The Megyn Kelly Show - Academia Caving to Trump, Bombshell Group Chat Atlantic Report, Massive ICE Roundup： AM Update 3⧸25

00:00:00.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Megan Kelly. It's Tuesday, March 25th, 2025, and this is your AM

00:00:09.020 Update. It wasn't even like, do all of this and you'll get your money back. It was do all of this

00:00:12.800 and maybe we'll talk to you about getting your money back. The Trump administration securing a

00:00:17.340 slate of wins against Columbia University, the main university system, and Democrat-linked law

00:00:23.640 firm Paul Weiss. I don't know anything about it. I'm not a big fan of The Atlantic. To me,

00:00:28.960 it's a magazine that's going out of business. Editor-in-chief of The Atlantic Jeffrey Goldberg

00:00:33.880 says he was accidentally added to a group chat discussing high-level war plans among Trump

00:00:40.140 administration top security officials. Borders are Tom Homan rounds up hundreds of criminal

00:00:45.440 illegal aliens in Boston, and President Trump has a bone to pick with Colorado's governor over

00:00:51.420 something you probably didn't see coming. All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.

00:00:58.960 There's a lot of talk about government debt, but after four years of inflation,

00:01:02.720 another real crisis is personal debt. Some people are working harder than ever and still

00:01:07.320 drowning in credit card debt and overdue bills. But there's done with debt. Now done with debt has

00:01:34.680 month one, and they don't stop until they break you free from debt permanently. Take a few minutes and

00:01:40.600 visit donewithdebt.com. Speak with one of their debt strategists for free. But listen up. Some of

00:01:46.300 their solutions are time-sensitive, so you got to move quickly. Go to donewithdebt.com. That's

00:01:50.840 donewithdebt.com. President Trump securing a recent slate of victories against Columbia University,

00:02:00.960 the state of Maine, and the law firm Paul Weiss. Columbia University facing the loss of $400 million

00:02:07.140 in federal funding, giving in to the Trump administration's demands aimed at curbing

00:02:12.020 on-campus anti-Semitism. The university rocked by violent anti-Israel protests since the start of

00:02:18.820 Israel's war against the Hamas terrorist organization that killed 1,200 Israelis on 10-7-23. The university

00:02:26.780 agreeing to implement a mask ban on campus, protesters had used masks to shield their identities and to

00:02:34.200 require that protesters identify themselves when asked or face disciplinary action. The New York Post

00:02:40.940 reporting 36 campus cops also now empowered to arrest students or remove them from the campus when

00:02:47.260 necessary. Previously, these actions required direct authorization from the university president.

00:02:53.300 The school says it will also appoint a senior vice provost to review the Middle Eastern, South Asian,

00:02:59.420 and African Studies Department. The provost will be responsible for reviewing curriculum,

00:03:04.580 ensuring program offerings are comprehensive and balanced. Columbia officials not fully complying with

00:03:11.320 all Trump administration demands. The university is restructuring the university judicial board rather

00:03:17.060 than fully abolishing it. Critics of the judicial board accuse it of taking insufficient disciplinary

00:03:22.760 action against students accused of anti-Semitic behavior. The New York Times' The Daily podcast

00:03:28.600 explaining even with the concessions, Columbia University is not totally in the clear.

00:03:33.900 That $400 million does not just automatically return. These concessions that Columbia made

00:03:39.880 were essentially their effort to get the government to come to the negotiating table.

00:03:45.520 It wasn't even like, do all of this and you'll get your money back. It was do all of this and maybe

00:03:49.040 we'll talk to you about getting your money back. That's exactly right.

00:03:52.460 The Department of Education reporting Columbia holds roughly $5 billion in federal grant commitments.

00:03:57.960 The original $400 million cut just an initial warning to the university. The Trump administration

00:04:03.420 is serious about ending on-campus displays of anti-Semitism as the law requires.

00:04:09.980 The University of Maine system agreeing to comply with President Trump's executive order banning men

00:04:16.140 from women's sports. Earlier this month, the Department of Agriculture freezing nearly $30 million

00:04:21.940 in research contracts across the system's eight campuses, part of a broader standoff

00:04:27.940 between the Trump administration and tough-talking Governor Janet Mills. On Wednesday, the USDA

00:04:34.040 reinstating the funding, saying the university system is now in full compliance with the executive

00:04:40.160 order. But the issue is not yet fully resolved statewide. The Maine Principals Association, which oversees

00:04:46.960 public school sports, is under federal investigation for allowing a male athlete to compete in the high

00:04:52.600 school girls' pole vault championship. The MPA has not yet agreed to federal demands.

00:04:57.940 The HHS Office of Civil Rights setting a Thursday deadline for the MPA, the Maine Department of

00:05:04.340 Education, and Greeley High School to come into compliance with Title IX. President Trump this

00:05:10.420 weekend, posting to Truth Social, writing, quote, We need a full-throated apology from the governor

00:05:15.680 herself and a statement that she will never make such an unlawful challenge to the federal government

00:05:20.520 again before this case can be settled. I'm sure she will be able to do that quite easily.

00:05:25.680 Governor Mills previously threatened to take the Trump administration to court in order to protect

00:05:30.980 the rights of boys in her state to compete in girls' leagues. Instead, she already surrendered at

00:05:37.320 the university level, so we'll see. Paul Weiss, a powerful law firm with deep ties to Democrat

00:05:44.620 politics, caving to the demands of the Trump administration, and then some. On March 14th,

00:05:50.840 President Trump signing an executive order reading in part, quote, global law firms have for years

00:05:55.460 played an outsized role in undermining the judicial process and in the destruction of bedrock American 0.64

00:06:01.700 principles. The president identifying Paul Weiss as one such firm with specific examples. The order

00:06:08.660 suspended security clearances for Paul Weiss employees, restricted their access to federal buildings,

00:06:14.160 and directed federal agencies to cancel contracts with the firm. On Friday, following a negotiated agreement,

00:06:20.840 President Trump revoking the executive order and laying out a number of concessions. The law firm

00:06:26.140 will dedicate $40 million in pro bono legal services throughout the remainder of President Trump's term

00:06:32.180 to support mutually agreed-upon causes, such as supporting veterans. Paul Weiss committing to

00:06:38.720 adopting a policy of political neutrality and abandoning any diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.

00:06:44.660 The firm also acknowledging the wrongdoing of former partner Mark Pomerantz. In 2021, Mr. Pomerantz took a

00:06:52.460 leave of absence from Paul Weiss to join the Manhattan DA's office, where he helped lead the criminal

00:06:57.760 investigation into the Trump organization's alleged inflation of asset values. Upon taking office in

00:07:04.400 2022, DA Alvin Bragg paused the case, saying he was not prepared to move forward with that one.

00:07:11.760 Mr. Pomerantz, in turn, very publicly resigning from the DA's office, publishing a scathing

00:07:17.660 resignation letter in March 2022, and a book titled The People vs. Donald Trump, using his platform to

00:07:25.320 pressure Bragg and or others into resurrecting the probe. In April 2022, Mr. Pomerantz then returning to

00:07:33.140 his position as of counsel at Paul Weiss. It's unclear when Mr. Pomerantz's association

00:07:39.100 with Paul Weiss officially ended, but it apparently has. Ultimately, New York Attorney General Letitia

00:07:45.280 James, a fellow elected Democrat, filed civil charges in a case accusing Trump of inflating asset values

00:07:53.020 to secure favorable loans. In 2024, she secured a civil judgment imposing over $450 million in penalties

00:08:01.040 against Trump, the Trump organization, and its top executives. Trump allies and legal experts

00:08:07.000 blasted that case as politically driven, as a witch hunt, with no clear victim. None of the banks who

00:08:14.320 allegedly been defrauded complained at all. Despite Mr. Trump's 2024 election victory,

00:08:20.240 A.G. James has refused to drop the case, which is now under appeal.

00:08:24.300 Editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine, Jeffrey Goldberg, shocking Washington Monday with a piece

00:08:34.920 headlined, The Trump administration accidentally texted me its war plans. Mr. Goldberg claiming he

00:08:41.920 was added by National Security Advisor Mike Walls to a Signal group chat with what appeared to be senior

00:08:48.780 Trump administration officials. National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes later confirming to

00:08:54.540 Mr. Goldberg and to ABC News the authenticity of the group message chain. On March 15th, the Trump

00:09:01.700 administration began bombing the Houthi rebel group in Yemen. Mr. Goldberg writing, quote,

00:09:06.820 I, however, knew two hours before the first bombs exploded that the attack might be coming. The reason I

00:09:13.400 knew this is that Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, had texted me the war plan at 1144 a.m.

00:09:20.740 Mr. Goldberg outlining days of communications on the encrypted messaging app message chain,

00:09:26.160 which also included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other high-ranking

00:09:32.440 officials. The officials engaging in a nuanced policy discussion, weighing the pros and cons of

00:09:38.160 launching the attack on the Houthis. The user identified as J.D. Vance, pointing out,

00:09:43.400 the Europeans had the most to lose with the shipping disruptions being caused by the Houthis,

00:09:48.200 questioning why America should take on this risk, writing, quote, I am not sure the president is

00:09:53.960 aware how inconsistent this is with his message on Europe right now. There's a further risk that we

00:09:59.680 see a moderate to severe spike in oil prices. Mr. Goldberg then claiming days later the group chat

00:10:05.580 receiving a follow-up message from Defense Secretary Hegseth. Mr. Goldberg writing, quote, I will not quote from

00:10:11.900 this update or from certain other subsequent texts. The information contained in them, if they had been

00:10:17.260 read by an adversary of the United States, could conceivably have been used to harm American military

00:10:22.960 and intelligence personnel. This report quickly picked up and circulated by the media, including

00:10:28.660 MSNBC and CNN. What we're seeing here is just pure carelessness. It is recklessness. It is laziness.

00:10:37.380 It's really a disgraceful situation. If you think signal is equivalent to U.S. government secure

00:10:44.320 telecommunications, think again. Democrats quickly leaping to comment. Senate Minority Leader Chuck

00:10:50.640 Schumer struggling to shore up his own support with progressives, slamming the administration from the

00:10:55.600 Senate floor. It's bad enough that a private citizen was added to this chain, but it's far worse that

00:11:03.460 sensitive military information was exchanged on an unauthorized application, especially when that

00:11:12.120 sensitive military information was so, so important. Secretary Hegseth denying Mr. Goldberg's description

00:11:20.100 of his communications. You're talking about a deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist who's

00:11:29.140 made a profession of peddling hoaxes time and time again to include the, I don't know, the hoaxes of 0.98

00:11:36.400 Russia, Russia, Russia, or the fine people on both sides hoax, or suckers and losers hoax. So this is the guy 0.97

00:11:43.460 that peddles in garbage. This is what he does. I've heard I've heard I was characterized. Nobody 0.98

00:11:49.660 was texting war plans. And that's all I have to say about that. Thank you. President Trump learning

00:11:55.580 about the story in a press conference with the governor of Louisiana from a reporter who brought

00:12:00.660 it up. I don't know anything about it. I'm not a big fan of the Atlantic. It's to me, it's a magazine

00:12:05.520 that's going out of business. I mean, the attack on the hood. Yes. Well, it couldn't have been very

00:12:09.880 effective because the attack was very effective. I can tell you that. I don't know anything about it.

00:12:14.300 The breach raising questions about the handling of sensitive information. The AP reporting under

00:12:19.540 the Biden administration, some officials were authorized to download signal on their White

00:12:24.120 House phones, but were directed to use it sparingly. The National Security Council is

00:12:28.780 investigating how a journalist was added to the group message and no one seemed to notice.

00:12:34.120 Coming up, Porter Czar Tom Homan announcing hundreds of arrests of criminal illegal aliens in

00:12:41.680 Boston as sanctuary cities fight against ICE officials. And President Trump has a bone to

00:12:47.880 pick with Colorado's governor over something you probably did not see coming. All that and more in

00:12:53.460 just a moment. One in two adults have high blood pressure. Many don't even know it. That's a ticking

00:14:05.920 Border czar Tom Homan announcing the arrests of 370 illegal aliens in and around the Boston area.

00:14:17.880 Boston, a sanctuary city, a prime target of Mr. Homan from the start of the second Trump

00:14:22.760 administration. In February, Mr. Homan calling out Boston officials for their refusal to cooperate

00:14:28.560 with federal officials tasked with rounding up the worst of the worst illegal alien offenders. 0.95

00:14:34.220 I read a story last night, the police commission of Boston. You said you doubled down on not helping

00:14:41.100 the law enforcement office of ICE. I looked at the numbers this morning, nine child rapists

00:14:48.080 that were in jail in Massachusetts, but rather than honoring an ICE detainer,

00:14:55.500 released them back into the street. The Trump administration and Republicans in Congress

00:14:59.840 battling sanctuary cities, they say violate the law by not coordinating with ICE officials to remove

00:15:05.680 illegal aliens. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, along with several other sanctuary city mayors,

00:15:11.660 called in March to testify in front of the Oversight Committee.

00:15:14.500 Last year in a Boston suburb, an illegal alien raped and impregnated his 14-year-old daughter while

00:15:21.240 living in a shelter for illegal aliens. Mayor Wu, under Boston law, would you turn this criminal over

00:15:27.560 to ICE on a detainer? Whenever there's a criminal warrant, Boston police enforce that

00:15:32.700 and hold people accountable. If ICE deems that they are dangerous enough to hold, obtain a criminal

00:15:38.840 warrant, and the Boston police will enforce it. Mayor Wu clearly intentionally using very precise

00:15:44.480 language there to describe her city's legal process for releasing illegal immigrants from city

00:15:49.560 custody back onto the streets. In Boston, when local police arrest someone they know is a criminal

00:15:55.220 illegal alien, that person is typically processed and released from custody without notifying ICE.

00:16:01.900 In non-sanctuary jurisdictions, local law enforcement works with ICE by notifying them of

00:16:07.700 the arrest and handing over the individual from within the jail, a process ICE says is safer for both

00:16:14.480 officers and the detainee. In Boston, ICE is often notified only at the last minute, if at all,

00:16:20.840 of the release forcing federal agents to locate and arrest individuals in public places like parking

00:16:26.720 lots where safety risks are higher. ICE officials argue this approach makes communities less safe

00:16:33.280 and undermines immigration enforcement efforts. Mr. Homan describing the recent effort in Boston

00:16:38.840 on X as a multi-agency five-day operation resulting in arrests of six foreign fugitives, including

00:16:46.720 four who were wanted for murder or to serve a criminal sentence for murder, along with drug

00:16:52.640 traffickers, child sexual predators, and numerous other violent public safety threats.

00:16:58.820 The immigration situation, not much better in neighboring New York. Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul

00:17:05.160 telling The David Pakman Show, New York State Police will not cooperate with mass deportations.

00:17:11.080 We're not going to allow this mass deportation. If you have a warrant, or you know someone's on a

00:17:17.040 terrorism watch list, or committing crimes in their home country, or committing crimes here,

00:17:21.020 that's a different category. What I control is the state police, and they will not cooperate in that.

00:17:26.960 Tom Homan warning the governor in recent weeks, if state officials do not cooperate with federal

00:17:31.720 officials, he will take aggressive action. We'll double the man force here if we have to.

00:17:37.180 Because rather than one officer arresting a bad guy in the jail, one officer arresting one bad guy,

00:17:41.200 now I've got to send the whole team. New York State, you've got to change the sanctuary status.

00:17:46.480 If you don't, get out of the way, because we're going to do our job.

00:17:49.680 Since the spring of 2022, more than 200,000 illegal aliens shipped to New York from the Texas border.

00:17:56.660 Many of the new arrivals making headlines for crimes like vandalism and public drunkenness

00:18:01.100 to far more horrific acts. Jose Iberra was arrested and released in New York

00:18:06.560 just months before he was put on a taxpayer-funded flight to Georgia,

00:18:11.360 where he savagely killed 22-year-old Laken Riley.

00:18:17.660 President Trump calling on Democrat Governor from Colorado Jared Polis to remove his presidential

00:18:23.340 portrait hanging in the state capitol building. In a Sunday night Truth Social post,

00:18:28.560 President Trump writing, quote, nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves,

00:18:32.960 but the one in Colorado in the state capitol put up by the governor along with all other presidents

00:18:38.580 was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before.

00:18:44.520 A spokesperson for Governor Polis saying the governor was, quote, surprised to learn the

00:18:48.480 president of the United States is an aficionado of our Colorado state capitol and its artwork.

00:18:54.740 President Trump also calling out the governor as, quote, extremely weak on crime, in particular,

00:19:00.640 with respect to Tren de Aragua, a U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organization.

00:19:05.840 President Trump saying the artist, Sarah Boardman, painted a much more flattering portrait of President

00:19:11.800 Obama. It's almost an exact likeness, truth be told. President Trump writing that the White House

00:19:17.560 received many calls and complaints from the people of Colorado regarding the portrait of Mr. Trump,

00:19:23.140 which was unveiled in 2019. Ms. Boardman telling the Denver Post at the time of the unveiling,

00:19:29.580 her aim was to craft a neutral portrait, quote, in today's environment, it's all very upfront,

00:19:35.980 but in another 5, 10, 15 years, he will be another president on the wall. The portrait commissioned

00:19:43.380 for $11,000, donations raised by a state Republican lawmaker in 2018. New York Magazine describes the work

00:19:51.200 as jowly. That's putting it nicely. He looks 50 pounds heavier than he actually is. A picture of

00:19:57.980 the portrait is posted on megankelly.com, where you can judge for yourself. And that'll do it for
