00:04:03.360 But Columbus survived the first voyage and discovered a whole part of the globe

00:04:13.260 And this is when the modern losers again chime in with one of the two or three bits of information

00:05:41.620 The point with Columbus is that he was one of the men, one of the primary men,

00:06:45.780 See, a certain type of man was needed to navigate a fleet of ships

00:06:51.960 A different kind of man was needed to manage settlements.

00:06:57.640 But the thing is, back in those days,

00:06:59.560 if you were a captain of one of these ships,

00:07:01.420 you had to be everything.

00:07:05.080 You had to be an expert in every conceivable area.

00:07:13.560 the ones that were actually good at managing settlements,

00:07:15.580 they had no way of getting to the settlement

00:07:17.360 except by hitching a ride with the former type.

00:07:57.240 to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous People's Day

00:07:59.580 so incredibly ridiculous.

00:08:02.220 And that's a push that's almost succeeded.

00:08:03.840 In fact, Joe Biden on Friday

00:08:05.060 became the first president in history

00:08:07.620 to issue an Indigenous People's Day proclamation,

00:08:10.240 officially acknowledging the holiday

00:08:11.660 that is meant to replace,

00:08:13.260 not only replace, but be an apology for,

00:08:16.440 Columbus Day.

00:08:17.900 But the problem should be obvious

00:08:19.620 to anybody with an above room temperature IQ,

00:08:22.740 which means that it's not obvious

00:08:24.260 to very many people these days.

00:08:27.060 If we cannot celebrate Columbus Day

00:08:28.940 because the European explorers and settlers

00:08:31.380 practiced conquest and slavery,

00:08:33.640 how can we celebrate Indigenous People's Day

00:08:36.120 seeing how Indigenous people practice

00:08:38.780 an even more ruthless form of conquest and slavery?

00:08:42.820 Despite what you may have heard,

00:08:45.040 Europeans did not introduce these forms of brutality

00:08:47.960 to these shores.

00:08:50.020 The Indian tribes had already discovered them

00:08:52.440 for themselves and often took it several steps farther.

00:08:55.640 For example, the most powerful tribes

00:08:57.200 in Mesoamerica would take slaves

00:08:59.280 and then add the extra step

00:09:00.640 of cutting their beating hearts out of their chests

00:09:02.560 and sometimes consuming their carcasses.

00:09:05.680 Not all tribes had human sacrifice,

00:09:07.700 but they all lived by the law of conquest.

00:09:10.220 If you wanted land, you took it.

00:09:11.860 If you wanted to keep it, you had to defend it.

00:09:13.700 If you couldn't defend it,

00:09:14.900 your land would be conquered.

00:09:17.280 And among Indians, it also meant

00:09:18.780 that part of conquering land,
