00:01:00.740 Welcome to The Megyn Kelly Show, live on Sirius XM Channel 111 every weekday at New East.
00:01:12.420 Hey everyone, I'm Megyn Kelly. Welcome to The Megyn Kelly Show and happy Thursday.
00:01:16.260 We have a great show for you today. The author of a new book about Tom Brady will be here next
00:01:20.640 hour with explosive revelations about his marriage to and divorce from Giselle.
00:01:27.980 But we begin today with the latest on Representative Ilhan Omar.
00:01:31.660 We've been telling you about the federal raid at her Washington, D.C. residence.
00:01:35.640 Well, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the feds have seized her phone, personal notebooks, personal computers and her passport.
00:01:45.380 Now, why would they want her passport? Probably to see the DOB, right?
00:01:49.740 What what is her birth date there? And when did she apply for the passport?
00:01:54.040 And that's kind of interesting, isn't it? She may have gone back and changed her date of birth on her Minnesota website for when she was a state representative there.
00:02:05.120 But did she bother to go back and change the passport? And how long has she had the passport?
00:02:09.560 Because if she had it before she knew she needed to say that she was 17 when her dad was naturalized, as opposed to 18, which it appears she actually was, there could be some proof there.
00:02:19.720 The investigation is reportedly looking into whether she committed immigration fraud,
00:02:24.220 and the Trump admin is aiming to build a case to strip her of her U.S. citizenship.
00:02:29.900 We told you that earlier this week, and obviously it's the play because if she's not a U.S. 0.97
00:02:37.200 citizen legitimately, then who cares if she's 32 points up in her district? 1.00
00:02:42.680 She's going to lose that seat, and it may not happen before the November election, 1.00
00:02:47.340 but that's irrelevant. If the Trump administration can prove that this woman 0.99
00:02:51.940 is not a legitimate U.S. citizen, she's going to lose her citizenship and she will not be 0.87
00:02:57.080 eligible to hold that seat any longer. That's the facts. Most electrolytes on the market 0.83
00:03:03.520 are packed with artificial flavors, with stevia, with table salt. But let me tell you about
00:03:09.240 buoy electrolyte drops. What is buoy? It's a clean, purposely unflavored liquid electrolyte
00:03:16.200 formula, packed with 87 ocean-harvested trace minerals. Love this. You can add a quick squeeze
00:03:23.000 to any drink, even your morning coffee or matcha, without changing the taste at all. This is so
00:03:28.720 great. I hate it when you put one of these supplements in your drink and it ruins your drink.
00:03:33.080 It's free from sugars, sweeteners, artificial ingredients, or synthetic flavors, and third-party
00:03:37.960 tested for impurities and heavy metals. Plus, it's backed by real science. Bowie says a
00:03:43.920 university-led clinical trial published in the journal Nutrients showed that Bowie is clinically
00:03:48.940 proven to hydrate 64% more than water alone and 49% more than leading sports drinks. If you want
00:03:56.080 to make your favorite drinks instantly more hydrating, head to justadbowie.com slash Megan.
00:04:01.580 Bowie is B-U-O-Y, justadbowie.com slash Megan. Use that code Megan to get your 31% off the liquid
00:04:09.220 electrolyte discovery set backed by a 30-day risk-free guarantee. And if you or someone you
00:04:14.820 know is living with a chronic illness, Bowie can help offset healthcare costs through their chronic
00:04:20.260 illness lifetime support program. It takes just two minutes to apply. Specifically, the feds are
00:04:27.640 now looking at whether Omar or her father changed her age on her citizen application
00:04:34.380 back when he was naturalized, and we went through it yesterday. If you missed yesterday's episode,
00:04:40.180 you can download it, but we went through in great detail the evidence that she was actually
00:04:44.620 18 at that time and not 17, as she would have had to be to sort of get citizenship thanks to her
00:04:52.500 dad's naturalization. There's also a real question about whether the dad was naturalized lawfully,
00:04:58.540 um whether he lied you know we talked yesterday about how she she referred to him as a teacher
00:05:05.600 or he referred to himself as a teacher allegedly where it turns out he was a colonel in an army of
00:05:11.500 a very brutal ruler who was killing between 50 and 200,000 Somalis including mostly civilians
00:05:21.300 so did he commit fraud and if he committed fraud then she doesn't benefit from then his
00:05:27.600 naturalization wouldn't stand. He's dead now, but nor would hers. There's a few different ways to
00:05:32.960 come at this. So she could be in a lot of trouble. And now the reporting on her is expanding. 0.98
00:05:42.080 And we're now taking a look at those around her because the reports are that multiple family
00:05:48.300 members received subpoenas yesterday and or two days ago. The AAP is reporting that
00:05:56.040 the subpoenas were issued for a grand jury collecting evidence in Minnesota as federal
00:06:02.540 authorities probe potential fraud in Omar's immigration paperwork, said one person who
00:06:07.840 spoke to them, and that several of her relatives have received subpoenas. Now, this is very
00:06:12.580 interesting because if there's a grand jury in Minnesota that is probing fraud, the question is
00:06:21.760 here the AP reports probing fraud in her immigration paperwork, but I'm not sure a
00:06:28.880 Minnesota grand jury would be probing that. I think there may be potentially a couple of things going
00:06:34.760 on here because we heard Janine Pirro say it's her office leading this investigation when she
00:06:39.680 was on Fox the other day. Now it's been reported that Mark Wayne Mullen, our DHS secretary, has
00:06:46.680 suggested that they are examining potential crimes related to her family's immigration paperwork.
00:06:51.620 So there's that, what I just went through, the dad, her, the naturalization. But a grand jury
00:06:56.860 in Minnesota could very well be looking at the family fraud with respect to Somali citizens. 0.97
00:07:04.280 You know how all these citizens of Minnesota, residents, I guess, I don't know if they're all 0.98
00:07:08.260 American citizens, but residents of Minnesota have been like defrauding the federal government,
00:07:13.140 you and me, and sending money back to Somalia. So I think this really is multi-pronged.
00:07:21.120 CNN is reporting that they, yes, indeed, they're focused on whether her deceased father lied about
00:07:28.520 her age when she obtained citizenship in 2000. And then they remind us that Ilhan Omar has been
00:07:37.060 under criminal investigation for years, including before Trump took office last year. Of course,
00:07:43.380 the DOJ under Joe Biden decided to just walk away, not pursue it. And now it's being pursued.
00:07:50.460 That's changed. And CNN is explaining that this case was reopened last year. It's now being led
00:07:56.060 by prosecutors in the deputy AG's office. All right. So that would be under Todd Blanche and
00:08:02.180 in the U.S. Attorney's Office in Minneapolis, and the U.S. Attorney's Office in D.C. has also been
00:08:09.360 involved. So that's why I say this thing is multi-pronged. Janine Pirro, I think, is zeroing
00:08:15.820 in on the citizenship question. I'll bet you the Minnesota U.S. Attorney is probing some of that
00:08:26.780 because, I mean, while her Minnesota residence has not been raided that we know of, there could
00:08:31.780 be paperwork there speaking to it. And the fraud would have allegedly been committed there. They
00:08:36.620 weren't living in Washington, DC when she filled out this paperwork. Um, and the AG's office as
00:08:42.280 well, maybe probing into what, what else was done, uh, once she got here and put down roots.
00:08:51.180 Okay. Because she, her sister reportedly, well, first the New York times reported that the sister
00:08:57.160 was served with a subpoena,
00:08:58.880 but then Jesse Waters on Fox last night
00:09:01.320 reported that the sister,
00:09:04.200 she can't be found.
00:09:06.920 NBC's Kelly O'Donnell said the same.
00:09:10.360 The sister's name is Sarah Noor,
00:09:13.260 and we don't know where the sister is.
00:09:17.400 What happened to the sister?
00:09:19.980 We know the Bresbend is back in the UK,
00:09:22.540 but we don't know where the sister is,
00:09:25.140 and the reporting on the sister is also troubling.
00:09:30.480 Now, let me tell you why it is the sister likely got a subpoena,
00:09:34.660 or at least they tried to serve her with one.
00:09:36.500 Number one, she could certainly speak to whether Omar married her brusband,
00:09:41.200 the brusband brother, brother-husband.
00:09:46.760 But number two, the sister may have been involved in some fraud shenanigans of her own.
00:09:52.200 And, you know, all of this, I haven't even mentioned the funny business on Ilhan Omar's financial disclosures in the U.S. House, you know, with that business, that winery her husband had opened, which went from $51,000 of income in one year up to $6 million the next, or $30 million, and then back down to nothing.
00:10:13.020 That's very odd.
00:10:14.840 Very, very odd.
00:10:16.300 But anyway, the sister.
00:10:18.220 this is uh the daily wires luke rosiak reported this in july about the sister that she incorporated
00:10:25.060 her 20 million dollar usa id company using the same home address because when you incorporate
00:10:32.440 a business whether it's a usa id company or other you have to list an address and she used as her
00:10:40.820 home address at the time, the same address as one occupied by people directly involved in the
00:10:52.720 massive fraud scandal that is now being investigated and prosecuted by the Feds.
00:10:57.500 So Ilhan Omar's sister wrote down as her home address when she incorporated her own 20 million
00:11:04.560 USAID company, an address at which people were living who are directly involved in the fraud
00:11:12.780 scandal. One of them pleaded guilty in 2022 to wire fraud for stealing $7 million. Why does she
00:11:19.340 have the same home address listed as that person? What does that mean? Was she saying that they're
00:11:25.920 doing business together out of that address? Was she saying that actually is her home where she
00:11:30.020 lives, her residence, her abode. Either way, it's very suspicious and it's not good.
00:11:36.640 Was this sister directly involved in the Somali fraud scandal coming out of Minneapolis that has
00:11:42.700 dominated the headlines for the past 12 months? Did Ilhan Omar know about it? Does it explain
00:11:49.160 the massive increase in wealth in Ilhan Omar's financial disclosure, which then magically got
00:11:55.240 erased once Congress started looking into it. All these questions are going to be asked and
00:12:02.160 they're seeking answers on them right now. So this sister, Sarah Noor, has run several businesses in
00:12:09.120 the region, including the People's Center Clinics and Services in the Somali neighborhood of
00:12:14.380 Minneapolis, which received a $2 million earmark while Omar was a state representative. Oh gee,
00:12:19.820 How'd she manage that? She went on to find to found a group called Grit Partners Consulting.
00:12:26.340 She publicly says that company, quote, has secured more than 20 million dollars in funding for health
00:12:30.460 initiatives and has, quote, consulted on projects backed by federal health agencies such as USAID
00:12:37.500 and Centers for Disease Control. Of course, USAID, it was effectively targeted by Trump,
00:12:42.540 who said this is a front for absurd Democrat wishlist projects that the American taxpayer 0.85
00:12:47.920 should not be paying, and he and Ilan got excoriated for it, but they were right. Ilan Omar's 1.00
00:12:54.860 sister appears to have been one of the beneficiaries. Now, Grip Partners was incorporated at this home
00:12:59.420 on Hyacinth Avenue in Lakeville, Minnesota. And who lived there? Somebody problematic, as I said.
00:13:08.200 It's occupied by Masha Ahmed Ali and his wife, Ister Ahmed Afra.
00:13:16.620 Well, old Ister has had some issues.
00:13:20.140 According to incorporation records, Ister Ahmed Afra, again, who occupies the house that Omar's sister listed as her home when she incorporated Grit Partners,
00:13:33.700 she um opened a company called sunrise business center inc alongside a person named hannah
00:13:42.220 marikin m-a-r-e-k-e-g-n and marikin is directly involved in the fraud scandal
00:13:49.280 pleading guilty in 2022 to wire fraud for stealing seven million dollars
00:13:53.920 marikin claimed to be feeding 4 000 poor children a day instead she bought a mansion for herself 0.68
00:14:00.620 claiming that she embodied the American dream.
00:14:04.160 Marikin testified under oath
00:14:05.540 that she falsely alleged racism
00:14:07.040 to manipulate Minnesota bureaucrats
00:14:08.760 to look the other way at this scandal.
00:14:13.140 Okay, so it's occupied,
00:14:14.880 the home is occupied by Masha Ahmed Ali
00:14:17.520 and his wife, Ishtar Ahmed Afra.
00:14:20.840 And Afra opened this company
00:14:25.020 alongside Hannah Marikin.
00:14:27.900 They opened Sunrise Business Center.
00:14:29.940 So her partner is this Marikin, and that is the one directly involved in the fraud scandal. So I should correct the way I phrased it earlier. It's not necessarily the wife Esther who pleaded guilty. It is not the wife Esther who pleaded guilty. It's her business partner, Hannah Marikin. And Hannah Marikin is directly involved in the fraud scandal.
00:14:52.800 So there's the linkage. Problematic, potentially troubling, potentially. And one of the many things, undoubtedly, the feds are looking into right now. So that's the latest on Ilhan Omar. Her phone is in the possession of the federal authorities, as is her laptop, as is her passport. And we're getting closer and closer on whether this person even belongs in the United States.
00:15:16.280 I mean, what a what a turn that would be if she did not.
00:15:21.680 Lots of news out there right now about the midterms.
00:15:24.400 The biggest headline is that the Senate races are tightening and it's no longer a foregone
00:15:31.340 conclusion that the Senate is gone, that it could be down to maybe just a loss of a net
00:15:38.180 loss of one seat for the Republicans based on the way the polling is looking right now
00:15:43.280 and how things are tightening.
00:15:44.540 Nobody knows anything.
00:15:45.780 Nobody knows nothing about nothing.
00:15:47.820 So, you know, we're going to have to wait until we get to November to find out.
00:15:50.720 But it is interesting to watch some of the machinations and none more so than what I saw in Maine. 0.56
00:15:57.140 Okay, the cousin stupper, Troy Jackson, the guy who's making babies with his own second cousin, which is gross.
00:16:06.260 He's taking on Susan Collins.
00:16:08.680 And the Susan Collins Maine race is very interesting.
00:16:10.780 It's like Maine is not very red, but they like Susan Collins.
00:16:14.360 and she really has shown independence when it comes to Trump.
00:16:17.220 She's definitely tried to stand up to Trump.
00:16:18.820 That's why MAGA doesn't really like her.
00:16:21.220 But it's the reason why she's still holding on
00:16:22.760 and why Republicans have at least a shot 1.00
00:16:24.240 of holding onto that seat.
00:16:26.640 So he's trying to take her down
00:16:28.060 and he's been a couple of points ahead.
00:16:29.660 It's been back and forth.
00:16:30.720 She was up like 0.5 over him,
00:16:33.480 not five, but 0.5 over him recently.
00:16:37.580 But now he's recaptured the lead.
00:16:39.020 It's like, depending on the poll,
00:16:40.460 one of them will be one or two points up.
00:16:42.620 So this is neck and neck.
00:16:44.360 Well, they've had a series of four debates.
00:16:46.000 You remember we showed you the one last Monday
00:16:48.160 where they were debating salt.
00:16:51.700 Well, they had one the other night
00:16:54.000 and credit to The Daily
00:16:56.840 because they had a good show today
00:16:58.160 talking about some of these issues.
00:16:59.940 And one of the correspondents on there
00:17:01.380 chose this as their most telling soundbite.
00:17:03.560 I had missed it, thankfully, kind of,
00:17:06.620 but now I want you to hear it because I had to. 0.97
00:17:09.580 This guy, Troy Jackson, he's so gross. 0.95
00:17:13.120 In the middle of one of her answers, he burped. Watch this. 0.98
00:17:19.940 I have proven time and time again that I deliver for the state of Maine. 0.93
00:17:27.880 How gross is he? Like, there's something wrong with this man. Who would do that? 0.96
00:17:35.040 It's just so bizarre. Like, who would just let it out? You know, like, where else was gas coming
00:17:41.360 out of Troy Jackson that night. It makes you wonder, makes you really glad maybe they weren't
00:17:45.460 right next to each other on the debate stage if he was feeling so gassy during the middle of a
00:17:51.320 debate for the U.S. Senate. It's disgusting. He's gross. I don't know that this is going to turn an 0.97
00:17:59.420 election, but I agree with the correspondent on The Daily. It's telling. It's disgusting.
00:18:04.220 It doesn't reflect well. It's beneath the dignity. Get it together, sir. But anybody who's going to 0.77
00:18:09.740 F their cousin. I mean, truly, how can you trust them not to be disgusting? 0.99
00:18:14.460 Is this what we want in the U.S. Senate, my friends in Maine? 0.53
00:18:17.680 Susan Collins, she's done a good job for Maine.
00:18:20.460 I mean, she actually does look out for Maine.
00:18:22.720 She tries to get as much pork for Maine in whatever spending bill she can. 1.00
00:18:26.720 That's her job. It's not necessarily something the taxpayers nationally love.
00:18:31.720 But let's let's not be ridiculous. 0.97
00:18:33.900 This person is an absurd person and cannot go to the U.S. Senate. 1.00
00:18:36.820 And I actually do think Susan Collins will pull out this race. 0.84
00:18:39.740 So down in Texas, you know, it's anybody's ballgame. Ken Paxton had an ad cut for him by his ex-wife. She didn't mention his name, but she got on camera and talked about voting for the party. Like, what's important is to back the party.
00:19:00.060 And she's a Republican and also a politician.
00:19:03.220 And so clearly it was as close as she was willing to get to saying, vote for my gross 1.00
00:19:08.940 ex-husband who cheated on me and was just seen in tape.
00:19:13.080 It was from 2024, but overseas in the Middle East with his affair partner and two people
00:19:19.200 who are facing, I don't know, some sort of criminal problems back at home.
00:19:24.780 It just every day brings another negative headline about Ken Paxton, who really doesn't
00:19:29.580 seem like a good man at all. But on the other side, you've got James Tallarico, who had a CNN
00:19:37.200 town hall last night in which he was trying to tell us that abortion is not a sin covered in the
00:19:47.500 Bible. Here he is where a Catholic woman had asked him about it. Saffor. We may come to different
00:19:55.000 moral and ethical conclusions when it comes to the question of should abortion be legal or not
00:20:00.900 it sounds like you and i do come to a different conclusion that's okay uh you know we're both
00:20:05.120 christians and and the bible is silent on the issue of abortion it means you and i both have
00:20:10.840 to look at at different scriptures to try to come to a conclusion but what i think do we do is
00:20:16.900 actually come together on reducing the number of unplanned pregnancies and the number of abortions
00:20:23.780 because if we treat this issue as a public health problem and not a culture war problem then we can
00:20:31.580 actually make progress together i also want to see fewer unplanned or unwanted pregnancies i want to
00:20:37.780 see fewer abortions and so you and i actually have the same goal we may have different um moral
00:20:44.740 conclusions when it comes to this particular uh ethical question but we actually have the same
00:20:50.840 public policy goal. Okay, so that woman's name is Jodi Hunt, and she had a quick correction 1.00
00:20:57.100 for the seminarian, Tallarico. Listen here. I just wanted to add that the Bible is not silent
00:21:04.600 on abortion. There is the Ten Commandments, that shall not kill. And as Catholics, we take great
00:21:09.300 insults, I guess, sometimes when it's sprouted that way. Yeah, you think? This is ridiculous.
00:21:18.680 The Bible's silent on the killing of unborn babies. 0.98
00:21:22.760 The most vulnerable among us. 0.98
00:21:25.860 Yeah, she's right.
00:21:26.900 It's covered.
00:21:27.840 And there are other passages in the Bible that are arguably covered as well.
00:21:31.280 But this is an absurd debate.
00:21:32.680 And there he is.
00:21:33.180 I mean, really, this guy is running for U.S. senator from the state of Texas.
00:21:38.660 So Texans are going to elect that?
00:21:43.260 I think they might.
00:21:44.240 I don't know. 1.00
00:21:44.840 I really don't know how this race is going to go. 0.85
00:21:47.180 I've said before, and I do think that up in Michigan, El Sayed is going to win.
00:21:53.380 And I'll get to him in a second.
00:21:54.700 But down in Texas, even though Ken Paxton really seems pretty gross, he did like, I
00:22:00.020 understand.
00:22:00.560 I don't, I don't know if I could pull the lever for him.
00:22:02.920 I really don't.
00:22:03.620 I just, I would never vote for Tallarico, but I can relate to those Texans who are like, 1.00
00:22:08.140 I'm going to stay at home. 1.00
00:22:08.860 I can't, I can't tolerate this.
00:22:11.620 And here's, here's one of the problems that Republicans down there I know are dealing
00:22:15.380 with. Paxton's so gross and so morally bankrupt. I mean, he was impeached by his own party. 0.95
00:22:22.640 You know, he's cheated on the wife. His own staff turned him in for unethical behavior. Like eight
00:22:30.020 of them turned him in. This wasn't like one rogue employee. Eight of them said that he's like
00:22:34.700 self-dealing with this guy. He's not behaving ethically. And so like, there's just been a lot
00:22:40.020 around him. I think the problem in saying you got to hold your nose and vote for him is that they
00:22:47.620 just did that with Donald Trump. They know that Trump was a serial adulterer and had some ethical
00:22:55.180 lapses, arguably. And certainly those things around, you know, whatever, some of the allegations
00:23:02.200 that were hurled at him by Jack Smith may have been ethical problems, but not legal ones.
00:23:09.040 And so they kind of said, I'm going to overlook all that and I'm going to trust Trump.
00:23:13.400 And once Trump got into office, there's been a fair amount of self-dealing and breaking
00:23:18.800 of promises, like big ones, like the war in the Middle East and so on.
00:23:23.140 So I think it's a problem.
00:23:25.680 That's why Governor Abbott is not campaigning with Trump down in Texas.
00:23:29.480 And he's in quite a tight race himself.
00:23:31.480 So like Republicans, some of them, because Trump's popularity with Republicans is at a surprising low.
00:23:40.700 It's in the low 70s now, where it was in the high 90s.
00:23:44.660 And it's over some of these issues.
00:23:46.620 So you're asking those same people, you know, these races are going to come down to thousands of votes.
00:23:52.040 We're not talking about millions.
00:23:53.080 So that those numbers matter, that fall in support, to take a risk.
00:23:58.480 And then they're responsible for what Paxton does when he's in office.
00:24:02.740 And I think a lot of them just don't want that responsibility.
00:24:05.500 But if you don't vote, kind of have the responsibility either.
00:24:09.060 Anyway, you know, it's like if you don't vote and Tallarico wins, you're kind of responsible for him winning.
00:24:14.980 At least I think.
00:24:16.480 Anyway, I don't envy you, my Texas friends.
00:24:19.800 And Tallarico, here's one of the problems.
00:24:22.160 What he exhibited with CNN last night, and I would never vote for him.
00:24:26.580 I never, never. God is non-binary. And the thing about Mary, Mother Mary being pro-choice. Okay. I'll get to that in a second just to remind you. But Tallarico has a arguable sense of charm. I'm not charmed by him, but I can see how others might be because he's a good talker. 1.00
00:24:51.420 And he has like a nice affect to the way he delivers a message.
00:24:55.300 And he's kind of smiley.
00:24:57.220 And I mean, what's the main thing you think of when you think of Paxton?
00:24:59.700 How unattractive he is and how Trump is always underlining it.
00:25:04.600 Trump's doing that to try to neutralize his very strange appearance.
00:25:10.020 You know, it's got the weird eye thing.
00:25:11.520 I don't, whatever.
00:25:12.980 But that's contrasted against Tallarico.
00:25:15.960 You know, one is like smiley and sort of, I don't know, affable seeming Tallarico.
00:25:23.100 And one is like, oh, God, isn't he best known for cheating on his wife?
00:25:27.200 She filed for divorce on biblical grounds.
00:25:29.540 It's just not a great contrast.
00:25:31.680 This is what the GOP is up against.
00:25:33.700 Here is that same Catholic, Jody Hunt, who was standing up for the unborn by the end of that CNN town hall, SOT 7.
00:25:42.380 But I was really impressed with him this evening. 0.99
00:25:46.540 I think over the last few months between him and Paxton and the mudslinging, like that first question that was asked, 0.99
00:25:52.800 has caused a lot of noise where I haven't really heard from Tallarico himself.
00:25:59.300 And I found a more balanced politician.
00:26:01.740 I was surprised at how centrist he was on many of the issues.
00:26:05.580 And I think that has brought me to a deeper understanding.
00:26:09.420 um it's caused some things for me to think well let me rethink that and let me you know and i
00:26:14.460 liked his i liked that he responded to me i like that he invited us to sit down and challenge him
00:26:19.160 um because oftentimes catholics we focus on that one issue yeah and um to have someone say well
00:26:25.320 let's talk about it let's come to a common ground there's no common ground on abortion
00:26:30.520 what kind of an answer is that i guess she's not like a diehard catholic i'm not sure that there's
00:26:35.840 it's not ambiguous um i i like i wouldn't consider myself extremely religious but i i know that one
00:26:44.160 um i've got two kids who just had their confirmations and a third who just started
00:26:48.920 his classes and they're pretty clear on abortion so i there's no compromise on abortion i don't
00:26:56.300 even know what she's saying but he was given this forum in which they pre-selected individuals to
00:27:01.900 come up and ask him questions. And he handled them fine. And he's a smooth talker. So this is
00:27:08.580 what the Republicans are up against down in Texas. If Paxton pulls this thing out, it will be because
00:27:14.240 they are dumping. The GOP is dumping money into that race like there's no tomorrow. And by the
00:27:20.120 GOP, I mean Elon Musk. Ken Paxton better get down on his knees and kiss Elon Musk's feet if he wins
00:27:27.960 this thing because he put some nearly $200 million, well, over $300 million into Republican
00:27:34.540 races and a ton of it down in Texas where Elon moved his business when California lost its mind.
00:27:41.860 So that's what'll do it. It'll be all the negative ads against Tallarico and a general propensity
00:27:48.740 amongst Texas voters to vote red. But I don't know how that race is going to come down. And then
00:27:55.060 there's Michigan, where the GOP is doing everything it can do out of a playbook that
00:28:00.760 has worked for them for many, many years to paint El-Sayed as a radical who's a radical Muslim
00:28:06.580 with connections to radical Muslims. And he does have some. Like, they're not wrong that he's got
00:28:14.480 some connections, at least, to some pretty radical people. He was palling around with, you know,
00:28:20.280 Hassan Piker, a very controversial left-wing podcaster who said America deserved 9-11.
00:28:27.480 I mean, honestly, tell it to the three-year-old girl who was on the plane trying to go to Disney. 1.00
00:28:31.900 Fuck off. 1.00
00:28:32.480 I just, I can't with this guy. 1.00
00:28:33.960 But it's not really a great spokesperson for your campaign, El-Sayed. 0.97
00:28:39.360 But he did.
00:28:41.860 But the GOP is trying very hard to paint him as a radical.
00:28:45.900 and the latest attempt has to do with his mother
00:28:51.000 who I guess did not raise him.
00:28:53.420 His mother seems like a rather radical person
00:28:55.460 but his parents divorced when he was three
00:28:58.260 and he was raised by his father and his stepmother
00:29:00.460 but the mother had some questionable ties
00:29:03.800 and you may recall that Kristen Welker of Meet the Press
00:29:06.840 asked El-Sayed about whether anybody in his family
00:29:09.800 had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood
00:29:11.220 on Meet the Press last week
00:29:12.840 and he said no. He was explicit about it. And then it emerged that his mother does indeed,
00:29:19.900 or at least did indeed, have multiple ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, and it wasn't particularly
00:29:24.180 quiet. It was not a secret. Now, it was a while ago, and I have no idea what the current status
00:29:29.300 is. I don't know anything about the mother present day or whether they have a relationship.
00:29:34.000 He did mention her and describe her in great detail in his book, so it's not like he has
00:29:38.060 no knowledge of her. It's not like she abandoned him and never came back. But here he was
00:29:43.400 confronted by an NBC reporter about all of this. And this is how that went. Watch.
00:29:48.660 Tweets have emerged now. Had an amazing talk with my mom about her activism in the Muslim
00:29:52.860 Brotherhood during the early 70s while she was in college. Hashtag respect. My family has long
00:29:57.800 been an MB. Let me finish. Praying for all my family that supports the MB in Egypt. Can you 1.00
00:30:01.620 just explain it? Yeah, Tom. It's funny to me. I was born in 1984 down the street in Rochester Hills.
00:30:08.060 I was raised here in Michigan, went to the University of Michigan, rebuilt the health
00:30:11.380 department in this city, led the health department in this county.
00:30:14.200 And you want to ask me about what was happening in Egypt in 1970?
00:30:16.580 Are you serious?
00:30:17.180 I get it, but you were asked a question and you gave an answer.
00:30:19.840 This is kind of like the same.
00:30:20.560 Yeah, I'm telling you, I have no ties.
00:30:22.840 We have no ties.
00:30:23.660 So your mother had no ties?
00:30:24.940 I have never had these conversations with my mother.
00:30:27.500 I wasn't raised by my mother.
00:30:28.360 So you were unaware?
00:30:29.360 But I'm just telling you that you're using hearsay evidence from a tweet.
00:30:33.400 It's just not serious.
00:30:34.480 It's just not serious.
00:30:34.920 But you've also gone after the president for truthfulness.
00:30:36.800 You've also gone after the president for truthfulness.
00:30:38.660 So when people ask you a question, they all do expect the truth.
00:30:41.140 And do you think do you think are you are you insinuating that somehow I was lying?
00:30:44.520 I don't know.
00:30:45.160 That's why I'm asking.
00:30:45.840 And I'm telling you I was not.
00:30:48.560 OK, so clearly the mother did have ties because those tweets that he was being asked about
00:30:52.580 were from El Sayed's half sister who's got the same mother and they're still up.
00:30:59.140 They haven't been taken down.
00:31:00.420 I mean, the mother seems rather sketchy, but and his answer was sketchy there.
00:31:06.400 You heard him dodging. It's hearsay. What the fuck? We're not in a courtroom. What do you mean to answer it? Does she have the ties or doesn't she? This is your half sister saying this. We're not in a courtroom. We're allowed to have out of court statements offered for the truth of the matter. Grow up. Clearly, he's got an MD, not a JD, or he'd know that he already knows that he's just manipulating. He doesn't want to say it.
00:31:23.800 I mean, honestly, he should say what my half sister may know better than I.
00:31:30.060 You should ask her. But I my mother wasn't an active part of my life and I have no ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, nor do I approve of any ties a family member may or may not have had.
00:31:40.360 Like, just say that. OK, but here's the thing.
00:31:43.080 So the GOP is rightfully raising this. And surprisingly, an NBC News anchor raised it, too.
00:31:46.980 I don't think it's going to work. And the reason I don't think it's going to work is because the
00:31:52.040 anger over Israel is white hot. It's white hot. Amongst independents, which are probably going
00:32:00.380 to decide this race and amongst enough Republicans that they're not going to pull the lever for a
00:32:06.460 Mike Rogers. The Republicans who are very, very angry at Trump over this war are not going to
00:32:12.900 vote for a neocon GOP, period. They're not. So Rogers is not going to get those people
00:32:21.700 off the couch for him. And continuing to point out El-Sayed's radical ties aren't going to do
00:32:28.400 it because there is that, you know, remember El-Sayed in the debate wouldn't say who's a
00:32:32.280 greater danger, Israel or Iran. And the reason he wouldn't say that is because he understands
00:32:37.100 there's a large constituency out there that while they understand Israel's not launching
00:32:41.360 attacks on us and helping bomb our troops in places like Iraq when we were there, they
00:32:49.600 are responsible in the eyes of millions of Americans for getting us involved in the Iran 0.61
00:32:53.800 war in a way that even Iran wasn't able to do.
00:32:58.340 So I just don't think this is a fruitful line of attack.
00:33:01.760 I genuinely don't.
00:33:03.180 I'd be pouring over his, you know, Medicare for all pushes and how that's going to deprive 0.88
00:33:08.640 people of their private health insurance eventually and his trans stance, which is as radical as they
00:33:14.560 come. I'd be pushing that stuff. I would not be pushing this stuff if I were in charge of 0.71
00:33:18.600 Mike Rogers' campaign or the GOP's efforts to take him down. Okay. I want to keep going.
00:33:26.420 Lots of other things to discuss. I want to get back to what happened. Well, let me just cover
00:33:32.540 the Shane Gillis thing because we haven't talked about that on this program. You know, Shane Gillis
00:33:38.360 is a comedian. He got canceled several years ago from a job on SNL because he was doing it. It came
00:33:46.680 out after he took the job that he had done a comedy, but he's a comedian imitating an Asian
00:33:52.520 speaker. It was funny. Like lighten up my God. It doesn't make you hate Asians because you choose
00:34:00.780 to imitate an Asian with an Asian accent. Like this is so absurd. We can do this with virtual. 0.74
00:34:06.300 In fact, when I imitate a Russian and I use a Russian accent, no one's going to call me a racist.
00:34:11.640 Like what? It's just like Asians. You're not allowed to do it. 1.00
00:34:16.380 I don't make these rules. And honestly, I don't respect these rules either, which is why I no longer work at NBC.
00:34:23.180 So Shane Gillis, like yours truly, lost a job at NBC because he wasn't politically correct.
00:34:29.160 And then over time, as even, I guess, NBC loosened up, they had Shane Gillis back on SNL to host, I guess this was his third time.
00:34:38.680 So he went out there and he made a comment about women looking like prostitutes at the gym with their teeny weenie bikini outfits that try to pass for clothing.
00:34:50.000 I have seen this. 0.99
00:34:51.020 If you go to gyms, you have seen this and it is ridiculous.
00:34:53.480 And I do feel like I have a leg to stand on here as a former, actually quite serious aerobics
00:35:00.760 instructor. I actually did teach aerobics for some 15 years at a very high level nonstop and
00:35:07.760 spent my life in gyms for a long, long time. And this is not how people dressed. And it was,
00:35:13.580 you know, late 80s into the 2000s when I was doing it. And that's what the age of the neon
00:35:20.520 and the spandex and the thong and like, but you know what? We wore the thongs over black spandex
00:35:28.280 leggings. Sure, there was the occasional person who would wear a thong over like nude tights,
00:35:35.040 but they would be like real tights that were not sheer, you know, that like there was a level of
00:35:40.620 modesty. Now you go to the gym and it's so in your face. It's really, it's like truly,
00:35:45.220 are you looking for a date? Are you looking to be ogled, ogled, ogled, I guess? Or are you
00:35:51.480 looking to work out? Because like, spare it. No one here wants to take a look at your tits and ass
00:35:56.000 while they're trying to get in shape. It's ridiculous. I mean, I think most women have 1.00
00:36:01.940 seen this and recoiled, nevermind the guys who feel like perverts just if their eyes brush by
00:36:07.840 it. You know, it's like they're trying not to look, but it's right in your face. Like, cover up.
00:36:13.100 If you want to be an OnlyFans model, go on OnlyFans and start charging for it.
00:36:19.000 So he made a joke out of it.
00:36:20.800 And you know what?
00:36:21.280 He's lucky that it was a joke.
00:36:23.440 I mean, as you can hear from my own commentary, I'm far less kind about it. 0.99
00:36:28.160 They do look like prostitutes, 100%. 0.99
00:36:30.440 It's a no-brainer. 0.98
00:36:32.220 Why are all these people pretending that they're so offended by what he said when it's true?
00:36:36.040 So here's what he said.
00:36:37.700 I try to go to a public gym. 0.88
00:36:39.240 Going to the public gym is a fat guy, especially in New York. 0.68
00:36:41.380 It's a nightmare, dude. 1.00
00:36:42.160 it's just the hottest gay guys you've ever seen they're jacked and they look at me like yeah right 1.00
00:36:47.420 i know dude also i haven't been to the gym in so long i didn't know women just dress like whores 0.99
00:36:53.760 now look i'm sorry there's no other way to describe i said have you seen it i've seen it 0.93
00:37:00.280 the shorts have you seen the shorts those neon they're like the only they're like artificial
00:37:06.020 bait colored the wrinkles the wrinkles go like around the cheeks and all combine at the butthole
00:37:14.540 and don't look you're not allowed to look for real don't look because they are filming i'm
00:37:21.480 i'm in the background of like 10 tiktoks right now 1.00
00:37:24.280 so to be clear he did not say women are whores he said they dress like whores and he's right 0.98
00:37:40.620 it's fact check true 100 he didn't say all women but it is a lot of women if you go to the gyms 0.99
00:37:48.320 today. And it's just absurd. I think a lot of us are over it. And the way of changing it is by
00:37:55.260 speaking out about it. Well, now that the left is having a meltdown over this as though he pulled
00:38:01.920 some woman's clothes off in a gym and called her a whore. It started with Dan Levy, the guy behind 0.99
00:38:08.320 Schitt's Creek, who somehow appointed himself moral arbiter after working on that show for all
00:38:14.740 these years. Who gives a shit what Dan Levy has to say? But like so many men, usually the ones 0.99
00:38:21.660 who have something to hide or feel guilty about, he decided to be outspoken on this issue. If you
00:38:26.920 look, by the way, at the men who are the most outspoken on the Cornell 8 case, the ones who
00:38:32.720 are so off, it's so disgusting, you know, they need to be charged. They need to be charged
00:38:38.180 immediately. They're criminals. It's guys who have something. They've got something going on
00:38:42.900 in their past that they feel guilty about, they're trying to atone for, they're too scared to be
00:38:47.540 honest about the fact that no crime was committed here. That's separate from condemning the morality
00:38:52.440 of what happened that night, which I've done from the beginning, as you know. But I'm just saying,
00:38:56.440 if you rush to the microphone to go condemn Shane Gillis for his alleged sexism in this comment,
00:39:01.860 you're saying something about yourself. Well, here is guy number one, Dan Levy, with his
00:39:07.940 commentary stop 36 women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make them whores 0.89
00:39:15.340 it makes the men calling them whores misogynists there's a difference there 0.98
00:39:24.120 by the way i've seen more men's nipples at the gym than i've ever seen women 0.99
00:39:31.260 showing their bodies off sure but it's the same thing sure i'm speechless that something like that 0.88
00:39:40.640 can exist on live national television and to be perfectly honest more men need to be standing up
00:39:47.980 in opposition to it because it's complacency that has created the environment with which women are
00:39:55.340 sexually assaulted and it's a conversation as opposed to a crime okay he didn't call anybody 0.99
00:40:05.180 a whore saying someone looks like a whore is not the same thing as saying you're a whore trust me 0.93
00:40:11.520 i've done both and i know what the difference is um you're shocked that this can be on national 0.99
00:40:17.000 tv do you do you watch tv do you just write that one show because this kind of commentary is
00:40:22.260 commonplace on television. It's not particularly provocative even, as you should know. Son of
00:40:29.720 Eugene Levy, right? Your dad is a lot funnier than you are. So this gets a thing going where
00:40:35.540 now everybody's got to speak out about how misogynist Shane Gillis is. And that brings us
00:40:44.460 to here's The View's alleged conservative Sarah Haynes. Well, I typically defend comedy at all
00:40:51.300 costs because I believe there has to be an area where comedians are able to walk right up to that
00:40:56.060 line because some of the best stuff is when people are being super risky and risque. But Dan Levy
00:41:02.800 brought up such a good point. First of all, he is a god. I love him so much. But he's bringing up a
00:41:07.960 great point of when the language like horror is passed along, I might have not noticed it before
00:41:16.140 in the past because it was in under the guise of a joke. And what, as we're talking about this
00:41:21.340 Cornell seven, I'm not saying a joke makes an assault, but it makes it much easier to look at
00:41:26.340 as another human as an object. Okay. The woman involved in the Cornell fake rape case was
00:41:36.100 behaving like a whore. What is it when you decide to have sex on your own with four different men 1.00
00:41:41.480 in a night. That is by anybody's measure behavior that resembles that of a whore. I'm not calling 1.00
00:41:48.180 her a whore, but the behavior is whore-like and it does appear to have been voluntary and to her 0.98
00:41:55.840 liking based on the testimonials that came out that night when she was pulling the last two men 0.99
00:42:00.860 in. She's on record as saying she enjoyed her time with the first two. And according to the second
00:42:04.400 two men, she was pulling them in and offering them sex. And they were both saying, oh, I wasn't
00:42:08.560 expecting this. We don't have to do this. And she was saying we're all consenting adults here
00:42:12.100 and shooing away people who are checking on her to make sure she was OK. And did she want to leave
00:42:18.300 that room? She didn't. She was opening the door. OK, so like, just stop. What happened to Jane
00:42:26.280 Doe at Cornell was not caused by some callous attitude in the society of referring to women 0.98
00:42:33.700 as whores. If anything, it was caused by women like Alex Cooper, who were out there begging them 0.97
00:42:39.620 to be whores and promising that there would be some weird club of women like her who would give 1.00
00:42:46.140 them snaps if they would just give it up. And it would be super cool and they'd feel great about 0.99
00:42:50.820 themselves. She's a disgusting, filthy pig liar. And Jane Doe follows Alex Cooper on social media. 1.00
00:42:57.060 So you query an answer for me. Who's more responsible for what happened in that night?
00:43:02.960 a comedian who makes jokes like that about women dressing provocatively or a woman who actually 0.99
00:43:09.280 repeatedly encouraged group sex with the promise that she'd be proud of you if you would do it.
00:43:16.060 Someone who actually Jane Doe follows on social media. I look forward to you speaking about out
00:43:21.880 about it, Sarah, as the resident conservative on The View. I'll wait. Let's see who gets to it
00:43:28.320 first you or the other idiot masquerading as a conservative on television jenna bush hager 1.00
00:43:34.680 an absolute dolt who uses her stupid platform honestly like everyone knows what she's doing 1.00
00:43:42.580 there she's the ultimate nepo baby she has no independent skills she's not even smart and she 1.00
00:43:47.980 goes out there and says the following sat 39 who is he to comment on women's bodies so that and i 0.99
00:43:54.640 think like we become this culture Shane Gillis among many where online creates I mean he's
00:44:02.760 obviously on Saturday Night Live but this perpetuates what is happening in our culture
00:44:07.920 where people are commenting on women's looks like ad nauseum and it makes it it's almost
00:44:13.220 made it okay yeah and it's not okay it's not okay and and I think like if we want to be
00:44:18.160 good role models for our children like stop talking about the way women look 0.87
00:44:23.180 oh my God, like this is so absurd. 1.00
00:44:26.940 This is giving me like throwback to when I was there.
00:44:33.020 Doesn't NBC own Bravo, right?
00:44:35.980 It certainly did for many, many years.
00:44:38.100 You know what show made Bravo?
00:44:40.100 The Real Housewives, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
00:44:43.080 What do you mean there's an obsessive focus 1.00
00:44:44.360 on women's looks? 1.00
00:44:45.660 Would you look at your own property? 1.00
00:44:46.920 You cash the check every week, sister. 0.84
00:44:49.700 You're living off blood money.
00:44:51.280 If you've got a problem with a company that makes money off of women's looks or that has a commentary on women's looks, that's your daddy.
00:45:01.300 Not her actual daddy.
00:45:02.400 He's a good man. 0.98
00:45:04.880 How ridiculous. 0.98
00:45:06.700 Who is she kidding? 0.98
00:45:08.760 Like, who do you think paid for your apartment in Tribeca?
00:45:12.500 Huh?
00:45:13.140 Who do you think did that?
00:45:15.240 The check cashed and you laughed all the way to the bank.
00:45:18.460 And now you want us to believe that you're very upset about a joke that was told, oh, on your network, by the way, on your network.
00:45:24.680 Did you do something about it?
00:45:26.000 Did you call Lorne Michaels?
00:45:27.800 Did you call the NBC brass and complain?
00:45:29.680 Did you say, I'm not I'm not taking one more dime of this money until you assure me that SNL will come out and apologize for this and will publicly flagellate Shane Gillis?
00:45:41.660 What did you do? 0.76
00:45:42.280 I mean, I'm I'm so glad that you're now on the feminist train and you're going to stand up to anybody making comments about women's looks. 1.00
00:45:51.980 You take that baton, sister. I got a new I got one for you. 1.00
00:45:55.600 Just the very same day you made that comment, which was Tuesday.
00:45:58.660 You know what your friend over on ABC, Jimmy Kimmel, did.
00:46:03.420 He had some thoughts about the new press secretary. And here they are.
00:46:07.000 I want to introduce you to the new kid in Trump land.
00:46:11.060 It was the first day of kindergarten for the new White House press secretary, Katie Zachariah.
00:46:17.280 You know, Trump's been president for quite a long time now.
00:46:20.160 I think it's been about, what, 50, 60 years. 0.98
00:46:22.640 And in order to keep him awake and interested, every six months they bring in a new fawning blonde dolt to add to the rotation. 0.99
00:46:31.420 Things did not get off to a great start for Malibu Katie today. 1.00
00:46:35.120 Her first briefing was brief.
00:46:37.280 It was only 14 minutes long. 1.00
00:46:38.740 But even in that short time, she accomplished exactly what she was brought in to do, which is slobber a whole tube of lip gloss all over the president's behind. 1.00
00:46:49.020 OK, I did she speak out? 1.00
00:46:51.180 That's he's talking about her looks.
00:46:53.400 He's insulting her. 0.79
00:46:55.400 I under the Jenna Bush Hager rule, you're not allowed to do that. 1.00
00:46:59.520 Under the Sarah Haynes rule, you're contributing to rape culture. 1.00
00:47:03.600 So did Jenna that was Tuesday night? 1.00
00:47:05.580 Did Jenna speak out? 1.00
00:47:06.540 She's got a platform five days a week.
00:47:08.220 did she let's check in to see what she did on her show the next day i remember and this is the way
00:47:14.680 i remember it so mom if you disagree we all have our own memories okay i remember there was a
00:47:20.360 burglar is that right big a bag oh it's called big a bag can you get in this can we do it one 0.81
00:47:28.940 two three whoa push it i can't no first of all this is not my butt you get a butt jiggle you 0.99
00:47:38.720 get a butt wiggle i need a little brown this is ridiculous yes it is i was hoping to make 0.90
00:47:43.680 you both laugh and i sort of did that thank you for why does he have hair on his head like that 0.93
00:47:48.840 a butt jiggle toy and a bag that can carry a man i guess we didn't have time to call out
00:48:02.600 the latest man who's making inappropriate comments on a woman's looks jenna just not
00:48:09.760 enough time in the rundown yesterday well today's thursday maybe you'll do it today
00:48:13.000 We'll update tomorrow. Can't wait. This is just all much ado about nothing about nothing. There are some who are speculating this whole bit by Shane Gillis was a setup to promote a new show that he is on that in which he gets caught looking at a girl in short shorts at the gym. It's called tires. It runs on Netflix. We'll see whether, you know, either way.
00:48:34.920 He doesn't need SNL, but this is just an absurd story that has dominated the culture talk for days now, and I'm over it.
00:48:44.480 Here's one more for you.
00:48:46.220 This fitness influencer, Sohi Carpenter, had the following to say in 37 on CBS Mornings.
00:48:55.680 Point of a joke is to be funny.
00:48:56.960 I didn't find anything funny about it.
00:48:58.240 Sohi Carpenter is a fitness coach and content creator. 1.00
00:49:01.760 She worries jokes like the one Gillis made Saturday could discourage some women from working out altogether. 0.97
00:49:07.440 If a woman is already feeling hesitant to go to the gym, that would be a situation in which seeing a joke like this would further discourage her from even stepping through the front doors.
00:49:20.060 Oh, my God.
00:49:23.240 Shane Gillis's joke is going to discourage women from going to the gym. 1.00
00:49:28.280 Not any normal woman. 1.00
00:49:29.860 hopefully it will discourage the women who dress like sluts from wearing those outfits which i i 1.00
00:49:37.420 don't want to see your vag i don't want to see it when you're j-lo at the halftime show during the 1.00
00:49:41.800 super bowl and i don't want to see it on the leg press if i'm at the gym i just want to work out i 1.00
00:49:46.820 want to lift my weights and i want to think about getting fit and staying well and not your tits and 0.99
00:49:51.780 ass period shane gillis did us all a favor he did us an enormous favor grow up and more importantly 0.99
00:49:59.440 cover up. Good gracious. What a dumbass story we've been stuck with.
00:50:07.340 Okay. President Trump on John Husted has made some news. Thought 14. Watch this. 1.00
00:50:14.140 I don't do this with men very often. I started examining his body because I didn't know he was
00:50:19.280 a great athlete. And I looked and I watched up and down. I looked at his ass and I looked at the
00:50:25.480 and then i looked at his hands look at his hands he's got these like claws and i got it you are a 0.99
00:50:34.720 great athlete i didn't know that because he doesn't talk about that congratulations now
00:50:39.620 they finally know that was very good jenna jenna someone's talking about looks can we talk about 1.00
00:50:47.640 men's looks is that is that also a problem is just the women because we're creating rape culture if 1.00
00:50:52.680 say anything about their looks. I mean, walk, walk me through it. Um, you've got to watch this 1.00
00:50:58.220 because one of our favorites online, Bran Hatton, the guy who's always doing Trump commentary 0.59
00:51:02.580 in like a gay mocking way, in a fun way, took on that comment. Here it is. Stop 15. 0.65
00:51:10.060 And I don't do this with men very often. I started examining his body because I didn't
00:51:15.180 know he was a great athlete. And I looked and I watched up and down. I looked at his ass and I
00:51:21.220 looked at the whole, and then I looked at his hands. Look at his hands. He's got these 1.00
00:51:26.460 like claws and I got it. You are a great athlete. I didn't know that because he doesn't talk about
00:51:34.180 that. Congratulations. Now they finally know that was very good. So good. Be right back.

00:52:36.780 Hi, Steve Ballmer here. You know, people disagree about a lot in this country. Taxes,
00:52:42.360 health care, education. But wherever you land politically, I think most of us agree on this.
00:52:48.160 Better information leads to better decisions. That's the mission of USAFacts, to make government

00:53:42.460 Cute, Kevin, but I disagree.

00:54:10.500 I wanted to give you an update on Selma Blair, who was in a skirmish that she created on a 0.85
00:54:17.960 Delta Airlines flight earlier this week, going from LAX to JFK. As we reported, she tried to 0.98
00:54:26.240 open the door to the aircraft while it was mid-flight. Two flight attendants tried to stop 0.82
00:54:31.280 her. She then fought with them. She bit one of them and hit another to the point where the pilot
00:54:38.780 felt they needed medical attention when they got off the flight. Then she, Selma Blair, was placed 0.99
00:54:45.280 in a stretcher because she had managed somehow to injure herself on the flight, hitting her head
00:54:49.980 on a bulkhead. And she managed to get her foot out of a strap on the stretcher and kick a Port
00:54:58.760 authority cop in the face and the jaw and the head, and then injured another person who was 0.85
00:55:07.080 a nurse trying to attend to her. So she's facing a bunch of charges, assault charges at the state
00:55:11.980 level and federal charges, we believe will come to very soon for what she did on board the aircraft.
00:55:18.760 The bail was set at $20,000. I mean, she had to pay, I think it was 60,000. She had to pay 20.
00:55:24.840 That's how bail works to, you know, get out. 0.99
00:55:27.180 And she did pay it.
00:55:28.080 But we, since that happened, have been looking for the full court hearing, which was on CAM.
00:55:35.020 To find out more about what exactly the lawyer argued, we could only find snippets.
00:55:39.740 And we finally managed to get our hands on it.
00:55:41.420 So we wanted to show you what how he explained her behavior.
00:55:46.740 And here it is in SOT 20. 0.73
00:55:49.000 This is Ms. Blair's first brush with the criminal justice system.
00:55:54.800 She's never been arrested.
00:55:56.480 Your Honor, the circumstances alleged in the complaint are the product of a medical emergency, not intentional criminal conduct.
00:56:03.340 She's been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's-ism, conditions that greatly impact the neurological system.
00:56:11.380 Prior to the flight and issue, Ms. Blair missed several doses of Nudexta, a powerful medication that controls severe neurological symptoms.
00:56:24.600 And Ms. Blair boarded this flight after being on set and working extensive hours and exhaustive hours in the days leading up to this flight,
00:56:37.440 where Ms. Blair actually fell and hit her head.
00:56:41.380 These factors, Your Honor, coupled with the altitude, resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation.
00:56:49.540 And the medical causes of this are corroborated by the fact that law enforcement had to transport Ms. Blair to the hospital last night,
00:56:58.980 where she was discharged after approximately seven or eight hours.
00:57:03.120 And just hours later, she had to be transported back to the hospital for administration of additional medication.
00:57:10.980 Ms. Blair did not get on that plane intending for any of this, Your Honor.
00:57:15.520 Again, this was a medical emergency.
00:57:19.580 Okay.
00:57:20.640 Well, Nudextra, the drug that he mentioned there, is a prescription medication used to
00:57:25.840 treat something called pseudobulbar affect, PBA, a neurological condition that causes
00:57:33.400 sudden uncontrollable episodes of crying or laughing that do not necessarily match how
00:57:39.560 a person feels emotionally. It can occur in people with neurological diseases or brain injuries,
00:57:44.780 including MS. Well, she has MS and the lawyer also told the judge she has something called
00:57:49.480 Parkinson's ism, which again, I don't really understand what that is. Is it a different
00:57:55.000 thing than Parkinson's? Um, but some neurological issues. So I don't know the sudden uncontrollable
00:58:01.460 episodes of crying or laughing. We heard that video or that audio of her being taken off the
00:58:06.640 plane screaming, no, no, no. She wasn't necessarily crying or laughing, but maybe it can induce,
00:58:13.000 you know, massive emotional swings like that. We've also now gotten our hands on social media,
00:58:21.180 a social media post from before this whole thing happened. And on her social media,
00:58:28.240 on Instagram, prior to boarding the flight, we now know via the New York Post that she
00:58:32.760 posts, she liked a fan's comment that read, I'm so happy you're feeling great and doing great and
00:58:38.940 making new memories. But she actually posted a response that read, I'm it great. And then added,
00:58:48.280 I'm sad. I'm grateful. I hope I am not great. So she already sounds disjointed before she gets on
00:58:57.280 the aircraft, before any altitude, etc. And it does seem like a neurological event, doesn't it?
00:59:03.060 I mean, it just seems like such a bizarre thing for someone to do. However, there was the prior
00:59:09.960 incident. This was not her first rodeo in the sky back in 2016, as we reported to you. She had to
00:59:16.660 apologize following an incident on board another Delta flight where she allegedly mixed alcohol
00:59:21.440 and medication before she started crying and shouting about being abused on the flight home
00:59:25.940 from Cancun, yelling, he burns my private parts. He won't let me eat or drink. He beats me. He's
00:59:30.960 going to kill me. And she later said she had mixed alcohol with medication, which is what caused her
00:59:37.200 to, quote, black out and to say things I deeply regret. So this is a pattern for her. And therefore,
00:59:44.340 to me, it's a bit of a mystery exactly what went into her behavior. Not taking the meds or taking
00:59:52.720 the meds and mixing them with alcohol are both going to be on her. She's not going to be excused
00:59:58.000 because she made the decision to go off her meds or in the earlier case, to mix them with alcohol. 0.85
01:00:03.220 Like that's still on Selma Blair. It does not vitiate criminal responsibility. Um, this is not 0.94
01:00:09.300 an intent crime. Um, did, did you hit the people or didn't you, you know, you, you assaulted them
01:00:14.480 period. Like they're not going to care that, Oh, I did it. Cause I missed a med dose. I just,
01:00:18.940 I'm not sure what's happening here. Selma Blair, her lawyer, did indeed appear to use her celebrity
01:00:28.500 for a get out of jail free card, some sort of a chit with the judge. And to her credit,
01:00:36.160 the judge was not having it. But here's her lawyer, Joshua Reitzes, in court, SOT 21.
01:00:42.700 I just want to make a record that what she's done for people, what she's done as a human being,
01:00:47.700 should be at least acknowledged counsel thank you for your arguments my ruling still stands
01:00:54.180 i just wanted you to know i didn't ask for special treatment just an acknowledgement at the same
01:00:58.180 time of her action and conduct that has a body i've made my ruling i understand but i asked you
01:01:02.900 for a discretionary ruling not under the statute you could okay my my discretion is used and um
01:01:10.820 it's the implication counsel i'm not going to go through it it's on the record that um you're
01:01:16.260 trying to use her status to have the court in its discretion change the bail.
01:01:23.620 Yes, she was right.
01:01:25.320 He was definitely asking for special treatment for her,
01:01:28.280 talking about what she's done and the acting that she's done,
01:01:32.120 like trying to make her sound like Mother Teresa.
01:01:34.120 It's like what she's done as a human being should at least be acknowledged.
01:01:37.840 I want to make a record of what she's done for people.
01:01:40.900 I mean, and he said, I wanted you to know I didn't ask for special treatment
01:01:45.140 just as an acknowledgement at the same time of her action and conduct that as a body of work. 1.00
01:01:51.480 Okay, no one cares that she acted in what, like legally blonde and therefore she shouldn't be
01:01:56.800 held responsible given her commitment to the law? Like, what are you talking about? And the judge, 0.90
01:02:01.820 to her credit, saw him coming from a mile away and was not going there. So that's what happened
01:02:07.520 with Selma. There's a bit more on her background, which I'm going to hold until tomorrow when our
01:02:12.220 pal Maureen Callahan is here because I want to discuss it with her. So put a pin in that for
01:02:17.200 right now. There is news in the Cornell 8 case in which Governor Hochul, during a debate to save
01:02:24.500 her political career, decided to double down on prejudging the case, setting that this is just
01:02:30.160 like when Joe Biden called Kyle Rittenhouse a white supremacist. You have he was running for
01:02:34.940 president at the time. But you've got somebody who either is the chief executive of a state or
01:02:39.680 a country, in Biden's case, or wants to be. In Hochul's case, currently, it's both. She'd like
01:02:45.260 to keep the job. Prejudging a case and telling the masses from whom the jury pool will be picked 0.99
01:02:51.940 and the ultimate petite jury will be picked, that they're guilty. Just so you know, they're guilty.
01:02:59.680 And here was that moment from the debate the other night in SOT 31.
01:03:03.560 Listen, I'm a mom. I've dropped a daughter off at a college campus.
01:03:08.240 There should not be a culture that allows for a young woman to be so brutally attacked on a fraternity 0.99
01:03:14.880 and then literally have the courage to go ask for help from law enforcement.
01:03:18.640 You know how difficult it is for a victim to have to tell her story to strangers?
01:03:23.460 But she did it, and also the evidence seemed very clear, and I'm not prosecuting this case.
01:03:29.100 It seemed very clear that the boys in the fraternity were trying to cover up what they had done.
01:03:33.160 There were a lot of acknowledgments, a lot of texts that were coming up.
01:03:35.320 So I said this, I want there to be an independent investigation that's underway.
01:03:40.560 But also when it became clear to me that the district attorney had already denied the opportunity to interview this young woman.
01:03:47.640 I come from a family of prosecutors.
01:03:49.580 You should know enough to interview a victim of a crime and not just dismiss it.
01:03:54.000 That's why the law says the governor shall appoint the attorney general in cases of special prosecutions.
01:04:03.720 Thumb on the scale much?
01:04:05.320 Good luck to those young men.
01:04:07.380 You got the governor of the state
01:04:08.360 actively campaigning against you.
01:04:10.560 Think she wants to see an indictment?
01:04:12.260 Think any of the potential jury pool
01:04:13.740 might have heard that? 1.00
01:04:16.160 She's doing everything within her power 1.00
01:04:17.820 to poison the well.
01:04:18.940 And if I were representing one of these guys,
01:04:20.460 I would push for a change of venue
01:04:21.540 right out of New York State.
01:04:23.080 And by the way, now it looks like Jane Doe
01:04:24.920 may have only moved to Manhattan
01:04:26.200 for a very short amount of time.
01:04:27.900 And there is speculation that she did that
01:04:29.640 just so that she could potentially
01:04:31.180 get involved in the New York, 0.97
01:04:32.520 that she could file this civil case 0.94
01:04:33.860 in the New York Supreme Court,
01:04:37.420 which she, her lawyer, 0.94
01:04:39.000 who, in my opinion, is a grifter,
01:04:41.420 thought he'd do better in front of a jury
01:04:44.360 in New York State Supreme. 0.98
01:04:46.800 And she apparently only lived there for a short time 1.00
01:04:48.960 and then went back to her home state down south.
01:04:50.800 So, you know, query what funny business is going on there
01:04:54.980 as they have a massive money grab at hand here.
01:04:58.380 And now, of course, it's being used for political reasons.
01:05:00.760 The people on the Cornell campus, 0.92
01:05:02.580 the activist class remains absolutely freaking nuts. 0.79
01:05:06.540 There was some sort of a protest there the other day 0.96
01:05:10.040 on Tuesday of this week.
01:05:11.160 Would you take a look at what's happening there?
01:05:12.700 SOT 27.
01:05:26.280 They're just screaming.
01:05:27.860 They're holding up signs.
01:05:32.580 oh wait what
01:05:39.080 oh so it's just the primal screams while holding up placards with the seven men's name on them 0.99
01:05:49.880 and then fuck Donald Trump okay because why not just like uh the comments you know that 0.99
01:05:58.960 Shane Gillis made or somehow linked to Cornell. And now the Cornell situation is linked to Donald 1.00
01:06:05.100 Trump. We've heard that from quite a few. And why not? Because they were stealing their act
01:06:10.120 from this woman who was famously featured as screaming her guts out back in 2017
01:06:16.420 when Trump became president. Here it is. It's about 28.
01:06:21.820 Donald J. Trump is now president of the United States.
01:06:28.960 to be able to introduce for the first time ever anywhere the 45th president of the united states 0.85
01:06:38.720 of america why are women so emotionally unregulated truly like none of the women i know is like this
01:06:47.780 they're all like badass smart together emotionally controlled people like why is everyone featured on 1.00
01:06:55.700 TV and in the news completely unmoored. It's embarrassing. Get it together, people.
01:07:02.400 And stop. I'm just so sick and tired of pretending that women don't have equal power in society, 1.00
01:07:07.660 that they don't have the power to stand up for or defend themselves or to get up out of a Cornell 0.77
01:07:13.840 room and walk back to Tridelt. Guess what? She had that power. She didn't want to exercise it.
01:07:21.580 she was enjoying her evening. Okay. So in any event, as I said, that case is done.
01:07:27.200 Our bodies, our choice, it's done. Okay. I'm going to wait on the other stuff. We can talk
01:07:33.100 about Kelly Clarkson and that amazing video with Maureen tomorrow, but I would love to get to my
01:07:37.700 next guest on the Tom Brady book that takes a deep dive into the relationship with his now ex-wife
01:07:44.100 Giselle. And Lars Anderson has a lot of tea to spill. He'll do that next. Stand by.

01:09:14.620 of all time, and arguably the greatest football player. At least that's what they tell me. Tom
01:09:19.340 Brady. From a sixth-round draft pick to a seven-time Super Bowl champion, Brady's journey
01:09:25.300 is a story of his relentless drive to be the best. But what did he have to sacrifice to do it?
01:09:31.880 In his new book, Brady, An American Story and the Price of Greatness, author Lars Anderson draws on
01:09:38.940 more than 350 interviews to build a portrait of the man behind the legend and the personal
01:09:44.540 sacrifices that shaped one of the most extraordinary careers in sports history. Lars Anderson joins me
01:09:51.160 now. Lars, great to have you. Thank you so much for being here. Megan, so wonderful to be with
01:09:55.600 you. Thank you for having me on. Oh, what a book. I mean, I will save the sports discussion for
01:10:03.660 someone else to do, someone who knows what they're talking about. But I accept that he is the goat of 0.89
01:10:09.540 football and possibly, you know, at least one of the top five candidates for the GOAT of sports.
01:10:16.060 The problem is it did come at an enormous cost. And that cost was the woman he loved and being
01:10:23.060 the kind of father he had in his own life. And according to your book, he knew it. He knew he
01:10:31.000 was making these sacrifices and just was not built to be the kind of dad his dad was to him.
01:10:38.620 football has been his greatest love. So take us back to when he met Giselle, because you point
01:10:45.200 out in 2006, he was set up on a blind date with her. And at the time she was way cooler than he
01:10:52.000 was. Yeah, absolutely. Um, at the time, you know, she was the highest paid supermodel on the planet
01:11:00.520 in history. She had been on over 1,200 magazine covers. So by many metrics, you could argue that 1.00
01:11:10.580 she's the most beautiful woman to ever walk the face of the planet. And I opened the book with
01:11:18.100 the scene of Tom walking through the cobblestone streets of the West Village of Manhattan to
01:11:25.980 a wine bar called Turks and Frogs and that is where he is going to meet this woman named Giselle
01:11:34.620 and I wanted to lead the book with this particular scene because I was sort of asking myself
01:11:45.300 what's the moment of greatest tension in Tom's life away from the game meaning what are what
01:11:55.280 is a situation that creates all of these questions that are unanswered, right? And it keeps the reader
01:12:01.940 like this moving through the book because you want to have these questions resolved. You want
01:12:07.800 to have the tension resolved. And it seemed to me that this would be the appropriate place to begin
01:12:13.500 it. But then, of course, you need to end it, right? And I think the most powerful scene of the entire
01:12:21.840 book is uh tom's final year uh tampa loses a game it was a night game and afterward tom is sitting
01:12:33.700 in front of his locker in full uniform uh head down for 15 20 minutes like in a near catatonic
01:12:43.660 state and people are coming up to him players friends coaches like tom tom like what
01:12:51.620 Tom, what's going on? What's going on? And this is a picture of an utterly broken man. And look,
01:13:00.420 Megan, I've been through a divorce with small kids. I know the abject profound pain. I lost
01:13:08.500 my dad many, many years ago and rest in peace, dad. But going through that divorce was far more
01:13:17.280 difficult and painful because of the my three young children involved. Right. So I've been
01:13:25.460 there. I know exactly what Tom was experiencing. And at that moment in the locker room, never had
01:13:37.100 Tom Brady looked less like Tom effing Brady than right then, because it is a picture of a broken
01:13:47.180 man. And to me, that is the price that he paid, the heavy tax that came along with becoming
01:13:56.800 the winningest player in NFL history. And it's so remarkable. The whole story is remarkable,
01:14:04.760 given where he came from. You know, he couldn't even crack the starting lineup on his freshman
01:14:14.000 high school team because he was just not very good back then, but this freshman high school team
01:14:22.560 ends up going 0-8. I think they scored maybe one touchdown. And so he goes from that point
01:14:30.460 to the winningest player in NFL history. And, you know, there was a lot that he had to give up
01:14:39.860 to become that version of Tom Brady.
01:14:45.120 Everything.
01:14:46.300 I mean, that's, to me, this reads like a tragedy
01:14:48.960 because you can't, I don't know,
01:14:52.420 I don't think you can grow old
01:14:54.780 with your football comforting you at night.
01:14:59.360 I think, you know, he did,
01:15:01.760 the way this reads to me is he did love Giselle,
01:15:04.960 but he loved something more.
01:15:07.400 You know, this football career, the game of football,
01:15:09.860 everything that it brought to him, he just loved it more.
01:15:13.060 And in the end, it was really only about those final couple of years.
01:15:16.760 Like if he could have just thrown in the towel two years prior to when he did,
01:15:23.060 he might have been able to save his marriage and his family,
01:15:26.800 but he couldn't do it, Lars.
01:15:29.280 He wouldn't do it.
01:15:30.760 This raises a question that all of us who love sports,
01:15:36.440 who have played sports, have to grapple with.
01:15:39.860 Because it ends for everybody.
01:15:43.080 It ends for some people in junior high, other people in high school, other people for like
01:15:49.320 me, Division III soccer, and for others in professional sports.
01:15:56.900 It is so hard to let go because your whole identity, especially when you get to Tom's
01:16:04.160 level is wrapped around your achievements on the field. And it's almost like the circadian rhythm
01:16:13.360 of his life was tethered to the seasons of football and everything, his whole life revolved
01:16:24.780 around it. And there are scenes from the book when Giselle is talking about, hey, it's New Year's
01:16:34.860 Eve, and let's make a fire tonight. It's a full moon. It's beautiful. And let's write down a list
01:16:44.000 of things that we want to let go of from the previous season. And she is sort of waxing poetic
01:16:51.100 about this and in the middle of it you know they're driving away from Gillette Stadium
01:16:56.960 and Tom's behind the wheel and in the middle of this Tom just says aloud I think our game starts
01:17:04.500 at one o'clock next week oh boy oh boy and this is Giselle that would drive any woman crazy but
01:17:14.560 when you're Giselle and you could have virtually any man on earth who would pay you endless amounts
01:17:20.800 of attention, it seems like it was very frustrating. And, you know, I've reported to the audience
01:17:25.600 myself because I know a fair amount about these two from various connections and so on, that I
01:17:31.140 know for a fact she was very unhappy about the fact that Tom didn't want to spend all the nights
01:17:42.180 at home with her and the kids, that he was either focused on football during the season, but also
01:17:47.400 did like to party during the off season and go out and sort of sow some oats. And she was
01:17:53.840 frustrated. She's more of a traditional Brazilian woman who wanted a husband who was there, who was 0.84
01:17:59.420 fathering the children. And he just, you know, like we said, he loved something more. But I did
01:18:06.780 think it was interesting in the book how you point out, like, because you kind of forget,
01:18:10.700 you just think of them as a power couple and then it didn't work out. But like she added a lot to
01:18:16.220 his life. In the same way that Taylor made Travis Kelsey a lot cooler and a lot more famous,
01:18:22.760 Giselle did that to Tom and improved his diet, his image, his dress, all of it. That image-making
01:18:29.200 machine that she dominated as the most powerful supermodel in the world, she used that knowledge
01:18:36.340 to help him. Absolutely. And it really, this ignites when Tom tears up his knee in the first
01:18:45.380 game of gosh I don't remember I think maybe the 2010 season it's before they're married and Tom
01:18:52.740 decides to get the surgery and rehab out in Los Angeles and you know Giselle on a previous I think
01:19:01.440 as a photo shoot had met this chef who delivered meals and and and and you know really healthy 0.72
01:19:09.220 stuff. And, and that's when Tom's diet started to change. And Tom had done some yoga before,
01:19:17.360 but Giselle really took that to another level. And obviously the, the wardrobe, the hair, 0.81
01:19:26.120 you know, it, it, it gets to the point in, that's a good picture there.
01:19:33.900 We're showing the picture of him in all leather at the fashion show, which does remind me to ask you about the fact that people thought Tom might be gay.
01:19:41.880 Okay, I've never seen that picture before.
01:19:47.180 Pretty dramatic.
01:19:48.400 um you know she changes his life in so many ways and uh eventually you know he he's the only
01:20:00.300 the throne of power in the nfl for a long time was tom brady's locker right and he was the only
01:20:08.480 one in the patriot locker room who had a uh hair dryer and i i write about how uh you know it is
01:20:16.960 It was like a Neiman Marcus counter in there, just in terms of everything that he had.
01:20:24.600 And I love Julian Edelman when he first walks into the locker room saying or reflecting upon it.
01:20:32.040 It says, Tom Brady smells like how a beautiful man would smell like.
01:20:37.800 And, you know, like he liked his cocoa butter.
01:20:42.180 And like he just, it was, and this all goes back to a guy who, you know, he, when he was at Michigan, he struggled in the fine art of seduction and had trouble in the, in the, in the, in the dating department.
01:21:02.060 And why, why do you, you write this for a brief period, a few of Brady's teammates wondered about his sexuality.
01:21:08.580 He was rarely seen with a girl.
01:21:10.060 He chose the stadium lights over candlelight when Friday nights rolled around.
01:21:15.280 So was because I have to tell you, I think Tom Brady's had a fair amount of work done, like cosmetic work.
01:21:23.240 And he, to me, appears to be feminizing himself.
01:21:26.800 Like the decisions he's made have made him look more and more feminine than he did 10, 15 years ago, which has had some people wondering whether he's gay or something along those lines.
01:21:37.700 But you report that he's not gay.
01:21:41.520 Yeah, this is real investigative journalism here, Megan, and boots on the ground reporting.
01:21:49.440 No, I just talked to a guy who lived on Tom's freshman floor at Michigan in the dorm.
01:21:57.520 and, you know, there were questions kind of swirling around about this California kid
01:22:05.180 who had arrived in Ann Arbor without a winter coat and had long hair and, you know, it was
01:22:15.280 just like different, right?
01:22:17.600 There's not a lot of California kids coming to Ann Arbor.
01:22:21.160 And so there was some speculation about his sexuality, and this student came forward and gave me the information that he can definitively say that the noises being produced in that room were the squeals of ecstasy.
01:22:49.160 from a woman not a man okay so yes it does seem that feminizing though he may be uh he is he is
01:23:02.240 a straight man and the only reason like megan i swear i don't i don't roll around in the tabloid
01:23:12.820 gutter. I really didn't want to do that. But I think it is incumbent upon the biographer to
01:23:20.840 address questions that readers may have. Right. And certainly that is one of them. And that is
01:23:28.900 one of them. And that's why I thought it was relevant. Otherwise, I never would have put that
01:23:33.480 in there. We're speaking with Lars Anderson. The name of his book is Brady, An American Story and
01:23:40.380 the Price of Greatness available now. So you also report in the book that some around them,
01:23:49.740 especially in Giselle's friend group, had questions early on about whether these two
01:23:55.520 were compatible. Why? I think it goes back to what did they really have in common other than
01:24:04.840 And the fact that they were famous, you know, Giselle speaks six languages, traveled the world over, conquered the fashion world, which is incredibly what Giselle has accomplished.
01:24:22.360 Megan, I would argue, is actually more improbable than what Tom has accomplished.
01:24:28.300 And I think what is driving this, the news of this book all around the world is not Tom, it's Giselle, 100%. It's Giselle. It's why, you know, this has become a story in India, where I think she's more popular than Gandhi, right?
01:24:51.980 It's a huge story in Brazil, where she's from. It's a story in Germany. Many people in Germany
01:24:59.280 have offered to translate the book for free because they want people to read it. And again,
01:25:05.020 I don't think it's so much about Thomas. It's Giselle. And I didn't know what a force of nature
01:25:12.880 in the fashion industry she was until I actually did some research and really got to know what her
01:25:23.860 story is coming from a small village in Brazil and riding a bus 26 hours with other aspiring
01:25:34.580 models. And then she gets just picked out and they're all in sort of, uh, uh, like school
01:25:42.080 uniforms. And it was the first time she ever went to a McDonald's in her life. And there just happened
01:25:47.860 to be like a fashion talent scout there. And he picked her out and everything just took off from
01:25:55.420 there and uh and and you know she is so smart and she's so smart and uh she i think it's just
01:26:07.540 it's it's different when you are married to a woman who is so international and so sophisticated
01:26:16.740 And, you know, the two things that I question about Tom is, you know, he didn't learn Portuguese, her native tongue.
01:26:29.120 And I understand Portuguese is a hard language to learn.
01:26:32.380 It really is.
01:26:33.780 I speak a little bit of Spanish, un poco. 0.91
01:26:37.260 But, man, it's a lot different than Portuguese.
01:26:40.200 and and um you know uh in and i was at the 2016 rio olympics and when giselle walked out uh for
01:26:53.560 the opening ceremonies and this was way before i ever thought i would write anything on tom brady
01:26:59.560 like this was not on my radar this was not like a lifelong goal or anything but i remember being in
01:27:05.960 in Rio. And when she walked out, like grown men and women started crying at the sight of her,
01:27:14.700 like reacting in a way that, that Americans don't react to our celebrities, because they are so
01:27:21.820 proud of what she has gone out in the world and accomplished. And yet Tom couldn't take the time
01:27:30.800 to leave training camp for three days to go be there?
01:27:36.620 I mean, what sacrifices did Tom make for Giselle?
01:27:41.700 Right.
01:27:42.480 That's the question.
01:27:43.600 That's a great question.
01:27:44.840 And I thought I was, it's a scoop in here that,
01:27:47.760 because they started dating in 2006,
01:27:49.300 they got divorced in 2022, right?
01:27:52.300 But you report that as early as 2014, 2015,
01:27:57.460 she was thinking about a divorce.
01:27:59.100 Yeah. 0.99
01:27:59.260 she was already getting fed up she had yeah she had consulted a uh a divorced lawyer and
01:28:06.820 you know uh when you you fast forward to when tom retired for the first time for 40 days um
01:28:17.680 I think that was in, what, 2021, and he then un-retires,
01:28:28.360 and then Giselle is never seen at another Bucs home game in Tom's box
01:28:34.800 or at an away game.
01:28:39.580 And, you know, it's, I think, I think she was him.
01:28:47.260 For me, that's just, it's so tragic because he had from, you know, if your spouse is consulting
01:28:51.940 a divorce lawyer back in 2014 or 15, you know, that's, there's a fire. There's the fire that
01:28:58.680 needs to be put out, you know, and like it's all hands on deck. You have two kids. He's got a third
01:29:02.840 child, a son with actress Bridget Moynihan, who we knew, and you also confirm in the book,
01:29:08.820 Giselle was very good too, and treated just like a child of her own when they were all together.
01:29:13.380 but he didn't, he did not tend to the home business even, even then. And then, and then
01:29:19.760 you report that after that comes the 2017 Superbowl and she thought that would be the perfect
01:29:25.920 time for him to retire. She thought this is it. You know, he knows I want him to retire.
01:29:30.040 He's won the Superbowl again. Like this is it. And tell us what happened.
01:29:35.440 Yeah, I mean, look, when someone just wins a Super Bowl and five minutes after you're asking, hey, isn't this the perfect time to walk away?
01:29:49.580 Probably not the greatest time to be asking that question because he is at the height of his powers.
01:29:58.300 and for an athlete it is so difficult to walk away when you know that you can still do it at a really
01:30:07.600 high level and you know he ends up saying too bad babe i'm having too much fun and that was sort of
01:30:17.100 the one of the first things that like like he'd already she'd already consulted a divorce attorney
01:30:23.700 yes but that was particularly stinging he had or she had she had excuse me she had
01:30:31.020 right that's what we were just discussing correct she had consulted one and and but during that
01:30:38.560 when tom retired and then unretired i think that she was not just angry i think she was humiliated
01:30:48.920 humiliated. And that's why you didn't see her again. And ultimately, she just had enough
01:30:56.200 because she wants to live life with a partner who is experiencing everything with her, you know,
01:31:05.080 and being just actively involved in the kids' lives. And look, Tom is a very self-aware person.
01:31:14.480 And from what I gather, you know Tom and Giselle a little bit, and he knew what was going on for the most part.
01:31:25.640 But the people who I talk to, the people who I trust the most, they swear to me that Tom was absolutely blindsided by Giselle saying, I can't do this anymore.
01:31:38.900 Hmm. I mean, it sounds like he was distracted, you know, that he was he was focused on something else.
01:31:47.320 And I'm sure he suffered from something that she probably suffered from, which is no one's leaving me.
01:31:53.640 I'm Tom Brady and I'm Giselle.
01:31:56.780 Like, I'm sure they were both so flabbergasted that they couldn't get the other one to do what they wanted them to do,
01:32:02.780 because this wouldn't have been their normal experience growing up.
01:32:05.640 certainly not looking like Giselle does or having the talent that Tom Brady has.
01:32:10.380 And he learned the hard way.
01:32:12.340 She was willing to walk away and she did have other options.
01:32:15.860 And she found another man pretty quickly, which we'll get to in one second.
01:32:19.540 But you reported that in 2018, so he wouldn't retire and that he had told her early on he'd
01:32:26.560 play for 10 years and then retire.
01:32:28.120 And now we're past that, but he's not giving it up.
01:32:31.340 And she's frustrated.
01:32:32.360 She's got two young kids she wants to raise.
01:32:34.700 And by the way, I do find it very interesting that her bet was correct.
01:32:38.360 Even when he did retire, he didn't retire.
01:32:41.020 He stayed in football.
01:32:42.040 He's still on the road all the time.
01:32:43.920 Like her bet that he's never going to give this up.
01:32:47.480 There's not, it's not almost over.
01:32:49.060 And then he's going to come back to me.
01:32:50.540 No, he's going to take a $400 million deal with Fox and he's going to travel the world
01:32:54.640 now talking about football.
01:32:56.060 But in any event, in 2018, she hand wrote him a letter and you've got the intimate details
01:33:02.200 of the letter.
01:33:03.180 what, what happened to it, where it wound up, what it, what, what was in it. So tell us about
01:33:08.460 that letter. Yeah. Uh, it's a very heartfelt handwritten letter. And as, as a writer myself,
01:33:15.600 I love handwritten letters. Um, but she just laid out that, Hey, this isn't working for me.
01:33:22.960 Um, we need to really, uh, address things in, in, in a deep way. There needs to be more,
01:33:32.420 sharing of responsibilities. I mean, even, you know, celebrities like Tom and Giselle,
01:33:40.620 somebody's got to take the garbage out, right? Somebody's got to do the dishes.
01:33:44.900 Somebody's got to feed the kids. Somebody's got to put the kids to bed. Sure, they have an army
01:33:50.100 of staff to support them. But you know what? It's mom and dad that matter. It's mom and dad that
01:33:57.160 matter and the thing about tom nothing can make him more emotional when you ask him to compare
01:34:06.300 himself to his own dad because again tom's a self-aware he's a self-aware dude and he knew
01:34:13.720 that he was nowhere near the uh present father that his own dad was and that again will get the
01:34:25.000 tears falling faster than anything for Tom. But there's this other overwhelming desire
01:34:32.980 that consumed it, subsumed it. And that was to be the best he can possibly be at his chosen
01:34:41.520 profession. And Megan, it raises an interesting question for someone like yourself. What have
01:34:50.120 you been willing to sacrifice in your life to get to where you are, right? I'm sure you've had to
01:34:57.300 make many difficult decisions over the years because you don't snap your fingers and just
01:35:02.880 become Megyn Kelly, right? You have to work your ass off for it. And that requires time, effort,
01:35:11.400 and just an intense amount of ambition, right, which we both have.
01:35:19.000 And I think that's what kind of makes this story.
01:35:21.660 It doesn't seem like it's a universal story because we are talking about two people
01:35:27.940 who are almost viewed as like royalty in the United States.
01:35:32.880 But yet there are these fundamental questions that we all can ask ourselves
01:35:37.460 that both Giselle and Tom had to grapple with?
01:35:42.760 I think about it because, sure,
01:35:45.120 I definitely made some sacrifices along the way,
01:35:48.100 but the reason I left Fox News,
01:35:51.160 the principal reason I left Fox News
01:35:53.000 was because I was missing too much of my kids' childhood.
01:35:57.680 And they were young.
01:35:58.640 They were seven, five, and three,
01:36:00.220 and I hadn't missed the whole thing,
01:36:01.840 and I didn't want to miss the whole thing.
01:36:04.320 And so I went a different way than Tom Brady.
01:36:07.140 I actually had, you know, I was at the top of my profession.
01:36:10.120 I was definitely at the top of the news industry
01:36:12.180 and I was making a lot of money.
01:36:13.720 And I had a similar choice in front of me.
01:36:15.720 I wasn't being presented with a, you know,
01:36:17.740 stay with me or give it up ultimatum by my husband.
01:36:22.300 But I did have a choice of whether I should stay
01:36:25.320 at the top of this industry or take a step down,
01:36:28.820 which I knew NBC mornings would be.
01:36:30.660 Was that a difficult choice?
01:36:32.080 Very difficult.
01:36:33.160 Very difficult because I loved my job
01:36:35.420 and I thought I was great at it.
01:36:37.140 And I was making tons of money and I was at the apex of my career, but it wasn't worth it.
01:36:43.480 And I just, I knew missing so much of my kid's childhood, I genuinely thought was giving me
01:36:49.860 cancer. Like I thought if I continue to miss this and have this level of heartache over missing it
01:36:54.940 for another three, four years, I'm going to get cancer. That's really truly what I've believed.
01:37:00.560 I'm like, there's no amount of money that's worth this. There's no amount of whatever fame,
01:37:04.380 accolades, it doesn't matter to me. The calling card of those three kids is too irresistible
01:37:12.440 to put down for another three years. So I did leave and there's been no regrets. I didn't go
01:37:18.220 to the right place, but I wound up figuring it out. And I think Tom, you know, if he had left
01:37:24.020 without those last two years, I think he probably could have saved his family. Maybe. I don't know.
01:37:29.740 Maybe not. Maybe I'm arguing against the case I just made because what did he do? He just signed
01:37:33.200 up to go work for Fox, travel the world, following the football teams every Sunday and Monday and
01:37:38.920 Thursday. He's still out there doing it. But I guess you just have to love somebody else more
01:37:45.820 than you love yourself and your enjoyment of your chosen career. And the truth is, he didn't.
01:37:52.400 You know, when I covered the Rio Olympics, right, 2016, when I got back from that, that is when I
01:38:00.420 quit doing uh like magazine work altogether because i was away from my children who were
01:38:09.600 very young unfortunately for me it's not a great ending uh we ended up getting a divorce
01:38:17.140 but this is an important point i think um every writer brings their own experiences and perspective
01:38:27.940 to every piece they write even narrative non-fiction and so when I was writing about
01:38:36.060 Tom at the very end there and about how he had just been absolutely reduced to a broken man
01:38:47.220 like never less looked less like Tom F.M. Brady in his life than after one particular game where
01:38:54.800 just sits in front of his locker for 15 minutes and is in a near catatonic state and every every
01:39:04.100 guy in the locker room is coming up to tom like hey man it's okay it's okay it's just a game but
01:39:09.140 they didn't realize that the next morning the divorce was going to be announced but at that
01:39:14.640 moment of just being reduced and i i think i wrote it as like a man of like bone and sorrow
01:39:23.660 Tom Brady right the great Tom Brady is reduced to that and to me that sort of goes full circle
01:39:33.900 back to really what the price of greatness was for Tom and the decisions he made and you know
01:39:43.400 when I talked to guys like Bruce Arians who was the the head coach of the of the Buccaneers and
01:39:49.360 that final year, he was just a consultant, but he was around. And Bruce doesn't even like to
01:39:55.780 remember those conversations he had with Tom and how Tom looked and just the profound sadness in
01:40:05.380 his comportment. And just, you know, he just wasn't the same. It's got to be sickening.
01:40:12.280 It's got to be sickening because it doesn't sound like he fell out of love with her. It's,
01:40:17.600 you know, you write that she got to the point where she just one day wasn't willing to keep
01:40:23.260 working. Like she just realized, and she, she said to him, we're not compatible. And that was it.
01:40:29.820 He lost what I think was the love of his life short of one thing, which was football. And,
01:40:37.100 and he knew when they were breaking up that soon she'd probably be in the arms of another man.
01:40:42.340 I don't think he knew she would be impregnated by him and have another baby with him,
01:40:47.140 But this is when he posted this Instagram post when she got pregnant with her new boyfriend's baby and that said, true love of him.
01:41:00.800 It's so fascinating how celebrities communicate over social media through these cryptic messages, right?
01:41:11.500 That one wasn't too cryptic.
01:41:13.640 Well, yeah, if you study them the way I have and others, you know, Giselle consistently said, hey, I'm not your true love.
01:41:24.240 True love is football for you.
01:41:26.640 And so, you know, when she marries her, I don't know.
01:41:34.500 Jiu-jitsu instructor.
01:41:35.380 Jiu-jitsu instructor.
01:41:36.520 Yes, thank you.
01:41:38.280 You know, Tom puts that post up of him.
01:41:42.180 If you just look at that picture, it's absolutely flawless technique and, you know, the beautiful California sun going down in the back room, in the background.
01:41:55.240 And, yeah, that was a direct shot at Giselle, no question.
01:42:02.260 100%.
01:42:02.820 All right, there's more because Lars has got thoughts on the one big mistake Tom Brady made in the wake of the breakup.

01:45:00.340 time on what happened when she finally said, we are not compatible. It was over. There was no
01:45:07.540 salvaging it after that. And surely thereafter, she was romantically linked to the man who is now
01:45:15.500 her husband, Joaquin Valente, who was her jujitsu instructor. And that had a lot of people asking
01:45:23.820 whether that relationship began prior to the end of her marriage with Tom, and frankly, whether
01:45:32.080 Tom had any relationships during the course of their marriage. What can you report on that?
01:45:38.080 Oh, Megan, you're putting me on the spot here, aren't you? No wonder you've gotten where you are.
01:45:45.500 Let's see. So I always follow the reporting, right? And there was no reporting to suggest to me that Tom was having anything going on outside of the marriage.
01:46:04.760 um and i i know others have suggested that and my my uh question to them would be who's your source
01:46:15.720 and if you're not willing to name the source then it's sort of worthless to me uh for fear of
01:46:23.160 lawsuit right uh because that's the one thing that a celebrity can get you on
01:46:27.740 is uh is are these making these claims right that just are factually not supported um
01:46:37.680 now i did have someone who i really trusted who um suggested very strongly that uh there was a
01:46:49.220 spiritual advisor to giselle who was sort of whispering into tom's ear or excuse me giselle's
01:46:57.120 year, that she may not be compatible with Tom. And, you know, Giselle, and this person suggested
01:47:07.400 too, that Giselle is very much into astrology. And so, I just, you know, took it on my own
01:47:14.100 volition, looked up what the astrological chart would have said that month. And if I remember
01:47:22.340 correctly. It was that her sign and Tom's sign were absolutely not compatible for that particular
01:47:33.700 time. And look, the whole paragraph, I think, was written in parentheses because I don't know
01:47:44.680 what to make of this, but I can tell you that this is the most unimpeachable source in the entire
01:47:50.080 book. In fact, this person said that they would put their name behind this. But sometimes,
01:47:57.620 and you can criticize me if you want, but sometimes as a writer, you kind of have to
01:48:06.500 protect sources from themselves. And I didn't want this person to be subjected to what I knew
01:48:14.860 would happen if uh if if they were the person who told you about the cosmic advisor exactly yes
01:48:21.500 here's i have the paragraph in front of me this is what you wrote um
01:48:26.440 for the cosmic record you're right giselle's star sign is cancer brady's is leo in august 2022 the
01:48:35.840 month brady left training camp the cancer zodiac chart showcased venus sitting across the sky from
01:48:41.860 Pluto, according to the Cancer Horoscope and Cosmopolitan, a magazine whose cover Giselle
01:48:46.540 has graced multiple times, this signaled a call to action, quote, honest, raw conversations will
01:48:52.400 be necessary as power struggles and hidden agendas are exposed. This is your opportunity
01:48:58.040 to transform the dynamics in your closest ties. And indeed, the dynamics were changed as she
01:49:07.580 decided finally were just not, were not compatible. And it was not that long after that, that she
01:49:15.340 was with the jujitsu instructor romantically. And very shortly thereafter, they, she got pregnant
01:49:24.960 by him and had his baby and then ultimately married him. I think in that order, I don't
01:49:30.380 think it went marriage and then baby, but whatever with these celebrities, they always do it
01:49:34.960 differently. So I did think of Tom Brady when this happened, though, because we're showing some
01:49:41.640 of the pictures of her and Joaquin on the beach. They're constantly in Costa Rica with this
01:49:45.600 beautiful baby boy they had together. And they look so happy. He's a good looking guy. It's like
01:49:53.500 both of these two are just doomed to a lifetime of finding partners that in some ways are never
01:50:00.060 going to measure up to the spouse that they used to have, just given the electricity of
01:50:04.660 the personality and the looks and the success of the two in the Giselle-Tom marriage.
01:50:11.400 But people loved this. They loved watching Giselle on the beach with another man because they,
01:50:17.260 let's face it, Tom Brady is loathed by a lot of people. Number one, because not everybody likes
01:50:22.520 the Patriots and that's what he's associated with most. Number two, because he has it all.
01:50:26.640 A lot of people will just resent that, period, just for that reason alone.
01:50:30.540 So they enjoyed, I think, watching Giselle frolic on the beach with another man and have
01:50:34.620 his baby.
01:50:35.880 And then came the decision, you say, was truly Tom Brady's biggest mistake.
01:50:43.160 Tell us what that was.
01:50:45.160 Yeah, I think Tom, after retirement, and this is important too, Tom would not have retired
01:50:55.660 if Giselle hadn't divorced him.
01:50:58.740 I'm convinced of that.
01:51:00.440 Heard from many people
01:51:01.860 because the reason Tom retired
01:51:04.960 was because of the shifting plate tectonics
01:51:09.640 of his personal life.
01:51:11.500 He didn't know what he was going to look like with custody
01:51:15.420 and he knew he needed to be there
01:51:18.880 as much as he possibly could for his kids.
01:51:24.240 so he ended up walking away and oh there are so many what-ifs from the Buccaneers staff because
01:51:32.300 you know in his last year in the league I believe Tom led the NFL in passing yards he was still
01:51:38.600 playing at a really high level and they thought that he could have gotten number eight so anyway
01:51:45.280 He ends up, you know, retiring and then decides to have this Netflix roast.
01:51:53.780 So as we all know, it turned in just to an epic disaster.
01:52:01.220 And so you can look at this sort of, I think, one or two, one of two ways.
01:52:07.760 either tom was naive to what was going to transpire during that roast however uh tom is
01:52:20.040 one of the smartest people i've ever studied in my life or you could say that um he was letting
01:52:28.860 others do his dirty work which i think probably because giselle giselle got destroyed of
01:52:37.380 Giselle got destroyed we have some of that in ours we we put together just a bit of a sound
01:52:42.400 but let's play it for the audience then you can take it on the back end Giselle said you retire
01:52:46.940 or we're done when you got a chance to go eight and nine and all it will cost you is your wife
01:52:52.500 and your kids you gotta do what the f*** you gotta do do you understand me a man who has so
01:52:59.380 many rings he could melt them down and forge a sword to go on a quest to get Giselle back from 0.91
01:53:05.120 that jujitsu teacher tom brady five times super bowl mvp most career wins most career touchdowns
01:53:12.140 you have seven rings well eight now that giselle gave hers back but 0.97
01:53:15.700 sorry tom tom the only thing dumber than you saying yes to this roast was when you said 0.99
01:53:25.300 hey babe you should try jujitsu i think that was that's gotta suck dude 0.98
01:53:32.800 so he's laughing but there was real fallout i i i can't it is so out of character of him 0.77
01:53:42.560 yes massive fallout massive fallout the next morning his children call him and say dad
01:53:53.380 why did you let all of these people on national television say such mean things about mom
01:54:05.300 tough question to answer tough question to answer and i think he was blinded by anger
01:54:14.680 and just did not make a good decision and he has subsequently called it you know
01:54:21.460 the worst decision or one of the worst decisions of his life because he he just didn't think about
01:54:30.240 the consequences of all this on his kids and that's rare for him i mean i i truly believe
01:54:35.880 he's a good father and he has tried his best under the circumstances i do too and and i do
01:54:42.700 i've seen him quite a bit with his kids and he seems very loving and protective and engaged
01:54:48.100 Is this an East Hamptons thing? Is that where you saw it, Tom? I'm curious.
01:54:52.660 No, no, no. Shall remain unnamed.
01:54:55.640 Oh, come on, Megan.
01:54:56.660 But I've seen him quite a bit with them.
01:54:59.740 All I can say is he's definitely a loving father.
01:55:01.680 I mean, I guess not a present one, but a loving father for sure.
01:55:06.320 And they seem to adore him too.
01:55:08.520 And so it's, but it's, you know, you can't get back those years.
01:55:13.760 As you know, Lars, it's like, I bet you anything those kids love having Tom Brady as a dad.
01:55:20.280 You're like, your dad's Tom Brady?
01:55:22.060 I mean, instant cachet, right?
01:55:23.800 It's like, whoa, holy cow.
01:55:25.900 But I'd make an equal bet that if you said, would you like to have this guy who didn't
01:55:33.120 have all these accomplishments as your dad, and he was just there.
01:55:37.920 He was there for all the holidays and the school plays and, you know, curriculum nights.
01:55:44.900 They'd say, yes, I'd prefer that.
01:55:47.240 Every kid wants their parent to be present, especially if it's a good guy, you know, if it's not a prick.
01:55:54.680 And he seems like a good guy.
01:55:57.180 So it's just that's going to be his burden to bear.
01:56:02.400 Giselle, she went on ABC after all this.
01:56:07.700 This is March of 2024 and did speak to the relationship a bit.
01:56:13.580 Here's that 52.
01:56:15.340 You said it was the, I think the phrase you use, the death of a dream.
01:56:19.120 Yeah.
01:56:19.980 How are you?
01:56:22.020 Well, when you say...
01:56:25.600 Sorry, guys.
01:56:26.900 I didn't know.
01:56:28.080 Can I have a little moment?
01:56:31.720 Sorry, but let me just breathe.
01:56:42.040 Okay.
01:56:42.940 It's definitely a time of, you know, a transition that had to take place.
01:56:47.500 And it's not something that you, you, I don't think you, you wish for that, you know,
01:56:52.020 but I think sometimes in life things happen.
01:56:54.500 I feel so blessed because like, I wouldn't change anything in my life.
01:56:57.680 I have, you know, I had incredible experiences.
01:57:01.080 I learned so much.
01:57:02.120 I have my children, which are the biggest blessings in my life.
01:57:05.080 And now I get to create, it's a new season, it's a new chapter in my life.
01:57:09.440 And I get to learn new things.
01:57:10.600 And I get to walk my path in a different way, you know?
01:57:17.140 And I'm grateful for all of it.
01:57:19.620 I'm grateful for every lesson.
01:57:22.920 She's totally charming.
01:57:24.380 And I believe her.
01:57:25.900 She seems sincere.
01:57:27.780 That was heartbreaking.
01:57:30.300 Yep.
01:57:30.800 you can feel her loss.
01:57:35.040 As I said, I've been through it and it's horrible.
01:57:40.400 And Megan, I did everything in my power in this book
01:57:46.740 not to do any more damage, especially to those kids.
01:57:52.920 But also I didn't want to cause any more grief to Tom and Giselle.
01:58:00.200 That is just not the kind of person I am. But to understand, again, like what Tom was willing to sacrifice, you have to know what the consequences are, right? I mean, the story has to have an end. And unfortunately, this story does not end well.
01:58:21.660 But I also think, and it's really, it's a weird thing when you write such a massive book and, you know, I devoted so much time to this thing.
01:58:33.060 When you write about someone who's still alive and who's still like Tom, in a lot of ways, his life is just beginning, you know.
01:58:43.900 And I think that he will go on to do great things, probably with the Las Vegas Raiders.
01:58:54.620 That's my conjecture.
01:58:57.520 Is that the team he owns?
01:58:59.420 Yeah, part owner, yes.
01:59:01.240 Okay.
01:59:01.620 Yeah.
01:59:01.960 And I think he'll become more and more have an active role there.
01:59:07.020 That's just speculation, not reported.
01:59:08.940 um but just to see that clip from Giselle and I gotta tell you I've never seen it I've never seen
01:59:17.740 that and that that that hit me yeah I know it's sad I mean they say the definition of tragedy is
01:59:26.360 the difference between what is and what might have been and you could you could feel her
01:59:31.280 feeling that in that exchange just from the question my dad who is a lawyer uh his his
01:59:38.920 His favorite poem was, of all words of tongue or pen, the saddest of all are what might have been.
01:59:46.320 And that is sort of exactly, I think, what we just saw.
01:59:52.660 And it's like, she's moved on.
01:59:54.600 She's got a new husband.
01:59:55.700 She's got a new family. 0.65
01:59:57.440 I mean, she's got her kids, obviously, but she's got a new son.
02:00:00.180 And so it's, you know, you don't have hope that, oh, maybe they'll wind up back together.
02:00:04.400 I don't have hope for that at all.
02:00:05.640 I think she's with the man she wants to be with.
02:00:07.780 And he, he's just now a man about town, which to me is also sad, Lars.
02:00:14.440 I mean, I, you know, he's been linked to Alex Earle, his influencer, who's whatever, you
02:00:20.580 know, it's like, okay, I just, there's, it's going to be very tough to replace a woman 0.98
02:00:25.520 like that. 0.99
02:00:26.620 And I'm not referring to her modeling skill, you know, I love Brazilians.
02:00:31.780 I just think they are the warmest, most lovely people.
02:00:35.260 We have somebody who's so dear to us who's Brazilian.
02:00:38.480 We've gotten to know a few Brazilians through her.
02:00:40.680 I just, just the warmth and like the Mother Earth quality that Giselle has about her,
02:00:47.080 in addition to all that other stuff that everybody else sees just on the pages of the magazines and so on.
02:00:52.440 And to know that she's somebody else's now and that you blew it.
02:00:55.620 I mean, I just feel like Tom Brady, there's a chance he'll be single forever because I'm not sure she's replaceable.
02:01:02.060 and i i do want to raise this really quick uh about the roast another victim of this whole
02:01:10.340 thing was joaquin who is a private person and he got dragged through the mud and and still to this 0.58
02:01:20.080 day because of that damn roast he is viewed as a villain by far too many people you know 0.99
02:01:28.220 Like he stole her. 1.00
02:01:30.420 Yeah. And he did not ask to be put in this situation. Right. He's not a public figure. And I think that was another level of the unfairness of the roast.
02:01:44.320 What do you think? What do you think about the Tom Brady romantic future? I mean, he certainly doesn't have a shortage of options, but what do you think? Do you think he'll get married again and find true love again?
02:01:56.180 well if i wasn't currently engaged i think i would i wouldn't mind being in tom brady's position
02:02:05.040 i think he'll i think he'll do just fine i think you speak for every red-blooded man on earth
02:02:12.660 yes who realize he'll have plenty of options but you know he's he's coming off quite a high i mean 0.63
02:02:21.840 I don't, I'm not sure how you replaced Giselle.
02:02:23.600 Well, yeah, exactly. 0.54
02:02:24.800 No, like how, imagine being the next woman in his life, right?
02:02:31.500 He goes from, you're always going to be compared to Giselle
02:02:35.660 and that is a losing proposition, you know?
02:02:39.220 Yes, oh my God.
02:02:40.440 He needs to go like a totally different way.
02:02:42.080 I, he should not be,
02:02:44.680 I don't think he's settling down with Alex Earl,
02:02:46.540 but he should be picking somebody,
02:02:48.080 I think completely different.
02:02:49.460 somebody, I don't know, brilliant and somebody who's like very accomplished on her own.
02:02:55.020 Who would be off the top of your head? Who would be off the top of your head? Who would be somebody?
02:03:01.700 I don't know. Not somebody famous, somebody like a really smart doctor or someone who's been like
02:03:11.380 fighting to help kids get adopted. You know, like somebody who's got real meaning in her life
02:03:17.040 that is not related to the Klieg lights
02:03:20.280 and who's really not that impressed by him,
02:03:23.560 who like would like to get to know him as a human
02:03:26.720 as opposed to as just this football machine
02:03:28.720 and who can bring something to him
02:03:30.900 that's deep and meaningful and profound and insightful
02:03:33.900 and not just like silicone body parts.
02:03:37.460 That's, I don't think that's going to do it.
02:03:39.360 I think you need something more profound
02:03:41.020 after a woman like Giselle.
02:03:43.180 Just a second. There is a scene in the book where Tom and Giselle invite Peyton Manning and his wife, Ashley, to their place in Brentwood, and Ashley is the absolute opposite of Giselle in that she avoids media at all costs.
02:04:11.100 I wrote a book on the Manning family called The Mannings, and so I've dug into this quite deep as well.
02:04:21.800 And Ashley, just, you know, her and Peyton met in college.
02:04:27.240 They went to different schools. 0.72
02:04:28.620 She went to Virginia. 1.00
02:04:30.540 She went to Tennessee, obviously.
02:04:33.120 But she has avoided the limelight.
02:04:37.720 She doesn't do interviews.
02:04:39.080 and their marriage seems to work very, very well.
02:04:44.600 And so maybe Tom should look at what his buddy,
02:04:48.340 Peyton Manning, did with his life
02:04:50.740 and yeah, just do something that's the absolute opposite.
02:04:55.120 Or Matt Damon.
02:04:56.320 Matt Damon married a school teacher,
02:04:59.220 somebody who's stunning and smart and loves him.
02:05:03.800 I just think maybe somebody out of the limelight,
02:05:06.840 but also but like who has her own independent thing going on you know i don't think the answer
02:05:12.740 is to have somebody who's just stars in the eyes over tom brady i think it's got to be somebody
02:05:17.600 who's got profound meaning in her life separate and apart from him who's not looking to him to
02:05:23.020 make a life for another question that you're uniquely equipped to answer once you become
02:05:29.640 famous, and you feel, if you feel that fame slipping away, what will you do to hang on to
02:05:38.260 that fame? And I feel like that is part of the reason why Tom agreed to do the roast and why he
02:05:45.860 is like on the stage with WWE people and punching them in the face. It's like, what the hell are 0.90
02:05:52.860 you doing? That's bad. That is bad. He shouldn't be doing that. That's so beneath him. Like you
02:05:58.880 say in a way he's, you know, we don't like royalty here in America, but he's kind of American royalty
02:06:03.060 and it's beneath him. And yeah, I do think you're right that there's like a fear that the accolades
02:06:09.140 and the attention are going to start to fade and they will fade eventually. Look at when we were
02:06:14.060 kids, you know, I think you're probably around my age. Joe Montana was American royalty. You know,
02:06:18.660 I mean, even I knew who that was, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback, even though I wasn't a boy and
02:06:24.700 I wasn't into football. Um, but now he's an older man and he comes out every once in a while on the
02:06:31.940 NFL, you know, specials and you're like, Oh cool, Joe Montana, but that's it. And eventually, and
02:06:38.420 look, there's lots of goats out there, whether it's Lance Armstrong or Wayne Gretzky or Michael
02:06:43.600 Jordan who have this revered place, you know, as like, we know you're the goat. Don't get me
02:06:50.220 started on Lance Armstrong, they were all cheating. But anyway, they have this revered status, but
02:06:56.120 you can't hold on to the apex. It's just the nature of the business that you're not going
02:07:02.580 to stay there. You have to move to like emeritus status, which isn't as great, but it's also
02:07:09.780 something. And you have to start filling your life with something else like books or your kids,
02:07:16.200 if you've put the time in and they want to be with you
02:07:19.000 or travel or a foundation, you know?
02:07:22.560 Like that was one of the great things Agassi did
02:07:24.820 when he left tennis is he created this school
02:07:27.240 and this foundation and he nurtured that
02:07:28.920 for years and years.
02:07:30.160 It was something with meaning that doesn't revolve
02:07:32.620 around seeing your face in a magazine, you know,
02:07:36.720 which is such empty calories.
02:07:40.100 And you're raising a good point too,
02:07:42.440 which is the loss of the sport itself
02:07:45.160 is going to be tough enough to get over, you know, because for somebody like Tom Brady,
02:07:49.580 it's not just the loss of your fame.
02:07:52.940 You know, you've lost the ability to play the game, to be with your true love, as his
02:07:59.780 Instagram post put it.
02:08:01.700 So that requires a period of mourning and separation.
02:08:04.740 And I actually have wondered for a long time, Lars, whether being a sideline commentator
02:08:09.740 is the move because I mean, he's near the game he loves and he's still kind of in the industry,
02:08:18.560 but like, he's kind of doing what I do now. And I just feel like that he can, he's, he can do
02:08:27.060 better. Like, and I'd hate to be what, what I will never do if this doesn't work out eventually
02:08:32.700 is to go be like a media critic, you know, like be truly on the sidelines of the industry that
02:08:39.820 I built a name for myself and just like yapping about the others who are still doing it. I don't,
02:08:44.740 to me, there's something, there's a reason Michael Jordan chose not to do that.
02:08:50.600 Yeah. I mean, there comes a time, I think, to gracefully step aside. And I like what you say
02:08:57.900 about the emeritus role. Um, after hearing your very articulate response there, I wish I would
02:09:05.560 have interviewed you for the book and you could have really provided some insight into all of
02:09:11.000 this. And I would love to have an off the record conversation with you about what you know, but,
02:09:16.820 um, you know, uh, the book didn't need me. It's perfect just as it is. It's so well done. It's
02:09:24.080 thoughtful. What's great about it too is, and I think the audience is getting that from our
02:09:28.360 interview, is that it was written with heart. It's got obviously juicy details and a lot about Tom
02:09:34.260 and a lot about football. So if you love football, you should listen to Lars's other interviews too,
02:09:38.780 because it does, Tom Brady does have a lot to talk about when it comes, there's a lot to talk
02:09:43.060 about him on football, but it's got heart. And I accept your resolution not to try to hurt them.
02:09:49.500 And I think you've done that.
02:09:50.780 You've told us a lot about two of the most famous people in the world, and you've done it in a classy way.
02:09:59.440 I don't know if I was going to say gently.
02:10:01.380 I'm not sure that's the word, but in a classy, respectful way.
02:10:04.400 So congrats.
02:10:05.220 I appreciate that.
02:10:06.280 That means more to me than anything.
