00:02:26.200 Three more suspects charged this week in connection with an alleged ISIS-inspired Halloween terror plot foiled in Michigan last week.

00:02:37.760 Five total now facing federal charges in the case.

00:02:41.860 Two New Jersey teenagers from affluent families, both 19 years old, arrested on Tuesday,

00:02:47.940 in addition to a third suspect arrested in Michigan.

00:02:50.920 The New York Post reporting Tomas Khan Jimenez Guzel was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport.

00:02:58.660 Law enforcement sources telling the Post Guzel was planning to visit family in Turkey, then go to Syria to train with ISIS.

00:03:06.060 Guzel has allegedly been planning to travel to Turkey later this month,

00:03:09.660 but changed his plans when the Michigan suspects were arrested, according to the Post.

00:03:13.740 Investigators saying they found a message on Guzel's phone about carrying out a Boston Marathon bombing-like attack.

00:03:22.020 Authorities also arresting Milo Shadarit, the suspect, at his father's home.

00:03:27.380 The teens, who attended the same high school, allegedly both members of a group chat,

00:03:32.020 including members of the alleged Michigan plot,

00:03:35.060 containing discussions of a Halloween attack they referred to as pumpkin.

00:03:39.260 ABC 7 reporting the group talked about an attack on LGBTQ targets in the Detroit area and joining ISIS in Syria.

00:03:48.980 Acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Haba describing the nature of the charges

00:03:53.440 and the alleged plot in a video posted to social media on Wednesday evening.

00:03:57.900 As alleged in today's complaint,

00:04:00.460 from around October 4th, 2024, to November 4th, 2025,

00:04:05.140 Tomás Kán Jiménez-Gazal of Montclair, New Jersey,

00:04:09.140 along with other co-conspirators,

00:04:11.200 used encrypted messaging applications to plan travel to Turkey

00:04:14.780 and then to Syria to join ISIS as fighters.

00:04:17.920 They discussed detailed travel plans, physical training,

00:04:22.140 weapons, including firearms and IEDs,

00:04:25.400 and methods to avoid law enforcement detection.

00:04:28.680 According to the complaint,

00:04:29.880 they pledged themselves to ISIS and were plotting acts of terrorism in our country.

00:04:36.580 The messages also included photographs of Jiménez-Gazal standing in front of the ISIS flag holding a knife.

00:04:43.020 The complaint against Milo Sidorat charges two counts of transmitting threats to interstate and foreign commerce.

00:04:49.780 It describes a pattern of anti-Semitic messages advocating violence,

00:04:54.660 along with images and purchases consistent with preparation for attack,

00:04:59.780 including a knife and sword collection,

00:05:02.520 tactical gear, and images of him practicing at a gun range.

00:05:06.160 Both teens appearing in court on Wednesday to confirm they understand the charges against them.

00:05:12.060 The third suspect, 19-year-old Ayyub Nasser, also arrested Wednesday in Michigan.

00:05:16.960 His brother, one of the two men arrested last week.

00:05:19.420 All U.S. citizens, the three are charged with conspiring to provide material support to ISIS

00:05:24.720 and having firearms that would be used to commit an act of terrorism on behalf of ISIS.

00:05:30.220 Attorney General Pam Bondi describing the weapons cache discovered by investigators.

00:05:35.500 This has been a team effort, and everyone's done an incredible job,

00:05:39.320 and they've stopped a major terrorist attack.

00:05:42.980 These two defendants, not only what you said had 1,600 rounds of ammo,

00:05:47.760 they had multiple, countless AR-15s, they had shotguns, they had handguns,

00:05:52.760 and they were going to the range to perfect their skills,

00:05:56.360 and they also, and this is all out of our indictment, by the way,

00:05:59.480 because it's a pending case.

00:06:00.580 I'm only saying what's in the indictment.

00:06:02.460 They also had been going to the range to perfect their skills,

00:06:05.840 and they had discussed the 2015 Paris attack.

00:06:10.200 So they were fully planning on a terrorist attack in our country.

00:06:15.000 There's going to be more to come on this.

00:06:16.440 Is there any link overseas?

00:06:18.160 There'll be more to come on this.

00:06:19.460 This is all I can talk about now on it.

00:06:21.820 Ali's lawyer saying over the weekend there is, quote,

00:06:24.260 no evidence backing the allegations.

00:06:29.060 Listen up, travelers. 1.00

00:06:30.480 Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warning Americans to brace for noticeable flight disruptions

00:06:36.200 at 40 major airports beginning today.

00:06:39.060 Due to the ongoing government shutdown, now in its sixth week, the longest ever,

00:06:44.720 the FAA is rolling out a graduated cut to air traffic, starting with a 4% reduction today,

00:06:50.720 increasing by 1% each day until it hits 10% next week or until the shutdown ends.

00:06:56.500 CNBC reporting as many as 3,500 to 4,000 flights a day could be affected with the biggest slowdowns

00:07:04.860 expected at the nation's busiest hubs, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and New York.

00:07:11.100 The FAA says the cuts are necessary due to staffing shortages among air traffic controllers straining operations.

00:07:18.560 Controllers required to work without pay as essential employees now about to miss a second full paycheck on top of an earlier partial one.

00:07:28.780 CNN reporting more than 400 staffing shortages have been logged at FAA facilities since day one of the shutdown,

00:07:35.640 creating cascading delays and crowding at airports nationwide.

00:07:39.820 Secretary Duffy explaining the move yesterday on Fox.

00:07:43.240 We always assess risk in the airspace, right?

00:07:45.360 As you've seen, and I think you and I have talked about, controllers are making decisions about their families and their income,

00:07:51.900 and some of them are not coming to work.

00:07:53.560 It's a problem.

00:07:54.200 I want them to come to work and do their jobs, but that's the reality that I deal with.

00:07:58.540 And so you've seen a lot of delays and cancellations through the airspace.

00:08:02.480 It changes every single day based on what controllers are coming to work and which ones are not and what airspaces.

00:08:08.840 But we were seeing increased pressure in these 40 markets, and we looked at the data.

00:08:14.680 This was data-driven.

00:08:16.220 And so taking 10 percent of the flights out will reduce that pressure, which is what we want to do.

00:08:21.660 Now, does that mean there's going to be no delays?

00:08:23.160 No, Brian.

00:08:23.620 There's potentially still going to be delays.

00:08:25.680 If we have staffing triggers and we don't have enough controllers in an airspace where we did cut 10 percent,

00:08:32.260 you might see additional delays.

00:08:33.520 One pilot for a major U.S. airline telling AM Update the situation is, quote, cataclysmic.

00:08:40.260 Secretary Duffy telling Fox the decision, though painful, is essential to ensuring safety in the sky.

00:08:46.060 My mission, number one, is to keep people safe.

00:08:49.240 That's one.

00:08:50.060 Number two is gridlocked with the traveling public.

00:08:52.960 That's a secondary issue.

00:08:54.280 Delays are a secondary issue.

00:08:55.560 Safety is primary.

00:08:56.260 And so this is not politics for us.

00:08:58.720 Again, politics are around what's happening.

00:09:01.900 But this was not a political decision.

00:09:03.520 This was a data-driven decision to make the right calls to get ahead of any issues that could happen, you know, in the airspace that could have negative consequences.

00:09:14.080 There are rumblings of a deal on the Hill, but no timeline on when one might be reached to reopen the government.

00:09:20.740 Coming up, President Trump announces a deal with two major drug manufacturers to lower the prices of popular medications.

00:09:30.180 And former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi officially announces plans to retire.

00:09:39.200 When customers are walking through the aisles of their local Walmart, they're not just picking up groceries or supplies.

00:09:45.360 They're supporting American businesses and their communities.

00:09:48.560 The real story is what's behind the label.

00:09:50.740 With over two-thirds of the products Walmart buys, made, grown, or assembled right here in the U.S., buying local is not just stocking shelves.

00:09:58.520 It's about strengthening communities.

00:10:01.140 Because of that commitment, Walmart invested $350 billion in U.S. manufacturing, helping American companies like Fisher & Weezer Specialty Foods, a local Texas business, expand their operations in Fredericksburg, Texas, hire more people, and bring their Texas-grown peach jam to a national market.

00:10:20.200 Their story is just one example of how Walmart is supporting over 750,000 American jobs.

00:10:27.800 Businesses across the country are empowered to sell more, hire more, and help their communities grow.

00:10:33.600 From farms to factories to final shopping carts, learn how Walmart is fueling the future of U.S. manufacturing at walmart.com slash americaatwork.

00:10:44.020 President Trump announcing a major new weight loss drug deal yesterday from the Oval.

00:10:50.840 So today I'm thrilled to announce that the two world's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers, Eli Lilly and Noah Nordisk, have agreed to offer their most popular GLP-1 weight loss drug, I call it the fat drug, remember, at drastic discounts.

00:11:10.100 Including the drugs known as Zep-bound and Wigovi, often called Ozepic.

00:11:16.440 It's a triumph for American patients that will save lives and improve the health of millions and millions of Americans.

00:11:23.300 Amazing thing, they are amazing.

00:11:25.360 According to the White House, GLP-1 weight loss drugs Wigovi and Ozepic, currently priced at roughly $1,000 to $1,350 per month, will drop to around $350 when purchased through TrumpRx, a newly created government-managed direct-to-consumer online pharmacy.

00:11:45.200 The Trump administration targeting the long-standing global arrangement in which American consumers pay incredibly high prices for the same drugs from the same factory in the same packaging sold to consumers around the world for just a fraction of the cost.

00:12:01.780 More from the president.

00:12:02.760 The United States is just 4% of the world's population and consumes only 13% of all prescription drugs.

00:12:12.100 Yet, pharmaceutical companies make 75% of their profits from the American customer.

00:12:17.620 I would say that's not so good.

00:12:19.900 To address this chronic unfairness, I signed an executive order earlier this year instructing my administration to do everything in our power to implement most favored nation's drug pricing,

00:12:31.000 which means that Americans should pay no more than the lowest price offered anywhere in the world.

00:12:36.420 So that you've heard for years the disparity where you'll pay $150 for a pill in New York and you'll pay $10 for a pill in London.

00:12:44.980 Now you're going to pay $20 both because the world is a little bit bigger than the U.S., so it goes up that way.

00:12:51.300 But you'll pay $20 and $20.

00:12:54.140 A tremendous advantage to our country after years of being abused by the world system.

00:13:00.460 Obesity in America is not just a personal health issue.

00:13:04.440 It's a full-scale national crisis.

00:13:07.080 According to HHS Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr., 50% of the adult population is obese or overweight.

00:13:15.060 Here the secretary says this deal, while not a cure-all, will drastically improve health outcomes.

00:13:20.200 Obesity is the number one driver of chronic disease, and it drives about 50% of health care costs in this country.

00:13:30.220 Diabetes, cardiac diseases, we are going to see a decline because of this historic agreement.

00:13:36.880 We're going to see a decline in costs, but also, more importantly, in the afflictions themselves.

00:13:42.880 Obesity is a disease of poverty, overwhelmingly, and this drug, these drugs, have only been available for people who have wealth.

00:13:54.760 And what about the people who live in rural areas, who live in food deserts?

00:13:58.820 What about the people in urban areas who live in food deserts and are suffering from obesity

00:14:03.960 and are locked into that system where they can only get ultra-processed foods, which are aggravating the problem?

00:14:11.460 This will be a lifesaver to them.

00:14:14.160 It's not a panacea.

00:14:15.860 It's not a silver bullet.

00:14:17.840 President Trump has also instructed us to address and end the root causes of chronic disease, and we're doing that.

00:14:25.820 Secretary Kennedy also announcing new federal food guidelines will be released in December,

00:14:31.040 aiming to radically alter American diets and solve a key driver of the obesity epidemic.

00:14:35.920 Head of Medicare and Medicaid Services, Dr. Oz, with a stunning projection on the effect of widespread access to these weight loss medications.

00:14:44.920 We have an update, Secretary Kennedy.

00:14:46.960 We thought it was 125 million pounds.

00:14:49.440 Mr. President, our estimate, based on the company numbers as well, is Americans will lose 135 billion pounds by the midterms.

00:14:57.020 But I don't measure it in pounds.

00:14:58.520 I measure it in saved lives.

00:15:00.140 People can sleep again because they can breathe when they go to bed.

00:15:02.820 Folks whose knees don't hurt, people who don't have heart attacks, renal failure, dementia, all the things we know are associated with obesity and much more.

00:15:11.080 Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announcing Thursday in a social media video that she will not run for re-election next year.

00:15:17.820 For decades, I've cherished the privilege of representing our magnificent city in the United States Congress.

00:15:26.580 It seems prophetic now that the slogan of my very first campaign in 1987 was,

00:15:32.820 A voice that will be heard.

00:15:34.840 And it was you who made those words come true.

00:15:37.520 It was the faith that you had placed in me and the latitude that you have given me that enabled me to shatter the marble ceiling and be the first woman Speaker of the House.

00:15:48.840 That is why I want you, my fellow San Franciscans, to be the first to know I will not be seeking re-election to Congress.

00:15:56.900 With a grateful heart, I look forward to my final year of service as your proud representative.

00:16:03.280 The 85-year-old, having served 19 terms over nearly four decades, was first elected in 1987 and became the first female House Speaker in 2007, and then again in 2019.

00:16:15.440 During her tenure, the Speaker Emerita, a made-up term, led both impeachment efforts against President Trump, 0.97

00:16:22.880 the first over allegations that he withheld foreign aid to push Ukraine into investigating Vice President Joe Biden's business ties in the region,

00:16:31.840 which later gained significant factual support.

00:16:35.360 The second coming just days after the January 6th riot, Ms. Pelosi's daughter's documentary film crew capturing this moment as the Speaker fled the Capitol.

00:16:45.440 We have responsibility, Terry.

00:16:48.280 We did not have any accountability for what was going on there, and we should have. 0.93

00:16:54.620 This is ridiculous.

00:16:56.680 You're going to ask me in the middle of the thing when they've already breached the inaugural stuff that should we call the Capitol Police? 0.93

00:17:05.220 I mean, the National Guard?

00:17:07.680 Why weren't the National Guard there to begin with?

00:17:10.740 They thought that they had sufficient resources.

00:17:12.400 No, there's not a question of how they had been.

00:17:14.560 They don't know.

00:17:16.340 They clearly didn't know, and I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for more.

00:17:23.480 President Trump ultimately acquitted by the Senate on both impeachments.

00:17:27.820 Mr. Trump reacting to the news of Pelosi's retirement yesterday, as only he can. 0.96

00:17:32.380 I think she's an evil woman. 1.00

00:17:33.920 I'm glad she's retiring.

00:17:34.940 I think she did the country a great disservice by retiring.

00:17:38.820 I think she was a tremendous liability for the country.

00:17:43.180 And on Dick Cheney.

00:17:43.820 I thought she was an evil woman who did a poor job, who cost the country a lot in damages and in reputation. 1.00

00:17:52.060 I thought she was terrible.

00:17:53.200 Thank you very much.

00:17:53.940 Speaker Pelosi retiring on a comfortable nest egg.

00:17:58.060 She and husband, venture capitalist Paul Pelosi, sharing an estimated net worth of more than $230 million, according to Newsweek.

00:18:07.740 Must be nice.

00:18:08.560 That'll do it for your AM update.
