

00:50:06.720 how to be

00:50:07.200 the and I'm quoting here

00:50:09.040 lust ridden 0.99

00:50:10.140 god awful monster 0.99

00:50:11.480 that your partner 0.99

00:50:12.060 would actually like

00:50:12.740 to make love with

00:50:13.520 that's one way of putting it

00:50:31.860 we head down to

00:50:32.760 Columbia County

00:50:33.660 in Florida

00:50:34.240 speaking of Florida

00:50:34.860 where the sheriff

00:50:35.540 has issued a public

00:50:36.460 apology after

00:50:37.040 body camera footage

00:50:38.020 of a recent arrest

00:50:39.220 made by two of his

00:50:40.420 deputies went viral

00:50:41.360 James Hodges

00:50:42.540 a 61 year old man

00:50:43.520 from Lake City

00:50:44.760 was arrested

00:50:45.300 at the end of last month

00:50:46.240 charged with resisting arrest

00:50:47.980 of course

00:50:48.380 you know anytime

00:50:48.920 somebody is arrested

00:50:49.680 for resisting arrest

00:50:50.540 your first question is

00:50:52.200 why were they being

00:50:53.100 arrested in the first place

00:50:54.060 because in order to

00:50:54.740 resist arrest

00:50:55.360 the arrest must first

00:50:56.200 be initiated

00:50:56.720 for some reason

00:50:57.440 other than resisting it

00:50:58.440 since there is no

00:50:59.380 arrest to resist

00:51:00.080 until the arrest

00:51:00.680 is already being made

00:51:01.340 or at least you might think

00:51:02.700 though as we know

00:51:03.980 very often in cases

00:51:06.600 where there is viral

00:51:07.580 outrage over police

00:51:08.540 body cam footage

00:51:09.500 the clip you know

00:51:10.860 that has gone viral

00:51:12.540 it's very often

00:51:13.160 taken out of context

00:51:13.980 it's clipped

00:51:14.740 sometimes edited

00:51:15.500 to make the police

00:51:16.340 officers look

00:51:16.960 as bad as possible

00:51:18.320 very often

00:51:19.620 there is more to the story

00:51:20.880 very often the police

00:51:21.820 get a bad rap

00:51:22.680 based on their response

00:51:23.700 to a highly tense

00:51:24.820 and volatile situation

00:51:26.000 that they did not create

00:51:27.560 very often

00:51:29.160 but as you can see

00:51:30.520 from the footage

00:51:30.960 in this case

00:51:31.620 this is not one

00:51:33.880 of those times

00:51:34.380 watch

00:51:34.740 hi there

00:51:36.580 what's this in your

00:51:39.060 back pocket

00:51:39.600 i just saw you walking

00:51:42.160 it's a navigational age

00:51:44.160 what's the problem

00:51:44.880 you a tyrant 0.50

00:51:45.560 yeah i am actually 0.98

00:51:47.280 what's your name

00:51:47.900 and date of birth

00:51:48.440 i don't have to give

00:51:49.540 that unless i'm here

00:51:50.420 you have reasonable

00:51:52.040 articulated suspicions

00:51:52.360 do you want me to put you

00:51:53.360 in handcuffs right now

00:51:54.140 yes sir i do

00:51:54.960 what is your suspicion

00:51:56.460 it looks like you're

00:51:57.260 carrying a gun in your

00:51:57.980 back pocket

00:51:58.440 i'm stopping to make sure

00:51:59.520 you're carrying it

00:52:00.180 properly

00:52:00.660 have you ensured that

00:52:02.240 it's not a firearm

00:52:03.220 no you keep turning

00:52:04.380 so i can't see it

00:52:05.240 you don't have to be 0.99

00:52:05.840 a dick to me 0.99

00:52:06.520 well you're being 1.00

00:52:07.860 one to me

00:52:08.480 no sir i'm doing my job

00:52:10.000 am i detained

00:52:10.780 yeah you are

00:52:11.560 what's your name

00:52:11.980 and date of birth

00:52:12.520 it does not matter

00:52:13.700 yes sir it does

00:52:14.440 do you have a crime

00:52:15.320 would you like me

00:52:16.260 to put you in here

00:52:17.480 he's right here

00:52:18.480 alright

00:52:19.480 don't you know

00:52:22.100 sir what's the stock

00:52:23.100 you for

00:52:23.500 or a whopping stick

00:52:25.800 and it could look

00:52:26.880 like a weapon

00:52:27.480 she asked you to

00:52:28.420 really present it

00:52:29.400 okay

00:52:29.720 now she's asking me

00:52:31.140 i don't need the id

00:52:33.860 and that's a reasonable

00:52:35.060 articulated suspicion

00:52:36.460 and i have committed a

00:52:38.060 crime

00:52:38.460 and committing a crime

00:52:39.920 or is about to do a crime

00:52:41.560 sir and her suspicion

00:52:42.920 was that you were armed

00:52:44.080 okay and she's asking

00:52:45.000 for your id

00:52:45.840 well now she has verified

00:52:47.280 that i am not armed

00:52:48.400 so there is no problem

00:52:49.840 do you have your id or not

00:52:50.680 i do have my id

00:52:51.960 but you don't need it

00:52:53.000 okay

00:52:53.360 okay

00:52:57.720 so from there

00:53:11.120 he's arrested

00:53:11.680 taken to jail

00:53:12.560 um

00:53:13.040 hodges

00:53:14.060 the uh

00:53:14.920 suspect

00:53:15.280 quote unquote

00:53:15.820 in the video

00:53:16.340 is legally blind

00:53:17.640 you know

00:53:18.060 it turns out

00:53:18.620 that uh

00:53:19.160 as he explained

00:53:19.680 he left early that morning

00:53:20.660 to walk to jury duty

00:53:21.760 but then found out

00:53:22.980 that it was cancelled

00:53:23.660 and so he proceeded

00:53:24.960 to turn around

00:53:25.480 and walk home

00:53:26.100 at which point

00:53:27.720 he was stopped

00:53:28.160 by the female deputy 0.90

00:53:29.040 he thought that his

00:53:29.700 walking stick was a gun

00:53:30.860 now um

00:53:32.300 yes the stick was

00:53:33.180 folded up in his

00:53:33.820 back pocket

00:53:34.320 which is not a crime

00:53:35.340 last i checked

00:53:35.960 but also

00:53:36.460 even folded that way

00:53:38.580 i'm not sure how

00:53:39.240 it could be mistaken

00:53:40.000 for a firearm

00:53:40.940 has the female officer 0.97

00:53:41.800 ever seen a firearm

00:53:42.820 before doesn't she 0.91

00:53:43.500 wear one every day

00:53:44.380 what sort of gun

00:53:45.760 did she think he had

00:53:46.900 but that's all

00:53:48.780 irrelevant anyway

00:53:49.580 whatever led her

00:53:50.480 to suspect

00:53:51.040 that a walking stick

00:53:52.080 was a firearm

00:53:52.760 the point is that

00:53:54.320 and by the way

00:53:55.180 carrying a firearm

00:53:56.080 in florida

00:53:56.840 is

00:53:57.460 provided you have

00:53:58.400 all the licenses

00:53:59.240 and everything

00:53:59.640 and and that you need

00:54:00.840 that's not a crime

00:54:02.160 either but

00:54:02.700 um

00:54:04.200 the point is that

00:54:04.980 the man

00:54:05.300 30 seconds into

00:54:06.180 the interaction

00:54:06.640 produced the walking

00:54:08.760 stick

00:54:09.140 showed it to be

00:54:10.160 a walking stick

00:54:11.020 thereby confirming

00:54:12.400 that no crime

00:54:13.920 had been committed

00:54:14.700 everything was fine

00:54:16.120 he was just a guy

00:54:17.080 walking

00:54:17.660 the officer could have

00:54:19.600 ended the conversation

00:54:20.520 at that point

00:54:21.280 wished the man

00:54:22.320 a pleasant morning

00:54:22.960 and then went

00:54:23.460 about her day

00:54:23.860 that's it

00:54:24.260 that's it

00:54:25.040 there's no reason

00:54:25.500 to continue this

00:54:26.340 but her pride

00:54:28.240 was wounded

00:54:28.700 by his lack

00:54:29.460 of respect

00:54:29.960 and deference

00:54:30.420 and so she

00:54:31.000 cuffed him

00:54:31.360 and sent him

00:54:31.660 to jail

00:54:31.900 it may not appear

00:54:33.840 on the police report

00:54:34.380 but that is the crime

00:54:35.580 that Hodges committed

00:54:36.320 he wounded a police

00:54:37.340 officer's pride

00:54:38.140 he also embarrassed

00:54:39.340 her by failing 0.82

00:54:40.100 to have a firearm

00:54:40.900 he is guilty

00:54:42.320 of inflicting

00:54:42.940 embarrassment

00:54:43.540 and humiliation

00:54:44.280 in the first degree

00:54:45.320 and that earned him

00:54:46.580 a trip to the county

00:54:47.280 lockup

00:54:47.780 now of course

00:54:48.840 some people have

00:54:49.300 attempted to put

00:54:49.860 the blame on Hodges

00:54:50.940 here insisting

00:54:51.560 that he ought

00:54:51.900 to have just complied

00:54:52.920 and done as he was told

00:54:54.740 but he did comply

00:54:56.020 as much as necessary

00:54:56.860 to prove that he

00:54:57.500 hadn't committed

00:54:58.140 any sort of crime

00:54:59.460 he had no responsibility

00:55:00.200 beyond that

00:55:00.920 the relationship

00:55:03.120 between police officer

00:55:04.000 and citizen

00:55:04.440 is not supposed

00:55:05.280 to be

00:55:05.860 like the relationship

00:55:07.320 between parent

00:55:08.120 and child

00:55:08.800 or king

00:55:09.560 and subject

00:55:10.160 this is America

00:55:12.240 we don't have a duty

00:55:13.860 to do exactly

00:55:14.700 as we're told

00:55:15.360 no matter what

00:55:16.300 regardless of the situation

00:55:17.600 because I said so

00:55:19.540 is not valid reasoning

00:55:21.180 coming from a police officer

00:55:22.360 when you're not a suspect

00:55:23.460 in a crime

00:55:24.100 and police officers

00:55:26.880 are not empowered

00:55:27.680 to punish us

00:55:28.340 simply because

00:55:28.980 we're being disrespectful

00:55:30.160 which I don't think he was

00:55:33.100 I mean she was the one 0.99

00:55:33.620 who called him a dick 1.00

00:55:34.280 to begin with 0.99

00:55:34.960 she was disrespectful 0.98

00:55:36.860 to him

00:55:37.360 so what he has to

00:55:40.020 just endure that

00:55:40.980 and take that

00:55:41.540 and if he responds

00:55:42.440 in kind

00:55:43.040 even though he's not

00:55:43.780 a suspect in any crime

00:55:44.780 they can put him in jail

00:55:45.660 you know in an allegedly

00:55:47.980 free country

00:55:48.640 where officials

00:55:49.480 carry the title

00:55:50.380 of public servant

00:55:51.360 it is at least

00:55:53.320 at least

00:55:54.280 just as much

00:55:55.100 their responsibility

00:55:55.920 to show respect

00:55:57.780 to us

00:55:58.060 as it is

00:55:58.500 ours to show respect

00:55:59.320 to them

00:55:59.620 that's the way

00:56:00.540 this is supposed

00:56:01.020 to work

00:56:01.420 anyway

00:56:01.820 so will there be

00:56:03.640 consequences

00:56:04.180 for the officers

00:56:04.840 in this case

00:56:05.340 NBC News

00:56:05.940 has the report

00:56:06.580 quote

00:56:06.840 two deputies

00:56:07.740 will be suspended

00:56:08.540 and a Florida sheriff

00:56:09.660 has apologized

00:56:10.260 after a visually impaired

00:56:11.240 man was arrested

00:56:11.800 last month

00:56:12.200 when his walking cane

00:56:12.860 was mistaken for a gun

00:56:13.680 the deputies faced

00:56:14.740 suspension without pay

00:56:15.760 and Harrison

00:56:16.380 was demoted

00:56:17.000 after an investigation

00:56:18.380 was launched

00:56:19.040 when Hodges requested

00:56:19.840 body cam footage

00:56:20.620 of the arrest

00:56:25.520 I want to extend

00:56:26.120 my sincere apologies

00:56:27.000 to Mr. Hodges

00:56:27.780 for the actions

00:56:28.340 of my deputies

00:56:28.880 I do not feel

00:56:29.520 these deputies actions

00:56:30.400 were guided

00:56:30.900 by ill intent

00:56:31.540 but rather by frustration

00:56:33.260 and failure

00:56:33.680 to rely on their training

00:56:34.840 nevertheless

00:56:35.140 this conduct

00:56:42.560 he will not be eligible

00:57:01.300 and yet they still have a job

00:57:02.560 isn't that like

00:57:03.800 taking an airline pilot

00:57:05.080 out of the cockpit

00:57:05.800 for two weeks

00:57:06.580 in order to give him

00:57:07.540 remedial training

00:57:08.460 on how to land a plane

00:57:09.520 isn't the fact

00:57:10.700 that such a training

00:57:11.300 is necessary

00:57:12.000 proof in itself

00:57:13.380 that they shouldn't be

00:57:14.140 on the job

00:57:14.720 in the first place

00:57:15.360 yes police officers

00:57:17.600 are often unfairly blamed

00:57:19.180 and scapegoated

00:57:19.900 I'll be the first

00:57:21.200 to come to their defense

00:57:21.920 when that happens

00:57:22.440 you know that

00:57:22.940 but that problem

00:57:23.780 is only exacerbated

00:57:25.200 by the fact

00:57:26.540 that first of all

00:57:27.520 the hiring

00:57:28.740 and retention standards

00:57:29.780 in most police departments

00:57:30.760 are far too low

00:57:31.740 cops who don't possess

00:57:33.160 even the basic skills

00:57:34.440 necessary to do the job

00:57:35.600 are on the job anyway

00:57:36.800 and kept there

00:57:37.540 that female deputy 1.00

00:57:39.540 is bumbling

00:57:40.660 nervous

00:57:41.460 on edge

00:57:42.260 undisciplined

00:57:43.100 now again

00:57:44.600 in many of these videos

00:57:46.140 when you're looking

00:57:47.640 at a really

00:57:48.100 volatile situation

00:57:50.200 you've got someone

00:57:50.940 who's violently

00:57:51.760 resisting

00:57:52.840 you know

00:57:53.220 a violent criminal

00:57:54.400 and then you watch it

00:57:55.940 and you watch a 30 second

00:57:56.980 or even two minute clip

00:57:58.100 or whatever

00:57:58.440 and you come to all

00:57:59.200 these conclusions

00:57:59.680 about the police officers

00:58:00.380 a lot of times

00:58:00.820 it's unfair

00:58:01.280 because they're

00:58:02.540 in that position

00:58:03.560 you know

00:58:04.020 and it's like

00:58:04.560 so it's really easy

00:58:06.240 to money morning quarterback

00:58:07.000 but in this case

00:58:07.720 this is a low stakes situation

00:58:09.820 there's nothing

00:58:11.020 going on here

00:58:11.700 everything's fine

00:58:12.520 and yet

00:58:14.320 that's still

00:58:14.860 how she comes across

00:58:15.640 she has no business

00:58:18.160 wearing a badge

00:58:18.800 and yet she wears one

00:58:19.580 this is partly due

00:58:21.100 to diversity quotas

00:58:22.500 but

00:58:23.660 and those are the

00:58:24.900 of course the bane

00:58:25.620 of nearly every institution

00:58:26.620 in American life

00:58:27.340 and it's partly due

00:58:28.140 to recruitment problems

00:58:29.000 and staffing shortages

00:58:29.800 police departments

00:58:30.880 are desperate

00:58:31.700 for warm bodies

00:58:32.620 to fill those roles

00:58:33.500 and that desperation

00:58:34.380 is becoming

00:58:34.940 increasingly evident

00:58:35.920 but second

00:58:37.260 there is simply

00:58:38.400 not enough accountability

00:58:39.520 you know

00:58:40.060 for the sake of

00:58:41.500 restoring public trust

00:58:43.340 in our most important

00:58:44.820 institutions

00:58:45.380 like law enforcement

00:58:46.480 you have to make

00:58:48.520 an example

00:58:49.220 out of those

00:58:50.900 who abuse their power

00:58:52.060 or fail to fulfill

00:58:53.100 their most basic

00:58:53.900 obligations

00:58:54.560 both cops involved here

00:58:57.060 rather than being

00:58:57.600 temporarily suspended

00:58:58.420 should be at a minimum

00:58:59.940 fired

00:59:00.480 you can make an argument

00:59:02.600 for arresting them

00:59:03.480 and charging them

00:59:03.960 with false imprisonment

00:59:04.800 abuse of power

00:59:05.620 among other crimes

00:59:06.480 when you have

00:59:08.400 a clear cut case

00:59:09.680 of tyrannical

00:59:10.580 and abusive behavior

00:59:11.880 by a police officer

00:59:12.880 I mean she literally

00:59:13.520 says yes I'm a tyrant 0.56

00:59:14.600 he says are you a tyrant

00:59:15.920 she says yeah 0.68

00:59:16.440 okay well

00:59:17.660 and then she acts

00:59:18.460 tyrannically

00:59:19.160 clear cut

00:59:20.140 I mean there's nothing

00:59:20.660 to talk about here

00:59:21.400 so for the sake

00:59:23.360 of justice

00:59:24.160 for the sake of

00:59:25.140 clinging on

00:59:26.020 to whatever faith

00:59:26.860 the public might

00:59:27.500 still have in the institution

00:59:28.560 you gotta come down hard

00:59:30.180 make an example

00:59:32.200 okay this is not

00:59:33.580 one of those things

00:59:34.180 where again

00:59:34.800 a police officer

00:59:35.620 is being unfairly targeted

00:59:37.580 based on out of context

00:59:39.460 footage

00:59:39.800 and then the public demands

00:59:41.140 that we make

00:59:41.620 that they be offered up 0.98

00:59:43.180 as a sacrificial goat

00:59:44.100 that's not this

00:59:44.660 in this case

00:59:45.740 when she actually

00:59:47.360 has done something

00:59:48.140 horribly wrong

00:59:48.860 yeah make an example

00:59:50.640 of her

00:59:50.880 offer her up

00:59:51.540 for sure

00:59:51.960 but too often

00:59:53.760 the wagons are circled

00:59:54.820 and the offenders

00:59:55.740 get off with a slap

00:59:56.920 on the wrist 0.96

00:59:57.340 if that

00:59:57.760 I mean were any

00:59:59.280 of those police officers

01:00:00.020 who stood outside

01:00:00.620 the room for an hour

01:00:01.540 while children

01:00:02.080 were being executed

01:00:02.740 in Uvalde

01:00:03.280 were any of them

01:00:03.840 ever fired

01:00:04.320 let alone arrested

01:00:05.420 no I don't think so

01:00:08.280 and the answer

01:00:08.660 is far too often

01:00:09.420 no

01:00:09.680 accountability

01:00:11.320 is not just a buzzword

01:00:12.640 it's the only way forward

01:00:13.820 it's the only way

01:00:14.540 to avoid a complete collapse

01:00:16.040 in the public's trust

01:00:17.600 and faith

01:00:18.240 in our essential institutions

01:00:20.080 and the only way

01:00:22.160 to avoid

01:00:22.560 the chaos

01:00:23.780 that follows from that

01:00:25.100 and so

01:00:27.000 that is why

01:00:28.100 we must say

01:00:29.880 that not only

01:00:30.580 are these officers

01:00:31.160 but the sheriff as well

01:00:32.260 are failing to do

01:00:33.680 what's necessary

01:00:34.200 all of them

01:00:35.140 today are cancelled

01:00:36.420 and that'll do it for us

01:00:37.860 for this portion of the show

01:00:38.920 as we move over

01:00:39.380 to the members block

01:00:40.100 hope to see you there

01:00:40.880 if not

01:00:41.280 talk to you tomorrow

01:00:42.340 godspeed

01:00:43.040 you

01:00:49.260 you

01:00:52.100 you

01:00:52.740 you

01:00:54.200 you

01:00:57.560 you
