The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 631 - How We Got Here

00:00:00.000 Today on the Matt Walsh Show, chaos in D.C. yesterday as a group of Trump supporters

00:00:04.220 stormed the Capitol building. I want to talk about what led up to those events. The media

00:00:08.800 and the left for months were openly justifying and encouraging riots and political violence.

00:00:13.880 Today, they say that none of that had anything to do with the riot in D.C. But I think there's

00:00:18.120 a very obvious connection, which we'll discuss today. Also, five headlines, including more on

00:00:22.700 the mother and military veteran who was shot and killed by Capitol Police during the riot.

00:00:26.100 And President Trump is suspended from Twitter, plus our daily cancellation and much more

00:00:31.160 today on the Matt Walsh Show.

00:00:39.540 You know, it's really impossible to overemphasize the importance of protecting your online data.

00:00:45.160 If you're going to be online, as we all are, you have to realize that your data is susceptible

00:00:50.820 to being stolen and your identity is susceptible to being stolen. And that's why you have to

00:00:53.900 protect yourself. And that's where LifeLock comes in. You know, sensitive personal medical

00:00:56.880 data could be exposed. As a recent analysis suggests, an increase in cybersecurity attacks

00:01:01.160 on pharmaceutical workers. The increase in remote work from home has coincided with the

00:01:05.320 targeting of smartphones and tablets of people working in pharmaceuticals with phishing and

00:01:08.660 malware attacks. That's why it's just important to understand how cybercrime and identity theft

00:01:12.880 are affecting our lives. Every day we put our information at risk on the internet.

00:01:17.380 And cybercriminals around the world, they keep finding new ways to steal your information.

00:01:21.160 Always innovating new ways to cause you a lot of trouble, basically. And that's why

00:01:28.520 you need LifeLock. LifeLock detects a wide range of identity threats, like your social security

00:01:32.620 number being for sale on the dark web. And if they find out that something like that is

00:01:36.700 happening, they're going to immediately send you an alert. And God forbid, if you do have

00:01:41.160 a problem, they've also got specialists on the staff who can help you restore your identity

00:01:47.060 and get things back to where they need to be. Nobody can prevent all identity theft or monitor

00:01:51.580 all transactions at all businesses, but LifeLock can see threats that you might miss on your own.

00:02:01.660 slash Walsh for 25% off. It is being demanded that we view yesterday's events in D.C. as if they

00:02:08.660 occurred without precedent. Nothing of importance or relevance preceding them. Right-wing Trump supporters

00:02:14.380 stormed the Capitol building, vandalized, fought with police, rained down anarchy. And there was

00:02:19.280 no catalyst for any of it, no underlying reason other than Donald Trump and his incitements.

00:02:24.300 This is how we're meant to see it. But I think it's important that we learn from our experiences

00:02:29.740 in this country, especially when those experiences are horrendous and disgraceful, as they were in this

00:02:33.840 case. And learning means understanding, which often means stepping back and taking a wider view.

00:02:40.640 We don't need to widen the lens very much to see that the rioting and violence on Capitol Hill

00:02:45.660 this week happened to occur after many months of violent riots across the nation. Violent riots which

00:02:50.520 were defended, even romanticized, by many prominent voices in the media and government.

00:02:56.780 Now, I'll be accused of whataboutism for refusing to pretend that this particular bit of chaos erupted in

00:03:03.660 a void, in a vacuum, utterly disconnected from all that came before it. But that's not true.

00:03:10.040 The simple fact is that left-wing radicals spent the entire summer and much of the fall wreaking

00:03:15.360 havoc in our cities and leaving burned out buildings, looted stores, dead bodies in their wake. 1.00

00:03:21.820 They did this in D.C. as well, multiple times, in fact, over the summer. And the aerial shots of the

00:03:26.660 city after their protests looked like something out of Baghdad in 2003. Go look for yourself.

00:03:33.500 Now, it's being argued that the BLM riots were a different sort of thing because, for one,

00:03:39.880 the rioters were not fueled by conspiracy theories, but by valid concerns over police brutality.

00:03:46.500 Also, as the argument goes, they were targeting private businesses and not government buildings.

00:03:51.180 So it's a completely different thing and not nearly as bad.

00:03:54.600 Both of these arguments are, of course, completely wrong on every level.

00:04:00.860 Now, I'm not convinced that any rioters, whether the ones this summer or the ones in the Capitol yesterday,

00:04:05.460 are actually motivated by anything other than a savage desire to destroy purely for the thrill of destruction.

00:04:11.840 That's why I oppose rioting in all its forms all the time.

00:04:15.220 It's illegal and destructive, number one, but also it's fundamentally nihilistic.

00:04:18.960 And I oppose nihilism.

00:04:21.140 But to whatever extent the BLM and Antifa mobs were animated by outrage over police shootings,

00:04:26.720 they were in almost every case wildly wrong about the facts surrounding those police shootings.

00:04:34.420 Indeed, they'd been whipped into a frenzy by falsehoods and conspiracy theories

00:04:38.340 just as outrageous as anything you may hear in the QAnon fever swamps.

00:04:42.940 Many of the police shootings that have provoked rioting over the past several months and years

00:04:46.880 were based on, you know, based on all available evidence, were completely justified.

00:04:52.180 That's just a fact.

00:04:53.480 We talked about Jacob Blake yesterday.

00:04:55.520 One example.

00:04:56.700 In fact, this all began, or at least BLM rose to prominence on the back of the Michael Brown shooting.

00:05:02.260 Hands up, don't shoot.

00:05:03.580 Completely false.

00:05:04.860 Debunked.

00:05:05.960 The movement was born in that falsehood.

00:05:09.120 So it's not as though BLM and Antifa have truth on their side.

00:05:12.220 Far from it.

00:05:13.280 What about their chosen targets?

00:05:14.840 Again, it's not true that they victimized only private businesses.

00:05:18.160 Rioters infiltrated and torched police stations in Minneapolis and Portland.

00:05:23.300 And we hear about yesterday was a dark day.

00:05:25.800 It was unprecedented.

00:05:28.180 I agree, but I think it's also pretty unprecedented.

00:05:30.700 And I felt pretty shocked, I don't know about you,

00:05:33.200 when I saw people infiltrating police stations and burning them to the ground in the middle of American cities.

00:05:39.440 You want to talk about living in a third world country?

00:05:41.740 The federal courthouse in Portland was under sustained violent attack for weeks.

00:05:47.620 Add in all the police cars that were incinerated or demolished by the mob.

00:05:50.960 And the claim that yesterday was unprecedented because it was an attack on government property reveals itself to be entirely absurd.

00:05:57.400 But is it really worse to attack government property anyway?

00:06:03.680 I'm not sure I agree with that position.

00:06:07.000 It's surely reprehensible to swarm the Capitol and put our elected officials in danger.

00:06:11.580 But is it better to loot and burn a CVS or a Target and put the workers at those establishments in danger?

00:06:17.680 Was it better when David Dorn was murdered for trying to defend his friend's pawn shop from looters?

00:06:22.260 Is it?

00:06:25.320 Is it really better to burn down a convenience store because you're mad that a violent felon was shot by the cops?

00:06:32.600 Is that better than swarming the Capitol?

00:06:36.000 Can we not agree that all of these acts are barbaric and untenable in a civilized society?

00:06:40.700 Apparently, we can't agree on that point.

00:06:43.420 And that's exactly the problem.

00:06:45.400 Though we're supposed to erase all of this from our mind now and pretend it never happened,

00:06:49.260 the truth, again, is that the media and the Democrat Party spent much of the previous year offering full-throated defenses of rioting and looting and political terrorism.

00:06:57.640 The very same people who are now shaking their heads and muttering tearfully about how the mob violence in D.C. yesterday was a dark and unprecedented moment in American history

00:07:06.520 were, not but a few weeks ago, openly defending and encouraging mob violence.

00:07:12.860 Recall Chris Cuomo back in June.

00:07:15.780 We'll play this clip for you just to jog your memory.

00:07:18.160 Laughing at the very idea that protests should be peaceful.

00:07:22.040 Listen.

00:07:22.640 Too many see the protests as the problem.

00:07:25.480 No, the problem is what forced your fellow citizens to take to the streets.

00:07:31.380 Persistent and poisonous inequities and injustice.

00:07:35.320 And please, show me where it says that protests are supposed to be polite and peaceful.

00:07:41.340 Well, and as many people pointed out to Chris Cuomo at the time, it says that actually in the First Amendment.

00:07:47.080 But there was that.

00:07:49.320 Many things like it.

00:07:50.060 Remember, and also remember celebrities like Trevor Noah reclining thoughtfully in their mansions and pontificating about how sometimes protests have to involve violence and arson.

00:08:01.320 It's necessary.

00:08:02.520 Here he is.

00:08:03.600 When you are a have and when you are a have-not, you see the world in very different ways.

00:08:08.680 And a lot of the time people say to the have-nots, this is not the right way to handle things.

00:08:15.640 When Colin Kaepernick kneels, they said this is not the right way to protest.

00:08:21.000 When Martin Luther King had children as part of his protests in Birmingham, Alabama, people said having children as your protest is not the right way to do things.

00:08:32.000 When he marched in Selma, people said this is not the right way to do things.

00:08:38.440 When people marched through the streets in South Africa during apartheid, they said this is not the right way to do things.

00:08:42.620 When people burn things, they say it's not the right way.

00:08:44.260 It's never the right way because there's never, there is never a right way to protest.

00:08:47.500 And I've said this before.

00:08:48.340 There is no right way to protest because that's what protest is.

00:08:51.700 It cannot be right because you are protesting against a thing that is stopping you.

00:08:57.500 That's what protest is.

00:08:58.720 And then many BLM leaders, like the president of the Greater New York Black Lives Matter, in this interview with Tommy Lahren, declaring that rioting is the language of the unheard and that it is a tool of white supremacy to insist on peaceful protests.

00:09:11.960 Listen to this.

00:09:13.020 But you don't say anything against them, though.

00:09:15.240 But how?

00:09:15.620 You don't say that's too far.

00:09:16.540 You know what?

00:09:16.860 Because a riot is the language of the unheard, right?

00:09:20.720 And for a country that drops bombs on people, for a country that incarcerates people, for a country that enslaves people, to criticize us, right, for vandalism, it's preposterous.

00:09:38.100 I want to make sure I'm getting you clearly.

00:09:40.180 It is okay to vandalize, to light things on fire, and to loot businesses because the United States of America drops bombs on other countries and because we have problems here and we have grievances, people have grievances.

00:09:53.500 It is okay to act in that manner.

00:09:54.980 And you co-sign onto that as the chairman of Black Lives Matter.

00:09:58.200 You were saying that that is okay.

00:09:59.800 Let me explain something to you.

00:10:00.740 I think that it is a tool of white supremacy to say, if you want what you get, if you want freedom, then you get it by protesting peacefully.

00:10:14.260 Why is it a tool of white supremacy?

00:10:16.380 Because the white supremacists who built this country never earned anything peacefully. 0.88

00:10:21.920 They did it through bullets and blood. 0.98

00:10:25.100 Bullets and blood.

00:10:26.180 You remember anyone on the left, anyone in the media, anyone among any Democrats at all?

00:10:31.040 Condemning that when he said it?

00:10:33.540 Do you recall that?

00:10:34.740 Because I don't.

00:10:36.780 Far from it.

00:10:37.560 In fact, Democratic leaders like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez insisted that to call for peace is to call for injustice to continue.

00:10:44.800 Listen.

00:10:45.260 If you're trying to call for the end of unrest, but you don't believe health care is a human right, if you're afraid to say Black Lives Matter, if you don't, if you're too scared to call out police brutality,

00:10:58.580 then you aren't asking for an end of unrest.

00:11:02.160 You are asking for injustice to continue.

00:11:05.800 And she wasn't the only member of the squad openly saying there should be unrest in the streets.

00:11:10.980 Ayanna Pressley said the same.

00:11:12.120 They know what unrest in the streets is and what it looks like.

00:11:15.700 It looks like burning buildings and dead bodies.

00:11:18.120 They know that.

00:11:19.520 And they called for it directly.

00:11:22.720 See, there's a consequence to these words.

00:11:25.060 There's a consequence to the decision by powerful and influential people to put on their pom-poms and act as cheerleaders for violent, murderous mobs.

00:11:32.260 The consequence is exactly the result they desired, which is the normalization of rioting and the mainstreaming of political violence.

00:11:39.520 That was their endgame.

00:11:41.020 And now it's here.

00:11:42.440 And now they want to wash the blood from their hands and preach about the need for civility.

00:11:47.760 And those of us who object to this charade and call it what it is are accused of whataboutism.

00:11:55.040 I'm not interested in justifying anything that happened at the Capitol on Wednesday.

00:12:02.920 I'm even less interested in allowing the cretins who set the stage for it by encouraging that sort of behavior for months on end to now pretend they bear no blame. 1.00

00:12:13.900 This is not just a matter of accountability, though it is that as well. 0.56

00:12:17.180 It's a matter of understanding what's happening in this country in its full context and why it's happening.

00:12:25.780 Because if there's any chance of changing it now, of pulling ourselves back from the brink, we have to start by understanding where we are and how we got here.

00:12:37.760 And that's how.

00:12:40.260 Now let's get to our five headlines.

00:12:41.660 Well, staying on the events in the Capitol, one narrative we're hearing from the left is that the cops went much easier on protesters yesterday than they have on BLM and Antifa.

00:12:57.060 And they went easier, you know, for because they're racist.

00:13:00.700 Right. Here's Joy Reid on MSNBC making that case and claiming outright that the rioters yesterday were treated with kid gloves because they're white. 0.62

00:13:10.560 That's what she had to say. Listen, it looked like a war zone. 0.99

00:13:14.340 Police brought in tanks.

00:13:16.660 They brought in body armor.

00:13:18.820 They were wearing full body armor, rubber suits where they almost looked robotic.

00:13:23.300 Full gear, enormous, powerful weaponry.

00:13:27.320 And they were phalanxed out all across Baltimore, Penn and North. 1.00

00:13:32.740 They were standing menacingly waiting to brutalize anyone who even looked at them funny.

00:13:39.720 The level of force, the level of just almost indiscriminate, rudeness, cruelty, hardness of those police officers.

00:13:51.440 And at curfew time, which would be nine o'clock and then almost every night during that uprising, at some point I would go on with you, Rachel, and describe to you what I was seeing.

00:14:02.040 And it was terrifying.

00:14:03.540 And what terrified me in those moments in Baltimore were not the marchers.

00:14:08.460 I was never afraid among the marchers.

00:14:10.480 The marchers just wanted justice.

00:14:12.740 They just didn't think it was okay to just kill a guy because he looked at the police funny.

00:14:17.920 I wasn't afraid of them.

00:14:19.820 I was afraid of the cops because they were menacing.

00:14:23.600 They knew those marchers were coming every night.

00:14:25.780 They knew there was going to be a curfew every night.

00:14:27.520 The great Elijah Cummings would walk people home and get them to go home because he didn't want them out after curfew.

00:14:33.440 But there would always be some guys who would stay out after the curfew, who would refuse to go home, who would claim the right to be in their streets.

00:14:40.080 And I was never afraid of them.

00:14:41.740 I was afraid of the cops.

00:14:43.480 White Americans are never afraid of the cops, even when they're committing insurrection. 0.97

00:14:47.580 Yeah, and we've heard a lot of this kind of thing that, well, they went easy on these protesters, rioters, because they're white.

00:14:59.240 And, you know, look at with BLM, they came down so hard. 0.77

00:15:02.060 This is just total, absolute nonsense that we're expected to accept.

00:15:08.140 We're expected to just accept it and pretend that we haven't witnessed what we've witnessed over the last six months.

00:15:13.860 It's not even though there's two years of separation and they want us to pretend that we didn't, we don't remember what happened two years ago, even though there were BLM riots happening two years ago, too.

00:15:22.260 We're talking about what just happened in this country, what we all spent all summer watching.

00:15:28.080 And now they want to pretend like none of it ever happened or just rewrite the history of it in front of our eyes.

00:15:35.860 That is nonsense.

00:15:37.660 As soon as BLM shows up, the cops come down hard on them. 0.99

00:15:40.760 Are you kidding me? 1.00

00:15:42.260 You idiot. 1.00

00:15:43.380 You liar. 1.00

00:15:45.820 The cops stood back and let BLM riot for weeks. 0.97

00:15:52.080 Look what happened in Kenosha.

00:15:54.200 Days on end.

00:15:56.220 They were allowed to do it.

00:15:57.420 We saw the videos of people just strolling into targets and CVSs and taking whatever they want and walking out.

00:16:08.160 We all saw that in cities across the country for weeks. 0.99

00:16:13.340 You lying snake. 0.99

00:16:16.700 We all saw it. 0.99

00:16:18.800 So no, no.

00:16:19.920 Actually, when BLM shows up, that's when the cops sit on their hands because they don't want to be accused of racism.

00:16:26.660 That's the reality.

00:16:27.720 We've all seen it.

00:16:30.820 You're just going to pretend we didn't.

00:16:33.160 You can go on right now.

00:16:33.980 If you're curious, just go to Google.

00:16:36.040 You'll find loads of videos of people just setting things on fire, strolling in, taking what they want, assaulting pedestrians.

00:16:45.080 There's a video.

00:16:48.340 I forget which city it was in.

00:16:49.140 It might have been in New York.

00:16:50.360 Somebody runs up and bashes a cop over the head with a brick.

00:16:53.400 Nothing happens to that guy on the video.

00:16:56.880 He's not shot for it.

00:16:59.360 Bashes a cop over the head with a brick. 0.99

00:17:01.000 Almost kills him. 0.64

00:17:01.540 There's multiple videos of that. 0.88

00:17:03.040 So that is total nonsense.

00:17:06.660 It's especially nonsense when you consider that the cops yesterday killed somebody. 0.96

00:17:14.800 They shot one of these people and killed them.

00:17:17.760 A woman yesterday, Ashley Babbitt, mother, military veteran, 14-year veteran, went to the protest.

00:17:29.880 She was at the Capitol.

00:17:31.500 She was in the Capitol building.

00:17:32.980 And you've probably seen the video.

00:17:34.280 I'm not going to play it here if you haven't.

00:17:35.620 This is extremely upsetting.

00:17:36.640 I mean, you're watching somebody die right in front of you.

00:17:38.280 But she tries to climb over a broken door. 0.73

00:17:42.600 She's unarmed, and they shoot her and kill her. 0.97

00:17:45.560 Okay? 0.99

00:17:46.040 That's what happens. 1.00

00:17:46.620 So you're telling us that that's going easy on them, to shoot and kill them. 1.00

00:17:53.160 No, here's what we know. 0.99

00:17:55.200 Here's what we actually know is the truth.

00:17:56.680 If that was a BLM protest, and that was a black woman rather than a white woman, 0.99

00:18:02.760 the outrage today from the media would be nuclear.

00:18:08.520 I'm telling you, if it was the exact same situation, exact same,

00:18:14.120 but they're carrying BLM flags, and she's black instead of white,

00:18:19.500 the outrage today would be like anything you've ever seen.

00:18:24.300 We all know that.

00:18:25.340 And there would be more rioting in response to it.

00:18:28.640 Instead, is there any outrage?

00:18:30.140 Nobody cares.

00:18:31.280 Media doesn't care. 0.94

00:18:32.680 If anything, they're justifying it openly.

00:18:34.600 They're celebrating it.

00:18:36.840 You look at what some leftists on Twitter are saying about it.

00:18:39.460 They're happy it happened.

00:18:43.640 So that's the truth.

00:18:45.440 And I'm just not going to sit here and be lied to.

00:18:47.360 I'm sorry.

00:18:49.560 Because the game we're supposed to play as conservatives,

00:18:51.760 what we're supposed to do today,

00:18:52.980 what the media tells us we're supposed to do today is just, you know,

00:18:56.920 someone like myself, I'm supposed to sit in front of the camera and say,

00:18:59.780 I condemn what happened yesterday.

00:19:01.560 I condemn it unequivocally.

00:19:03.140 And that's all I have to say.

00:19:04.540 I just condemn it.

00:19:05.420 It's the worst thing that's ever happened in the country.

00:19:07.580 And nobody is to blame at all for it, except the people doing it.

00:19:12.540 Nothing led up to it.

00:19:13.860 We can't talk about anything else.

00:19:15.360 We're just going to talk about how bad this one thing was.

00:19:18.560 I'm not playing that game.

00:19:21.580 Because that's a lie.

00:19:23.320 And I'm not doing it.

00:19:24.680 All right.

00:19:27.440 Number two from the Daily Wire says,

00:19:31.620 Twitter suspended President Donald Trump's account late on Wednesday evening

00:19:35.540 for allegedly violating the site's terms of service multiple times

00:19:39.280 in response to the riots that broke out in Washington, D.C.

00:19:41.880 Twitter safety reported,

00:19:42.920 As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violence situation in Washington, D.C.,

00:19:46.460 we have required the removal of three Donald Trump tweets

00:19:50.020 that were posted earlier today

00:19:51.220 for repeated and severe violations of our civic integrity policy.

00:19:56.000 This means that the account of Donald Trump will be locked for 12 hours

00:19:58.940 following the removal of these tweets.

00:20:00.540 If the tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked.

00:20:04.980 Yeah.

00:20:06.260 So now he's still the president.

00:20:09.820 So they're not going to,

00:20:10.760 I don't think they're going to ban him from Twitter yet.

00:20:13.080 But you can be sure they're going to.

00:20:15.080 He's as good as finished as far as Twitter goes.

00:20:19.260 They'll restore his account probably today at some point if they haven't already.

00:20:23.160 But January 21st, he's done.

00:20:26.220 They're kicking him off.

00:20:28.380 And I think that's now.

00:20:30.480 And yes, there's an egregious double standard there as well,

00:20:34.900 because as we have just gone through all these examples,

00:20:38.580 many Democrats have been openly encouraging violence,

00:20:41.920 doing it in public, doing it on TV, but also doing it on Twitter.

00:20:45.740 I mean, I can sit here and dig up some AOC tweets, I'm sure, that are in that vein.

00:20:51.080 And they don't get shut down.

00:20:52.620 Right?

00:20:52.940 So there's the double standard there.

00:20:55.100 But also I have to tell you, and maybe it's just because I'm in a,

00:20:57.720 I'm just in a bad mood today, if you can't tell.

00:21:03.600 It's hard for me to feel much sympathy for Donald Trump here on this.

00:21:06.360 It's hard for me to care if he gets kicked off Twitter.

00:21:10.340 Because Trump had four years to do something about Twitter,

00:21:13.980 to do something about social media censorship, social media bias.

00:21:18.120 And he didn't do anything.

00:21:19.860 That's the truth.

00:21:20.600 He tweeted about it.

00:21:21.460 But as with so many other things, Trump tweeted about it and said he was very angry

00:21:24.840 and he cared about it.

00:21:25.560 But at the end of the day, he didn't actually do anything about it.

00:21:28.620 And so he's going to face consequences for that.

00:21:33.620 And they're going to kick him off because they can.

00:21:36.300 All right.

00:21:37.160 Number three.

00:21:39.140 Let's see.

00:21:39.780 From the Daily Wire, it says,

00:21:40.780 The Washington Post has issued a major correction admitting that Jacob Blake,

00:21:44.420 the Kenosha, Wisconsin man shot by police in August,

00:21:46.680 had in fact been armed at the time.

00:21:49.460 The Post on Tuesday, we talked about this yesterday,

00:21:51.260 claimed that in a tweet that police officers won't be charged in shooting of Jacob Blake,

00:21:56.280 an unarmed black man who was shot seven times in the back,

00:21:58.620 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

00:21:59.680 The article itself claimed Blake was unarmed when he was shot.

00:22:03.320 But the Kenosha DA, we played the audio for you,

00:22:06.640 debunked that claim at a press conference.

00:22:08.800 He said it was incontrovertible that Blake was armed and video footage proves it.

00:22:12.520 In fact, he said that Jacob Blake admits that he was armed.

00:22:16.500 Jacob Blake comes out and says, yeah, I was armed.

00:22:19.300 And still the media for months insisted that, no, no, you weren't.

00:22:23.460 No, you weren't.

00:22:24.180 You were unarmed.

00:22:24.660 After claiming Blake was unarmed, the Post updated its article with a correction at the top that reads,

00:22:31.980 an earlier version of this story incorrectly described Jacob Blake as unarmed.

00:22:35.320 While his family has said he was not armed when shot by police,

00:22:38.180 prosecutors on Tuesday said video evidence depicts him holding a knife.

00:22:42.840 The story has been corrected.

00:22:43.980 Just to be clear, they only corrected this because they absolutely had to because of the backlash they were getting.

00:22:53.460 But if it wasn't for the backlash, they, of course, would keep that falsehood up there

00:22:56.400 because they knew it was false when they published it to begin with.

00:22:59.660 It's not like it was a mistake.

00:23:02.980 They knew it was false.

00:23:03.880 So even before the press conference, it was, it was known to everybody with eyes that Jacob Blake was armed because you could see it in the video.

00:23:11.780 You could see him holding a knife and you can hear them shouting, drop the knife.

00:23:15.740 So if you have eyes and ears, you knew he was armed and they knew it.

00:23:20.300 So this is a retraction because they were caught.

00:23:23.820 That's all it is.

00:23:27.800 And when you see here, they say, well, his family still says that he was, he was not armed.

00:23:32.460 And this also shows something that I guess people are often uncomfortable pointing it out.

00:23:38.120 But it's the reality that oftentimes in these situations with these police shootings,

00:23:42.920 these high profile police shootings, oftentimes the families will just straight up lie about what happened.

00:23:49.860 And that's a problem.

00:23:52.840 Now, you might say, okay, well, of course, they're biased in favor of their family member.

00:23:56.900 Okay.

00:23:57.280 I still say that doesn't excuse you for lying, especially when your lies are fueling rioting and violence and murder as it did in Kenosha.

00:24:09.140 But either way, the problem is that whatever the family says,

00:24:14.540 the media will treat the family of this so-called victim as the ultimate authority.

00:24:22.960 And they'll just repeat whatever the family says as if it's fact.

00:24:27.860 But so often it is just not fact at all.

00:24:30.840 They're lying.

00:24:32.240 And if the family here is saying it wasn't armed, they are lying about that.

00:24:38.360 Number four, I wanted to play this for you, not to belabor the point,

00:24:41.020 but we were talking about the media's encouragement of rioting and I played a few examples for you.

00:24:46.100 But this I just saw before we went on the air here, Tom Elliott at Grabian Media put together,

00:24:51.080 I think it's a pretty powerful, I didn't even show you the half of it.

00:24:54.460 This is a pretty powerful 90 second compilation that I just want to play for you.

00:24:57.700 Just to show you, it says the media's history of supporting Antifa.

00:25:01.880 It's just from, most of this is from the last, the past few months.

00:25:05.840 And here's what it sounds like.

00:25:07.460 I argue to you tonight, all punches are not equal morally.

00:25:13.620 In the eyes of the law, yes.

00:25:16.180 But in the eyes of good and evil, here's the argument.

00:25:19.500 They are strictly principled anti-fascists.

00:25:22.680 And what they see in the Trump administration and what they see happening in this country,

00:25:26.560 they see the neo-fascism that we see.

00:25:30.220 And they've taken a principled stand to stand against white supremacists and white nationalists

00:25:34.880 wherever they may show up.

00:25:36.160 It says it right in the name, Antifa, anti-fascism, which is what they were there fighting.

00:25:42.000 Listen, there's, you know, no organization is perfect.

00:25:44.480 There was some violence.

00:25:45.340 I think that a lot of people recognize that when pushed, self-defense is a legitimate response

00:25:50.260 to white supremacist and neo-Nazi violence.

00:25:52.220 The problem is to equate the violence in reaction against bigotry with the bigotry itself is

00:25:58.640 to misunderstand the fact that when you go to cancer treatment, the radiation is tough

00:26:03.560 treatment, but it is meant to remove the cancer.

00:26:07.040 There's a group of anti-fascists called the Black Bloc, which do tend to get violent.

00:26:11.240 Their idea is, look, nonviolence hasn't worked and we are going to try to stop this.

00:26:15.600 But they wouldn't have been there.

00:26:18.060 They wouldn't have been anywhere near there had it not been for the fact that white supremacists, 0.98

00:26:21.920 neo-Nazis were out scaring the living day louts out of most of the people in that town. 0.97

00:26:27.260 Thuggishness is thuggishness wherever it comes from politically.

00:26:30.320 And we should be the first to call it out.

00:26:32.160 I disagree.

00:26:32.800 I disagree.

00:26:35.320 I don't know.

00:26:35.800 We shouldn't cut it.

00:26:36.320 We shouldn't call out all thuggishness.

00:26:38.740 Not the kind that I like.

00:26:41.000 And that really is the difference.

00:26:42.420 I mean, if they're being honest, the media, and they were to respond to the charge of hypocrisy

00:26:50.660 on this issue, where they were openly supporting rioting for months and now pretending to be shocked

00:26:56.780 and appalled by it and violence and all that, their honest answer is that it's okay when we do it.

00:27:07.480 That's it.

00:27:08.300 It is.

00:27:09.060 It's okay when we do it.

00:27:10.520 And if they're doing it for a leftist cause, and especially if their victims have the right ideology

00:27:20.240 and skin color, then right in terms of right for being the victim, then it's okay.

00:27:27.860 That's their answer.

00:27:29.220 That's really what they believe.

00:27:30.940 That's, I guess, the advantage of being a moral relativist, that you don't have to hold yourself

00:27:38.180 to any standard at all.

00:27:40.520 Something can be totally wrong when one person does it and totally okay when someone else

00:27:48.120 does it because there is no moral, there is no objective moral truth.

00:27:53.980 There is no universal moral standard that everybody is held to.

00:27:57.700 And that's what we're seeing here.

00:28:00.540 All right, five, finally, big celebrity news from CNN.

00:28:03.820 Here it is.

00:28:04.580 Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West are figuring out their future and whether they're going to

00:28:08.340 stay married, according to two sources close to Kardashian West who spoke to CNN.

00:28:13.020 The sources confirm that West has been living at their home in Wyoming in recent months while

00:28:16.340 his wife stayed in California with her children.

00:28:18.640 They've been living separately for the last few months.

00:28:21.260 They've been in marriage counseling and have discussed divorce.

00:28:24.020 And sorry, as I read, as I'm reading this, I'm just realizing how little I care.

00:28:30.100 I'm realizing that I don't care at all about this story.

00:28:32.060 Um, but there it is.

00:28:36.420 They're getting divorced.

00:28:37.380 I, it's, it's, it's too bad.

00:28:38.760 And I, and, uh, and hopefully they'll, they'll work out their differences.

00:28:42.860 That's my full analysis on that particular story.

00:28:45.520 Now I'll tell you one problem that I have, and it's a pretty, pretty significant problem,

00:28:48.700 especially I find myself in Ubers and, and taking, you know, car services places a lot.

00:28:53.860 So I'm in, I'm in the back of cars and, uh, and that's what's a problem when I, when I,

00:28:58.400 cause I get very car sick and what you don't want to do is vomit in an Uber.

00:29:03.640 And you also don't want to have to ask them to pull over so that you can be sick because

00:29:06.800 that's also embarrassing.

00:29:07.960 And that's why I use relief band.

00:29:10.260 Relief band is the number one FDA cleared anti-nausea wristband that has been clinically

00:29:14.080 proven to quickly relieve and effectively prevent nausea and vomiting associated with

00:29:18.280 motion sickness, anxiety, migraine, hangover, morning sickness, chemotherapy, and so much

00:29:22.560 more.

00:29:22.760 The product is a hundred percent drug free, non-drowsy provides all natural relief with zero

00:29:26.680 side effects.

00:29:27.260 Technology was originally developed over 20 years ago in hospitals to relieve nausea from

00:29:31.180 patients, but now through relief band, it's available to the masses.

00:29:34.100 Relief band is the only over-the-counter wearable device that's been used in hospitals and oncology

00:29:38.520 clinics to treat nausea and vomiting.

00:29:40.840 Uh, and the other great thing in my experience, my daughter also uses one is that, you know,

00:29:45.260 you can, you can stop and get, uh, you know, they have medicine for, for motion sickness,

00:29:50.000 but a lot of that, a lot of that stuff will make you drowsy.

00:29:52.040 And if you have to drive, or even if you don't have to drive, but if you gotta be awake for

00:29:55.880 the rest of the day, then you don't want to be drowsy.

00:29:58.020 And that's where a relief band again comes in handy.

00:30:00.180 This new year, ensure nausea is never the reason to miss out on life's important moments.

00:30:04.020 Right now, relief band has an exclusive offer just for Matt Walsh listeners.

00:30:06.920 If you go to reliefband.com, use promo code Walsh or receive 20% off plus free shipping

00:30:11.500 and a no questions asked 30 day money back guarantee.

00:30:14.480 So head to r-e-l-i-e-f-b-a-n-d.com and use our promo code Walsh for 20% off.

00:30:22.240 Uh, also one other thing to mention, you know, there's a reason why the media creates

00:30:24.960 narratives about conservatives and it has less to do with politics.

00:30:27.560 It has more to do with culture, which is, which is shaped by the content we consume.

00:30:32.220 That's, that's where, like I've talked about, that's the real, that's going to be the real

00:30:36.540 influential and, uh, and harmful bias even more than in the news media.

00:30:40.480 It's in the entertainment that we consume.

00:30:42.460 The left has put media and entertainment in a vice grip and it's time now to take it back.

00:30:46.820 Daily Wire is releasing its first feature film.

00:30:49.660 We're very excited about it.

00:30:50.660 Run, hide, fight on Friday, January 15th for Daily Wire members.

00:30:53.740 You can check out the trailer at the Daily Wire YouTube.

00:30:56.660 Go there now and check it out.

00:30:57.880 Now let's get to our daily cancellation.

00:31:03.720 Today we're going to cancel Gretchen Whitmer, the Empress of Michigan, who has driven many

00:31:08.180 of her citizens into financial ruin over the past many months, but that's not why we're

00:31:11.840 canceling her now.

00:31:12.620 She's being canceled for this tweet.

00:31:15.920 This is from yesterday morning.

00:31:17.220 She says, good morning.

00:31:19.540 No problem there.

00:31:21.200 Um, not really anyway.

00:31:22.920 And, but there's a photo of a prayer candle adorned with the image of Stacey Abrams.

00:31:28.860 Abrams is wearing a robe, holding a Bible, has a halo around her head.

00:31:32.920 This is not the only example of religious worship being directed at Stacey Abrams, who many on

00:31:38.640 the left credit with helping to mobilize support for the Democrat candidates in Georgia, which

00:31:42.520 ultimately won them the state and the Senate.

00:31:44.340 And that's why they're being especially worshipful towards her today.

00:31:47.780 Actor Mark Ruffalo also tweeted a picture of Abrams, along with the caption, Stacey Abrams

00:31:52.300 is a real super superhero, once again, saving us all.

00:31:55.840 And as noted by The Hill says, quote, comedian Chelsea Handler and Frozen songwriter Chris

00:32:01.420 songwriter Kristen Anderson Lopez suggested statues should be erected in Abrams's honor.

00:32:07.320 And West Wing alum Richard Schiff floated making her person of the year while actress Rosanna

00:32:12.800 Arquette predicted the fair fight action founder would be the recipient of the country's highest

00:32:17.600 civilian honor.

00:32:19.240 Also, Cher said that Abrams is a goddess.

00:32:21.220 But topping them all is a tweet from a guy named Jeff Tiedrich saying, quote, I want to

00:32:29.200 bear Stacey Abramson's children.

00:32:32.260 He wants to bear her children, which I'm told these days is possible somehow.

00:32:38.780 But just so you know, if anyone ever asks you for the definition of the term beta male, just

00:32:44.700 show them that tweet.

00:32:45.740 That's that's it right there.

00:32:47.380 The personality cult around Stacey Abrams is, I have to say, one of the absolute weirdest

00:32:52.820 things in American politics, which is saying quite a lot these days, especially she is not

00:32:57.420 charismatic or especially impressive or accomplished.

00:32:59.980 She's a mediocre failed politician, much like Kamala Harris, who's also now lauded as a deity 1.00

00:33:04.940 in her own right, which we discussed earlier in the week.

00:33:07.720 But I suppose we should expect the Stacey Abrams personality cult to be weird because they're 0.86

00:33:13.000 all weird, all the personality cults.

00:33:15.240 And so on second thought, I'm canceling all personality cults of all kinds, especially

00:33:19.660 those that form around politicians or in this case would be politicians.

00:33:25.520 Now, it's one thing to support a politician, even to like a politician.

00:33:30.300 Personally, I tend to dislike all of them by default.

00:33:32.720 And then at best, I'll develop a mild tolerance for the ones that disgust me the least.

00:33:38.320 That's that's pretty much as far as I go.

00:33:40.920 You can ask me which politicians do I like.

00:33:43.020 I can't really tell you that.

00:33:43.900 I can tell you which ones disgust me the least, which of my least repulsed by.

00:33:48.380 That's that's as far as I can go.

00:33:49.900 I'm not suggesting that everybody should be as cynical as me, but if not cynical, we should

00:33:55.000 at least be skeptical of politicians.

00:33:56.860 We should always keep in mind that they are in a position of power over people.

00:34:00.900 And that they wanted that position.

00:34:04.360 That's why they're there.

00:34:07.520 You know, now it could be that they wanted it because they have such a deep and abiding

00:34:11.580 passion for public service.

00:34:13.780 Maybe.

00:34:15.140 That may be the case for like four or five politicians in the history of America.

00:34:19.400 The rest, though, you know, they may have some degree of passion for public service.

00:34:24.000 But the fact is that there's also a fair amount of narcissism, greed, self-interest and so on

00:34:29.100 that propels their drive to power.

00:34:31.300 I mean, you just have to think about what is it that would make you want to be have power

00:34:39.440 and control over people?

00:34:40.420 Why would you go through all this just so you could be in this position?

00:34:45.700 Again, you might have noble reasons, but most of the time for most people, you don't.

00:34:52.400 Now, as you know, I plan to one day be the theocratic dictator of America, and it's entirely

00:34:56.420 greed and narcissism that fuels that desire for me.

00:34:58.920 So I know what I'm talking about here.

00:35:01.580 The point is that the only safe and prudent and truly American attitude towards politicians

00:35:05.980 is one of cautious skepticism.

00:35:08.160 Support them when they're right, criticize them when they're wrong, and never expect

00:35:12.440 them to be your savior or your goddess or your god.

00:35:16.120 This is one of the great problems we face in American society today, I think, in my view.

00:35:20.320 Even if people are not literally putting halos around a politician and lighting prayer candles

00:35:24.580 with her face on it, still many Americans have been conditioned to look to politicians, especially

00:35:29.480 politicians on the national stage, for the answers to their problems.

00:35:34.020 You know, we're searching for someone to save us, to restore our hopes and dreams and everything.

00:35:38.160 But that is not something a politician can do.

00:35:41.980 And the ones that promise they can do it are always lying.

00:35:47.300 And they all promise they can do it.

00:35:49.020 So what does that tell you?

00:35:50.620 If America is to be saved, whatever that means exactly, it will happen in your home, in 0.95

00:35:58.360 your family, and in everybody else's.

00:36:00.960 Mother Teresa famously said, if you want to change the world, go home and love your family.

00:36:05.400 It sounds like a platitude, but there's a deep truth in it.

00:36:09.880 And it's much better than if you want to change the world, go vote for this problem, this person

00:36:16.440 who will solve all your problems.

00:36:18.660 That's a cultish mentality.

00:36:20.160 And it's part of what's destroying us right now, which is why it is canceled.

00:36:29.640 But again, especially the cult around Stacey Abrams, because that one is just her of all 0.99

00:36:34.000 people.

00:36:34.960 I mean, at least choose someone who's charismatic.

00:36:37.440 At least then I can sort of understand it.

00:36:39.420 But Stacey Abrams?

00:36:41.600 Come on.

00:36:43.200 Canceled, canceled, canceled.

00:36:44.480 Down the board.

00:36:45.620 That's going to do it for us today.

00:36:47.220 Thanks for watching, everybody.

00:36:48.160 Thanks for listening.

00:36:49.120 Have a great day.

00:36:50.360 Godspeed.
