00:00:57.120 as the potential for another Middle East quagmire looms.

00:01:01.040 Rolled down his window

00:01:02.060 and began using a pistol shooting out of his car windows.

00:01:09.740 following a deadly shooting in Austin, Texas.

00:01:14.900 in two dramatic and high-stakes Senate primaries.

00:01:18.580 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM update.

00:02:31.260 Overnight Friday, the United States working in coordination with Israel,

00:02:38.120 launching a sweeping military operation targeting Iran's regime leadership and military infrastructure

00:02:44.080 in what officials are calling Operation Epic Fury.

00:02:48.300 President Trump yesterday afternoon posting a video update to his social media.

00:02:52.260 We have hit hundreds of targets in Iran, including Revolutionary Guard facilities,

00:02:59.440 Iranian air defense systems.

00:03:01.520 Just now it was announced that we knocked out nine ships plus their naval building,

00:03:07.320 all in a matter of literally minutes.

00:03:11.960 Iran's formerly supreme leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, is dead. 0.73

00:03:18.060 This wretched and vile man had the blood of hundreds and even thousands of Americans on his hands.

00:03:26.320 The entire military command is gone as well, 0.95

00:03:30.000 and many of them want to surrender into saving their lives.

00:03:35.160 Combat operations continue at this time in full force,

00:03:38.880 and they will continue until all of our objectives are achieved.

00:03:42.960 Ayatollah Khamenei was the supreme leader of Iran since 1989.

00:03:48.960 In addition to Khamenei, Israeli strikes taking out more than 40 top Iranian regime

00:03:54.240 and security officials in the first wave of the attack, according to multiple reports.

00:03:59.940 Some of those officials reportedly include the head of National Defense Council,

00:04:04.280 Ali Shamkani, and Defense Minister Aziz Nazirzada.

00:04:08.900 Reports Iran's former president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, had also been killed have not yet been confirmed.

00:04:15.920 Four American B-2 bombers reportedly dropping dozens of 2,000-pound bombs on Iranian ballistic

00:04:21.720 missile facilities, while U.S. naval forces struck additional targets at sea.

00:04:26.980 U.S. military forces carrying out 900 strikes in the first 12 hours of the operation alone.

00:04:32.880 President Trump addressing the nation early Saturday morning,

00:04:36.040 shortly after combat operations began.

00:04:38.120 Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating eminent threats from the Iranian regime. 0.92

00:04:47.160 Its menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas,

00:04:53.160 and our allies throughout the world.

00:04:56.000 For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted death to America 1.00

00:05:00.440 and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder,

00:05:05.620 targeting the United States, our troops, and the innocent people in many, many countries.

00:05:12.280 Iranian forces killed and maimed hundreds of American service members in Iraq.

00:05:17.040 The regime's proxies have continued to launch countless attacks against American forces

00:05:22.580 stationed in the Middle East in recent years,

00:05:25.660 as well as U.S. naval and commercial vessels in international shipping lands.

00:05:30.880 Iran responding, launching strikes against Israel and U.S. targets in neighboring states,

00:05:42.560 including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

00:05:47.220 U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM, which oversees U.S. military operations across the Middle East,

00:05:53.220 reporting U.S. forces defended against hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks,

00:05:59.140 leading to minimal damage.

00:06:01.160 However, the Pentagon confirming three U.S. service members have been killed,

00:06:05.600 and five seriously wounded so far,

00:06:07.860 with several more sustaining minor shrapnel injuries and concussions.

00:06:12.800 NBC News reporting the U.S. deaths occurred in Kuwait.

00:06:16.700 President Trump acknowledging casualties in yesterday afternoon's video update.

00:06:20.740 As one nation, we grieve for the true American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice

00:06:27.460 for our nation, even as we continue the righteous mission for which they gave their lives.

00:06:34.960 We pray for the full recovery of the wounded and send our immense love and eternal gratitude

00:06:41.580 to the families of the fallen.

00:06:44.480 And sadly, there will likely be more before it ends.

00:06:48.760 Iranian casualties remaining unclear, with local sources estimating at least 200 deaths so far.

00:06:57.860 In Israel, nine civilians killed in a missile attack, one killed in Kuwait, three killed in

00:07:03.480 the UAE, dozens more injured across the region.

00:07:06.960 The strikes following weeks of escalating tension as the U.S. surged military assets into the region,

00:07:12.840 including two aircraft carriers, while U.S. and Iranian officials pursued nuclear negotiations.

00:07:18.760 Reuters reporting last week the latest round ending with, quote,

00:07:22.360 no deal but potential signs of progress.

00:07:25.460 Senator Ted Cruz of Texas saying yesterday on CBS,

00:07:29.720 there is no intelligence indicating Iran is anywhere close to having a nuclear weapon,

00:07:35.400 but saying U.S. officials felt they still wanted one and still posed a threat.

00:07:40.200 Because the diplomacy was an abject failure, they said they would not stop enriching.

00:07:47.360 No matter what, they were going to continue to enrich uranium.

00:07:50.660 They also refused to discuss their proxies.

00:07:53.440 They refused to discuss Hamas and Hezbollah and the Houthis.

00:07:56.340 And President Trump understood that the Iranian, quote, negotiation was just a stall tactic.

00:08:03.940 Margaret, what I just told you, what I just told you is almost word for word what Secretary of State

00:08:10.440 Marco Rubio told me yesterday.

00:08:12.460 Former CENTCOM commander Frank McKenzie yesterday on CBS on what's likely to happen over the next few days.

00:08:19.080 The American people should be prepared for several more days of exchanges of long-range rockets.

00:08:24.920 We're going to continue to strike them with our aircraft, with our T-LAMs, our Tomahawk land attack

00:08:29.320 missiles. And the essential calculus over the next 72 to 96 hours, Margaret, is going to be

00:08:34.920 whether or not we can reduce the Iranian ability to generate volleys. And by volleys, I mean groups 1.00

00:08:40.840 of missiles that are fired at our bases in the region. I think the president's comments actually

00:08:46.060 were spot on when he warned the American people that this wasn't going to be, it wasn't going to

00:08:50.380 be a cakewalk. Mr. Trump yesterday indicating a potential timeline of epic fury to the Daily Mail,

00:08:56.100 quote, it's always been a four-week process. As strong as it is, it's a big country. It'll take

00:09:01.960 four weeks or less. President Trump telling NBC the campaign is already, quote, ahead of schedule.

00:09:07.500 The president explicitly framing the operation as designed to cause regime change, urging the

00:09:13.400 Iranian people to, quote, take over your government when the bombing campaign stops. In an interview with

00:09:19.240 The Atlantic yesterday morning, Mr. Trump saying, quote, the Iranians want to talk, and I have agreed to 0.78

00:09:24.960 talk, so I will be talking to them, adding, they waited too long. Some of the people we were dealing

00:09:30.920 with are gone. Though Mr. Trump declining to say when the talks would occur or with whom they would

00:09:37.200 be conducted. Notably, no top Trump administration officials appearing on the Sunday shows yesterday,

00:09:44.460 rare any weekend, but particularly on this one, with much of the early reaction coming from lawmakers.

00:09:50.080 Many Democrats sharply criticizing the decision to launch the strikes. Here's Senator Adam Schiff of

00:09:56.040 California, a Democrat, yesterday on ABC. You're right about the Ayatollah. He was a brutal dictator.

00:10:02.660 This is a murderous regime. But at the same time, it posed no imminent threat of attack to the United

00:10:08.160 States. They had not reconstituted their nuclear program, which the president just months ago

00:10:13.080 said had been obliterated. They do not have ballistic missiles capable of hitting the United States.

00:10:18.640 There was simply no basis to go in with this massive military campaign with the goal of regime

00:10:25.060 change. And the concern here is that we have unleashed factors in the region now that we cannot

00:10:32.640 control. Criticism not exclusive to Democrats. Some voices on the right also warning the operation risks

00:10:39.700 pulling the U.S. into yet another endless war in the Middle East. Here, executive director of the

00:10:45.960 American conservative Kurt Mills, yesterday on Steve Bannon's War Room.

00:10:50.620 And I think there's going to be a real desire to keep President Trump in here. I think the president

00:10:55.000 has gotten very poor counsel. And I do think it matters politically that he was the no more endless

00:11:00.260 wars candidate in 2016 and 2024, particularly. And this looks like an open betrayal of the base.

00:11:06.160 And now there's an argument that this is different than the Bush era neocon wars. But I will flag

00:11:12.780 what Bush era neocon is not for this today. Find me one name name one. Bolton is pleased as hell

00:11:20.040 about what we're doing. He what he said, his only regret is that he didn't convince Trump to do this

00:11:24.420 in 2018. Quick polling on the strikes is mixed. Reuters finding limited support for them. The poll

00:11:31.120 conducted after the strikes began, but before the announcement of any U.S. casualties, finding just

00:11:36.520 27% of respondents approve, 43% disapprove, 29% say they are unsure. 55% of Republicans say they approve

00:11:46.760 of the strikes versus just 13% who disapprove. Among Democrats, 74% disapprove, just 7% approve.

00:11:55.940 54% of respondents say they would be less likely to support the campaign if it leads to U.S. troops

00:12:01.580 in the Middle East being killed or injured. However, polling by Insider Advantage released

00:12:07.120 on Saturday, finding 54% of respondents approve of the president's use of military air and naval

00:12:13.860 strikes to eliminate Iran's leadership and disable their nuclear and ballistic rebuilding,

00:12:19.000 with just 37% disapproving. So 27% approve in Reuters, 54% in Insider Advantage. Supporters of the

00:12:27.500 Strike, challenging critics' claims that President Trump is conducting an illegal military operation.

00:12:33.540 Here, Senator Dave McCormick, Republican from Pennsylvania, yesterday on Fox.

00:12:38.100 First of all, the president acted completely within his constitutional authority. He briefed the

00:12:43.860 Congress, as is required by the War Piles resolution. He has 60 days, even under that resolution, before any

00:12:49.460 further requirements come into effect. And what we need to focus on now is continuing to support these

00:12:56.320 great young Americans that are carrying out this extraordinary mission.

00:13:00.000 Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma, a Republican, arguing on ABC that Iran has been a longtime threat

00:13:06.620 to Americans.

00:13:08.000 We certainly have been provoked on this. Just a year ago, we had over 180 attacks from Iran 0.93

00:13:13.640 on Americans, either through their proxies or directly from Iran. They continue to be able to fund

00:13:18.940 the attack of ships off the coast of Yemen. Obviously, they're funding Hezbollah, the Shia militants.

00:13:24.420 They have continued to be able to attack us now for decades, and that has accelerated.

00:13:29.000 So just because we have blocked their attacks doesn't mean they're not attacking us. So this

00:13:33.500 becomes the situation where you're shooting at a police officer and telling him, you can't fire

00:13:37.720 back unless they hit you.

00:13:39.300 Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, a Democrat, breaking with much of his party,

00:13:43.820 saying the Supreme Leader's death is worth celebrating.

00:13:46.800 How can't you celebrate that the Iranian leadership has been eliminated? Doesn't that make the region 1.00

00:13:54.760 more safe, more secure, more just, more free? And now, of course, there's other things that's

00:14:01.260 possible right now. But right now, why can't you just acknowledge that?

00:14:05.840 Founder of the private military contracting company Blackwater, Eric Prince, who spoke to Steve Bannon

00:14:11.720 on Sunday, concluding, quote, this was not in America's interests, adding, it's going to lead 0.99

00:14:17.520 to chaos and saying regime change is not possible without troops on the ground, something Prince

00:14:23.560 vehemently opposes.

00:14:25.560 If you had a chance to talk to the president today, what would be Eric Prince's

00:14:29.560 recommendations to the commander in chief?

00:14:32.780 Don't ever contemplate ground troops in Iran.

00:14:35.300 You think that's even a possibility?

00:14:38.540 I didn't think this was a possibility today, over the last couple of days, Steve. I didn't

00:14:42.960 really think that he was going to do it.

00:14:46.940 Coming up, federal officials now investigating possible terror ties in a deadly weekend shooting

00:14:51.980 in Austin, Texas. And elsewhere in the Lone Star State, voters heading to the polls tomorrow in

00:14:57.840 high-stakes Senate primaries with a bitter battle unfolding in both parties.

00:15:05.300 Ever been in a bad relationship? You know, the kind, it just wears you down. You settle

00:15:14.320 in, even though deep down, you know, this is not how it's supposed to be. That's what

00:15:18.220 daily aches and pains can feel like. You stop expecting to feel good. You start thinking,

00:15:23.220 maybe this is just life now, but it doesn't have to be. With Relief Factor, you can break

00:15:27.660 up with pain, just like Anthony did. He wrote, quote, I was dealing with debilitating pain

00:15:32.180 and fatigue. I've been talking about Relief Factor and taking it for about two months,

00:15:36.760 and now I'm back to running my business, fishing, gardening, and doing the things that really

00:15:40.340 matter to me. And listen, maybe it's your back pain, your knee issues, or stiffness that's

00:15:45.100 slowing you down. Relief Factor might help give you your mobility back. Relief Factor is 100%

00:15:50.960 drug-free, and it targets the inflammation that causes pain, so you can move better, feel better,

00:15:59.940 relieffactor.com or call 800-4-RELIEF. Break up with pain and get back to what matters.

00:16:07.080 Two people killed and at least 14 more injured in a shooting early Sunday morning at a bar in

00:16:12.920 downtown Austin, Texas. The gunman shot dead by police as federal officials now investigating

00:16:18.500 possible ties to terrorism. Police responding around 2 a.m. on Sunday to reports of an active gunman

00:16:25.100 on 6th Street, a popular nightlife spot in the city. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis yesterday

00:16:31.240 describing the incident to reporters. We had a call came in that shooting, that someone was shooting

00:16:37.740 around the bar, Buford's bar. We know that a vehicle, a large SUV, drove several times around

00:16:45.780 the block in that area. At one point, he put his flashers on, rolled down his window, and began using

00:16:52.660 a pistol shooting out of his car windows, striking patrons of the bar that were on the patio and that

00:17:00.220 were in front of the bar. He then proceeds westbound on 6th Street, goes to Wood Street where he parks his

00:17:07.260 car, gets out, once again starts shooting his gun at some people that are walking by. Everyone knows

00:17:14.080 the amount of resources we use on East 6th Street. We were about 55, 56 seconds away coming from east to

00:17:22.960 west Austin, and that saved multiple lives. Officers were coming toward him, and at the intersection he

00:17:29.220 was shot, and he was killed. Law enforcement identifying the shooter as 53-year-old Endiaga

00:17:35.260 Diagne, a naturalized citizen from Senegal. Fox News obtaining a photo of Diagne from the scene,

00:17:41.960 carrying a rifle and wearing a sweatshirt, with the caption, property of Allah across the front.

00:17:48.240 The shooter reportedly wearing an undershirt with an Iranian flag on it, according to Fox News' Bill

00:17:53.300 Malusian. Investigators recovering a Quran from the shooter's car, per the New York Post.

00:17:59.640 The attack coming hours after the death of Iran's supreme leader, FBI Director Kash Patel placing

00:18:05.240 counterterrorism and intelligence teams on high alert on Saturday, quote,

00:18:09.700 to address and disrupt any potential threats to the homeland.

00:18:14.600 Texas voters heading to the polls tomorrow into very tense Senate primary races on both sides of

00:18:20.680 the aisle. On the Democratic side, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, an outspoken social media star 0.92

00:18:26.260 with a growing national profile, faces State Representative James Tallarico, a former teacher

00:18:31.740 and minister in training, running on a message of unity but with serious progressive policies

00:18:36.880 underneath the veneer. The two candidates overlap on policy but offer sharply different political

00:18:42.880 strategies. Crockett focusing on energizing her core Democratic voters, while Tallarico is betting

00:18:48.920 Democrats can and must expand their appeal beyond the base, campaigning heavily in red districts.

00:18:56.100 According to the University of Texas' Texas Politics Project survey, conducted among likely

00:19:01.520 Democrat primary voters. Crockett leads 56 to Tallarico's 44. But polling has been all over the place.

00:19:09.060 In a poll from Chisholm Strategies, a Democrat-aligned group, Tallarico is ahead by 12 points.

00:19:15.500 Emerson releasing a final poll yesterday in the race, with Tallarico up 5. The Real Clear Politics

00:19:21.260 average now has Tallarico with a slight lead of just 1.6 points. Bottom line, nobody knows nothing.

00:19:28.320 Tallarico emphasizing outreach directly to Spanish-speaking Texans on the campaign trail.

00:19:40.960 Crockett, meanwhile, receiving a last-minute boost from former Vice President Kamala Harris,

00:19:45.800 who recorded a robocall urging Democrats to support her campaign. 0.82

00:19:50.000 Texas has the chance to send a fighter like Jasmine Crockett to the United States Senate. 1.00

00:19:55.300 Jasmine has the experience and record to hold Donald Trump and his billionaire cronies

00:20:00.940 accountable. It's time to turn Texas blue. On the Republican side, a bitter three-way

00:20:06.720 primary battle between incumbent Senator John Cornyn, State Attorney General Ken Paxton,

00:20:11.880 and Congressman Wesley Hunt. Mr. Cornyn, first elected in 2002 and long viewed as the traditional

00:20:18.240 Republican statesman, now facing a serious challenge from Paxton,

00:20:21.940 a three-term AG who built his profile aggressively suing Democrats, filing at least 100 lawsuits

00:20:28.520 against the Biden administration. In the Real Clear Politics polling average, Paxton leading at 41.7

00:20:35.060 points, followed by Senator Cornyn's 34.7, then Congressman Hunt at 15.7. The Emerson poll yesterday

00:20:42.900 showing the race tightening, with Paxton up just four points over Cornyn. Senator Cornyn going scorched earth

00:20:49.680 in the final days before the primary, accusing Paxton of corruption in his official duties

00:20:54.480 and moral failings at home.

00:20:56.820 Crooked Ken Paxton cheated on his wife. She's divorcing him on biblical grounds. So now Paxton's

00:21:02.880 wrecking another home, sleeping around with a married mother of seven. And remember this,

00:21:07.840 Crooked Ken has increased his net worth by as much as 7,000 percent since taking office. And his actions

00:21:14.340 in office, even more troubling. Paxton gave millions of Texas tax dollars to left-wing organizations,

00:21:20.840 including the Montrose Center that hosts drag queen shows and performs gender-affirming services to kids

00:21:27.400 as young as seven. The wife cheater and fraud, or the Texas workhorse. Senator John Cornyn is endorsed

00:21:35.500 by the Border Patrol, and he voted for President Trump 99 percent of the time.
