Summary

Summaries generated with gmurro/bart-large-finetuned-filtered-spotify-podcast-summ .

In reference to a passage that discusses wives submitting to their husbands, I asked, what did women need protection from? The most common answer I got was animals, wild animals, and natural disasters. Is this command still relevant in a modern context? Or are men sincerely convinced that they re out here saving us left and right from bears and tsunamis?

00:00:00.000 You believe in a lot of cases that men and women have roles.
00:00:04.040 Oh, yeah.
00:00:04.600 If we walking up to the car and I don't open your car door,
00:00:07.380 what do you say?
00:00:08.240 Open the door.
00:00:08.880 You better believe it.
00:00:09.740 Yeah, no, I am with you.
00:00:11.220 So you make daddy a sandwich.
00:00:14.520 I will after I get out of the shower.
00:00:16.980 We're going to take a look at some videos.
00:00:20.580 These are all videos having to do with gender roles.
00:00:23.700 And I assume, I haven't seen any ahead of time,
00:00:25.500 but I assume that these are all mostly TikTok videos.
00:00:28.320 So we're going to get insight from TikTok on the question of gender roles.
00:00:33.820 And I'm sure that the insight will be quite profound and indeed insightful.
00:00:39.760 In reference to the passage that discusses wives submitting to husbands,
00:00:43.340 I asked, what did women need protection from? 1.00
00:00:46.020 The most common answer I got was animals, wild animals, and natural disasters.
00:00:52.860 Assuming this is the case, is this command still relevant in a modern context?
00:00:57.080 Or are men sincerely convinced that they're out here saving us left and right from bears and tsunamis? 1.00
00:01:02.200 Well, yeah, if you ask a bunch of stupid people a question, you'll get stupid answers. 1.00
00:01:06.360 Almost as stupid as they're stupid doors. 1.00
00:01:09.000 So there's no surprise there. 1.00
00:01:11.220 But what do women need protection from? 1.00
00:01:13.380 I mean, first of all, that's actually not even necessarily a very stupid answer. 0.95
00:01:18.220 First of all, it may be the case for you as someone living, you know, in a comfortable environment in the modern Western world. 0.98
00:01:26.660 It may be the case for you that you don't have to worry about animal attacks.
00:01:29.140 That's the kind of, like, that's a real threat for actually billions of people who currently live on planet Earth right now.
00:01:36.300 That is the kind of thing.
00:01:42.580 And in fact, when we talk about, you know, like, where do we get the idea that men should be protectors?
00:01:47.720 Well, this is an ancient idea.
00:01:49.640 And it goes back to a time when things like animal attacks were irrelevant threats to most people who lived on Earth.
00:01:59.820 Natural disasters.
00:02:01.000 If you have a tornado bearing down on you at this exact moment, then it's unlikely that a man will be able to step in your way and, like, punch the tornado and make it go away.
00:02:11.820 But I don't think that's what people mean when they talk about natural disasters.
00:02:13.940 Here's one way that we protect ourselves from natural disasters, let's say one way, is by building homes that will be able to withstand natural disasters.
00:02:23.620 And who are the people building, doing all the building, like almost all the building?
00:02:27.560 I'm reinforcing the header.
00:02:29.800 That's great, buddy.
00:02:31.940 As soon as the zoning committee gives me their approval, I know the bank's going to release the money right now.
00:02:35.720 I'm just asking anyone to just, you know, power through.
00:02:37.640 If I was to look and I don't have the information right in front of me, and so anyone is free to fact check me on this.
00:02:42.640 Let's get to work, people.
00:02:44.500 But if I was to look at the demographics for construction workers, am I going to find that it's 50-50 men and women?
00:02:50.760 Or am I going to find that nearly every construction worker on the planet is a man?
00:02:55.640 So that is actually an example of men protecting women and themselves and society.
00:03:00.500 But there are many other things as well that women would need protection from.
00:03:05.420 You know, crime, violence.
00:03:07.280 These are all very relevant things.
00:03:09.080 Like, if you live in a city, you probably don't have to worry about a lion chasing you down.
00:03:13.020 But you do have to worry about criminals.
00:03:15.860 That's why if you live in a high-crime area, or even if you don't live in a high-crime area, and you're a woman, 1.00
00:03:21.900 you're probably going to feel much safer if you have a man at home with you.
00:03:26.720 There's a question for you.
00:03:27.940 You take any woman at all. 1.00
00:03:29.160 I don't care how feminist and how empowered they think they are. 1.00
00:03:32.960 Will they feel safer at night knowing that a man is in their home?
00:03:38.340 Like, if they're married, do they feel safer when their husband is there at night?
00:03:42.840 Or if they're home alone?
00:03:46.600 I think for nearly every single woman, they'll say, yeah, I feel safer when a man is there.
00:03:51.500 Now, flip it around.
00:03:53.520 Is there any man who feels safer at night at home knowing that his wife is there?
00:03:59.700 No, I mean, I can say this as a man.
00:04:03.340 I'm happy that my wife is there.
00:04:04.860 I don't feel physically safer.
00:04:06.840 I don't think to myself, well, if anybody breaks in, at least my wife is here to handle it.
00:04:12.020 So I think that also tells you something about the gender roles and how they still apply.
00:04:15.920 Are you one of the millions of American men and women dealing with premature hair thinning and hair loss?
00:04:20.280 Or maybe you're scared about inheriting that thinning look because it runs in the family.
00:04:23.980 Well, finally, there's a real solution that delivers on its promise without the harsh side effects,

00:05:06.160 That's ProviaHair.com slash WalshYT.
00:05:09.000 I want you to be true to yourself, not restricted by what society expects of your agenda.
00:05:13.200 I mean, it's me, Dad.
00:05:14.260 Mom and I believe you can do whatever you want, despite society's pressure, put you in a
00:05:18.260 box.
00:05:18.540 Girl, boy, man, woman.
00:05:20.260 And here we are, one month into your life, I'm outside doing the macho work while mom's inside
00:05:24.860 cleaning and feeding you.
00:05:26.040 I understand it's normal to have some things gendered, but we weren't like this before 0.89
00:05:29.840 you.
00:05:30.120 And honestly, it worries me as your role model.
00:05:32.320 But the lesson I'm learning here is that there will be moments in life where things
00:05:35.700 we do are gendered, but it doesn't mean that you're restricted by your gender and your journey
00:05:39.840 to discovering your true self.
00:05:42.040 Much love.
00:05:43.260 Bye.
00:05:43.440 Yeah, of course, because if you want to send a message to your, how old is the baby?
00:05:47.220 It's like a one month old baby.
00:05:48.540 Yeah.
00:05:49.360 If you want to send a message to your baby, the way to do it is to make a TikTok video.
00:05:53.660 How about if you want to impart lessons to your child?
00:05:56.060 And I mean, when they're infants, it's a little bit early.
00:05:58.700 They're not going to understand what you're saying.
00:06:00.000 But as they get a little bit older, how about you just sit down and talk to them?
00:06:02.900 So that, of course, tells us that you're not actually talking to your kid.
00:06:05.420 You're talking to society because you want to be applauded for your enlightened attitude,
00:06:09.500 which is not enlightened attitude.
00:06:11.020 It's like he's outside building something and it feels the need to apologize for it to
00:06:15.380 the world.
00:06:15.960 Like, yeah, I know I'm building something and my wife is home caring for the baby, but don't
00:06:19.720 make any assumptions.
00:06:21.480 Even though we feel that we're enlightened, I would not send my wife out to go build the
00:06:25.240 shed while I'm at home feeding the baby.
00:06:28.240 That's not going to happen.
00:06:29.380 Which only goes to show that even the people who think that they are beyond gender roles and
00:06:33.760 that they're living a life beyond them, even those people really aren't.
00:06:37.140 Because a lot of what we call gender roles, these are just, these are ingrained in humanity
00:06:42.260 and they're not arbitrary is the point.
00:06:45.280 There's a reason why it works out this way.
00:06:47.840 Men are a certain way. 0.80
00:06:49.580 Women are a certain way. 1.00
00:06:50.800 Women have certain capabilities that men don't have. 1.00
00:06:53.220 Men have certain capabilities that women don't have. 1.00
00:06:54.900 And the whole point of gender roles, it's not an arbitrary designation that was invented
00:06:59.640 by society to oppress you and to make you feel bad.
00:07:03.180 It's more society recognizing these differences in men and women and these capabilities that
00:07:10.320 men have and these capabilities that women have and saying to the individuals, well, there 1.00
00:07:15.440 are responsibilities that come with that.
00:07:17.740 You're a man.
00:07:18.600 That means you're going to be stronger than your wife. 0.93
00:07:22.120 You know, you're going to have, so there's a responsibility that comes with that strength.
00:07:26.360 You're supposed to use that in a certain way.
00:07:28.760 With great power comes great responsibility.
00:07:31.280 It actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
00:07:33.500 And you don't have to think about it that hard to see that it makes sense.
00:07:35.780 That'll do it.
00:07:36.460 We'll end it there.
00:07:37.520 Talk to you tomorrow.
00:07:38.280 Godspeed.
00:07:38.600 She'd never bother with people she'd hate. 1.00
00:07:45.140 That's why the lady is a tramp. 1.00
