The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 632 - The Media Suddenly Stops Caring About Unarmed People Getting Shot By Cops

00:00:00.000 Today on The Matt Walsh Show, an unarmed woman was shot and killed by police when the Capitol was taken over on Wednesday.

00:00:05.540 All the people who have spent years shouting about the killing of unarmed civilians have been mysteriously silent about this case.

00:00:11.880 Or, if not silenced, they have celebrated the woman's death outright.

00:00:15.680 Also, five headlines including the Democrats hatching a plan to remove Trump from office,

00:00:19.740 even though he's going to be gone anyway from office in two weeks,

00:00:22.460 and will cancel a former NBA star who says that the riot in D.C. was an example of white supremacy somehow.

00:00:28.840 And his argument gets even more absurd from there.

00:00:31.780 We'll talk about all that and more today on The Matt Walsh Show.

00:00:41.240 You know, I think what you're looking for in clothing, at least what I'm looking for, is you want them to be comfortable,

00:00:46.220 but it also has to look like you care about how you look.

00:00:49.080 Because, you know, anyone could just throw on some sweatpants, a stained, you know, sweatshirt or something, slippers, go to Walmart.

00:00:57.440 Anyone could do that.

00:00:59.580 And sometimes we're tempted, maybe, as men to do that.

00:01:03.060 But you have to also care about how you look.

00:01:04.820 And that's where Mack Weldon comes in.

00:01:07.040 There are lots of things that you'd probably like to leave behind in 2020.

00:01:09.740 One of the most important being your old underwear drawer.

00:01:12.440 If you're rolling into the new year with the same bunching, chafing, uncomfortable underwear,

00:01:16.360 you've got to check out Mack Weldon.

00:01:18.100 Mack Weldon is an essential piece of my daily routine.

00:01:20.720 I mean, they've got pretty much everything you need as far as clothing.

00:01:24.060 They've got men's essentials, socks, shirts, hoodies, underwear, polos, active shorts.

00:01:29.520 And there's also a lot of versatility to their clothing because you look great and you feel great.

00:01:34.500 If you're working out, going out, going to work, going on a date,

00:01:39.560 probably you're not doing all those things at the same time.

00:01:41.700 But Mack Weldon is for everyday life.

00:01:44.040 And there's real technology in their clothing as well because they've got a wide range of customized fabrics

00:01:49.180 that can keep up with you no matter what your day looks like.

00:01:53.360 And on top of that, they've got Weldon Blue, which I would recommend.

00:01:55.660 It's totally free.

00:01:56.300 It's a loyalty program.

00:01:57.680 Level 1 gets you free shipping for life.

00:01:59.500 Once you reach level 2 by spending $200, you get 20% off every order for the next year.

00:02:04.300 I love Mack Weldon personally.

00:02:06.620 I'm wearing Mack Weldon right now.

00:02:07.800 This shirt is a Mack Weldon masterpiece.

00:02:11.140 And it, of course, is plaid.

00:02:12.760 I don't know if it comes through in the camera.

00:02:15.620 But when I was asked, you know, when Mack Weldon came aboard,

00:02:19.480 and my first question to them was, do you have plaid?

00:02:22.820 And they said, we do.

00:02:24.220 And I said, I'm sold.

00:02:36.180 Reinventing Men's Basics. 0.76

00:02:37.760 Now, if we're able to think back and conjure up ancient history,

00:02:41.340 we may recall the night of May 28th of this past year, 2020,

00:02:46.320 when rioters were demolishing the city of Minneapolis in response to the death of George Floyd.

00:02:51.760 In the middle of that night of chaos,

00:02:53.860 rioters forced their way into the Minneapolis 3rd Precinct.

00:02:57.060 Police officers then abandoned the building,

00:02:59.840 driving hastily away in vehicles or retreating on foot in full riot gear

00:03:04.240 as the mob hurled rocks and fireworks at them.

00:03:07.180 Reportedly, city council members had been begging the police chief and the mayor

00:03:11.420 to surrender the building to the rioters for fear that defending it would only further enrage them.

00:03:16.100 We don't want to make them angry by defending the police station.

00:03:20.240 So the building was surrendered and eventually it was ransacked and torched.

00:03:25.160 Now, this one incident, one of many similar incidents in Minneapolis

00:03:28.580 and other major cities across the country over the summer,

00:03:30.900 single-handedly puts to rest any claim that police used more violent tactics against BLM rioters

00:03:37.960 than they did against the rioters at Capitol Hill this week.

00:03:40.660 It is very hard to make such a case when police quite literally handed their precinct over to the rioters

00:03:46.040 and sat back and watched them burn it to the ground.

00:03:50.380 Let's imagine something.

00:03:52.820 What if cops had decided to stand and fight,

00:03:56.160 defending their building from the rampaging mob?

00:03:58.300 And what if they had used lethal force to do so?

00:04:02.080 And what if, in the ensuing melee,

00:04:04.440 an unarmed black woman had been shot at near point-blank range in the neck

00:04:09.180 and killed as she tried to climb through a broken window into the police station?

00:04:14.000 What if that had happened?

00:04:16.180 Can there be any doubt about the public and political reaction to such an event?

00:04:20.880 Is there any chance that the BLM and Antifa set and the media and the Democratic Party

00:04:26.100 would ignore the woman's death or outright defend the officer on the basis that the black woman

00:04:30.800 didn't belong there, shouldn't have been climbing in the window, 0.99

00:04:34.320 and so deserve to be killed? 0.96

00:04:35.700 Is such a reaction conceivable? 0.99

00:04:38.080 I think we all know it's not.

00:04:40.660 This hypothetical woman,

00:04:42.660 let's pretend her name was, say, I don't know, Ashley Babbitt. 1.00

00:04:45.340 She would be memorialized with building-sized murals,

00:04:50.380 and more rioting would be conducted on her behalf.

00:04:52.980 And athletes like LeBron James would put her name on his jersey and exhort us to say her name.

00:04:58.140 The outrage over her death would be nuclear in proportion,

00:05:02.060 and her name would be famous in death.

00:05:04.520 A martyr for the cause, another canonized saint for social justice.

00:05:07.540 That is how it would have gone with the hypothetical Ashley Babbitt, 0.91

00:05:12.860 and we all know it.

00:05:14.560 What about the real Ashley Babbitt, though?

00:05:17.240 The real Ashley Babbitt, a white Trump supporter,

00:05:20.060 was killed in real life while participating in a swarm on the Capitol building on Wednesday.

00:05:25.380 According to reports, she was unarmed.

00:05:27.680 Didn't have a weapon.

00:05:29.460 Video of the incident shows that she was attempting to climb through a broken window

00:05:32.920 when an officer shoots her in the neck and kills her. 0.99

00:05:35.260 This is inside the Capitol building.

00:05:36.440 Now, we've heard quite a lot about the killing of unarmed civilians

00:05:40.780 and the harsh treatment of rioters,

00:05:42.480 and here we have an example of both.

00:05:45.120 She was unarmed, she was killed,

00:05:46.460 and I would say shooting someone, that's pretty harsh treatment.

00:05:49.240 But this Ashley Babbitt has not gotten the sort of treatment and attention 1.00

00:05:52.860 that our hypothetical Ashley Babbitt would have received,

00:05:55.500 nor has she gotten the treatment or attention

00:05:57.160 that non-hypothetical violent armed felons,

00:06:02.520 not unarmed, but armed felons like Jacob Blake have received.

00:06:06.440 After getting shot by police.

00:06:10.320 In this case, Ashley Babbitt has been mostly ignored by the media and the left.

00:06:15.660 Most of the scant attention her death has attracted has been in the form of

00:06:19.340 what the left would normally call victim blaming.

00:06:22.140 Perusing Google this morning, I could not find a single headline,

00:06:26.480 a single one in any major publication that identified her as an unarmed woman in the headline.

00:06:33.320 Which is strange because usually unarmed is the first thing they tell us in these kinds of situations.

00:06:39.200 The next thing they tell us is the race of the person.

00:06:43.620 Usually.

00:06:45.540 Most of the headlines that I've seen about this shooting are like this one from NBC News.

00:06:50.040 It says,

00:06:50.920 Woman killed in Capitol was Trump supporter who embraced conspiracy theories.

00:06:55.040 Now, the article goes on into great detail,

00:06:58.420 telling us about all the sins the dead woman committed on social media.

00:07:02.360 For example, quoting from the article, it says,

00:07:04.920 Using the handle Common Ash Sense,

00:07:08.460 Babbitt's Twitter account was almost singularly focused on radical conservative topics and conspiracy theories.

00:07:13.480 Among other fringe beliefs, she tweeted about Pizzagate,

00:07:16.840 a viral disinformation campaign that falsely alleged a child abuse ring was being operated by Democrats from a Washington pizza restaurant.

00:07:23.160 Babbitt was a loyal Fox News watcher, according to thousands of tweets to Fox News hosts.

00:07:27.200 But she also engaged on social media with the conspiracy news internet news site Infowars.

00:07:32.720 In 2020, Babbitt began to tweet with QAnon accounts and use QAnon hashtags.

00:07:37.080 QAnon conspiracy theories subscribe to a false belief that high-profile Democrats and Hollywood celebrities

00:07:41.940 are ritually sacrificing children, that Trump is fighting to stop it.

00:07:45.240 QAnon followers have allegedly committed real-world violent crimes, including murder,

00:07:48.720 and the FBI labeled it a potential domestic terror threat in 2019.

00:07:52.760 Unquote.

00:07:54.720 So those, now, you know, again, normally, somebody's killed by police.

00:07:58.900 We're told that details about their life are irrelevant.

00:08:03.140 The fact that George Floyd forced his way into a woman's house and put a gun to her stomach,

00:08:09.060 that's not relevant.

00:08:10.660 We can't talk about that.

00:08:11.940 But the fact that Ashley Babbitt tweeted some kooky conspiracy theories, that's relevant. 0.99

00:08:19.840 Many more details are provided about Babbitt's tweeting habits.

00:08:24.060 As for information on the shooting itself, almost nothing is provided at all.

00:08:30.820 In fact, I could find only one mention of the fact that she was unarmed in any mainstream publication.

00:08:36.580 Forget about just the headline.

00:08:37.880 It's not in any headline, but is it even in the article?

00:08:40.660 I found one article, one.

00:08:43.700 The Washington Post, in the last sentence of the third paragraph of its article on the shooting,

00:08:47.820 quotes two law enforcement officials who confirm that she was unarmed.

00:08:50.800 Now, could the shooting still be justified?

00:08:54.460 Babbitt was where she should not have been, doing something that she should not have been doing.

00:08:59.700 That's clear.

00:09:01.100 But if that alone justifies deadly force, then police would have license to kill many people at many of the riots that have broken out around the country.

00:09:08.420 It's hard to see how the officer who pulled the trigger could have reasonably viewed Babbitt as a lethal threat to himself or anyone else.

00:09:15.760 She's a small, unarmed woman climbing through a window. 0.93

00:09:19.540 Could they not have pushed her back?

00:09:21.880 Could they not have taken her to the ground and cuffed her?

00:09:25.040 Video shows, and this is really important, there was a whole line of armed, heavily armed law enforcement officers coming up the steps directly behind her.

00:09:34.800 I mean, they were a few feet from her when she was killed.

00:09:38.380 Could none of them have simply grabbed her and pulled her away?

00:09:43.240 Or are the reports wrong?

00:09:44.900 Did Ashley Babbitt actually have a weapon?

00:09:47.520 Or did the officer think she had one?

00:09:49.260 I doubt it based on the video footage, but I don't know because the media isn't bothering to ask.

00:09:55.200 Did he fire because she was wearing a backpack and he thought there might be explosives in it?

00:10:00.380 Again, that seems dubious since lots of people were wearing backpacks and they didn't kill anybody else.

00:10:05.520 And lots of people at other riots wear bags and that's never a justification to shoot any of them.

00:10:10.760 Again, it's hard to know because the media isn't bothering to look for answers.

00:10:15.600 Nobody is demanding accountability.

00:10:18.540 Do we even know the name of the officer who pulled the trigger?

00:10:21.400 Has he been put on administrative leave while the investigation is underway, as is usually par for the course in these situations?

00:10:29.160 There appears to be little interest in these questions.

00:10:31.360 The people who have, again, spent years panicking over police shootings, especially police shootings of unarmed people, are happy to simply let this one slide.

00:10:41.380 Just let it go.

00:10:42.980 We won't even ask about it.

00:10:44.860 This is not what would happen if Ashley Babbitt had a different political affiliation and a different skin color. 1.00

00:10:52.960 And that is not a double standard that we should simply accept and say, well, it's just the way it goes.

00:11:00.680 The media only cares and reports if, you know, you're on the left and especially if you're not white.

00:11:06.600 I don't think we should just accept that.

00:11:11.120 One thing is clear.

00:11:12.140 The left has poured into the streets to protest and riot over police shootings that were easily more justified than this.

00:11:18.740 Starting with Michael Brown, who was killed while in the process of assaulting a police officer and trying to take his gun.

00:11:26.700 There's no rational argument that would make Brown's killing wrong, but Babbitt's killing right.

00:11:32.920 But the double standard and the apparent incoherence here is only confusing until you realize that the movement against police brutality actually has nothing at all to do with police brutality and never did.

00:11:44.980 The deaths of men like Brown were simply excuses.

00:11:48.340 They provided cover, a forum.

00:11:50.660 They were a Trojan horse. 0.83

00:11:52.720 Tragedy is used to justify anarchy and to enact the left's radical cultural agenda.

00:11:57.640 If the concern was really over brutality, then these people would at least be asking questions about Ashley Babbitt's killing.

00:12:06.000 They would at least be demanding some answers.

00:12:09.140 They would at least care.

00:12:11.560 But they don't because they're frauds and always have been.

00:12:17.000 Let's get now to our five headlines.

00:12:18.400 Well, the good news is that the brands, the brands are on the case.

00:12:28.280 The brands are speaking out.

00:12:30.140 That's the good news.

00:12:31.100 Chevron, Coca-Cola, Bank of America.

00:12:32.940 They've all come out and denounced the D.C. riot.

00:12:35.880 And Ben and Jerry's, thank God, also.

00:12:38.080 You know, you need your ice cream to be to you need your ice cream to stay woke.

00:12:41.700 Your ice cream needs to stay frozen and stay woke.

00:12:43.600 That's what I always say.

00:12:44.420 That's I say it all the time.

00:12:45.280 But personally, I like for my ice cream, you know, here's how I usually like my ice cream serve with with whipped cream, hot fudge and a sprinkling of social consciousness.

00:12:55.400 Just a sprinkling.

00:12:56.860 Rainbow sprinkles, actually, are the socially conscious ones.

00:12:59.720 But then also Axe Body Spray.

00:13:02.060 OK, they have also come out and spoken out about this, which is I would have expected this of like Calvin Klein cologne, something slightly more elitist.

00:13:10.900 But Axe Body Spray is the working man's scent. 0.97

00:13:15.280 Well, it's Axe Body Spray is the working man's scent before he's a working man when he's still in high school and attending his first homecoming dance.

00:13:24.940 But either way, here's what Axe Body Spray said.

00:13:28.160 Somebody pointed out that a bottle of Axe Body Spray was left behind in the Capitol after the riot.

00:13:32.920 And the company came out and and said, here's their quote, said, we'd rather be lonely than with the mob.

00:13:43.620 Axe condemns yesterday's acts of violence and hate at the Capitol.

00:13:47.560 We believe in the democratic process and the peaceful transition of power.

00:13:52.020 So that's that's great.

00:13:53.040 But you want your body spray to believe in the democratic process.

00:13:57.840 At least maybe you do.

00:13:59.220 I don't personally.

00:14:00.100 I prefer a more I prefer more authoritarian body sprays. 0.63

00:14:05.920 I like to douse myself in the scent of despotism in the morning.

00:14:09.780 I think I'm smelling especially tyrannical today, in fact.

00:14:13.000 So that's that's how I am.

00:14:14.260 But if you if you like the socially conscious body sprays, then go pick up Axe.

00:14:17.400 All right.

00:14:17.980 That wasn't even a headline.

00:14:19.020 I was just mentioning that.

00:14:19.700 Let's go to number one here, the Democrats, Democrats led by Nancy Pelosi are now all in on a plan to remove Trump from office.

00:14:27.420 And they're calling on Mike Pence to do the deed.

00:14:31.040 This again, even though Donald Trump one way or another, I mean, even if you were still holding on hope, holding on to some hope that somehow Donald Trump would still be president on January 21st, that that now has to be completely gone.

00:14:45.600 He's not going to be president.

00:14:46.640 And so what's the point of removing him from office?

00:14:51.100 Well, first, we'll listen to Nancy Pelosi.

00:14:52.560 This is what Nancy Pelosi had to say.

00:14:54.360 In calling for this seditious act, president has committed an unspeakable assault on our nation and our people.

00:15:02.900 I joined the Senate Democratic leader in calling on the vice president to remove this president by immediately invoking the 25th Amendment.

00:15:12.740 If the vice president and cabinet do not act, the Congress may be prepared to move forward with impeachment.

00:15:19.960 That is the overwhelming sentiment of my caucus.

00:15:23.400 To those whose purpose was to deter our responsibility, you have failed.

00:15:29.900 You did not divert the Congress from our solemn constitutional purpose to validate the overwhelming election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as president and vice president of the United States.

00:15:44.520 We're very pleased now that we have in 13 days President Joe Biden, a Democratic House majority and a Democratic Senate majority that will work to heal, to heal and restore the soul of our nation.

00:16:01.760 Yeah. Putting aside any of the individual claims she makes there, just just talking about this idea of we're going to remove Trump from office when there's two weeks left.

00:16:14.140 There's only one reason. And I don't think they're actually going to succeed at doing this.

00:16:19.160 They might impeach him, but it's actually removing from office.

00:16:22.940 I don't think it's going to happen. And the idea of invoking the 25th Amendment and Pence.

00:16:26.360 Yeah, I it wouldn't surprise me to learn. I mean, the reports are that Pence is furious at Donald Trump because Trump just threw him under the bus and tossed him to the wolves.

00:16:36.080 And I don't blame Pence for being furious for that. I would be, too.

00:16:39.620 But I sincerely doubt that Pence would go along with this.

00:16:42.720 So I don't think it's actually going to happen. But there's only one reason.

00:16:48.240 To try to do this, there's only one reason to try to remove Donald Trump from office when he's only got two weeks left anyway.

00:16:54.700 And that is if you want chaos and violence, if you want more chaos and violence, I should say, if you want to make everything worse and if you want to milk every every last day of Trump's presidency for all the chaos it's worth, then you would do this because that's what's going to happen.

00:17:14.240 You just saw how some people reacted to the certification of the votes.

00:17:19.040 Can you can you can you imagine what happens if you remove him from office?

00:17:26.260 Utter chaos.

00:17:29.140 But that's what the Democrats want.

00:17:32.620 Politically, because it's very politically advantageous for them.

00:17:34.760 So that's the only reason they're talking about this, because that's what they want.

00:17:38.020 I mean, even if you were to just for the sake of argument, just grant that Donald Trump is this dangerous monster and so yada, yada, et cetera and so forth.

00:17:51.660 Even then, he's out of office in a few days.

00:17:56.200 So that's what the Democrats are going to try to do.

00:17:57.920 That's what we have to prepare for.

00:17:58.800 They're going to milk this for all it's worth.

00:18:04.120 They've got, you know, they've got two weeks left of Donald Trump and they're going to try to get everything they can out of that politically, which means chaos and anarchy and division and all of that.

00:18:14.940 All right.

00:18:15.640 Speaking of which, number two, Joe Biden gave a speech yesterday.

00:18:18.360 There are there are many different directions he could have gone with this speech.

00:18:22.940 One direction, the right direction, would be to speak to all Americans and to call for an end to the unrest.

00:18:29.200 I don't think it would really amount to much, but that's what he should have said.

00:18:32.540 Instead, he decided to throw more grenades into the crowd.

00:18:35.760 Metaphorically, he decided to engage in some patented Democratic race hustling.

00:18:40.400 And let's listen to that here.

00:18:42.040 What we saw yesterday, in plain view, was another violation of the fundamental tenet of this nation.

00:18:50.620 Not only do we see the failure to protect one of the three branches of our government, we also saw a clear failure to carry out equal justice.

00:19:01.700 I'm not sure if you used to say in the Senate, excuse the point of personal privilege.

00:19:05.280 A little over an hour and a half after the chaos started, I got a text from my granddaughter, Finnegan Biden, who's a senior in her last semester at the University of Pennsylvania.

00:19:20.500 She sent me a photo of military people in full military gear.

00:19:29.080 Scores of them lining the steps of the Lincoln Memorial because of protests by Black Lives Matter.

00:19:40.720 She said, Pop, this isn't fair.

00:19:44.340 No one can tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesting yesterday, there wouldn't have been, they wouldn't have been treated very, very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol.

00:20:02.140 We all know that's true.

00:20:04.500 And it is unacceptable.

00:20:06.680 Totally unacceptable.

00:20:09.160 Yeah, you're right.

00:20:09.980 They would have been treated differently.

00:20:10.820 I mean, the Capitol Police probably would have just vacated the premises entirely, handed it over to them like they did with the police stations, like they did with many buildings around the country.

00:20:21.200 Entire buildings handed over to the BLM rioters to just do what you want with it. 0.93

00:20:28.440 So, yeah, they would have been treated differently, Joe.

00:20:30.360 So, I think we also have, we'll play this too, just to show how this is a full court press by the Democrats to stir up as much division as they can in the middle of this.

00:20:41.840 Here's, I think we have Kamala Harris. 0.97

00:20:43.400 She's pushing the exact same lie.

00:20:45.620 Here she is.

00:20:46.160 We witnessed two systems of justice when we saw one that let extremists storm the United States Capitol and another that released tear gas on peaceful protesters last summer.

00:21:03.420 The American people have expressed brightly outrage.

00:21:11.380 We know this is unacceptable.

00:21:15.160 We know we should be better than this.

00:21:19.640 And, of course, nothing even approaching this came from Kamala Harris or Joe Biden during the riots in the summer.

00:21:33.480 We're better than this.

00:21:34.780 This is none of that.

00:21:37.000 Joe Biden called the people at the Capitol thugs.

00:21:40.360 What did he say? 0.97

00:21:40.760 A mob of thugs.

00:21:42.860 You think he used that phrase to talk about the BLM rioters?

00:21:45.580 You think he did?

00:21:46.040 I can go back and check, but I'm just going to say right now he didn't.

00:21:52.960 I've already addressed this lie many times, but I'll continue to address it.

00:21:57.640 This is just simply false.

00:22:00.020 And it is, we are being asked to cooperate with the Democrats as they rewrite history.

00:22:08.400 Not ancient history, but history that just happened and we all lived through and we all saw.

00:22:14.380 And many of us saw in our own communities.

00:22:18.700 Just complete and total nonsense.

00:22:21.600 Number three is from the Daily Wire.

00:22:23.020 Officials in Los Angeles County are warning that areas more, warning the areas more than 10 million residents that simply stepping outside is now deemed risky behavior within the nation's pandemic epicenter.

00:22:35.100 Los Angeles County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said, everyone should keep in mind that community transition rates are so high that you run the risk of an exposure whenever you leave your home.

00:22:46.100 Assume that this deadly invisible virus is everywhere.

00:22:49.700 Looking for a willing host.

00:22:52.480 Well, that's a healthy way to live, isn't it?

00:22:56.000 Assume it's everywhere.

00:22:57.640 Searching for you.

00:22:58.700 That's, you know, and that is how many people have lived and that's why we've seen the collapse of mental health in this country.

00:23:07.160 That's one of the reasons we've seen suicide rates go up.

00:23:10.600 Because of this, not only the, people aren't just being isolated, but they're having this fear and paranoia hammered into their minds and their heads every second of the day.

00:23:21.000 But, you know, from one perspective, she's right that stepping outside your house is risky behavior in a sense.

00:23:31.220 Every time you leave your home, it's a risk.

00:23:33.740 Because anything could happen.

00:23:34.960 I mean, you could get hit by a bus crossing the street.

00:23:36.740 The thing is, that's the case whether there's a pandemic or not.

00:23:41.560 It is risky behavior.

00:23:42.720 To do anything is risky behavior.

00:23:44.440 To leave your home is a risky behavior.

00:23:45.620 To go into a crowded, you know, to go to a crowded area is risky behavior.

00:23:49.240 Even if there's no coronavirus, there are other diseases.

00:23:53.040 There, you know, who knows what could happen.

00:23:54.540 A shooter could come.

00:23:55.560 I mean, anything could happen.

00:23:58.500 Of course, when you think about that, even being in your house is risky.

00:24:01.720 People die in their homes all the time.

00:24:03.600 Fall down the steps.

00:24:06.020 There are many risks that we face as human beings.

00:24:10.320 But that's not a reason to stop living our lives.

00:24:14.160 We are supposed to live our lives in spite of the risk.

00:24:17.040 What we cannot do is stop living until the risks go away, because they'll never go away.

00:24:22.840 Number four, from NBC News, it says the acting U.S. attorney in Washington, Mike Sherwin, says his office has now charged 55 suspects with various offenses, including unlawful entry, assault, theft, and weapons charges.

00:24:33.700 This is in relation to what happened on Wednesday.

00:24:36.340 Eight suspects face gun charges.

00:24:39.240 One suspect had a military-style semi-automatic rifle and 11 Molotov cocktails.

00:24:42.880 Sherwin says federal and local investigators, hundreds of people, are now searching social media for photos and video clips of suspects engaged in unlawful activity.

00:24:50.960 Those people are being arrested as quickly as possible.

00:24:53.000 Department of Justice expects this search for suspects to last all year.

00:24:57.620 Now, this is good.

00:25:01.000 I think I have had a consistent stance on this all along.

00:25:04.940 This has always been my—I actually believe in law and order.

00:25:07.540 I'm a law and order guy.

00:25:08.500 I always have been.

00:25:09.060 So, when you've got mobs of people committing crimes, arrest them.

00:25:15.740 Absolutely. 0.99

00:25:17.420 And if they're dumb enough to do it on camera, without even having their faces covered, fine them and arrest them. 1.00

00:25:27.340 100%. 1.00

00:25:27.900 That's my stance.

00:25:29.080 But I can't help but notice that, you know, when our lawmakers in D.C., because they're on top of this, right?

00:25:40.440 They're the ones.

00:25:41.120 They're organizing task forces, and they're, you know, they're mobilizing, and they're saying, let's fine these people and arrest them.

00:25:46.840 So, our lawmakers in D.C., when their place of work is attacked and the windows are broken, that's when they want to mobilize.

00:25:57.700 But when, you know, someone else's workplace is vandalized, invaded, looted, ransacked, burned, they don't care about that.

00:26:07.100 So, many Americans, what our lawmakers experienced on Wednesday, many Americans, hundreds, thousands, over the course of the last several months have experienced exactly that and worse, much worse in some cases.

00:26:24.160 They've experienced their places of employment being burned to the ground, which I would say is worse for you if you work there than having the windows broken, right?

00:26:37.680 So, many Americans have experienced at least that, sometimes much worse.

00:26:43.020 But it didn't seem like anyone in D.C. cared about that.

00:26:45.560 There's very little mobilization happening.

00:26:48.400 The DOJ is not doing much about it.

00:26:50.820 They claim they're going to do something about it.

00:26:52.080 They're not.

00:26:54.160 In fact, charges are dropped against the rioters in those cases.

00:27:01.420 There's a very good chance if you go and, you know, you go burn down your local convenience store.

00:27:06.800 Of course, the person who works there, he might be hurt or killed in the process.

00:27:10.680 Who cares about that, apparently?

00:27:12.400 He's going to lose his whole livelihood.

00:27:15.300 They're not setting up any task force for that.

00:27:20.800 I find that to be obscene.

00:27:22.340 I just do.

00:27:24.160 And I also find this logic to be obscene.

00:27:26.920 I find it, I cannot agree that, you know, it is better to burn down and attack your neighbor's place of work than it is to attack, you know, our politician's place of work.

00:27:45.500 I don't agree with that.

00:27:47.460 I think they're both bad.

00:27:49.620 But what we're being told by the media, the left and Democrats is that this, it is so much worse to attack where our politicians work.

00:27:57.920 So much worse than simply victimizing your neighbor at his place of work.

00:28:01.880 Again, I find that logic to be obscene.

00:28:07.400 And I absolutely reject it.

00:28:11.940 All of this energy, all of this energy and effort should have also been expended to deal with the rioters who are victimizing their own communities.

00:28:22.260 All right, number five from the New York Post.

00:28:30.360 First, it says, a prominent human rights attorney apparently posed as a Latino woman for years, despite claiming Puerto Rican and Colombian heritage for over a decade.

00:28:38.640 Natasha Lycia, I'm sorry, her name is Natasha Lycia Ora Bannon, is actually a white woman from Georgia, according to a report by the nonprofit news outlet Prism.

00:28:49.420 She serves senior counsel at the Latino Justice Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.

00:28:56.220 Records obtained by the site say Bannon's family arrived in the United States from Ireland, Italy, and Russia.

00:29:01.000 On Monday, Bannon 43 clarified that she's white in response to the report.

00:29:04.920 She says, I'm racially white and have always said that.

00:29:07.580 However, my cultural identity was formed as a result of my family, both chosen and chosen for me.

00:29:12.820 And that has always been Latinx. 0.99

00:29:15.720 So, you know, right away, I didn't even need to read any of the rest of this.

00:29:18.600 I already knew that she wasn't really Latina because she called herself Latinx. 1.00

00:29:24.360 That's a white thing for sure.

00:29:25.920 That is a woke, liberal, white thing.

00:29:30.100 Latinx or Latinx.

00:29:32.560 She says, my identity is my most authentic expression of who I am and how I pay honor to the people who have formed me since I was a child.

00:29:39.880 So we have yet another.

00:29:41.320 It's just another example.

00:29:43.860 Someone posing.

00:29:44.700 White person posing as non-white.

00:29:46.180 And, of course, all the same points that I've raised before can be raised here and should be raised about how, you know,

00:29:53.620 if we really live in a society of white privilege where non-white people are oppressed and you are afforded all of this mysterious privilege just for being white,

00:30:02.780 why do we have so many white people forfeiting that privilege and posing as an oppressed person so that they can also be oppressed?

00:30:13.340 That doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?

00:30:14.860 And the other common point here, but an important point, is that by leftist logic and the way we look at identity these days as this entirely fluid thing,

00:30:30.740 this self-determined thing where you get to decide your own identity.

00:30:34.700 You can even decide, you know, not just your hair color, but you could decide your biological identity.

00:30:39.960 You could change your sex if you want to. 0.90

00:30:42.680 So if that's the case, then why can't she be Latinx?

00:30:48.440 Why not?

00:30:50.400 I mean, she could be whatever ethnicity or race she wants, it would seem. 0.98

00:30:53.100 The logic she's using here, the defense she offers for herself, my identity is my most authentic expression, you know, this is how I feel.

00:31:03.660 It doesn't really make any sense, but by the left's way of thinking, it does.

00:31:09.260 In fact, it is far less absurd and far more plausible for a white person to claim to be, you know, Latino or black.

00:31:21.960 That is far less absurd and far more plausible than a man claiming to be a woman.

00:31:26.780 Lots of parents have been thinking about and exploring homeschooling.

00:31:30.520 There's been a huge surge in homeschooling, which I think is a good thing.

00:31:34.140 You know, it's one small bright spot to come out of everything that's happened over the last year is that at least parents are starting to think about homeschooling, which is a great option no matter what's happening in the world.

00:31:46.680 But to the parents who are concerned about the coming school semester for their school-edged children, there's a new option for homeschooling.

00:31:52.820 If you're thinking about homeschooling, you don't know how you're going to go about it.

00:31:55.260 It seems kind of overwhelming.

00:31:56.240 Well, let me tell you about Homeschool Magnet.

00:31:58.200 With school schedules always changing and the challenges of so-called Zoom school, now is the perfect time to consider homeschooling.

00:32:04.000 Homeschool Magnet supports homeschooling families by providing students with instruction from world-class credentialed teachers in a remote classroom with their peers.

00:32:10.600 Each student receives quality instruction in the four core subject areas of math, English, science, and social studies.

00:32:17.700 Parents ultimately have the freedom to involve their students in as much or as little learning as they prefer based on their students, on, you know, their child's goals.

00:32:27.220 So that's a big part of homeschooling.

00:32:29.300 As a homeschool family, ourselves, this is what we love about homeschooling is that it gives us the power.

00:32:36.440 It's not a cookie-cutter situation.

00:32:38.140 You're not handing your kids over to the government and letting them decide it.

00:32:42.200 And Homeschool Magnet is all about that as well.

00:32:43.760 Homeschool Magnet is only a fraction of the cost of private schools, and the money-back guarantee upon enrollment means this choice is risk-free.

00:32:49.580 With discounted prepay or simple monthly payments, Homeschool Magnet has an option to fit your needs.

00:32:54.560 So save 10% for every child when you use promo code Walsh when you enroll.

00:32:59.120 To learn more about Homeschool Magnet and enroll in the spring 2021 semester, go to homeschoolmagnet.com today and use Walsh when you enroll.

00:33:07.200 Also, you know, there's a reason why the media creates narratives about conservatives, and it gets away with those narratives.

00:33:14.960 In fact, those narratives are adopted into the culture.

00:33:18.380 People start believing those narratives, and the reason is that they shape the content we consume.

00:33:22.580 They control the entertainment.

00:33:24.620 For a long time, conservatives have ceded creative ground to the left, and it's resulted in a culture that dictates political correctness over freedom of thought and dictates a lot more besides that.

00:33:32.900 So we're pushing back against cultural blacklisting.

00:33:35.240 On Friday, January 15th, Daily Wire is releasing its first feature film.

00:33:38.820 Run, Hide, Fight is exclusively going to be released to Daily Wire members.

00:33:42.780 Run, Hide, Fight isn't a political film, but it is intense.

00:33:46.080 It's got a powerful message.

00:33:47.500 The movie follows a high school siege by a quartet of school shooters when one young girl, 17-year-old Zoe Hall, uses her wits and survival skills to fight back.

00:33:55.860 Here's the trailer.

00:34:01.040 In between breaths, take the shot.

00:34:05.740 You're doing really good out there, kid.

00:34:07.800 Besides that deer, we're going to be eating venison all summer.

00:34:10.100 All the days work.

00:34:12.780 I think we need to see somebody again.

00:34:14.220 And by we, you mean me?

00:34:15.420 No, I mean us.

00:34:16.540 Hey, that look in your eye.

00:34:18.440 Guy's in my unit at that local.

00:34:19.780 Maybe there's a grocery you can hand me so I can go?

00:34:30.240 Is that Chris Jellick over there?

00:34:32.020 Is he doing something completely weird?

00:34:33.980 Senior prank day. 0.99

00:34:34.860 But we'll see all kinds of dumb stuff today. 0.83

00:34:36.580 Swim captain will have Thai food delivered to class, 0.90

00:34:39.240 and Becky Vaughn will set up her homemade slip and slide.

00:34:41.460 This is high school.

00:34:42.800 Nothing that happens here matters in the real world.

00:34:44.840 Okay, we are in charge now, so please pull out whichever app you use to do live streaming video.

00:34:57.040 Get them up and running and point it at me.

00:34:58.660 Now!

00:35:01.660 Get down on the ground! 0.75

00:35:03.280 Any more friends back there?

00:35:04.340 I'm calling 9-1-1.

00:35:12.560 Get back to your homeroom and stay put until...

00:35:15.340 9-1-1, what's your emergency?

00:35:25.240 You must be close. 1.00

00:35:26.480 You should be a shit! 1.00

00:35:36.100 Very disturbing news out of Vernon Central High School. 1.00

00:35:41.220 Zoe! 0.96

00:35:46.420 In between breath, take a shot.

00:35:54.100 Go! 0.95

00:35:54.620 Is it safe to say that this might be our guardian angel?

00:35:58.120 Do you want more people to die?

00:35:59.660 That's the last thing I want. 1.00

00:36:00.860 I'm going to kill one person in this room every five minutes. 1.00

00:36:04.080 You don't show your face. 1.00

00:36:16.320 Isn't it ironic that after all your hard work,

00:36:21.840 people aren't going to remember you?

00:36:24.620 No.

00:36:28.860 No?

00:36:30.080 You're going to remember me.

00:36:33.860 So to mark the release, we'll be doing a live stream premiere

00:36:36.700 the night before on Thursday, January 14th,

00:36:39.400 during a special episode of Backstage featuring Jeremy Boring, Ben Shapiro, and special guests.

00:36:43.640 Come join us as we put the culture back on our own terms.

00:36:47.660 Now let's get to our daily cancellation.

00:36:49.440 Today we're going to cancel Ethan Thomas, who's a former NBA player, now identifies as a, quote,

00:36:57.940 poet, activist, and motivational speaker, which is also what I have on my own resume, incidentally.

00:37:03.420 That's how I describe myself.

00:37:04.700 Thomas is being canceled for this article published in The Guardian with this headline.

00:37:09.800 NBA players weren't surprised by D.C.

00:37:12.200 We live with white supremacy every day.

00:37:15.540 Now to be fair to Ethan Thomas, he's not the only one claiming that the invasion of the Capitol building was somehow a racist act.

00:37:22.160 That's become a common talking point on the left because, of course, everything is racist to them.

00:37:26.240 They would say it was racist when those same people got up in the morning and ate a muffin at the continental breakfast in their hotel.

00:37:32.740 It was a racist breakfast.

00:37:34.580 When they took a shower, it was a racist shower.

00:37:37.940 They put on their shoes. 0.94

00:37:39.060 They're putting on racist shoes. 0.62

00:37:41.280 Everything's racist. 0.89

00:37:41.960 Everything they do is racist.

00:37:42.840 So, of course, this was racist, too.

00:37:45.100 But there's also a lot of other great stuff in this article.

00:37:47.240 So let's go through it.

00:37:48.280 It says, quote,

00:38:18.280 This is completely false all the way through on every level.

00:38:21.720 Everything about this is false.

00:38:23.260 This is what we're up against.

00:38:24.480 It's why it can be hard to argue with the left, because the lies pile up so quickly and so numerously that you don't even know where to begin.

00:38:30.800 This is just the first paragraph.

00:38:32.460 Already he's lied by saying the BLM riots were peaceful protests.

00:38:35.680 They weren't.

00:38:36.460 A good rule of thumb here is that a protest is not peaceful if buildings are in ashes at the conclusion of it and if people are dead on the ground.

00:38:44.240 That's really good evidence.

00:38:45.420 When you walk into a scene after the so-called protest has concluded and you look around and you see broken bottles and bricks thrown all over the place and smoldering buildings and dead people, pretty good evidence that what just happened was not a peaceful protest.

00:39:02.120 And also, it's not true that the right has been silent about what happened in D.C.

00:39:08.540 In fact, everybody on the right has denounced the Capitol siege.

00:39:13.100 Every Republican, every single one.

00:39:15.280 I cannot think of one Republican who has not denounced it.

00:39:19.280 On the other hand, I can't think of one Democrat who has denounced the BLM riots.

00:39:24.960 Make of that what you will.

00:39:27.200 Let's continue.

00:39:27.760 Skipping ahead a little bit, it says,

00:39:29.020 And yet the reaction of large parts of middle America was shock that white supremacists could invade the heart of U.S. democracy largely undisturbed, strolling through the Capitol like it was their own private kingdom.

00:39:40.360 Again, the lies are oozing thickly from every word. 0.97

00:39:43.600 First, white supremacists?

00:39:45.320 Where's the evidence of that?

00:39:47.040 Also, undisturbed?

00:39:49.840 They killed one of them.

00:39:51.140 One of the undisturbed rioters is dead.

00:39:55.940 And the entire federal government is on the case and determined to arrest and prosecute all the rest of them.

00:40:00.660 So, this is all untrue.

00:40:02.080 Continuing.

00:40:03.640 But none of this came as a surprise to NBA players, 80% of whom are black, and see the effects of white supremacy every day.

00:40:11.140 Okay, I got to take another pause here.

00:40:12.640 You know, as the kids say, I can't even.

00:40:15.600 I just can't.

00:40:16.500 I can't even with this.

00:40:17.500 Because now he is presenting NBA players as an especially aggrieved group that lives with the effect of white supremacy every day.

00:40:25.800 What are those effects?

00:40:27.300 The average salary of an NBA player, average, is $8 million.

00:40:31.300 Almost $7.7 million.

00:40:32.500 Okay?

00:40:33.340 A few shy of $8 million.

00:40:35.560 That's just the average.

00:40:36.840 Many are making hundreds of millions.

00:40:38.980 Is this the effect of white supremacy that you're talking about?

00:40:41.920 If so, I wish I could get some of those effects.

00:40:44.820 If this is the oppression, then sign me up for it.

00:40:49.700 But maybe Thomas will make a reasonable case.

00:40:51.500 Maybe he'll explain how exactly NBA players are victims.

00:40:54.480 Not just victims, but special victims.

00:40:56.180 They're especially, of all people, you know, the ones who have seen white supremacy.

00:41:00.860 Perhaps Thomas will prove his point.

00:41:02.340 We'll find out.

00:41:03.100 Going back to the article, he quotes from other NBA players and coaches.

00:41:05.620 And then finally it says,

00:41:06.440 And that's it.

00:41:31.180 He never bothers to explain or defend or provide evidence for any of the claims he makes here.

00:41:36.260 We're supposed to just believe that NBA players witness white privilege every day.

00:41:40.460 Don't worry about the details.

00:41:41.600 Just go with it.

00:41:42.440 When a filthy rich NBA star, famous, beloved, celebrated, gets up from his $30,000 couch and walks over and peers out the window of his 12-bedroom mansion and sees on the other side of his iron rod gate a white family drive by in a used minivan on their way to buy groceries at the Walmart Supercenter,

00:42:02.800 he, the NBA star, is offended by their incredible privilege.

00:42:08.020 If only he could have the privilege to be middle class, forgotten, and despised by millionaires like himself.

00:42:15.880 Yes, they are the privileged ones.

00:42:17.680 They are victimizing him somehow.

00:42:20.640 Don't worry about how.

00:42:22.300 It's racist to ask for details.

00:42:25.120 So, I won't.

00:42:26.440 I won't ask for details.

00:42:28.040 Instead, I'll just say,

00:42:29.760 You're canceled.

00:42:31.520 You are canceled.

00:42:33.000 Forever and always.

00:42:34.840 And on that note, we will leave it there for the weekend.

00:42:39.100 Everyone, what I would recommend is just take a break.

00:42:41.400 That's what I'm going to try to do this weekend.

00:42:42.760 Take a break from the news, from social media.

00:42:46.360 Go hide in a cave somewhere.

00:42:48.360 Hide in a cave.

00:42:48.880 Actually, I would recommend hide in a cave and never come out.

00:42:51.360 That's what I'm considering.

00:42:53.060 I'll see if I can still do the podcast from the cave, but we'll find out.

00:42:55.780 Anyway, have a great weekend.

00:42:58.020 Talk to you next week.
