00:00:30.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Megyn Kelly.

00:00:55.820 in a stunning, though anticipated, race against a former governor.
00:01:00.620 Here in New Jersey, we know that this nation has not ever been,
00:01:06.140 nor will it ever be, ruled by kings.
00:01:09.160 In New Jersey, Democrat Mikey Sherrill beats Republican Jack Cittarelli.
00:01:13.620 And in Virginia, Abigail Spanberger easily beats winsome Earl Sears. 0.77
00:01:18.380 And the man who wants to see Republicans dead becomes the next attorney general there.
00:01:23.500 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.
00:01:26.860 When customers are walking through the aisles of their local Walmart,
00:01:34.660 they're not just picking up groceries or supplies.
00:01:37.180 They're supporting American businesses and their communities.
00:01:40.380 The real story is what's behind the label.
00:01:42.720 With over two-thirds of the products Walmart buys made, grown, or assembled right here in the U.S.,
00:01:48.040 buying local is not just stocking shelves.
00:01:50.060 It's about strengthening communities.
00:01:52.060 Because of that commitment, Walmart invested $350 billion in U.S. manufacturing,
00:01:58.760 helping American companies like Fisher & Weezer Specialty Foods, a local Texas business,
00:02:03.940 expand their operations in Fredericksburg, Texas,
00:02:07.580 hire more people, and bring their Texas-grown peach jam to a national market.
00:02:12.320 Their story is just one example of how Walmart's U.S. manufacturing investment
00:02:15.900 is supporting over 750,000 American jobs.
00:02:19.620 Businesses across the country are empowered to sell more, hire more, and help their communities grow.
00:02:25.580 From farms to factories to final shopping carts,
00:02:28.040 learn how Walmart is fueling the future of U.S. manufacturing
00:02:31.920 at walmart.com slash americaatwork.
00:02:38.240 Within minutes of the polls closing in New York City, all kinds of history was made.
00:02:43.240 Zoran Mamdani, the 34-year-old self-described Democratic Socialist and Muslim,
00:02:47.860 becoming the projected winner of the mayoral election, according to Decision Desk HQ.
00:02:53.980 The Associated Press taking a little bit more time, calling the race about 40 minutes past the hour.
00:02:59.220 With the highest turnout in decades, Mamdani defeating disgraced former Democratic Governor
00:03:03.740 Andrew Cuomo in a seismic shift of New York politics.
00:03:07.460 Mamdani energizing New York voters with a slick social media campaign and lofty promises,
00:03:13.360 including rent freezes, free city bus rides, and city-run grocery stores.
00:03:18.860 It's all going to be free, he told them.
00:03:21.120 Free everything.
00:03:22.640 Mamdani celebrating the win in a room packed with supporters at the Brooklyn Paramount Theater.
00:03:27.580 For as long as we can remember, the working people of New York have been told by the wealthy
00:03:34.940 and the well-connected that power does not belong in their hands.
00:03:38.980 Fingers bruised from lifting boxes on the warehouse floor, palms calloused from delivery
00:03:45.580 bike handlebars, knuckles scarred with kitchen burns.
00:03:49.980 These are not hands that have been allowed to hold power.
00:03:53.620 And yet, over the last 12 months, you have dared to reach for something greater.
00:04:00.080 Tonight, against all odds, we have grasped it.
00:04:04.960 The future is in our hands.
00:04:08.280 My friends, we have toppled a political dynasty.
00:04:12.440 New York, tonight you have delivered a mandate for change.
00:04:18.240 A mandate for a new kind of politics.
00:04:22.300 A mandate for a city we can afford.
00:04:25.260 And a mandate for a government that delivers exactly that.
00:04:29.520 Cuomo, who was once the most powerful Democrat in the state, but ran a stilted, cold, arthritic
00:04:35.540 campaign, delivering remarks following his failed comeback bid.
00:04:39.920 This campaign was the right fight to wage.
00:04:44.580 And I am proud of what we did and what we did together.
00:04:50.100 This campaign was to contest the philosophies that are shaping the Democratic Party, the
00:04:59.960 future of this city, and the future of this country.
00:05:03.860 And this coalition transcended normal partisan politics.
00:05:09.960 It brought together Democrats and Republicans and independents, joined by the simple fact that
00:05:17.500 their first allegiance is as citizens of New York City.
00:05:22.160 Curtis Sliwa, the Republican candidate who refused all calls to drop out of the race, even though
00:05:28.200 everyone knew he had no chance, failing to secure even 10 percent of the vote.
00:05:33.460 Still, for those like Bill Ackman, who blamed Sliwa for the Mamdani victory, it appears Mamdani 0.98
00:05:39.040 will win with more votes than Cuomo and Sliwa combined.
00:05:44.200 Fellow socialist and U.S.
00:05:45.880 Senator of Vermont, Bernie Sanders, defining this moment as a reshaping of the Democrat Party.
00:05:51.280 He has taken on the oligarchs in New York who have spent millions and millions of dollars
00:05:56.060 trying to defeat him.
00:05:57.600 He is taking on the Democratic establishment.
00:06:00.260 So I think this young man deserves an enormous amount of credit for running a brilliant campaign.
00:06:05.660 Radio host Hugh Hewitt on Fox News last night with a dark prediction.
00:06:10.200 It's going to be a bad hangover for Democrats because Comrade Mamdani is not just a communist.
00:06:16.540 He's an anti-Semitic communist.
00:06:18.940 And he is going to cause international incidents. 0.85
00:06:22.060 He doesn't know how to run anything.
00:06:23.760 I keep making this point to people.
00:06:25.760 He's run at most an office of 10 people.
00:06:28.880 300,000 people work for the city of New York.
00:06:31.840 I know it's hard to believe when 155,000 people work for the entire state government in New York,
00:06:37.200 300,000 people work for Manhattan and the four other boroughs.
00:06:40.340 So I'm telling you, it's a disaster that's going to unfold in real time.
00:06:45.260 Republican Ari Fleischer predicting on Fox News every Democrat running in the midterms
00:06:50.260 will now be saddled with the Mamdani problem as he taxes the rich, 0.80
00:06:54.900 provides trans procedures to all on the taxpayer dime,
00:06:59.040 and sends social workers to domestic violence calls.
00:07:02.720 Good luck, New York.
00:07:03.760 In New Jersey, Democrat Congresswoman Mikey Sherrill beating New Jersey businessman Jack Chattarelli with ease.
00:07:12.300 Despite Chattarelli appearing to close the gap in the final weeks of the race,
00:07:16.320 Sherrill's strategy of tying her opponent closely to President Trump worked to her advantage. 0.99
00:07:22.140 Polls simply wrong in this race, 1.00
00:07:24.420 showing a margin of error battle in multiple surveys ahead of Election Day,
00:07:28.520 when Sherrill will win by double digits.
00:07:30.980 Here she is addressing supporters.
00:07:32.380 This was a tough fight, and this is a tough state.
00:07:36.620 But I know you, New Jersey, and I love you.
00:07:39.960 We know that no one in our great state is safe when our neighbors are targeted,
00:07:44.800 ignoring the law and the Constitution.
00:07:47.440 But prosperity is equally essential.
00:07:49.680 Liberty alone is not enough if the government makes it impossible for you to feed your family,
00:07:54.840 to get a good education, or to get a good job.
00:07:57.360 So in this country, that shouldn't be too much to ask.
00:08:00.840 But right now, all of it seems at risk.
00:08:03.820 Governors have never mattered more.
00:08:06.220 Here in New Jersey, we know that this nation has not ever been, nor will it ever be, ruled by kings.
00:08:14.680 We take oaths to a Constitution, not a king.
00:08:17.960 Jack Chattarelli delivering his closing remarks.
00:08:20.460 Listen, guys, nobody is more disappointed than I am.
00:08:24.700 But I'm proud of the efforts of my team that are here tonight.
00:08:28.360 As John F. Kennedy once said, life's not always fair.
00:08:31.960 But I am proud of the effort we put forth.
00:08:34.500 I'm proud of the message we communicated each and every day.
00:08:37.860 It is my hope that Mikey Sherrill has heard us in terms of what we need to do to make New Jersey that place
00:08:46.280 where everybody can once again feel they can achieve their American dream.
00:08:50.060 Thanks for nothing, New Jersey.
00:08:51.700 Lucy pulled the football again. 1.00
00:08:55.460 Coming up, a big night for Dems, a look at Virginia, California, and Minneapolis.
00:09:00.480 Streaming November 16th on Paramount+, it is the return of Landman, TV's biggest phenomenon from Taylor Sheridan,
00:09:15.240 co-creator of Yellowstone.
00:09:17.400 Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton is back as Tommy Norris and managing higher stakes than ever before.
00:09:23.360 It features an all-star cast, including Academy Award nominees Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, and Sam Elliott.
00:09:29.580 In the wake of his former boss's passing, tensions come to a head as Tommy and Demi Moore's character,
00:09:35.740 Cammie Miller, struggle to maintain control of EmTech's oil. 0.70
00:09:39.480 And with his father, played by Sam Elliott, coming back into his life,
00:09:44.200 Tommy must juggle both of his roles as an oil man and a family man as pressure builds and his worlds collide.
00:09:50.860 Do not miss the hit series everyone is talking about.
00:09:54.060 Landman's new season starts streaming November 16th only on Paramount+.
00:09:59.580 It didn't take long in Virginia, Decision Desk HQ making the call at 7.19 p.m.,
00:10:06.800 projecting Democrat Abigail Spanberger as the next governor with only a sliver of the votes counted.
00:10:13.120 Spanberger will be the first female governor of Virginia,
00:10:16.240 defeating Republican Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earl Sears to succeed outgoing Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin.
00:10:22.480 Both the House of Delegates and the state Senate will remain under Democrat control,
00:10:28.180 meaning Virginia is a solid blue state for the next two years.
00:10:32.540 Spanberger striking a centrist tone in her victory remarks tonight, focusing largely on economics and unity.
00:10:39.260 We sent a message to the whole world that in 2025,
00:10:46.400 Virginia chose pragmatism over partisanship. 1.00
00:10:50.480 We chose our commonwealth over chaos.
00:10:54.640 The lieutenant governor's story, her military service,
00:10:58.780 and her years of service here in Virginia deserve our respect and our gratitude.
00:11:03.920 And I ask that you join me in wishing her and her family well.
00:11:08.380 And to those Virginians who did not vote for me,
00:11:12.860 I want you to know that my goal and my intent is to serve all Virginians.
00:11:19.260 We are going to work to lower costs of renting, buying, or staying in your home.
00:11:24.940 We're going to lower health care costs.
00:11:27.000 We're going to crack down on predatory pharmaceutical practices and surprise billing.
00:11:31.240 And we're going to produce more energy.
00:11:35.160 We are going to take politics out of our schools.
00:11:39.260 As for her promise to take politics out of schools, 0.63
00:11:42.260 Spanberger during the campaign dodging questions on boys and girls sports and locker rooms on the campaign trail,
00:11:48.460 responding with vague answers about local decision making,
00:11:52.500 struggling to articulate a clear policy,
00:11:55.500 sidestepping the issue, allowing mainstream media to brand Spanberger as the model Democrat.
00:12:01.240 Spanberger's win coming even as her party dealt with a serious controversy stemming from shocking texts sent in 2022 by Attorney General Candidate Jay Jones.
00:12:12.260 In the messages made public in a report by National Review,
00:12:15.680 he wrote that he wished then-Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert in Virginia would get, quote, 0.97
00:12:21.480 two bullets in the head, 0.95
00:12:22.760 and later expressed a wish that Gilbert's children would die in their mother's arms so that the lawmaker might reconsider his policies.
00:12:29.860 In the end, Virginia Democrats saying,
00:12:32.900 we're good with him.
00:12:34.220 Jones winning the Attorney General race by about five points.
00:12:38.080 Here's Jones last night.
00:12:39.740 And I want to thank every Virginian tonight who's placed their trust in me.
00:12:44.300 This was a hard-fought campaign.
00:12:46.060 But at the end of the day, this election has never been about me or my opponent.
00:12:52.080 It has always been about every single one of us and the future of Virginia.
00:12:56.180 And this election, this victory is for you.
00:13:01.700 In California, Prop 50, a ballot measure tossing out the state's Independent Redistricting Commission
00:13:07.740 in order to redraw congressional maps in a manner heavily favoring Democrats,
00:13:12.620 locking in more blue seats through the 2030 election cycle,
00:13:16.140 a move that could directly affect who controls the U.S. House of Representatives,
00:13:20.700 voters deciding to support Governor Gavin Newsom's gerrymandering effort.
00:13:24.640 In Minneapolis, a closely-watched mayoral race between incumbent Jacob Fry,
00:13:31.060 a Democrat progressive going for a third term,
00:13:34.080 who got outflanked to his left by 35-year-old Somali-American Omar Fateh,
00:13:40.380 whose rallies at times looked like they were literally taking place in Somalia.
00:13:45.100 He is a current state senator.
00:13:47.020 This one locked in a close matchup as the ranked-choice ballot counting continues into the night.
00:13:52.820 We'll have in-depth coverage of what all of this means for America on The Megyn Kelly Show.
00:14:01.540 And that'll do it for your AM update.
