00:04:42.820 the individual and so many others should have never been allowed to come here. 0.81

00:04:52.360 Secretary Noem Sunday on ABC saying investigators are working to determine the motive and sharing new details about the suspect.
00:05:01.020 And now since he's been here, we believe he could have been radicalized in his home community and in his home state.
00:05:07.100 So as we continue to talk to his family and his contacts,
00:05:11.200 more details will be revealed and we'll release those when it's appropriate.
00:05:14.380 So he came from Afghanistan and was radicalized in America?

00:05:23.340 The Associated Press reporting Saturday,
00:05:25.820 Lock and Wall had been struggling for years, quote,

00:05:36.440 The AP also reporting that a community advocate once contacted a refugee organization

00:06:03.860 who perpetrated this atrocity pays the steepest possible price.
00:06:08.900 This attack underscores the single greatest national security threat facing our nation.
00:06:15.300 The last administration let in 20 million unknown and unvetted foreigners 1.00
00:06:19.720 from all over the world, from places that you don't want to even know about.
00:06:24.080 No country can tolerate such a risk to our very survival.
00:06:29.340 On Friday, the Trump administration reportedly halting all asylum application processing.
00:06:34.360 Secretary Noem Sunday on NBC asked if President Trump is planning to end all immigration into the U.S.
00:06:41.320 The president is absolutely determined to stop all processes at this point in time from third-world countries 1.00
00:06:47.780 until we can have a thorough opportunity to go through these individuals,
00:06:52.180 know that they're here for the right intentions, and that they even should be in our country to begin with.
00:06:57.280 He's putting Americans first, their safety first.
00:07:01.460 President Trump's immigration crackdown taking specific aim at the Somali community in Minnesota.
00:07:07.660 In November, reporting from the Manhattan Institute's City Journal,
00:07:11.440 alleging that networks within the Minnesota Somali community ripped off state Medicaid and social services programs
00:07:18.920 of more than a billion dollars, with millions reportedly sent back to Somalia via remittances,
00:07:25.040 where the Al-Shabaab terrorist group then takes a cut.
00:07:28.560 In the wake of that reporting, President Trump announcing the termination of temporary protected status
00:07:33.640 for Somali nationals in Minnesota,
00:07:35.980 a move ultimately only affecting a few hundred out of tens of thousands of Somalis in the U.S.
00:07:42.660 But the president's crackdown escalating sharply in the wake of the attack on two National Guardsmen in D.C.
00:07:48.400 Mr. Trump posting on Thanksgiving to Truth Social,
00:07:50.800 quote,
00:07:50.980 I will permanently pause migration from all third-world countries 1.00
00:07:54.720 and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the U.S.
00:07:58.320 or is incapable of loving our country,
00:08:01.180 and all federal benefits and subsidies to non-citizens of our country
00:08:04.920 denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility 1.00
00:08:08.760 and deport any foreign national who is a public charge, security risk, 0.58
00:08:13.540 or non-compatible with Western civilization.
00:08:16.980 Then, on Saturday, the New York Times with its own lengthy report with the headline,
00:08:20.740 quote,
00:08:21.260 How Fraud Swamped Minnesota's Social Services System on Tim Walz's Watch.
00:08:26.820 Way to get scooped by City Journal, Times.
00:08:29.980 The Times detailing federal prosecutors charging dozens of people with felonies
00:08:34.020 for their alleged roles in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme,
00:08:38.040 which involved COVID-era programs meant to feed hungry children.
00:08:41.820 According to the DOJ, the money instead was used by mostly Somali immigrants
00:08:46.080 to funnel hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars into luxury cars, homes,
00:08:51.460 and even overseas investments.
00:08:53.960 Prosecutors so far convicting 59 people across three major schemes,
00:08:58.300 the Meals Program, a program for individuals at risk for homelessness,
00:09:02.160 and an autism therapy program with losses totaling more than $1 billion.
00:09:08.300 Of the 86 people charged in connection with these schemes,
00:09:12.020 all but eight members of Minnesota's Somali community.
00:09:15.580 Governor Walz gently asked about the reporting Sunday on NBC,
00:09:19.760 deflecting the criticism.
00:09:20.800 Do you take responsibility for failing to stop this fraud in your state?
00:09:26.120 Well, certainly I take responsibility for putting people in jail.
00:09:29.140 Governors don't get to just talk theoretically.
00:09:32.000 We have to solve problems.
00:09:33.240 And I will note, it's not just Somalis.
00:09:35.820 Minnesota is a generous state.
00:09:37.420 Minnesota is a prosperous state.
00:09:38.780 It's a well-run state.
00:09:39.880 We're AAA bond raided.
00:09:41.340 But that attracts criminals.
00:09:42.760 Those people are going to jail.
00:09:44.240 We're doing everything we can.
00:09:45.820 But to demonize an entire community on the actions of a few,
00:09:48.880 it's lazy.
00:09:50.280 That is totally disconnected with demonizing an entire group of people who came here fleeing civil war
00:09:56.140 and created a vibrant community that makes Minnesota and this country better.
00:10:00.400 But that's Donald Trump.
00:10:01.920 Deflect, demonize, come up with no solutions.
00:10:04.260 He's not going to help fix anything on fraud.
00:10:06.860 My God, there's a big difference between fraud and corruption.
00:10:09.240 And corruption is something he knows about.
00:10:11.680 The White House rapid response account on X pointing out these are all federal cases
00:10:16.820 and the governor's not involved in the prosecutions.
00:10:20.160 Ignored by NBC's host, the Times reporting that Minnesota's nonpartisan auditor
00:10:25.040 found state officials were reluctant to take forceful action
00:10:28.740 due to fears over litigation and negative media coverage involving racism allegations.
00:10:34.440 In other words, they knew and did nothing because they didn't want to be called mean words.
00:10:41.520 The Times, speaking to a former investigator in the state's attorney general's office,
00:10:45.660 who said, quote, forcefully tackling this issue might cause political backlash among the Somali
00:10:50.680 community, which is a core voting bloc for Democrats.
00:10:54.680 One career prosecutor describing the situation to the Times is, quote,
00:10:58.120 a huge part of the problem.
00:10:59.820 Allegations of racism can be a reputation or career killer.
00:11:03.520 Last night, President Trump aboard Air Force One,
00:11:06.520 expanding on just how much of a pause Americans should be expecting.
00:11:10.860 We don't want those people.
00:11:12.380 We have enough problems.
00:11:13.320 We don't want those people.
00:11:14.300 Is that a year, two years?
00:11:16.320 No time limit.
00:11:17.560 But it could be a long time.
00:11:19.140 We don't want those people.
00:11:20.540 Do you understand that?
00:11:21.400 What do you mean by those people?
00:11:23.100 Can you clarify?
00:11:24.300 People from different countries that are not friendly to us 1.00
00:11:27.380 and countries that are out of control themselves.
00:11:30.280 Countries like Somalia that have virtually no government, no military, no police.
00:11:34.780 All they do is go around killing each other.
00:11:36.400 Then they come into our country and tell us how to run our country. 0.85
00:11:39.900 We don't want them.
00:11:42.460 Coming up, shortly after a group of Democrat lawmakers warns military service members
00:11:47.740 to ignore hypothetical illegal orders.
00:11:51.000 And after two weeks of criticism for their failure to cite even one allegedly illegal order,
00:11:56.760 their buddies in the media do their best to find one.
00:11:59.680 And sorry, ladies and others.
00:12:02.300 Senator Cory Booker is officially off the market.

00:13:06.940 Two weeks after a group of six Democrat lawmakers stirred up controversy by urging U.S. service
00:13:14.580 members to ignore hypothetical illegal orders from President Trump, and on the heels of even
00:13:20.560 left-wing media outlets embarrassing Democrats by asking them to name the illegal orders at issue,
00:13:27.060 only to be met with crickets in response, the Washington Post and CNN now reporting on,
00:13:32.580 aha, a potentially illegal order allegedly given by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
00:13:38.120 Fortuitous timing.
00:13:39.900 According to the Post, on September 2nd, a U.S. surveillance aircraft struck a suspected
00:13:45.020 drug-running vessel off the coast of Trinidad, leaving two survivors clinging to the wreckage.
00:13:50.900 The Post claiming on orders from Secretary Hegseth to leave no survivors, the special ops commander
00:13:55.760 overseeing the mission ordered a second strike.
00:13:58.640 The Post quoting a former military lawyer and U.S. congressman from Massachusetts,
00:14:02.180 Democrat Seth Moulton, both suggesting the second strike constituted an illegal order
00:14:07.760 because the survivors were incapable of fighting against the U.S. and no longer posed a threat.
00:14:13.480 Joint Special Operations Command, or JSOC, the group executing the mission, briefing the White 0.66
00:14:18.220 House that the double-tap was necessary to fully sink the vessel, clearing a navigational hazard,
00:14:23.880 according to the Post, which reported the commander of the operation determined, quote,
00:14:27.780 survivors were still legitimate targets because they could theoretically call other traffickers
00:14:32.760 to retrieve them and their cargo. According to the Post's unnamed sources, the boat was struck a
00:14:37.640 total of four times, twice to kill everyone and two more times to sink it. Congressman Moulton
00:14:43.800 telling the Post, quote, killing survivors is blatantly illegal. Mark my words, he continued,
00:14:49.640 it may take some time, but Americans will be prosecuted for this,
00:14:52.660 either as a war crime or outright murder. Secretary Hegseth, defending the mission Friday on social
00:14:58.820 media, quote, our current operations in the Caribbean are lawful under both U.S. and international
00:15:03.720 law, with all actions in compliance with the law of armed conflict, and approved by the best military
00:15:09.400 and civilian lawyers up and down the chain of command. CNN reporting the DOJ produced a legal opinion
00:15:15.800 over the summer, arguing the president is allowed to authorize strikes against certain cartels
00:15:21.120 and criminal organizations in self-defense because of the imminent threat to Americans posed by said
00:15:26.900 groups. Both House and Senate Armed Services Committees, led by Republicans, moving to open
00:15:32.820 inquiries. U.S. Senator from Arizona, Democrat Mark Kelly, who participated in the video urging military
00:15:39.340 members to ignore illegal orders, and also a member of the Armed Services Committee Sunday on Meet the
00:15:44.420 Press expressing his concern. Would you refuse that order in real time? Well, let me start by saying
00:15:50.680 I've sunk two boats, two ships. Never once did I question whether those orders were legal or
00:15:57.120 illegal. People can tell the difference, should be able to tell the difference between something that
00:16:01.720 is unlawful and something that is lawful. And if I was ever given an unlawful order, I would refuse.
00:16:08.820 My concern is with the service members that they're going to, we're going to put these individuals in a 0.90
00:16:14.220 really, really tough decision in a tough place. And, you know, they may find out, you know, down the road that
00:16:20.620 they did something that is illegal. It is not fair to them. Last night on Air Force One, President Trump pushed
00:16:26.040 back on the reporting in The Post. If there were a second strike that killed wounded people wounded in the
00:16:32.840 first strike, are you thinking that would be legal? Number one, I don't know that that happened. And Pete
00:16:37.860 said he did not want them. He didn't even know what people were talking about. So we'll look at, we'll look
00:16:44.920 into it. But no, I wouldn't have wanted that, not a second strike. The first strike was very lethal. It was fine.
00:16:52.180 And if there were two people around, but Pete said that didn't happen. Does that make you? I have
00:16:56.400 great confidence. He's saying there's no second strike. I don't know. I'm going to find out about
00:17:01.040 it. But Pete said he did not order the death of those two men. Amid all the uproar sparked by this
00:17:07.520 story, senior writer at Real Clear Investigations, Mark Hemingway, urging caution, posting to X, quote,
00:17:13.600 based on what we know so far, a whole lot of people are outraged and energetically pretending to be
00:17:18.620 experts on obscure aspects of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and international law when the
00:17:24.920 known facts just aren't credible enough to speculate. U.S. Senator from New Jersey, Democrat
00:17:31.180 Cory Booker, surprising the nation this weekend with news of his wedding. The New York Times
00:17:37.040 exclusively reporting on the 56-year-old's, quote, intimate Saturday ceremony in D.C., tying the nut with
00:17:43.620 38-year-old Alexis Lewis following a Monday courthouse ceremony in Newark where the couple's
00:17:49.920 as witnesses. They were reportedly engaged just three months ago. Lewis is a director of
00:17:55.680 investments at a real estate investment firm in Los Angeles and former staffer for the Democratic
00:18:00.280 Mayor of L.A., Eric Garcetti. The pair met in May of 2024, according to the Times, on a blind date
00:18:06.520 coordinated through a mutual friend. Senator Booker emailing the Times that, quote,
00:18:11.560 The second date was even more magical, detailing an evening of tapas, followed by tickets to the
00:18:17.340 Broadway show Suffs, a musical based on the women's suffrage movement. Senator Booker popping the
00:18:23.600 question in Hawaii after native Hawaiian musicians played Mariah Carey's dream lover. Magical, Broadway,
00:18:33.160 women's suffrage, and Mariah Carey. Okay. Lewis telling the performers she had always wanted the song to be
00:18:40.160 played at her wedding. Senator Booker reportedly replying, quote, Well, honey, this is the song
00:18:45.280 that's playing at your proposal. That moment captured in images shared by Booker on social media on
00:18:51.420 September 2nd, showing the extremely, extremely happy couple with eyes wide, mouths agape, as in like
00:19:01.520 publisher's clearinghouse showed up at your house with an enormous check, mouths agape,
00:19:06.480 in full theatrical excitement. HBO host Bill Maher describing the scene this way.
00:19:12.880 We congratulate Senator Cory Booker on his recent engagement. He has to explain why his engagement
00:19:18.660 photos look like an ad for prescription drugs. Because these pictures don't make me think, great,
00:19:24.800 now we can run for president without the stigma of being a bachelor. They make me think, don't let
00:19:30.160 moderate to severe ulcerative colitis stand in your way. Ask your doctor about Zerlachia.
00:19:36.780 Speaking of presidential runs, the Times going out of its way to include this little detail, quote,
00:19:42.180 The couple's wedding comes eight months after Mr. Booker delivered a 25-hour speech on the Senate floor
00:19:48.140 opposing the Trump administration's policies in March, setting a record. His stamina and tenacity
00:19:55.060 drew renewed attention from Democrats, who have largely been sidelined in the Capitol since
00:20:00.540 President Donald J. Trump's inauguration in January. The moment reignited speculation about
00:20:05.940 a potential presidential run. Mr. Booker last sought the nomination in 2020. When Senator Booker
00:20:12.680 dropped out of the 2020 race, he was polling at two percent nationally. FiveThirtyEight reporting at the
00:20:17.860 time, quote, after the first debate in late June, he didn't surpass four percent in a single national
00:20:22.360 survey, and he continued to lose steam, failing to qualify for the December and January debates.
00:20:28.200 Preliminary polling ahead of 2028 showing the same story, the RealClearPolitics polling average
00:20:32.880 showing Senator Booker at just two point five percent. But at least he's totally and authentically
00:20:39.280 happily married now. And that'll do it for your AM update. I'm Megan Kelly. Join me back here for the
