00:00:44.340 The search for missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continues
00:00:47.540 as investigators return to her home several times throughout the weekend,
00:00:51.820 while her children make another direct plea to whomever took their mother.
00:00:55.900 No, I didn't make a mistake.
00:00:57.460 I come in and give, I look at a lot of thousands of things.
00:01:01.380 I looked at the beginning of it, it was fine.
00:01:03.580 A Trump truth social post sparks bipartisan backlash and a rare deletion.
00:01:09.180 A terrifying crash for Lindsey Vonn, the Olympic legend,
00:01:12.520 airlifted off the mountain after her downhill run in Italy comes to an end.
00:01:16.780 And the Seattle Seahawks crowned the champs at last night's Super Bowl,
00:01:21.200 the biggest plays, and the dueling halftime shows.
00:01:24.160 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.

00:02:30.300 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of NBC News host Savannah Guthrie,
00:02:35.360 now missing for more than a week.
00:02:37.340 As investigators say, no suspects, no persons of interest, no vehicles have been identified.
00:02:43.320 New developments unfolding throughout the weekend beginning Friday,
00:02:46.360 when a second message, purportedly from the alleged kidnapper,
00:02:50.500 was received by local Tucson station KOLD.
00:02:54.360 Investigators have not publicly said whether they believe the new message is credible.
00:02:58.840 The message reportedly does not share the same IP address as the original ransom note sent last week.
00:03:05.040 However, it appears the sender used the same type of secure server to hide their IP address,
00:03:11.000 according to KOLD anchor Mary Coleman,
00:03:13.180 who also says the sender tries to make clear that they were behind the first ransom note as well.
00:03:19.540 Retired FBI agent Jeff Bennett explaining on reporter Brian Enten's show what an IP address is
00:03:25.480 and how it can be hidden with a virtual private network or VPN,
00:03:29.980 making investigators' jobs more difficult.
00:03:32.280 There's a lot of talk of, you know, these KFR,
00:03:36.500 kidnap for ransom messages coming in.
00:03:38.420 And quite simply, they are being, from what I understand,
00:03:41.460 they're being communicated through email.
00:03:44.240 And so that email is coming in through an IP address.
00:03:47.000 And for the viewers, an IP address is quite simply a bridge.
00:03:50.840 It's a bridge from a user to an endpoint.
00:03:54.620 So an IP address is owned by a company.
00:03:59.940 And so as the FBI, if I can determine where that bridge is and who owns that bridge,
00:04:06.180 I can go to that company and I can say, hey, who's on the other side of that bridge?
00:04:11.000 But the problem with a VPN is it's not just one bridge that I have to figure out.
00:04:16.560 It's a thousand bridges.
00:04:17.880 So I have to cross one bridge and then I have to cross a thousand other bridges.
00:04:22.800 So one of the local TV stations that received the first note and then the second note,
00:04:27.040 their news director said the notes didn't come in through an email per se.
00:04:32.260 They have like a form on their website where you can submit news tips.
00:04:35.640 So you fill out your name, you fill out the subject, you fill out, you know what I mean?
00:04:40.160 And then it's like a form on the website.
00:04:42.640 Yeah.
00:04:42.980 So that's still going to use an IP address.
00:04:46.020 Also on Friday, six days into Nancy's disappearance, investigators discovering
00:04:51.000 and removing another camera from Nancy Guthrie's property, this one from her roof.
00:04:57.500 Later that day, investigators also towing away what appears to be a blue Subaru from Nancy
00:05:02.080 Guthrie's garage.
00:05:03.800 President Trump Friday on Air Force One updating reporters on the investigation
00:05:08.060 conducted in tandem between the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI.
00:05:13.220 Did you have promised Savannah Guthrie's family the full support of federal law enforcement?
00:05:18.200 The FBI is now...
00:05:19.200 I'll give you a little statement.
00:05:20.720 I think we're doing very well on that regard.
00:05:23.520 You're probably surprised to hear that.
00:05:26.040 I think we're doing very well.
00:05:27.800 Very well meeting.
00:05:29.280 We have some clues, I think, that are very strong.
00:05:31.460 And I think we could have some answers coming up fairly soon.
00:05:36.020 Is this a nationwide search?
00:05:37.400 Is this a search going to Mexico?
00:05:38.920 I'm not talking about a search.
00:05:39.700 I'm talking about a solution.
00:05:42.260 We have some things, I think, that will maybe come out reasonably soon from DOJ or FBI or whoever
00:05:50.480 that could be, uh, suspect?
00:05:54.760 Yeah, it could be definitive.
00:05:56.280 Yes.
00:05:56.600 A lot has taken place in the last couple of hours.
00:05:59.220 A lot of, a lot of things have happened with regard to that horrible situation in the last couple of hours.
00:06:06.460 Exactly what the president was referring to remains unclear.
00:06:09.540 On Saturday, Savannah and siblings Cameron and Annie releasing another video plea.
00:06:15.320 We received your message, and we understand.
00:06:20.180 We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her.
00:06:26.680 This is the only way we will have peace.
00:06:29.960 This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.
00:06:34.780 KGUN now reporting the original ransom note demands $6 million due by 5 p.m. this evening.
00:06:41.720 Late Saturday night, investigators entering Annie's home for several hours.
00:06:46.520 Journalists on the scene report seeing camera flashes through the windows.
00:06:50.200 The family reportedly moved elsewhere earlier last week.
00:06:54.180 Yesterday, investigators returning again to Nancy's home, searching the backyard area.
00:06:59.780 One investigator is seen searching in what looked like an open manhole.
00:07:03.980 It is unclear if the pipe leads to a septic tank, water storage, or some type of drainage pipe.
00:07:08.840 Reporters also spotting a topographical map of the area used by investigators as the Pima County Sheriff's Department confirms searches underway in multiple locations.
00:07:19.860 FBI Director Cash Patel reportedly set to arrive in Tucson today, though the Bureau says it was part of a pre-planned trip.
00:07:26.440 Investigators have also not publicly clarified several unresolved questions, including the full data that has been recovered from Nancy's pacemaker,
00:07:35.820 what proof exists that she actually returned home under her own power the night she disappeared,
00:07:41.800 and whether any family members have been asked to submit to polygraph examinations.
00:07:46.680 We'll bring you the very latest on The Megyn Kelly Show later today.
00:07:49.480 A post on President Trump's Truth Social account sparking bipartisan backlash after briefly displaying an image depicting former President Barack Obama
00:08:00.160 and former First Lady Michelle Obama with her faces superimposed onto ape bodies. 0.89
00:08:06.400 The image appearing late Thursday in the final seconds of a video about alleged 2020 election fraud.
00:08:12.220 At the end of that election fraud clip, a separate video appears to autoplay for roughly one second.
00:08:19.540 The full autoplayed video, not posted on Trump's account, shows a number of Democrat political figures edited onto animal bodies,
00:08:27.440 while the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight plays, with President Trump depicted as the lion.
00:08:32.820 The brief frame captured from that autoplayed video, showing the Obamas depicted as apes,
00:08:38.520 quickly circulating online and drawing criticism from both Democrats and some Republicans.
00:08:44.660 Senator from South Carolina Tim Scott, the only black Republican in the Senate, posting to X,
00:08:49.320 quote,
00:08:50.000 Praying it was fake because it's the most racist thing I've seen out of this White House.
00:08:55.020 The president should remove it.
00:08:57.020 Senator Pete Ricketts, Republican from Nebraska, posting,
00:08:59.920 quote,
00:09:00.720 Even if this was a Lion King meme, a reasonable person sees the racist context to this.
00:09:06.300 The White House should do what anyone does when they make a mistake, remove this and apologize.
00:09:12.020 As backlash swelled, someone removing the post shortly before noon on Friday,
00:09:16.640 the White House releasing a statement, quote,
00:09:18.700 A White House staffer erroneously made the post.
00:09:21.440 It has been taken down.
00:09:23.260 President Trump Friday aboard Air Force One asked about the controversy.
00:09:27.440 Who sent it and are you going to fire?
00:09:29.220 I looked at it, no, I looked at it.
00:09:30.740 I saw it and I just looked at the first part.
00:09:32.940 It was about voter fraud in someplace, Georgia.
00:09:36.600 I guess during the end of it, there was some kind of a picture that people don't like.
00:09:42.180 I wouldn't like it either, but I didn't see it.
00:09:43.800 I just, I looked at the first part and it was really about voter fraud and the machines,
00:09:49.220 how crooked it is, how disgusting it is.
00:09:51.340 And then I gave it to the people.
00:09:54.300 Generally, they'd look at the whole thing, but I guess somebody didn't.
00:09:57.460 And they posted and we took it down.
00:09:59.500 Mr. President, a number of Republicans are calling on you to apologize for that post.
00:10:04.240 Is that something you're going to do?
00:10:05.620 No, I didn't make a mistake.
00:10:06.940 I mean, you give, I look at a lot of thousands of things.
00:10:10.660 I looked at the beginning of it, it was fine.
00:10:12.600 But that was a takeoff of the Lion King.
00:10:15.100 And a lot of people were covered in different positions.
00:10:19.900 But I spoke to Tim Scott.
00:10:22.680 He was great.
00:10:24.020 Tim is a great guy.
00:10:25.020 He understood that 100%.
00:10:26.580 At the very least, do you condemn the racist parts of the video?
00:10:30.800 Of course I do.
00:10:32.300 From there, the establishment media, including but not limited to ABC, CBS, NPR, and more,
00:10:38.180 churning out headlines about Mr. Trump's refusal to apologize for the post.
00:10:42.600 And, of course, the controversy, a focus of the Sunday shows yesterday.
00:10:46.660 House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries yesterday on CNN.
00:10:50.420 I do want to ask about a video that President Trump shared, a racist video.
00:10:54.960 And it depicted former President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, as apes.
00:10:59.680 About 12 hours later, the White House blamed a staffer for the post, removed it.
00:11:04.300 But the president says he doesn't need to apologize because he didn't make a mistake.
00:11:10.280 He definitively needs to apologize.
00:11:11.640 It was a disgusting video.
00:11:15.840 And the president was rightly and appropriately and forcefully denounced by people all across
00:11:22.040 the country, Democrats and even a handful of Republicans who finally showed some backbone
00:11:28.440 in pushing back against the president's malignant, bottom-feeder-like behavior.
00:11:34.300 In the meantime, a clip of Texas State Representative Gene Wu, who was born in China, from a podcast
00:11:40.960 in 2024 getting new attention this weekend after Elon Musk reposted it, writing,
00:11:46.940 shame on him.
00:11:48.420 Many pointing out the hypocrisy of those, including some on the right, who rushed to condemn President
00:11:53.600 Trump for an errant post by a staffer that accidentally included a racist video, but who 0.95
00:11:59.860 allowed this kind of anti-white racism to go unchecked all the time.
00:12:04.400 I always tell people the day the Latino, African-American, Asian, and other communities realize that they are, that they share the same
00:12:14.800 oppressor is the day we start winning.
00:12:17.300 Because we are the majority in this country now.
00:12:20.000 We are, we have the ability to take over this country and to do what is needed for everyone and to make things fair.
00:12:26.780 But the problem is, our communities are divided.
00:12:30.020 They're completely divided.
00:12:31.460 The outrage over the president expected to continue until the next outrage, which will inevitably come any day now.
00:12:39.880 Coming up, U.S. Olympic skier Lindsey Bonn in a shocking crash during her downhill run.
00:12:45.800 And we have a Super Bowl champion.
00:12:48.400 We have a Super Bowl champion.
00:13:18.400 Request and writes the prescription and your medication ships straight to your door.
00:13:22.660 Doesn't that make sense?
00:13:24.180 Thanks to All Family Pharmacy, you won't be dealing with waiting rooms, insurance delays, last-minute scrambling, and they offer antibiotics, antivirals, Tamiflu, ivermectin, yes, and hundreds of other prescription meds.

00:13:48.400 Team USA skier Lindsey Bonn crashing just 13 seconds into her downhill run at the Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy.
00:13:57.820 Bonn's run, one of the most highly anticipated events of the Games, the 41-year-old returning from nearly six years in retirement, now competing with a partial titanium knee replacement in her right knee.
00:14:09.040 On top of that, just nine days before the race, Bonn crashing in Switzerland, rupturing her left ACL.
00:14:16.480 Bonn choosing to stay in the competition, but adding a knee brace to the uniform.
00:14:21.320 During yesterday's run, Bonn's right ski pole clipping a neon-orange gate, sending her airborne before crashing hard back onto the mountain, briefly disappearing in a cloud of snow before tumbling to a stop. 1.00
00:14:32.780 Medical crews securing Bonn in a gurney and airlifting her off the course.
00:14:38.180 After an initial stop at a clinic in Cortina, she was transported to a hospital about two hours away where doctors say she underwent an orthopedic operation to stabilize a fracture in her left leg.
00:14:49.560 U.S. ski and snowboard chief of sport, Anouk Patti, telling the Associated Press,
00:14:55.020 quote,
00:14:55.600 She'll be okay, but it's going to be a bit of a process.
00:14:58.800 This sport is brutal, and people need to remember when they're watching that these athletes are throwing themselves down a mountain and going really, really fast.
00:15:07.940 Bonn, a four-time World Cup champion, had been favored for gold before the earlier ACL crash, saying before the race,
00:15:15.140 quote,
00:15:15.520 This would be the best comeback I've done so far. Definitely the most dramatic.
00:15:20.160 Ultimately, Team USA's Breezy Johnson capturing the gold for America,
00:15:24.940 Johnson earning Team USA's first gold medal of these Olympics,
00:15:28.480 and becoming only the second American woman to win Olympic downhill gold,
00:15:33.140 the first since Lindsey Vonn's win in 2010.
00:15:37.440 As the American national anthem played and the stars and stripes were raised,
00:15:42.020 Breezy, with her hand on her heart in the number one spot on the winner's podium, sang and held back tears.
00:15:49.560 Perhaps unsurprising, but to many disappointing,
00:15:54.400 these games seeing a number of Team USA athletes, not like Breezy,
00:15:58.520 who are choosing to make political comments disparaging the country they are representing.
00:16:03.300 Figure skater Amber Glenn, who identifies as bisexual and pansexual, whatever that is,
00:16:08.840 becoming a prominent LGBTQ voice, asked about the Trump administration's approach to the LGBTQ plus community.
00:16:16.080 Yeah, it's been a hard time for the community overall under this administration.
00:16:22.000 It isn't the first time that we've had to come together as a community and try and fight for our human rights.
00:16:30.020 And now, especially, it's not just affecting the queer community, but many other communities.
00:16:36.820 And I think that we are able to support each other in a way that we didn't have to before.
00:16:45.280 And because of that, it's made us a lot stronger.
00:16:47.400 Glenn, notably, not addressing the many countries competing in these games where same-sex relationships remain criminalized.
00:16:55.460 Nor did she indicate which rights gay people have lost under the Trump administration,
00:17:00.100 which features several openly gay people in key positions.
00:17:04.660 Yesterday, Glenn coming in third in the women's free skate portion of the team event.
00:17:09.760 However, due to a strong performance from teammate Elia Malinan, Team USA securing the gold.
00:17:15.260 Former Team USA freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy now competing for Great Britain,
00:17:21.600 partly because that team is easier to make,
00:17:24.640 posting a vulgar anti-ice image to Instagram,
00:17:27.940 appearing to show the phrase F-ice written in urine.
00:17:32.260 Kenworthy is set to compete in the half-pipe event beginning February 19th,
00:17:36.620 where we certainly hope he'll lose.
00:17:39.360 The strongest backlash coming against U.S. freestyle skier Hunter Hess
00:17:43.700 after he made these comments at a Friday press conference.
00:17:47.780 It brings up mixed emotions to represent the U.S. right now, I think.
00:17:52.240 It's a little hard.
00:17:54.320 There's obviously a lot going on that I'm not the biggest fan of,
00:17:57.460 and I think a lot of people aren't.
00:18:00.320 I think for me, it's more I'm representing my friends and family back home,
00:18:04.400 the people that represent it before me,
00:18:06.300 all the things that I believe are good about the U.S.
00:18:10.220 I just think if it aligns with my moral values,
00:18:14.520 I feel like I'm representing it.
00:18:16.580 Just because I'm wearing the flag doesn't mean I represent everything that's going on in the U.S.
00:18:21.080 So, yeah, I just kind of want to do it for my friends and my family
00:18:24.760 and the people that support me getting here.
00:18:26.920 President Trump weighing in on Truth Social, writing,
00:18:29.140 quote, 0.97
00:18:29.660 U.S. Olympics skier Hunter Hess, a real loser, 0.62
00:18:32.960 says he doesn't represent his country in the current Winter Olympics.
00:18:36.980 If that's the case, he shouldn't have tried out for the team,
