00:04:46.660 use this footage as proof that contrary to what Donald Trump was saying, socialists really were

00:04:52.260 not a threat. For example, a Washington Post columnist wrote that, quote, depending on the

00:04:58.120 day, socialists are a terrifying force ready to overthrow the government or a collection of

00:05:02.220 snowflakes to laugh at. Well, just seven years later, the DSA is indeed a terrifying force

00:05:08.560 that's ready to overthrow the government, along with civilization in general. In less than a

00:05:13.560 decade, socialists who seemed incapable of normal human interaction, much less organizing a

00:05:18.740 significant political party, have won congressional primaries and congressional seats in Philadelphia,

00:05:24.260 Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Denver. They've been elected mayor in major cities like

00:05:29.980 Seattle and, of course, New York. There's another socialist about to take over as mayor of Washington,

00:05:35.040 D.C. Dozens of socialists have won primaries in state legislatures this year. And at the moment,

00:05:41.380 a socialist from the suburbs by the name of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the leading candidate

00:05:46.920 for the Democrat Party's presidential nomination in 2028. What exactly happened here? Well,

00:05:53.900 it's a question that somebody needs to address because nothing like this has ever occurred in

00:05:59.260 American politics, at least not in living memory. And before you say, well, the economy is terrible.

00:06:05.620 It's true that prices are far too high, as we've discussed at great length. It's also true that

00:06:09.980 the economy was doing much, much worse at other points in American history. We went through a

00:06:15.380 depression in which unemployment hit 25 percent. Thousands of banks failed. Stocks dropped by 90

00:06:21.740 percent. And despite that, socialists held very few congressional seats in the 1930s, and they were

00:06:27.400 never close to taking the presidency. In the 1932 presidential election, the socialist candidate

00:06:32.740 finished with something like two percent of the vote. Now, yes, FDR took a lot of momentum out of

00:06:37.880 the socialist movement with the New Deal. He cursed us with much stronger unions, created the Ponzi

00:06:43.280 scheme that is Social Security, set up all kinds of new regulators, dramatically increased government

00:06:48.880 spending, all of which were terrible ideas and all of which were concessions to socialists.

00:06:54.020 But unlike Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren and the rest of the modern Democrats, at no point did

00:06:58.560 FDR endorse the end of capitalism or candidates who wanted to destroy America from within and

00:07:04.380 were open about it. What we're seeing today is new. So while economic factors like the cost of

00:07:09.980 living certainly play a role in the rise of socialism, socialists talk about these issues,

00:07:14.380 pretend to care about them, which they don't, pretend to have answers for them, which they

00:07:19.740 definitely don't, history would indicate that there must be much more to the story.

00:07:25.340 So what exactly is going on? Why is socialism suddenly so compelling to so many people,

00:07:30.860 especially young people? Well, to answer that question, we should look, once again,

00:07:36.140 at a typical gathering of socialists in the United States. Seven years ago, they were fretting about

00:07:41.200 jazz hands, overstimulation, gendered language. What are they doing now? Let's take a look. This

00:07:48.220 is from Hassan Piker's New Roadshow. Hassan Piker, in case you're not familiar, is a socialist with

00:07:53.600 a very large following, not only among the general public, but among Democrat Party elites.

00:07:59.020 He campaigned with Abdul El Saeed for Senate Michigan. He's done friendly appearances with

00:08:03.380 Rashida Tlaib, Ro Khanna, AOC, Ilhan Omar, Francesca Hong, Zoram Amdani, and so on. So he's

00:08:10.320 become, by all accounts, a major figure in the Democrat Party. And here's how he began his show.

00:08:40.320 They're singing along to an AI song about Charlie Kirk, mocking the fact that he was murdered on a college campus for disagreeing with them.

00:09:07.140 And for good measure, they also mock the gospel as well as as well as the fact that, you know, Charlie was a husband and a father.

00:09:14.740 This is another expression of rampant psychopathy and nihilism that we're now seeing from many different corners of this country, from the women who rallied behind Lindsay Clancy because she murdered her children to the outpouring of support on the left for Luigi Mangione.

00:09:30.000 For socialists, it's almost as if, you know, they've gotten tired of being an object of mockery on the Internet.

00:09:35.840 They're no longer interested in doing the jazz hands or the points of personal privilege.

00:09:40.280 Instead, like the typical school shooter, they are heavily medicated, chemically lobotomized,

00:09:47.420 and ready to murder everyone who's more successful than they are,

00:09:51.160 which is to say anyone who has a family or a job or, you know, a reason for existing.

00:11:54.320 they showed a picture from one of the parties with the title, The Cruel Kids Table. You probably

00:11:59.600 remember this. They cropped all the black people out of the photo, as anti-racists tend to do, 0.92

00:12:05.520 and they tried to present the image as nefarious because it showed a bunch of healthy human

00:12:09.900 beings all gathered in one place, God forbid. They truly couldn't comprehend how something

00:12:14.980 like this could happen. How can you have a political movement that's comprised of young 1.00

00:12:19.360 people who aren't about to keel over and die of a massive heart attack? This is not simply

00:12:25.520 an aesthetic observation. It's directly relevant to the question I raised earlier, which was

00:12:30.180 why are the communists so much more motivated and effective now as compared to the 1930s or even six

00:12:38.020 or seven years ago? And one answer, although you won't find it in any political textbook, is that

00:12:44.780 the population is much fatter, more drug addicted, and infinitely more disgusting than it was in the 0.63

00:12:52.620 1930s. Nearly half the country is obese today. It's something like 40%. In the 60s, it was around 0.88

00:12:58.780 12%. We don't have data from the 1930s because no one thought to track it, but the number was

00:13:04.900 probably close to zero. So unlike the Depression era, we now have 100 million people who are

00:13:11.740 disgusted when they look at themselves in the mirror every morning. And although we'd like to

00:13:16.200 pretend there are no political ramifications to that fact, as we all know, and as Will Tanner

00:13:22.060 has said, politics is indistinguishable from biology. If you want to understand how people

00:13:27.340 think and how they vote, you simply cannot ignore how they look and how they eat and how they feel.

00:13:36.600 As Tanner pointed out, look at Robespierre, Danton, or Merritt. Look at any mugshot featuring

00:13:42.980 an Antifa goon. They're all in very rough shape, and that's not an accident. It's also no accident 0.73

00:15:05.900 hangups from the world around them. But socialists, as a rule, have little self-awareness or introspection.

00:15:11.720 They also see themselves as contemptible, unsightly freaks, justifiably so, and that brings out a feeling of abhorrence, which turns into malice, which is then hurled outwards towards the population at large. 0.77

00:19:51.180 watching Hassan Piker streams on Twitch all day, the socialists have leaders. And that's a key

00:19:57.180 point. As I mentioned at the outset, we just produced a lengthy in-depth documentary about

00:20:01.060 communism in addition to MLK and the civil rights movement, two separate documentaries, but very

00:20:07.640 much related. And in that documentary, we cite extensively from the historian Richard Pipes,

00:20:12.420 who has written several books on the topic of the Russian Revolution. And when you read these books,

00:20:17.080 you learn that the epicenter of the Bolshevik takeover was not the working class. The people

00:20:22.340 who were supposed to benefit from the revolution were not the ones who started it. Really, the

00:20:28.560 revolution began in the university system. It was a product of the intelligentsia. Vladimir Lenin

00:20:34.880 and Leon Trotsky came from very comfortable backgrounds. So did the socialists who co-opted

00:20:39.420 various student protests and transformed them into political rallies and then ultimately riots.

00:20:46.040 What the educated, disaffected elite understood better than the conservatives and the

00:20:50.640 traditionalists was how to mobilize the masses. That was the case in imperial Russia and it's

00:20:56.940 the case in America. But the strategy was different by necessity. For one thing, unlike

00:21:01.800 the situation in late Imperial Russia, there's no world war raging at the moment. We don't have

00:21:07.960 bread lines at the moment. No one is starving. That much is very clear. So how can you motivate

00:21:14.820 enough Americans to become communists in order to overwhelm the system and start a revolution?

00:21:20.820 Simply having a very fat population, that's not enough on its own. The fact that communists tend

00:21:26.220 to be fat and hideous does not mean that all fat and hideous people are bound to become communists. 0.99

00:22:54.720 He won the primary, and he's guaranteed a seat in Congress next year.

00:22:58.300 So how does Lulu Lenin justify her support for socialism exactly?

00:23:03.520 Well, here's her response on X when she tried to grapple with this apparent paradox.

00:23:11.140 And it reads, quote,

00:23:11.900 Everyone's trying to dunk on me for being a progressive from a privileged background.

00:23:15.560 But, like, have y'all never heard of noblesse oblige?

00:23:18.820 I have a moral obligation to use my advantages to help those who are struggling.

00:23:24.720 Now, what's funny about this reply, of course, is that noblesse oblige was a principle that

00:23:32.200 preserved the aristocracy and the structure of society at large. It also helped maintain the

00:23:36.800 very direct personal connection between the lords and the underclass. That was kind of the whole

00:23:42.580 point. So to keep the peasants from revolting and destroying everything, the wealthy would

00:23:46.980 occasionally do something for the common good, particularly for the people that they lorded over.

00:23:51.620 In medieval times, the lords would shelter and protect the peasants who worked the land.

00:23:56.320 In more modern adaptations of the principle, the wealthy might fund a public library or establish a school or, you know, a national park or something like that.

00:24:05.520 Now, by itself, there's nothing wrong with noblesse oblige.

00:24:08.160 It certainly beats whatever Mark Zuckerberg is doing.

00:24:11.260 But if you're a chocolate heiress and you support socialism, then by any definition, you're not supporting this principle at all.

00:24:17.720 First of all, you have no personal connection to any of the people that you want to quote-unquote help.

00:24:23.780 And more importantly, what you're advocating as a socialist is the elimination of property rights along with every other law that we have.

00:28:33.720 to abolish the police and so on. And first to protest the Dakota Access Pipeline, he bought

00:28:37.940 some property outside Atlanta that housed more than a dozen people. The residents got thousands 0.74

00:28:42.580 of dollars a month as a stipend before the whole thing fell apart and got sold off. Did something

00:28:47.400 similar in Massachusetts, founding a gym that was closed to landlords and capitalists.

00:30:58.300 You know, they're not coming up with anything on their own.

00:31:00.020 The playbook has always been very clear.

00:31:02.700 From its inception in 1982 in Detroit, Michigan, the DSA has had a consistent approach for

00:31:07.900 seizing power once they had a voter base that was big enough.

00:31:11.600 The founder of the DSA, a professor named Michael Harrington, had been running something called the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee in the 70s.

00:31:19.380 This was a more mainstream leftist group with close ties to the union.

00:31:23.640 And in 1982, Harrington merged his organization with the New American Movement, a feminist anti-war group, to create the DSA.

00:31:30.660 Now, altogether, the organization still wasn't very big. It only had about 6,000 members or so.

00:31:35.500 But Harrington adopted an approach that the DSA still uses to this day.

00:31:38.600 And that approach is important to understand. It's called realignment. So realignment means

00:31:43.680 that instead of competing against the Democrat party, the socialists would infect the party from

00:31:47.940 within and move it to the left over time. Harrington understood that in America's two-party

00:31:53.960 system, a separate DSA party would not accomplish anything. In fact, it would be counterproductive.

00:32:00.040 It would only benefit the Republican party by dividing the opposition, obviously. So the DSA,

00:32:05.140 they didn't follow the lead of the Libertarian Party or the Green Party or the Constitutionalist

00:32:12.060 Party or whatever, or any of these other minor parties in American history. Instead, the DSA

00:32:16.320 began targeting Democrat primaries, which typically have low turnout, especially when it's not an

00:32:21.260 election year, in the hopes of a surprise victory or two to gain momentum. Now, if we go back to the

00:32:27.020 DSA meeting that we opened the show with, the footage from that circus in Georgia, you'll find

00:32:32.540 this strategy of realignment was still a major focus for the dsa and in between lecturing one

00:32:37.180 another on pronouns they were talking about the importance of remaining within the democrat party

00:32:43.660 instead of creating a new one watch hi everyone um my name is sam lewis uh he him i'm from the

00:32:51.420 new york city dsa chapter um this very simple amendment is to strike the language about forming

00:32:59.740 an independent party. In conversation with the authors of the proposal since, I think we're all

00:33:07.780 in agreement that we do want to build a mass organization, political organization of the

00:33:13.240 working class that vies for state power. So it's not an attempt to get rid of that shared goal.

00:33:20.320 The problem with the language as I see it is that it counterposes forming an independent

00:33:25.540 working class party with the tactical use of the democratic line. So it's basically saying in the

00:33:30.900 future we will break with our tactical use of the democratic line. I think many of us have an

00:33:36.360 agnostic position on that question, right? We want to behave in the most strategic way as class

00:33:42.900 politics in this country develops. We don't want to commit to what has historically been a failed 0.55

00:33:47.900 strategy in the United States of forming a third party ballot line. So I consider this a friendly

00:33:54.040 debate. I will be voting for the proposal of whether or not this passes, but I think it's

00:34:00.860 important to discuss. Thank you. So this sounds like an obvious idea in retrospect, but it's

00:34:06.280 actually one of the keys to the success of the DSA, and it's been written into their DNA since

00:34:11.100 the 1980s when they were founded. They were always going to infiltrate the Democrat Party

00:34:16.300 on the theory that, like the ruling party of the Tsar in Imperial Russia, the establishment class

00:34:22.820 at the DNC would be too slow and too timid to respond to a socialist surge. And of course they

00:34:29.100 were right. Took a few decades, but the strategy is now paying off, we have to admit. To this day,

00:34:36.000 no establishment Democrat has declared war on these people or tried to establish any daylight

00:34:40.520 whatsoever. Quite the opposite. Leading Democrats from Adam Schiff to Elizabeth Warren have aligned

00:34:45.900 with the DSA and their candidates. Meanwhile, the DSA is openly talking about murdering their

00:34:50.940 political opponents. They're celebrating 9-11. They're holding planning sessions where they

00:34:55.980 describe their plans to rip up the U.S. Constitution. The journalist Natalie Winters obtained this

00:35:02.660 footage of DSA steering committee member Cliff Connolly describing what the DSA has in store

00:35:09.740 for this country. Watch. So the two things that we're famous for is our commitment to a program

00:35:17.500 and our hatred of the United States Constitution.

00:35:23.620 And what the program does is it gives us a roadmap to revolution,

00:35:27.920 and it gives us the obstacle that we finally will have to get over to have a revolution,

00:35:33.140 which is the United States Constitution, the basis of the United States government.

00:35:37.720 And what the minimum maximum program specifically,

00:35:41.300 what that format specifically gives us is that roadmap.

00:35:45.700 It gives us the minimum circumstances under which we would be able to take power and govern.

00:35:52.760 And it gives us the maximum program, which is the goals that we're actually aiming for.

00:35:56.840 It also clarifies democracy as both the end goal and as part of the process to get there ensures the internal party democracy that we want to see in DSA.

00:36:07.760 So it really wraps up the revolutionary tradition of democracy that I think socialism and abolitionism in the United States have always been a part of.

00:36:19.380 In other meetings, DSA members are openly discussing their takeover of the Democrat Party and how they finally assumed control of it. Here it is.

00:36:33.280 We can actually start to grab hold of the ship of state and steer it in our direction, but it's going to be a violent process.
