The Matt Walsh Show - Ep. 974 - The Appropriation And Degradation Of Womanhood

00:00:00.060 Today on the Matt Wall Show, the mayor of New York City is the latest high-profile Democrat to come out in favor of drag queens at school.

00:00:06.500 We've talked about how it's harmful to kids to involve them in drag events, but today I want to discuss how drag attacks and demeans womanhood.

00:00:11.900 Also, the CDC issues guidance for how to have sex while infected with monkeypox, if that's something you want to do.

00:00:17.760 Nancy Pelosi again proclaims herself a devout Catholic while shilling for abortion.

00:00:21.500 A Hollywood actress explains why she chose surrogacy, and her explanation perfectly illustrates the problems with surrogacy.

00:00:27.020 In our daily cancellation, a dog food company encourages millennials to become, quote, pet parents instead of real parents.

00:00:33.100 We'll talk about all that and more today on the Matt Wall Show.

00:00:44.880 Well, we know that we are, we assume, probably just days away from Roe v. Wade becoming a thing of the past.

00:00:51.440 And you may think that that means the fight is coming to an end over abortion.

00:00:55.400 But abortion legislation returning to the states just means that the real battle is really only just beginning.

00:00:59.900 There is no group in America better positioned than 40 Days for Life to help fight that battle, just as they've been fighting the battle now for decades.

00:01:07.440 40 Days for Life has one million volunteers throughout the country holding peaceful vigils outside abortion facilities.

00:01:12.740 You may be surprised to hear that.

00:01:14.060 Their largest presence is actually in the states where they're needed the most.

00:01:17.120 That would be the country's blue states, with California being their biggest state.

00:01:20.460 Their vigils have closed many abortion facilities in America, and nearly half of those facilities were in liberal states where abortion will continue to remain legal after the fall of Roe.

00:01:28.740 From San Francisco to Chicago to Seattle, which are hardly pro-life areas, obviously, volunteers have guided abortion workers to have a change of heart and quit their job.

00:01:36.780 So as this issue gets out of D.C., 40 Days for Life is effectively changing hearts and minds in the grassroots of the pro-abortion movement.

00:01:44.080 Check out their locations, their podcasts, and their new book, What to Say When, the complete new guide to discussing abortion at 40daysforlife.com.

00:01:52.500 There was a period of time which lasted about 45 seconds, it turns out, when it seemed that the new mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, might be a relatively normal, decent, rational, competent human being.

00:02:04.820 But that was all an illusion, of course.

00:02:06.800 Those sorts of people simply cannot be elected in the modern Democrat Party.

00:02:11.080 They are non-viable candidates, particularly in a place like New York.

00:02:14.300 So after impressing us during the campaign by saying some provocative things, arguing, for example, that criminals should actually go to prison sometimes, you know, things like that, really controversial, it's no surprise that Adams has long since surrendered to leftist insanity.

00:02:27.820 In that vein, Adams tweeted yesterday afternoon, this is what he tweeted, he said,

00:02:30.980 To be absolutely clear here, Eric Adams, the mayor of America's largest city,

00:03:00.040 is arguing that we must have cross-dressing men in school for the sake of diversity, personal expression, emotional intelligence, and literacy.

00:03:10.500 Indeed, our children will be illiterate if they're not taught to read by men in dresses. 0.93

00:03:16.260 That's why no child in America has ever learned to read up until this point.

00:03:20.380 None of us know how to read.

00:03:21.520 We're all illiterate.

00:03:23.620 You know, I don't know if you knew that.

00:03:24.780 Because we all suffered from a severe lack of drag queens growing up. 1.00

00:03:28.020 After all, nobody ever even considered putting drag queens in school up until about 12 minutes ago. 0.88

00:03:34.560 It was never discussed.

00:03:35.520 It was never imagined.

00:03:36.820 It was never considered an option.

00:03:38.880 It was not a debate anybody was having when I was in school.

00:03:41.340 Nobody was debating this.

00:03:43.360 Nobody was saying, you know, maybe we should include some drag queens in this whole thing, this whole deal here. 1.00

00:03:47.180 Nobody said that.

00:03:48.480 But now in the last 12 minutes, the left has declared that it is not only an acceptable option,

00:03:52.880 but that it is, in fact, necessary, it is crucial to a child's development,

00:03:58.340 that he be frequently exposed to men with cross-dressing fetishes. 0.55

00:04:02.660 That is the actual official position of the Democrat Party at this point.

00:04:06.700 It's not just being advanced far out on the fringes by groomers and pedophiles.

00:04:10.240 It's now being advanced in the mainstream, though still by groomers and pedophiles.

00:04:15.020 Notice, again, the flight path of progressivism.

00:04:19.300 It always follows the same course.

00:04:21.220 First, they, you know, whenever something comes up, some new brand of degeneracy,

00:04:27.420 first they deny that it's happening at all.

00:04:29.840 In this case, they denied that anybody wanted kids to be around drag queens.

00:04:33.400 And then they admit that it's happening, but they say it's rare and it's not really a big deal.

00:04:38.380 And then they admit that it's happening all over the place, but they argue that actually it's good.

00:04:42.440 And now for the final stage, they say that the thing they used to say isn't happening at all

00:04:46.540 is actually happening and happening a lot and should happen and needs to happen and should be mandatory.

00:04:52.960 This evolution from not happening to mandatory doesn't take very long at all.

00:04:58.460 Sometimes the plant will grow to full bloom in the space of a week or even a day.

00:05:03.400 Meanwhile, a video is going viral today of one drag queen out in the drag wilderness

00:05:08.480 crying out against this madness.

00:05:11.040 Here, this unnamed drag queen from a video, I think this is about a year ago,

00:05:15.720 scolds parents who bring their kids to drag events, the events that he performs at,

00:05:20.520 and confirms that drag shows are inherently sexual, both on stage and behind the scenes.

00:05:26.260 Listen.

00:05:26.380 What in the hell has a drag queen ever done to make you have so much respect for them and admire them so much 1.00

00:05:35.360 other than put on makeup and jump on the floor and writhe around and do sexual things on stage? 0.97

00:05:42.200 I have absolutely no idea why you would want that to influence your child. 0.93

00:05:49.180 Would you want a stripper or a porn star to influence your child? 1.00

00:05:53.520 It makes no sense at all. 0.51

00:05:56.420 A drag queen performs in a nightclub for adults.

00:06:00.920 There is a lot of filth that goes on, a lot of sexual stuff that goes on. 0.91

00:06:06.900 And backstage, there's a lot of nudity, sex, and drugs. 0.90

00:06:12.260 Okay?

00:06:12.880 So I don't think that this is an avenue you would want your child to explore.

00:06:18.940 Yeah, that's a good point.

00:06:23.080 You know, it's good to have at least one person in the drag world confirm what should be obvious, 0.99

00:06:28.360 but really we don't need them to confirm it.

00:06:29.920 You need only watch a few seconds of footage to understand what's going on.

00:06:32.740 For example, the latest clip posted by Libs of TikTok shows a drag event attended by at least one very young child

00:06:39.560 and featuring a half-naked man with fake rubber breasts dancing around while the audience hands him dollar bills.

00:06:47.240 Here's that. 0.93

00:06:48.940 Feeling like a woman. 0.91

00:07:08.060 And that appeared to be the child's grandmother.

00:07:13.460 The child was sitting on her grandmother's lap.

00:07:17.740 My grandmother, if she had encountered an event like this, she would have called an exorcist.

00:07:24.520 She would have called the police and an exorcist. 1.00

00:07:27.620 Your grandmother?

00:07:31.140 What chance does that poor kid have? 0.97

00:07:32.740 You have multiple generations of degenerate groomers raising you. 0.93

00:07:38.080 My God.

00:07:40.640 Now, we've already said plenty about how this affects kids who are exposed to it,

00:07:44.000 how this is all part of the left's overarching effort to corrupt and sexualize the youngest generation.

00:07:48.100 We'll say plenty more about that in the future, I'm sure, as the groomers continue to ramp up their war against our nation's children.

00:07:54.040 I give it less than two years at this point until elected Democrats are explicitly arguing in favor of decriminalizing pedophilia.

00:08:01.980 They're already arguing for that in effect in certain ways, but it'll be explicit in the next two years.

00:08:09.040 They're not going to call it pedophilia, of course.

00:08:10.420 They'll use a different term like minor attracted person or else probably they'll come up with something new.

00:08:15.180 But we are very close to that threshold being officially crossed, and we inch closer every day.

00:08:23.360 That's why the battle to protect our children's souls and minds and innocence is central in the overall culture war.

00:08:30.980 But what I want to focus on today for a few moments at least is something else, not entirely unrelated.

00:08:35.300 Because while all of this represents a war on children, it also represents a war on womanhood. 0.92

00:08:43.580 As I've argued in the past, drag is female blackface. 0.99

00:08:47.920 That's what it is.

00:08:48.560 Drag shows are essentially modern-day minstrel shows where men dress as hyper-sexualized cartoon versions of women, 0.99

00:08:55.920 and they dance around for the vulgar amusement of the crowd.

00:08:59.140 Now, put to the side just for a second the most shocking and disgusting aspect of the video that I just played,

00:09:05.640 namely the fact that a toddler was in attendance.

00:09:08.460 Even if there was no child there, what does it say about drag and about the left generally

00:09:12.520 that it's considered wholesome and worthwhile entertainment to watch a man in a skimpy skirt with absurd amounts of makeup 0.96

00:09:18.920 bouncing around the room with enormous fake rubber breasts? 1.00

00:09:22.920 If there's any entertainment value in such a bizarre spectacle, though I don't see any value in it at all, 0.98

00:09:28.060 entertainment or otherwise, it would be in the, I guess, macabre humor of watching a man make an over-sexualized mockery of womanhood.

00:09:37.660 The potential comparisons are obvious here.

00:09:39.940 Imagine the same sort of scene, except that it's a white man in an Indian headdress 0.99

00:09:46.320 dancing and whooping around while onlookers laugh and clap.

00:09:50.200 Just imagine that.

00:09:51.760 Or a white man in blackface, or a white woman in a fake afro lip-syncing a Whitney Houston song.

00:09:58.660 In fact, that doesn't even need to be done for laughs.

00:10:01.360 We've seen white people get canceled simply for wearing dreadlocks or opening Chinese food restaurants.

00:10:07.800 No intent to mock or satirize in that case, and still it's somehow considered dehumanizing and degrading

00:10:14.260 to the groups of people who've allegedly had their identities appropriated, quote-unquote.

00:10:18.300 But in the case of drag, the whole point of the exercise is for men to appropriate womanhood.

00:10:25.740 That's what people are paying to see.

00:10:27.580 That's what groomers are taking their children to see.

00:10:30.520 Femininity turned into a circus act. 1.00

00:10:33.180 Womanhood as a carnival sideshow. 1.00

00:10:36.980 Now, there's no surprise.

00:10:37.960 Womanhood is commandeered, objectified, parodied in many ways in our culture, 0.77

00:10:42.080 and quite often this happens.

00:10:44.820 The left has never met a form of female appropriation that they don't want to celebrate.

00:10:51.100 The dirty little secret about that side, the left, is that they hate women, 0.50

00:10:56.040 and they actually hate women even more than they hate men, I've realized. 0.98

00:11:00.720 And they hate men quite a bit.

00:11:02.840 So this is saying something. 0.50

00:11:04.080 Now, they call masculinity toxic, but they actually idolize it.

00:11:09.860 They're jealous of it.

00:11:10.800 They're envious.

00:11:12.140 That's why they want all these female action heroes. 1.00

00:11:15.820 They want females in the military. 1.00

00:11:17.680 They want us to celebrate women who become tough corporate bosses and CEOs and so forth. 0.97

00:11:24.060 But femininity, they have no use for at all. 1.00

00:11:26.840 It's a thing to be performed and laughed and gawked at. 0.98

00:11:29.940 They chop the breasts off of girls and put rubber breasts on grown men. 0.99

00:11:34.780 People are like potato head dolls to them. 0.96

00:11:36.860 Swap one part for another.

00:11:38.060 It's all the same as far as they're concerned.

00:11:39.840 They see human beings in general in this light.

00:11:41.940 But their assault on womanhood takes oftentimes, I think, 0.62

00:11:46.060 a different kind of form from their assault on manhood.

00:11:50.540 Womanhood is made into a fetish or a joke or a performance. 1.00

00:11:58.100 Often all three at once. 0.58

00:12:00.540 That's what drag is.

00:12:02.260 Womanhood as fetish, joke, and performance. 1.00

00:12:06.180 Womanhood appropriated, degraded. 1.00

00:12:09.400 Made into something ridiculous and ugly. 0.97

00:12:13.200 And this, I think, is a point that we need to start making more often. 0.90

00:12:18.100 Now let's get to our five headlines.

00:12:19.480 Well, fear of out-of-control inflation is hammering the stock market.

00:12:30.080 The S&P 500 is having its worst start to the year since World War II.

00:12:33.220 So not only are your savings worth less, you now have less of it on top of it, insult to injury.

00:13:04.780 Tesla is down 40%.

00:13:05.920 And cryptos have been slammed.

00:13:08.400 Plus, many fear the hawkish moves by the Fed could stall the economy.

00:13:11.400 So what's your plan?

00:13:12.540 Text Walsh to 989898 and get your free, no-obligation info kit on gold from Birch Gold.

00:13:26.620 All right, the Daily Mail reports that the CDC has issued bizarre guidance telling Americans infected with monkeypox to have sex by masturbating at least six feet away from their partner, among other recommendations. 0.74

00:13:41.420 Now, this is guidance from the CDC.

00:13:44.380 It says anyone who has the disease must not have sex, but for those who ignore the advice, the agency has published a list of the do's and don'ts under the bedsheets.

00:13:54.820 Among its tips was also to have sex while still fully clothed to ensure all rashes are covered and even to avoid kissing.

00:14:03.140 Other advice was to wash your hands, wash hands, fetish gear, and clothing immediately afterwards, and even to consider having sex virtually, such as over the phone.

00:14:11.280 So this is, okay, so we have, from the CDC, they published this chart here, which you can see, and then they give all the options with helpful illustrations in case you weren't sure what that would look like. 0.95

00:14:20.940 And then they say, yep, try virtual sex, masturbate six feet apart. 0.94

00:14:25.000 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are giving advice on masturbation. 0.99

00:14:33.280 Make sure to wash afterwards, they say. 0.86

00:14:35.520 Avoid kissing.

00:14:36.320 Wear clothing during the sexual act.

00:14:39.180 And cover your rashes.

00:14:40.600 So this is, you know, that's a good way to put somebody in the mood, I guess, is just say, hey, you know, I'm covered in monkeypox lesions.

00:14:50.140 And so, you know, we could still have sex, I'll just, let's just keep our clothes on, is what the CDC is suggesting.

00:14:58.460 How much, you know, the self-control that you would have to lack, that you can't even abstain while you are covered in monkeypox rashes.

00:15:11.680 But you have zero self-control.

00:15:13.740 But this is also how the government sees us.

00:15:18.280 That's how the CDC sees us.

00:15:20.940 They see us as like, as animals.

00:15:23.880 We might as well be monkeys to them with the monkeypox.

00:15:26.760 They see us as animals that cannot be expected.

00:15:29.200 Because obviously, the right advice here that you shouldn't even need to tell anybody is that if you have, if you have something called monkeypox, like I don't even need to know anything about monkeypox.

00:15:40.560 You tell me that someone has monkeypox, I already know.

00:15:42.620 Yeah, you probably should not be having sexual relations with anybody until this issue is cleared up.

00:15:46.900 And after it's cleared up, maybe wait another like month or something. 0.96

00:15:50.140 But rather than just say, okay, you have monkeypox.

00:15:58.500 You're covered in rashes and legions.

00:16:01.140 Your skin is breaking out into hives and everything. 0.93

00:16:03.960 Rather than just say, don't have sex at all.

00:16:06.360 They've just decided that people aren't capable of that.

00:16:11.440 So instead, here are some ways to do it that will mitigate your risk slightly. 0.95

00:16:17.180 If you can somehow find someone who will have sex with you while you're covered in monkeypox, legions. 0.95

00:16:21.600 They really do. 0.96

00:16:25.100 This is, we're living in a brave new world.

00:16:30.000 And the government sees us as these animals driven entirely by compulsion.

00:16:35.940 Who have to be controlled and muzzled as we saw for two years with the masks. 0.98

00:16:44.860 Cannot be trusted or expected to exercise any kind of self-control or any sort of judgment whatsoever.

00:16:54.160 This is how we're seen.

00:16:55.260 And the really, and the even sadder part of that is that many people, in fact, live down to that impression that the government has of them.

00:17:05.740 Because it is a self-perpetuating prophecy in a lot of ways.

00:17:10.980 And intentionally so.

00:17:12.880 All right, let's move to this.

00:17:13.840 Nancy Pelosi was asked a very good question.

00:17:16.760 Doesn't happen very often from the media.

00:17:18.220 But I suspect the person who asked this question, I don't know who it is.

00:17:22.520 I'm sure that information is available.

00:17:23.820 But I suspect this was not somebody in corporate media.

00:17:26.980 But she was asked, does she agree, as a devout Catholic, she claims, does she agree with the Pope, all Popes actually.

00:17:35.080 But specifically the current Pope and Pope John Paul II, that abortion is murder. 0.94

00:17:39.980 Does she agree with that as a quote unquote devout Catholic?

00:17:43.340 Let's see what she says.

00:17:44.060 St. John Paul II said in Evangelium Vitae that abortion is murder.

00:17:49.740 And Pope Francis told the Pontifical Academy for Life that abortion is truly murder.

00:17:53.960 Do you agree with Pope Francis and Pope John Paul II that abortion is murder? 0.61

00:17:58.500 What I agree on is that whatever I believe or agree with the Pope's on is not necessarily what public policy should be in the United States.

00:18:07.880 As people make their own judgments, honor their own responsibilities.

00:18:12.180 And attend to the needs of their families.

00:18:18.180 Next.

00:18:18.520 My speaker, actually, as far as the abortion case is concerned, there has been a number of attacks on churches, on crisis pregnancy centers.

00:18:30.240 Republicans are going out for Democrats for not saying anything, and they're saying that that's irreverent is contributing to these attacks on this crisis.

00:18:38.660 Well, let me just say this.

00:18:40.280 A woman has a woman has a right to choose, to live up to her responsibility, it's up to her, her doctor, her family, her husband, her significant other, and her God.

00:18:53.240 This talk of politicizing all of this, I think, is something uniquely American and not right.

00:19:02.040 Other countries, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, have had legislative initiatives to expand the woman's right to choose. 0.96

00:19:12.540 Very Catholic countries.

00:19:14.240 I'm a very Catholic person, and I believe in every woman's right to make her own decisions.

00:19:21.420 Very Catholic.

00:19:24.340 She's very Catholic.

00:19:26.240 And, you know, you notice she doesn't actually say that she disagrees with the Pope on this.

00:19:31.500 And to be clear, by the way, we talk about do you agree with the Pope about abortion being murder?

00:19:38.440 It's not just, from a Catholic perspective, if you're actually a Catholic, it's not just that the Popes have, you know, given their own personal opinion about the fact that abortion is murder.

00:19:49.740 This is the official teaching of the Catholic Church, and it's a teaching that you cannot reject without rejecting the Church itself.

00:20:03.240 Because, as I've tried to explain, if you reject a fundamental moral teaching of the Church, then you're saying that the Church is wrong about fundamental moral facts of life.

00:20:15.360 And you're rejecting the moral authority of the Church.

00:20:17.200 If you reject the moral authority of the Church, then in what sense are you Catholic?

00:20:22.660 Not in any sense at all.

00:20:26.040 And this is the same, by the way, for any religion.

00:20:29.060 If you claim to be a part of a certain religion, but then you say that you disagree with the fundamental teachings of that religion, then by definition you are not of that religion.

00:20:38.560 That might be a mask you like to wear.

00:20:41.560 It might be a banner you like to march under.

00:20:43.280 It might be something that you like to perform in front of a crowd for political reasons, but it's not a faith that you actually hold within yourself.

00:20:52.060 What I would like to hear someone ask Nancy Pelosi is, rather than do you agree or disagree with the Popes on this, how about, here's maybe the way that I would phrase it.

00:21:06.120 And there's really no way to phrase the question that will stop someone like Nancy Pelosi from just wiggling her way out of it and dancing around it because she has no integrity or anything like that. 0.90

00:21:17.500 So when you're talking to somebody with no integrity, there's really no way, it's like wrestling a giant slug or something.

00:21:24.640 There's no way to get your hands around the argument because nothing they say means anything and they can contradict themselves within the same sentence.

00:21:33.540 But the question I would ask is, do you believe that God recognizes a woman's right to kill her unborn child?

00:21:48.060 I think that's probably how I would phrase it.

00:21:50.920 Because you could say all you want, well, women have that right. 1.00

00:21:53.160 And you could get around it by claiming that technically, according to the law as it's written right now, they have, quote, the legal right.

00:22:04.820 As in, it's something that the law, as invented by human beings, says that they're allowed to do.

00:22:13.200 But is this a, another way of putting it, is this a natural, is this a part of natural law?

00:22:17.340 Is this a natural human right to kill your unborn child?

00:22:23.160 Is that something that God would recognize?

00:22:28.180 Another way of phrasing the question, when God creates a human being and puts that human being in the womb of a mother,

00:22:40.500 does God want that human being to be born?

00:22:43.680 Or did he create the human being in the womb of his mother with the intention and hope that the child would be dismembered and thrown into a dumpster?

00:22:56.640 What do you think about that?

00:22:59.220 Again, no way to phrase the question that will actually make them say anything honest, but that is one way of putting it.

00:23:04.780 All right, this is from the Washington Times.

00:23:06.360 It says, Republican senators are heading off any attempts by their colleagues to include language requiring women to register for the draft in the annual defense policy bill.

00:23:15.280 In a letter Wednesday to Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Jack Reed,

00:23:19.000 11 lawmakers led by Senator Josh Hawley warned of solid opposition to force American women to register for the military draft.

00:23:25.480 It says, quote, women have served in and alongside the armed forces since our nation's founding lawmakers wrote,

00:23:31.780 while American men are required to register for the military draft and fight if needed,

00:23:34.780 these requirements have never been applied to American women where they have fought, they have done so freely.

00:23:40.260 This approach to serve our nation well and it retains broad bipartisan support.

00:23:44.680 And a bunch of Republicans signed the letter.

00:23:48.940 Just trying to head off at the pass, any attempt to put to, you know, officially require women to sign up for the draft. 0.97

00:23:55.200 Now, you know, this is one where you have to be careful because there there are people on the right.

00:24:02.260 And this this seems to me just anecdotally to be to be a position on the right that's gaining some steam and becoming kind of popular.

00:24:10.820 And that position is that, hey, OK, yeah, just sign sign women up for the draft, too, because we're told that men and women are the same.

00:24:18.300 This is all the feminist stuff, girl power. 1.00

00:24:21.640 And, hey, this is what you guys say, feminists, that everyone is exactly the same, exactly equal. 1.00

00:24:26.860 There are no differences.

00:24:28.080 Women can do everything that men can do. 1.00

00:24:29.840 All of that.

00:24:32.720 Well, then you should have the exact same responsibilities.

00:24:34.940 And under that way of thinking, there's no reason at all to exempt women from the draft. 0.97

00:24:44.420 So it's kind of a, hey, you made your bed.

00:24:47.080 Now you have to lay in it approach.

00:24:49.380 So there are a lot of people on the right that are saying that.

00:24:51.460 That's not my view for a few reasons.

00:24:56.080 Number one is that, yeah, you could say that to feminists and to the left and all of that. 1.00

00:25:02.040 But my own daughter is not a feminist and she's not on the left. 1.00

00:25:06.920 And God willing, if I raise her right, she never will be.

00:25:10.400 So this is not now if there was a law saying that left wing feminists, so men and left wing feminists are eligible for the draft. 0.97

00:25:18.380 Then maybe we have something to talk about, but that's not what we're talking about.

00:25:22.680 So you're talking about punishing all women and all of our daughters in order to what?

00:25:26.680 Send a message to feminists? 1.00

00:25:34.000 Many of whom, by the way, people on the left, left wing feminists, especially people, the feminists in academia and they're coming up with all these theories and everything. 0.99

00:25:45.780 They're not going to be actually drafted into any war.

00:25:52.740 As we know, the draft, you know, this actually only affects, in reality, poor people and middle class people.

00:26:01.000 So a lot of the feminists and people on the left who you're trying to stick it to here, it's not actually going to affect them. 1.00

00:26:09.920 It's your own children, your own daughters, that are going to have to pay the price.

00:26:15.360 So that's my first problem with that and why I could never support drafting women. 1.00

00:26:19.920 And then the other reason, too, is that even if I didn't have daughters of my own, we just cannot be a society.

00:26:27.840 We can't be a country.

00:26:29.000 We can't be a civilization that drafts our daughters into combat. 0.98

00:26:32.940 That sends our daughters against their will to go fight our wars and die. 1.00

00:26:39.600 That's just, once we become that, and if we all accept it, then that's just the end, basically.

00:26:47.940 That's the end of our civilization, as we know it.

00:26:51.800 We've just kind of given up.

00:26:52.780 We've thrown up the white flag completely.

00:26:54.620 We get to the point, if we all just agree that, yeah, sure, whatever, just send our daughters off to fight. 0.56

00:27:04.460 Even if the draft is never actually enacted, which I suspect eventually it will be, but even if it never is, the fact that we would all be willing to do that,

00:27:14.680 if we declare our willingness, then that, to me, is just an act of total civilizational surrender that I could never be a party to.

00:27:26.200 All right, let's see what else we got here.

00:27:28.480 This is from The Daily Beast.

00:27:29.720 It says,

00:27:30.300 The office actor Rainn Wilson, who obviously played Dwight Schrute, came a bit too close to embodying his inflammatory TV character, Dwight Schrute, on Wednesday,

00:27:39.240 when he tweeted a poor attempt at a joke about transgender people.

00:27:42.320 He tweeted, quote,

00:27:44.980 TIL, you can no longer say nursing or breastfeeding mother.

00:27:48.940 You have to say chest feeding person.

00:27:51.560 Just FYI.

00:27:52.520 That was the tweet, which I guess is supposed to be, it's not even a joke.

00:27:56.200 That's just a, that's just true.

00:27:58.760 That's like what the left is trying to do.

00:28:00.280 They're trying to supplant breastfeeding with chest feeding. 1.00

00:28:05.200 So he tweeted this, and then, but then he tweeted an apology.

00:28:08.580 I think we have the, do we have the actual tweet from him?

00:28:10.220 Um, he tweeted an apology.

00:28:12.300 He said,

00:28:12.540 Yesterday I tweeted a mean crack about breastfeeding versus chest feeding.

00:28:16.420 After speaking with some trans friends and educating myself a bit more, I want to apologize for the tweet.

00:28:23.080 It was adding to misinformation and meanness.

00:28:26.360 I'm sorry.

00:28:28.380 So, of course, he immediately caves.

00:28:31.060 Again, what he originally said was not even a joke or a crack about trans people.

00:28:35.200 He was pointing out that chest feeding has become the new PC term of art, which is true.

00:28:43.900 But then he had to apologize for that because he was educated by his trans friends.

00:28:50.580 Educated about what exactly?

00:28:52.120 What did they, what did they teach you is what I want to know.

00:28:54.000 And the thing about this whole breastfeeding versus chest feeding thing is that the, it doesn't even make sense.

00:29:03.240 Okay.

00:29:03.920 Even on, even on the, the left wing premise here, it doesn't make sense.

00:29:07.800 It's exactly like the Latinx Latinx thing.

00:29:11.640 Well, we need to have Latinx because it's gender neutral. 0.99

00:29:16.100 Hispanic is already gender neutral.

00:29:18.800 You could say Latin and that's gender neutral.

00:29:21.180 So, along with all the other problems of Latinx, the first problem is that it's not by your own premise.

00:29:30.020 It's not necessary.

00:29:32.620 And it's the same thing here.

00:29:34.240 Chest and breast, these are synonyms, essentially. 0.96

00:29:39.540 Like, men have breasts. 0.87

00:29:41.700 There's a reason why men can get breast cancer. 1.00

00:29:43.760 It's rare, but men can actually get breast cancer.

00:29:45.980 It's rare because they have less breast tissue, but men have breasts.

00:29:51.500 And the words are basically used interchangeably.

00:29:55.660 So, the, it's a distinction actually without a difference in the first place.

00:30:01.620 So, when we're told by the left that, well, we need to say chest feeding instead of breastfeeding because it's more inclusive, that doesn't make any sense.

00:30:08.920 The two words are synonymous. 0.94

00:30:13.880 Now, what the left will say in response to that is, well, if they're the same, then why can't you just change it?

00:30:20.660 If it's, if it means the same thing anyway, then why not just say chest feeding instead of breastfeeding?

00:30:26.940 No, no, no.

00:30:27.600 That's not, once again, I don't have to provide that explanation to you.

00:30:32.020 No, it's, it's more like, why should we change it?

00:30:37.840 If it's basically a distinction without a difference, and the change doesn't make any sense, I don't have to explain to you why we shouldn't change it.

00:30:45.340 We've been using the term breastfeeding forever.

00:30:47.080 Everybody knows what it is.

00:30:49.860 You're the one suggesting the change.

00:30:51.860 You have to explain it.

00:30:53.020 It's not up to me.

00:30:57.940 You're proposing the change.

00:30:59.520 So, that's something that you have to defend.

00:31:02.860 Why is this necessary?

00:31:05.840 But, of course, you can't defend it.

00:31:08.320 The only defense is that, well, it makes trans people feel better. 0.99

00:31:11.800 Why does it make them feel better?

00:31:12.920 Number one.

00:31:15.480 So, we talk about breastfeeding.

00:31:18.120 That makes them feel sad.

00:31:19.580 Why?

00:31:20.360 And then the second question is, why should I care that much in the first place?

00:31:24.020 Why should we have to go through this great effort to change a term that everybody has been using forever, and that has caused no problems for anybody, and now we've got to change it because a couple trans people had their feelings hurt?

00:31:37.360 Explain that to me.

00:31:42.540 Let's see.

00:31:44.100 We've got now Rand Paul versus Dr. Fauci.

00:31:47.820 This is round, like, 50, I think.

00:31:50.820 This is kind of a long clip.

00:31:51.760 We'll play some of this, though.

00:31:52.560 So, here's Rand Paul trying to investigate the financial incentives in the vaccine push.

00:31:59.180 Let's listen to some of this.

00:32:01.480 Another question for you.

00:32:02.820 Over the period of time from 2010 to 2016, 27,000 royalty payments were paid to 1,800 NIH employees.

00:32:22.980 We know that not because you told us, but because we forced you to tell us through the Freedom of Information Act.

00:32:28.960 Over $193 million was given to these 1,800 employees.

00:32:35.420 Can you tell me that you have not received a royalty from any entity that you ever oversaw the distribution of money in research grants?

00:32:47.520 Well, first of all, let's talk about royalties.

00:32:50.500 That's the question.

00:32:51.180 No, that's the question.

00:32:52.080 Have you ever received a royalty payment from a company that you later oversaw money going to that company?

00:33:00.460 You know, I don't know is a fact, but I doubt it.

00:33:03.280 Well, here's the thing is, why don't you let us know?

00:33:06.280 Why don't you reveal how much you've gotten and from what entities?

00:33:09.860 The NIH refuses.

00:33:11.460 Look, we ask them.

00:33:12.720 We ask them.

00:33:13.380 The NIH, we ask them whether or not who got it and how much.

00:33:17.540 They refuse to tell us.

00:33:18.920 They sent it redacted.

00:33:20.740 Here's what I want to know.

00:33:21.680 It's not just about you.

00:33:23.640 Just to give you the spoiler, he doesn't answer the question, of course.

00:33:26.420 He says that, well, that's not information we have to provide and everything else.

00:33:30.980 Now, I see these.

00:33:31.860 I really, I continue to appreciate Rand Paul's efforts here.

00:33:36.880 And one of the reasons why I'd like to see him jump into the race in 2024, I hope he does.

00:33:42.940 And you also have to keep in mind that, you know, Rand Paul was doing this.

00:33:46.400 It's a little bit less politically risky now.

00:33:50.600 But he was doing this, calling Fauci to account back when Fauci was, you know, the great saint.

00:33:59.280 And on the left, he still is.

00:34:00.460 But there was a time when he was, like, celebrated across the spectrum in that way.

00:34:03.880 And Rand Paul was still doing this.

00:34:05.560 A lot of credit for that.

00:34:06.680 But every time I see videos like this, I'm also slightly frustrated because it feels kind of futile and hopeless.

00:34:14.860 To expose all of the corruption and then, okay, fine, we expose it.

00:34:24.420 You can embarrass him in these public hearings, which is great.

00:34:29.840 But what needs to happen is people need to be arrested.

00:34:32.480 There need to be actual legal consequences.

00:34:36.320 Okay?

00:34:37.140 And that's another thing in 2024.

00:34:40.020 That's what I want to hear from Republicans running for office.

00:34:42.260 They're going to find out.

00:34:46.020 They're going to get to the bottom of all the corruption related to COVID.

00:34:51.220 Related to the people who shut down the country for two years and all the damage that they caused, knowingly caused.

00:34:58.320 And they're going to find those people and they're going to arrest them.

00:35:00.260 That's what I want to hear.

00:35:01.920 All right.

00:35:02.440 One other thing here.

00:35:03.440 This is from the Daily Wire.

00:35:04.240 It says, Dexter Newblood actress Jamie Chung admitted to choosing to have children via surrogacy

00:35:09.760 because she feared getting pregnant could ruin her Hollywood career. 1.00

00:35:14.320 The 39-year-old Real World San Diego alum made her motivations clear during an interview with Today.

00:35:19.700 Chung recently welcomed twin boys along with her husband, Brian Greenberg.

00:35:23.720 The couple's been married since 2015.

00:35:26.060 She says, I was terrified of becoming pregnant.

00:35:27.760 I was terrified of putting my life on hold for two plus years.

00:35:30.480 In my industry, it feels like you're easily forgotten if you don't work within the next month or of your last job.

00:35:36.640 Things are so quickly paced in what we do.

00:35:38.640 So it's a compromise that we made together as a couple.

00:35:42.400 She continued, I think there's a little bit of shame.

00:35:44.300 It's still not a very common thing.

00:35:46.020 And we weren't ready for judgment.

00:35:47.180 We really just did it to protect ourselves.

00:35:49.260 We announced things when we were ready to.

00:35:52.520 And then she responds to some of the critics.

00:35:54.520 She says, people probably think, oh, she's so vain. 1.00

00:35:56.660 She didn't want to get pregnant. 0.97

00:35:57.560 And it's much more complicated than that for me personally.

00:36:00.680 And I'll leave it at this.

00:36:02.180 It's like, I worked my ass off my entire life to get where I am.

00:36:06.300 I don't want to lose opportunities.

00:36:08.400 I don't want to be resentful.

00:36:12.440 That's her response to the charge that she's vain and not doing yourself a lot of favors. 1.00

00:36:17.260 No, no, no, I'm not vain.

00:36:18.460 I just didn't want to lose any opportunities with the inconvenience of carrying my own children in my womb.

00:36:24.760 And I didn't want to be resentful.

00:36:28.660 Resentful of who?

00:36:29.960 Your children?

00:36:31.820 It seems to be what she's saying.

00:36:33.000 That if she had decided to get pregnant the old-fashioned way by actually being pregnant, 0.78

00:36:39.000 she would have resented her children for depriving her of opportunities. 0.98

00:36:43.780 You could see perfectly illustrated here the problem with surrogacy in general.

00:36:49.320 There are many problems.

00:36:50.660 It starts with the commodification of human life, the commodification of women. 1.00

00:36:58.200 I mean, you're renting out a woman's womb like it's an Airbnb and paying her for the privilege to house your unborn children. 0.99

00:37:07.900 It's almost like, you know, buying a space, like a storage space or something like that.

00:37:17.440 Renting storage space from a U-Haul facility.

00:37:22.480 Like you're storing old ski equipment in a jet ski or something, but instead you're storing your children in somebody's womb. 1.00

00:37:28.560 So that's the first problem.

00:37:29.860 And then also it encourages people to treat children as an accessory.

00:37:35.560 And it's very clear that this actress, that's the way she sees it.

00:37:38.260 Where she wants to have kids and she likes some aspects of the idea of having kids.

00:37:45.860 But she doesn't want to be terribly inconvenienced by it.

00:37:48.760 And she doesn't want to fully inhabit motherhood. 0.87

00:37:55.400 She wants to stay around the fringes of it and only let certain parts of it in and have full total control over that. 1.00

00:38:03.040 So she's treating the children as accessories in her life. 1.00

00:38:06.020 It's kind of like fashion accessories or maybe sort of a hobby that you could take on.

00:38:10.780 And that's, we enable people to see children that way.

00:38:17.840 We enable them to live that way.

00:38:20.580 And that's not good for the people and that's certainly not good for the children.

00:38:25.820 And also there is the problem of not fully inhabiting your own life.

00:38:33.580 And the roles that you play in your own life.

00:38:35.600 Like if you're going to be a mother, be a mother.

00:38:41.880 Embrace the fullness of motherhood to the extent that you can.

00:38:48.020 Which isn't to say that, you know, you need to carry children in your womb in order to be a mother. 1.00

00:38:54.340 You could adopt children and still fully be their mothers.

00:38:58.760 But then you are, if you do that, then you are fully inhabiting motherhood to the extent that you can within that context.

00:39:09.220 But if your intention is to conceive children, then you should inhabit that.

00:39:16.100 So you're rejecting, it's the rejection of your children and of motherhood and of yourself also in a weird sort of way.

00:39:23.940 Not good, just to summarize.

00:39:25.960 All right, let's get now to our comment section.

00:39:28.040 Daily cancellations are the law and order of the day.

00:39:33.620 We're the sweet baby gang.

00:39:38.380 Happy birthday to you.

00:39:43.060 Happy birthday to you.

00:39:47.460 Happy birthday, dear man.

00:39:52.140 Is this filming right now?

00:39:53.020 Happy birthday to you.

00:39:56.040 You guys know how much I love birthdays and surprises.

00:40:05.420 So I really appreciate that.

00:40:08.540 What would I?

00:40:09.360 Oh, nice.

00:40:10.780 I do.

00:40:11.180 I do deeply appreciate it.

00:40:13.040 Thank you.

00:40:14.040 Thanks, guys.

00:40:15.060 Happy birthday, man.

00:40:15.900 Thank you.

00:40:18.220 Okay, I've just been told there's a clip that we're going to play that I'm supposed to react to.

00:40:24.420 So here it is.

00:40:26.680 My four-year-old son asked me, Mommy, who makes the Twitter mob fly off the handle with rage?

00:40:36.780 Who's to blame?

00:40:42.400 A message is a message!

00:40:47.460 I told him, we, we, we, we, we make the Twitter mob fly off the handle with rage.

00:40:58.460 With rage!

00:41:00.060 We, we, we, we, we, we are rocking polka dots and flannel shirts.

00:41:09.380 Without shame.

00:41:10.680 Without shame.

00:41:12.360 Without shame.

00:41:15.620 Do you know our name?

00:41:18.640 Well, do you?

00:41:20.740 We're the sweet baby gang.

00:41:22.060 And we have a crucial message for our sweet daddy.

00:41:43.520 Happy birthday to you.

00:41:47.240 Oh, happy birthday to you.

00:41:53.200 Happy birthday to you, honey.

00:41:58.900 Happy birthday to you.

00:42:08.840 Happy birthday to you for life.

00:42:10.880 For life.

00:42:11.540 Okay.

00:42:16.900 Um, I don't know.

00:42:20.640 I, I'm so, uh, confused right now.

00:42:24.300 Like so much of the audience is, I'm sure, confused.

00:42:28.120 But also deeply touched in a, in a, in a weird way.

00:42:34.860 And that's not a phrase that I use very often.

00:42:37.280 And I wish I hadn't just used it then, but I did.

00:42:38.840 Um, that was, that was, I mean, that was, I have to admit, that was beautifully done.

00:42:46.760 And I don't know, I don't know what else to say about that.

00:42:48.800 That was, uh, that looked like that took a lot of work.

00:42:50.560 And that's from the, that's from the SPG Facebook group, I believe, right?

00:42:54.240 Yeah.

00:42:54.520 That's what, that's who it's from.

00:42:56.040 That took, that looked like, to me, I don't know a lot about editing, but that took, that

00:43:00.120 looked like it took at least, you know, 30, 40 minutes.

00:43:03.360 And, uh.

00:43:03.840 Um, I do appreciate it, um, as much as I'm opposed to any recognitions of birthdays, especially

00:43:11.480 my own, I still will, I will allow that.

00:43:14.680 And I'll even say thank you to the Sweet Baby Gang for that.

00:43:18.060 Um, all right.

00:43:20.880 We're going to try to soldier on from that.

00:43:23.980 And we'll go here.

00:43:25.040 Ruth Lewis says, I think Matt is too hard on Trump.

00:43:30.660 He couldn't govern great because his administration was tied up with phony witch hunts for four

00:43:35.800 years.

00:43:36.080 Sorry, Ruth, I'm still thinking about that, uh, Sweet Baby Gang tribute.

00:43:38.900 Um, what are we talking about here?

00:43:40.020 Okay.

00:43:40.540 I think Matt is too hard on Trump.

00:43:41.960 He couldn't govern great because his administration was tied up with, uh, phony witch hunts for

00:43:45.680 four years.

00:43:46.040 Yeah, look, I'm not interested in the excuses though.

00:43:50.480 If you're president of the United States, that's true, the phony witch hunts and everything 0.96

00:43:55.940 else.

00:43:56.380 And he had the media against him and everybody was against him.

00:43:58.420 And there were, there were things that they were doing against Trump that were quite unprecedented.

00:44:01.940 No doubt about that.

00:44:03.640 I don't deny any of that.

00:44:05.760 Um, but at the same time, okay.

00:44:09.520 And if, and if we're talking about this as just a sort of post-mortem of the Trump years

00:44:13.720 and trying to figure out why, um, why it went the way that he did and why he didn't fulfill

00:44:24.120 ultimately many of the promises that he made and you want to bring up the phony witch hunts

00:44:29.700 and so forth, then fine.

00:44:32.320 But if we're talking about going forward for 2024, you know, your argument for Trump 2024

00:44:39.820 can't be a bunch of excuses for 2016 through 2020.

00:44:43.360 You see what I'm saying?

00:44:44.860 So I don't want to hear, and this, and this is kind of the argument I've heard from a lot

00:44:47.480 of the, a lot of the people that want Trump in 2024 is, is that, well, give him another

00:44:51.700 chance.

00:44:52.500 It's like, what, no, what is this?

00:44:53.960 What do you give him another chance?

00:44:55.720 This isn't like little league baseball or something.

00:44:58.480 So let's set him out there to pitch another inning.

00:45:00.220 It's this, this is the country.

00:45:01.620 And, and by the way, if Trump could be hogtied by phony witch hunts, as you put it, well,

00:45:11.400 that's going to happen again.

00:45:12.300 You think they're not going to do it again?

00:45:13.920 If he gets in there, it's going to be that times 50.

00:45:16.600 It's going to be what it was the first time, but way worse.

00:45:19.780 And so if he's already shown that he can be, uh, essentially disabled in his governing by

00:45:25.820 all of that, then it's just going to happen again.

00:45:27.800 Now you put Ron DeSantis in there, will the same thing happen to him?

00:45:32.300 Maybe.

00:45:32.700 But the thing is, we don't know yet.

00:45:33.840 You can at least make the argument with him that there's, there's, we don't know how it

00:45:36.300 will go.

00:45:36.880 So they're going to have the phony witch hunts against Ron DeSantis.

00:45:39.140 Will he be able to navigate that and still govern effectively and get, and put his agenda,

00:45:44.760 you know, forward with Trump?

00:45:47.620 We already know how it went.

00:45:48.620 And so we know that, um, with Ron DeSantis, there's a, there's a chance it might go different.

00:45:53.700 So that's my argument.

00:45:54.480 Okay.

00:45:55.780 All right.

00:45:56.300 But Devin says, even if you grant all of gender ideology, shouldn't their belief in

00:46:00.600 gender fluidity alone preclude them from allowing children to make life altering changes to their 0.99

00:46:05.460 body?

00:46:06.280 That's a really good point.

00:46:07.420 And that's just, but one of a million self-contradictions in the whole, um, in, in, in gender ideology

00:46:12.760 in general.

00:46:14.100 Um, also the fact that like you're, what we're told now is that your body has nothing to do

00:46:21.620 at all with your gender or your sex or anything else.

00:46:24.940 Like your body parts are totally irrelevant.

00:46:27.340 We're told.

00:46:28.260 Right?

00:46:29.260 So then what, what, what's the point of the surgeries?

00:46:33.220 What's the point of the drugs?

00:46:34.660 What's the point of the, of, uh, chopping the women's breasts off and all the rest of it? 0.99

00:46:40.500 Because according to them, right? 1.00

00:46:44.740 You, you, you can, women have penises. 1.00

00:46:47.200 Because also there's nothing inherently male about having a penis. 1.00

00:46:52.660 So if that's the case and you identify as a woman, then why get the surgery mutilating 0.99

00:46:57.200 your genitals in the first place? 1.00

00:46:59.680 When that has nothing to do, it's almost like a separate thing. 0.93

00:47:02.300 Now we're, we're being told.

00:47:04.400 So it doesn't make any sense.

00:47:05.480 But of course, as we've discovered, they, nothing to say makes any sense.

00:47:09.820 Um, Michelle says, speaking of the, uh, of the drag bird song that we played yesterday,

00:47:16.820 wouldn't this be more effective if a gentle, delicate female ballerina had performed this? 1.00

00:47:21.220 Is there something wrong with the soft, natural beauty of a young woman?

00:47:25.620 Uh, well, yes, there is.

00:47:26.860 As we talked about in the opening, according to the left, there is something wrong with it.

00:47:29.480 And that's why they wouldn't have a woman do that. 1.00

00:47:33.620 Um, Max says, according to my research, Matt is absolutely right.

00:47:38.720 Birds sing in the morning to mark their territory and attract mates, specifically males singing

00:47:43.140 to females. 0.85

00:47:43.940 They do it before dawn because the time and lack of visibility is optimal as to not attract

00:47:49.860 predators.

00:47:50.440 Okay.

00:47:50.740 So I, I thought it was probably something like that.

00:47:52.860 So I, it is officially confirmed that I know more about birds in the Audubon Society.

00:47:56.240 And Mark says, Hey Matt, please never, ever play that drag queen bird song ever again. 1.00

00:48:01.860 Thanks.

00:48:03.200 Which song?

00:48:03.700 You mean, uh, you mean this one?

00:48:20.820 Birds tell us.

00:48:24.320 Birds tell us.

00:48:25.480 That the world is changing.

00:48:27.140 I might make you listen to the whole thing again.

00:48:28.640 That the climate is changing.

00:48:31.700 There might be too much weirdness after the SPG tribute.

00:48:34.260 Around us.

00:48:35.460 In their songs.

00:48:37.560 And in the songs they no longer sing.

00:48:41.560 By the way, Audubon Society, after, after posting this, they shut down their whole Twitter

00:48:47.360 account.

00:48:48.260 In shame.

00:48:49.060 That's true.

00:48:49.520 They actually did that.

00:48:50.140 Who would have ever thought that this would be the end of the Audubon Society?

00:48:56.260 This is how the Audubon Society would go out.

00:48:58.420 Sing just before dawn.

00:49:00.660 Is with drag slam poetry.

00:49:03.180 People believe it's to tell each other that they made it through the night.

00:49:06.060 All right, you're the wise man.

00:49:07.420 Misinformation.

00:49:08.280 As a way of saying, I'm still here.

00:49:11.580 Still here.

00:49:12.500 Okay.

00:49:12.720 Maybe that's why we...

00:49:13.420 All right.

00:49:13.740 That's enough of that.

00:49:14.660 Good.

00:49:15.920 You know how that goes.

00:49:17.300 I can only assume that you've left that comment because you wanted to see the song again.

00:49:21.260 Because you know what happens when you tell me things like that.

00:49:24.060 Right now, most of the country is experiencing a heat wave.

00:49:26.960 So it's a great time to stay indoors with the AC set to 60 degrees.

00:49:30.220 I like to bring it down to 50 if I can.

00:49:32.700 And what better way to enjoy the cool AC than to sit down and enjoy the great content

00:50:13.220 So head to dailywire.com slash subscribe right now to join us today.

00:50:17.000 And now let's get to our daily cancellation.

00:50:20.340 Today we have the exciting opportunity to cancel a pet food company.

00:50:27.060 The Better Choice Company makes super premium natural pet food for millennial and Gen Z pet

00:50:32.940 parents.

00:50:34.120 Now we've already have enough fodder here just in the opening sentence to cancel everybody

00:50:38.420 in sight, but it gets better.

00:50:40.320 As Yahoo Finance reports, the very unaptly named Better Choice Company has launched a new ad campaign

00:50:45.700 for its Halo dog food brand, and here's the marketing pitch according to Yahoo.

00:50:49.320 It says, quote,

00:50:50.600 Let's face it, pets are the world's best kids.

00:50:53.440 That's why Better Choice Company, a pet health and wellness company, unveils its new marketing

00:50:57.640 campaign to celebrate pet parenthood.

00:51:00.980 The new Halo pet campaign sets out to validate and empower the new generation of pet moms.

00:51:07.160 The campaign launches in support of the company's new brand, Halo Elevate, a super premium natural

00:51:13.000 pet food backed by science.

00:51:14.640 Millennials are delaying having children. 0.84

00:51:16.660 They are, however, enthusiastically embracing pet parenthood with 76% of millennials owning

00:51:21.180 a pet.

00:51:21.840 The new campaign from Halo is speaking to these pet moms and saying, we see you, we get you,

00:51:27.440 we are you.

00:51:29.240 Now, if I was a narcissist, I might think that this ad campaign was made specifically to

00:51:34.660 annoy me personally, because it's got all of the elements there.

00:51:39.620 And those suspicions are not much allayed by the actual ad itself, which we will watch

00:51:43.960 now.

00:51:45.220 Halo makes the world's best food for the world's best kids.

00:51:48.740 No, not that kid.

00:51:49.920 This kid.

00:51:50.800 You can leave this kid alone for 10 minutes and they won't destroy your house.

00:51:54.320 Yeah!

00:51:54.740 With these kids, you can actually sleep in.

00:51:57.840 Yeah!

00:51:59.120 And shopping never ends in tears.

00:52:00.920 Ezra, Ezra, please.

00:52:02.060 Maybe being a human parent is overrated.

00:52:04.280 No!

00:52:04.960 So if you're gonna have a kid, make it a furry one and feed them Halo Elevate.

00:52:09.460 Natural, science-based nutrition for their optimal health.

00:52:12.700 Halo, the world's best food for the world's best kids.

00:52:16.900 Okay, where to begin?

00:52:19.020 I don't deny that having kids is actually more difficult than having a dog, and we'll get

00:52:22.920 to that in a moment.

00:52:23.560 But first of all, dogs don't destroy your house or wake you up?

00:52:28.740 What?

00:52:29.640 I find it a bit concerning that nobody at this dog food company has ever actually met a dog,

00:52:33.940 apparently.

00:52:34.340 In fact, dogs tend to be way more destructive than children.

00:52:37.580 They also can be significantly noisier and more annoying.

00:52:41.320 My kids have never eaten my boots or gnawed on the legs of my couch or chewed on the carpet.

00:52:47.300 My kids don't eat out of the trash.

00:52:50.480 My kids don't poop on the floor, usually.

00:52:53.840 My kids don't wake me up in the middle of the night barking.

00:52:57.380 I don't have to take my kids outside of the dead of winter and stand there waiting for them

00:53:00.980 to take a dump in the grass.

00:53:02.920 None of my kids have ever vomited on the kitchen tile and then tried to eat it.

00:53:07.580 Dog has done that, though, multiple times.

00:53:10.460 I came home a few days ago, and someone in the house had torn into my bookshelf

00:53:14.020 and eaten two of my favorite books.

00:53:17.200 Guess who did that?

00:53:18.160 It wasn't my kids, I can tell you.

00:53:20.480 Now, I'm starting to wonder, actually, what kind of kids these people have encountered.

00:53:24.180 You know what my kids can do?

00:53:25.660 They can clean up after themselves.

00:53:27.580 Okay, sure, it does take a lot of coaching, and often I have to deploy various methods of

00:53:32.440 encouragement, shall we say, to get them to clean up, but you can actually raise your kids

00:53:37.420 to clean up after themselves.

00:53:38.840 A dog will never do that.

00:53:40.400 If a dog picks up a shoe in his mouth and walks it over to the other side of the room

00:53:45.080 and drops it there, everybody will applaud.

00:53:47.720 Oh, look at the dog, he's so great.

00:53:49.200 It would take the dog about 19 hours to clean a whole room at that pace.

00:53:53.280 My kids can do it in at least 18 hours.

00:53:56.780 My kids can do other things, too, like they can pour their own bowls of cereal in the morning.

00:54:00.340 They can bathe themselves.

00:54:01.700 In fact, they can do literally thousands of things that the dog cannot do and will never

00:54:07.480 be able to do.

00:54:08.580 And as my kids get older, they'll become even more self-sufficient, while my dog will still

00:54:12.460 be barking at leaves and crapping all over the place.

00:54:15.480 But here's the main difference between my children and the dog.

00:54:19.640 They are my children.

00:54:22.000 The dog is not my child.

00:54:23.900 He's a dog.

00:54:25.200 I'm not the parent of my dog, and you are not the parent of your dog.

00:54:30.200 So stop saying that you are.

00:54:32.420 You are not a dog mommy.

00:54:34.580 Do you know who your dog's mommy is?

00:54:36.420 Another dog.

00:54:37.900 There's a dog that mated with another dog and had a dog, and that dog gave birth to your

00:54:43.020 dog, and that dog is your dog's mommy. 1.00

00:54:47.380 You didn't mate with a dog and have a dog.

00:54:48.980 I sure hope you didn't.

00:54:49.740 Not only are you not your pet's parent, but in fact, your relationship with and to your

00:54:56.840 pet bears no resemblance at all to the relationship a parent has with and to their actual human

00:55:03.540 child.

00:55:03.840 Aside from all the many functional differences between dogs and kids, the other major difference

00:55:08.600 is that within a human nuclear family, there's an opportunity for a loving bond which far

00:55:14.640 surpasses anything you will ever experience with any other human, much less a mangy four-legged 0.85

00:55:21.320 beast.

00:55:22.160 I love my kids in a way that I could never love an animal.

00:55:26.000 I know them in a way that I could never know an animal.

00:55:28.420 I was there with them when they were born.

00:55:30.080 I've cared for them every moment of their lives.

00:55:31.980 I've gotten to know them more deeply as time has gone on.

00:55:34.220 We can talk and have conversations.

00:55:36.300 We can share experiences on a much deeper and more meaningful level than you can share

00:55:40.220 any experience with a dog.

00:55:42.760 My children have brought me great joy, more joy than any animal can bring.

00:55:46.700 They also can make me much angrier and more frustrated than any animal can make me, but

00:55:50.740 that's only because they are human beings.

00:55:53.220 They are complex.

00:55:54.100 They can be rebellious and strong-willed.

00:55:56.980 They're self-aware.

00:55:57.760 They have their own ideas about the world.

00:56:00.640 My dog has no ideas about anything. 1.00

00:56:02.720 He's an idiot and always will be. 1.00

00:56:06.080 It is much more complicated to discipline a child, right? 1.00

00:56:10.320 And there's more at stake.

00:56:12.160 So if you fail as a parent, your child might become a monster who inflicts unimaginable

00:56:17.240 suffering on himself and the world.

00:56:18.840 If you fail as a dog owner, your dog might bite the mailman or whatever.

00:56:23.280 Does this mean that it's better to own dogs because it's easier?

00:56:26.800 No.

00:56:27.640 It means that owning dogs is simpler and easier in some respects, but also much less important.

00:56:33.100 There's much less potential for greatness and for love in its fullest and deepest form. 0.94

00:56:38.680 Just as you could climb a mountain or you could sit on your butt and watch TV.

00:56:43.520 A lot less can go wrong watching TV. 0.88

00:56:45.780 It's easier and takes less effort.

00:56:47.320 Does that mean it's better to watch TV?

00:56:48.880 Does that mean that you should never climb any mountains, whether literally or metaphorically?

00:56:53.300 Sure, if you want to live a shallow and meaningless life.

00:56:55.480 But here's the thing.

00:56:57.240 If you avoid the difficult things in life, you also are avoiding the greatest joys and

00:57:02.720 most fulfilling and most meaningful experiences that life has to offer.

00:57:06.600 This is the bargain you make when you elect to be a dog parent, quote unquote, instead of

00:57:11.580 a real parent.

00:57:12.780 And if your goal is just to be comfortable and live with ease, then why not get an ant

00:57:17.540 farm instead of a dog?

00:57:18.440 Why not stick with a goldfish or a pet rock?

00:57:20.720 Because the further you go down the intelligence and self-awareness ladder, the easier it is

00:57:25.640 to be a parent, quote unquote, of those kinds of creatures.

00:57:28.940 There's also far less potential, again, for love, for joy, for purpose, for meaning.

00:57:33.700 And Lord willing, my kids will grow older, and long after my dog dies, my kids will start

00:57:41.900 having kids of their own, and their kids will have kids, and eventually I will die.

00:57:45.960 And as I'm laying on my deathbed, I will know and take comfort in the fact that my children

00:57:50.260 are alive.

00:57:51.560 They'll be there for me in my final days, just as I was there in their first days.

00:57:58.020 I'm not going to be thinking about my dead dog in those moments.

00:58:00.500 This dog I have now will have been replaced five or six times over by then, but my legacy

00:58:05.360 will live on in my children and in theirs.

00:58:07.820 My blood will run through their veins. 0.72

00:58:10.240 We'll be connected forever in this life and the next.

00:58:13.380 That's parenthood, not pet ownership.

00:58:17.900 Now this perhaps has gotten a little too serious for a conversation that began with a dog food

00:58:21.800 commercial, but as you may have noticed, there are a few things I hate more than when people

00:58:26.480 act as though pets are equivalent to children.

00:58:29.200 They are not.

00:58:31.180 And that is why the Better Choice Dog Food Company is today canceled.

00:58:37.280 And we'll leave it there for today.

00:58:39.120 Have a great weekend.
