00:00:30.000 Good morning, everyone. I'm Megan Kelly.

00:00:34.800 It's Monday, January 19th, 2026, and this is your AM Update.

00:00:39.520 We're here to arrest a child sex offender.

00:00:42.840 And you guys are out here honking.

00:00:44.640 Below freezing temperatures in Minneapolis doing little to stop agitators from interfering with ICE operations.

00:00:50.740 This whole dynamic is deeply concerning because supposedly they would be coming for me and targeting me.

00:01:00.000 The DOJ reportedly investigating whether comments by Democrat Minnesota politicians Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey cross a criminal line.

00:01:09.000 President Trump escalates threats against the eight European countries most resistant to making a deal for the U.S. to take over Greenland.

00:01:16.800 And President Trump's former fixer turned enemy, Michael Cohen, who said he would have to leave the U.S. if Trump won, changes his tune again as he now tries to curry favor with the president.

00:01:30.160 But not even kidding.

00:01:32.500 All that and more coming up in just a moment on your AM Update.

00:01:35.440 If your credit card balance is freaking you out after all the holiday spending, I mean, right?

00:02:35.620 Pure Talk, America's wireless company.

00:02:40.120 In Minneapolis, below freezing temperatures doing little to slow agitators seeking to disrupt federal immigration enforcement

00:02:47.360 as ICE agents continued operations through a weekend marked by repeated confrontations.

00:02:53.000 In video obtained by Freedom News, one agent delivering a blunt message to bystanders.

00:02:59.120 We're here to arrest a child sex offender.

00:03:03.220 And you guys are out here honking.

00:03:05.440 Oh, we're not.

00:03:05.880 No, we're pressing.

00:03:07.640 We're not.

00:03:07.900 That vehicle right there is honking and impeding our investigations while we're trying to arrest a child sex offender.

00:03:14.400 That's who you guys are protecting.

00:03:16.700 Insane.

00:03:17.380 DHS tasking ICE with targeting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens in the Twin Cities.

00:03:24.020 ICE director Todd Lyons saying last week these efforts netting more than 2,500 criminal illegal aliens in the region since the beginning of the surge.

00:03:33.120 Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem Sunday on CBS with a staggering statistic on the criminal backgrounds of the individuals they've arrested.

00:03:41.520 Every single individual has committed a crime, but 70 percent of them have committed or have charges against them on violent crimes and crimes that they are charged with or have been convicted of that have come from other countries that are here illegally, first of all. 0.99

00:03:57.260 And then they have committed a criminal act while they've been here or in their home countries as well.

00:04:01.720 It's not 70 percent.

00:04:03.700 Yes, it is.

00:04:04.820 It absolutely is.

00:04:05.660 70 percent of everyone you guys keep changing your percentage.

00:04:09.140 You pick and choose what numbers you think work.

00:04:11.660 But that is the facts is that 70 percent of the people that we have detained have charges against them or have been convicted of charges and they need to be brought to justice.

00:04:21.760 Agitators coordinating protest activity across the Twin Cities using so-called ICE Watch Rapid Response Networks to spot, report and swarm federal agents.

00:04:31.900 But those alerts are not always accurate.

00:04:33.760 In some cases, these groups zeroing in on the wrong targets, falsely identifying ordinary civilians as undercover ICE agents.

00:04:42.500 Alpha News reporting on one such incident last week, a group of software engineers who say they were mistaken for ICE officers while eating lunch at a Minneapolis diner.

00:04:52.820 According to one of the men, the group is politically mixed, including one who is anti-ICE.

00:04:57.560 The man receiving a message on an anti-ICE signal chat he belongs to called SW Minneapolis Rapid Response, reporting that plain-clothes ICE agents were dining at that very restaurant.

00:05:10.000 What he didn't realize, they meant him.

00:05:12.800 Within 15 minutes, dozens of protesters arriving, surrounding the diner and confronting the group.

00:05:18.420 Here, a portion of the encounter obtained by Alpha News.

00:05:21.420 It's unclear how long the encounter lasted.

00:05:42.160 President Trump's so far holding off on making good on his threat to invoke the Insurrection Act, which would allow him to send in the military to control agitators and protect federal agents.

00:05:52.920 On Friday, Mr. Trump telling reporters, quote,

00:05:55.060 I don't think there's any reason right now to use it, but if I needed it, I'd use it.

00:05:59.360 And indeed, a U.S. official telling Fox News,

00:06:02.440 1,500 troops from the Army's 11th Airborne Division have been given prepare-to-deploy orders.

00:06:09.180 Amid the highly coordinated unrest, Governor Tim Walz Saturday mobilizing the Minnesota National Guard.

00:06:16.040 Not to deploy, but to stand by and prepare to assist local law enforcement,

00:06:21.400 with state officials stressing, the Guard remains off the streets and simply, quote,

00:06:26.820 is ready to help support public safety.

00:06:30.020 The Minnesota National Guard X account posting a picture of two guardsmen with the caption, quote,

00:06:35.240 If our members are activated, they will be wearing reflective vests, as pictured here,

00:06:40.340 to help distinguish them from other agencies in similar uniforms.

00:06:45.300 In other words, please try not to assault the ones in the reflective vests if you can help it.

00:06:51.400 Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frye, Sunday on CBS News, doubling down on his anti-ice rhetoric

00:06:56.500 amid the threat of further federal forces surging into Minneapolis.

00:07:01.020 You said occupying force. Don't you think that's a bit much?

00:07:05.800 I mean, look, you can go through whatever rhetorical flourish you want,

00:07:10.040 but when you have 3,000 ICE agents and border control come to the city,

00:07:17.060 when you've got this supposed threat of 1,500 military coming to the city,

00:07:23.880 yeah, that's very much what it feels like.

00:07:25.760 When you outnumber local police officers five and six to one, that is the vibe.

00:07:33.040 And so the bottom line is, if the goal were safety, this is not how you get there.

00:07:38.780 If the goal is safety, I can give you a very antidote to some of the violence that we're seeing.

00:07:42.860 It's have them leave.

00:07:44.320 Acting ICE director Todd Lyons yesterday on Fox,

00:07:47.440 suggesting one quick and easy way for Mayor Frye to get ICE out of Minneapolis.

00:07:51.760 The one thing we say all the time is, you know, these sanctuary jurisdictions,

00:07:56.000 you would not see this many ICE agents and special agents on the street

00:07:59.620 focused on the criminal illegal alien mission if they would just turn people over to us.

00:08:05.640 That's the key.

00:08:06.260 These local law enforcement agencies have already deemed these individuals a public safety threat

00:08:10.380 and arrested them.

00:08:11.320 Why not work with federal partners, turn them over to us,

00:08:14.560 and let us get them out of our communities?

00:08:16.320 The DOJ now investigating Democratic Minnesota officials,

00:08:21.840 including Governor Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Frye,

00:08:24.920 to determine whether their public statements crossed from policy disagreement

00:08:28.840 into unlawful interference with federal immigration enforcement.

00:08:33.240 A grand jury reportedly authorizing subpoenas last week, according to CNN,

00:08:37.820 after several weeks of escalating clashes between federal agents and local agitators in Minneapolis.

00:08:43.740 A U.S. official telling CBS News the inquiry is predicated on a federal statute

00:08:48.740 making it illegal for two or more people to conspire to prevent federal officers

00:08:54.500 from carrying out their official duties through force, intimidation, or threats.

00:09:00.340 Over the last several weeks, as the Trump administration surges agents into the Twin Cities

00:09:04.580 to round up violent criminal illegal aliens,

00:09:07.620 federal agents repeatedly met with dramatic, obstructive,

00:09:10.660 and at times violent resistance from local agitators.

00:09:14.780 Governor Walz and Mayor Frye employing inflammatory rhetoric,

00:09:18.120 especially in the wake of the fatal shooting of trained agitator Renee Good, 0.99

00:09:22.220 who accelerated her vehicle toward an ICE agent whom she hit with her car as she fled the scene. 0.98

00:09:28.380 That incident sparking larger protests,

00:09:30.800 which both leaders publicly defend and encourage as protected speech.

00:09:35.180 Subpoenas allow federal investigators to compel records and testimony

00:09:38.660 as part of a criminal inquiry.

00:09:41.260 While the exact scope of the subpoenas is not yet clear,

00:09:44.880 here are some examples of Walz and Frye's provocative comments. 0.99

00:09:49.380 To ICE, get the fuck out of Minneapolis. 1.00

00:09:52.300 We do not want you here. 0.99

00:09:53.900 The desire to get out and protest and to speak up to this administration of how wrong this is,

00:09:59.380 that is a patriotic duty at this point in time.

00:10:02.160 I've seen conduct from ICE that is disgusting and is intolerable.

00:10:07.080 If it were your city, it would be unacceptable there too.

00:10:10.460 And if you see these ICE agents in your neighborhood,

00:10:13.400 take out that phone and hit record.

00:10:15.720 Governor Walz has encouraged residents to film ICE officers while reminding them to,

00:10:20.600 quote, remain peaceful,

00:10:22.180 all while ramping up the rhetoric and a clear hate campaign against ICE.

00:10:26.680 He has called ICE the modern-day Gestapo.

00:10:29.500 He says they are pursuing a campaign of organized brutality that has

00:10:33.660 nothing to do with immigration enforcement,

00:10:36.060 that they are guilty of atrocities,

00:10:38.460 that President Trump wants more violence on the streets of Minneapolis.

00:10:42.140 Does that amount to a campaign to stop ICE through threats or intimidation?

00:10:47.300 CNN's generally solid legal analyst, Ellie Honig, a former federal prosecutor, does not think so.

00:10:53.240 Absolutely not.

00:10:54.080 This is core, protected, First Amendment political speech.

00:10:57.940 And you can even tell, watching that clip of Todd Blanche,

00:11:00.200 that he doesn't believe it because he hedged himself very lawyerly.

00:11:03.140 He said, well, it's close to obstruction.

00:11:05.820 If you have public officials, as we do here, making political speech,

00:11:09.120 even if it's explosive, inflammatory, aggressive,

00:11:12.140 and then that causes people to protest or to call 911,

00:11:16.040 that is simply not obstruction of justice.

00:11:18.360 If they bring an indictment for obstruction, I promise you they will lose.

00:11:22.280 Mayor Frye yesterday on CBS reacting to reports of the investigation.

00:11:26.380 We have not received any official anything at this point,

00:11:31.400 and so I can't comment on what I don't know about.

00:11:35.240 That being said, this whole dynamic is deeply concerning

00:11:39.700 because supposedly they would be coming for me and targeting me

00:11:45.220 for something that is core and critical to my job as mayor,

00:11:49.920 and that is speaking for my residents and my constituents,

00:11:52.700 that we are at a place right now where the Department of Justice

00:11:56.360 or the federal government could be coming after senators and governors and mayors

00:12:02.260 simply for speaking for their respective constituencies

00:12:05.920 and disagreeing with this federal administration.

00:12:08.200 I mean, this kind of thing happens in other countries.

00:12:10.060 This cannot happen in America.

00:12:11.780 It is unclear if Governor Walz has received a subpoena yet.

00:12:15.660 Mr. Walz on Friday posting a statement on X,

00:12:17.800 quote, two days ago it was Alyssa Slotkin.

00:12:20.280 Last week it was Jerome Powell.

00:12:22.020 Before that, Mark Kelly.

00:12:23.580 Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

00:12:28.320 The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good

00:12:31.620 is the federal agent who shot her.

00:12:34.400 Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche yesterday on Fox

00:12:36.860 stressing that elected officials are not shielded from laws

00:12:40.120 against impeding federal law enforcement efforts.

00:12:42.940 You saw the governor and the mayor actively encouraging,

00:12:47.480 encouraging criminals to go out on the street and impede ICE.

00:12:51.400 That is not allowed under our law.

00:12:53.260 When a federal officer is out doing their job,

00:12:55.400 they have to be allowed to do their jobs.

00:12:57.640 And the fact that we had to stand up and tell a mayor,

00:13:01.160 that we had to stand up and tell a governor

00:13:02.960 to stop encouraging the folks that are out there running around

00:13:07.320 trying to stop ICE, to stop encouraging them,

00:13:09.500 when what they really should be doing

00:13:10.880 is helping their fellow federal officers

00:13:13.700 is something that's horrible.

00:13:15.920 But listen, no matter who you are,

00:13:17.560 whether you're a governor, a mayor,

00:13:19.240 or somebody out there on the streets assaulting ICE,

00:13:22.000 you cannot, under federal law,

00:13:24.720 you cannot impede a federal officer doing their job.

00:13:28.400 And that's what we're looking at.

00:13:30.340 And I'm not going to talk about the investigation,

00:13:32.160 but American people can see what the mayor's been saying.

00:13:35.900 They can see what the governor's been saying.

00:13:37.720 And it's obvious that that has to stop.

00:13:41.220 Coming up, President Trump threatening

00:13:43.140 the eight European countries

00:13:44.600 most ardently resisting his campaign

00:13:46.920 to acquire Greenland with a new round of tariffs.

00:13:50.000 And former Trump fixer turned sworn enemy

00:13:53.580 of Donald Trump, Michael Cohen,

00:13:55.760 appears to be switching sides again in a stunning reversal.

00:14:02.160 Our sponsor, the Electronic Payments Coalition,

00:14:09.480 says Washington politicians are always getting in your wallet

00:14:13.000 and that now they're messing with your credit card.

00:14:15.740 They say your credit card and the security it offers

00:14:17.620 are under attack and that Senators Dick Durbin

00:14:20.040 and Roger Marshall want to change the nation's payment system

00:14:22.640 in a way that would benefit corporate megastores

00:14:24.860 like Walmart and Target at the expense of everyday Americans.

00:14:28.420 Credit cards can keep your payments secure

00:14:31.200 and they can provide rewards that families use

00:14:34.260 to help make everyday purchases more affordable.

00:14:36.680 The Electronic Payments Coalition says

00:14:38.500 the Durbin Marshall mandates

00:14:40.040 would let corporate megastores cut corners

00:14:42.420 on credit card processing, routing transactions

00:14:44.720 over cheaper, untested networks

00:14:46.840 with weaker security and fewer protections.

00:14:49.780 Find out more at guardyourcard.com

00:14:51.660 and consider telling Congress to guard your card.

00:14:54.120 President Trump on Saturday ratcheting up the pressure

00:14:58.640 on eight European countries

00:15:00.180 in his push to acquire Greenland,

00:15:02.000 a longstanding goal he argues is critical

00:15:04.400 to U.S. national security and Arctic dominance.

00:15:08.160 Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the U.K.,

00:15:10.740 the Netherlands and Finland

00:15:12.020 dispatching small military contingents

00:15:14.180 to Greenland late last week.

00:15:16.100 Moves the countries say were planned in advance

00:15:18.240 following talks between U.S., Danish and Greenlandic officials

00:15:21.460 about the future of the semi-autonomous territory

00:15:24.060 that ended without any resolution.

00:15:27.000 In a lengthy Truth Social post over the weekend,

00:15:29.240 Mr. Trump writing, quote,

00:15:30.560 we have subsidized Denmark

00:15:32.180 and all of the countries of the EU

00:15:34.300 and others for many years

00:15:36.080 by not charging them tariffs

00:15:37.380 or any other forms of remuneration.

00:15:40.180 Now, after centuries,

00:15:41.400 it is time for Denmark to give back.

00:15:43.800 World peace is at stake.

00:15:45.400 China and Russia want Greenland 0.51

00:15:46.940 and there is not a thing that Denmark can do about it.

00:15:49.820 Mr. Trump then announcing that beginning February 1st,

00:15:52.880 the eight nations will be subjected to a new 10% tariff,

00:15:56.120 with the rate set to increase to 25% on June 1st,

00:15:59.360 quote,

00:15:59.880 until such time as a deal is reached

00:16:01.680 for the complete and total purchase of Greenland.

00:16:04.680 President Trump calling the eight countries' military exercise

00:16:07.640 a, quote,

00:16:08.440 very dangerous game,

00:16:10.160 a description the eight nations rejected

00:16:12.360 in a joint statement,

00:16:13.720 writing that they, quote,

00:16:15.060 pose no threat to anyone.

00:16:16.920 The statement continuing, quote,

00:16:18.200 we stand in full solidarity

00:16:19.740 with the Kingdom of Denmark

00:16:20.900 and the people of Greenland,

00:16:22.540 warning the tariff threats

00:16:23.740 undermine transatlantic relations.

00:16:26.560 Treasury Secretary Scott Besant

00:16:28.040 yesterday on NBC arguing

00:16:29.740 Europe is not equipped

00:16:31.220 to manage long-term threats to Greenland.

00:16:33.940 If we look for years,

00:16:35.740 for over a century,

00:16:37.920 American presidents have wanted

00:16:39.460 to acquire Greenland.

00:16:40.740 And what we can see

00:16:41.840 is that Greenland is the essential

00:16:44.580 to the U.S. national security.

00:16:46.180 We're building the Golden Dome,

00:16:48.180 the missile system.

00:16:50.280 And look,

00:16:50.900 President Trump is looking,

00:16:52.820 is being strategic.

00:16:53.920 He's looking beyond this year.

00:16:55.360 He's looking beyond next year

00:16:56.680 to what could happen

00:16:57.860 for a battle in the Arctic.

00:17:00.300 We are not going to outsource

00:17:02.380 our national security.

00:17:03.820 We are not going to outsource

00:17:06.320 our hemispheric security

00:17:07.700 to other countries.

00:17:09.420 In Trump 1.0,

00:17:10.660 President Trump told the Europeans,

00:17:12.260 do not build Nord Stream 2.

00:17:15.340 Do not rely on Russian oil.

00:17:17.260 And guess what, Kristen?

00:17:18.340 Guess what is funding

00:17:19.660 Russia's efforts against Ukraine?

00:17:22.720 European purchases of Russian oil.

00:17:25.420 So America has to be in control here.

00:17:29.520 Morten Halperin,

00:17:30.440 foreign policy expert

00:17:31.460 and senior national security official

00:17:33.180 in the Johnson, Nixon,

00:17:34.580 and Clinton administrations,

00:17:36.500 and also Mark Halperin's dad,

00:17:38.980 appeared on MK Media Show

00:17:40.460 Next Up with Mark Halperin

00:17:41.920 last week.

00:17:43.100 The elder Halperin

00:17:44.180 explaining about Greenland

00:17:45.600 that the U.S.

00:17:46.620 has always thrown its weight around

00:17:48.240 with NATO countries,

00:17:49.740 making clear that

00:17:50.760 when we need something,

00:17:52.000 we expect to get it

00:17:53.180 in exchange for our outsized role

00:17:55.360 and responsibilities in NATO.

00:17:57.540 At the end of the day,

00:17:58.640 our alternative

00:17:59.260 is not to use military force.

00:18:01.220 Our alternative

00:18:02.060 is to leave NATO.

00:18:03.460 And our position has always been,

00:18:05.460 we will tell you what we need

00:18:06.900 to remain in the alliance.

00:18:08.660 And you will tell us

00:18:09.960 whether you're prepared

00:18:10.760 to do that.

00:18:12.040 And if you're not,

00:18:13.120 we won't be able

00:18:13.720 to stay in the alliance.

00:18:14.980 That's perfectly reasonable.

00:18:16.820 President Trump set to attend

00:18:18.120 the World Economic Forum

00:18:19.660 in Davos later this week,

00:18:21.240 where he is likely

00:18:21.900 to come face-to-face

00:18:22.920 with several of the

00:18:23.980 European leaders involved,

00:18:25.720 setting the stage

00:18:26.380 for direct confrontations

00:18:27.840 over Greenland.

00:18:30.720 President Trump's former fixer

00:18:32.400 turned nemesis,

00:18:33.520 Michael Cohen,

00:18:34.320 once again changing his story

00:18:36.140 when it comes to his former boss.

00:18:38.600 Cohen now claiming

00:18:39.360 he was coerced

00:18:40.360 by New York State Attorney General

00:18:42.060 Letitia James

00:18:42.960 and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg

00:18:44.780 into testifying

00:18:46.080 against Mr. Trump.

00:18:47.840 This in a sub-stack post

00:18:49.260 late Friday night.

00:18:50.840 Cohen's relationship

00:18:51.540 with President Trump

00:18:52.360 dating back to the early 2000s

00:18:53.960 when he began working

00:18:54.920 for the Trump Organization.

00:18:56.660 Cohen worked as a fixer

00:18:57.840 for Mr. Trump,

00:18:58.760 handling any issues

00:18:59.720 that came up

00:19:00.380 that might reflect poorly

00:19:01.680 on his number one client.

00:19:04.220 The relationship collapsing

00:19:05.440 in 2018

00:19:06.160 when Cohen entered

00:19:07.300 guilty pleas

00:19:08.040 in federal court

00:19:08.900 over his role

00:19:09.900 in the 2016 documents case

00:19:11.980 involving payments

00:19:13.260 to adult film actress

00:19:14.720 Stormy Daniels.

00:19:16.380 Cohen's legal trouble

00:19:17.160 expanding well beyond

00:19:18.380 those payments,

00:19:19.220 ultimately including

00:19:20.020 tax evasion,

00:19:20.980 bank fraud,

00:19:21.600 campaign finance violations,

00:19:22.900 and a separate guilty plea

00:19:24.160 for lying to Congress.

00:19:25.780 He was sentenced

00:19:26.340 to three years in prison

00:19:27.800 beginning in May of 2019,

00:19:29.840 though he was released

00:19:30.620 on house arrest

00:19:31.440 in 2020 due to COVID.

00:19:33.840 Prior to reporting to prison,

00:19:35.240 Cohen appearing

00:19:35.980 before the House

00:19:36.720 Oversight Committee

00:19:37.440 to publicly rebuke

00:19:38.940 President Trump.

00:19:39.960 Never in a million years

00:19:41.580 did I imagine

00:19:42.500 when I accepted a job

00:19:44.400 in 2007

00:19:45.700 to work for Donald Trump

00:19:47.720 that he would one day

00:19:49.100 run for the presidency

00:19:50.200 to launch a campaign

00:19:51.980 on a platform

00:19:53.060 of hate and intolerance

00:19:54.980 and actively win.

00:19:57.280 I regret the day

00:19:58.180 I said yes to Mr. Trump.

00:20:00.020 I regret all the help

00:20:01.380 and support

00:20:02.080 I gave him along the way.

00:20:03.760 I am ashamed

00:20:05.120 of my own failings

00:20:06.540 and publicly accepted

00:20:08.540 responsibility for them

00:20:10.120 by pleading guilty

00:20:11.740 in the Southern District

00:20:13.280 of New York.

00:20:14.560 I am ashamed

00:20:15.160 of my weakness

00:20:15.960 and my misplaced loyalty

00:20:17.480 of the things I did

00:20:19.100 for Mr. Trump

00:20:19.980 in an effort

00:20:21.180 to protect and promote him.

00:20:23.660 I am ashamed

00:20:24.420 that I chose

00:20:25.160 to take part

00:20:26.040 in concealing

00:20:27.420 Mr. Trump's

00:20:28.280 illicit acts

00:20:29.200 rather than listening

00:20:30.680 to my own conscience.

00:20:31.940 I am ashamed

00:20:33.540 because I know

00:20:34.740 what Mr. Trump is. 1.00

00:20:36.380 He is a racist, 1.00

00:20:37.960 he is a con man, 1.00

00:20:39.600 and he is a cheat. 1.00

00:20:41.480 Cohen's attacks 0.62

00:20:42.140 on Mr. Trump

00:20:42.880 continued throughout

00:20:43.740 the lawfare

00:20:44.420 against Donald Trump,

00:20:45.880 with Cohen appearing

00:20:46.660 in the New York State

00:20:47.940 criminal case

00:20:48.820 against Donald Trump

00:20:50.080 as well as

00:20:50.700 the Tish James

00:20:51.680 civil fraud case

00:20:52.940 against him.

00:20:54.220 In the James case,

00:20:55.220 Cohen testifying

00:20:55.940 that President Trump

00:20:56.760 inflated asset values

00:20:58.280 to secure better loans

00:20:59.560 from banks

00:21:00.140 and that he reduced

00:21:01.580 asset values

00:21:02.500 to reduce his taxes.

00:21:04.460 James calling Cohen

00:21:05.300 as her star witness,

00:21:07.080 securing a civil fraud

00:21:08.200 judgment against

00:21:09.080 President Trump

00:21:09.800 in February 2024

00:21:11.120 to the tune

00:21:12.140 of $454 million,

00:21:14.940 including interest.

00:21:16.540 In August 2025,

00:21:18.060 an appeals court

00:21:18.760 tossing the fine,

00:21:20.280 Mr. Trump still seeking

00:21:21.340 to have the judgment

00:21:22.080 tossed in its entirety.

00:21:24.340 Cohen also cooperating

00:21:25.600 with D.A. Alvin Bragg's

00:21:27.200 criminal business records case,

00:21:29.040 involving the Stormy Daniels

00:21:31.020 payments against Donald Trump.

00:21:32.980 That case in 2024,

00:21:34.360 landing a 34-count felony

00:21:36.460 conviction against Trump.

00:21:38.480 In November,

00:21:39.180 a federal appeals court

00:21:40.380 ordering the lower court

00:21:41.360 to reconsider the request

00:21:42.720 from Mr. Trump

00:21:43.880 to move that case

00:21:44.720 to federal court.

00:21:45.920 That issue remains ongoing.

00:21:48.000 When not collaborating

00:21:49.320 with Tish James

00:21:50.440 and Alvin Bragg,

00:21:52.020 Cohen running to

00:21:52.700 every media outlet

00:21:54.400 that he could

00:21:55.140 to trash talk

00:21:56.240 his former client.

00:21:57.800 Cohen also pending

00:21:58.620 not one but two books,

00:22:00.400 a 2020 memoir

00:22:01.320 titled Disloyal

00:22:02.780 and 2022's Revenge,

00:22:05.280 how Donald Trump

00:22:06.100 weaponized the U.S.

00:22:07.380 Department of Justice

00:22:08.180 against his critics.

00:22:10.000 Cohen also hosts

00:22:11.040 two shows,

00:22:12.380 Political Beatdown

00:22:13.480 and Mea Culpa.

00:22:15.280 His entire public persona

00:22:17.400 centering around

00:22:18.360 his death match

00:22:19.320 with President Trump.

00:22:20.880 At least,

00:22:21.640 it was until Friday night.

00:22:24.260 Cohen now suddenly

00:22:25.500 portraying events

00:22:26.360 very differently.

00:22:27.940 Writing,

00:22:28.140 quote,

00:22:28.920 There are moments

00:22:29.760 when silence

00:22:30.660 becomes complicity.

00:22:32.360 When letting the record

00:22:33.140 stand without context

00:22:34.540 feels less like restraint

00:22:36.320 and more like consent.

00:22:38.360 This is one of those moments.

00:22:40.580 This guy.

00:22:42.440 Cohen now attempting

00:22:43.260 to recast his role

00:22:44.460 in the prosecutions

00:22:45.300 of President Trump,

00:22:46.540 arguing that

00:22:47.080 his cooperation

00:22:48.160 was the result

00:22:49.660 of pressure

00:22:50.500 and coercion. 0.98

00:22:52.660 Cohen acknowledging

00:22:53.280 his cooperation

00:22:53.960 was driven

00:22:54.600 out of a desire

00:22:55.800 to lessen

00:22:56.300 his own prison sentence,

00:22:57.920 but going on

00:22:58.480 to accuse

00:22:59.000 James and Bragg

00:23:00.040 of only being

00:23:01.100 interested in testimony,

00:23:02.400 quote,

00:23:02.960 that would enable them

00:23:04.120 to convict

00:23:04.800 President Trump.

00:23:06.420 Cohen writes

00:23:06.860 of James and Bragg,

00:23:07.740 quote,

00:23:08.300 Both used their platforms

00:23:09.480 to elevate their profiles

00:23:10.860 to claim the mantle

00:23:12.040 of the officials

00:23:12.720 who took down Trump.

00:23:14.560 In doing so,

00:23:15.260 they blurred the line

00:23:16.140 between justice

00:23:16.840 and politics,

00:23:17.840 and in that blur,

00:23:18.900 the credibility

00:23:19.400 of both suffered.

00:23:20.720 We know.

00:23:22.620 The rest of us

00:23:23.500 have been saying this

00:23:24.600 for years.

00:23:26.020 You were on the other side,

00:23:27.340 sir.

00:23:28.300 The progressive

00:23:28.940 Midas Touch Network

00:23:30.400 quickly moving

00:23:31.260 to drop

00:23:32.060 Michael Cohen's podcasts

00:23:33.360 from its company

00:23:34.480 after his latest 180.

00:23:36.720 In a follow-up post

00:23:37.720 acknowledging

00:23:38.280 the loss of his platform,

00:23:40.020 Cohen's motivations

00:23:40.740 coming into sharper focus

00:23:41.940 as he writes,

00:23:42.680 quote,

00:23:43.240 Some have claimed

00:23:44.220 that my Friday post

00:23:45.440 was motivated

00:23:46.120 by a desire

00:23:46.980 for a pardon.

00:23:48.700 Let me be honest.

00:23:49.540 Of course,

00:23:50.800 I would welcome

00:23:51.880 the erasure

00:23:52.480 of a felony conviction.

00:23:54.320 Who wouldn't?

00:23:55.480 But the request

00:23:56.340 I have before the White House

00:23:57.660 is far larger

00:23:59.000 than me.

00:24:01.080 The ever-benevolent

00:24:02.920 Cohen

00:24:03.240 then going on

00:24:04.180 to describe

00:24:04.720 an executive order

00:24:05.700 he and Jesse Jackson Jr.

00:24:08.460 are pushing

00:24:09.000 to grant clemency

00:24:10.400 to non-violent felons

00:24:12.560 who have served out

00:24:14.000 their sentences.

00:24:15.380 Good luck

00:24:15.900 with that, sir.

00:24:19.540 And that'll do it

00:24:20.440 for your AM update.
