The Matt Walsh Show - Matt Walsh Reacts To Anti-Capitalist TikToks

00:00:00.400 Corporations shouldn't be allowed to make these decisions on their own.

00:00:03.840 Well, who should?

00:00:05.120 The people who eat the bread.

00:00:07.040 This wouldn't happen if there were centralized control over all these big corporations. 0.79

00:00:11.280 Are you suggesting a communist form of government in Texas?

00:00:15.840 I suppose I am.

00:00:18.320 Oh dear God.

00:00:19.040 We have a viral video from somebody on TikTok which is being shared primarily by people on the 1.00

00:00:23.920 right who primarily find this person to be stupid and her opinions worthless and that's generally 1.00

00:00:28.320 the way that it works with these TikTok videos of course and very often the people are stupid 1.00

00:00:32.240 and their opinions are effectively worthless but in this case I think that there's a little bit more 0.97

00:00:36.480 to be said about it so let's first watch the clip.

00:00:38.880 All I can ever think about is the fact that this is not the way that life is supposed to be.

00:00:43.280 The whole working your life away just to have a little bit of money, a little bit of free time

00:00:48.160 to do things that you actually enjoy. It's such a waste of life and the older generation will be 0.67

00:00:53.760 the first to call my generation lazy for saying things like that not realizing that they're 0.99

00:00:58.160 just a b**** to capitalism and they're brainwashed. It's all nothing but a capitalist hellscape that 1.00

00:01:04.320 sucks the life out of everyone. I just hate all of this. I hate my ancestors. I hate everything that

00:01:11.120 has happened throughout history to get us to this point.

00:01:13.680 Okay well she uh gets a few things wrong here just a few starting most importantly with the very

00:01:18.800 common misconception that that happiness means having a lot of free time to do what you want.

00:01:24.640 You can't always get what you want. If that was true then virtually no one who ever lived on earth

00:01:32.800 up until the industrial age at least was happy because free time as she conceives it is an

00:01:38.640 extremely modern phenomenon. We think of free time as time without any kind of work at all.

00:01:44.000 Time dedicated to total and complete leisure. That's free time to us. Free time is sitting on the couch

00:01:49.840 for hours ordering food on door dash relaxing in a very sedentary position but historically unless you

00:01:56.080 were like a pharaoh or a roman emperor or something that kind of leisure that kind of free time was not

00:02:01.840 on the menu. Indeed this kind of free time is an invention of our modern western capitalist system.

00:02:09.600 She wants free time but she hates the thing that gives her free time. She's also wrong of course in

00:02:15.360 her hatred of our ancestors. To hate your own ancestors it's to be a branch that curses the

00:02:20.560 roots of the tree that you're attached to. You would not have your existence at all without your

00:02:24.880 ancestors. You would have neither the positives nor the negatives. You would have nothing and be

00:02:30.000 nothing and as it happens in the case of this girl and all the rest of us we can thank our ancestors for

00:02:35.360 many more positives than negatives as we already established all the things that she has and

00:02:40.080 supposedly likes and wants more of. Free time, leisure, etc. She only has because of the work, 1.00

00:02:46.160 innovation, and sacrifice of the ancestors whose graves she now spits on. I'll spit on your grave, 1.00

00:02:52.160 grandma. And most of the things that she doesn't want and complains about, work, hardship, she would 1.00

00:02:58.400 have that no matter what choices her ancestors made given that these are fundamental realities of human

00:03:03.600 existence. But she's not wrong about everything. He's kidding, right? She makes the point and it's a profound one.

00:03:10.320 That many people in modern society are effectively helpless. They cannot do anything for themselves.

00:03:14.960 They have no skills. They have no capacity to be self-sufficient. And even those who are most

00:03:19.120 skilled and most self-sufficient still rely heavily on giant institutions and corporations

00:03:24.080 to provide them with so many things. And while this is all happening, we've also become more

00:03:28.000 isolated, less community focused. We don't even, many of us know our neighbors who live next door. The

00:03:33.440 social experience has migrated online into our phones behind the screen where we can connect with people,

00:03:39.680 but that connection is always limited by the technology that facilitates it and nothing

00:03:43.760 feels exactly real. Hello, I'm here. Oh, hi. She seems to have noticed all of this,

00:03:49.280 and it's good that she's noticed it. But the next step for anyone who notices this problem

00:03:53.600 is to do something about it. You can develop skills. You can learn to care for yourself to a great

00:04:00.240 extent. You can even form families and communities. All of this is possible. Modern society offers

00:04:05.440 a certain way to live, a way that's easy but empty. And we can take it up on that offer or not.

00:04:11.840 You don't have to be miserable or alone or helpless. It's not a requirement. It's an item on the menu.

00:04:17.680 The others just take discipline and effort, which is a price that many people, including this girl,

00:04:23.280 at this point, don't want to pay. And that is why she is still, ultimately, unfortunately today,

00:04:29.280 canceled. You know what company's looking out for you when they actually upgrade your service and

00:04:33.200 they don't charge you for it? Pure Talk just added data to every new and existing plan. They're also

00:04:38.160 including a mobile hotspot with each new plan as well with no price increase whatsoever. If you've

00:04:42.960 considered Pure Talk before but you haven't made the switch, you need to take a look again. For just

00:04:47.440 $20 a month, you'll get unlimited talk text and now 50% more 5G data plus a mobile hotspot. I love

00:04:54.160 Pure Talk. Not only do they offer great services, but they also happen to be veteran-owned and they

00:04:58.720 only hire the best United States-based customer service team available. Remember, you vote with how

00:05:03.920 you spend your money, so stop supporting woke wireless companies that don't support you. When you go to

00:05:08.560 puretalk.com slash Walsh, you'll save an additional 50% off your first month because they actually value

00:05:14.160 you. That's puretalk.com slash Walsh. Pure Talk, wireless for Americans by Americans.

00:05:19.040 It's sick and twisted that I have to work just to survive, just to live my life for basic

00:05:26.960 necessities. Like, I don't want to work until the day I die just to eat and sleep. Basic human

00:05:35.440 necessities, it shouldn't be controversial. Free housing, free healthcare shouldn't be a pipe dream.

00:05:42.960 And I know a lot of people are going to be like, oh, you should be doing this or that. No. Like,

00:05:47.760 what if I don't want to be rich? What if I want to achieve ? I still have to work until the day I die

00:05:54.320 just to live? Just to survive? And I don't want to be told that I'm ungrateful, that I should be

00:06:01.440 happy to have a job where it's taking up 40 hours of my week. 40 hours of my week? People that

00:06:10.480 complain about a 40-hour-a-week job, they blow my mind. Do you know how lucky you are? I know he said,

00:06:16.000 I don't want to be told that I should be grateful. Well, you should be grateful, you brat. I can't even 0.97

00:06:19.760 like conceive of only doing 40 hours of work in a week. Okay, so we have again, a young man who appears

00:06:28.160 to be well-fed, appears to be living in some kind of comfortable shelter, presumably a house or an

00:06:32.480 apartment, and who is obviously blessed with any number of luxuries, like a phone, internet

00:06:36.240 connection, we can assume copious amounts of hair products. He has all of this, and yet doesn't

00:06:40.960 believe that work should be a requirement to maintain it. It's sick and twisted that he should 0.81

00:06:45.920 have to work just to live, let alone to afford his hair conditioner. As I've often said in response to

00:06:50.320 these kinds of disturbingly common complaints from his generation, b***ing about the fact that you have to 1.00

00:06:55.040 work is like b***ing about the fact that you have to breathe. You might as well make a video whining

00:06:59.600 like, you're telling me I have to breathe every second of the day just to live? Exhale, inhale,

00:07:04.640 exhale, inhale all the time just to live? What if I don't want to breathe? What if I want to live at

00:07:08.880 the bottom of the ocean like a starfish? For doing absolutely nothing longer than anyone else,

00:07:14.000 Patrick, this trophy's for you! Why should breathing be a requirement? This is sick and twisted. It'd be a lot

00:07:20.080 easier if we didn't have to do any of that. It'd be easier if we could exist as immortal,

00:07:23.840 indestructible supermen who need nothing and want nothing and can do anything without expending

00:07:28.400 any energy at all. That would be nice, but that is not how things are or will ever be.

00:07:34.800 It doesn't work that way. We've talked about Mr. Hair and why he cannot have what he wants. He cannot

00:07:42.400 have the sort of existence that he feels entitled to. But let's not allow that to distract us from a more

00:07:48.080 important point. As a young man, you shouldn't want to not work. You shouldn't want to coast

00:07:54.880 through life. He says he doesn't want to achieve anything. And in that lack of ambition and that

00:07:59.840 mentality, he is joined, unfortunately, by many in his generation. But it is a deeply depraved

00:08:05.840 mentality. It is not natural. It is not normal. Or at least it shouldn't be. As a young man, you should

00:08:11.520 have big dreams and goals. You should have designs on like conquering the world. You may lack wisdom

00:08:18.640 and experience, but you should not lack for ambition. I mean, that's the one thing you should

00:08:23.840 not lack for. We got an entire generation addicted to phones practically from birth. And as a result,

00:08:28.720 we destroyed for many of them any hope that they might become successful. And along with that,

00:08:33.840 we destroyed civilization as well. But the good news is the aliens are just going to vaporize us anyway.

00:08:38.320 So, in the meantime, however, Mr. Hare is canceled. Well, have you ever worked with dreads before?

00:08:49.520 This is what you do. In the ice. We got you. And we finish it.
