00:00:30.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Emily Jashinski, host of After Party, filling in for Megyn Kelly today.
00:00:37.900 It's Thursday, September 18th, 2025, and this is your AM update.
00:00:42.600 Kimmel is out! Disney's ABC indefinitely yanking the bitter late-night host's show following vile remarks relating to Charlie Kirk's assassination.
00:00:52.980 The CDC is the cause of vaccine hesitancy, that you are the problem.
00:00:58.000 Recently fired former CDC Director Susan Menares battles with Republicans on the Hill over vaccine mandates.
00:01:05.500 And Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s efforts to restore transparency to government health institutions.
00:01:12.180 Has anyone released more information on Epstein than I have? Has anyone?
00:01:16.000 Democrats doubling down on the Epstein inquiry in an FBI oversight hearing.
00:01:20.640 And President Trump visits the King of England in a day full of pomp and circumstance.
00:01:24.660 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM update.
00:01:31.660 You know all those fad diets? Half of Americans do them.
00:01:35.560 And if you do it enough, you could be at risk of diabetes, liver damage, heart attack, and stroke.
00:01:39.940 Oh joy.
00:01:41.020 Weight cycling is when you lose 10 or more pounds, but then you put the pounds back, plus a couple more.
00:01:46.220 That puts tremendous strain on your organs and leads to serious health issues over the long haul.
00:01:52.740 Bottom line, most people need help to stop weight cycling.
00:01:56.400 And this is why I want to tell you about non-prescription lean created by doctors.
00:02:01.780 Now lean is an oral supplement.
00:02:04.020 It's not a GLP-1 injectable.
00:02:05.960 It uses studied ingredients, which lean says target weight loss in three powerful ways.
00:02:11.520 One, maintaining healthy blood sugar.
00:02:14.460 Two, helping control appetite and cravings.
00:02:18.380 And three, burning fat by converting it to energy.
00:02:22.660 And of course, burning fat helps keep the weight off.
00:02:24.680 So if you want to lose meaningful weight at a healthy pace and keep it off,
00:02:29.100 consider adding lean to your diet and exercise lifestyle.

00:02:41.520 Disney's ABC reportedly pulling Jimmy Kimmel's show indefinitely yesterday evening.
00:02:49.420 That news coming after Nextstar Media Group announced the company and its partner stations
00:02:54.420 would preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live beginning with last night's show.
00:02:59.400 Nextstar is the largest owner of local TV stations in America,
00:03:03.440 with more than 200 stations with a reach of 220 million people.
00:03:08.600 Nextstar releasing a statement, quote,
00:03:10.360 Mr. Kimmel's comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time
00:03:16.520 in our nation's political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions,
00:03:22.360 views, or values of the local communities in which we are located.
00:03:27.000 Kimmel on Monday spewing vitriolic comments about Charlie Kirk's assassination.
00:03:31.520 We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize
00:03:37.120 this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can
00:03:42.440 to score political points from it.
00:03:45.220 All of the evidence, which was readily available in the days before those comments were made,
00:03:50.300 completely contradicts Kimmel's statement.
00:03:52.760 The shooter etched the bullets with anti-fascist messages and references to transgender furry culture.
00:04:00.560 He was also in a relationship with a male partner, his own family telling authorities he had become
00:04:05.180 very political in recent years.
00:04:07.180 From Robinson's charging document, quote,
00:04:09.160 Robinson's mother explained that over the last year or so, Robinson had become more political
00:04:14.720 and had started to lean more to the left, becoming more pro-gay and trans rights oriented.
00:04:19.920 The charging document also says Robinson accused Kirk of spreading hate.
00:04:24.920 And in the day since, with even more evidence coming to light,
00:04:28.260 not a word of apology or retraction from Kimmel.
00:04:32.400 Earlier on Thursday, Federal Communications Commissioner Brendan Carr appearing on The Benny Show,
00:04:37.720 calling for action.
00:04:38.440 We can do this the easy way or the hard way.
00:04:41.580 These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, frankly, on Kimmel,
00:04:48.460 or, you know, there's going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.
00:04:51.780 Look, there's calls for Kimmel to be fired.
00:04:54.940 I think, you know, you could certainly see a path forward for suspension over this.
00:05:00.940 You could make a strong argument that this is sort of an intentional effort to mislead the American people
00:05:06.880 about a very core fundamental fact to a very important matter.
00:05:11.380 Disney needs to see some change here.
00:05:13.160 But the individual licensed stations that are taking their content,
00:05:16.760 it's time for them to step up and say this, you know, garbage,
00:05:20.580 to the extent that that's what comes down the pipe in the future,
00:05:23.460 isn't something that we think serves the needs of our local communities.
00:05:26.460 But this sort of status quo is obviously not acceptable where we are.
00:05:29.900 You know, this is a very, very, you know, serious issue right now for Disney.
00:05:33.920 Carr posting to X on Thursday, quote,
00:05:36.500 I want to thank Nextstar for doing the right thing.
00:05:39.580 Local broadcasters have an obligation to serve the public interest.
00:05:43.660 While this may be an unprecedented decision,
00:05:46.080 it is important for broadcasters to push back on Disney programming
00:05:50.080 that they determine falls short of community values.
00:05:52.980 I hope that other broadcasters follow Nextstar's lead.
00:05:56.780 Since the announcement, a 2017 tweet of Kirk's going viral, quote,
00:06:02.000 Jimmy Kimmel isn't funny.
00:06:04.220 Well said, Charlie.
00:06:07.340 Fired CDC Director Susan Menares appearing yesterday
00:06:10.380 before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee,
00:06:13.620 the body responsible for overseeing HHS.
00:06:16.240 Menares was dismissed from her position last month,
00:06:19.000 about one month after her Senate confirmation,
00:06:21.280 over vaccine policy disputes with Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,
00:06:26.360 Democrats, not a single one of whom voted to confirm Menares,
00:06:30.460 rallying around her now that she has become a resistance symbol.
00:06:35.160 I want to thank you for your courage.
00:06:36.480 I also want to thank you for your commitment to the truth.
00:06:39.520 I had concern about your backbone, and I was wrong.
00:06:42.000 And I apologize to you for being wrong.
00:06:44.720 You are standing up for science, standing up for facts,
00:06:47.560 standing up for the protections which our children and families need.
00:06:51.380 In yesterday's hearing, Menares clinging to her position that she was fired for refusing
00:06:56.200 to compromise her integrity as a member of the scientific community.
00:07:00.760 I heard concerns that the ACIP might alter childhood vaccine schedule at its September meeting,
00:07:06.640 potentially without credible supporting data.
00:07:09.640 On the morning of August 25th, Secretary Kennedy demanded two things of me.
00:07:15.600 They were inconsistent with my oath of office and the ethics required of a public official.
00:07:20.860 He directed me to commit in advance to approving every ACIP recommendation,
00:07:26.860 regardless of the scientific evidence.
00:07:29.100 He also directed me to dismiss career officials responsible for vaccine policy without cause.
00:07:36.780 He said if I was unwilling to do both, I should resign.
00:07:40.680 Even under pressure, I could not replace evidence with ideology or compromise my integrity.
00:07:46.880 Top advisor to RFKJ, Callie Means, posting on X, quote,
00:07:50.740 she refused to fire employees who were openly antagonistic to the agenda Americans voted for.
00:07:56.940 The crisis of trust at the CDC is not because of Secretary Kennedy.
00:08:01.060 He was brought in to fix it, and he is winning.
00:08:04.300 A June poll from Axios Ipsos finding 62% of Americans have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the CDC,
00:08:11.180 about a 25% drop from March of 2020 when 88% of Americans trusted the CDC.
00:08:18.740 One of Menares' chief complaints against Secretary Kennedy,
00:08:22.460 the dismissal of the entire Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices,
00:08:26.360 Secretary Kennedy replacing the entire panel,
00:08:29.540 citing the dismissed group's conflicts of interest and the need to restore public trust.
00:08:34.380 According to a press release, each member of the committee had been appointed by the Biden administration,
00:08:39.600 preventing the Trump administration from choosing a majority of the committee until 2028.
00:08:45.080 Secretary Kennedy's HHS accusing the previous administration of making a, quote,
00:08:49.100 concerted effort to lock in public health ideology and limit the incoming administration's ability
00:08:54.920 to take the proper actions to restore public trust in vaccines.
00:08:59.440 Republican Senator from Kansas Roger Marshall, also a physician,
00:09:02.940 yesterday saying the CDC is the cause of growing vaccine hesitancy nationwide.
00:09:07.760 The CDC is the cause of vaccine hesitancy, that you are the problem,
00:09:13.720 that because of COVID and you're forcing these vaccines on people that weren't ever really proven or justified,
00:09:21.320 that the benefits didn't outweigh the risk,
00:09:23.500 and you all sat there with your hands in your pockets and you let that happen.
00:09:27.100 As questions about the COVID shock grew, so too did questions about vaccines.
00:09:31.160 Kentucky Senator Republican Rand Paul, also a doctor,
00:09:35.100 zeroing in on the vaccine committee members,
00:09:37.460 Menara says she was asked to fire without cause.
00:09:40.200 Senator Paul focusing on the hepatitis B vaccine,
00:09:43.400 typically administered to newborns on their first day of life,
00:09:46.800 regardless of their mother's status.
00:09:48.740 Critics question the practice, given hepatitis B is primarily spread through sexual contact
00:09:53.360 and exposure to infected blood.
00:09:56.040 What is the medical reason for giving a hepatitis B vaccine to a newborn?
00:09:59.940 See, everybody's like blithely going along,
00:10:02.480 we can't change the childhood.
00:10:04.240 You're somehow terrible if you want to change the childhood.
00:10:06.700 We should be discussing what is the childhood vaccine schedule,
00:10:11.300 and you should be, the burden should be on you.
00:10:13.820 You want to make all the kids take this?
00:10:15.700 The burden is upon you and the people you wouldn't fire to prove to us
00:10:19.560 that we need to give our six-month-old a COVID vaccine
00:10:22.620 and that we need to give our one-day-old a hepatitis B vaccine.
00:10:26.040 That's what the debate ought to be about,
00:10:27.440 not whether all vaccines are good or whether we live in Alice in the Wonderland.
00:10:31.660 I actually agree with you, and I was open to the science.
00:10:35.220 I just would not pre-commit to approving all the ACIP recommendations without the science.
00:10:41.200 Untrue.
00:10:41.640 The newly formed Vaccine Advisory Committee is set to meet later today
00:10:46.100 to discuss childhood vaccine schedule recommendations,
00:10:49.640 including COVID-19 and hepatitis B.
00:10:54.140 The Federal Reserve Board of Governors on Wednesday
00:10:56.340 voting to cut interest rates by a quarter of a point,
00:10:59.600 down to a range of 4 to 4.25 percent.
00:11:02.680 Fed Chair Jerome Powell citing weak job growth as the primary factor.
00:11:06.060 A recent revision showing job gains under President Biden were much
00:11:09.680 softer than originally predicted.
00:11:11.920 This marking the first rate cut since President Trump took office.
00:11:15.560 Mr. Trump waging an intense public pressure campaign for months,
00:11:19.840 urging the Fed to cut rates in order to spur economic growth and ease borrowing costs.
00:11:25.200 The final vote coming in at 11 to 1.
00:11:27.960 The only dissenting vote from Stephen Myron sworn in earlier this week.
00:11:32.540 Myron favoring a larger half-point cut.
00:11:34.900 But embattled Fed Governor Lisa Cook present for the vote
00:11:37.720 as an appellate court temporarily blocked her firing.
00:11:41.140 Markets closing out with a mixed response,
00:11:43.300 the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ending the day in the red,
00:11:46.340 the Dow closing in the green.
00:11:48.040 Fed officials indicating two more cuts likely to come later this year
00:11:51.420 at the October and December meetings.
00:11:54.700 Coming up, FBI Director Cash Patel clashes with Democrats on the Hill over Epstein,
00:11:59.240 and the royal family rolls out the red carpet
00:12:01.620 for President Trump's second state visit.

00:13:18.640 FBI Director Cash Patel appearing yesterday
00:13:24.660 before the House Judiciary Committee
00:13:26.520 for round two of questioning.
00:13:28.680 House Democrats largely focusing on Jeffrey Epstein,
00:13:31.920 leading to several combative moments.
00:13:34.600 Here are some exchanges with Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin
00:13:37.400 and New York Congressman Dan Goldman.
00:13:39.480 Has anyone released more information on Epstein than I have?
00:13:43.260 Has anyone?
00:13:44.060 Did Comey?
00:13:44.860 Did Ray?
00:13:45.340 Much more.
00:13:46.160 Did they?
00:13:46.920 Excuse me.
00:13:47.700 Much more has come out in the days
00:13:49.680 since the American people in Congress
00:13:51.160 have been demanding it,
00:13:52.240 but it's coming out in dribs and drabs.
00:13:54.080 Why don't you just release the entire file
00:13:55.820 as you promised to do?
00:13:57.620 I literally just told you.
00:13:59.100 There are multiple federal court orders.
00:14:01.200 I'm not going to break the law
00:14:02.420 to satisfy your curiosity.
00:14:04.360 You didn't join us when we filed court
00:14:06.420 to release the court orders.
00:14:08.240 You could have.
00:14:09.140 You have lawyers.
00:14:10.040 You could have shown up.
00:14:11.120 You didn't do that.
00:14:12.220 We are releasing as much as legally allowed.
00:14:14.760 That's why we went back to court.
00:14:15.520 How is that not legally allowed?
00:14:18.000 Sir, do you know how court orders work?
00:14:19.920 Do you know how protective orders work?
00:14:21.140 Actually, Mr. Patel,
00:14:22.260 I was a real prosecutor for 10 years.
00:14:24.700 I know exactly how court orders.
00:14:25.700 Oh, so I was a fake one?
00:14:27.100 And I want to understand
00:14:28.420 what the court order prevents you
00:14:31.340 from releasing witness statements
00:14:33.000 that the FBI took.
00:14:34.460 You should know that as a real prosecutor
00:14:36.400 when the court hand downs
00:14:37.660 a protective order
00:14:38.540 and a motion to seal,
00:14:39.840 the material is sealed
00:14:41.200 unless that judge leaves it.
00:14:43.760 Elsewhere in the hearing,
00:14:44.880 Republican congressman
00:14:45.820 from Texas, Chip Roy,
00:14:47.340 pressuring Director Patel
00:14:48.640 on the vast network
00:14:49.940 of well-funded NGOs
00:14:51.400 and nonprofits
00:14:52.280 working to usurp
00:14:53.700 American values.
00:14:55.200 Congressman Roy
00:14:55.780 pointing to a recent study
00:14:56.920 exposing George Soros' influence
00:14:59.420 on left-wing prosecutors' offices
00:15:01.580 across the country.
00:15:02.540 A significant amount of the money
00:15:04.120 flowing out of George Soros
00:15:06.160 and other leftist organizations
00:15:08.400 and funders
00:15:09.320 has been funding DAs
00:15:10.720 and prosecutors,
00:15:11.820 and these progressive district attorneys
00:15:13.100 have outsourced core parts
00:15:14.660 of the American criminal justice system
00:15:16.200 to activists and political donors,
00:15:19.140 taking direction and advice
00:15:20.600 on everything from staffing decisions
00:15:22.360 and communications strategy.
00:15:24.700 Organizations,
00:15:25.420 it's a complex web of donors
00:15:27.860 going in through these organizations
00:15:29.760 to radical,
00:15:31.400 I put radical DAs
00:15:33.440 and prosecutors out there
00:15:34.540 putting criminals on the streets.
00:15:36.600 Does the FBI director agree
00:15:37.900 that this exists
00:15:39.100 and is a problem?
00:15:40.520 I will accept
00:15:41.120 the factual representation
00:15:42.140 and if that exists,
00:15:43.360 it is a problem.
00:15:44.260 We are following the money
00:15:45.220 in every organization
00:15:46.260 and every person
00:15:47.180 that is violating
00:15:49.020 the federal code
00:15:49.880 and it doesn't matter
00:15:50.940 what your background
00:15:51.920 or ideology is,
00:15:52.900 we are following the money
00:15:53.840 and when we have results
00:15:54.900 to recommend for prosecution
00:15:56.080 to the Department of Justice,
00:15:57.780 we will do that.
00:15:59.020 Republican Congressman
00:16:00.080 Brandon Gill,
00:16:01.180 also of Texas,
00:16:02.520 noting there have been instances
00:16:03.840 of political violence
00:16:05.080 emanating from both sides
00:16:06.440 of the aisle.
00:16:07.300 Congressman Gill
00:16:08.000 pointing out, however,
00:16:09.040 that the vast majority
00:16:10.260 of conservatives
00:16:10.820 squarely disavow
00:16:12.020 political violence.
00:16:13.080 According to a new YouGov poll,
00:16:14.820 25% of people
00:16:15.860 self-identified as very liberal
00:16:17.820 believe political violence
00:16:19.400 can sometimes be justified
00:16:21.040 compared to just 3%
00:16:22.960 of those who identify
00:16:24.080 as very conservative.
00:16:25.760 In the wake of Charlie Kirk's
00:16:26.900 assassination,
00:16:27.960 in which many people
00:16:29.000 openly celebrated his death
00:16:31.180 on social media,
00:16:32.840 Congressman Gill
00:16:33.420 asking Director Patel
00:16:34.600 what the FBI can do
00:16:36.160 to address the rising threat
00:16:38.100 of political violence.
00:16:39.880 We need to get online partnerships
00:16:42.760 with these companies
00:16:44.020 in the public space,
00:16:45.720 on these gaming sites,
00:16:46.920 and on these social media sites.
00:16:48.680 As I was saying earlier,
00:16:49.520 there is no way to triage
00:16:50.820 the amount of information
00:16:52.060 generated on these sites
00:16:53.840 by the FBI alone.
00:16:55.380 And we need the public-private partnership.
00:16:57.220 And there's another law
00:16:57.920 that's expiring,
00:16:58.700 I think,
00:16:58.960 at the end of this month,
00:16:59.880 which I believe we need renewed,
00:17:01.520 that allows private sector companies
00:17:03.120 to report into the FBI
00:17:04.440 without liability
00:17:05.300 for criminal and investigatory purposes.
00:17:07.580 And that's the kind of stuff
00:17:08.380 we need to keep going.
00:17:10.000 Tyler Robinson,
00:17:11.000 the suspect charged
00:17:12.080 with Kirk's assassination,
00:17:13.580 leaving a large digital footprint
00:17:15.440 in his wake.
00:17:16.620 Investigators looking
00:17:17.460 into online chat rooms
00:17:18.880 to determine whether others
00:17:20.360 knew about plans
00:17:21.660 for the attack ahead of time.
00:17:23.640 House Oversight Committee Chairman
00:17:24.880 James Comer
00:17:25.720 inviting the CEOs
00:17:26.820 of some of these messaging platforms,
00:17:29.520 Discord, Stream, Twitch,
00:17:31.280 and Reddit,
00:17:32.080 to testify in early October.

00:17:39.840 where they are expected
00:17:40.800 to sign a tech investment deal
00:17:42.960 before holding
00:17:43.920 a joint press conference.
00:17:45.740 This comes after a day
00:17:46.920 full of royal pomp
00:17:48.100 and circumstance,
00:17:49.640 King Charles yesterday
00:17:50.520 honoring President Trump
00:17:51.860 with an unprecedented
00:17:53.160 second state visit.
00:17:55.440 President Trump
00:17:56.080 and First Lady Melania
00:17:57.320 welcomed to Windsor Castle,
00:17:59.480 awaiting them
00:18:00.080 the largest military ceremony
00:18:02.340 in living memory.
00:18:04.560 1,300 British service members
00:18:07.100 decked out
00:18:08.120 in the iconic red uniforms
00:18:09.700 and more than 100 horses
00:18:11.700 utilized in the ceremonial welcome.
00:18:14.000 The royal family
00:18:14.720 pulling out all the stops
00:18:16.180 ahead of important
00:18:17.080 political discussions
00:18:18.140 centering around
00:18:19.100 key trade deals
00:18:20.180 and bringing an end
00:18:21.500 to the war in Ukraine.
00:18:23.180 Prince William
00:18:23.740 and Princess Catherine
00:18:24.840 greeting the President
00:18:25.820 and First Lady
00:18:26.520 as they arrived
00:18:27.400 on castle grounds
00:18:28.520 in Marine One.
00:18:30.360 President Trump
00:18:31.000 then joining King Charles
00:18:32.220 in a horse-drawn carriage
00:18:33.940 procession through the grounds,
00:18:35.780 followed by Melania
00:18:36.640 and Queen Camilla
00:18:37.620 in a carriage of their own,
00:18:39.200 flanked by dozens
00:18:40.380 of mounted troops.
00:18:42.120 President Trump
00:18:42.700 then laying a wreath
00:18:44.020 at the final resting site
00:18:45.480 of Queen Elizabeth II.
00:18:47.260 In the afternoon,
00:18:48.320 the monarch honoring
00:18:49.360 President Trump
00:18:50.040 with another first,
00:18:51.460 a musical ceremony
00:18:52.460 called the Beating Retreat.
00:18:54.540 200 military band members
00:19:00.520 performing a now purely
00:19:01.740 ceremonial piece
00:19:02.700 dating back to the 17th century,
00:19:04.760 symbolizing when troops
00:19:05.560 on the battlefield
00:19:06.200 were called to end fighting
00:19:07.980 and return to camp
00:19:09.120 for the night.
00:19:10.000 The afternoon ceremony
00:19:11.120 concluding with a

00:19:16.280 The royals then hosting
00:19:17.140 a state banquet
00:19:18.020 in the evening.
00:19:19.140 Of course,
00:19:19.580 the visit not without
00:19:20.460 some controversy.
00:19:21.460 Approximately 20 miles
