Summary
A black man in Portland, Oregon was acquitted for saying the N-word to a white man who called him a racist slur. A jury just acquitted the assailant because the white man said the n-word after the attack. We re at the point now where black people can literally stab you for saying a word that hurts their feelings and they ll suffer no legal consequences. Which is a much bigger story than a random Cinnabon employee saying racial slurs.

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, a black man in Portland stabbed a white man and tried to kill him.
00:01:04.920
A jury just acquitted the assailant because the white man said the N-word after the attack.
00:01:09.920
We're at the point now where black people can literally stab you
00:01:12.840
for saying a word that hurts their feelings and they'll suffer no legal consequences,
00:01:16.100
which is a much bigger story than a random Cinnabon employee saying racial slurs.
00:01:20.960
Also, Democrats in Congress continue to claim that Trump is guilty of war crimes
00:01:27.120
Sidney Sweeney proves that she's not quite as based as conservatives wanted to believe.
00:01:31.760
And Trump has finally said something that outrages and offends even me.
00:01:36.900
We'll talk about all that and more today on the Matt Walsh Show.
00:01:39.420
A food court Cinnabon in a tiny Wisconsin village near Green Bay
00:02:08.880
is not the kind of place you'd expect to attract international media attention
00:02:12.980
from the likes of The Washington Post, The Independent, ABC News.
00:02:17.200
There's a reason the protagonist of Better Call Saul worked in a Cinnabon.
00:02:20.660
It's about as nondescript and unremarkable a job as you can imagine.
00:02:26.460
which normally means the clientele is pretty happy, relatively speaking,
00:02:32.920
You're serving dessert dishes that contain enough calories to feed a football team for a week,
00:02:37.200
but which are instead consumed by a single person in a single sitting,
00:02:40.620
which means that your customers go from happy as they anticipate consuming the treat
00:02:44.620
to catatonic and comatose after having gorged themselves like raccoons in a dumpster.
00:02:51.000
Overall, it's a low stakes, low energy, pretty chill environment.
00:02:56.380
That's the point, where everybody comes and gives themselves heart disease
00:03:05.960
you collect your measly paycheck, and you go home.
00:03:15.440
But over the weekend, all of our assumptions about Cinnabon
00:03:19.980
Turns out that, according to every major news outlet in the country
00:03:25.880
Cinnabon is actually ground zero for extreme, unhinged, undiluted white supremacy.
00:03:32.180
Random Cinnabon locations inside generic mall food courts in the middle of nowhere
00:03:36.780
are, in fact, unmistakable evidence that white supremacists are the greatest threat
00:03:41.820
facing our country, just like Joe Biden always told us.
00:03:46.460
And Exhibit A, as you may have seen, is this video.
00:03:48.980
It begins, as all of these videos do, in the middle of the action.
00:03:53.240
You have no context, no idea what happened beforehand.
00:03:58.220
This is the footage that, by now, has been viewed tens of millions of times.
00:04:12.260
I am racist, and I'll say that to the whole entire world.
00:04:40.040
Now, it's censored in that footage, but the Cinnabon worker drops an N-bomb.
00:04:49.680
The word that has mystical powers, like an ancient incantation that you read out of an old book you find in the attic.
00:04:56.260
Accidentally summoning a demonic beast from the netherworld.
00:05:00.280
She has a couple of other mean things, too, she says.
00:05:04.120
And clearly understands that she's being recorded and that she's going to be fired for this.
00:05:11.480
In fact, she maybe seems thrilled at the idea that she may never have to work in a Cinnabon ever again.
00:05:17.320
And indeed, on the basis of this footage, there was a predictable outrage cycle.
00:05:22.060
Cinnabon's corporate headquarters announced that the woman, whose name is apparently Crystal,
00:05:27.860
Tens of thousands of people claimed that the footage was proof that white supremacy is alive and well.
00:05:33.220
And in turn, as we saw with Shiloh Hendricks, a Give, Send, Go fundraiser was established to support Crystal.
00:05:38.960
Many people who are tired of these dumb stories and cancellations in general chipped in.
00:05:44.860
And as of now, it's raised nearly $100,000 and counting.
00:05:47.980
So already in about 48 hours, she's earned a lot more than she would have made in several years working at Cinnabon.
00:05:57.080
Then as the outrage cycle continued, additional footage emerged, showing 10 seconds from before the viral footage.
00:06:06.020
And this is still out of context, but it gives you a little more context.
00:06:13.120
Sexualizing your body makes you a better person.
00:06:22.920
Now, as best I can tell from piecing together various accounts, the allegation here is that a couple of Somalis ordered a Cinnabon.
00:06:34.680
And they weren't happy with the amount of caramel on their cinnamon roll.
00:06:38.560
Because people from third world countries, where everybody is starving, they come here and immediately start complaining that their cinnamon rolls don't have enough caramel.
00:06:49.340
And in response, according to the Somalis, this is their version of the story, to be clear.
00:06:53.440
The Cinnabon employee allegedly made fun of the woman's hijab, saying something to the effect of,
00:07:00.380
you could see me squeezing it through the witchcraft bandana you're wearing on top of your head.
00:07:11.340
And then in response, the Somalis allegedly mocked the Cinnabon employee for not wearing a hijab, which is what you just heard in that last clip.
00:07:21.380
The other version of the story circulating online is that the Somalis harangued the woman unprovoked for not wearing the hijab.
00:07:28.460
What actually happened prior to the viral clip?
00:07:31.820
And neither does anyone else commenting on the story.
00:07:36.140
And now with all this footage appearing online, you've got your predictable camps forming.
00:07:40.800
On the right, there are some who are lionizing this woman.
00:07:44.460
After all, her salary has almost certainly been taxed and funneled to various Somali scams and Islamic terror groups at one point or another.
00:07:51.180
So a few bad words isn't exactly a big deal in comparison.
00:07:55.060
And meanwhile, on the left, they're trying to turn these Somalis into the next George and Georgette Floyd
00:07:59.700
because, you know, they didn't get enough caramel on their dessert and then had to endure some naughty words.
00:08:04.740
And everybody's drawing these battle lines based on a narrative that makes no sense, no matter how you look at it.
00:08:12.780
I mean, we're supposed to believe that the Cinnabon lady made fun of the woman and dropped an N-bomb because they politely asked for more caramel?
00:08:20.900
We're supposed to believe that all they did was come up and say, oh, can I get a little more caramel?
00:08:24.420
And she said, oh, you and your witchcraft bandana.
00:08:33.500
They didn't try to bait her and trap her and then start recording mid-confrontation, which happens constantly in scenarios just like this one?
00:08:45.220
And also, I don't see the Cinnabon lady as any kind of hero or role model.
00:08:50.060
I also think that Cinnabon basically had no choice but to fire her.
00:08:54.000
I mean, if you're caught on camera in uniform on the job cussing out a customer, it doesn't matter what words you use.
00:09:00.180
If you're cussing out a customer using any vulgarity, you're going to lose your job.
00:09:06.920
No employer can take the position that cussing out customers is okay as long as the customer started it.
00:09:13.700
That is not codified into any employee handbook that I've ever seen.
00:09:18.140
Now, for what it's worth, some reporters—and, of course, on the other hand, that does not justify the ridiculous national and global outrage or efforts to ruin this woman's life.
00:09:35.280
This is a very local employment matter at the Cinnabon in Wisconsin.
00:09:45.600
Now, for what it's worth, some reporters, including reporters at The Daily Wire, have been diving into this woman's voting history.
00:09:52.760
And apparently this woman is a Democrat who voted for Kamala Harris and bragged on social media about getting the COVID shot.
00:09:59.700
And because her behavior in this footage is so over the top, almost like a caricature of how a, quote, racist MAGA Republican would act, that, you know, it raises the possibility that this is an elaborate stunt.
00:10:12.900
Or even yet another Somali scam of some kind, a real long con where she's in on it with the goal of raising a lot of money on give, send, go.
00:10:29.580
And then the fact that this woman voted for Kamala Harris and is talking like this, a little weird.
00:10:38.420
It's not necessary to resolve any of these questions.
00:10:44.820
The bigger story, which is indeed very important, is the meta question of why this Cinnabon episode is national news in the first place.
00:10:55.780
Now, it's the same reason Shiloh Hendricks was in the news a few months ago.
00:10:59.160
But major news outlets aren't interested in the fact that a minimum wage fast food employee had a verbal spat with customers who were almost certainly provoking her.
00:11:11.300
I mean, that's the kind of thing that happens a million times a day.
00:11:14.600
It's only a story because of the magical power that we have imbued on one specific racial slur.
00:11:21.680
And when I say magical power, I'm not just talking about how if you say the so-called N-word, you'll get fired from your job, demonetized on YouTube, cast out from polite society.
00:11:33.640
I'm also talking about the fact, which is now proven beyond any doubt, that if you say this magical word, then your life is forfeit.
00:11:48.320
Black people have the de facto legal authority to murder you if you say that particular naughty word in front of them.
00:11:58.920
And if you think I'm exaggerating, well, a jury verdict in Portland has just made that clear.
00:12:06.140
This is from a local Fox station in Portland reporting on a stabbing back in July of this year.
00:12:12.320
Now know the name of the person arrested for a stabbing in downtown Portland that injured a person.
00:12:18.720
Today, police announced that 42-year-old Gary Omar Edwards was arrested on assault charges.
00:12:24.420
It stems from a stabbing that happened on Northwest 5th Street just after 930 yesterday morning.
00:12:30.220
Police say a person was stabbed in the shoulder area and went to the hospital with serious injuries.
00:12:35.120
Edwards was arrested by the Central Bike Squad.
00:12:38.020
There's no word on the stabbing victim's condition.
00:12:40.220
Now, at the time, it seemed like a pretty open and shut case.
00:12:45.540
A black man named Gary Edwards, who had previous convictions for attempted second-degree assault
00:12:50.120
and who had been sentenced to three years in prison for another stabbing on the public transit system,
00:12:56.100
had seriously injured yet another unarmed individual named Gregory Howard, who was sitting on a bench.
00:13:00.920
And in a rare case of Portland police actually doing something, Gary Edwards was quickly arrested
00:13:05.100
and charged with second-degree assault, as he should have been.
00:13:09.760
But just five months later, Gary Edwards has been acquitted for stabbing and nearly killing a white guy in broad daylight.
00:13:21.740
And that's not because there's any dispute about whether Edwards had stabbed the victim.
00:13:30.660
But what happened is that the victim, after the attack, was captured on police body camera, saying the N-word.
00:13:40.020
And based on that fact alone, the fact that the victim uttered the unmentionable word,
00:13:49.840
An Old Town stabbing case ended in defeat for Multnomah County prosecutors.
00:13:54.920
Once jurors learned, the wounded man had been videoed uttering a racist slur in the struggle's aftermath.
00:14:01.480
Transit cameras show Edwards, a fixed-blade knife clasped at his side,
00:14:05.860
approaching Howard from behind as he sat on a bench.
00:14:08.900
The video has no sound, but Howard springs up and pushes Edwards as soon as he sees him.
00:14:13.460
The duo scuffle against a wall for a brief moment, ending with Edwards stabbing Howard in the shoulder.
00:14:18.200
Defense attorney Daniel Small said the most relevant evidence was recorded later
00:14:21.840
when security officers heard the wounded man shouting the racist slur
00:14:25.380
and captured it on their body cameras as he described the incident.
00:14:33.680
The defense attorney said Edwards was simply approaching Howard and offering a polite trade,
00:14:40.100
What other than racism could explain why Mr. Howard perceived hatred, animosity, and aggression from a complete stranger?
00:14:45.460
The defense attorney asked the jury on October 30th.
00:14:54.480
Well, maybe it was the fact that Gary Edwards approached the victim from behind with a knife out.
00:15:01.080
Maybe when you're sitting on a bench and someone sneaks up from behind you holding a knife,
00:15:06.180
you might perceive that they're a threat to you.
00:15:09.520
Maybe that's why the victim perceived aggression and immediately pushed Edwards away.
00:15:13.740
Maybe he didn't want to get randomly stabbed just like the other person that Edwards stabbed on the public transit system.
00:15:20.920
Maybe he didn't buy the idea that the guy wanted to trade his knife, which is complete nonsense.
00:15:31.560
But when you're a defense attorney for a psychotic, violent vagrant,
00:15:35.420
this is the kind of defense you have to launch.
00:15:38.280
You have to sincerely claim that your guy, with a history of stabbing people,
00:15:44.960
crept up behind somebody with a knife out because he wanted to engage in some old-fashioned bartering,
00:15:51.580
like they're at a trading outpost on the frontier in 1843.
00:15:55.680
Now, given the facts of this case, there is no doubt whatsoever that Gary Edwards was acquitted
00:16:01.200
because his victim was white and because his white victim used a racial slur after the fact.
00:16:10.000
If the victim had been black and used this particular word either before or after the fact,
00:16:16.260
But because the victim was white, he had it coming.
00:16:19.360
I mean, what the Portland jury said is that, well, he deserved to get stabbed because he said a word.
00:16:29.240
In the eyes of a Portland jury, if you're white, the use of an anti-black slur means that you deserve to get stabbed.
00:16:36.680
Even if you use the slur after you're attacked,
00:16:41.360
to use a racial slur after you get stabbed retroactively justifies getting stabbed.
00:16:48.940
That is a jury verdict that happened in this country.
00:16:54.460
Of course, in a free country, you should be able to use racial slurs anytime you want,
00:17:01.080
without fear that you'll be murdered if you do so.
00:17:04.560
If you use racial slurs or any vulgarity on the job in uniform, you might lose your job.
00:17:13.960
That's just your employers are also free to make determinations.
00:17:16.920
But there shouldn't be any word that you're just simply not allowed to say.
00:17:23.940
There's no combination of syllables that you should be banned from uttering.
00:17:29.120
There are no syllables that should justify violence against you.
00:17:33.640
Now, I've seen a lot of commentators emphasizing the fact that Howard only used the slur after the attack,
00:17:40.760
which is obviously very important to mention because it highlights how depraved this whole thing is.
00:17:45.120
But we should also make it clear that if Howard had been calling this guy a slur before the attack,
00:17:55.740
Even if he pushed him and called him a bad word before he was stabbed,
00:18:04.220
It doesn't move us an inch towards justifying the stabbing.
00:18:14.240
If somebody's approaching you from behind with a knife in his hand or with nothing in his hands at all,
00:18:20.280
you can call him whatever mean name you can think of.
00:18:23.820
That obviously doesn't give him a license to try to kill you.
00:18:32.440
I don't think people should be using vulgarity in public.
00:18:39.060
For the same reason, I'll say F-word or C-word.
00:18:43.200
You know, if I'm reading a quote from someone, I'll say F-word.
00:18:48.180
I mean, even by referencing the first letter in the word, you're still conveying the word, right?
00:18:55.440
So you could argue that you might as well just say it.
00:18:57.380
But I also believe in following certain rules of decorum.
00:19:06.500
But those standards should apply to all vulgarity, not just one particular vulgarity.
00:19:13.880
And obviously, you can disapprove of vulgarity without saying that somebody should die or go to prison because they use them.
00:19:23.780
And indeed, if you can't do that, then you're not living in America anymore.
00:19:33.980
Her trial date has been set and already said after she used the forbidden word in a playground in Minnesota.
00:19:41.600
And in case you don't remember that story, a Somali child stole her property.
00:19:45.040
So there's constantly Somalis getting mixed up in this kind of thing.
00:19:49.800
It's almost like the Somalis are coming here, causing a lot of trouble, antagonizing the actual native citizens of this country.
00:20:01.780
And it's also almost like everyone's just fed up with them.
00:20:10.420
People are looking at these third world scam artists that come to this country and they're just pissed off.
00:20:20.160
But anyway, a Somali man with a disturbing criminal record began harassing her and she finally snapped.
00:20:29.140
She was clearly tired that Somalis had taken over her community.
00:20:32.260
She was tired that they were trying to provoke her.
00:20:34.680
And faced with this provocation, she made her disapproval very, very clear.
00:20:38.980
In this case, she wasn't on the job or wearing a uniform.
00:20:41.540
She was just at the playground with her kid in her personal life.
00:20:47.760
But in Little Mugudishu, white people are not allowed to demonstrate their disapproval for Somalis anymore,
00:20:52.780
whether they're using offensive language or not.
00:20:55.520
And that's why local authorities are currently trying to put Shiloh Hendricks in prison.
00:20:59.820
In August of next year, she'll go on trial for several counts of disorderly conduct,
00:21:04.220
even though she didn't cause any kind of public disturbance at all.
00:21:14.540
If you had been on the playground on the other side of the playground,
00:21:20.500
She was directing her frustration at the man who was filming her and berating her
00:21:27.260
But because she used a bad word and failed to show proper deference to the invaders
00:21:31.720
who have destroyed Minnesota, she's probably going to go to prison.
00:21:34.420
This is the state of the First Amendment in a country that's imported an awful lot of people
00:21:39.960
who don't have a First Amendment in their countries.
00:21:44.040
That's the state of free speech in a country where immigration authorities are constantly being hounded,
00:21:49.160
harassed, even shot at, from California to Minnesota to Chicago to New Orleans to New York,
00:21:54.860
simply for doing their job and enforcing the border and deporting illegal aliens
00:22:02.360
Put simply, without immigration enforcement, we don't have a First Amendment.
00:22:09.700
And at the same time, this isn't simply a question of illegal migration.
00:22:17.320
A black guy in Texas was awarded over half a million dollars in donations,
00:22:20.820
as you remember, for stabbing a white kid named Austin Metcalf to death.
00:22:25.560
And as they donated the money, thousands of black people left comments
00:22:29.980
celebrating, in effect, the death of another evil white kid
00:22:44.020
Black people are given hundreds of thousands of dollars
00:23:00.900
Now, before any major news outlet says another word
00:23:06.520
it'd be interesting to see them answer this question.
00:23:10.660
Why was Carmelo Anthony allowed to receive his diploma?
00:23:16.880
and then lied to police about stashing his knife into bleachers.
00:23:22.020
That seems like the kind of thing that should disqualify you from graduating.
00:23:27.380
And while we're at it, what evidence was there that Derek Chauvin actually killed George Floyd?
00:23:32.040
Even the jury told CNN they didn't actually think Chauvin killed Floyd.
00:23:37.640
he didn't demonstrate enough compassion to a man who was clearly overdosing of his own accord.
00:23:42.580
And while we're at it, why were the prosecutors allowed to lie to the jury
00:23:46.600
about the relative amount of fentanyl in Floyd's system
00:23:49.420
by comparing his blood samples to samples from overdose victims
00:23:54.520
Until we get serious answers to these questions,
00:24:00.000
don't talk to us about the Cinnabon woman who had a bad day.
00:24:08.380
but she is the predictable result of decades of anti-white propaganda
00:24:31.860
The moments I'm looking forward to most this holiday season
00:24:36.560
They're the moments when I'm simply spending time with my family.
00:24:39.200
Those times with all my kids gathered around the table,
00:24:44.060
This year, give someone a Good Ranchers gift box
00:24:46.980
