Supreme Court rules in favor of Tennessee's law banning medical mutilation of minors in transphobic, gender reassignment surgeries. It's a birthday present for me, and a huge win for all of the kids who need protection from this brutality.

00:00:00.000 Well, guys, you know, if you've been following my work for any amount of time, you know that
00:00:03.840 I'm not big on birthdays. So I feel a little bit like a hypocrite saying this, but I do have to say
00:00:08.780 felt like quite a wonderful birthday present today when I got the news about the Supreme
00:00:15.240 Court ruling and the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of our law in Tennessee banning child
00:00:22.360 mutilation, quote unquote, gender transitions of minors. And this just happens. And more than a
00:00:29.080 birthday present for me, it's, of course, a huge win for all the children, all the kids who are will
00:00:35.760 now be protected from this brutality, from this butchery. So it's a it's a huge victory. And I
00:00:42.000 think all the way back to three years ago now, when we did our investigation into the child butchery
00:00:48.560 practices of Vanderbilt, and we followed that up with our big rally in the in the capital here in
00:00:54.980 Nashville. And then our lawmakers were on the case. And very quickly, they responded with this
00:01:02.340 law, which was just upheld by the Supreme Court. For the last few years, trans activists have been
00:01:08.920 really confident that all of the all the laws that we've seen dozens of states now have passed these
00:01:15.580 laws over the last couple of years and a few even before our law in Tennessee. And trans activists were
00:01:22.120 very confident that it doesn't matter because the courts, the courts will the courts will make it
00:01:25.880 all okay for us because that's if you're on the left, that's what you're accustomed to. You're
00:01:30.500 accustomed to the courts coming in and being, you know, your activist arm. But that's not what happened
00:01:38.380 here. The Supreme Court, the highest court in the land has just stated that, in fact, it turns out
00:01:46.000 you do have the right to pass laws banning, you know, the medical mutilation of minors.
00:01:54.680 So it's a big victory. It's a huge victory. It's something that we should all be grateful for.
00:01:58.600 It's something that we should be proud of. All of us are many people who have been in this fight for
00:02:03.440 years and years and years. We should be proud of that. We should be grateful for that. But, you know,
00:02:09.080 as soon as we're done popping the champagne, now we have to look forward. We have to ask ourselves,
00:02:13.820 what's next? What do we do now? And to me, the very next step is quite obvious. Not the Supreme
00:02:20.940 Court has ruled and ruled correctly. What that means is there is nothing stopping us. There is
00:02:27.060 nothing stopping our Republican majority in Congress and our Republican president from passing a law which
00:02:35.100 bans these procedures, bans this brutality, this butchery nationwide. We've already banned it in many
00:02:42.480 states. But look, there are still states in the union that are run by governors and lawmakers who
00:02:52.740 are in favor of child butchery. And they want to keep doing this to kids. But the kids in those states,
00:02:58.800 they deserve to be protected, too. This should not be happening to any kid, whether it's a kid in
00:03:03.780 Tennessee or a kid in California. It doesn't matter. And so that has to be the next step. And so after
00:03:11.080 we're done our celebrating, I think we turn immediately to our lawmakers in Congress right
00:03:18.060 now and say, it's time to get this done. Let's get it done right now. Now's the time.
