00:00:00.840 Someone who obviously knows how I operate sent me a tweet last night and said, can this please not be what you talk about tomorrow?
00:00:09.720 And he's referring to, of course, Fartgate, the fart heard around the world, the fart that changed the course of history.
00:00:18.800 That is Representative Eric Swalwell farting on live TV last night.
00:00:23.740 This person who sent me this obviously knows me well, but at the same time knows me not at all, because there is no way that I could open the show the day after such an event talking about anything but this story.
00:00:39.380 We could literally have landed on Mars in the meantime and discovered a sentient race of unicorns who possess the cure to diabetes and herpes, and I still would be talking about this first.
00:00:52.680 Why? Well, because it's clearly the most important political story of our time.
00:00:58.060 I dare you to come up with a more important story. Can you?
00:01:04.500 But it's a story like any political story that is not without controversy.
00:01:08.740 So first, let's go right to the tape. You've already seen the footage, but we're going to go and we're going to look at it again.
00:01:14.940 We're going to use our eyes and our ears and even even our noses, and we're going to try to to to take a closer look here is Chris or Eric Swalwell with Chris Matthews talking about.
00:01:29.540 Well, I don't know what he was talking about. It doesn't matter. It's not the conjectures of his mouth.
00:01:33.920 We are concerned with right now. But take a listen.
00:01:37.980 The evidence is uncontradicted that the president used taxpayer dollars to ask the Ukrainians to help him cheat an election.
00:01:44.800 And the complaint that I've heard from now, Swalwell, according to a BuzzFeed report, has denied that he was the source of the rectal emission.
00:01:54.700 He seems to want to blame somebody off camera. He's he's scrambling now.
00:02:00.520 OK, this is a man who is panicked. This is like a man who, you know, lets out a fart in the office break room because he's alone, only to have somebody walk into the room three seconds later.
00:02:11.260 And now it's only him and the other person and the putrid stench. And they both know what happened.
00:02:17.580 So what's he going to do? Is he going to face up to it or is he going to come up with a wild story?
00:02:22.660 Swalwell, of course, lacks the honor to own his deeds and the deeds of his lower intestines.
00:02:29.120 And there are fart truthers out there right now who want to want to kind of assist him in this cover up coming up with elaborate conspiracy theories.
00:02:38.720 Some people are even blaming Chris Matthews.
00:02:42.300 OK, Chris Matthews, the elderly man, engaging in stereotypes and say, well, he's the older guy.
00:02:48.560 Of course, he's the one who farted. Accusing Matthews of framing Swalwell, which, if that were true, would would be completely awesome.
00:02:58.540 It would actually make Chris Matthews maybe one of the great American heroes in our country's history.
00:03:05.420 But that's not true.
00:03:07.060 OK, the wisdom of the third grader, as always, holds here.
00:03:11.540 He who denies it indeed supplies it.
00:03:14.980 And Eric Swalwell last night had an abundance of supply.
00:03:18.760 He had a veritable surplus.
00:03:21.300 But I don't want you to take my word for it.
00:03:23.820 I want you to let Swalwell's flatulence speak for itself.
00:03:26.800 Let's go back to the tape.
00:03:28.960 I want you to watch it again.
00:03:30.100 And this time, pay close attention to Swalwell's body language and his speech patterns.
00:03:35.980 So watch one more time.
00:03:37.860 The evidence is uncontradicted that the president used taxpayer dollars to ask the Ukrainians to help him cheat an election.
00:03:44.680 And the complaint that I've heard from...
00:03:46.040 Notice how he pauses right at the crucial moment.
00:03:49.760 And this is key right here.
00:03:51.700 This is what it all comes down to.
00:03:53.220 Did he pause a millisecond before ignition?
00:04:00.540 Did he?
00:04:01.560 If he did, he's guilty.
00:04:04.060 Notice, too, how he slightly elevates his body.
00:04:06.720 There's a slight...
00:04:07.260 It's very subtle, but there's a slight turn of the body.
00:04:10.060 And what he's doing is he's trying to clear passageway for a silent omission.
00:04:13.140 That's what he thinks is going to happen.
00:04:14.700 There's a drama unfolding in his mind and in his bowels.
00:04:17.880 He knows something is coming.
00:04:19.140 OK, you can tell it in his face, his facial expression.
00:04:22.300 He is pregnant with dread and anticipation and the chimichanga that he had for dinner.
00:04:29.160 So I want you to look.
00:04:30.240 Look at this.
00:04:30.680 Look at the freeze frame of his face three seconds before liftoff.
00:04:34.200 This is what he looked like.
00:04:35.840 Now, he knows a fart is coming.
00:04:37.840 He knows what's coming.
00:04:39.180 But he makes two crucial errors.
00:04:40.900 He pauses right before the event.
00:04:44.620 And fatally, his fart deceived him.
00:04:47.180 Now, he's expecting a silent ejection.
00:04:49.500 But instead, it burst forth with vigor.
00:04:52.940 It came out announcing itself loud and proud and opinionated.
00:04:59.380 And you can see in Swalwell's face the dejection, the panic, the despair, that feeling of betrayal.
00:05:05.280 And we've all been betrayed in this way.
00:05:06.940 It's just that not usually on live TV.
00:05:10.680 Josh Jordan on Twitter has a slow motion video that puts, I think, all doubt to rest.
00:05:14.680 Because here you're going to see, this is what's going to settle it.
00:05:17.220 You're going to see the pause right before the fart.
00:05:21.500 Watch one more time.
00:05:31.880 There it is.
00:05:36.500 The pause.
00:05:37.880 The lift.
00:05:39.200 The fart.
00:05:39.580 And if you needed any more corroboration, here is Eric Swalwell in 2013.
00:05:46.300 This is his own Twitter account.
00:05:48.280 Speaking to a group of Democrats on St. Patrick's Day.
00:05:51.480 His message, and this is real, I promise.
00:05:53.380 This was his message.
00:05:54.120 He says, may the wind always be at your back.
00:05:57.800 But let your ideas move you forward.
00:06:00.640 The wind at your back.
00:06:02.960 Eric Swalwell knew.
00:06:05.920 Six years ago.
00:06:09.260 What he was going to do.
00:06:11.760 Okay, this isn't about what he knew was going to happen three seconds before.
00:06:15.980 He's been planning this for years.
00:06:18.420 Everything has been leading up to this moment.
00:06:20.860 This was not just some errant gas.
00:06:24.200 Passed by an innocent man.
00:06:25.640 On a normal Monday.
00:06:28.200 This, his whole career has been leading to this.
00:06:31.340 He had always planned.
00:06:33.160 To lull us into a false sense of security.
00:06:36.100 So that he could come along.
00:06:38.260 When we least expected.
00:06:40.020 When we weren't paying attention.
00:06:41.980 When we weren't prepared.
00:06:44.060 When we were utterly defenseless.
00:06:46.080 And fart in our collective faces.
00:06:49.000 Eric Swalwell.
00:06:49.880 Eric Fartwell.
00:06:51.620 Eric Fartsmell.
00:06:52.760 Eric Don't Smell Well.
00:06:54.860 This man's a mad genius.
00:06:57.360 And in the end, he won.
00:06:59.820 This is a story for the ages.
00:07:01.480 And this is a fart that will live for all time.
00:07:04.880 And now a word from Brickhouse Nutrition.
00:07:09.260 Have you ever wondered why so many Americans seem to be sick, unhealthy, overweight?
00:07:13.200 Between the food supply, the sedentary lifestyle, Americans are in the worst shape that they've ever been.
00:07:17.800 And that's why the team of on-staff physicians at Brickhouse Nutrition created Field of Greens.
00:07:21.840 Field of Greens is an easy way for you to add fruits and vegetables to your daily routine without spending hours in the produce section.
00:07:27.760 Without hiring a home chef or taking cheap supplements.
00:07:31.020 And I know I've discovered this as a parent that just keeping a supply of produce and fruits and stuff in the house is very, very difficult.
00:07:39.340 When you've got a bunch of kids.
00:07:41.060 And produce is also super expensive.
00:07:43.420 Field of Greens, though.
00:07:44.520 That's where they come in.
00:07:45.340 They're made with real USDA organic fruits and vegetables.
00:07:48.020 It also helps to boost your immunity using antioxidants and assist digestive health with prebiotics, probiotics.
00:07:53.600 It's like having a doctor and nutritionist right in your kitchen.
00:07:57.160 One scoop delivers a full serving of fruits and vegetables.
00:07:59.840 You just drop it in a cup of water.
00:08:01.160 Stir.
00:08:01.660 Drink it.
00:08:02.020 You're done.
00:08:03.000 It's also great for smoothies.
00:08:04.240 Very easy.
00:08:05.460 Nutritional.
00:08:06.360 It's got everything you want.
00:08:07.660 Bottom line, this is real food, not extracts.
00:08:10.200 And you will look and feel better.
00:08:11.580 Go to BrickhouseWalsh.com.
00:08:13.360 Get 15% off your first order just for trying it out with the promo code Walsh.
00:08:17.520 That's BrickhouseWalsh.com.
00:08:20.020 Promo code Walsh.
00:08:21.260 Okay, all this talk of farting, I think, is a good segue here into fast food, Chick-fil-A.
00:08:32.640 One of the, and I'll admit, although it is fast food, it's one of the less gaseous fast foods out there, to its credit.
00:08:41.780 But also, it had been one of the last remaining large companies to stand in defiance of PC police and the LGBT rage mob, yet they have suddenly and inexplicably caved, as you may have heard yesterday.
00:08:55.660 Chick-fil-A president and chief operating officer, Tim Tassopoulos announced in an interview that the company's no longer going to donate to certain Christian charities that the aforementioned rage mob has deemed anti-LGBT.
00:09:12.920 Tassopoulos says that as the company goes into, quote, new markets, he wants to, quote, be clear about who we are.
00:09:19.300 He wants to be clear about who we are.
00:09:21.600 And who they are appears to confirm the old, you know, maxim about you are what you eat.
00:09:25.780 Well, in this case, I guess they are what they serve.
00:09:28.780 The website BizNow has a little bit more information.
00:09:32.160 It says, quote, beginning next year, Chick-fil-A will move away from its current philanthropic structure.
00:09:36.680 BizNow has learned after donating to more than 300 charitable organizations through the year,
00:09:40.180 the Atlanta-based fast food chain will instead focus on three initiatives with one accompanying charity each, education, homelessness, and hunger.
00:09:48.260 And which charities now are going to lose out now that Chick-fil-A has shifted focus to education, homelessness, and hunger?
00:09:56.080 Well, the company has confirmed that it's breaking ties with Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Paul Anderson Youth Home.
00:10:05.200 In other words, it will stop donating to charities that help with education, homelessness, and hunger in order to focus on education, homelessness, and hunger, if that makes any sense, which it doesn't.
00:10:19.200 But, of course, we know the real sin of these unfortunate organizations is not that they fail to help exactly the people that Chick-fil-A claims it wants to help, but that they are all Christian.
00:10:29.300 And as LGBT protesters have been screaming ever since Chick-fil-A founder or CEO Dan Cathy defended biblical marriage in that interview, but seven years ago, ever since then.
00:10:41.860 And they haven't gotten over it.
00:10:43.320 In seven years, they couldn't get over it.
00:10:45.660 But ever since then, they've been saying that the fact that Chick-fil-A donates to Christian charities makes them anti-LGBT.
00:10:54.340 The very fact that charities are Christian makes them anti-LGBT.
00:10:57.720 And finally, I guess Chick-fil-A agrees.
00:11:01.980 Speaking of the Salvation Army, we talked about this last week.
00:11:04.660 Just last week, the pop singer Ellie Goulding threatened to pull out of her halftime performance during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving game because of the NFL's association with the Salvation Army.
00:11:16.000 Of course, Goulding did relent on that threat.
00:11:18.760 And every football fan wishes that she hadn't.
00:11:21.360 That's one thing we really wish she would have stuck by her guns on that one because none of us are interested in hearing a halftime performance from Ellie Goulding.
00:11:27.500 Whoever that is.
00:11:29.260 But she pulls out or she relents on that threat.
00:11:32.780 And then Chick-fil-A decides to jump on the dog pile anyway a week later.
00:11:38.700 Essentially, implicitly endorsing this idea that the Salvation Army is, quote, anti-LGBT.
00:11:46.640 Now, this change of heart is confounding because, yes, they've been boycotted on and off for the past seven years.
00:11:58.300 Yes, LGBT activists have been lashing out against them.
00:12:01.340 Yes, they've been accused of making hate chicken, whatever that is.
00:12:05.160 And if that if that was hate chicken, then I guess hate is very is pretty tasty.
00:12:10.200 It's a pretty tasty ingredient we discovered over the last seven years.
00:12:14.480 I don't know if that's something they mix into the breading or say, you know, I mean, I've made fried chicken sandwiches.
00:12:19.640 I can't make them as good as Chick-fil-A.
00:12:21.980 Maybe it's because I'm not putting enough hate into it.
00:12:26.460 But anyway, yes, they've been accused of that.
00:12:30.360 But none of that has negatively affected the bottom line.
00:12:35.580 In fact, the opposite was the case.
00:12:37.920 The initial boycott in 2012 gave rise to Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, which I remember.
00:12:43.420 I went to a Chick-fil-A that day.
00:12:44.880 And there were lines literally around the block.
00:12:47.660 There were lines wrapping around the store.
00:12:50.540 Hundreds of people waiting in line to show their support for Chick-fil-A by eating, purchasing and eating a tasty chicken sandwich.
00:12:59.980 And the enthusiasm never really died down.
00:13:02.560 Chick-fil-A rose in popularity during the intervening years, tripling its sales,
00:13:06.800 becoming one of the top three restaurant chains in the country.
00:13:10.780 So this was a not just an example of a company refusing to relent to an outrage mob,
00:13:25.240 but this was a company thriving in spite of it.
00:13:28.000 And I think partially because of it.
00:13:31.960 Now, most people who have been Chick-fil-A customers over the last seven years, myself included,
00:13:36.800 we weren't going there just because of all this.
00:13:39.680 We were going there because we liked the food.
00:13:41.760 But I think most of us, and I know I've done this before,
00:13:44.420 there have been times when you're not really sure what you're in the mood for,
00:13:48.320 and you need a quick bite, and you're going down a stretch of road,
00:13:51.040 and there's 50 different fast food restaurants all around.
00:13:53.840 And you're trying to decide who to go with.
00:13:56.240 You decide Chick-fil-A.
00:13:57.520 And what Chick-fil-A stands for and their courage in standing up to the LGBT rage mob
00:14:02.900 does factor into that decision.
00:14:04.920 So it's sort of like when there's a tie and you're trying to decide between two options for food,
00:14:09.820 that becomes a tiebreaker.
00:14:11.440 At least that's how it works for me.
00:14:12.960 And I suspect for a lot of other people.
00:14:16.020 So this capitulation, it's not like it's going to stop the bleeding because there was no bleeding.
00:14:21.380 Now there might be.
00:14:25.140 So this move is much more likely to alienate Chick-fil-A supporters than to appease its critics.
00:14:32.180 This is, prior to this, they had upset people who, for the most part,
00:14:38.420 weren't even Chick-fil-A customers to begin with.
00:14:41.460 And they were so worried about upsetting their non-customers
00:14:44.740 that now they're upsetting their actual customers.
00:14:47.360 That is not a smart business decision.
00:14:48.920 Surrender, surrendering to political correctness never pays off.
00:14:55.040 And Chick-fil-A is not going to be the exception to that rule.
00:14:59.080 Now, personally, let me just say, I don't care what charities Chick-fil-A donates to.
00:15:05.400 That's their decision.
00:15:07.120 It's their right.
00:15:08.120 They're fair.
00:15:08.800 I don't care.
00:15:10.060 And I'm not saying I'm going to boycott Chick-fil-A now because I'm not.
00:15:13.960 Their chicken sandwiches are still delicious.
00:15:15.700 And if I'm in the mood for it and there's a Chick-fil-A there, I'm going to go there.
00:15:21.340 And when I'm in the drive-thru ordering lunch, my primary concern is, is the food good?
00:15:27.980 I'm not thinking about the politics and everything else.
00:15:31.480 But it is still disappointing.
00:15:33.160 And it's really somewhat bewildering to see them cave like this.
00:15:39.020 Their refusal until now was important for reasons that have nothing to do with gay marriage or homosexuality.
00:15:46.660 It was just good to have at least one major company with the stones to defy the rage mob.
00:15:52.680 And it was good to see this example of them, again, doing that and thriving because of it.
00:16:00.660 Where you see that you don't have to, not only do you not have to surrender to the rage mob, and not only will it not help you, but it may actually profit you if you don't.
00:16:11.020 So, regardless of the reason for their defiance of the rage mob or the issue at the center of the controversy, regardless of that, just the defiance itself was the point.
00:16:24.940 It's the principle of the thing.
00:16:27.700 And their surrender, on the other hand, has no point.
00:16:31.440 And this is what Chick-fil-A is now going to learn the hard way, as have so many before them.
00:16:38.440 You cannot appease the mob.
00:16:40.680 It doesn't matter if you give them what they want.
00:16:43.620 It doesn't matter if you fall to your feet confessing your sins, begging forgiveness.
00:16:49.300 All that your self-abdication will do is empower and encourage your critics.
00:16:54.120 It's not going to get them to forgive you.
00:16:56.060 Not that Chick-fil-A had anything to be forgiven for in the first place.
00:16:59.440 But this is not, we don't live in a culture of forgiveness.
00:17:04.720 This is a culture of scalp claiming.
00:17:06.900 This is, you take the scalp.
00:17:09.320 If somebody falls to your feet asking for forgiveness, you scalp them.
00:17:13.140 That's what we do now in this culture.
00:17:16.980 And so, now for Chick-fil-A, yeah, they're going to happily take your scalp.
00:17:21.180 They're going to celebrate the victory.
00:17:23.060 And they're going to move on to their next target.
00:17:25.560 You aren't their friend now.
00:17:27.400 You aren't their ally.
00:17:29.440 You're just a trophy on the shelf.
00:17:31.760 So, congratulations for that.
00:17:33.400 In fact, GLAAD, the gay organization, Gay and Lesbian Alliance, whatever it's called, they released a statement yesterday.
00:17:44.680 And I don't have the statement in front of me, but it shows exactly this.
00:17:49.180 They didn't release a statement saying, oh, we forgive you, Chick-fil-A, for your horrible hate chicken.
00:17:53.740 And we're so happy that, and we welcome you with open arms.
00:17:56.820 And we're going to, now we're all going to show up at the Chick-fil-A and buy chicken.
00:18:00.500 They didn't say that.
00:18:02.480 What they basically said was, okay, good for you, but you're still bigots.
00:18:06.520 You're, you're still discriminatory.
00:18:07.880 You still need to do A, B, C, X, Y, Z, 1, 2, 3.
00:18:11.260 Here are steps we still need you to follow.
00:18:14.520 They're not satisfied.
00:18:16.080 They're never going to be.
00:18:17.580 I've mentioned before that the children's book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, is, I think, one of the most prophetic books of our time.
00:18:29.240 And in that book, that book's all about, if I remember, it's been a while since I've read it.
00:18:33.780 But in that book, you've got a greedy, gluttonous, psychotic mouse who demands a cookie from this kid.
00:18:44.020 And the kid gives the cookie and thinks that, okay, the mouse is going to be happy now because he got his cookie.
00:18:49.380 But then, no, he wants a glass of milk.
00:18:51.880 And then, no, he wants a napkin.
00:18:54.280 And, no, actually, he wants a sandwich, too.
00:18:56.560 He's still hungry.
00:18:57.880 And now he wants a glass of water.
00:18:59.340 And before long, this kid is destitute, living on the street, homeless, and starving.
00:19:10.000 That's how the book ends.
00:19:11.120 It's pretty dark, at least as I recall.
00:19:13.980 But the point is, you give them one thing, and they want another and another and another.
00:19:19.760 And they're just never, ever satisfied.
00:19:22.660 Ever.
00:19:24.640 And that's what Chick-fil-A, all they had to do was look at examples around them.
00:19:29.340 Dick's Sporting Goods decides to start destroying their own guns to try to make friends with the left.
00:19:39.640 The left still isn't impressed.
00:19:41.220 And besides, these people aren't really customers of Dick's Sporting Goods in the first place.
00:19:46.080 These aren't sporty people.
00:19:47.620 These aren't outdoorsy people who are going and buying fishing tackle or anything like that.
00:19:52.280 They're not going there and buying baseball or football helmets or whatever, baseball gloves.
00:19:58.760 They're not doing that.
00:20:01.380 So you've tried to appease them.
00:20:03.740 They're not impressed.
00:20:05.200 They're not even customers of yours to begin with, and they're not going to be now.
00:20:10.300 And Dick's Sporting Goods has lost millions of dollars in the meantime.
00:20:14.380 The Boy Scouts.
00:20:15.520 The Boy Scouts basically self-immolated.
00:20:18.600 They just set their whole organization on fire to please the left.
00:20:22.700 Said that, okay, we're not Boy Scouts anymore.
00:20:24.660 You don't even have to be a boy.
00:20:25.540 You'll be a girl.
00:20:26.240 You know, transgender, gay, everything.
00:20:28.440 We're all, we're bringing it all in.
00:20:30.760 The left still doesn't care.
00:20:32.100 They're not impressed.
00:20:33.480 Now the Boy Scouts are basically bankrupt.
00:20:37.420 Think of many examples of this kind of thing.
00:20:39.360 The NFL, appeasing the left on the anthem thing, yet again, didn't pay off.
00:20:48.100 Chick-fil-A looks at all these examples.
00:20:50.500 Gillette.
00:20:51.760 Okay, Gillette comes out with an ad insulting their own customers, denigrating masculinity.
00:20:59.120 And they, they have this ad, they offer it up on the altar as a sacrifice to the left, saying, please, masters, look what we have presented.
00:21:08.320 We have, we have, we have, we have, we have burned our own customers at the stake as a, as a burnt offering to you.
00:21:14.480 Do you accept our sacrifice?
00:21:15.800 And the left says, nah, get out of here.
00:21:17.220 You still suck.
00:21:19.600 Gillette loses millions of dollars.
00:21:22.020 Chick-fil-A sees all of these examples and they say, yeah, let me give that a shot.
00:21:25.500 It's absolutely crazy.
00:21:33.000 But you know what?
00:21:34.100 Popeye's is better anyway.
00:21:36.520 So who cares?
00:21:37.860 And now a word from Policy Genius.
00:21:39.780 Tis the season to elect benefits through your workplace.
00:21:42.760 Most people know that open enrollment is decision time for healthcare coverage.
00:21:46.420 But it's, it's also the perfect moment to reassess your life insurance needs and think about what you actually need, what your family needs.
00:21:52.740 To properly provide for their families, most people need 10 times life insurance coverage that they currently get through their jobs.
00:22:00.480 So most people, if you're like most people on average, you're getting a 10th of what you need.
00:22:04.320 Your family is getting a 10th of what they're going to need, which means that your employer life insurance is leaving you underinsured.
00:22:09.640 That is where Policy Genius can help.
00:22:11.840 Policy Genius is the easy way to shop for a life insurance plan that's not tied to your job.
00:22:16.320 In minutes, you can compare quotes from top insurers to find your best price.
00:22:19.860 And once you apply, the Policy Genius team will handle all the paperwork, all the red tape.
00:22:23.640 They're going to take care of all that.
00:22:24.480 You don't have to worry about it.
00:22:25.660 So it makes it very easy on you.
00:22:27.180 The life insurance you buy through Policy Genius stays with you, even if you leave your job.
00:22:30.980 So when you're looking at your workplace benefits this month, make sure to double check your life insurance options.
00:22:36.300 Then go to policygenius.com to get quotes and apply in minutes.
00:22:40.460 Policy Genius, the easy way to compare and buy life insurance.
00:22:44.220 Okay, somebody emailed this to me, and I want to go over it with you because I think it's a really perfect example of how the left tends to operate, namely by tossing labels around with no regard for the actual reality, with no attempt to be coherent in the placement of the labels that they're tossing around.
00:23:05.480 So the website Pink News has a big headline.
00:23:10.380 Headline is, Right-wing Religious Bigot for Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire manages to be transphobic and racist in just 27 seconds.
00:23:21.820 And this, of course, is about yours truly.
00:23:24.600 And that is pretty efficient of me, you have to admit.
00:23:28.220 Transphobic and racist in 27 seconds?
00:23:30.600 It's got to be a Guinness Booker, you know, record right there.
00:23:37.040 But let's take a look at the article and see how they, because they've made two accusations here in the headline.
00:23:44.480 Transphobic, racist.
00:23:46.320 Let's see how they present the evidence that I am those things.
00:23:51.260 It says, Matt Walsh, a frequent writer for the religious right.
00:23:55.560 I'm a frequent writer for the religious right, they say.
00:23:59.320 I'm not a writer for the Daily Wire, I'm a writer for the religious right.
00:24:03.540 As an organization, the religious right organization has hired me as a writer.
00:24:09.460 They send me assignments via email.
00:24:13.480 Their email address, religiousright at gmail.com.
00:24:16.960 And they tell me what to write about, and so I write about them, whatever they say.
00:24:20.320 So it says, Matt Walsh, a frequent writer for the religious right, spoke earlier this week at the California State University, Los Angeles.
00:24:28.160 The event was hosted by the Young Americans for Freedom, a conservative youth group.
00:24:32.460 The Daily Wire's founder, Ben Shapiro, is a vocal right-wing campaigner who has consistently hit out against the trans and non-binary communities.
00:24:39.540 While speaking in front of a packed room, Walsh said that trans people cheapened womanhood and compared their existence to a costume that a man can wear.
00:24:48.660 That's true, I did say both those things.
00:24:51.740 He added, if it's cultural appropriation for a white man to dress like a black man, isn't it all the more appropriation for a man to dress like a woman?
00:24:59.620 He went further to claim that trans people's very existence ferments confusion in the minds of children.
00:25:05.600 I said foments, but really ferments works too, I suppose.
00:25:08.560 And that trans people reduce gender to an abstract concept that we theorize about.
00:25:13.740 Walsh then alleged, Walsh then said, this is especially ironic considering the concern for cultural appropriation.
00:25:20.700 Walsh then alleged that some parents first realized that their boy is a girl because he played with dolls.
00:25:26.540 A boy with dolls used to be girly, now you're saying he's literally a girl?
00:25:30.760 If a boy who exhibits womanly characteristics is therefore a girl, then those gender constructs, far from being torn down,
00:25:35.960 are far more potent and powerful than any conservative ever made them out to be.
00:25:40.000 That was me, they were quoting me there.
00:25:42.640 A number of Twitter users lit into Walsh's transphobic and racist words.
00:25:47.420 And then they quote a bunch of random Twitter people complaining about me.
00:25:52.180 And that's it.
00:25:53.540 Okay, that's it.
00:25:54.580 That's the article.
00:25:56.380 You notice something here?
00:25:57.800 Maybe you noticed it.
00:25:59.500 Because they came in hot with the headline and they're making big claims.
00:26:04.500 Transphobic and racist in 27 seconds.
00:26:06.660 There is no attempt made, none at all, to actually explain how what I said qualifies as transphobic.
00:26:17.220 Or even what transphobic actually means, because I've got to be honest with you, I don't even know what that means.
00:26:23.280 I'm familiar with the term, I hear it a lot.
00:26:25.540 I don't know what you mean by that.
00:26:29.580 But you could explain it.
00:26:32.720 No attempt made.
00:26:33.660 They just didn't even try.
00:26:38.540 And there's also no attempt made to explain why I'm wrong.
00:26:43.040 So they quote me saying a bunch of stuff and they did quote me accurately, except for the one word they got wrong, but that's fine.
00:26:49.700 And I'm glad they quoted that because I'm reading back the article just now and I'm thinking, wow, I made some great points.
00:26:56.740 Those are actually really good points.
00:26:57.940 I got to give that speech again.
00:27:01.560 So to me, I read that.
00:27:03.060 Now, I'm biased, of course, because I'm the one who said it.
00:27:04.940 But to me, I read that and I think, well, those are legitimate points.
00:27:08.120 I don't know what the problem is here.
00:27:10.600 If there's a problem, you could try to explain what the issue is.
00:27:14.280 But again, they don't even try.
00:27:18.500 I'm alleging that men who dress like women are appropriating womanhood.
00:27:22.120 Yes, that is my allegation.
00:27:24.780 Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying.
00:27:26.500 How is that bigoted?
00:27:28.440 Explain to me how it's bigoted.
00:27:31.640 Please explain it.
00:27:33.360 And forget about bigoted.
00:27:34.760 Just explain why it's wrong.
00:27:36.480 You don't even have to.
00:27:37.260 I'll let you go on the bigoted thing.
00:27:38.580 I don't even care.
00:27:39.440 Just explain how I'm wrong.
00:27:43.440 Where do I go wrong?
00:27:44.700 Where's the error?
00:27:47.660 See, I run into this all the time when I talk about this issue and I make points like this.
00:27:52.320 Especially with things like, you know, it's an appropriation of womanhood.
00:27:58.800 In that same speech, I say that men dressing in drag is like a female blackface.
00:28:04.180 Degrading, offensive.
00:28:07.240 A caricature, a mockery.
00:28:10.800 And that's another one where I think actually the media matters.
00:28:14.600 A few days ago, they got me on the female blackface thing.
00:28:18.380 They posted a thing on their Twitter saying that I'm a bigot for that.
00:28:22.220 Again, not explaining why is that bigoted.
00:28:25.000 Also, why is it wrong?
00:28:26.860 And I'm not exaggerating or this is, I, seriously, I have yet to hear from one single leftist,
00:28:36.280 LGBT, you know, activist, any of these people.
00:28:39.760 I've heard from many of them screaming at me, calling me a bigot, saying, how dare you say these things.
00:28:44.860 I've heard, I've heard from them.
00:28:46.960 Not a single one of them has even tried to actually engage with the point that I'm making.
00:28:54.980 And demonstrate why it's wrong.
00:28:57.320 Not a single one.
00:28:58.800 So I open the invitation again to anyone who happens to be watching this.
00:29:05.280 And I know Media Matters is watching this.
00:29:07.160 And so Media Matters, maybe if you want to do me a favor and you're always clipping my show
00:29:10.520 and I appreciate all the promo, the promotion you do for the show.
00:29:13.180 And it's really been, it has been indispensable.
00:29:15.220 I'm serious.
00:29:16.020 And I do thank you for that.
00:29:17.540 If you maybe want to clip what I'm saying right now, put it on your Twitter.
00:29:21.480 I mean, this is a challenge I'm opening to any liberal, leftist, LGBT, whatever.
00:29:25.620 Anyone who disagrees with me.
00:29:28.940 The points that I just read from that Pink News article.
00:29:32.200 Explain why I'm wrong.
00:29:33.640 Try.
00:29:34.600 I dare you to try.
00:29:36.680 Because I don't think you can.
00:29:39.960 It's just like the challenge I have put forth a million times about define what the word woman.
00:29:45.220 What is a woman?
00:29:46.960 No one's done it yet.
00:29:48.960 So I, once again, I throw it out there.
00:29:51.180 Please just give it a shot.
00:29:53.060 Yes, I say that a man dressing up like a woman is an appropriation of womanhood.
00:30:03.340 It is the very definition of appropriation.
00:30:07.800 Tell me why I'm wrong.
00:30:08.800 And then, hilariously, they throw in the charge of racism completely at random.
00:30:16.580 The writer doesn't even get into the ballpark of explaining why I'm racist.
00:30:20.280 This, what, racist?
00:30:21.660 This, where, where are you getting that from?
00:30:25.420 I think at this point, it's, it's, it's an instinct for these people.
00:30:28.840 They just, they, they can't help it on the left.
00:30:30.980 They, they, it's, it's, it's like, it's Tourette's syndrome at this point.
00:30:34.380 They hear a point they don't like, and it's just racist, transphobic, homophobic.
00:30:39.800 It, it doesn't even matter what was said.
00:30:42.900 Racist?
00:30:45.060 Okay, you've got a lot of work to do in explaining why I'm transphobic, whatever that means.
00:30:50.720 Work that, again, begins with explaining what the word even means.
00:30:53.860 You got a lot of work to do there.
00:30:55.220 But to explain why that is racist, um, go ahead.
00:31:00.440 But again, I, I, I, I welcome, encourage, ask for, I plead for someone to try to engage with these points.
00:31:13.140 Tell me how it's racist.
00:31:14.060 And, and this is why, you know, labels, we're at a point now where these labels just don't really mean anything anymore.
00:31:27.060 Anymore, because you, you've used, you use them all the time.
00:31:31.800 And, and they have become synonymous with, I don't agree with you.
00:31:38.120 So when you call, what, the person who wrote that headline, calling me racist, obviously there's nothing racist in there.
00:31:45.640 What they mean is, I don't like this guy.
00:31:48.940 He makes me upset.
00:31:49.960 He makes my tummy hurt.
00:31:50.940 And, and, and so this is what I'm calling.
00:31:53.020 That's what they mean when they say it.
00:31:57.060 And that really is a problem because, you know, um, even though I'm not sure what transphobic means, I do know what racist means.
00:32:06.660 Racism is a real thing that exists in the world, not just in America, not just in white countries.
00:32:12.240 It exists across the world.
00:32:14.320 It's existed throughout history.
00:32:16.340 It's a bad thing.
00:32:17.620 It has been the starting point for many atrocities and human rights violations and, and, and all kinds of terrible, awful, bloody, uh, oppressive things throughout history.
00:32:32.160 So racism is a real thing.
00:32:34.840 Um, and that's what makes it all the worse that you on the left have removed all meaning from this word.
00:32:44.780 And talk about cheapening and degrading things.
00:32:48.100 You have cheapened the, the, the word racism.
00:32:51.060 So that now when you say that the word and you call someone racist, it could be that the person you're calling racist actually is racist because there are racist people out there.
00:33:02.680 So it's possible that you could mean that, but you could also just, it could also just be a temper tantrum.
00:33:09.320 It could also just be verbal diarrhea.
00:33:11.100 It could just be, uh, the leftist version of Tourette syndrome.
00:33:14.100 And I don't know because of how you have hollowed out this term from your consistent, relentless abuse of it.
00:33:28.980 All right, before we get to emails, um, in honor of the hilarious self-owned by Liz Warren, tweeting that she's selling billionaire tears mugs on Shopify that actually are going to enrich its billionaire founder.
00:33:39.680 We here at the daily wire are offering 20% off all, uh, off all access and insider plus subscriptions.
00:33:45.900 When you use the promo code warrantiers and with the insider plus and all access, you get the incredible leftist tears, hot or cold Tumblr.
00:33:53.120 Today is the last day to join.
00:33:54.860 So again, that's promo code warrantiers for 20% off on your subscription.
00:33:59.760 Come join the fun.
00:34:01.860 Um, okay, let's go to.
00:34:07.040 Emails.
00:34:07.520 This is from Curtis says, I've got another food to be outlawed in your benevolent dictatorship.
00:34:14.060 Chili and cinnamon rolls have, have, uh, have chili and similar cinnamon rolls have nothing on this one.
00:34:20.240 My wife enjoys pizza dipped in applesauce.
00:34:27.080 Pizza dipped in applesauce.
00:34:29.380 She's trying to indoctrinate our children on this one.
00:34:32.280 What are your thoughts?
00:34:35.020 Curtis.
00:34:36.440 Listen, man.
00:34:37.520 I'm not telling you that you need to get a divorce.
00:34:43.060 I'm not saying that's for you to decide, but you need to get your children out of that house.
00:34:51.160 Get them out.
00:34:52.380 They cannot be exposed to this trauma and it is your duty to protect them from it.
00:34:57.900 This is from David.
00:35:00.060 Uh, thanks for the work you do.
00:35:01.040 I'm a big fan of the show apart from the potpourri currently living in Oxford, England.
00:35:06.440 I always enjoy listening to the show as I cycle to and from work.
00:35:11.260 I'm just going to move past that day, but I'll let that slide.
00:35:13.720 I'll let it slide.
00:35:14.440 That's this time.
00:35:15.180 Although I live in the, uh, in the UK, I am half American, a U S citizen and married to
00:35:21.460 a proud Oklahoman.
00:35:22.320 So I like to think that I can approach this topic from a somewhat neutral position.
00:35:26.560 The monarchy in Britain, far from being a drain on the taxpayers, a massive net contributor
00:35:30.580 to the British economy.
00:35:31.500 They live off 15% of the profits from their estates, pay tax.
00:35:36.620 Most importantly, they draw millions of people from all around the world and especially the
00:35:39.960 U S to visit the UK.
00:35:42.080 The queen who is almost universally respected is a unifying figure because she provides a
00:35:46.660 non-political head of state who is liked by most people to represent, uh, the country
00:35:51.160 contrasting with the U S system where 50% of the people hate the president at any given
00:35:54.700 time.
00:35:55.600 Lastly, the monarchy serves as a reminder of the history of the country, its Christian roots
00:35:59.220 and the long process by which representative democracy came to exist alongside a constitutional
00:36:03.840 monarchy, not to mention the struggle against Romish tyranny and treachery.
00:36:08.560 You're, I mean, you're, you're really trying to incite me right now.
00:36:12.140 I'm trying to stay focused on the monarchy topic here.
00:36:17.180 Um, though it is, it is interesting to me that you are defending the monarchy based on things
00:36:23.200 like tradition, preserving tradition.
00:36:25.320 And then, but then you're thrown in these anti-Catholic, anti-Pope things.
00:36:28.660 I, I, I actually see a conflict there, but anyway, well, I, uh, I am not saying by any
00:36:33.680 means that the UK system is perfect or better than the American one, but I thought I would
00:36:37.180 let you know some positive reasons to keep hold of this tradition.
00:36:39.620 I hope I will see you at a UK tour sometime in the future.
00:36:43.480 Um, yeah, I, I, I understand the arguments on the monarchy, not the anti-Catholic stuff.
00:36:52.140 Uh, I understand what you're saying.
00:36:55.020 And I, as I said yesterday, I think preserving tradition is a wonderful thing and I think we
00:36:59.280 should do it.
00:37:01.040 Um, and I think knowing your history is a wonderful thing, but that's also where things like museums
00:37:08.100 come into play.
00:37:09.480 So you could have a museum where people go and they learn their history and they learn
00:37:13.380 about their traditions.
00:37:14.420 That's all great.
00:37:16.860 My concern is, and this stemmed, as you recall, from talking about Prince Andrew, the playing
00:37:24.360 the BBC interview, he has been accused, credibly accused, I would say of raping a child.
00:37:31.520 He was a pal of Jeffrey Epstein, who was a well-known sex trafficker and pedophile convicted at the
00:37:38.640 time when Prince Andrew was known to have hung out with him and stayed at his house.
00:37:44.080 And he's basically impervious from maybe not, maybe he, maybe not technically legally, but
00:37:50.700 he's in effect impervious and he can get up there and make these, offer these excuses that
00:37:57.920 are really the worst alibis I've ever heard, where he actually says that he couldn't have
00:38:04.540 been the one who did it because he didn't sweat at the time, stuff like that.
00:38:10.200 So the way that this figurehead faux royalty offers a cover for criminals and alleged sex predators,
00:38:23.120 that to me is a big problem. And I don't know if it makes it, if the, if the tradition
00:38:29.960 and the Taurus, I don't know if that really compensates for that rather big legal and moral
00:38:36.540 downside. This is from Joe says, Joe here, big fan of the show. Since we're on the topic of
00:38:42.580 Kaepernick and his recent antics, I thought I'd weigh in and run past you. What I think is really
00:38:46.280 going on here. The NFL settled with cap for $50 million. How many employers do you know that are
00:38:51.780 eager to hire someone that just sued them? Every owner in the league knows that if they bring him
00:38:56.380 on, the consequences would far outweigh any benefit. They don't actually want him.
00:39:00.320 Kaep has over $150 million. Do you really think he wants to be a backup QB in the league?
00:39:04.560 He and Nike just want to control the narrative. He doesn't want to play. He doesn't want to debate.
00:39:08.400 He wants to play SJW without any resistance at all. It's basically political posturing on both sides.
00:39:13.360 Kaep needs to do something to remain relevant. He needs to earn his Nike dollars. Nike wants him to do
00:39:18.700 stuff like this. They signed him to a $100 million contract to be an SJW, not a football player.
00:39:23.760 He has to perform somehow. This is the perfect opportunity for him to do that. The NFL is willing
00:39:27.740 to take a stand for anything that hurts their ratings and is trying to play both sides of the
00:39:31.020 fence. So they're obviously going to show up and play along with Kaep and pretend they're woke,
00:39:35.240 but at the same time dedicated to vets, flags, flag, and country. Really, they still just haven't
00:39:40.480 figured out a way to handle the situation and have an ounce of integrity. The NFL paid Kaep 50 million
00:39:45.600 for him to go away. He's not going away. He's going to keep putting the pressure on them in
00:39:49.920 the future, and they'll continue to cower and fumble through awkward and neutral responses towards him.
00:39:54.920 Meanwhile, Kaepernick and Nike win as they keep their narrative alive and kicking in the global
00:39:58.880 spotlight stronger than ever. All they need is an occasional appearance from their SJW icon.
00:40:03.340 I agree 100% with everything you said, and I would again emphasize that we see an analogy here
00:40:14.820 between the NFL and their approach to this and the anthem and Kaepernick with trying to appease
00:40:20.440 and how that hasn't worked out for them, and they've lost money in the meantime, and it hasn't
00:40:26.980 satiated the critics at all. So you'll see an analogy between that and what Chick-fil-A has just
00:40:33.180 done. And I think they're going to suffer a very similar fate. Finally, this is from Carla. Hi,
00:40:38.720 Matt. I listen to your show every day as I pick up around the house. Your swedule comment made me
00:40:42.640 literally laugh out loud, which is a little odd when you're home alone. My question is, how would you
00:40:46.900 like me to respond to my kids, ages 26 and 20, when they make fun of me for quoting you on a regular
00:40:52.060 basis? As soon as I lead off with, I heard on the Matt Walsh show today, the ridicule starts. I figured
00:40:58.240 what better way to come back at them than a specific quote from you. You want a quote for your
00:41:06.200 traitorous children. Okay, I'll give you one. How about get out of my house and never come back?
00:41:14.540 You have disgraced the family name. You are disowned. Get out!
00:41:20.380 That's your quote. And I want you to say it exactly like that.
00:41:28.740 And then watch them leave your life forever. And I know they're your children, and I know that you
00:41:35.360 love them, or at least you did before this, but we got to draw lines. And honestly, it's not only that
00:41:45.700 that they don't listen to my podcast, but they make fun of you for quoting it. You know, we like
00:41:51.240 to talk about unconditional love, but let's be real. There are conditions, and this is one of them.
00:42:00.360 But thanks for listening anyway. I appreciate it. And thanks everybody for watching. I'll talk to
00:42:04.460 you tomorrow. Godspeed.
