00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Wall Show, many on the left have been nobly sermonizing about our civic duty to
00:00:05.400 pay taxes, but they have a very strange and inconsistent view on civic duties and obligations.
00:00:10.460 We'll talk about that today. Also, five headlines, including the media's continued attempts to smear
00:00:14.720 Amy Coney Barrett on the basis that she's a Bible-believing Christian. Imagine that. Plus,
00:00:19.180 the push to lower the voting age to 16. That's a terrible idea for so many reasons. It's difficult
00:00:23.800 to count them all, but we'll try. And in our daily cancellation, we will be canceling grown men who
00:00:29.500 use emojis. I have discovered that this is an issue of national interest and importance,
00:00:34.720 and we will talk about that today. All of that on the way. But first, let's talk about our latest
00:00:38.740 sponsor, Thinker. You know, it's important to read. I really believe that if you become the
00:00:42.940 sort of person who just binge watches TV and scrolls social media all day, you'll become
00:00:48.700 dumber. And I know that when I go through a phase where I'm not reading much and just watching a lot
00:00:53.580 of TV, I can feel myself getting dumber by the minute. And I don't have a lot of brain power
00:00:57.780 despair in the first place, as you know. So this is a crisis situation. But the problem is that
00:01:02.160 sometimes it can feel like we don't have, you know, the time to read and challenge our minds
00:01:06.080 in that way, even though we probably do have the time given all the TV we're watching. But even so,
00:01:10.500 whether your time constraints are real or imagined, Thinker solves the problem. At Thinker.org,
00:01:15.580 they summarize the key ideas from new and noteworthy nonfiction, giving you access to an entire library
00:01:20.900 of great books, but in bite-sized forms. You can read or listen to hundreds of titles in a matter
00:01:27.520 of minutes, from old classics to recent bestsellers, everything in between. They even have my book on
00:01:33.500 there. Thinker offers a large variety of titles across many categories, current affairs, politics,
00:01:38.820 business, education, history, relationships. I've been using Thinker for a long time, and it's great
00:01:43.900 to get the basic ideas from a nonfiction book, some food for the brain. And also, a lot of times,
00:01:49.600 I'll use it to see if a book is worth investing the time in. You know, I'll use it as kind of a
00:01:53.220 preview of a book before I buy the full thing. There are a ton of uses for Thinker. You've got
00:01:58.240 to check it out. If you want to challenge your preconceptions, expand your horizon, and become
00:02:03.180 a better Thinker, go to Thinker.org. That's T-H-I-N-K-R.org to start a free trial and download the app
00:02:11.660 today. Let them know you heard about them on the Matt Wall Show, by the way. That's Thinker.org.
00:02:17.520 All right. Well, we prepare ourselves today for the debate tonight between Joe Biden and Donald
00:02:24.980 Trump. It is, I would say, malpractice on the part of Biden's staff that they're letting him do this
00:02:29.880 in the first place. I was quite sure that the Biden camp would find a reason to pull out.
00:02:34.760 It looks like they're not going to. And it's not like they needed a good reason. You know,
00:02:39.680 the media has their back. They could just come up with any old excuse to not do the debate. But
00:02:44.400 and any excuse, I think, would be better than sending their dementia-riddled candidate
00:02:49.620 into a debate against an opponent who will not follow any predictable script. So it's just the
00:02:56.280 worst possible combination if you're Joe Biden's team. And yet, that's what's going to happen. Now,
00:03:02.600 we can expect, of course, that the issue of Trump's taxes will figure significantly into the discussion
00:03:08.300 tonight. It was designed that way. That's why the Times published it when it did. The media,
00:03:13.520 again, of course, is a propaganda wing of the Democrat Party and is always looking to help
00:03:17.420 their side any way they can. And that's what this whole tax thing is about. Now, as we prepare to
00:03:22.280 hear a lot about the taxes tonight, I have a couple of other points I want to make on this
00:03:26.500 manufactured controversy and the reaction to it, especially. I already argued yesterday that
00:03:32.600 Trump legally avoiding taxes, that is simply making sure that he doesn't pay more than is legally
00:03:38.400 required to pay, is not a scandal. Not even close to a scandal. It is, if anything, sort of the
00:03:44.020 opposite of a scandal for a man to ensure that the government gets not one dime more than it claims
00:03:49.780 to be owed. But I noticed two things in the reaction to this story. First, it's obvious that there are
00:03:56.780 many Americans who don't hate the IRS enough. Now, to the sane and well-adjusted, it seems almost
00:04:04.260 impossible to believe that such a group could exist. People not hating the IRS is like people
00:04:10.300 not hating the idea of being trampled to death by a rampaging moose. I mean, aren't we all proud
00:04:16.440 members of the anti-getting-our-brains-stomped-out-by-large-hooved-animals camp? But apparently,
00:04:23.180 we don't all value our brains or our money in the same way. In the discussion about the massive scandal
00:04:29.080 of Trump legally avoiding paying more taxes than he owes, many people have reacted with shock and
00:04:34.640 horror at those of us who are quite in favor of citizens paying as little as they can and not a
00:04:40.100 penny more. These people speak nobly of our civic duty to pay taxes, and they profess that they have
00:04:48.120 no resentment about chipping in their share. Paying taxes is fun, they come perilously close to saying.
00:04:54.120 This is perverse. You know, there are ads in the personal section on Craigslist that are less
00:04:59.280 pathetic and weird than this. I know we aren't supposed to kink shame, but if your kink is paying
00:05:03.860 taxes, well, you need to seek counseling. Yet, we know the real reason that so many in our country
00:05:10.880 don't experience the appropriate levels of rage when it comes to taxes, rage that should be all the more
00:05:16.980 fiery and righteous, given the fact that the government absorbs over $3 trillion a year in taxes and
00:05:22.620 wastes an enormous portion of it. The reason this doesn't induce the rage that it should is that
00:05:27.900 many of the people who seem basically okay with it actually don't pay income tax. At least they
00:05:33.380 don't actively pay it. The taxes come out of their paycheck automatically. Withheld is the term.
00:05:39.460 Quite painless and easy. And then come tax time, they actually get some of that money back or all of it
00:05:45.400 back. So for the average American, the only direct experience they have with the IRS
00:05:50.380 is when the IRS is giving, quote unquote, them money. Of course, it's their own money they're
00:05:56.120 being given back. Money that was taken, held, paid back without interest. But even so, psychologically,
00:06:02.300 emotionally, it feels like a belated Christmas bonus. This is all by design. This is why the
00:06:08.560 withholding system, I believe, is one of the most sinister and dastardly and brilliant schemes ever
00:06:13.100 devised by the government. Because it allows them to take, as I said, trillions and trillions of
00:06:17.540 dollars from the American people, squandering billions every year, squandering billions of
00:06:21.780 our money, money that you could use to buy your child a pair of shoes that he needs or save for
00:06:26.520 a new home or go on a much-needed vacation or anything else, but that the government takes
00:06:31.500 instead and essentially incinerates. But it can do this without causing an uproar or a revolution
00:06:37.940 or even any real heartburn in most people simply by helping itself to your paycheck first and then
00:06:44.380 giving you the leftovers. In fact, it can even turn tax time into a happy occasion by giving
00:06:50.140 some of the money at Pilford back to you. This is why if there's any real red pill moment in American
00:06:56.600 life, it's when you get into a line of work where not all or perhaps none of your taxes are withheld.
00:07:03.540 When you actually have to write physical checks to the government, when you feel the loss, when you
00:07:08.920 see it, and then come tax time, if you underestimated your taxes throughout the year, you have to pay
00:07:14.660 even more. This is the awakening. This is the realization. You begin to realize just how much
00:07:21.980 the government is actually taking and how little you are getting in return on your investment.
00:07:27.440 And you begin to make calculations and you say to yourself, man, if I didn't have to write this
00:07:30.800 check to the IRS right now, I could do this or that. I could buy this. I could save for that.
00:07:34.740 But it's real now. Taxes are real. And you start to understand your relationship to the government.
00:07:40.020 You understand what that relationship actually is. It is one where you give and give and give and give
00:07:46.040 and give and give. And then you give some more. It's very one-sided. And then every pothole you drive
00:07:53.560 over and every piece of pork added to a bill becomes a personal affront to you because you say,
00:07:59.820 what the hell am I paying for? Where is the return on my investment? What are you people
00:08:03.800 doing with my money? And that's exactly how you should feel. It's how our founders felt.
00:08:09.120 And it's why this country exists in the first place. But it's not how the government wants you
00:08:14.200 to feel. And they have successfully ensured that many of us don't. Second point, and this is related
00:08:21.080 to the first. My Daily Wire colleague, Emily Zanotti, made this observation. I wish I had thought of it
00:08:26.180 first, to be honest. And frankly, I'm a little offended that I wasn't given the opportunity to think of it
00:08:30.040 first. But at any rate, responding to a tweet from a guy who says, real patriots pay taxes.
00:08:36.760 Gross. Which is exactly the argument that King George made to the colonists, by the way. So we
00:08:40.700 know what side this guy is on. But Emily says, I suppose if you believe this, you should also believe
00:08:45.580 that real patriots should repay their student loans in full, since that's the money they owe the
00:08:50.300 government. But I suspect that's going to be a tough sell. This is a great point. Because the same
00:08:55.740 people who speak solemnly of our obligation to pay our taxes, our civic duty, our responsibility to
00:09:02.500 give what we owe, these very same people, almost all of them, would say that the college grads,
00:09:08.580 you know, have taken out loans, shouldn't have to repay those loans. As it has done with many other
00:09:13.820 words, the left has twisted the concept of obligation and distorted it until it's no longer
00:09:19.880 recognizable. In what sense is paying taxes an obligation? Well, it's a legal, in a legal sense.
00:09:27.420 You have to pay them, because if you don't, you'll go to jail. It's a pretty good reason to pay them.
00:09:31.580 It's why I pay them. I have no choice. I'm legally required. What about student loans, though? Well,
00:09:37.880 you are legally required to pay those back, too. So there is a legal obligation. But only in this case,
00:09:44.200 it has the extra moral weight of being an obligation that you personally accepted and
00:09:50.240 entered into, chose. Nobody chose the obligation of paying taxes. The government just tells you what
00:09:56.540 the taxes are, whether you like it or not. And if you don't pay it, they're going to take it by force.
00:10:02.040 They could throw you in jail. They could take your house, whatever they want. But with student loans,
00:10:07.120 you agree to the terms. You don't have to agree. You can say no. You can decline to take on the
00:10:12.160 obligation. Yet somehow for the left, this obligation that is willingly entered into somehow
00:10:18.500 has less moral weight than the obligation that is thrust upon you against your will at gunpoint.
00:10:26.140 So this is their idea of civic duty. And then we could add into that, by the way, that they don't
00:10:29.920 consider it much of an infringement or a denial of your civic duty if you go loot and riot and burn
00:10:36.360 down stores and steal stuff. That also is perfectly in keeping with your civic duty.
00:10:42.160 So these concepts and words have been all twisted to hell and back. And that, of course, is part of
00:10:47.800 the point. What they want is people to be confused about what their duties are, what their obligations
00:10:52.840 are, and what moral weight all of these things have. That is always the goal of the left, is to
00:11:00.420 confuse people. And we can tell that they have very much succeeded. Let's get to our five headlines.
00:11:05.960 You know, it's never a good feeling when that check engine light comes on, or maybe the car
00:11:15.720 starts, it starts, you get a little, you hear that weird sound, or there's a little bit of a weird
00:11:19.920 smell. You know, whenever that happens, you get that, I know for me, that feeling in the pit of
00:11:25.580 your stomach, and you just think, oh my gosh, what is this going to cost me? Well, that is how I used to
00:11:30.520 feel until I got CarShield. Now I don't have to worry about any of that anymore. CarShield offers
00:11:35.040 a wide range of protection plans that can save you thousands for a covered repair, which means that
00:11:39.940 check engine light comes on, you get that weird sound, whatever it is, it's a lot less scary when
00:11:45.860 that happens. You have the freedom to choose your favorite mechanic or dealership to do the work,
00:11:50.300 and CarShield gets the rest taken care of. Even if your car breaks down while you're traveling,
00:11:54.420 the choice of a repair shop is still up to you. On top of that, there's no long-term contracts,
00:11:59.020 commitments, payments are flexible, CarShield plans are customizable to meet your exact needs.
00:12:03.540 CarShield has over 1 million drivers, and there's a reason for that, because this is just,
00:12:08.600 it just works for you. In the end, it's a positive for you, and a lot of peace of mind comes with it
00:12:14.760 as well. That's why they're America's number one auto protection company, and that's why I keep
00:12:20.300 coming back to it. In the end, you save a lot of money, but also just not having to worry that the
00:12:25.240 engine light comes on, whatever it is, you don't have to have all that anxiety. I used to dread car
00:12:29.780 repairs, but with CarShield, I have peace of mind. Get coverage today and see why CarShield cars go
00:12:33.900 farther. Call 800-665-2157 and mention Code Walsh, or visit carshield.com and use Code Walsh to save
00:12:41.700 10%. That's carshield.com, Code Walsh. A deductible may apply. All right, well, the media is digging for an
00:12:48.780 Amy Coney Barrett scandal, and they just, they think they found one finally. Here's what they
00:12:54.000 came up with. This is from the AP. It says, President Donald Trump's nominee for the U.S.
00:12:58.500 Supreme Court has close ties to a charismatic Christian religious group that holds that men
00:13:02.760 are divinely ordained as the head of the family. Former members of the group called People of Praise
00:13:07.600 say it teaches that wives must submit to the will of their husbands. Federal appeals judge Amy Coney Barrett
00:13:15.280 has not commented publicly about her own or her family's involvement, and so on and so forth.
00:13:21.940 But Barrett, 48, grew up in New Orleans in a family deeply connected to the organization as
00:13:25.960 recently as 2017. She served as a trustee at the People of Praise-affiliated Trinity Schools
00:13:31.880 Incorporated. People of Praise is a religious community based in charismatic Catholicism, a
00:13:36.260 movement that grew out of the influence of Pentecostalism, which emphasizes a personal
00:13:41.600 relationship with Jesus. Barrett's affiliation with a conservative religious group that elevates
00:13:45.920 the role of men has drawn particular scrutiny given that she would be filling the high court
00:13:50.820 seat held by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a feminist icon. Barrett, by contrast, is being
00:13:56.880 hailed by religious conservatives as an ideological heir to the late Justice Scalia. Okay, well, so she
00:14:02.700 belongs to a group that says that wives should submit to their husbands. Horrifying, horrifying stuff.
00:14:08.920 But just so you know, the actual name of this kooky, fringe, far-right group is Christians Who
00:14:17.720 Believe in the Bible. Okay, that's the actual name. Because, well, all Christians who believe in the
00:14:23.240 Bible believe this, because it's in the Bible. This is where you see how the media, obviously, they hate
00:14:29.980 Christians, obviously, but they have difficulty smearing Christians effectively because they don't know
00:14:35.700 anything about Christianity. They're very biblically illiterate. I bet whoever wrote this AP article, for
00:14:42.240 example, didn't know that the Bible specifically says wives submit to your husbands, Ephesians 5 22. One of my
00:14:49.340 favorite verses, by the way, and one that I will often cite to my wife if we're, say, arguing over what movie to
00:14:56.580 watch on a Friday night. Then I got to pull out the Bible and say, it says it right here, St. Paul, what can I tell
00:15:03.700 you? Okay, it's not me. It's him. He's telling you. But the media doesn't know that. That's why they
00:15:09.080 don't, nowhere in the article is even mentioned that, oh, this is how they interpret the Bible
00:15:12.880 verse, or not that there's any other way to interpret it, because they just don't know that.
00:15:16.540 By the way, a devout Catholic, quote-unquote devout Catholic Joe Biden, what about him?
00:15:23.500 He also believes this, right? If he is a, if he really is a devout Catholic, which he isn't because
00:15:27.860 he's pro-abortion, you can't be devout Catholic and pro-abortion. But let's just pretend for a moment,
00:15:32.200 as the media wants us to pretend that he's devout Catholic. Well, in that case, then he believes
00:15:35.780 this too. And if we had a real news media, they would ask him about this. They would say, hey,
00:15:41.880 Joe, what do you feel about this? Ephesians 5.22. Do you think wives should submit to their husbands?
00:15:50.720 I would love to see the way that he wiggles himself out of that, but he's not going to be put
00:15:55.120 in that position because he's not going to be asked about it. Number two, Tucker Carlson
00:16:00.860 had this report last night. Take a listen.
00:16:04.440 More and more lawmakers are calling for a nationwide rule on wearing face coverings.
00:16:09.720 Senator Dianne Feinstein has written to federal agencies asking for a mandatory mask policy,
00:16:14.580 both in the air and on public transit.
00:16:17.840 Well, that was news footage from June, just this June, when California Senator Dianne Feinstein
00:16:23.620 wrote a letter to the FAA demanding everyone wear masks in airports.
00:16:27.720 Feinstein wrote that we need a mandatory mask policy for all airport and airline employees
00:16:33.960 and passengers, end quote. Feinstein claimed the agency had, quote,
00:16:38.380 sowed confusion among passengers about whether masks are necessary.
00:16:41.920 But they are necessary, says Dianne Feinstein.
00:16:44.160 Not wearing them is very dangerous, given the coronavirus.
00:16:47.040 Well, given that, today, this show exclusively obtained photographs of, and this is going
00:16:53.560 to rock your world, Dianne Feinstein in a private terminal at Dulles Airport, an FBO, as they
00:16:59.860 say, in private aviation, on Friday.
00:17:02.960 In the photographs, Feinstein came and seen smiling without a mask on.
00:17:07.420 One might even say she's sowing confusion about whether or not masks are necessary.
00:17:10.880 So there you go. You know what annoys me about these kinds of things, aside from the obvious,
00:17:15.440 is the reaction from the public, who treat, some of the public, who treat this sort of
00:17:20.040 thing as a cheap gotcha tactic, you know, criticizing Feinstein for not wearing a mask,
00:17:24.140 Pelosi for breaking the lockdown rules, Mayor Lightfoot, de Blasio, et cetera. So many have
00:17:29.040 done it. But the attitude from some citizens, namely ones with partisan bias in favor of the
00:17:34.680 party that keeps doing this, the reaction is to go, oh, come on, you know, it's not that big
00:17:39.080 of a deal, but it is a big deal. It's a very big deal. Because these people have brought
00:17:46.020 our country to a standstill, have decimated the economy, have torn the Constitution to
00:17:51.100 shreds, imposing all these rules and laws on the basis that they're doing it to save
00:17:55.180 lives, but their behavior reveals that they don't really believe their own reasoning. They
00:18:00.980 don't believe the reasons that they are giving for any of this, which raises an obvious
00:18:05.600 question. Why are they really doing it? If they don't believe it, then why are they doing it?
00:18:16.200 Once again, going back to the first point, if we had a real news media, this would be a question
00:18:19.980 that would be asked. Number three, Daily Wire reports transgender inmates in California will now
00:18:25.660 be housed according to their gender identity, thanks to a new law signed Saturday by Governor
00:18:31.360 Gavin Newsom. The law states that prison officers must privately ask inmates going through the intake
00:18:37.320 process if they identify as transgender, non-binary, or intersex. Okay, so every inmate who comes in
00:18:45.240 is going to have to be asked now, hey, are you non-binary? If the inmate indicates one of those
00:18:51.780 identities, they will be allowed to request a move to the facility that houses their preferred
00:18:56.960 gender. Oh my gosh. There is a caveat to the new law, however. If the state has management or
00:19:05.640 security concerns, it will provide a written explanation of why it denied an inmate the
00:19:09.640 chance to be housed according to his or her gender identity. This exception is not included because the
00:19:15.500 state believes men will claim to be women in order to harm female inmates, but because it believes male
00:19:19.220 inmates will attack biological women who identify as men. Okay, well, I mean, what could possibly go wrong
00:19:25.700 here? So now, according to this, it sounds like, they're going to ask each inmate. So, you know,
00:19:34.440 what could go wrong when you go up to an inmate and say, hey, by the way, you go up to a male inmate,
00:19:39.620 biologically male. Hey, are you actually a woman? Because if you are, you can go over to the woman's prison.
00:19:46.920 Just let us know. Hey, honor system. Oh, but that will never be exploited, right?
00:19:53.580 You see again how this just, how the, for all of the talk we hear about on the left and Democrats,
00:20:07.900 and they care so much about women's rights and protecting women, they don't give a damn. They,
00:20:12.800 they, they don't give the slightest damn. At least when, when women's rights, their actual rights,
00:20:18.220 okay, are, are put up against the LGBT agenda, you know, because there is this hierarchy,
00:20:25.020 this intersectional hierarchy, this victimhood hierarchy that we've talked about. And women are
00:20:30.260 really pretty low on, on the, on the hierarchy scale. LGBT, they're above them. So their concerns
00:20:37.980 and their desires come first. So we're going to throw their safety out the window, their privacy out
00:20:44.740 the window. And, uh, if, uh, you know, you got a bunch of male prisoners that say, oh yeah, sure.
00:20:49.400 I I'm, I'm, I'm a, I'm a female. Yeah. In fact, I, I woke up yesterday and realized I was a female,
00:20:54.740 as it turns out. So yeah, go ahead and send me over to the women's prison.
00:20:59.680 Number four, NPR reports. Um, young adults are known for taking to the streets and protests. Now
00:21:07.000 there's a youth driven push to bring more of them to the ballot box. Tyler Okiki, a 19 year old
00:21:12.560 activist is among those who champion lowering the voting age from 18 to 16. Okiki is working
00:21:17.680 to increase the number of eligible voters in the country's most diverse generation and amplify
00:21:22.280 their voices on decisions that will affect their future. Uh, and then it goes on from there talking
00:21:26.660 about his, his efforts to lower the voting age to 16. There's of course, absolutely no good reason
00:21:32.960 to even consider lowering the voting age to 16 or lowering it at all to any age. If anything,
00:21:37.840 we should be raising it. The only reason why it's being considered is that it would help Democrats,
00:21:42.160 which is not a good reason unless you are a Democrat. And then I'm good. I can see why
00:21:45.120 you'd be in favor of it. Um, but in reality, objectively our Republic cannot at all be helped
00:21:51.840 by this. The last thing we need are more people who are ignorant and non-contributing filing into the
00:22:00.320 voting booth. That's, that's the last thing we do. We don't need more of them. If you're 16 years old
00:22:06.000 and I say this and anyone who's over the age of 16, you know, this too, because you have had the
00:22:13.200 experience of being 16. Would you say at 16 that you were really in touch? Like you understood what
00:22:20.480 was happening in the country. You had a, you had a really solid perspective. Um, and you were real
00:22:26.560 contributing member of society. You were emotionally and mentally mature. Would you say that about yourself
00:22:32.120 at the age of 16? Because, because if you would, then all that tells me is that you haven't grown
00:22:36.920 at all from the age of 16, which means that you probably shouldn't be able to vote now, whatever
00:22:41.160 age you are. But anyone who's done any growing, any maturing, which maybe is a dwindling minority,
00:22:47.080 uh, we can look back at ourselves at 16 and say, no, don't give, you didn't give that person the right to
00:22:51.880 vote. Are you crazy? Now raise the voting age to 25, raise it to 35. Well, I'm not 35 yet, so don't do that.
00:23:03.080 Just raise it, raise it, raise it to right where I'm at. And then, uh, and then at, as I, as I get
00:23:08.100 older, we can keep raising it along with me. That's the way the law should work. Number five,
00:23:13.360 important report from the Daily Mirror. Um, a group of parrots at a zoo had to be put back into
00:23:18.800 isolation when they all started swearing at customers after coming out of quarantine.
00:23:23.320 The five African gray parrots were adopted by Lincolnshire Wildlife Park on August 15th and put
00:23:28.740 into a room together, but it appears they used their time in isolation teaching each other foul
00:23:32.680 language, which left park staff in hysterics, but swift action had to be taken when they started
00:23:37.380 using obscenities with guests. Steve Nichols, CEO at the Frisney Park, said the birds were put in a
00:23:43.520 timeout, but admitted over the last 25 years, he's taken in many parrots that have sometimes had a bit
00:23:49.060 of blue language. Uh, he told Lincolnshire Live every now and then you'll get one that swears and it's always
00:23:54.580 funny. We always find it very comical when they do swear at you. Uh, but then he continues that
00:23:59.080 the problem is that now they're, they're, they are, um, swearing at guests and there's a concern
00:24:04.220 that especially with children coming back to the zoo, they're going to start swearing at the kids,
00:24:07.640 be very traumatizing to get cussed out by a parrot. And so now they're isolating the parrots and
00:24:12.340 they're actually going to break them up and put the parrots with more responsible, each, each of the
00:24:17.500 five bad parents, delinquent parents, pet parrots will go with what, with one of the responsible
00:24:22.180 parrots. And then hopefully there'll be some, you know, they'll speaking of maturing, they'll learn
00:24:26.760 to mature that way. Uh, very disturbing report all around and a pretty serious infringement on free
00:24:33.280 speech. I don't remember anything in the constitution saying that you can't swear at guests at a zoo.
00:24:41.140 I don't seem to recall that in there. Of course, this is a British zoo and these are parrots,
00:24:47.000 but I don't see how that has any relevance to the legal case I'm making here.
00:24:52.180 Um, and besides you can't blame them for swearing. Um, I'd be a little salty too, if I was locked in a zoo
00:24:57.100 and if I was a parrot, frankly, as well. All right, we're going to get to our daily cancellation
00:25:02.700 in just a second. It's a very important one. I know I always say that, but this one, this one,
00:25:07.100 you can't miss. This is, this is a daily cancellation that's more important than I originally
00:25:11.800 thought it was. We're going to talk about that in a second, but this is important as well. Um,
00:25:16.600 new sponsor on the show, my pillow. Look, uh, we all know the value of a good, good night's rest.
00:25:23.420 In fact, you, you learn the value of a good, good night's rest when you don't get one. If you,
00:25:28.120 if you struggle to get, uh, to sleep well at night, as I have struggled in the past,
00:25:33.240 then that's when you really realize what you're missing. Um, and that's where my pillow can really
00:25:38.660 help. Uh, and ever since I started using my pillow, I've been sleeping a lot better. Uh,
00:25:42.660 Mike Lindell is the inventor of my pillow. Mike's latest deal is on his Giza dream sheets,
00:25:47.580 which are made from the world's best cotton Giza. They're ultra soft. They're breathable,
00:25:51.900 very durable. Um, right now the Giza dream sheets are at a two for one low price plus free shipping
00:25:58.000 with promo code daily wire. All of the my pillow products come with a 60 day money back guarantee.
00:26:03.300 Uh, and, uh, you know, I, I can say with my, with, with, especially with the, with the pillow,
00:26:09.220 you know, there, there is a little bit of a, of a struggle, a little bit of a fight with my wife.
00:26:13.300 Cause she's always trying to steal the pillow. But, um, what I like about it is that it's very
00:26:17.700 soft, but it's also, it's kind of this combination of soft and firm. It's exactly what you're looking
00:26:21.620 for in a pillow. So it doesn't, it doesn't feel like you're laying your head on a bag of feathers
00:26:27.300 cause that's not what you want either, but it's also not like you're laying on cardboard. And I think
00:26:31.340 most pillows that you get at the store are kind of, they go to one extreme or the other, not my pillow.
00:26:36.180 I've been sleeping a lot better ever since I started using it. So just go to my pillow.com
00:26:39.900 click on the radio listeners square to check out the two for one low price on the Giza dream sheets

00:28:09.020 membership with code debate when you sign up today. All right, let's get to the daily cancellation.
00:28:14.540 So today our daily cancellation deals with one of the crucial issues facing our country and indeed
00:28:20.120 all of Western civilization. And that would be emojis, specifically male induced emojis or M I E as
00:28:27.240 they are called in the medical field. Last night, I was actually trending. I was trending nationwide on
00:28:31.560 Twitter and you can see the photographic evidence right here, trending nationwide and also hundreds
00:28:37.620 and hundreds of infuriated private messages because of something I said about emojis. Now you might say
00:28:42.240 that this is a reflection of the fact that we live in the dumbest, most frivolous and utterly decadent
00:28:47.500 culture in world history, where even in the midst of crisis, a guy's tweet about emojis manages to
00:28:52.780 grab hold of the country's attention. But I prefer to think that I was trending because I'm just a
00:28:57.740 really important and brilliant guy. Tomato, tomato. You can interpret it however you like.
00:29:03.580 Whatever the reason, here was the tweet that brought the world to a halt.
00:29:08.560 I said, every day I see more grown adult men using emojis. There is no excuse for this. Emojis are for
00:29:14.580 children and women. Do you think your great grandfather would have been caught dead using emojis if the
00:29:19.680 internet existed back then? Have some self-respect for God's sake. Lest you doubt that I am kind and
00:29:27.720 merciful, I did make this allowance. I said, gifts are okay though. Memes are a case-by-case basis.
00:29:32.980 Okay? Now, so those are the rules. Now, before I elaborate here, let's go through some of the
00:29:37.620 responses to this tweet about emojis. As I said, many, many very angry people. Let's take a look at
00:29:43.920 a few. John Pavlovitz says, well, I hear my great-grandfather wasn't big on insecure dude-bro
00:29:50.120 misogynists, so he'd laugh at Matt Walsh for his transparent overcompensation and point out that
00:29:55.560 his Christianity is short one Jesus. And then he called Matt a fragile, tiny clown.
00:30:01.160 Tom Thoin chimes in, Alexa, show me what the most pathetic, toxic masculinity looks like.
00:30:07.860 Gibson Johns, with a totally normal and sane response to a tweet about emojis, which has
00:30:12.360 since been deleted, but it said, masculinity is a disease. Again, that was a response to what I said
00:30:19.080 about emojis. James Fell, once again, very healthy, very normal. He says, I've never used emojis. As a
00:30:25.540 professional writer, I don't like them, but instead prefer to challenge my vocabulary. That being said,
00:30:29.840 this sanctimonious sack of otter snot. What a brainless, festering knuckle. Eat excrement and
00:30:36.560 expire early, Matt. Okay, telling me to die because of what I said about emojis. Nothing overblown about
00:30:42.320 that. Then Alan Zilberman comments with a bunch of poop emojis. David Lauer is one of many to leave
00:30:49.360 the middle finger emoji. Kayla says, children and women, ugh, some sexism and toxic masculinity all rolled
00:30:55.840 up into one. Seth Abramson is in on the action. He comments that this comment is stupid beyond belief
00:31:03.840 as well as misogynistic, goes without saying to anyone who reads my feed. But as a separate point,
00:31:08.600 every comment I've ever received from a male Trumpist had an emoji in it, which makes Trumpist
00:31:13.640 Matt Walsh saying this truly mind-blowing. Yes, I'm a Trumpist now. Sure. Okay. Jake Wilson,
00:31:20.400 with the middle finger emoji, says, you managed to be homophobic and misogynistic in one joke.
00:31:26.760 So it's homophobic to make fun of emojis now. Apparently emojis are an integral part of gay
00:31:32.520 culture. According to Jake Wilson, anyway, you learn something new every day. And then a lot of
00:31:36.960 this kind of thing in the private messages, as you can see, telling me to eat excrement,
00:31:40.860 calling me a bigot, bigoted against emojis. The pro emoji guys seem to have a real thing about
00:31:46.600 eating excrement. I don't know. I guess we can, we can dig into the psychology behind that some
00:31:50.200 other time. And then Mike Williams says, men are so fragile on this site. And the crazy thing is,
00:31:56.500 he's apparently talking about me and not talking about all the grown men hysterically crying because
00:32:02.220 I made fun of their little pictures. Now I have a few things to say here. Okay. First I start with,
00:32:08.040 and I don't often do this, as you know, but I start with an apology. After reading all of these
00:32:14.900 responses and really getting a sense for how people are feeling, feeling about it, how it affected
00:32:20.080 them. I'd like to apologize that I said emojis are for women and children. I should have mentioned
00:32:26.860 that they're also for illiterates. So I apologize for that oversight. Second point, to the people who
00:32:33.040 are angry that I lumped women and children together, all I have to say is this. If you're a woman and you
00:32:38.020 want to be lumped in with children when the ship is sinking, giving you that VIP pass to the front of
00:32:43.140 the lifeboat line, then you have to put up with being lumped together in these sorts of insulting
00:32:47.280 generalizations. That's the price of admission. I think it's a pretty good deal, I have to say. I'd take it
00:32:53.100 if the ship was sinking and someone said, okay, you can get off with the children, but that means we get to
00:32:56.780 make fun of you later. Fine. Third point. The real reason, though, that I will allow emojis for children is
00:33:03.520 that we cannot expect more sophisticated communication from them. You know, if you're at the age where you
00:33:08.280 still read books with pictures, then it's okay to type with pictures too. I allow them for women
00:33:13.820 because along with the fact that they don't have to drown on the Titanic, they also are more
00:33:17.840 aesthetically inclined. They like to make things look pretty and pleasing to the eye. Women are also
00:33:23.180 more exuberant and emotional. Emojis are useful to this end, though only within reason. I will not
00:33:29.640 allow them for men because men don't have any of these excuses. As men, we communicate our meaning
00:33:35.560 plainly and without the frills. You shouldn't need the assistance of smiley faces. You should
00:33:41.040 be able to convey your message by using words in the form of complete sentences. You know, I think
00:33:46.700 of emojis much the same way I think of ketchup. Ketchup, which is also, by the way, only for women
00:33:51.280 and children. If you feel like you need ketchup for your french fries, that only tells me that your
00:33:58.820 french fries are not well seasoned. If you feel like you need emojis for your sentences, that only tells me
00:34:04.660 that your sentences are not well seasoned. That is, you have not done a sufficient job of expressing
00:34:08.820 yourself through the use of actual language. You have not the vocabulary to season your written
00:34:14.740 expressions with language that creatively conveys your meaning. I think what we're witnessing in
00:34:20.820 modern times is the collapse of language. The collapse. That's why people say, you know, they need the
00:34:27.640 emoji so that others will know their tone and their meaning when they text or email or post something on
00:34:32.500 social media. They don't have the ability to get their point across in an effective way, so they
00:34:36.800 need little signs, little drawings that essentially say, me happy, me like. That's what every smiley
00:34:42.740 face emoji says, by the way. To translate it into language, it would be, me happy, or me sad, or me
00:34:49.200 laughing, you funny. Emojis are quite literally the language of the caveman. In fact, many of the responses
00:34:56.120 to my point cited, in defense of emojis, cave paintings. Responses like this, with a photo of
00:35:02.380 some cave paintings, which is supposed to prove that emojis are an acceptable form of communication
00:35:06.500 for modern, civilized man. But this is like trying to dispel the idea that pop music is degenerate by
00:35:12.040 arguing that they play it in strip clubs. Your argument against my point actually illustrates my
00:35:17.540 point precisely. Yes, prehistoric man, before the invention of sophisticated written language, did use a
00:35:23.360 form of emoji when they were scrawling messages on the wall of a cave. But we should no more seek to
00:35:28.400 emulate the caveman's communication style than his medical practices or his hygiene routine.
00:35:34.500 We have graduated beyond those crude forms. A return to them is not a good sign. In this case,
00:35:40.440 with writing and language, it's a sign that people are losing their ability to convey meaning through
00:35:45.100 the written word. That is not a positive development. And so, emojis are canceled. All men who use them
00:35:56.200 are canceled. Everyone who jumped on the Twitter dog pile is canceled. Or to express this in a way
00:36:03.260 you'll understand, you bad. You stupid. You not write good. You canceled. I hope that clarifies things.
00:36:12.460 Tune in tomorrow because I'll have another 10-minute explanation as to why men also are not allowed
00:36:19.120 to use exclamation points. I could do a whole series on punctuation as well. We'll get to that
00:36:23.880 later. But I think that's quite enough for today. Have a great day, everyone. Godspeed.
