00:02:23.840 Except this year, the headlines around the event had nothing to do with Christian music

00:02:29.340 Instead, the attention went to a man named Derek Webb, who gained prominence in the Christian

00:02:34.140 music space as the longtime lead singer of a popular Christian rock band.

00:02:38.680 And then several years ago, Webb had an affair, left his wife, and then became an apostate.

00:02:43.200 And he's now remarried to the lead singer of another Christian rock band while he continues

00:02:46.940 to put out albums with titles like The Jesus Hypothesis, which should give you a good idea

00:02:52.100 of where he stands these days.

00:02:53.680 But this year, after winning several Dove Awards in the past, Webb decided to attend the

00:02:58.840 ceremony, except he was going to attend it dressed in drag alongside his drag queen friend

00:03:04.220 who goes by the stage name Flamey Grant.

00:03:07.180 Now, you may recall that we talked about Flamey Grant a few months ago when one of his Christian,

00:03:11.080 quote unquote, Christian songs, briefly made it to the top of the Christian song charts.

00:03:17.180 Webb and Grant have made music together in the past, including a song called Boys Will

00:03:21.080 Be Girls, and they put those lyrics into practice, I suppose, or tried this week at the Dove

00:03:27.860 Webb tweeted out a picture of himself dressed in his drag outfit, along with the caption,

00:03:32.380 54th Annual Dove Awards, here we come.

00:03:35.200 As you can see with the picture, Flamey Grant is dressed in the customary drag queen uniform 0.98

00:03:43.860 he's playing dress-up with clothes that he found in the clearance bin of the women's

00:06:12.820 Around 40 people protested in front of the church with signs condemning LGBTQ people.

00:06:19.020 Senior Pastor Neal Thomas called this a part of a growing persecution of drag queens and

00:06:24.120 transgender people in the U.S.

00:06:26.580 But SB 12 has quite sincere ramifications specifically aimed at drag community who are using this law 1.00

00:06:35.500 potentially to discriminate against and to oppress a part of our community that has been

00:06:42.760 a vital part since the movement of the LGBTQ plus community.

00:06:48.080 Now, supporters say Senate Bill 12 is needed to protect children.

00:06:52.540 After the church service, local drag performers were invited onto the stage for a blessing.

00:06:58.420 Now, you notice how the anchor claims that there were signs condemning LGBTQ people, and yet somehow

00:07:05.060 their own news cameras never managed to get any of those signs on film.

00:07:10.080 The only sign we see is one that says, God created them male and female, which is a direct quote from 0.79

00:07:15.980 So if that is a condemnation of LGBTQ people, it's not the sign doing the condemning.

00:07:24.920 The pastor also tells us that a law criminalizing sexually explicit shows for children will have

00:07:30.420 severe ramifications for the drag community, and it amounts to oppression against them, which,

00:07:37.620 of course, in and of itself is a confession.

00:07:40.680 Indeed, LGBT activists have told us everything we need to know by their reaction to laws around

00:07:45.420 the country that simply prohibit the sexual and physical abuse of children.

00:07:49.660 They tell us themselves that these laws seriously cramp their style, and that should tell you something

00:07:55.840 It's like if they passed a special law saying, I don't know, you're not allowed to burn nursing

00:09:08.240 It was a celebration of the art of drag, as well as a fundraiser for the church's community

00:09:18.020 Reverend Tara Wilkins says the brunch was also a form of protest against anti-trans legislation

00:10:22.380 But it's also true that Western Christianity as a whole has become increasingly infiltrated

00:10:28.780 by this kind of madness and has generally failed to take a firm stance against any of this,

00:10:35.120 much less effectively fight back against it.

00:10:38.340 You know, recently I told you about the major victory in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals,

00:10:41.960 which upheld the ban on child gender mutilation in Tennessee and Kentucky.

00:10:46.100 And after that decision was announced, a number of prominent Christian leaders went on Twitter

00:10:52.620 to celebrate the decision, which we should celebrate.

00:10:56.520 But it was noted by many that most of these leaders, though they were eager to join the party,

00:11:04.580 celebrating the win, and to tacitly take credit for it, were nowhere in sight when the battle was raging.

00:11:10.540 And the battle's still raging, by the way, and they're still not out on the battlefield.

00:11:15.540 In fact, transgenderism and LGBT ideology seized its stranglehold on American culture, 1.00

00:11:21.300 while most churches and most Christian leaders and most pastors and priests,

00:11:25.360 certainly not all, not all, but most, said nothing at all about it.

00:11:31.420 You know, they may not have explicitly joined the other side and started waving the rainbow flag,

00:11:36.380 though some of them did, but most of them hid from the fight.

00:11:40.820 Which is why, you know, of all the people who most prominently led the charge against gender ideology

00:11:46.660 and are still leading it, precisely none of us are church leaders.

00:11:52.900 And some people at the forefront of this fight aren't even Christian.

00:12:01.460 many Christian leaders spent their time lecturing us for the way that we fought,

00:12:06.380 and the tone that we took, and our harshness, and our meanness,

00:12:11.940 and our supposed lack of grace and kindness.

00:12:15.940 All through the years of being in this battle, being in this fight,

00:12:19.240 most of the time, if I hear a prominent Christian, Christian supposed leader acknowledge my existence at all,

00:12:28.500 it's going to be to, I don't appreciate your tone.

00:12:33.760 Sitting on the sidelines, afraid to get their hands dirty,

00:12:36.800 while lecturing those of us in the trenches for fighting in a way that they find personally displeasing to watch.

00:12:42.480 And this is the story of Christianity in the West, at least in modern times.

00:12:48.660 So, the Dove Awards are kind of a perfect encapsulation of this problem.

00:12:52.260 Sure, the Gospel Music Association did not, as far as I know,

00:12:55.280 officially invite Derek Webb or Flamey Grant to attend,

00:12:59.320 did not have them on stage to perform the heretical songs for the audience,

00:13:03.040 but they also apparently didn't meet these men at the door and refuse them entry,

00:13:07.780 which is what should have happened.

00:13:09.220 Instead, I guess they were welcomed and they were apparently treated kindly,

00:13:15.260 when, in fact, they should have been rebuked and turned away.

00:13:20.480 Yes, that would have been the Christian response, believe it or not.
