00:01:02.460 Good morning, everyone. I'm Tom Bevin, co-host of RealClearPolitics on the Megyn Kelly channel.
00:01:07.660 It's Monday, August 31st, 2026, and this is your AM Update.
00:01:11.900 To anybody who feels like my comments might have been hurtful, I'm really sorry. That was not my intention.
00:01:16.720 Michigan's Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate, Abdul El-Sayed, apologizing for his response to a Michigan synagogue attack
00:01:22.820 As Democrats clash over the party's direction and a possible Kamala Harris comeback.
00:01:27.520 He was ordered to appear in immigration court.
00:01:30.220 He didn't show up.
00:01:31.620 The judge ordered him deported.
00:01:33.820 British commentator and social media provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos arrested by ICE and deported back to the U.K.
00:01:40.160 A third day of deliberations getting underway in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial
00:01:43.900 after jurors asked to examine key evidence before breaking for the weekend.
00:01:47.580 and a fake NFL football player and his supposed financial advisor
00:01:51.300 accused of turning online romance into a million-dollar scam.
00:01:55.200 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.
00:02:01.980 We are still a couple months out, but the midterms are fast approaching,
00:02:05.560 and make no mistake, if the house flips, it's a big deal for our economy.
00:02:10.100 That uncertainty is one of the reasons to consider diversifying now
00:02:13.500 with gold from Birch Gold Group.
00:02:15.500 In the three months leading up to the 2024 presidential election, the price of gold jumped
00:02:20.340 over 12%. Why? It's a hedge against uncertainty. If you do not own gold, consider talking with
00:02:28.040 Birch Gold. They will discuss your goals and explain how precious metals can fit into your
00:02:33.420 savings. They could even help you convert an existing IRA or 401k into an IRA in gold for
00:02:39.860 no additional money out of pocket. Text the letters MK to the number 989898 and get a free
00:02:45.180 info kit and some solid information. The midterms will be here before you know it.
00:02:49.860 Don't wait. Text MK to 989898 now.
00:02:55.700 Michigan's Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate, Abdul El-Sayed, trying to put a string of
00:02:59.880 controversies behind him, apologizing Saturday for his response to a March synagogue attack
00:03:04.580 as he works to bring skeptical Democrats aboard his campaign against Republican Mike Rogers.
00:03:09.920 The Associated Press reporting the apology coming during a meeting with the state's
00:03:13.580 Jewish Democratic Caucus in Lansing. The controversy dating back to March 12th after an armed attacker
00:03:19.440 drove into Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township outside Detroit. El-Sayed addressing
00:03:24.920 the attack in a March 13th social media video. Eamon Ghazali hurt people. There is no justification
00:03:30.640 for what he did. It was wrong and he never should have done it. Hurt people hurt people. A week
00:03:35.980 earlier, an airstrike killed his niece and nephew. Imagine if that had never happened. Imagine there
00:03:40.680 was no war in Iran. Imagine if there were no airstrikes in Lebanon. Imagine if his family
00:03:45.020 had never died. Imagine there was never an attack on Temple Israel. That's the world that we want
00:03:50.040 to live in. That's the world we need to build for. Violence always begets violence. Only peace
00:03:55.180 can extinguish that. Because hurt people hurt people. Nearly six months later, those remarks
00:04:00.360 following El-Sayed into the general election. El-Sayed facing questions from reporters Saturday
00:04:05.260 at the state Democrat convention. At the end of the day, our responsibility is to come together
00:04:09.600 as a party. And I made clear I got a really important question about that at the Jewish
00:04:13.260 caucus. And my comments might have been misconstrued to be justifying something I did not intend
00:04:18.700 to justify, right? To anybody who feels like my comments might have been hurtful, I'm
00:04:23.060 really sorry that was not my intention. We condemned that terrorist attack. We condemned
00:04:26.500 it outright. What I was trying to do was offer context for why it happened, but it wasn't
00:04:30.320 the time for context, and you don't ever want to trample somebody's pain.
00:04:34.120 El-Sayed also reportedly softening his message at the state convention after defeating
00:04:38.060 Congresswoman Haley Stevens in the primary, CNN reporting he avoided naming a frequent
00:04:43.080 target of his campaign, the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC, in his speech.
00:04:47.820 His outreach also running up against questions about far-left streamer Hassan Piker, who
00:04:52.600 appeared alongside him at multiple campaign events during the primary.
00:04:56.400 Piker building a following among young progressives and drawing criticism for remarks about Israel,
00:05:01.180 Jews, and the September 11th attacks.
00:05:03.620 In this clip from several years ago, Piker leaving little doubt about where he stands
00:05:07.400 on America.
00:05:08.600 I say I hate America all the time.
00:05:11.200 A lot of motherfuckers want to kill me over that take.
00:05:13.180 But at least I say it with my fucking chest.
00:05:14.960 People will be like, Hassan, you hate America.
00:05:16.400 I'm like, yeah, I do.
00:05:17.240 I do hate America.
00:05:18.300 People will be like, Hassan, you hate cops.
00:05:19.520 They say, yeah, I do.
00:05:20.740 Why?
00:05:21.240 I'm not a pussy.
00:05:22.780 El-Sayed responding last week that only he and his campaign spokespeople speak for his campaign.
00:05:27.960 Reporters pressing El-Sayed on that relationship again Saturday.
00:05:31.660 I'm just going to say this.
00:05:32.580 I'm going to stop you right there.
00:05:34.380 We're here where?
00:05:35.240 What state is this?
00:05:36.680 We're in the state of Michigan.
00:05:38.060 If you want to make this race about a streamer in California, I just think you're missing the vote.
00:05:42.680 This is about affordability in Michigan.
00:05:44.420 This is about being able to see a doctor in Michigan.
00:05:46.200 This is about Donald Trump's disastrous policies in Michigan.
00:05:49.120 That's what I'm focused on right now.
00:05:50.780 I am not interested in a conversation about a social media person in California.
00:05:55.420 The fight over the Democratic Party's direction also surfacing on the Sunday shows.
00:05:59.500 Former Obama White House Chief of Staff and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a possible 2028 presidential contender,
00:06:05.820 drawing a line over how far the party should stretch to accommodate its socialist wing.
00:06:10.840 Emmanuel yesterday on Fox News Sunday.
00:06:13.360 I don't consider Democratic Socialists part of the Democratic Party.
00:06:16.460 About four weeks ago, they had a convention in Chicago, a separate party.
00:06:19.440 They believe in defunding the police, letting prisoners out of prisons,
00:06:24.920 opening the borders, eliminating the Pentagon.
00:06:26.700 If you're so confident people want that, I'll see you in November.
00:06:30.620 Put it on the ballot. Let's go. Run as a separate party.
00:06:33.420 The Democratic Party is not open to be taking over.
00:06:36.080 Elsewhere Sunday, attention turning to who might lead the party's next presidential ticket.
00:06:40.940 Democrat Congressman Jim Clyburn of South Carolina weighing in on the party's presidential prospects yesterday on NBC
00:06:46.760 as his home state prepares to hold the first Democratic primary in 2028.
00:06:51.860 Former Vice President Kamala Harris keeping the door open to another run,
00:06:55.740 prompting a question about whether Clyburn would welcome another Harris campaign.
00:06:59.840 When you look to 2028, Congressman, do you think Kamala Harris should run for president again?
00:07:05.020 Now, that's up to Kamala Harris. I supported her when she ran the last time. I will consider her among all the others if she were to run again. But whether or not she should run is a very personal family decision that I will leave up to her and her family. And when they make that decision, whatever it is, I will then make determinations as to what my actions will be going forward.
00:07:31.520 Harris currently leading the RealClearPolitics average of 2028 Democratic primary polls at 21.2%,
00:07:38.580 six and a half points ahead of former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
00:07:44.220 British political commentator Milo Yiannopoulos deported to the United Kingdom after U.S.
00:07:49.260 immigration authorities accused him of overstaying his visa. The Department of Homeland Security
00:07:54.160 confirming Saturday that Yiannopoulos was removed Friday, one day after ICE agents arrested him
00:07:59.680 at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
00:08:03.180 DHS saying he entered the U.S. legally in May 2019, but stayed beyond his authorized period.
00:08:09.400 An immigration judge issuing a final removal order on July 22nd,
00:08:13.460 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for a hearing, according to the agency.
00:08:17.480 Yiannopoulos rising to prominence during President Trump's first campaign
00:08:20.420 as a Breitbart editor and outspoken supporter of the future president.
00:08:24.760 His public appearances becoming flashpoints in the debate over free speech,
00:08:28.280 drawing both devoted supporters and protesters demanding he be denied a platform.
00:08:33.340 Yiannopoulos making confrontation part of his appeal, delivering often viral marks like these.
00:08:38.800 Feminism is cancer. Thank you very much.
00:08:41.940 My view on this is that anybody who asks for a safe space or a trigger warning should be immediately expelled.
00:08:48.260 The queers for Palestine, possibly the stupidest people to walk the face of the earth,
00:08:52.960 overlook the statistic that 97% of Palestinians believe that homosexuality is an unacceptable
00:08:59.100 lifestyle choice. I'm not scared by terrorists. I'm scared by Islam. Yiannopoulos later taking
00:09:04.840 an unpaid internship in the office of then-Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene
00:09:08.940 before working for rapper Kanye West, now known as Yeh. Yiannopoulos also becoming increasingly
00:09:15.020 critical of President Trump after his early support. His arrest now drawing celebration
00:09:20.060 from conservative activist Laura Loomer
00:09:22.100 following years of public feuding between the two.
00:09:25.620 Loomer telling the Washington Post
00:09:26.860 she repeatedly contacted ICE, DHS, and the FBI
00:09:30.500 about Yiannopoulos being in the country illegally
00:09:32.700 beginning in 2024.
00:09:35.000 White House boarder czar Tom Homan
00:09:36.500 addressing the administration's handling of the case
00:09:38.620 yesterday on CNN's State of the Union.
00:09:41.260 Look, it's my understanding,
00:09:42.660 looking at the Department of Homeland Security press release,
00:09:45.080 that he overstayed his visa.
00:09:47.120 I believe it was a visitor's visa, but I'm sure.
00:09:49.240 but he overstayed the visa. He was ordered to appear in immigration court. He didn't show up.
00:09:55.080 The judge ordered him deported. So once ICE gets an order of deportation from a federal judge,
00:10:00.720 their job is to execute that order, and that's what they did. He had his due process,
00:10:04.620 ordered removed by a federal judge, and ICE removed them. It's that simple.
00:10:08.620 Homan also saying multiple people tipped off ICE, stopping short of confirming Loomer's claim that
00:10:13.100 she was responsible for the arrest. Yiannopoulos posting a less direct response on X,
00:10:17.820 A screenshot of a U.K. ad for KFC's Dirty Louisiana Burger.
00:10:22.620 His caption, quote,
00:10:23.920 Coming up, the jury in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial returning to deliberate this morning
00:10:31.240 as questions grow over whether all 12 jurors can agree on her fate.
00:10:35.620 And a fake San Francisco 49ers football player is arrested
00:10:38.420 and accused of conning dozens of women out of $1.3 million.
00:10:47.820 everyone's talking about weight loss injections because the results can be so dramatic
00:10:53.880 they work by lowering blood sugar and reducing appetite but what if you are looking to lose
00:10:59.380 weight but are not interested in painful weekly injections especially when you hear about some of
00:11:04.360 the intense side effects this is why doctors created a weight loss supplement called lean
00:11:09.440 and the results could be remarkable lean says the studied ingredients in their product have
00:11:14.800 been shown to lower your blood sugar, burn fat by converting it into energy, and to curb your

00:11:25.340 dieter who only has a few pounds to lose. The doctors at Brickhouse Nutrition created lean

00:11:52.020 trial set to resume deliberations this morning after ending last week without a verdict the
00:11:56.840 nine women and three men spending roughly 10 hours deliberating thursday and friday following
00:12:01.540 five weeks of testimony for more than 80 witnesses clancy pleading not guilty to three murder charges
00:12:07.240 after strangling her three young children inside their massachusetts home in january 2023 then
00:12:13.380 attempting to take her own life. Both sides acknowledged she was mentally ill, leaving
00:12:17.800 jurors to determine whether she was also criminally responsible for the killings.
00:12:22.100 The panel able to consider first-degree murder, second-degree murder, or manslaughter, as well
00:12:27.080 as not guilty or a verdict of not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility. Defense attorney Kevin
00:12:32.640 Reddington telling reporters jurors sent just one note on Friday, asking to examine prescription
00:12:37.780 pill bottles and the knife used during Clancy's suicide attempt. That request coming around 10 a.m.
00:12:43.380 less than an hour into Friday's session, and roughly four hours into deliberations overall.
00:12:48.820 Judge William Sullivan discussing the request with attorneys at Sidebar
00:12:52.160 without bringing jurors into the courtroom or publicly reading their question.
00:12:56.560 Any verdict requires unanimous agreement,
00:12:58.960 and the judge may declare a mistrial if jurors cannot resolve their differences and remain deadlocked.
00:13:03.720 We spoke with the MK True Crime Show co-host Phil Holloway,
00:13:07.940 asking first whether jurors should have been kept sequestered as they weigh Clancy's fate.
00:13:12.480 Whether or not to sequester a jury is always within the sound discretion of the trial judge.
00:13:20.460 It's one of these things where there's a trade-off because juries don't like to be sequestered,
00:13:26.860 and so it can make a juror less likely to pay attention in court.
00:13:31.420 It could cause them to be distracted by feeling like they're missing out on personal matters.
00:13:36.620 And so judges have to balance that with the needs of the trial, or in this case, the rights of the parties who have a fair trial.
00:13:46.160 So the judge basically has to balance those considerations.
00:13:49.540 I think in this case, probably sequestration would have made more sense, but it is something that's within the sound discretion of the judge.
00:13:57.960 Inside the jury room, Friday's request for evidence offering a rare glimpse into deliberations, though Holloway cautions against reading too much into it.
00:14:06.020 Anytime we have jury notes, you really lack context other than the actual note itself, but we just don't know what prompted them to submit that note.
00:14:18.020 It may have been one juror that had a question about what the knife looked like, or it may have been a group of them that wanted to know more about the pills.
00:14:26.920 And so it's very difficult to infer anything, particularly at this early stage in the deliberations.
00:14:33.700 Once we start to see more notes, and I think we probably will, we might be able to discern
00:14:40.240 some sort of a pattern and be able to see if they might be leaning one way or another
00:14:46.280 based on a series of notes.
00:14:49.280 But with just one note, you really can't tell.
00:14:52.740 The panel now set to enter a third day of deliberations.
00:14:55.200 We asked how that timeline stacks up against the volume of evidence presented.
00:14:59.240 10 hours of deliberation for a trial that lasted, you know, more than a month is really no time at
00:15:07.060 all. We can expect probably several more days of deliberations. There's a lot of evidence to go
00:15:13.160 through. There's a lot of testimony to go through. You have a lot of conflicting testimony that the
00:15:18.280 jurors are going to have to consider and debate with each other in the jury room and you might
00:15:25.100 imagine that there's going to be some some strongly held beliefs in that jury room there's a lot of
00:15:30.380 people in the public for example who have strong feelings that she's absolutely guilty and you have
00:15:35.320 strong feelings that she's absolutely not guilty by reason of insanity perhaps so you can imagine
00:15:41.600 there's probably some of that in the jury room and so it's going to take a while for the jury
00:15:47.940 of 12 people to reach any kind of consensus. A man posing as a San Francisco 49ers player,
00:15:55.800 along with his supposed financial advisor, now under arrest, accused of running a shocking
00:16:00.640 fraud involving scamming dozens of women out of about $1.3 million. Federal prosecutors in Oregon
00:16:07.020 identifying the defendants as 35-year-old Dajon Labrae Love and 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan,
00:16:13.500 both charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
00:16:17.500 Investigators identifying 26 alleged victims across California, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon
00:16:22.660 in a scheme stretching back to February 2022.
00:16:26.960 Love allegedly finding women through dating apps and social media,
00:16:30.280 then convincing them to send money for investments to him or Chan,
00:16:33.980 whom he introduced as his financial advisor.
00:16:37.020 Love presenting himself online as a wealthy San Francisco 49ers wide receiver.
00:16:41.920 Love publicly posting photos and videos of himself dressed in team gear,
00:16:46.000 pretending to train, along with posts allegedly stolen from real NFL players and presented as his own.
00:16:52.320 An affidavit submitted by an FBI agent detailing more than $1,100 in purchases from a custom football helmet company,
00:16:59.540 plus purchases from businesses selling realistic fake cash and social media followers' likes and views.
00:17:05.900 Investigators describing those purchases as part of an effort to make his invented lifestyle look legitimate.
00:17:11.120 Outkick obtaining video of Love documenting supposed career milestones for the woman he was trying to impress.
00:17:41.120 we good to go let's get ready to start the season any uh anything you got to say for the fans
00:17:46.420 look out number seven last name love six five two ten i'm out there wide receiver yes sir
00:17:54.300 both the nfl and the 49ers reportedly telling investigators love had never been employed by
00:17:59.460 either organization the affidavit describing other identities love allegedly used including
00:18:05.080 saying he was related to green bay packers quarterback jordan love love also allegedly
00:18:10.080 telling some women he was a real estate investor from a wealthy Swiss family. Prosecutors saying
00:18:15.120 Love pursued romantic relationships with many of the women, promising they could build wealth and
00:18:19.800 a future together. Love allegedly using phone apps to fabricate bank balances and investment
00:18:25.060 accounts, making it appear he had the fortune to back up those promises. One alleged victim
00:18:30.400 reportedly losing more than $87,000, only uncovering the deception after nearly a year of dating Love.
00:18:38.300 Another woman reportedly describing threats when she resisted,
00:18:42.000 alleging Love said he would physically hurt her if she didn't give him the money in her savings.
00:18:46.740 According to the affidavit, Love's fabricated social media presence
00:18:49.940 led search engines and artificial intelligence to occasionally identify him as a legitimate 49ers player.
00:18:56.460 Investigators searching his name themselves in January and reporting that some results repeated the false claim.
00:19:02.240 His financial records reportedly telling another story,
00:19:05.260 Investigators finding no identifiable legitimate sorts of income.
00:19:09.180 The FBI arresting Love and Chan at the Boise airport on August 24th.
00:19:13.980 Investigators saying Love was in Idaho to meet new targets.
00:19:17.380 The Bureau believing there are more victims and urging anyone who may have been caught in the alleged scheme to come forward.
00:19:25.080 That'll do it for your AM Update.
